Not too far from Sea World. Free continental breakfast. Plenty of good parking spaces.

No bathtub for kids. Parking is an extra fee. Continental breakfast was limited on Saturday.

The room was very comfortable. There were several dining options within walking distance. The staff was very nice and friendly.

The Chardonnay machine did not work.

The location was great. Staff was nice for the most part. The room was very nice and clean. There was always parking available. Several entry and exits.

I didn't like that the parking wasn't included in the price up front and wasn't known until I checked out. I also didn't like that.There weren't any extra blankets already in the room.

We chose this hotel for its location, it is close to the Zoo and downtown. The staff was friendly. The room was about average, the A/C worked really well, but it was only like 65-71 degrees outside the entire time we were there so no major accomplishment. The water pressure in the shower was not great, and it was difficult to get truly hot water. There is no daily housekeeping unless you specifically ask for it. Probably the best thing about this hotel was the complimentary breakfast. The had a great variety each day, banana nut muffins were awesome, they actually had a yogurt dispenser which was really cool for making yogurt parfaits. They also had grab & go bags which we used our last day since we had to leave early. We booked the hotel months in advance so we knew what the nightly rate was (along with the additional $20 parking fee). As frequent travelers we still felt that the price was excessive all things considered. There were a couple of days when it seemed there was hardly anyone staying at the hotel... I would recommend the hotel find a way of including the parking fee into the nightly rate or somehow lower their room rates, for a lot of travelers those things are a major turn off. We would probably stay there again, but only after we carefully considered all other options.

I was disappointed that during on-line reservation, I requested adjoining room but didn't get it. Yet, upon my arrIval/checking in, I was assigned to a room next to a vacant adjoining room.

location had no power or running hot water

Over all stay was pleasant. Rooms were clean and had all that was needed. Microwave, coffee maker and small fridge. Parking was tight. We parked in a back alley way. We were given room 160, first floor which was great since the elevator was out of service. Unfortunately first thing in the morning we realized this room is next to a utility room which is entered from the outside of the building. The noise from this room was loud. Nothing could be done as I am sure it was just the staff preparing for their day. Honestly it felt as though they were actually in our room. Aside from this we would stay there again requesting a second floor room.

I was impressed with selection and quality. That pancake machine was fun.

I'd stay here again because the place is really convienent. There's a 7/11 and gas right next door, surrounded by places to eat, and a Costco across the street. It's centrally located to everything in San Diego and freeway access is close but not right next to them. All the staff were very nice and friendly. The room is nice the beds are real comfy, and the breakfast is good. BUT....the bathroom faucet barely had water flow coming out of it, the water temperature was never barely above luke warm, the shower water pressure was throttled back to massive drought conditions, The drain in the sink is bizarre, in that the drain plug screws into the drain and you have to manually twist the plug out of the drain pipe to get the sink to drain water and then the plug comes out and the bottom of it is pretty gross looking. I have never seen anything like that arragement, strange. The tv is a smart tv but it is difficult to figure out because most of the 'smart' features are shut off, I couldn't get the free WiFi to work, and tney don't clean up your room or give you new towels unless you tell them and worse is they don't tell you about that or have any sort of notification in the room, there is only a very very small placard at the front desk to let you know about it, if you even see it. They don't even let you know how to go about getting a room cleaning appointment. The room has no blookets or papers to tell you about how to operate their strange tv, or making a room cleaning appointment, or even what to do if there is an emergency like a fire, or needing police or paramedics. Like I said, I'd stay again ....but.

The Holiday Inn Express in San Diego La Mesa is excellent—super clean, with friendly, professional staff. The breakfast is great, the rooms are comfortable, and I felt completely safe. A big thanks to Diana, the housekeeper, for always being so helpful and thorough!

Room was clean and well lite. Housekeeping staff were very efficient in cleaning the room. Wifi is super fast. Location is convenient. Low noise area. Continental breakfast is awesome.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel and I had the best service ever the location where I stayed at was great. The atmosphere was perfect! Miguel took his time and was really patient to help me out with my booking. Customer service 10 out of 10 Would recommend the stay.

Rooms were big, I like the little kitchenette even just for counter space, I feel like this is a great option for work travel. The free breakfast is a nice touch, unexpected.

The walls are thin, I could hear conversations between the rooms quite clearly, and the room above us sounded like elephants in the room. Parking situation is a little tight, but I feel like that's San Diego in general. I'm a germaphobe so I do a wipe down on everything anyways, but there were certainly areas that hadn't been wiped down in awhile.

The staff is great and very helpful and excellent in cleaning the hotel Rooms. The house keeping staff is very professional Liliane is good at she does. She make sure you have everything that is supposed to be in your room. Asking her about different things and she would give you the answers you need. A wonderful person. Beautiful Hotel!

The location was marvelous. It’s right near downtown and shopping Central to freeways so you could get every anywhere you wanted easily.

Not having a chair in the room was very uncomfortable for this 94 year old lady. Otherwise my stay was fine

Automatic charge me for parking fee without asking, I was dropped off and picked up-No need for parking but got charge by default. For the nightly rate for single occupancy of $289.00 (+ tax), the quality of breakfast food should be better.

The booking.com website clearly advertises, that this location (Holiday Inn La Mesa), would have a bathtub or shower option available for the room I booked. Upon arrival, I was told that that wasn't the case. Only ADA rooms had bathtubs and none were available. My son had a 7on7 Football Tournament at San Diego St. and we wanted a bathtub so he could soak in Epson salt after a long day of football. Also, we complained about the neighboring room that had dogs barking all day and night of our stay. When we asked to get a joining room with my father in law to get away from the barking dogs next door, they said that there was no availability as well. Overall the stay was unpleasant and I do not plan on staying there again or using Booking.com as the property blamed you guys for the misinformation from being a 3rd party.

Very nice room and property for the price. Good location close to SDSU! Very pet friendly but not necessarily an area that was convenient to walk pets other than front of property or sidewalk. Very pleasant and helpful staff and even changed rooms when first room was not in a good location. Would definitely stay here again if need to be in area.

Check in was supposed to be at 3pm, but couldn’t get the room until 4:30. Fire alarm kept going off at 8am, at random times until checkout at 11am

The staff were all very kind and inviting! Check in was a smooth proceeds and I arrived at noon expecting to wait till 3PM but my room was ready and I was allowed in without any issues. My room was clean but then building itself is pretty rundown. The hallways are so so stuffy, not a single bit of air. The carpet all over the halls is so old and dirt smelling. The carpet in the elevator literally comes with its own bad aroma. Please get rid of it, it reeks. Breakfast was cold and limited but hey, it’s free. Parking was $20 which isn’t terrible considering it’s outside the building which the surrounding area is a bit sketchy.

Friendly staff up front. Definitely attentive. The fact that you have to use a keycard for access is nice, adds to the overall safety feel. Shower wasn't clean when I got there. There were some rocks/mud that I ended up rinsing off myself. Bathroom also smelled faintly of cigarette smoke. Desk lamp didn't work properly. Thin walls and thin floors/ceilings. If you're on the first floor prepare to hear everything anyone says outside as they walk by. Prepare to hear your neighbors above you and beside you and people in the halls talking. I was only there for one day, so it wasn't bad for a quick work trip, especially for the price. But it would not be an ideal situation for personal travel or longer trips.

The property is a bit outdated and the laundry facilities really need to be updated — I wasn’t able to do laundry on-site and had to take it to a family member’s house. That said, the hotel staff more than made up for it. Anna and Mena both went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Mena, the general manager, was absolutely outstanding. She checked in on us daily to make sure everything was okay, and her hospitality truly made us feel at home. She not only recommended a fantastic kabob spot in El Cajon and suggested a hairstylist for my mom before the communion party, but she also went out of her way to change our room to better accommodate our needs. Mena’s genuine kindness, attention to detail, and constant willingness to help left such a positive impression on us — she is the type of manager who turns a good trip into a great one. Anna also made our stay special. She helped us find places to go sightseeing and, when we were in the lobby dressed for the communion party, she kindly offered to take photos so my whole family could be in the picture together. Their kindness and dedication really stood out and helped make our experience memorable. With some updates to the property, this could easily be a five-star stay.

Staff had excellent customer service, plenty space to park, breakfast was good (but had an issue with pancake maker burning and sticking) but eventually got fixed. Beds were comfortable and rooms were quiet. Great kitchenette area with amenities.

The ridiculous $20 parking fee! Are you kidding me??? The food was horrible 😫 hard cheese omelet the oatmeal was paste I'll never stay at a Holiday Inn again.

I liked the location, friendly staff and breakfast buffet. Dislikes were the noise at night as I was near a main entrance/exit. I was also on the ground floor facing the parking lot and the late check-in people hit their remote door locks at all hours with the car horns beeping at 2, 3 ,4 am. Makes it hard to sleep. But not completely the fault of the hotel.

Room was not clean. Several black hairs in bathroom and sheets had some light stains on one side. Parking was terrible at night. There were about 10 parking spots that people parked in the middle of two spots, so had to park all way behind the hotel and walk down the street to the front entrance. Not hotels fault for people's terrible parking skills, but they need to figure out a way to improve parking situation.

I stayed here in 2014 before the re-model when I moved to La Mesa. I refused to stay again for the service and cleanliness. Looked like it was a homeless center with trash over flowing and people doing drugs and loitering outside and revving cars and parties in rooms. 10 years later, visiting family that lives in La Mesa I booked because I noticed the remodel but nothing has changed. Could not sleep for 2 nights! I understand the car wash construction but a hockey team that is running in the hallways at 1am and slamming door and jumping in the elevator. Ridiculous! There is a city ordinance in La Mesa for quiet hours that starts at 10pm. Hotel staff does nothing, cars revving outside, people screaming and talking loud and 20 hockey team kids running down the hallways at 1am. I visit family in La Mesa very frequently. Will never stay here again! Nothing has changed.

The room was good. Nice and clean around the property. The pool was really small but usable. Breakfast was lacking. The pancake machine was broken. The oatmeal machine was also broken. Otherwise it was a great stay.

Very clean, easy parking, friendly and helpful front desk

It was clean, nice two queen bed quarters with good quality beds, modern but average size. The bathroom was a shower only and it was okay. The water pressure was too low and the heat wasn’t very strong for the water. The pool is listed on the property as an added amenity but it is located in the back outside and it isn’t of the best quality. They also have an $20 a day parking fee so consider that as a miscellaneous add on to the total of your stay.. aside from that it wasn't bad if I had to I’d stay again in a pinch. I just don’t believe the prices matched the quality but it was okay. It was nice, it was clean, felt safe, close to things, and it had free breakfast, and on sight security that walks around at night looking at the cars which is a plus.
