Adoramos o hotel e principalmente as pessoas e seu atendimento. O melhor café da manhã é que tomamos na Argentina foi o do hotel. Excelente localização.

Lugar com ótima localização, confortável, limpo, bonito e com equipe muito atenciosa aos detalhes. Assim que cheguei, me explicaram sobre os Glaciares e quando fui embora me ajudaram com taxi.

Had a great experience at this smaller, boutique hotel. Staff (Mattias, Mariano) were super helpful and very friendly. They were the star of the show. Very personable down to our names written on our little room sign.

Rooms were a little on the smaller size, but again this is a smaller boutique hotel and we were coming from a larger hotel/room, to be fair. Still very nice experience.

Good location slightly away from the main street, clean hotel, shared areas and room. Excellent breakfast. Helpful, cheerful staff.

Great breakfast, very accomodating and friendly staff. They upgraded my room for free and were so willing to help with anything!

They were very nice with us to help us to get a baby bathtub, since the bathrooms don’t have a tub—or at least the room we stayed in didn’t. The place is quite new, so everything is spotless and in great condition.

Staff is exceptional, the stay felt so personal- like you're staying with family! Rooms/hotel were extremely quiet, beautiful common spaces filled with comfortable seating and books. Breakfast is fantastic- fresh fruit cups were such a wonderful touch. Parking right in front of the hotel, a quick 2 block walk to the center of town. Great restaurant and activity recommendations.

El mejor hotel que pudimos haber encontrado. Muy lindo, cómodo y con una atención de diez. El personal es súper atento y te ayudan con todo lo que necesites, incluso con los traslados y excursiones. Nos sentimos muy cuidados durante toda la estadía.

El hotel es súper lindo, las habitaciones cómodas y limpias. El desayuno es muy completo y el staff muy amable y dispuesto a ayudar en todo momento.

Algunas habitaciones que se ofrecen en Booking solamente se pueden pagar en efectivo o por transferencia. Esto no es necesariamente un problema del hotel, pero al no estar muy claro en la plataforma es mejor preguntar al momento de reservar para saber de antemano.

We stayed in one of the two bedroom cabins. It was tired, heaters malfunctioned and boiled leaked. Badly needed updating/maintenance.

Privacidade, localização e extrema gentileza dos funcionários

Calefação a gás em ambiente interno, em equipamentos q não pareciam novos e com manutenção regular. Restrição no fornecimento do pó de café e do papel higiênico. A recepção ficou 2 dias fechada.

I really wanted to give this 5 stars but I can’t. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are great and the staff friendly. The downside. Payment. Despite having a booking which was “pay at property”, my payment was taken before I arrived using the card I’d used to hold the booking. This wasn’t checked with me. As a consequence they added an extra 15% (as per the t&cs for card payments). If I’d agreed to this AT THE PROPERTY it would have been fine but to have the payment taken in advance without checking so an extra 15% is added, isn’t right. They also deny any wrongdoing on this. I’d have paid in cash at the property but their actions didnt give me this choice.

This is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. It's a boutique hotel with five-star service. Rosa and Matías and the other staff are phenomenal. They made us feel like family. The breakfast buffet is a huge and delicious spread. There are cafes and restaurants close by, but the street is quiet. It's a few minutes walk from the beautiful Nimez nature reserve. Truly, we did not want to leave this gem of a hotel. Calafate is a wonderful base to explore this area of Patagonia. It was a trip of a lifetime.

Likes: bed comfortable, quiet, some staff were very attentive (Mariano), location was great Dislikes: no fridge in the room, checkout staff was terrible (appethetic not helpful, didn’t even acknowledge me), didn’t like that you couldn’t keep the key

The staff was wonderful and made us feel like we were in our own home. The breakfast was very good, both varied and abundant. Loved my stay here.

I liked everything about my stay at Madre Tierra Patagonia.

Staff was very nice. Rooms were clean, but basic. There were no amenities at the hotel. Basic breakfast was served. The best part of this hotel is an outstanding local guide — Mariano. We were beyond thrilled with Mariano and his expert knowledge of the area. An exceptional guide! Great personality and highly knowledgeable of the most important area attractions. Very experienced and goes out of his way to make every outdoor excursion the very best. Mariano is a true find!

A great little hotel, with helpful staff and tasty breakfast

Every thing is ok.

Nice, cozy hotel, its unique wood setting as well as the beautiful furniture with nice history behind building it, was authentic. Breakfast was great with such great friendly staff. It’s close to main restaurants and shopping area.

Mariano and his staff provided an excellent service . Provided great suggestion and support for areas to visit. Definitely will come back.

Breakfast was delicious and they made eggs how I like them :)

I can't think of a thing

The location right in El Calafate - very convenient

Outrageous price for a tiny room where you can’t even open your suitcases. The bathroom is so cramped that the door hits the toilet, and the bidet is practically unusable due to lack of space. They overcharge for breakfast by about 30%. Instead of the advertised 30 USD, they charge 40 USD. The Booking acknowledged the issue and refunded us. We appreciate the platform’s fairness and customer care. Make sure to check your credit card statement and do not pay (!) in cash. In general, I do not recommend having breakfast at the hotel. Right across the street is a bakery called Don Luis, where everything costs about a third of the hotel’s prices and you can pay by credit card. The staff is arrogant, resorting to insults and threats toward guests.

I regret not paying attention to the reviews from Melissa, Jeff, Luis, Alexander, and others before booking, as they described the same issues I experienced. Take their warnings seriously before deciding to stay here.

The staff were so kind and helpful and welcomed us with a bottle of champagne since it was our honeymoon. They helped us coordinate activities in the national park and provided transportation. It was overall a wonderful experience!

Matthias and the rest of the staff were delightful: very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were spotless and comfortable, and the location was perfect: very short walk to the town center, but peaceful and quiet.

Noise from the hallway is fairly easy to hear inside your room. But as the hotel is small this didn’t happen often and was a very minor issue.

We had a wonderful stay at Madre Tierra. The hotel is located a few blocks off the main road which made it very convenient for shopping and dining out. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were VERY friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Madre Tierra!

Tiny bedrooms that you could not turn around in without feeling you were going to knock something over! Our friends had their toiletries knocked over in the bathroom with toothbrushes ending up in the toilet! Breakfast was offered at a price twice that you paid for across the road at our favourite cafe

The hosts were very helpful and hospitable. The breakfast was amazing. Room, super comfortable. All the suggestions from the staff were spot on.

I wish I had known about the cash only payment, I would have planned better. Ended up paying a premium for the credit card "work around".

We had a lovely stay at MadreTierra - from our initiial welcome (including a refeshing glass of freshly squeezed juice) to the comfy room and delicious breakfast everything was great. Staff were also very helpful in arranging a taxi to the airport. Would highly reccommend!

Lovely hotel with a fantastic breakfast! Just two blocks walking distance to town makes this a great place to explore the Calafate area. The staff are very warm and the room was super comfortable with great bathroom products and small touches to make you feel right at home.

I travel quite a bit but was impressed with the staff. I especially want to thank Daniel who helped me with a late checkin. Never have I had such care taken of me by a staff member. He was marvelous.

Great location and comfortable room. The staff were helpful and spoke good English.

Average hotel with good location. We were out right by the reception and while at dinner money was stolen out of our room’s safe. I had discussed paying for breakfast with the front desk attendant and he insisted on USD instead of pesos. I returned to my room and quickly grabbed the money and paid for the breakfast we had. When we returned later that evening it appeared that someone had “turned down” our room. Straightening the sheets and moving a blanket off the bed. A little sign from the hotel staff was placed on the corner of the bed. As we were checking out the next day we cleared out the safe to pack and found $40 USD missing. We notified the front desk and we were told there was a key to open the safe and they had cameras they would review to see if someone had snuck in and taken the key to then steal from our safe. It seems very clearly to be an inside job. We had to catch a bus early the next day and were staying in a location without wifi until now. Will be following up with the owners.

I loved the staff and how welcoming they were. They made me feel like family.

The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. Luckily I had many late nights and early mornings. This should not deter you since the place is great and everything is just a walk away.

We are writing this from the airport after being dropped off by Mariano of MadreTierra. This was the most amazing spot to stay! Mariano made us feel like family. When one of our day tours fell through on the morning of the tour, Mariano arranged a full day for us to hike in el Chaltén. It was incredible and no doubt better than the tour that didn’t work out. Abby helped us navigate reserving national park tickets online (our Spanish is very limited). And when we needed laundry done last minute, again Mariano saved the day!! The room was perfect and we slept very well. The property is located near great restaurants and the staff suggested places to eat (all were good)! Without a doubt, if you are visiting el Calafate, stay here!

It was really well located just off the main street 'Liberator' with an abundance of great restaurants close by. The staff are very accommodating and the place is very clean. Would stay here again.

It was a little pricey but we were in 'high season'.

A very unique property, very nice staff with personal touch (rooms don't have numbers, they go by colors, and first names of the guests are written on the chalkboard on the door). There is a very cozy common sitting area with and even a yoga room. And by the way, breakfast is delicious.

Very charming boutique hotel a short walk from the Main Street. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included and every day was many fresh fruits, made to order eggs and meat and a delicious variety of fresh pastries. I would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to my next visit! Thanks to everyone!

Comfortable and exceptionally well-maintained facility. Genuinely friendly and helpful team. Delicious and customized breakfast includes local pastry treats, fresh meats and cheeses, yogurt and toppings, fresh juices, and coffee. Central location, being two blocks from main street or three blocks from the lake.

We only could stay one night as our flight was booked to leave the day. Next time we will spend more time here. I recommend NOT using Booking to make the reservation. Contact hotel directly.

This was a really cute place to stay for a fairly reasonable rate (not cheap because we had to pay up front, and in dollars). I'm under the impression that it's not easy to find such cozy places in El Calafate. The place felt more like a BandB because of its small scale (almost like a little house). It has a lounge, a Yoga nook, and it's kept at very comfortable temperatures. We didn't eat breakfast there, as we don't usually have large breakfasts and therefore don't want to shell out for more than we'd eat, but the food looked good. In any case we managed to find some excellent coffeeshops nearby, but I can also see why people might want to eat in-house, as it's hard to find good food in El Calafate. We didn't ask much of the staff, but the cleaning staff was quite friendly, and the front desk helped us obtain a prepaid taxi back to the airport for only a couple of extra dollars. It was very quiet and on a side street that was still very close to the main drag and to the Laguna Nimez bird reserve. I know that they can point you towards excursions as well but we'd pre-arranged things on that front and were happy with our choice.

Checkout time was awfully early (10 am) and they were inflexible about that, though they did allow us to store our suitcases. It might be more affordable to go with a hotel that doesn't require full payment up front given that the exchange rate fluctuates so much in Argentina.
