Eher einfach zweckmässig zum Übernachten eingerichtet ohne grossen Charm. Kleiner Aufenthaltsraum aber ansonsten nalles gut.

From the outset this is not the most social hostel due to small room size and separation between rooms. However I was still able to enjoy conversations with roommates and other travellers in the common room, after dinner and at breakfast.

Reviewed Jan 14, 2026Good place to stay for a night when visiting Sun Moon Lake. I also valued the shelf on a wall as I had the top bed in dorm. You'll also get a coupon for cheaper bike rent under the hostel, but bike wasn't really good.
I feel like one toilet with one shower in one bathroom for like 8 ppl is not enough, but we managed. We were allowed to use the one in comunity room, so that make up for it a bit.

The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, making the stay comfortable from start to finish. The hostel is well maintained. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a good place to stay while visiting Sun Moon Lake.

They asked me 100 taiwanese dollars extra if I wanted a lower bed. In the room we were only two people (the second day), and the other guy was not paying the 100 extra. There are other options in the same price range with better facilities, like a nice roof top.

El chico que limpiaba y además hacía de recepción parecía estar apurado lo que no hacía muy fácil pedirle información, quizás deberían tener una persona que limpia y otra que atienda las inquietudes de los viajeros, pero al parecer ese no es el estándar en Taiwán, y tampoco en otros lugares de Asia

Reviewed Nov 11, 2025Passei uma noite e gostei muito. O quarto é bastante confortável. O banheiro fica dentro do quarto, o que é ótimo, pois dividia apenas com as meninas que estavam lá também. Tudo limpo, cama confortável. Entrei em contato antes com o anfitrião para informar meu horário de chegada e recebi as informações sem problemas para entrar e deixar as malas antes do horário de check in. Foi uma estadia tranquila e satisfatória, com certeza ficaria novamente.

Reviewed Nov 9, 2025Great location - close to the bus station and all the restaurants and bike rentals. It is more of a hostel that offers also some rooms. We could leave our luggage in the common room (which provided tea and water) and check in later. The room was extremely spacious.
The owner of the hostel seemed overly cautious about every little thing, kind of fussy. There is a rule of no hot water available after 21 or 22 o'clock and we were not allowed to take a shower as it would disturb the people downstairs - a weird request from a hotel at this price. There was no elevator and we had to carry our super heavy suitcases up to the 3rd or 4th floor. The shower in the room was a bit older, but okay. The pillows were too high and hard (even though I'm not normally bothered, here I couldn't sleep well).

Das Hostel hatte eine sehr gute Bewertung. Da habe ich mehr erwartet. Kein Zimmer hat ein Fenster und allgemein war der Service sehr streng und nicht anwesend. Außerdem war unser Bad direkt am Zimmer, sodass man andere Gäste stört.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2025Let me tell everyone about my experience at DEER TRAVELER. My visit included serious problems in the living room area that can directly cause health problems. 1/ There were bugs crawling on the dinning tables in the living room area. i took a picture of at least 3 bottles of pesticides inside the same room. 2/ The Host in 30 Celsius tempeture weather will not let the AC run in the living room area, and refused to let me open the window as it will damage his property. i have his demand in an email via EXPEDIA. 3/ The host verbally demand living room area is off limits after 2300 hours each evening, however does not provide the hour it re-opens each day so the guest are locked inside there room only during unknown hours. 4/ Showers are taken between 0800 to 2200 hours each day. There are 4 beds in my room. 5/ My locker key did not work. i emailed the HOST for repair or a new locker. He insisted the locker key was cut 2 sided, and i was using it incorrectly. I showed the HOST the locker key in my hand was cut one sided only. 6/ The HOST is truly dishonest after i arrived to add the addition house rules as it was not mentioned in the original ad.
