The diving centre was well maintained and very good diving instructors. Restaurant was good.
The area round the hotel was very dirty and should kept better maintained.
Nill
How long have you got ? For starters you have to walk down the side of a cliff to get there or back up to the road remote springs to mind 20 min to nearest town. The so called resort is so rundown and filthy it’s unhealthy the fridge behind the bar ( where we had to store our perishables) because there isn’t fridges in the rooms had not been cleaned ever , condiments on the tables were discusting mouldy around the tops and filthy another health hazard Our bathroom was mouldy ( not uncommon in the Philippines nothing ever gets a proper clean the water pressure was woeful the toilet would not flush , we had to tip buckets of water into it ( also they wouldn’t let you put toilet paper in ( not uncommon in php also ) The hot water alternated between scalding hot and cold basically the place has been run into the ground the remote management ( who only lease the property) leave the teenager to run it Truly a place not to go unfortunately as I have discovered it is atypical for the not so expensive places in PHP but for what they were charging not nearly good enough Booking dot com in the Philippines is crap 💩 Most of their listings should not be advertised I’m tired of being served up crap as so called 3 and 4 star accom Could elaborate more but you get the message Just don’t even entertain the place Kirk Latham
Nice balcony with great sea view. Comfy bed. Nice and helpful staff. Good dive shop.
Towels could have been a bit better
Dive team and dive infrastructure were ok, nice dive sites, dive masters showed lot of interesting marine life
The hotel had potential, but unfortunately it felt quite poorly maintained. While the overall structure and concept are good, it’s clear that proper upkeep has been neglected. Several areas looked worn out, and attention to detail was lacking—something you would expect at this level. Cleanliness and maintenance should be a priority, but here it seemed inconsistent. Small issues like outdated facilities, minor damages, and a general sense of wear added up and affected the overall experience. With better care and regular maintenance, this place could be significantly improved. As it stands now, it feels like it’s not living up to what it could be.
the helpful and friendly staff
room was outdated
Professionally run dive centre. Did a refresher dive with Jeff (Jefferson) which was thorough. Good dive spots close to Blue Ribbon. No coral bleaching and plenty of coral and sea life. Breakfast was included and well prepared. Attracted an international mix of age and gender some who had hundreds of dives completed.
Would choose a sea view room if I came again.
I like how helpful the staffs and the breakfast was lovely
Perfect place to stay for a dive trip. Central to loads of great dive sites. Rooms and facilities are basic, but spotlessly clean and the restaurant serves excellent food. If you want luxury, this isn’t for you, but if you want a great dive experience, then it absolutely is! Staff are lovely, and since this is such a small resort, it’s all very personal. Owned and operated by a British guy, Jon, who is really friendly and welcoming.
Not this resort specifically, and not even unique to the Philippines, but I wish that resorts would clean their beaches and foreshore of litter and plastic in particular. It may seem like a losing battle but it makes a big difference.
Good service. Friendly staff and owner. Helpful
Great location, diving on site, staff was incredibly helpful and attentive
Not much to do other than diving
Staff is absolutely lovely and helpful, the house reef just beautiful. Rooms are quite clean and the food is good.
It is an expensive place, but the resort is very basic. Little pebble beach dirty with plastic littering, it would take so little to keep it clean. Many things lacking in the room, AC old and noisy , table lamp broken , rust in the shower. Noisy from the corridor and downstairs in the morning , you hear everything. The food is expensive (about 9 Euro for a ham and cheese toast with fries). For the equivalent of 90 Euro per night it should be much much better.
Passamos dias maravilhosos mergulhando e relaxando no blue ribbon dive resort.
Very nice place
He was OK but not great but comfortable stuff is not hundred percent it’s OK for two nights Stand
Staff was nice. Room simple and comfortable.
Restaurant food was decent but more expensive than surrounding area, probably worth it though.
The resort staff and the diving/boat crew are wonderful.
This was one of the most wonderful places I’ve ever stayed! Everything – from the cozy atmosphere to the smallest details – was absolutely flawless. The cleanliness, comfort, warm hospitality, and attention to detail made my stay truly special. I’m leaving with the fondest memories and will be more than happy to return!
The gang at BR are fantastic from bar hotel staff to the dive crews thanks to John and his team.
Had to go home
Friendly and dedicated staff for hotel and dive center. The diving experience was absolutely sensational.
overall the stay felt 20–30% overpriced: the room was very small, the bathroom not particularly inviting, and on all days, many dishes on the restaurant menu couldn't be prepared due to missing ingredients. Additionally, there were not enough lounge chairs available at the pool.
This was my third visit 3 years running staying and diving at Blue Ribbon. They have everything right for a relaxed, but safe, diving vacation. The rooms are fine and everything is convenient. You walk a few meters from your room to eat and not many more to dive. The resort has a friendly family feel to it and the staff were all fabulous. The food is also excellent with lots of variety and its all cooked fresh. Portion sizes are good and prices are reasonable. We did 16 dives over 4 days and our guide Jeff Zapata was first class. I can't wait to visit again. Jon's super friendly dog ('mush') was a delight and it made our day the day he came with us on the boat diving. I look forward to returning soon. Keep up the good work team Blue Ribbon.
I wasn't expecting much but I was still disappointed. Hot and cold showers or having only one plug to charge your phone, I was expecting. What I wasn't expecting was the complete lack of care and attention to detail. The shower was completely covered in limescale so hardly any water came out. There are still signs up for social distancing. There was a dirty pair of pants near the pool that was there when we arrived and was still there when we left, the same with rags and buckets that are just left around the pool area. Trash left in the garden and beach. 3 small dogs that live at the hotel that bark a lot, especially at night and early morning.1 of the dogs pees in the lobby next to the kitchen because no one walks it. Food was terrible, worst pizza I have ever eaten, barely cooked with raw tomato slices on top of thick layer of rubbery cheese, omelette at breakfast was runny and raw in the middle, you have to eat at the hotel because there is nothing near by, but even Filipino food wasn't good, way too salty. At best the food was edible but we didn’t have a good or tasty meal during our stay. There is plenty of staff, mostly on their phone without headphones, smoking around the corner of the terrace or laying in the gazebo by the pool. All I can say is the beds were comfortable enough and the sheets clean. Our rented dive equipment wasn't checked before we left, when we did our own checks, we had a leaking regulator and a leak in a BCD. They are no longer PADI certified.
Staff is very helpful and flexible. Felt at home right away
+ Easy access to seaside + Quite good kitchen in resort + Helpfull crew + Perfect for divers
- lack of warm water in the shower - not recommend for non-divers
It was a relaxing trip for some fresh air
Staffs, atmosphere and beaches are good. but a little far from the bus terminal.
Loved the resort, it was a short stay, but definitely going back one day. Amazing stuff, fun to be with. 5 starts from me
Staff is luxury, they are amazing. The food is very good. Spectacular view from our room
We stayed at BR for five nights. It’s definitely a good dive resort. We are snorkelers who snorkeled every day. The beach is pretty rocky so wear water shoes. The food was good. Lots of selections, and a very good selection of breakfast foods. We ate there every day. I would recommend most of the items we had, except maybe the Ceasars salad, the dressing was strong for me. And have your bread toasted if you get a sandwich. The beer was very cold. Good shakes. Ice bucket was provided if asked for. Two great waiters, Justin and Zed. The room was small, but luggage fit under the bed. We spent a lot of time on our balcony which was fantastic and overlooking the bay. Very comfortable chairs and table. That’s where we spent our time if we weren’t eating or snorkeling. Dave the front desk guy was very helpful. He helped me pay a bill from our last hotel that got overlooked by using g cash, which I do not have. The staff was great. Be prepared for a workout with the stairs, but the staff muscle helped with heavy luggage. Anilao town a ten minute drive. Paid cash at the end cause credit card reader wasn’t working. I thought our last bill was very reasonable. We ate and drank for five days and it was about $110 USD. We enjoyed our stay.
First time there, and not the last one! First scuba diving over there and it was great!
The location if front of corals for snorkeling (free to borrow equipment) The firm and confortable bed (very important) The food from the restaurant (rare to find good food in dive resorts but this one surprised us) The big room, nice to have space The cable TV The staff, very nice
No internet in the room!! That’s really something to change. The only strong signal and correct internet is from the restaurant. It’s not too expensive to have a better system to send strong signal everywhere. The bathroom needs renovations, the water stays in the shower and the humidity is bad for the wood around. Good insulation between rooms but none on the roof in metal and fruits were falling all night making noise.
The resort is very comfortable and clean! Staff are very friendly helpful and good at what they do. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and will definitely visit again. I work in Manila so it is less than three hours from Manila to the resort.
Perfect location to relax and have a dive. Excellent and super friendly staff!
None, I hope you can have more rooms available for a bigger group.
It was an amazing trip. I am a new diver and the staff went above and beyond to make me feel safe and comfortable. This whole experience was great and I look forward to a continuous diving spot.
Room was fairly big and bed was comfy. Great breakfast included and amazing restaurant on site. Extensive menu and staff even changed it to accommodate my dietary requirements. They had free water. They also gave me a surprise cake for my 40th birthday which was lovely of them. The staff were very kind and helpful from the moment I booked to when we left and arranged to share transfers to save us money. Dive centre is excellent (some of the best guides we've had) and just downstairs so didn't have to go far. They had all the fish books if you like knowing what you've just seen under the sea.
The shower couldnt maintain one temperature.
staff and dive team were very helpful and accommodating :)
the steep stairs leading to the hotel, quite a workout!
A simple diver resort, which conveniently does single dives in the afternoon as well as double dives in the morning at a reasonable price. We have visited the area several times in the past, in this resort we did not feel particularly well, including after the dives (the reason is hard to pinpoint, may or may not have to do with the resort). Room 1 had some half-dead cockroaches crawling around. Otherwise, the dining area on the terrace is nice and serves good local dishes, including coconut-based curries. The aircon is not particularly strong but can cool the room down to 22-23C. Wifi is not bad most of the time.
I love how friendly and caring the staff is.
Nothing
Professional dive masters for diving… wish them to complete their extension to have more rooms
Some of the staff very friendly Timely and good transfer from airport
Dirty bathroom with extremally rusty shower and cold water. Even for man conditions were not convinient. Dive Resort with asked for black water diving and I travelled 10 000km from Europe for it. Two days before arrival they informed unfortunate Black water is not available because lights are broken but they can offer bonfire and will be also very entertaining. I was thinking to change resort but my mistake was that I trusted they are professional. Unfortunately I arrived and it turns out after warm up dives that bonfire dive also cannot be organized and they will offer super amazing night dive. With no other option I went for it and that was mistake. No thing unusual underwater, few octopus, and snake. Dive like I had hundreds already without traveling half of the globe. That was extremally unprofessional and huge disapointment. All next 2 resort we visited were much better with also better dives and not cheating customer. To add into whole bad experience very overpriced food like no where in philipines even not in Manila or crab in eldnodo. As a example tuna sandwich for around 600peso turned out to be sandwitch with tuna from can which you can buy for less than 40p in every shop.that was really scam. To add into overall bad experience cats jumping into table where you eat. I understand resort is pet friendly and I do not have anything against animals but staff should not allow cats sleeping on table or bothering you all the time when you eat.
We loved Blue Ribbon - a small hotel designed for divers. The diving was excellent and Jeff was a first class frogfish spotter (although we tried but ultimately failed to find a waddling one...). All the staff working at the hotel/dive centre were kind, friendly and hard-working. The rooms are basic but you have everything you need, and the bed was comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the food offered by the restaurant. For such a small hotel there really was an exceptionally large menu and everything we ate we would have re-ordered. We recommend.
The view during breakfast. The staff. WiFi worked wherever you went, I swear they must have had 10 different networks, all were among the fastest I've used in the Philippines
The stairs
Friendly staff and good food.
Initially we got a room with sea view. Then we had to move to a room without a view. They said they made a mistake and the rooms with seaview had already been booked by someone else. The dive shop/school staff is not properly trained. During scuba diving they were pushy to make me do as many dives as possible, to make money. Afterwards I was unwell. The dive master had cramp in legs and fingers. Also, the boat staff tried to hurry me but I insisted on checking my equipment first, as is standard procedure. Dive staff need proper training and proper supervision, otherwise there will be accidents in future!
Near diving areas
Food and the dogs are smelly
Diving facilities, staff, food and rooms were all really great and they organised everything.
There just for diving like most people, but it still needs to offer slightly more entertainment facilities on location, for kids if they were to join you and local sightseeing trips in the area.
friendly staff, good variety of additional activities. We ordered trip to closest island for snorkeling. Good water pool
this is an area without sand on the beach, but this is valid not only for this hotel, but for whole coast at this area
Myself and my girlfriend have just stayed for 11 nights at Blue Ribbon Dive Resort in March 2023. Basic accommodation but with sunset views to die for each evening from the seawiew balcony. What a great place with fantastic diving every single day at so many different locations! Quite simply it is run by divers for divers. They have wonderful coral reef diving with exceptional sites, some just minutes from the resort, providing daily sea turtles, amazing brightly coloured nudibranch and sea creatures for macro photography. There is also a wreck dive or the beautiful Sombrero island that is sightly further away. Every dive instructor we had was so professional and knowledgeable, especially Jeff, Dang and Ogie. The office and bar staff were also friendly and extremely helpful when needed. The resort has a first class local and international menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner with all meals cooked to order (a lot of the divers staying elsewhere would eat there before returning to their hotels). We would normally go out to eat in the evenings but there was simply no need to. They have some lovely, well looked after dogs It's fairly obvious that all of the Blue Ribbon staff are happy in their work, which is usually a very good sign, and this is one of the reasons that we will definitely be back again 😁
a good staff
Wi-Fi is very poor
Seaview , clean beach and only hotel visitors used the beach.
all very satisfactory.
Nice place on ocean. Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff very accommodating. Pool and beach area were pleasant.
Location,.dogs and friendly staff
little expensive foods
eating in the place was very expensive, and since its far from town you must eat in the plsace a lot of stairs to go up in order to get out of the place
I like how quiet it was.
I thought is was quite expensive for the location and size of the room.
Maybe we weren’t the right crowd for this resort. I can’t come up with anything positive to say.
Overpriced food at the restaurant. Imagine getting charged 615 pesos for a small bowl of chicken tikka masala. The food was not even delicious and staff told us it that the dish was good for 2-3 people. Absolutely not true. We had our laundry done and they misplaced one garment and another had mud stains on it. The pool doesn’t look inviting in real life. The surroundings aren’t well maintained (there’s trash on the ground). We were discouraged to give tips unless it’s 500 PHP or more (because they wanted to split it for the entire staff, and I bet the house wants a portion, too). I can’t show appreciation for one staff member, I have to reward everyone even if they didn’t do anything exceptional. I don’t understand this rule. The bathrooms are old and could use renovation. The beds are horrible — the mattress is hard and even a slight turn would make the bed creak loudly. They put mats that slip and slide on the floor, it’s like an accident waiting to happen. Ultimately, this location is overpriced and disappointing.
The receptionist Edz was very nice and helpful. My dive instructor Dang was very professional and very helpful. The owner John was also very nice. all in all the staff at blue ribbon are excellent.
N/A
the location next to the sea
limited menu card without dessert options
Location and smiling staff, nice diving place ! The rooms with sea view even a little small are very nice !
Quite expensive for the price, room and restaurant . This place is definitely for foreigners. Also the price for the diving is quite expensive if you compare for other places in Philippines, around 2300 pesos for dive + materials for the each dive.
The room was very clean and it had a big comfy bed, the surroundings were great with a nice pool (also for diving excercises), a little chill-hut, a nice bar overlooking the seaside. I was the only guest at times and the staff was so kind, caring and lovely. The kitchen was excellent, I had a lot of different meals and all of them were very tasty. Its in a quiet location, no noise from the road, and close to all divesites around. The diving masters were great, very helpful, spotted the nice stuff and relaxed. Also the boat-crew was super helpful, I did not have to carry anything gear to the boat, they insisted on doing that. Even when i was on my own they took me to very nice dive sites and also far away ones.
The shower def needs a refesh, besides the missing warm water (that cannot always be expected but its hot so not such a big deal) the tabs need an update and the mold needs to be dealt with. All rooms had a lovely view except mine, I just saw a roof :(
Amazing first dive resort experience, great Tagalog & English-speaking staff who are helpful and kind, good food cooked in-house and pretty varied menu (pizza, pasta, burgers, filipino foods, salad), clean facility with comfortable rooms and a large solid bed. Quieter on the weekdays but has a good dive crowd on the weekends! BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS on their beach - literally steps from your room! Plusses for me that I enjoyed: - free filtered water at the bar - fastest WiFi I’ve had in the Philippines! PADI 5 star indeed! - organized dives - in house Divemasters on site - Aqualung equipment is clean and useable - great people from all kinds of locations to meet diving
Showers can be upgraded, but still fully functional; no hot water. We all know seawater damages
location
Price can not match with the quality WiFi is bad Service from the reception is not good Food is expensive and bad and I had diarrhea second day
Check-in: There’s a steep flight of stairs heading down to the resort. We tried the intercom to ask for assistance, but it wasn’t working. We eventually lugged down our own luggages. Upon checking-in, they only prepared one room instead of my two room booking. It was eventually resolved, but I was scared we wouldn’t have enough accommodations for a few minutes as it was a small resort with few rooms. Room: Pretty basic, but clean. What I didn’t like though was that we could hear the sounds of footsteps from the floor above us and there seems to be some cigarette smells coming in from somewhere. Property: Landscaping could be improved for a better vibe. A few more plants can go a long way. Seeing just a lot of soil looks kinda sad. Common areas are just okay. Wifi connection is on/off, but this is expected in the area. Food: Hit and Miss, I personally recommend the Tikka Masala, Fajitas, and Curries. Serving is quite big, can be shared by two in some instances. For breakfast, stick to the Filipino options or the omelette. I think some of the menu items are a bit overpriced. Dive Shop: Quite good and complete, price is competitive as well among the options in the area. They tend to group divers from the resort into one boat that typically leaves at 9AM. Others: I like that their checkout time is at 2PM, right. Take note that in settling your balance, there is 5% surcharge if paying by credit card. Should have informed us beforehand so I could prepare cash.
There are 101 stairs from the road down to the resort, so if you have any problems with your legs, this place is not recommended. Down somewhat easier, but up.... Worst thing was that owners dogs and cats were all over and that was very annoying. One dog urinated on my bag on the floor at the table while we were eating. What kind of restaurang is this? Disgusting. Otherwise place was nice and staff friendly and professional.
The staff was friendly and helpful, but were talking loudly early in the morning right outside the guest rooms. We loved the deep pool. The roof had a leak and the restaurant menu didn’t have much variety. But the hotel allowed us to use snorkeling gear and arranged a nice boat trip for us. Beware you must be able to climb a long flight of stairs to go to and from the hotel!
Friendly staff, good and big portion of food, free water, coffee and tea. The room is clean and big enough. The diving gear is in best condition. The knowledge of the divemasters is excellent. Im happy to choose Blue Ribbon for my holiday. Can only recommend for everyone.
Location of property close enough to Manila. I like that it is small and personalized. Dive was amazing. Instructor and guides were great. Staff were very friendly and the meals were very good. Only drawback is the looooong stairway up and down to the resort. But to someone who is more fit I'm sure it's a minor issue. Thank you, John for an overall excellent stay! We enjoyed it very much and no doubt you will be seeing us again.
It is in a remote spot but nice place for sunrise and sunsets. They live up to their name being a prime spot to learn how to dive.
Amazing sunset view at the bar and dinning area. Cosy; staff are friendly and welcoming! Good Value.
