Sadly there was a lot of early street noise that affected our sleep and the bed was also too hard for us. Staff not especially friendly either.

Reviewed Sep 18, 2026We kregen upgrade naar suite. Wat een mooie kamer is dat. Alles zag er mooi en verzorgd uit. Locatie midden in het idyllische dorp is ideaal. We moesten bij de deur dineren ivm ruhetag. Maar er zitten in de omgeving genoeg leuke restaurantjes.

Reviewed Sep 13, 2026Karoline the receptionist was very helpful and welcoming. Our room was in the newer guest wing a 1 minute walk around the corner from the main hotel. We had also reserved a car parking space which was in a secure garage adjacent to the guest wing. Our room was very well appointed and had been beautifully decorated. Everything was exceptionally clean. Very, very good shower. Breakfast was served in a traditional German pension style room in the older hotel building. It was all very nice and breakfast was very good. It was the continental type buffet breakfast. The hotel is situated in the middle of the older picturesque part of Gengenbach with a variety of restaurants and shops. We were very pleased with the standard of the hotel and the staff were very, very nice.
We liked everything. It was very hot when we visited and we had a fan in our room as well as a full length opening French door opening on to a private, secure courtyard scene. There wasn't any air conditioning in our room but this did not affect us. Only mentioning this here so that others are aware that the hotel does at least provide a fan and a well ventilated room with the opportunity to open a large window.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2026Die Lage, das Personal, das Zimmer war alles gut und sehr freundlich. Parkplätze und auch eine Tiefgarage direkt an der Unterkunft. Auf dem Rückweg aus Italien als Zwischenübernachtung genutzt, ein uns sonst unbekanntes Städtchen, welches uns positiv überrascht hat. Eine schöne alte Fachwerk-Altstadt mit Türmen und netten Restaurants mit badischer Küche. Genau passend um nach langer Autofahrt noch etwas zu schlendern und dann gut zu essen um ausgeschlafen weiterzuleiten. Zur Küche des Hotels können wir nichts sagen, da war Betriebsurlaub.

Reviewed Aug 14, 2026I really liked the welcome and the lovely breakfast. I had a room in the annex around the corner and it had everything needed, in perfect order, in a modern style.
I would have liked to stay in the original historic building. The town. of which the hotel is part, is so beautiful . I probably didn't read every detail of the description to know I was in another wing.

Reviewed Aug 7, 2026Das Hotel liegt zentral in der Altstadt von Gengenbach, umgeben von zahlreichen Restaurants. Das schließt natürlich etwas Lärm von außen ein, aber damit kann man - notfalls mit Ohrstöpseln - leben. Der Bahnhof ist nur wenige Minuten entfernt. Man ist mit der Bahn z.B. schnell in Straßburg ohne dort einen Parkplatz suchen zu müssen. Das Hotel ist auch ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen rund um Gegenbach. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig, es gab jeden Tag Lachs. Allerdings hatte für Langzeitgäste etwas Abwechslung bei Wurst (Hausmacher!) und Schnittkäse nichts schaden können. Das zum Hotel gehörende Restaurant hat Tische mitten im Leben an der Straße und in einem netten ruhigen Innenhof. Ein Besuch lohnt sich. Bei den Temperaturen in diesem Sommer schien uns ein Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage eine Herausforderung zu sein. Doch es kühlte draußen abends/nachts so ab, dass wir bei offenem Fenster gut schlafen konnten. Und morgens gab es ja guten Kaffee. Das gesamte Personal überzeugt mit freundlicher Zuwendung.

We wijzigden de 'halfpension'-formule naar een 'a-la-carte' omdat het -naar ons aanvoelen- erg lang duurde eer de drie gangen opgediend waren. Op de maaltijden zelf was niets aan te merken!
