Monastery Estate Retreat

The premise of the accommodation sounds good but only in concept. Relatively recently renovated, though slightly messy finished. - Good quality towels and bed linen. - Nice capsule coffee machine with 2 capsules refilled daily. - A mini bar - with multiple beverage options for extra charge. - Air-conditioning worked well In-suite dining was a great extra, a bit lacking of comfortable seating space in yhe room to dine. •Breakfast was good, delivered warm every morning (order ahead). • Lunch/snack menu (during afternoon) only has a few items but it is good and affordable. Dinner menu (6-8pm) is limited and not greatly executed - all courses are brought at the same time and staff takes the domes with them so it gets cold quickly. Great beverages selection - Cretan wines, cocktails, beer, coffee, etc.

The lack of comfort was unfortunate. It needs to be improved to match the price range they are aiming at. Throughout hotel the style is radiating wellness but it lacks finess. Experience of room 11: - The bed is small and short, the mattress felt worn out and lumpy, the bed frame creaked and lacked support; - the "couch" is a plank box with a flimsy garden cushion on top and wall as back support; - tv is small and no smart features; - every single chair in the room is very stylish but uncomfortable; - bathroom was dark and lacked shelfs and more hooks for towels. Outside: - concrete bench with thin cushion is uncomfortable; - the "sunbeds" is actually a plank which is not level, super thin cushions and completely covered by overgrown trees, hard to reach it without scratching yourself; - the pool is cold - the hotel is facing North so very little sun is actually available, very breezy

C’est seulement le top du top ! Les installations sont superbes, la piscine privée vraiment géniale. Et alors que dire de la gentillesse et disponibilité des deux jeunes filles de l’accueil , nous étions au paradis !

La tranquillité du lieu et la conception de la chambre avec la piscine est super. Le personnel est très accueillant et aux petits soins et de bons conseils.

Perfect location on a beautiful gorge . A short 10min drive from Sougia. There is always a nice breeze so it’s never hot even in very warm days. The staff was just fantastic, everyone is incredibly welcoming and proactive. We had dinner once and it was great. Highly recommended!

The bathroom had a little smell from time to time but nothing unbearable. The pool lights stays on overnight, it would be nice to have a switch in the room to watch the stars

2 emes séjour dans cet établissement, hôtel de charme impeccable et je vous conseille là petite auberge au dessus pour manger. Service impeccable et qui peut vous organiser la randonnée auberge sein de la Samaria gorge.

Tout était parfait. Le lieu magique. Les bâtiments qui se fondent dans la nature, les chambres sobres et de bons goût avec leur petite piscine, le service impeccable, les massages de Joanna incroyables et l’accueil de Maria extraordinaire. Un très grand merci à Maria pour son énergie pétillante, pour l’organisation de notre séjour avec ses bonnes idées et ses belles surprises pour le rendre encore meilleur🥰

Heel gastvrij en vriendelijk personeel. Maria was erg vriendelijk en gaf ons allerlei tips en aanbevelingen voor activiteiten die we in de buurt konden doen. Ook mochten we later uitchecken zonder extra kosten. Ook de dames van housekeeping hadden altijd een glimlach en lieten de kamer tip top achter.

De jets in het zwembad stonden stil, waardoor er veel insecten in het water terechtkwamen/bleven. Dit kon best vervelend zijn. Personeel was wel zo vriendelijk om het zwembad schoon te maken, maar na een aantal minuten herhaalde het probleem zich weer, omdat het zwembadwater gedeeld wordt met de buren.

Un lieu exceptionnel, Accueil très sympa, Le village de Sougia est d’un charme suranné des plus fabuleux, Le petit restaurant à 3 minutes à pied de l’hôtel.

C’était un petit havre de paix dans les montagnes de Crète. Idéal pour se reposer et recharger les batteries

Petit dej moyen pour le prix mais il y a une taverne à 5 min avec des excellentes alternatives.

Super Lage, sauber, top Ausgangslage für Unternehmungen. Essen gibt es Im Hotel. Alternativ gibt es Taverne oberhalb der Unterkunft im Dorf. Essen war sehr gut

The views were stunning, the room was modern and comfortable. Staff were all lovely and helped arrange hiking.

Eating on our balcony was fine and food tasty but I still prefer a restaurant.

We loved the location. There is a little tavern above the hotel that can be reached by walking in the evening where food is great and owners are so nice and welcoming. The staff was lovely, giving great advice about activities. The intimacy of the place, how relaxing the hotel feels and the size of the room was just 10/10 The breakfast was good, nice to enjoy on the terrace, wine as well in the evening. (I recommend the hike to lissos!)

The orientation of our terrace wasn’t perfect as it wasn’t in the sun a lot during the day. It’s something we did not expect as we couldn’t enjoy tanning and the swimming as much as we thought. Staff had not told us about the spa as well, we wish we had seen it on the website or been reminded by the staff as we missed it.

We had such a wonderful time at this hotel. The room was beautiful, stylish and very comfortable, great bed, swimming pool one can step out to basically from the bed, parking right in front of the place, very tasty Cretan breakfast, and a family taverna 3 minutes away walking. People working at the hotel deserve special recognition: everyone was so welcoming and friendly and made our stay unforgettable with their care, professionalism, advice and little treats. The area around is very beautiful, many great hikes and a beautiful beach few driving minutes away. We would love to be back one day!

Locatie perfect. Zwembadjes erg klein en weinig privacy. Eten op de kamer op zich wel gezellig, maar de katten komen al snel vragen om te proeven. Met het nodige miauw. Er is een dorpje vlakbij waar gezellige en lekkere restaurantjes zijn. En een Taverna op wandelafstand.

The hotel was beautiful, the room was spacious and clean with a private pool and a view to the mountians. Every request was fulfilled and the staff were amazing and it was just a wonderful place, no complaints.

The place is as beautiful as it shows online! The reception area is a simple design and the two hosts were welcoming and very supportive. Everything is beautifully designed and peaceful. Also, the pools are not heated in case you are expecting that, but they are refreshing, likely best in warm months. The little tavern they suggested on the hill, just a short walk away, is also perfect for an evening meal. If traveling to the mountains this is a delightful place to treat yourself for sure.

The address on listing is NOT their address and yet they did message a welcome note that had the proper address- so we were lost for a bit

We were contacted in advance of our arrival to check our arrival time and if we wanted to book anything in advance. Lovely welcome and introduction to the area. We were lucky enough to be upgraded!! Lovely staff.

Only negative was that the breakfast wasn’t the best - but was delivered straight to our room in the morning which was lovely.

L’hôtel est à l’endroit sympathique et au calme , celui-ci se trouve un petit peu dans la montagne , cet établissement, reste un peu isolé , idéal pour se reposer quelques jours , nous avons pris une chambre avec une piscine privée, dommage que celle-ci ne soit pas chauffée dans certaines périodes , la piscine était belle, mais nous n’avons pas eu la jouissance d’en profiter , trop froid au mois d octobre , cela reste un bel établissement , je conseille à tout le monde

Very nice place! Great and welcoming staff. Bit secluded but that's what I loved about it. Not many people around, not many lights at night. Amazing opportunity to watch the stars! 🩵 Great mountain view and good restaurant 5min walk away. The estate also offers its own food and it's delicious.

Private pool water is very cold, but not much you can do about it, you also have a jacuzzi with hot water right next to the pool so in the end not that bad at all!

Great atmosphere within a quiet and spacious room of high aesthetics. The staff was impressively kind, helpful and proactive during our staying which helped us relax straight away.

Although the breakfast was enjoyable, the cost seemed slightly higher in relation to what was offered

Really liked the mountain setting, very calm and peaceful. Beautiful design in the hotel. Staff were absolutely brilliant - great team - and gave the impression of genuinely valuing and respecting their guests. Loved the plunge pools. Quiet! Nice restaurant recommendations.

Difficult to think of anything I didn't like. I guess some written information about the various nearby walks (e.g. maps) might have been helpful. as not super easy to find online. A bigger iron in the room to neaten up clothes?!

Great location for exploring the mountains and gorges. Really nice helpful staff on hand for your every need.

The property is lovely, in the minimalist monastery estate style.

L’emplacement : proche de Sougia en voiture et en même temps perdu en pleine nature afin de pouvoir profiter du calme, du repos et de la beauté des montagnes. La gentillesse et bienveillance de l’équipe (qui nous a offert un dessert après notre journée de randonnée et le petit déjeuner le dernier matin). Ils étaient aux petits soins pour qu’on se sente comme des rois et que notre séjour se déroule parfaitement. La chambre magnifiquement décorée et le cadre incroyable. Ces quelques jours étaient une parenthèse de pur bonheur dans un petit coin de paradis, parfait pour se ressourcer.

The room was very clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly, offering great recommendations. The room looked exactly like it did in the pictures. The location is also excellent for visiting Samaria Gorge and Lissos, with Sougia just a short drive away.

The balcony of our room wasn’t as private as we had expected. It faced the parking lot and was next to a corridor with people passing by.

Zutiefst stylisch, ruhig und privat. Mit den privaten Pools je Zimmer/Appartment Luxus pur. Der Blick im die Berge ein Genuss - das (nahe) Meer als Blick fehlt einem gar nicht. Das Angebot „Essen aufs Zimmer“ haben wir nur fürs Frühstück genutzt; der Service war auch hier sehr zuvorkommend und privat.

Der Aufenthaltsraum (Terrasse) zwischen Zimmer und Pool fühlt sich nur groß genug an wenn man die Terrassentür ganz wegschiebt.

This was the perfect start to our holiday in Crete. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are tastefully designed and having a private pool is always nice :) But the most amazing part of this place is the staff. They are so kind, caring, and attentive, they made every part of our stay perfect, from suggesting activities, to restaurants, to safe places to run! We really didn’t want to leave and almost didn’t!

Absolutely nothing… would have liked to take the cats home with us.

Un posto incantevole, immerso nella montagna sopra Sougia. Il Monastery si trova in montagna, ma a pochi minuti dal mare! Un’oasi di relax! L’hotel manager ed il personale che lavora lì sono squisiti. E pronti ad assisterti per qualunque necessità. Le stanze sono finemente arredate, e la piscina nella stanza è un plus! La colazione poi viene servita in camera con room service quotidiano. E’ un luogo che amerete se cercate tranquillità, riservatezza e contatto con la natura !

The location is amazing, really immersive into the south of Crete and in nature. The room was spacious outside and inside, everything was comfortable and the staff was very friendly, accurate and helpful. The staff is really caring and they are able to support you in every choice of the vacation along the region. The pool and the design of the structure is beautiful.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cet endroit paisible et reposant. Les chambres sont extrêmement spacieuses, bien décorées et confortables. Le personnel est attentionné et de bons conseils pour visiter la région. L’hôtel est proche de Sougia (8/10min en voiture) tout en étant très isolé avec une superbe vue sur les montagnes.

L’emplacement au milieu des montagnes, la décoration des chambres, le service du petit déjeuner et du dîner en chambre et le personnel adorable serviable et efficace.

Abbiamo soggiornato 5 notti in questa struttura e come dalle foto si è rivelato un complesso bellissimo dal punto di vista architettonico. Anche l’Interior design è molto studiato. Siamo stati accolti in maniera davvero speciale dallo staff che è stato pronto a rispondere alle nostre domande ed esigenze e ha fatto la differenza nella qualità del nostro soggiorno. Ci teniamo quindi a ringraziare di cuore in particolare Georgia, Maria e Vangelis, che sono stati super gentili e professionali. Durante il soggiorno abbiamo provato parte del menù proposto e ci è piaciuto tutto. La spiaggia di Sougia è vicinissima (10 min di macchina) e nonostante non sia così famosa e consigliata a noi è piaciuta particolarmente perché non è affollata, è piena di trattorie con cibo tipico tra cui scegliere e il mare è bello e pulito.

La struttura è meravigliosa ma non è immersa nella natura come speravamo. Non tutte le stanze godono di una vista privata e ciò ne rovina un po’ la bellezza. L’illuminazione in bagno è bella ma insufficiente: almeno in corrispondenza dello specchio ci vorrebbe la possibilità di accendere una luce dedicata per potersi vedere bene. In generale è un luogo adatto a soggiorni non troppo lunghi a nostro parere.

Nous avons passé un séjour exceptionnel au sein de cet hôtel à taille humaine, où nous avons eu la chance d’être surclassés. Le personnel était aux petits soins et arrangeant, donnant de très bons conseils quant aux restaurants et visites des alentours. Mention spéciale à Maria et Georgia pour leur accueil, leur gentillesse et les attentions appréciées. La chambre était bien équipée, spacieuse, avec piscine privée et extérieur parfait pour se ressourcer au calme. Le ménage était effectué chaque jour, avec une attention particulière aux détails. Le room service était rapide et les prix corrects (merci pour tous les iced latte :)). Le petit-déjeuner, à la carte et servi en chambre, était bon et copieux. L’hôtel est idéalement situé dans un petit village, à deux pas d’une taverne et à 10 minutes en voiture de Sougia (et la plage). En résumé, un hôtel 3 étoiles qui en mériterait une de plus : nous y reviendrons avec plaisir ! Marie & Valentin

Seuls bémols : l’insonorisation n’est pas parfaite, ce qui peut poser problème si les voisins ne sont pas respectueux. Les rideaux ne permettent pas d’être dans le noir complet dès que le jour se lève. Cependant, ces deux points ne nous ont pas dérangés pendant notre séjour !

Clean and beautiful design

We had a phenomenal stay here. Complete luxury. Beautiful private rooms, with amazing terrace area with private pool. Food served to your room was fantastic quality. The staff could not do more for you, we were even brought complimentary wine to our room when our evening meal took slightly longer than expected. Reception staff gave great recommendations of where to go/explore/eat. Overall an amazing relaxing stay in a gorgeous location with lovely staff who are a credit to the hotel.

La gentillesse et la disponibilité de toute l'équipe. Ceux-ci mettent tout en œuvre pour que vous passiez un excellent séjour.
