Forever City Hotel

Worth every penny! Perfect weekend getaway with friends. We stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights and had an amazing time. The hotel offers fantastic value for money and outstanding hospitality. The food was great, and the morning view was absolutely beautiful—so peaceful and energizing! Even though the hotel is 2–3 km outside of town, there are plenty of shops nearby. The entire area is calm, decent, and quiet. My office friends and I enjoyed every bit of our stay. Highly recommended!

We arrived in Sri Lanka very early in the morning (around 2 am), and although there was some confusion with our booking—likely due to booking.com not notifying the hotel about our late-night arrival—the staff handled the situation with exceptional kindness. The team who received us were incredibly understanding and made us feel safe and welcome despite the hour. They quickly arranged a room for us and ensured we were comfortable. Their hospitality really stood out and made a stressful situation much easier to navigate. We truly appreciated their accommodating and friendly approach.

During our stay, we noticed that the hotel is quite popular for daytime events like birthday parties, receptions, and social gatherings. Our room was located right next to the swimming pool, so we could hear some of the activity and chatter during the day. Fortunately, this wasn’t an issue for us as we were mostly out exploring and only returned in the evenings to rest. Our friends, who stayed in a different room farther from the pool, experienced much less noise. Overall, it didn’t affect our experience, but something to keep in mind if you're planning to relax in the room during the day.

The room had plenty of space. The A/C worked great. The staff and their service were excellent - they were friendly, polite, helpful and professional. They catered to my husband’s dietary requirements to the best of their ability for which we are very grateful. There was a good TV, and water bottles were provided for the room. There is an excellent restaurant downstairs adjacent to the hotel (also part of theirs) and the meal I had from them was tasty and their small portion was quite large.

The noise level was not great. We could hear everything so clearly that was happening downstairs (which was the reception and dining area) - this disrupted our sleep early in the morning and at night. There was also a balcony outside our room, and we could hear when people were sat there socialising/eating/drinking - this happened both evenings we were there. The bathroom wasn’t up to a good standard; there was a strange smell in the bathroom, there is a big hole where the extractor fan was meant to be that lead outside so we can hear people talking under the pipework for that (grounds of the hotel), the shower wasn’t powerful but it did the job (after getting them to fix the plug as it wasn’t working initially), the shower was right above the toilet which meant the toilet was completely wet anytime we used the shower and the shelf and towel holder were barely hanging on the wall. The toilet seat was quite dirty. The mattress was quite hard (although I think this is the norm in most households in Sri Lanka) and one pillow was too soft but the staff provided another so that helped. There was a rip on the curtain that needs mending. I am not sure of the cleanliness of the catering/food downstairs (not their separate restaurant as I haven’t been inside there). In the dining area directly below the rooms, they once had an engagement reception and they had a wedding cake there, which had lots of flies landing on it constantly. But no effort was made to cover it or get rid of the flies. This leads me to believe that same care and attention was given to the food that were prepared for us.

Best thing first: The receptionist and all the staff at this hotel are so nice and helpful. They are doing a really good job! Big shoutout! The hotel itself is ok for a night or two. It has got a pool which is nice for the kids. Family room is alright and clean, A/C is working fine, bathroom is nice. The family room is located right at the pool, very close to the dining hall.

Unfortunately for us there was a birthday party being held at the pool, which is literally right in front of the family room. So people were having a good time, listening to very loud live music right in front of our room. I am not sensitive to loud music but it was so loud we couldn’t sleep. I talked to the receptionist and he was really trying to help and was so understanding. I do understand that the party people also booked a service at the hotel so he was in a really bad situation. I don’t blame him. I very much do blame the manager of this hotel though to allow a party at the pool with live music while giving out rooms to families literally right in front of the room!

A bit too far away from the Colombo city, the cooling in the room was not the best. The air conditioning wasn’t cooling the room

There are many beautiful garden areas, where you can have some shootings with loving ones. Room and bathroom was clean. Had hot water, AC, TV. As per the request, they provided veg only breakfast with fruits. Foods were delicious.

Room area was bit smaller and had no tea/dining table. Had only one chair. Did not get any welcome drink.

I booked this hotel for my in laws who flew in for our wedding during their stay in Sri Lanka. They were extremely happy about the service as well as security at the property. The entire place was clean and the staff was very helpful in attending to my in laws every need. My in laws had both breakfast and lunch at the in-house restaurant and they were satisfied with the food quality and quantity. Great value for money and as always in Lanka, the best feature is the hospitality of the staff. Highly recommended!

This is not something I didn’t like but worth mentioning to future guests. Hotel gate is closed at 11pm but the security guard gave me his number (without me even asking for it) and he always answered every time we came late and open the gate. So make sure to get his phone number so he can open the gate for you.

Would have been ideal if there were blockout curtains specially if you are from a different time zone. Hot water system needs more pressure. And sound proofing for rooms as there’s a restaurant.

The reception lady is not doing her duties. She doesn't care about guests. Staff does not remember to serve our tea, breakfast even dinner. we had to make 5-6 calls to request a meal.

I liked the room, it was well furnished and had all the amenities. Also the pool area was nice. The property was clean and well maintained. The hotel helped us keep our luggage while we visited Colombo, very much appreciated.

I didn't like the service, we had breakfast and we had to wait more than 40 min, even for the fruit juice. We were woken up by loud music playing at the front of the hotel at 8 AM. Nice chill music but still way too loud. There were no sun beds in the pool area. The location is way too far from Colombo. This is maybe on us, didn't really check how far it was, but we had to drive 35+ min to get to Colombo, and in rush hour was a nightmare, more than 1.5 hours to get back to the hotel. So, not good if you are planning to visit Colombo frequently during your stay.

Good bed, nice location. There is dialog TV with all channels working. Clean room, safe to stay.

Nice convenient place with freedom. Easy access. Ample parking space. Nice staff. Clean rooms. Hot water shower available.

No kettle available. No facility to have a tea or coffee. Rooms are little bit smaller but manageable. No plug point available close to bed.

Very good stay. The staff is very afficient and friendly. A safe place. Clean and a beautiful place. A peaceful location in middle of the town. Food is delicious. Good room service. Hot water worked well. Clean bathroom.

Not enough pillows. No tea maker. But they provided tea in to the room in time. Appreciate it. Pool water is not very clear. But a nice pool area.

A cozy hotel with a photogenic atmosphere. In fact, many wedding couples come to take pictures! It is also the only hotel in the area with a good swimming pool. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The food was also nice.

A hair dryer was not available, though the staff tried hard to locate it. The downstairs rooms are a little noisy at some nights with people dining.
