Excellent location and lovely friendly helpful staff
In need of refurbishment
The location was great.
The breakfast was only available between 7am to 9am and was an uninspiring continental.
We didn't have breakfast and it was good it was not automatically included. There are excellent cafes in town,
There was quite a lot of noise from people outside the pub in the evening. The room was sparsely furnished. Only one chair, nowhere to hang towels. It was in need of re-decorating.
Very central, excellent breakfast ,extremely comfy bed and friendly and unfussy staff -just what I was looking for!
Location was great right in the centre of town, cooked breakfast was very good, staff helpful.
This standard room was clean small, basic but adequate. The bathroom was very very small, the bath was stained the sink plug was stuck in an almost closed position. We were on the 2nd floor with no lift so getting luggage up and down was not east, however a staff member did help us when we checked in . The hotel was clean but shabby, in need of some tlc .
Very central, very friendly staff, comfortable beds.
Room very run down, not very clean, bathroom in serious need of refurbishment, noisy until about 11.30 pm.
Nice location,
basic breakfast and a tired room
Fantastic town centre location in unpretentious pub Friendly staff and good breakfast served early (from 7am).
The staff were very friendly. They helped us with bringing our bags up the flight of stairs. The breakfast was good and it was in a central location.
It was warm in the room. It had a fan but it was still warm. That is not the Inn's fault.
Good price
Comfortable bed. The young staff were friendly & very helpful.
The room cleanliness could have been better. The 2 tier pricing system for drinks (cheaper if you used the app) was not good as the app was difficult to join & use, even the helpful staff had trouble with it.
The property is in a very good location.
The rooms are a bit dated, but still very comfortable.
All members of staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed on one of the hottest days of the year and the staff members were working really hard in difficult circumstances. The view of the abbey from our bedroom window was superb. The hotel is well-placed at the halfway point on our drive to Cornwall.
The premises are rather run down and in need of refurbishment. In some areas there were holes in the wallpaper. The food was terrible. We went down to dinner at 7pm and found that a number of items were off the menu (we were not the only ones affected by this). When we eventually found two steak items that were available the meat was, although cooked to our requirements, really tough and the baked potatoes dry. The next morning the breakfast bar consisted of a few croissants and Danish pastries, small boxes of cereal, one apple and the cooked element of poached eggs were hard and served on toast made of the cheapest bread available.
I have been staying at this inn for over ten years. It is heritage accommodation that has risen to the many challenges of upgrading and I was pleased to see this has recently been done well. It is exactly what it claims to be, and excellent value for the centre of Sherborne. The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful and the establishment has a warm, unpretentious atmosphere. I was given a quiet room, as requested, and there were no noise issues during the week I stayed there.
Nothing.
This is a budget hotel, so is fairly basic, though very functional. However, I would give it 5 stars for the staff (especially Katie) who went above and beyond to make my stay, and that of my friend very comfortable and pleasant. I would definitely return.

Location was excellent as were the staff, particularly Katie.
Perhaps some drawers in the room
Location. Breakfast. Room.

Very noisy slamming door into toilets on ground floor directly beneath Room 5.
Great location. Comfortable bed. Easy access to town with some good restaurants, cafe's bakeries and Waitrose all within an easy walk.
Rooms looked a bit tired (windows / sink slightly blocked).
Room was very comfortable.unfortunately there was not much left on the menu when we went for evening meal , no Sunday roasts left.
Restaurant was dissapointing.
Amazing staff, friendly and accommodating!
Central location with parking in Sherborne.
Room and general hotel decor was tired but clean and functional for one night.
beautiful house - the pub - the location
the bathroom would be a candidate for refurbishing... ... carpeted floor has seen better days...
In the centre of Sherborne
I have been given a parking fine of £60 even though as a resident who registered their car registration, I should be able to park for free. After speaking directly to the hotel they assured me that they would cancel this for me, however I now have a final demand from the private parking company who manage their car park. I will speak to the Hotel again tomorrow to hopefully sort this out but it does leave a feeling of disappointment.
It was near to the abbey and near to the venue that our party were meeting in. Friendly staff.
Very old windows that we couldn’t keep the street noise out and drinkers from the pub were making during the World Cup.
Great meal at the pub, clean and tidy rooms. Staff were friendly.
It would have been helpful to have a small fridge in the room.
Location
Neglect of property by parent company
Room was spacious and clean
The breakfast was a bit hit and miss. No plates, porridge was worst ever, no yougart or fruit. Bread was hard and just aswell was being toasted. Fry was nice , when said musrooms inclyded should have said one slice of mushroom incuded and was black.
Toilet seat was cracked and it could have been cleaner.
Room was good. It was a little warm to say the least, but the bed was extra comfy and the bathroom huge.
Heat, and only a fan. But that cant be helped in a heatwave!!
Cheerful and good value. Misssed air on in the boiling heat
Air con
Great location
Room small, dirty wallpaper under window, loo paper holder falling off wall. Sink and bathroom not spotlessly clean.. Pupmb had run out of beer.... it's a Marston's pub!!
Overall a great experience
Nothing
Nice room and bathroom
Went for breakfast on first morning of my stay, but after the 1 staff member I saw said 'hello' he disappeared and so after waiting 10 mins to order a cooked breakfast, I left. Did not bother trying again on other 3 mornings
Central location, right across from Abbey. Decent pub.
Showers could do with a bit of extra pressure and sprucing up.
Easy to find and right in the centre of town with parking at the rear. The staff were friendly and the food tasty and inexpensive
All was good
Every thing that I needed
Just perfect place to stay
Nothing
The noise is unbelievable, the heat in the rooms unbreathable. The fag smoke from the pub and young drinking below until late is awful. The Abbey bells all night. The blocked sink drain in the basin was horrible
Ideally located, just opposite the abbey. Excellent breakfast included in the price, and evening food was generally very good as well. Staff always very pleasant and amenable.
Room had peeling wallpaper and the towels were dirty, encrusted with what looked like glue. Shower curtain had a big brown stain on it. Needs a good freshening up.
location was perfect and good parking.
a little dated and could do with some TLC
great local nice pub friendly nice breakfast
Good location, parking, friendly staff No noise from the pub downstairs
Room and bathroom a little tired, ( flaking paint and bathroom needs re grouting) however had an excellent nights sleep and it was very clean.
Central location for exploring the area. Large, comfortable bed. Friendly, welcoming staff. Chose this venue as parking was available. Nice view of the Abbey, especially in the evening when illuminated. Plenty of good options for eating
The bathroom was an awkward layout with the radiator opposite the toilet. Nothing else to report on
The cost for a single room at over £100 per night is excessive and should include breakfast. The decor in the room is tired and shabby with scruffy wallpaper
Room rate didn't include breakfast Shabby decor
Das Bett war gut und die Lage zentral! Parkplätze vorhanden.
Wir hatten leider Pech waren in der 2 Etage, es gab keinen Fahrstuhl.Für junge Leute sicherlich kein Problem!
Room basic but clean and comfortable.
No safe in the room. Breakfast continental buffet could have offered more choice, but I realise they probably don't have enough guests to justify this.
Well situated. Excellent breakfast and generally good food.
Room was tired, lots of scuff marks on the walls. Double bed actually two singles pushed together and not very comfortable. Food generally on the expensive side.
Excellent location in the middle of town and opposite the Abbey green. Easy parking round the back.
A nice sized twin room. Very comfy beds. We had lovely clean towels probably brand new. A large TV which was, great to watch when needed. Fantastic location and quiet. Also free parking was a big plus
The speed humps to the car park
Jo breakfast included in an expensive rate per night. Shabby room, needs new decor
Noisy as above the bar at night and dull decor
Great location in town with free parking on-site. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Bed was comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee making things in the room. Breakfast was good and it was nice to be able to have as much toast, juice etc as you liked as well as the cooked breakfast.
The bed was too big for the size of the room so you had to squeeze around the edge and avoid a shelf when trying to get out of the door or to the bathroom. The bathroom was quite tired and changing the temperature of the shower was tricky as the knob was hard to turn.
The room had not been cleaned The toilet was filthy. The accommodation was dilapidated and in poor repair. I could not bring myself to use the shower. I had to clean the toilet before using it.
See above.
Food was good
Room was very tired, ie wallpaper peeling from walls, bath ,sink and toilet quite stained. In need of a good make over. Very noisy from doors banging at all times.
Everything was perfect for me . Was not my first stay and won’t be my last
It was fine

Great vibe, great food, great people
It was perfect
The location was very good as I was singing with a choir in Sherborne Abbey and it was very close to the church . I was able to have breakfast even though I hadn’t ordered it in advance and I was able to park my car free of charge Al
Although it didn’t matter because I didn’t have much free time in the room I couldn’t get the TV to work
It was clean, comfortable and best location for our visit.
We arrived a little early for booking in but we're not allowed in even without a check to see if our rooms were ready.
Very friendly, extremely helpful. Great location in centre of Sherborne.
Perfect location opposite Abbey
Very basic, cost cutting very evident
Poor quality breakfast possibly because I was 10 minutes late. Scrambled eggs were cold and the bacon under cooked. The ambience would be improved if the ceiling lights were changed.

The location was perfect. Very close to the station and right in the centre of the town.
The room was a little tired ,really needed a face-lift. But on the plus side, the bed was really comfortable and the breakfast was good.
Easy parking at rear of hotel. Very helpful receptionist carried my case upstairs. Ordered my dinner and had a pleasant table in the bar. Lovely walk around the town and visited the Abbey and Castles. Lovely walks around the lake by the Castle. Market on the Sunday was well worth a visit. Very interesting buildings and friendly people.
My single bed was very uncomfortable. Had a problem with the shower which was too high and I couldn't move it.
The young staff were very efficient ,polite and helpful
The plumbing noises started with a quiet throbbing and increased in volume ,sometimes sounding like hippos mating until abating at about 11pm, only to resume early the next morning. Also directly above our room (no2) i think someone was rushing about rearranging furniture or moving a tumble dryer, this also stopped at about the same time.
Central location, spacipus tidy rooms.

Budget friendly. Ideal for visiting family and it’s located next to places of interest with shops nearby. Friendly staff. Nice size room with large on suite. Comfortable clean bed and warm room. Good clothing storage, large mirror with hairdryer. Plenty of tea and coffee making facilities provided. Clean towels and more provided on request. Able to lend me iron and ironing board.
Bedside lamp not working and decor was tired. Noise from downstairs but was expected due to being above the pub.
location
Everything was good staff, food, service, room. The only down side was room was on 2nd floor with no lift
Location of room on 2nd floor
Great location. Friendly helpful staff
Some of the decor needs a refresh.

Good stay
Welcoming, friendly and efficient staff who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. Good breakfasts and dinner. good location in this historic town - just right for our trip. Good parking which is always a bonus.
Can't think of anything!
Good location
Received a parking ticket despite entering car details into their portal.
Central location large rooms
bruit jusque tard dans la nuit d'un appareil situé à l'extérieur (compresseur ou air conditionné ?) mais très 'audible' jusque dans la chambre. réception : il faut s'adresser au pub adjacent pour demander sa clé
Free car parking, friendly staff, good value for money at £60 a night per room for our stay. (Would have been disappointed if it had been the £120 advertised on other nights tbh). Good location to explore Sherborne, easy come and go from hotel with own external key. I like hearing the Abbey bells - atmospheric. Beautiful old building.
Noisy building, (plumbing, pub noise travels up, outside in the street at closing time, barrel delivery at around 7am), fixtures and fittings are tired (taps, door furniture/locks)
Very basic breakfast
Very large room. Comfy beds. Everything was to my expectations for the price charged. In this day and age, it was reasonable value for money. Secure location to store our pedal bikes. Friendly reception female staff member.
The venue was showing signs of fair wear and tear. The young member of staff was pleasant but needs to recognise that empty plates should be taken away when delivering fresh drinks.
Nice breakfast, friendly staff and nice room

Great service. Great location. Nice breakfast.
Could do with triple internal glazing as close to the Abbey and bells chime every quarter. Also can be noisy outside from people on the outside tables. Beds are quite hard.
