The owner responded very quickly and friendly. Thank you very much. We will stay here again.
The TV wouldn't turn on.
Absolutely loved this place! Feels off the beaten track in a quiet part of the island, enjoyed the birdsong at night and in the morning, and the view out over bush and Putiki Bay. Close enough to walk to Palm Beach, or Onetangi Beach for those with more energy, and to/from the amenities in Ostend, and easy enough to grab regular buses around the island too. The unit had quirky charm and everything I needed, great shower, comfy bed, outdoor table & chairs and enough kitchen gear to support breakfast making and a tired easy microwave dinner after a long day of tramping. Comms with Charlie via booking.com app were easy and responsive, and welcomed her generosity over amending my booking. Would definitely stay again!
All was fine by me on a mainly tramping break - and probably for those also wanting to get some peace and quiet off the beaten track - to walk up/down the hill from Ostend/the bus stop, however just noting my lower scoring on location was to help other travellers choose their perfect place to stay, by aligning more with how I would expect the majority to consider the location.
It’s quirky, stunning views and the facilities are amazing
Nothing
The location and the room were nice
Very nice place. We were a group of 8 and really enjoyed the pirate ship as it was perfect to gather. Thanks a lot for letting us stay later due to bad weather. Very basic kitchen but makes life easier. Many thanks.
Location and accomodation
It’s lovely and quiet
Nothing
Relatively cheap for Waiheke.
TV and wifi were inoperable.
Clean, good location, nice views.
Nothing.
Private, quiet, comfortable and had everything we needed.
The mostly magnificent view includes what we would call a junkyard. Really bad wifi.
Located away from Oneroa main village, it over looks the valley and is insanely scenic. The room is clean & cosy. Well stocked with toiletries, a mini fridge, coffee and tea. Lovely to wake up to birds chirping
Having rented a scooter, getting here wasn't an issue though if your coming on public bus, be prepared to walk 1.3km in on a hill. Wifi was not working but it's good to disconnect from technology & enjoy Waiheke's nature ☺️
Charlie was great

Loved the location, close to everything but felt you were away from it all. Owners very helpful and on hand when needed assistance. Previous visitors had broken the toaster which was replaced straight away. Reasonably priced for what you get.
Being next to the water tanks and pump, the over grown garden meant the view was affected. Had to park down the track rather than at the cabin due to the over grown hedge not allowing the vehicle to fit. Had the tanks being obscured and the garden maintained so able to take in the view and also park at the cabin it would be an absolute awesome get away.
The staff were very accomodating and went out of their way to make sure I had the most comfortable stay. Location was stunning and perfectly situated to explore the island
The mattress was too soft for me unfortunately
We stayed 3 nights in the pirate ship and had an amazing experience. The place was peaceful and had great views.
A bit of a walk from the bus stop, Ostend was around 20min walk away. First day we did not realise there was a shortcut so we had to walk a bit further with our bags. However we did not mind the walking.
Loved basically everything! particularly the view and the deck! the bed was really big and comfortable, bathroom really nice and the complementary milk and drinks was really yummy <3 very beautiful walk to the beach and cafes. Also really enjoyed the book that included all the nearby activities and restaurants, super helpful and super thoughtful! Such a fantastic price per night too especially during a public holiday weekend.
It was a bit of a walk up a massive hill so if you aren’t driving it may take a while to get to ! and the room we stayed in didn’t lock but it wasn’t a huge issue as it’s fairly secluded
It was very clean and had everything we needed. We had a lovely view and a good deck area.
Since it had rained a lot previously it was a bit muddy getting from the car to the cabin.
For the amount you pay, it’s bang for your buck lol the property was algood. The private shop was an adventure. We lived the outside table area.
Probably the shower, when the water heated up there was no pressure at all. But that would be the only downfall for us
The view down the valley was lovely, lots of trees and birds and a glimpse of the water. It was very quiet and peaceful. The bathroom was clean which we appreciated. As was the kitchen area. The lady who brought us some linen was friendly.
The cabin we stayed in (3) was right behind two water pumps which were right next to the deck where we could sit outside. They were unattractive and noisy. Anytime anyone flushed a loo in any of the cabin’s it activated the pump . The cabin was relatively new, however, the furniture and curtains were pretty average, including the shabby grey curtains, one hung inside out, the towels were old and faded as was the linen some of which had stains on it. Both were off putting. The rug looked like it had seen better days. There was dust on a lot of the surfaces. The outside furniture was very old and the table hadn’t been cleaned or wiped down in some time as it had mould and grime on it. One of the wooden utensils was so old it was split. There was no egg flip either. The single sofa bed really wasn’t suitable as a bed at all, it was hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. Even for a child or small adult. The fridge was a tiny bar fridge, the bbq had no equipment to clean it, even though you are asked to clean it, so we didn’t use it. The outside area was untidy and wasn’t well kept with an uneven dirt driveway.
I loved the bush and the native birds. The cabin was lovely and clean, and had all the comforts required. The owners were lovely and friendly, really enjoyed our stay.
Our stay was far too short! I'll be back!!
Lovely little place so relaxing amongst the bush lovely big deck
Nothing not to like
There was a space for the kids to run around outside and there were some old toys to play with.
The van/ old bus with the toilet is the experience you get when your life is really going bad or you are about to become a homeless. Milo was expired 😔.
Everything. The ship was spacious and had all the amenities you'd need. Even better, the staff was the tip of the iceberg. Great service.
Nothing.
Lovely outlook over beautiful greenery. A great economical accommodation. Charlie was very helpful and friendly.
Too far, too steep, not recommended for people traveling by Bus.
Location
Feels so private and quiet. Located above the tree line do you can see the native birds flying around Great place to relax and recharge Pet friendly also
Nothing
Very comfy and sweet place
Loved it all. Was perfect!

Fun, comfy, relaxed and awesome value for money.
Bit of a walk from the bus to get to the property.
The quietness and all the Tui around were a nice change!
I like the beautiful view of the mountains during the day and quiet enjoyment of the stars at night. We had a barbecue the first night, it was a nice and cool evening, no crowds and nosy neighbors, no worries if it gets smoky - pleasant cottage experience. The unit we were in was clean and had everything we need, just bring food to microwave, air fry, or bbq. We live in the city centre so we had a nice relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle.
I got locked in the bathroom but the staff quickly assisted me so all good ☺️
Such a hidden gem!! The Pirate room is super underrated and if you’re travelling and don’t want to get ripped off, this is for sure the place to go!
We couldn’t figure out how to get hot water in the shower and a few other residents struggled with it too but honestly that could have just been us
Quiet, clean and private little cabin that had everything we needed for our little family to be comfortable. Lovely view with native birds.
Everything! Beautiful location and a convenient walk to main shops. Thoughtfully set up cabin. Amazing views.
Nothing
Everything the vibe was amazing and the people were so cool!
Was hard to get to if you didn’t have a moped or some sort of transportation
Nice setting
Room smelt musty, beds were not comfy at all.
No hot water in the shared bathroom No hot water in the Pirate Ship kitchen area Driveway very muddy
Nice atmosphere; nice people
That it was rustic . That the rooms had extra
Terrible support around location and communication felt like the bus information was incorrect felt like the bus No map Feel like misled you access and was not informed that it was a hike as we had 65 year old would us and got told it was 15min walk
My cabin was really comfortable and very clean. Gorgeous rural views with a spacious verandah to enjoy them from. Host was very accommodating and friendly. Off the beaten track a little, but walkable from main bus stop in Ostend if you don’t mind a 15min or so walk (partially along along a gravel track). I also loved being able to bring my dog along on my weekend trip away!
Not close to public transport....I did not meet the staff as I arrived at 1am but their consideration of me as a solo traveller was great. Clear signage on my accomodation that looked welcoming... I had to leave early...but it was all made easy! Thank you
Nice self contained unit. Beautiful view.
The views were stunning and the bird life was lovely to hear.
Really disappointed. The cabin was tiny even though it said for 3 people. The linen was dirty with large stains on the under blanket and the pillows were yellow. It was some distance from any bus route requiring either a car or taxi which cost us a fortune. The exterior was just a mess with overgrown weeds and grass and really uninviting.
This was a fun place to stay, in a quiet location a short drive to Palm Beach. We enjoyed the 'glamping like' experience, but it's important to go into it with that mindset. This housebus is full of quirkiness, but very basic facilities, a bit rough and ready. The separate bathroom was ok, and the kitchen set up very basic. Fine for a few days but not more. Great value for money however!
All of the beds were very uncomfortable and that put a damper on our stay. Our nine year old slept on the sofa bed which we thought would be fine for a small child, but she cried and refused to sleep on it another night because it was so uncomfortable. Improving the comfort of the beds would make this a much better place to stay.
Lovely place to stay, bed is comfy. You get to see beautiful sunrise in the morning
The well equipped room, and peacefulness of nature
Far from the bus
Nice bush setting
Grounds could do with some maintenance. Access road quit rough.
Location, peacefulness, availability and quality of the studio cabins
A little hot at night in summer, open windows let the mozzies in. Also thought the property was looking a bit unkempt, grass was way too long. This is going to sound picky but a couple of the glasses still had lipstick marks on them from the previous guests…
What a great place to stay
Contact was great and my room was way more than I expected 10 out of q0
Literally the most comfy bed we’ve ever slept in and oh my goodness the view!!
I loved the place. Qute, clean, charming. I will recommend it.
The location was magic
Parking
location, views and outdoor decking
room a bit too basic
This was our second time. We absolutely love the place and people are so kind and friendly. Highly recommend.
Nothing. DO NOT GO HERE!
DO NOT GO HERE! If you choose to stay here. This is what you will get- Stranger’s hairs lying on the pillow covers, sheets; Blood stains, yellow stains, black stains filled on the sheets; Previous customer lipstick ink on the cups; Mould on the fork. I doubt if they did the cleaning after customer check out. If you dare to complain this to the owner, Charlie, she will say something like this, “this is the cheapest place, you should not be complaining anything. It’s your fault. Why you only booked one night in a long weekend.” But please, it’s our choice to stay here whether only one night or two nights. No matter the price, a CLEAN room is the minimum requirement every customer deserves!
Loved that they provided bug spray and milk. Felt very cosy. The location was stunning but a bit tricky with our little car
It needed a bigger fan for how hot it got. Would have also loved insect netting so we could open the windows
The view from the cabin was very picturesque! We loved how cosy it was and enjoyed yummy food cooked on the BBQ.
Travelling to other places was a challenge for us as we didn’t have a car. The shower was also a bit finicky and didn’t heat well.
Absolutely everything! Stunning location, brilliant set up, incredible service and amazing value for money. Cannot recommend highly enough! I will always stay here when I come to Waiheke
Nothing, every time I have stayed it has been exceptional!
The views were amazing
So peaceful, surrounded by bird songs, with stunning views. Utterly relaxing.
Not the easiest to get to without a car, but worth it for the serenity
