EL TRATO DE PERSONAL DE RESTAURANTE BUFE Y SERVICIO DE BAR
J’ai signalé les premières difficultés dans ma chambre et même tardivement ils ont su me changer de chambre sans difficultés
AC partially worked, building had leaks, elevators were not clean. I booked and they took payment a month before stay.
Location
Checkin process was terrible took over an hour very slow one person at desk
location
staff, rude and not helpful specially in the front desk.
The food was great
There was a leak in my room but other then tht the property was beautiful
Average
The staff was not pleasant … booking agent Fiana was very rude, nice hotel but overall experience did not meet expectations
Staff were friendly and accomodating
Room service was not efficient. Pools were disappointing for the kids as slides were noy working. Environment at the pool was not kids friendly.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Check in and check out were very efficient.
Some requests made for room service took very long to get done, almost the enture day passed and our room was not serviced. Lack of food variety and entertainment. Pool experience was disappointing for the kids as the slides were not functional. Environment at the pool was not kids friendly.
The beach was fun.
Everything! The staff was horrible. I’ve never walked out of a buffet hungry. The food was disgusting. The place was loud and gross. Loud parties all night. No peace. Just all wrong.
Nice, has a lot of restaurants
My view wasn’t the best
The location of the resort is excellent because it's close to Maho bay, shops, restaurants, casino, etc. The food quality was generally good as well as the variety being offered. The facility was clean even though there were many guests. The ambiance and environment were very well kept. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The wifi worked most of the time.
1) I thought that my room was paid in full when I saw it being charged to my credit card, however upon arrival/check-in, I was told that it was not paid in full and I had an additional amount to pay. 2) My flight got there early so I was able to check in and was told that my room would be ready by 4 pm. That time came and it wasn't ready and I had to continue waiting until about 4:25 pm and when I finally went to the room the frost mirror did not work (remained on) and the lighting in the face mirror did not work. 3) My first day there I encountered some staff who weren't very courteous and that was rather disappointing especially after having to pay more than I had catered for and being made to wait additional time to get to my room. 4) Bear in mine that it is an all-inclusive resort and some of the restaurants do serve buffet style which means that (especially when it's crowded) there were persons not practicing proper hygiene and handling of the food equipment resulting in contamination.
I normally don't leave reviews unless compelled by really good or bad service. We have stayed at various resorts throughout different Caribbean islands and this is unfortunately, the first time where the reviews posted online did not align with our experience. With this being said, let’s list the pros and cons of the Hotel (7/27/2026 through 7/31/2026): Good: -Location from airport is 1/2 mile and a $5/per person taxi is easy. -Front desk employees are very friendly and helpful. -Hotel is clean and rooms are also clean – the house-cleaning staff were very friendly and willing to help. -The beach is clean and there are lounge chairs there as well. -Pools: pools are nice and kept clean. However, be aware that the main pool is fairly deep all around unless you go to the kid pool. -Fun night activities each night. -Nexus Tour Team were amazing at arranging excursions based on our large group despite the limited availability in their brochure. -Close to 'plane spotting' area to get blasted with the jet air when they take off. -La Fontana Italian as well as Jing’s restaurant was the best with good food and friendly service overall. Not so good: -Check-in: We noticed that check-in from Monday through Wednesday morning was nothing spectacular – a glass of champagne, advised we had access to the facilities despite the rooms not be ready. However, we did notice on Thursday that guests were greeted with Steel Pan Music, Carnival themes, Cold towels, & drinks on arrival (whether or not it was pre-arranged by the airline or travel agent, it should’ve been the same warm welcome reception for all guests). -Various requests which were made (including rooms being in close proximity, two beds instead of one, as well as birthday/anniversary request) were not honored (of course, we understand that the birthday/anniversary was a stretch). -The facility consists of two hotels (one that is family-oriented and the second is adult only) that share food, but you don't have access to everything. -Restaurant staff - While there were 3 exceptional people, everyone else was a force to be reckoned with. They were always yelling/cursing at each other and upset with one another. After being seated (which requires scanning your bracelets), the time it took for the servers to come take your drink order was ridiculous – it was guaranteed that you did get water in a timely fashion. If a server did happen to take your drink order, they either did not come back with it or they got the order incorrect. (One server said, “It wasn’t her job” and walked away) -Pool areas are dangerously slippery and when someone falls, there was no staff around to help. Also, noticed that the bar servers regularly made rounds around the pool, however, they only served certain people. (We sat on lounge chairs at the main pool and waited there for about 45 minutes without being approached once by the bar staff) - Bar (swim-up as well as Cantina) – the bartender took care of the servers prior to any guest who was standing at the bar. They also served certain people before others despite other guests being there beforehand. Now, we understand that each person has different views/experiences, but this is what we experienced during our short stay. St Maarten itself met our expectation in terms of blue water, warm/hot weather, and friendly people (outside of the hotel that is).
Beach is very good, weather is gorgeous and the service is very good.
Islam makes really good pizzas, he made a halal chicken pizza with really good spices. As well as sweet and sour. He is very friendly. One of the key staff for sure.
I would come on here and tell you how rude the staff was or how the shower flooded or how the TV did not work. Instead of focusing on that I will brag about Ms. Shanon in the buffet every day she ensured I had pineapples fresh. She took care of my family and I even if we weren't in her section. She was the star of my entire stay by far! A few others did amazing as well but she went above and beyond with no attitude. The changes of me staying here again are really low but if I do I hope to see my new aunt Shanon
Just spent a week at the Sonesta in St. Marteen...The staff had many people who were friendly, most of the staff is not. They were not rude, just not friendly. Management needs to make that a priority to make sure guests feel welcome. The Food...It's all-inclusive. The food was fine...Breakfast buffet is delicious, lunch-highly recommend going to see Johnny flipping burgers and hotdogs every day at 2:00 behind the pool, dinner was fine...not gourmet food, but it was fine. Would recommend going off-site to Jack's Steakhouse & Mr. Chow's...both delicious. The clientele that was at the resort was mixed. Most of the people we met were awesome. Can get a little rowdy at times but most people were friendly and kind. There were some who dragged down the experience due to their behavior. Disrespectful, loud, vulgar...Don't want to judge based on a few rotten apples. But it made me re-think if I would go back. The resort was clean, rooms were modern. Easy access to the public beach, that feels like it's a private beach. Every once in a while, you do get a foul smell...but I found that to be true even when visiting other parts of the island. The views of the ocean are amazing...Watching the planes land and take off at SXM airport is AWESOME, never gets old!!! If you have a large group, then the Sonesta is perfect. You can all be together and the property is not that big, so it's nice. If you are a single family, can be intimidating with so many large parties being there.
Staff great / Room Great Why the Hate?
I came with a group 6 of 25. We all had a great time. The check in experience is a little slow so be patient. The food is not the greatest but you will find something you like. The highlight of our trip was Stephanie. She is the poolside bartender. She was awesome and made us feel like family. Everybody on the resort is very friendly and helpful.
L’emplacement, le mini golf, la restauration et le bar.
La propreté de la plage de la piscine et les odeurs des poubelles.
My husband and I decided to spend our one year anniversary here at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. We arrived with such excitement but was greeted with rudeness. The people at the front was shooing us for stopping at the front to check in. Not really an issue but the way she came at us was off putting. We got the the desk after I parked the car in the sketchy parking deck, there were two lines priority and check in. After standing at the check in lane for 30 minutes we were told that there was only one line. So we joined the other line. The bell hop came to us and was very demeaning and told us if we’re not priority check in we need to go to the other line. Mind you there wasn’t anyone else behind us. We got settled and headed to the restaurant. The staff was rude and was very dismissive. We looked around and everyone else of the same color was being greeted with a smile but we caught attitude. Forgot most of our order and never came back to check on us. Dinner time at La Fontana was superb they were nice, attentive and went above and beyond. One girl even wrote down places for us to check out. One guy at the buffet was nice and attentive as well and a guy at the Mexican restaurant during dinner time was attentive. The rooms were ok but not for the price we paid. It was a bit old and dated. The walls were thin and you can hear people moving chairs in the other room. You can also hear people walking around. The island was also subpar! Was full of trash and the roads were terrible. The beaches had lots of potential but were not kept. We drove around the island and found our selves coming back to Long Beach over and over. Not only was it kept but there were less people there sometimes just us. None of the rowdy, weed smoking, no manners, cursing crowds. Here, we were able to relax. All in all, I don’t think I would come back here. It was a one time visit just to see what’s there. But if you have to save up to come here, go somewhere else. There are better places to spend your hard earned/saved money.
The only positive aspect of the property was its location. Unfortunately, any potential benefits were completely overshadowed by the chaotic check-in process, unresolved maintenance issues, marijuana smoke entering our room, poor customer service, and unauthorized credit card charge. As a result, I cannot recommend this property based on my experience.
From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. The lobby was overcrowded and chaotic, making check-in confusing and stressful. Our room’s air conditioning wasn’t working, and marijuana smoke from the neighboring room entered our room, making it uncomfortable. Despite multiple calls to the front desk, the issues were not addressed promptly, and we had to go downstairs ourselves before a handyman was finally sent late that evening. I was also extremely concerned that the hotel required my husband to leave a $200 cash deposit after saying they could not accept our Capital One card for incidentals, yet they later charged the credit card used to make the reservation without my authorization. That, combined with the poor communication, lack of urgency, and overall customer service, made this one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had—especially while celebrating my sister’s 60th birthday with our group of 40.
Way below of what we expected. Subpar food, crowded, grumpy/rude staff, dirty room, sewage smell everywhere, noisy.... never again. We should have believed all the negative reviews...
Rooms was very dirty when we arrived but Debbi weeks helped me with getting my room cleaned also Neil the manager in the food dept was great Beatrice brown cleaned my room for the rest of the trip so my stay turned out Much better thanks to Debbie the supervisor Neil the manager and Beatrice the maid they were very helpful professional patient the entire trip
Jonathan, in Azul Restaurant, was fantastic 👍
Laundry service was very bad 🥵 Portofino restaurant was not worth visiting - had high expectations, but the food was tasteless and disapointing ( no chicken in Cesar salat - no seafood taste of «ai fruiti de mare»)
DO NOT STAY HERE! We traveled here with a group of 30 to celebrate my sister’s 60th birthday, and from the moment we arrived, it was a complete disaster. The lobby was absolute chaos. We actually walked in, looked around, and walked back out because we thought we had come to the wrong place. It was overcrowded, disorganized, and incredibly unwelcoming. Unfortunately, things only got worse after we checked into our room. Our air conditioning wasn’t working, and the guest next door was smoking marijuana. The smell seeped into our room and completely engulfed the space, making it impossible to relax. We called the front desk multiple times, but nothing was resolved. We were eventually forced to go downstairs ourselves, only to be told the hotel was fully booked and there was nothing they could do. At 11:14 p.m., they finally sent a handyman to address the air conditioning issue. By that point, the evening had already been ruined. To make matters worse, we were told they could not accept our Capital One card for incidentals, so my husband gave them $200 in cash. We later discovered they also charged the credit card I used to make the reservation—without my authorization. That is completely unacceptable. The worst part is that I’m stuck here until Monday, but I intend to speak with management in the morning and still try to make the best of my sister’s birthday celebration. This has been one issue after another from check-in onward. Poor customer service, lack of accountability, and unauthorized charges are not what anyone should expect from a hotel. I will be filing a formal complaint with corporate and disputing the unauthorized charge. I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere if you value a clean, comfortable, and professionally managed hotel experience.
The island is beautiful, the resort is pretty and the food is not bad. However this is by far the WORST customer service I’ve ever encountered at any resort. They simply do not care and are rude! Not helpful at all
Me and my girlfriend booked a week at this all inclusive resort and although the food could have been better prepared, we always found at least one dish that was to our liking. I want to give a shoutout to the manager Jovanny Smith that went above and beyond to assist us with a room complaint. He couldn't do anything in the day that we checked in but he asked is to be patient and to come see him the next day. And he kept his word. We went to see him and he took good care of us.
The location is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views from our room and from both of the main restaurants. Azul was the standout restaurant, although the food overall was hit or miss. Service was fair, but many of the staff did not seem especially engaged or happy to be there. We are fairly low-maintenance travelers, so it did not ruin our stay, but the service could have been warmer and more attentive. The resort itself felt somewhat run down and the grounds needed maintenance. There were loose pavers throughout the property and quite a few tripping hazards, so be careful where you step. The pool was clean and inviting in the morning, but by midday, I personally would not have gone in. There also were not many activities offered. Something simple like beach yoga or other wellness activities would have been a nice addition. The resort has two very different sections. For adults traveling without children, I strongly recommend staying on the adults-only side. We enjoyed our time there, but I would not choose to stay in the other section of the resort.
*STAY AWAY* DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!! I have been traveling since I was there in mid April, but I feel I need to let others BE VERY AWARE of where they are staying. I wouldn't want hard earned money go to waste. Never do reviews, but I felt obliged to. { well, my husband was the one that is insisting I warn other fellow travelers!!} Where do I start? yes, it's the ONLY all inclusive on the island, but there is a reason!! SXM is KNOWN for its great culinary diversity! They have Grand Case on the French side also known as the Culinary capital of the Caribbean!! even the restaurants across the street from the hotel are a BIG improvement. They tell you "we have 8 restaurants" BUT ONLY two open at the same time!! That's VERY misleading!! Food is a hit or miss. I must say that we did do the "azul experience" as it's the only decent food, a la carte.. but it's on the Ocean Point side. Maho guests CANNOT even step foot on the OP side, only if you book this experience. Now, as for the hotel. YES, it smells like poop. mostly on the 4th and 3rd floors { where some family had the misfortune of staying} it REEKS, and sometimes it also reeks by the pool; stay away from the 33,35,37s- odd room numbers facing the back. they have this problem with sewage smell, they are WELL aware of it but they do not care!! they should decommission those awful stinky rooms, but they don't. do not even get me started on the FD "management" or should I say "MIS Management" bunch of people with frowns on their faces, or as another guest pointed out " the director of rooms" had a constant resting bitching face.. they were berating the hard working staff because they AGREED w us the room smelled, but all you could be bothered to do was yell at them FOR AGREEING with me?? rooms are "okay"- depends where it is located, and what kind of a room you have. Stay away from their "Superior"that is a basic, I know the 9th & 10th floors are for adults only but we didn't get to go there as it's a different color band. not only that, but the other guests.... don't want to sound mean, but reminds of a Carnival Cruise ship... you know what I mean, they type of clientele that gets offended by everything but they can continue and act like,,,, twerking, eating like slobs.. don't get me started on the way they dress... another joke is the "Guest Conduct Policy" they make you sign when you check in. Stating that if you disrespect an employee or another guest, you will get thrown out That doesn't happen. we witnessed multiple times, guests blasting their bluetooth speakers by the pool, security would come and warn them; saw a lady manager try to make them stop but they ganged up on her, we could hear them insulting her, giving her the finger. She actually said outloud that they were violating the policy, that she felt bad for his family for his actions as he would be kicked out. the stuff he said to her, WOW and NOTHING happened! the next day, the SAME guests did the same thing, and nothing was done. It's a joke, same guests, same speakers. same result - NOTHING. it's NOT a FOUR star ; maybe a three on a good day if it's not too crowded.. do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.. the island has plenty of other small boutique hotels if you don't want to do AirBnB. Next time we are going to stay at the Grand Case Beach Club on the French side. This totally turned us off from any more 'all inclusives' I can understand why people feel "safe' at an all inclusive, but trust me, you don't need an "all inclusive on this island"
Where should I begin..... we went to this resort for our cousin's bachelorette, so we were a traveling party of 11 people. We booked 3 separate rooms, and we should've known it was going to go downhill from the point of checking in. When we arrived, we stood in line for quite a while as it was very busy. When we finally made it to the front to check in, only 1 out of the 3 rooms were ready. That's odd since check in isn't until 4 PM and we showed up after that. They told us the remaining 2 rooms will be ready in 20 mins or so. We asked if they would call us and they said no. Ok, that's odd because why wouldn't you? So, we said we would come back and check. We all went upstairs to the room that was ready to drop off everything and went to grab a bite to eat. Well, the buffet was closed as dinner hasn't started yet. So, we walked around the resort to check it out. Some of our crew went to check to see if the room was ready, we gave it 40 minutes, but again it is not ready. It wasn't until 2 hours later that the other 2 rooms were ready. This to me is unacceptable. After a day of traveling, we want nothing more than to get situated in our room. We've been to many all-inclusive resorts, and this is probably the worst one we've ever gone to! I have never experienced such terrible service from the employees at an all-inclusive resort. Not all but many of them are very unfriendly and made you feel like you shouldn't have been there. They were either very rude or very mean and for no apparent reason. One example is the snack shack by the pool... we wanted a hamburger and hotdog, so when they called for last call for hamburgers, one of my cousins thought they meant they ran out of hamburgers. So, she said since there are no more hamburgers, can I please get a hotdog, and the gentleman proceeded to chastise her because he did not say there are no more hamburgers. It was a simple misunderstanding. He could've just said we still have hamburgers. There was no reason to yell at her. It makes no sense to me. The employees either make or break your experience and unfortunately, they ruined our experience. That being said, I would like to give a special shoutout to the employees who were phenomenal! Jackie, the casino attendant, was always helpful and kind! She made you feel welcome and was always willing to help. The lady in the cafe, she was always nice when I went in several times a day to order my cappuccino. The servers at the buffet... something can be learned from them because each and every one of them was so nice! Shout out to Juan and Rheno who took really good care of us every time we were there. Housekeeping team was great as well! Whenever we requested more pillows, towels, or toilet paper, they came right away! Their service was phenomenal. As a group, we agreed we would return to the island but not to the resort. This resort being the only all-inclusive on the island, I can see why it is popular. Unfortunately, their service did not hold up. Please do better training with the staff regarding their friendliness and rudeness.
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! I have never wrote a review before but was so unhappy with this hotel that if I would of read a review like this before booking the hotel, then I would of never stayed here. Had a great experience in Sint. Maarteen the time that was not spent at the hotel. The pictures and videos on their website look NOTHING like the hotel. The only thing convenient is that it is located near the airport. The village area around the hotel is run down. Booked this hotel specifically because it was an all inclusive, but the food and drinks were extremely low quality that we ended up paying to go out to eat and get drinks everyday we were away. The liquor selection is all low quality low tier and all the drinks tasted disgusting and watered down. The entire hotel was dirty and all the drinks had a bad dirty aftertaste. For the money that was spent to stay here, the quality of the food and the overall hotel did not match the standards expected. The food was practically inedible. I also got sick from the food the last day after I ate the breakfast buffet. Extremely low cleanliness from the staff. At the buffet the staff members would use their bare hands to put oregano on the pasta, at the bartenders would put their dirty sweaty hands on the top part of the straw while serving a drink. The entire time staying here did not feel like vacation, the hotel staff were extremely nasty. I barely ordered any drinks at the hotel bar and when I did the bartender would look annoyed or roll his eyes. They also never had basic ingredients such as mint to make a mojito or lemons. The staff was nasty, not welcoming, and unorganized. The staff served drinks in a plastic cup that looked like you got it from the gas station. Even though its an all inclusive they don't give you any water bottles at the pool, beach area, the bar, or while your at dinner. Ridicolous. They have a cafe inside that has water bottles but closes at 7pm. The rooms were fine. The bathroom was nice but the shower was so poorly designed with an open door that every time I showered no matter how I pointed the shower head the entire bathroom floor would be soaked and had to put all the remaining towels we had left to clean it up. The phone did not work in our room and had to go to the lobby to request more towels. The beds were very uncomfortable and did not have a good night sleep. The AC was also not strong in the room despite putting it on the lowest setting. Every staff member had an attitude no one was friendly or welcoming it did not feel like vacation when I was there. The entire hotel is low quality- it felt like a glamorized motel. The hotel lobby bathrooms which we used to quickly get ready when we checked in since the room was not ready was disgusting- smelt like sewage and mold. Did not use the pool the entire stay. The kids pool was big but yet again, dirty. The "adult" section of the pool was the size of a big hot tub. For a hotel with 9 floors there should be a bigger pool. It smelt bad and yet again was not clean. The beach was nice to watch the planes land if your into that. The other side of the island has beautiful much nicer beaches with clearer water. Also keep in mind the beach is a public beach and anyone from the island can go there, it is not quiet nor relaxing if that's what you are looking for. Despite being an all inclusive there is no bars on the beach if you want a drink you have to leave the bar go up to the pool area and order a drink. The only nice part of the hotel was there was a sitting area with chairs that over looked the beach it had a nice view without being directly on the water, that's where I spent my time. Overall had a great time on the trip at the beach clubs and other restaurants and bars on the island. We were glad to keep busy so we were not spending time at this dump of a hotel!! Do not book this hotel unless you like low quality food and terrible drinks.
Disappointing Hospitality and Misleading Amenities We arrived early, hoping to enjoy the beach and pool while waiting for our room to be ready. Unfortunately, our first impression was underwhelming. The lobby is beautiful and welcoming, but the lobby restroom was not very clean. Customer service has been disappointing so far—I'd rate it 2 out of 5. The staff has been polite but not particularly accommodating or hospitable. At around 11:30 a.m., the main pool was already overcrowded and extremely noisy, so we decided to head to the beach instead. The ocean views are stunning and easily 5 out of 5, especially watching the planes land and take off nearby. However, the beach itself is rough with limited calm swimming areas, so I'd rate it 2 out of 5. One of the biggest disappointments is what feels like false advertising regarding the property's amenities. The resort promotes an adults-only pool, but access is restricted to guests staying on the top two floors. This important limitation is not made clear when booking, making it feel misleading. Trying to discuss our concerns with management was equally frustrating. Rather than listening or offering any flexibility, it felt like talking to a wall. There was no willingness to compromise or provide alternative solutions, leaving us feeling like valued guest service is not a priority. If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation, this may not be the resort for you. Between the crowded, noisy pool area, restricted amenities, and lack of hospitality, the experience has been disappointing. We're only on day one of a six-day stay, so I'm hoping the remainder of the trip improves. At this point, however, the resort has not lived up to the expectations set by its advertising.
The resort was just okay. I had to switch rooms and it turned into an unpleasant experience. The food at the different restaurants was middle of the road. However, the hotel was conveniently locate. One of the best experiences was at the lobby bar with the bartender Suddenie. She provided excellent service and made awesome drinks. Also, the massage at the oceanfront cabana was nice.

Tout est ok
I really loved the service that Yael, skayline and André gived me, i really felt welcomed in the hotel and the contry
Room was a good size and I liked the bathroom everything looked new. The view was nice from the balcony. All of the staff was nice. Very close to the airport and it’s on maho beach so you can watch the planes land while Your on the beach or as your eating breakfast. Food was okay, the breakfast buffet was trash tho. Other than that I would stay again.
A very good hotel with amazing staff, especially the young woman in the teen room named Skaïly 😁; she’s incredible.
I liked how me and my cousins enjoyed our experience at the teen zone with Skayli. She was so fun to be with, it’s sad that she’s leaving. Also, we liked our time at the mini golf with Andre, Daniel, Jordy, Joshua, Brandon, Chancelio and Ethan. It was cool to be with them.
Me and my family had a blast with Andre, Brandon,Joshua,Daniel,Jordy,Ethan and Charlicio. They were nice and friendly. We had fun with Skayli she was really nice and friendly. It’s a shame that she is leaving.
It was really nice, we had a great time with Andre, Joshua, Daniel, Brandon, Charlicio, Yael and Jordy at the golf court. We also bonded naturally with Skyli in the teen zone, she was fun to play with. It’s a shame that she’s leaving.
The staff is friendly, however the food isn’t all that great with weird food options. It was so bad one night that all I ate was fruit for dinner. The activities could also be much better & last longer or multiple activities throughout the day. The beach is the most beautiful part about this place. Wouldn’t return
I want to highlight the phenomenal service provided by Jenneal during my stay. She was exceptional from start to finish — welcoming, knowledgeable, and consistently attentive. She remembered details, checked in at the perfect moments, and made us feel genuinely valued as guests. Her service added a personal touch that made our time at the resort even more enjoyable. She deserves recognition for her outstanding hospitality and the pride she clearly takes in her work.
Breakfast and the buffet was good,
the chinese restuarant was horrible, meaning the food, had 2 staff that needed training on customer service and how to speak to guests but the other staff was wonderful.
I liked the pool. The walk was a lot to the restaurant. The constant having to use a machine scan to eat.. 10 mins to noon and had to wait for 12 noon to ask for something to eat. They jacked up the price for me when I got there. Hundreds of dollars more for 3 nites when my daughter joined me. I would never stay there again T
There was never enough food. An all inclusive usually has food all day even if it just snacks. The main courses were the same And never s steak.
Awesome

Charlie at the pool bar and many other members just have nasty demeanors. service was really horrible as we waited forever just to get drinks at the bar and met with attitudes. I even tried tipping to cheer them up but there were no change.

Breakfast variety was great. No complaints here.
A staff worker entered into my room with a key unannounced and uninvited. This confusion caused ciaos in the hallway which resulted in another guest coming out of his room entering into my conversation with the staff worker. The situation with the other guest became hostile. After further investigation with the security and the hotel manager my husband and I were told that we were wrong and that it's totally normal for staff to do random checks in guests rooms - wow! No one understood our upset and concern regarding invasion of our privacy and the staff entering our room with a key unannounced. They said it's totally legal for staff to do random checks. Nothing was resolved. The shower doors are half doors / only covering half the shower resulting in the floor being wet and covered in water each time we showered. We had to continuously lay down multiple towels to soak up the water. The female workers are not friendly to the female guests. They were always moody when asked for anything. Would not recommend this resort.
You should have more dining places , add room service
Property was in a convenient location. Not to far from popular bars & restaurants. Very close to the airport.
The swim up bar was a nice vibe. I only wish that they had a DJ or played music instead of local live bands. Nobody wants to hear contemporary rock/country music while vacationing in the Caribbean. I do understand that the hotel has to cater to all people but maybe there should be a set schedule for the music instead of having just one thing playing. And it did seem like the music they were playing wasn’t even appealing to the people they were trying to appeal to. People are on vacation and want to let loose a little. The majority of people on this resort was from the ages of 25-40…. Sometimes you have to gage the crowd. It was by no means appropriate to break out the nursing home entertainment mid day at the swim up bar pool area. I also HATED that the dress code for the restaurants seemed to be only enforced when it came down to a certain race of people. It does not feel good to be turned down from an all inclusive restaurant due to dress code only to see that there are other vacationers of the opposite race wearing identical outfits dining in that very establishment with out any issues. We all paid for the same amenities but somehow we’re treated VERY differently. It’s sad to be discriminated against in general. But on vacation is a new LOW.
Amazing resort with great food, beach and gluten free friendly. Sharon, a staff supervisor, made sure, every meal, that my food was gluten free. She is a true sweetheart and really works hard to satisfy her customers. Thanks a million Sharon, you were the best! Sophie from Montreal Canada
Was clean and the foo was very good
A wonderful vacation I enjoyed the amenities. The staff is wonderful very friendly. It was a pleasure to be here. Special thank you to Ms. Anna she was wonderful at checking and through out our stay and the bellman Elisé who has also contributed to our wonderful experience. The bar staff was excellent the staff at the restaurant and housekeeping were all amazing. Thank you sonesta for a wonderful vacation with my family🥰🥰🥰
The location was decent and 5 minutes from the airport.
Our room had literal mold in the bathroom, stained curtains, hair/debris/dust on the floors, rusted bathroom appliances. We ended up staying only 1 of our 3 nights there. The food was awful, staff was okay. I wouldn’t recommend.
I have such mixed reviews about this place. It was advertised as a luxury resort and we felt it was more on brand with a mid level hotel chain. Pros: 3 separate adult only pools to choose from. Pools got cleaned daily. Grounds were decently maintained. Great location for plain-spotting and a decent beach (free chairs and umbrellas but no beach drink service). No towel cards so you can grab and go whenever you need to swap out. Never had an issue getting a pool lounger anywhere! Cons: The first three days of our trip were filled chaos from a large disruptive group, marijuana odor everywhere, two fights by the pool where security had to escort people out and then a 3am fight outside our room with blood curdling screams. The resort makes you sign a wavier regarding behavior at check in so I'm unsure why this behavior was tolerated so long but we did hear they got kicked out Sunday. Thankfully. Food: predictable but manageable for 6 days. Staff: only 3 really shined to us. Sheryl by the pool bar was always smiling. A gentlemen by the fortuna bar who sang all the time and Navita at the ocean point terrace was always lovely. Tips: bring earplugs or a small sound machine if you're sensitive to loud people who come back drunk at 4am.
Decent all inclusive resort for family destination wedding event
Run do not walk! Average resort with average food. What is not average is the sewer gas smell in our room, Four or five complaints and a request to change rooms all with unresolved results. Major attitude from the manager when we asked for a new room. We were told there were no rooms however their website says otherwise. I explained that I had stage four lung cancer and can’t be breathing in sewer gas and I was met with an uncaring, inhumane look that said I REALLY DONT CARE. She was more upset that her staff said that this is an ongoing problem and that they would give me a new room. Zero cares given here zero resolution. Now I am in a dangerous health situation with no way out. Please go elsewhere for your own comfort and health.
We had a wonderful time and Shakira was very kind and helpful with checking us in and helpful with our room keys!! She is amazing person to encounter ask for her if your ever at the front desk!!!
We loved our stay at Sonesta Maho beach resort ! People are so nice, food was excellent and the Kids loved it. Thank you to Dorian and all other employees who was so gentle. :)
We had a really great vacation at Sonesta. The food was good for an all inclusive.( we have been to many) The people were very nice. Simone served us happily at the buffet every day and she helped to make our stay very pleasant. Shaunta did a great job cooking the pasta and chatted with a smile. The pasta was delicious. Jovanny (the manager at the front desk) was very helpful and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed watching the planes and we were always able to find a place for our family of three to sit. I felt that the hotel was clean and they came around daily to stock the refrigerator. The water was beautiful and we enjoyed the entertainment.Especially the guitar player who played at the Italian restaurant. The only complaint that I have is the shower situation. Each time we took a shower the bathroom flooded due to how the shower is made. This can be easily fixed in the off season by raising the tile or adding an extra piece of glass. Overall, we had a wonderful relaxing vacation and we were very happy!
I read some of the reviews before we got to this resort and the negative reviews in my opinion weren't very accurate. We had the best time but the workers at this resort made it special. Every worker that we interacted with were so friendly and kind. Two in particular were extra special and deserve a shoot out (Sharon) at the restaurant was so efficient and friendly, she greeted me every morning calling me Sunshine 🌞. Also Mykal at the bartenders at the pool bar spoiled me rotten. He would pour my drinks before I even made it to the bar. He was so attentive, professional and kind. The food at all of the restaurants were really good. We're going on a cruise in December and I already told my husband that we're going to stay at this resort for the day. My only complaint is that we had cold showers in room 382 in the mornings but by the afternoon the water would be hot. We had 2 call down to reception. Workers came up but the water wasn't fixed until the morning we left. Anyway i'd still return because of the location and the wonderful workers at this resort. Sonesta Maho see you in December.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing stay with plenty of food choices! Sonesta Maho Resort in Sint Maarten was fantastic! While not every single dish was to my taste, there were so many options to choose from. The variety across the different restaurants and buffets meant everyone in our group found something they loved. Great location, friendly staff, and beautiful views. I would absolutely recommend this resort to anyone! I will definitely come back.
Amazing trip! Definitely visiting again.
We spent 2 weeks at Sonesta Maho Beach. The Good: The beach was honestly one of the best parts of the trip. We originally planned to visit Mullet Bay and Cupecoy often, but the beach at the resort was beautiful enough that we did not feel the need to leave most days. The beach is shared with another resort, and although the beach chairs are not directly in front of the water, they are still well located. The buffet dinner was surprisingly excellent, some of the better buffet food we have had at an all-inclusive. We tried the à la carte restaurants but ended up preferring the buffet most of the time. The food overall was decent, and importantly, we never got sick during the 2-week stay. The room itself was spacious, stylish, and fairly modern. The bed was comfortable and the room was very quiet. We could not hear the neighbors at all, which made for great sleep. The AC worked well, and the shower pressure was amazing. The room also had American standard outlets, which was convenient. The Bad: Although the room looked modern, it was not the cleanest. There was mold in the bathroom and dirty cushions. The hot water was excellent once it arrived, but we often had to wait about 15 minutes for it. Service quality was inconsistent depending on where you were in the resort. Some staff were excellent while others seemed less engaged. The lobby was also freezing cold at all times, which became uncomfortable quickly. Another frustration was the coffee situation. Despite having a real espresso machine, most coffee drinks were made using pods, and the only espresso-machine drinks consistently available were cappuccinos. The Ugly: One of the biggest inconveniences was access to cash. The ATM in the lobby and even the pharmacy ATM were not functioning for us, so we had to go all the way to Philipsburg just to get money. What made this more frustrating was that the resort encouraged tipping, but staff could not provide small change for tips. We also avoided the pool area because the chlorine smell was extremely strong. Overall: Overall, we enjoyed parts of our stay, especially the beach, the buffet, and the quiet rooms. However, the cleanliness issues, inconsistent service, and logistical frustrations made the experience feel uneven. We would potentially return because of the all-inclusive value and beach, but next time we may consider trying Sonesta Ocean Point instead.
The location was perfect , room were nice . Service in the village tavern was great . The bartender was great during our stay . Made the time there very fun .We had good service all around and every age group had fun . Overall we were very happy and would stay there again . Only con is they should add more variety to restaurants and maybe some more shows .
