Castaway Island Hostel

Great hostel, beautiful, clean, vibrant, comfortable, extremely good value for money. I booked the private bungalow which was really clean, had a cute balcony, water was provided the first day, fridge, mosquito net. It was one of the only balinese-style bungalows that wasn't so open to insects which I really appreciated compared to the rest of my accomodations during the trip 😅 the place is so serene, the staff is really helpful and they are also nice and kind, always available. The hostel has a chill social vibe but nothing too forced which I really appreciate as I don't always have the social drive charged! The 2 pools are beautiful and clean. The location is close to some beaches and it's true that the route can be a bit dark during the night for a short walk but nothing really negative for me. I therefore enjoyed the Serenity. Nice warungs around. Definitely recommended and the value for money is excellent.

Everything. I have stayed in over 100 hostels and Castaway is at the top of the list. Amazing staff, friendly and positive atmosphere, great facilities and very affordable. Will recommend to all friends visiting Nusa Lembongan, thank you Adam and the Castaway team!

Maybe it’s a bit of a bumpy path to get too but that didn’t matter at all,

the staff are amazing and accommodating, the layout of the place brings everyone together but allows quiet time, and the room well exceeded my expectations. when they opened the door to the room and bathroom in the private bungalow, it was very clean and spacious with good hot water and freezing cold AC. Thank you Deko and Castaway staff it's been great.

The roads around the town and especially leading up to the hostel have a lot of pot-holes, but it's not a big issue, just couldn't think of anything else.

Sono stata 4 notti al Castaway Hostel e sono stata benissimo. Ero ammalata e il personale si è preso cura di me facendomi sentire a casa, coccolata e al sicuro. L’ostello è molto bello, ottima l colazione, il videoproiettore con i film, la musica, la piscina, e il personale. Grazie sopratutto ad Adam e l altro ragazzo che mi hanno regalato momenti di gioia

The staff is amazing. They always help with everything and strive to create a wonderful environment. I would say it's one of the best hostels in Nusa L. The staff are always chatting with us, asking if everything is okay. I stayed there for over a week and everything was incredible.

absolutely loved my stay here. I felt so welcomed as soon as I got there. Adam and Volos were incredible and they absolutly make the hostel and I can't thank them enough for making my time there so amazing. I didn't want to leave!! They were always wanting to help you and always make sure you are okay. Deko was also great with organising taxis to and from locations which is great as I didn't drive a scooter! The hostel itself is super spacious with a great pool and the beds were comfy!

Soooo nice. Beautifully finished and good social atmosphere. Staff member André was so nice and we had a big laugh while he gave me a ride from the ferry port to the hostel on his scooter. Some really nice warungs close by and a minimart too. Feels so clean, they make your bed every day too! What!!!! Hahaha. You’ll want a scooter or to budget for taxis if you wanna get to the town part of the island. I’d stay here again soo willingly.

I had an upper bunk which didn’t have a curtain at the foot of the bed so I had to use a towel to block out the light. The scooter I rented from them was the last one available and not in very good condition, although it got the job done ;-)

The private rooms were gorgeous, really spacious and comfortable, lovely bathrooms. I liked the pool with the sun loungers. Friendly staff- really helpful with organising taxis etc. really close to Mushroom bay and the south beaches which were all lovely to sit/swim/have a drink at! I’ll definitely be returning.

The road to the property is bumpy and tricky to drive a scooter on- not really a problem! It’s a bit further from the main bars and shops, but you have great access to nice beaches instead!

Had a wonderful stay here! The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and I especially loved Bob, the friendly ginger cat. The hostel had a great social atmosphere, with daily activities like movie nights and karaoke. In the evenings, there were always people playing pool and darts or just hanging out, making it easy to meet other travellers. The location was very convenient, less than a 10-minute walk from Mushroom Bay, which is a great spot for swimming and catching ferries. The hostel can also help arrange scooter hire, transport, and tours such as snorkelling and island hopping, which made exploring the island really easy. The beds were comfortable and had privacy curtains, and secure lockers were provided for valuables. The pool was clean and refreshing, and complimentary tea, instant coffee, and filtered drinking water were available throughout the stay. Highly recommend!

Klein paradijsje vlakbij Mushroom Bay. Heel aardig personeel, prachtige bungalows en erg gezellige plek met veel sociale reizigers.

Such a lovely place 2 pools, really comfy beds and the staff are what make it. They are so kind, welcoming and funny. They genuinely want to get to know you and you will have a better time if you get to know them too.

Shower heads in the 8 dorm need changing as the water is just leaking out of one side.

Gorgeous property, clean, tidy, beautiful outdoor space. The most friendly people from the second I arrived on the boat to the moment I left. Great taxi service too. The snorkelling trip through the hostel is SO good - recommend. Room was basic but clean and comfortable.

Un des meilleurs dans lequel j'ai pu dormir durant mon tour d'Asie, le personnel est vraiment gentil et organise beaucoup d'activités pour rencontrer les autres voyageurs. Il y a deux piscines, ce qui permet d'avoir une ambiance plus fun et une autre plus calme, les communs sont spacieux et bien amménagés!

The staff were so friendly, especially Andre who did an amazing job at keeping everyone entertained with his evening activities. Tours such as snorkelling could easily be booked with the hostel and for a great price in comparison to other tour providers. Breakfast was good and the drinks were a good price.

Walking distance to beach and cafes, nice and clean rooms! I loved the cat and the two dogs; they also organize many different trips (manta ray snorkling) and also ferry tickets etc (all come with a pick up)

No hot water for shower Reception gave wrong information about ferry to Sanur. The first one leaves at 7AM and it leaves on time. They advertise a happy hour but don’t actually tell you what the discount or freebie is

I spent 3 nights here and honestly, had the best time. The hostel is perfectly located, really close to Mushroom Bay, which makes everything super convenient. You can also rent scooters directly there, which was a huge plus for exploring the island. The place has two swimming pools, the common areas are always clean and the whole atmosphere is just amazing. But what really made my stay special was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to Andre for his incredible singing talent and good vibes, Paulo for his scooter (sorry again), and Deko for everything. You guys made this place feel like home ✨ I would definitely come back!

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in over five months of traveling. The staff were by far the best part, so kind and welcoming. Clean room and bathroom, beds made every day, nice pool and common areas, close to the beach… I would definitely come back!

Chill atmosphère, calme, 2 piscines, proche de mushroom bay (7 mm à pied) et de petits warungs sympas autour. Très beaux jardins et espaces communs à vivre, billard, tapis de yoga … Dortoirs et SDB OK. Mais surtout un personnel aux petits soins. Un grand merci à André, Polos … et aux 3 autres personnes qui gèrent les lieux au mieux. Propositions d’excursions, location scooter, taxi, laundry…. J’y ai passé 2 bonnes soirées

Malgré le soin porté par le personnel, les locaux se dégradent dû à l’humidité (murs qui s’effritent dans les dortoirs)

Fantastic staff, two pools, chill out vibe, green gardens, pool table, cards, darts, volleyball, yoga mats… a perfect place to relax on Nusa Lembongan. Privat rooms also available- dorm rooms in good condition. Outside toilet and shower also available as extra to en-suite. Walking distance 5min from mushroom beach arrival by speed boat.

Andre is truly amazing. He will do everything you need and he really makes the vibe of the hostel. The private rooms are brand-new and great. The dorms are fine, nice beds, just the mosquito's are annoying. Really one of the best places I have been.

I ended up staying at castaway hostel for two weeks. It was extremely hard to leave. The setting is perfect. It's just off the main road so you don't get any noise from the main road. The hostel is super social it was like a little family. The staff remember your name they make the most effort to do anything for you and help you in any way. There are lots of social activities in the evenings like beer pong and pool tournaments but it's not a crazy loud party atmosphere which is nice. The pool is amazing. Beds are super comfortable with a curtain. Rooms get cleaned everyday. They also serve some breakfast 🥞 which is also yummy. I can't recommend castaway enough and would go back in heart beat. They also rent bikes from the reception

The pool is amazing and the beds are comfortable. The staff is super friendly and it feels like being home. One time I was journaling in a cafe when people and staff from the hostel sat on another table. They remembered my name and told me to sit with them. So thoughtful. Great people and everyone super friendly. Perfect for a soo traveler to meet new people

Everything was perfect and Ben the snorkeling trip they offered was amazing! We saw mantas, lots of turtles, had free photos taken underwater and even saw dolphins! Also they offer shuttles to Sanur for a good price with high quality boats. Everything is amazing!

I really loved the staff! Wonderful location, convenience of motorbike rental and scooter taxi. I liked the a/c and the bathroom was inside the room and I liked all females in my room. Great they had provided a locker with key included! Other guests were friendly, nice vibes, felt like I was at home, very comfortable.

Comfortable beds with curtains for privacy, clean bathrooms, well-maintained common areas. Nice and helpful staff, they helped me to arrange a last minute tour.

The location is close to the Mushroom Bay beach, which is a good thing, but a part pf the path to the hostel is unlit and goes through a kind of forest, so I didn’t feel comfortable walking there at night.

The staff are amazing, special shout to Deko for teaching me how to ride a motorcycle and trusting me to bring the bike back in one piece 🙂 social hostel - pool table, darts, pool etc are available. Staff cleaned daily. I loved my stay here and would come back.

The road to the hostel is rough, gravel, rocks etc a challenge even for those that have been riding for a while. Take extra care at night, especially if it rains. A bit of a walk to restaurants and shops. You need a scooter to get around the island. No grab or Gojek.

Andre, Bon Bon, Deko, and adre, are all so friendly and make you feel at home.

It was super social, nice social area as well as a pool table. On top of that the staff was super cool and makes the stay even more enjoyable! Definitely a recommendation!
