Reviewed May 31, 2026The unit my mother stayed in was immaculate, new, clean and modern, with a comfortable bed. It had a heat pump which was very handy and kept warm when they sun wasn't streaming through (the view outside was beautiful!). Check in was a breeze, the lady at the front desk was very lovely and the owner was wonderful to deal with. Location was perfect for us as it was just around the corner to my family's home which made it very convenient in walking distance, would 100% stay again and recommend.

Reviewed Jan 29, 2026What I like about it the most is its a family run business, the staff are very kind and welcoming. We checked in late, and were greeted with smiles and warmth. As it was only an overnight stay the cabin provided everything we needed.

The wifi didn’t work at all. The cutlery tray was stinky with spoons being very dirty. The property wasn’t vacuumed properly.

Bathroom was so small, felt like the campsite could see us through the window, shower smelt like cat pee, no wifi, no sky TV, couch was small and uncomfortable, towels smelt of smoke, room was not cleaned while we were there. Not told about extra charge for dog. So disappointing after reading all the good reviews. Definitely not worth $265 a night

Reviewed Dec 7, 2025At first glance, the property seemed a bit disconcerting but it proved to be amazing. We were in unit 3 which had obviously been recently remodeled & the place was wonderful! We were not a far drive from the town center so we were happy with location. One of the best places we stayed on our 26 day NZ trips!
The only thing I didn’t like was there was nowhere to hang up a jacket. No closet or hooks.

Reviewed Oct 19, 2025The motel room Unit 3 has just been updated and was very nice when we got inside. Bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was good with a full size fridge/ freezer. First motel we have had with a rain shower head, amazing shower.
The cups were quite dirty so we didnt use them. Could do with a smoke detector as we couldnt find one in the unit.

The dishes were put away in the cupboard dirty. Not a major but the carport was a tight squeeze but could easily park next to room instead which was fine. We couldn’t find a. Power point in the second room to charge our phone but just did it in the lounge which was totally fine.

Reviewed Oct 1, 2025The property was tucked away from the centre of Taupō, which in itself was great because then it was nice and quiet during the night. The staff were great, very welcoming and communicative. We travelled with out small dog, and the unit size was perfect for her. There was a power strip in the kitchen that was also very handy as we managed to put all our devices to charge with it at the same time. The dairy at reception was quite handy as well.
The bin lid in our unit was broken and the pedal wasn't working. The bin was tucked in a corner next to the fridge, which would've been great if the pedal lid was working; but since it wasn't we had to move it to the middle of the kitchen to facilitate access and we had to fully grab the lid with our hands to open it. Small issue, easy to fix, but it was a bit of a minor hurdle during out stay.

Negatives - Although this property accepts fur babies, they have 5 huskies in the property which are not dog friendly. Me and my 2 dogs always have a quick dash across the vacant lot to do their business. One time the dogs saw us which tried to go out accidentally broke the window, we nearly missed the broken glasses from above. It was scary! Both of my dogs are friendly and never had a fight in their lives 🤪

The host is so lovely and welcoming and having the little dairy right at the front is super convenient!! And to top it all off the beautiful view of the lake from your own like deck was👌

Reviewed Aug 25, 2025The room was renovated – everything felt very modern. There’s a brand-new smart TV, comfy recliner sofa, a stylish kitchen, and a bathroom is freshly refurbished. You can tell the host has really put a lot of care into it. We travelled with our dog, and the flooring was perfect – clean, modern hard floors instead of carpet. In most pet-friendly places you can still smell pets or strong deodoriser, but here it was spotless and fresh. Such a thoughtful touch from the host. The host was also very welcoming and made us feel at home. We really appreciated the effort and hospitality. We would definitely choose to stay here again next time we’re in Taupō.

Reviewed Aug 17, 2025I had a wonderful stay at Windsor motel! The beds were super comfy, towels were provided, and there were extra pillows for added comfort. We even got to cook using a portable hot plate (with all the necessary cooking utensils supplied). The location is great—close to Taupō town yet in a very calm and peaceful area. The elderly lady, who I believe is the owner, was incredibly sweet, welcoming, and accommodating. Highly recommend!
