Sunset Royal Beach Resort - All Inclusive

Awesome place, great hospitality, and the people are so caring and friendly. Your all a family there. Edgar is the man, he is the head butler if you need anything be will try his hardest to make it happen. I sure hope that sunset takes care of him and keeps him around. We had the 2 bedroom suit and that it was it was sweet. The member service department there top notch answers all questions and if a issue they go above and beyond to fix it. Can't wait until next year to see are sunset family.

The resort was great. We were assigned a 2 bedroom presidential room upon arrival, but it's view was blocked by the spa/gym building. We asked if they could move us to a room with a better view and they accommodated us with one of the best views on the property. The staff was wonderful and really tried to make our stay great. We appreciated the bars on property filling our water bottles whenever we needed. The location is great - within walking distance to many attractions, restaurants and stores. We also tried the bus system and that worked great to get around town.

I’ve been sitting on this review for a couple of months because I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just writing out of heat-of-the-moment anger. I re-read my drafts with a clear mind, and honestly? I still feel exactly the same. We stayed here for two weeks (Dec 22, 2025 – Jan 3, 2026), and it was a massive disappointment. The only real shout-out goes to the housekeeping staff; the cleaning crew does an incredible job and they seem to be the only department that actually cares. Everything else? Not great. The Noise (It’s Inescapable) If your room faces the Italian restaurant, forget about sleeping. The dinner noise lasts until 10:00 PM, which is fine, but then it actually gets louder. They start a deep-clean of the kitchen that lasts until 3:00 AM. Between the clanking and the music, it feels like the kitchen is literally inside your room. It was impossible to actually rest. Dining & Management Failures The planning here is non-existent. One night at 8:00 PM, we waited over an hour for a table in a restaurant that had 20 tables open but was only seating nine. Even though those 10 tables stayed emptyt and nobody from a "waiting list" showed up, the host refused to seat us. They kept telling us the wait was 20–45 minutes, which is ridiculous for an all-inclusive resort we already paid for. To make matters worse, they wouldn’t even call our room when the table was ready—they insisted we sit in the lobby and wait. When the food finally arrived after a 40-minute wait, the portions were insulting—I was served exactly eight gnocchi for a "meal." To add insult to injury, the buffet was actually closed during the holiday because they were using it for a private event for members only. Even more concerning was the lack of hygiene; I saw cooks handling food without gloves, which is just unacceptable. As for the drinks, in certain areas, they were clearly just serving flavored mixers with no alcohol at all. The Membership Trap & Second-Class Treatment It is very clear that if you aren't an "associate" (their timeshare-style membership), you are treated like a second-class guest. We spent a full day at the beach and not one person offered us a drop of water. For an all-inclusive, that is predatory. The beach is split in two: the right side is for members (with pretty huts and cushions) and the left is for everyone else. If you try to sit on the "member" side because the regular chairs are old, uncomfortable, and literally giving you back pain, they won't serve you. A waiter straight-up told me he only serves people with gold or silver bands. We paid a decent amount of money for two weeks—at least half of what we spend on a year's worth of groceries at home! It felt like we were being punished for not having the right colored bracelet. Even the entertainment was a letdown for a long stay. The shows just repeat every week, so if you’re there for two weeks like we were, you’re just watching the exact same thing twice. Plus, on New Year’s Eve, we actually had to pay extra just to attend the show. Constant Technical Issues * The Locks: The battery to our room died three times in 14 days! Once the day we arrived, again on Dec 28 when the system went down, and a third time on Jan 1st. * The System: When their system crashed, we had to go to reception every single time we wanted to get into our own room for a whole day. * QR Codes: Everything is run by QR codes, which is a nightmare for older guests. Even when we asked for a new code for room service, the lady who brought it tried to force her way into our room at 9:00 PM just to "verify" if we had it. I didn't let her in. * Maintenance: Our shower door knob broke and was never right. The "Staged" Social Media Don't believe their Instagram. They delete negative comments (I saw one about a scam, liked it, and then got blocked). The pictures show chefs cooking by the pool, but I never saw any of that. It felt totally staged. Meanwhile, the hotels next door looked so much better—their staff was well-dressed, their chairs had cushions, and their parties actually looked fun. Holiday Chaos & Management Greed Management is clearly stingy; they didn't bring in enough staff for the busy season. On Jan 1st, they had staff working from the start of the day until 2:00 PM the next day. They were exhausted and overworked, and you could tell. Because they didn't plan, they ran out of everything—food, drinks, even piña coladas. I don’t blame the staff; I blame headquarters for being too cheap to provide for their guests. Verdict: Save Your Money Go somewhere where "all-inclusive" actually includes food and water, and where you aren't treated like you’re begging for a pleasant time. In my younger days, I stayed in student hostels and was treated better than this. I’ll be taking my vacation budget to a different Caribbean country next year.

The food was mid, I expected better quality>quantity. Staff was mostly really nice—I just wish some areas were open longer. The bar, and gym.

The hotel is great, but staff can be rude and pushy for tips! You have to come prepared with cash because they are going to ask constantly.

Excellent time at Royal Sunset; we especially liked the ability to travel from one Cancun-area Sunset resort to another. Our local catch Red Snapper dinner at Caribbean Azucar restaurant was fabulous! Lastly, the butlers at Royal Sunset were GREAT!

I was very happy with how close the beach was and the pool. The property itself is starting to show its age. It needs an update. For the most part, I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. I expected much better! And the only white wine selection was a crappy Sauvignon Blanc. It's not fun to go your whole vacation without a decent glass of wine. Yes, I could have walked off the property to find my own wine, but this is an all-inclusive resort! I should automatically be able to get a very good glass of Chardonnay, my white wine of choice! And while the waiters were able to find me gluten-free rolls at dinner three times (one time I was brought horrible tortillas toasts!), there should be gluten-free options at breakfast and at the snack stand on the 8th floor.

We enjoyed everything about Sunset Royal Beach Resort, including: Location, Facility, Staff, Food, and Service. This was well worth the trip and money spent.

Very nice beach, centrally located, good food, staff is very friendly. Accommodation are clean and good.

There is no way this is a 4.2 amongst even the least discerning consumer. A/c (couldn't cool down and is filthy leaving us sick), somewhat dirty room, roaches found twice, massive noises all night, and terrible sheet process left us with a terrible sleep all week. Food atrocious and the liquor options poor - you won't come close to using the all-inclusive amount (we went out every single night or we would have had a terrible culinary experience). Not one reply from their reservations email. Staff is great but the facility itself is a disaster. Locked out of room once. TV was a disaster and required maintenance twice. Toilet clogged once with maintenance dragging plunger on bathroom and shower floor. Bed itself seems they bought the cheapest beds (sinks in all over). Concierge highly aggressive and kept calling room.t. One of the bigger things - they can't fix it but the architecture of the tower atrium is nice but sadly is cavernous and you hear dishes and glasses and noise clanging at all hours and I mean all - so if someone is sensitive to that (or even normal like us) ... they should stay in another part of the resort. And def a family resort more than for anyone looking for a luxurious couples escape. Still glad we went but would not stay in one of their four facilities again. They need to spend some money and bring in a consultant - Staff and guests deserve better.

We just stayed a week at Sunset Royal. This place is great but made that way by the staff they have. While the restaurants were very slow at seating the people everything went smooth after that. The Butler staff was where the service was top notch. Edgar leads by example. We had Guadalupe help us mostly. Everything she said she would do she did. We never had to wait on anything. She always made it happen.

I had a wonderful experience, my neighbor took me with her time sharing program. It worth it. The staff at service were fully trained and went out of their ways to make sure that clients are well served. Definitely go again and check out their other locations also.

We had such a wonderful experience! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly. A very special mention to Samuel, who always greets everyone with a warm smile at the front desk. Our butlers Lupita, Rafael, and Edgar were absolutely fantastic — attentive, kind, and always making sure we were well taken care of.

We been coming to Sunset Royal for many years now and still our favorite place to relax and our favorite place for me and my family to spend our vacations away from home. There is and incredible team that makes our time memorable and continues to make us coming back each time. The butler team Edgar Celio, Lupita , Sarah and Rafael ensure our time is well spent and we receive the best service . The F&B Team have amazing people that always treat us very well. Amairanis and Roberto at the Aquarium restaurant and Kelly, Diego and Ricardo from El comal. Thank you Sunset Royal for an incredible time . We see you again in November

Amazing humble service &very accommodating staff. Delicious variety of foods. Butlers Sarah, Lupita, Rafael & Edgar Celio assisted us in so many ways during or stay at Sunset Royal.

Location is great, beautiful beach, relaxed atmosphere, no one bothers you, staff is friendly specially Isaias beach and pool server. They do games to entertain guests at the pool and beach with prices to winner. The rooms are very well maintained, nice and comfortable with ocean view or lagoon view. I was given ocean view on 4th premium room. It had a sleeping sofa area divided with a glass from the bed area. I slept with sliding door open to hear the ocean, beautiful sound of waves. Luis Vivas was of great help and assisted me with all my needs, he is very patient and great customer service. I arrived and my stay had been moved to another resort 45 minutes further into Playa del Carmen due to overbooked rooms, no availability for those days, it was hacienda 3 rios a higher scale 4 diamond grade and nice but, I refused to go that far. They would offer transfers free of cost to resort and to airport. I denied the change of hotels, Luis found a room for me after I was getting irritated for the inconvenience, he managed it very well and patiently always with a friendly attitude. He offered a couple’s massage on the house for inconvenience of having to go to Ocean Spa hotel for my stay, I refused to stay there is a much older hotel in a puerto beach more like a bay, not ocean, I wanted to be by the ocean turquoise waters not a regular bay water. Luis saved my review with his prompt action to accommodate me with Royal Sunset that I had paid for. Food is ok, but nothing to love. I told Luis they need to open a Buffet at dinner time, since all the 3 restaurants are ala carta and wait times are about 1 hr to be seated in all 3. Menus are small not to many options. This was not the staff fault nor Luis. He accepted my suggestion to have buffet at dinner time like they do for breakfast and lunch. The location is very close to Coco Bongo, walking distance 2 blocks. I would come back here. Is clean, friendly small hotel. Thank you Luis

The beach at the Sunset Royale is the best! The next best thing was Sarah, our BUTLER. She was very attentive and made us feel at home from the first day. She went out of her way to be helpful and make this stay very pleasant. The restaurant hostess Amairani Always greeted us with a happy face. The waiters, Alberto, Antonio, and Guadalupe were very helpful, kind and efficient.

⭐ DO NOT BOOK HERE – THEY STOLE $30,000 FROM ME! I cannot stress this enough: stay far away from their so-called membership offers. They stole $30,000 from me, and it was the most shameful, blatant theft I’ve ever experienced. The sale people are cold, unsympathetic, and completely unprofessional. The salespeople and management are directly responsible—they pressure you aggressively, mislead you, and have absolutely no regard for honesty or ethics. This is not a hotel; this is a local business pretending to be legitimate while robbing you in broad daylight. I want everyone to know: this hotel is NOT safe for your money. Do not trust their offers, do not sign anything, and do not make a reservation here. If you value your money, your time, and your peace of mind, avoid this place entirely. Seriously, save yourself the nightmare I went through. Travelers, beware—this is a warning you cannot ignore.

We have been going to Sunset Royal since it first opened 30 years ago. A few staff have been there the whole time and that shows how consistent the great service and "family" atmosphere of the place. We were very fortunate in that we were there just before the Sargasm seaweed arrived. Rooms are clean and very functional even as they are a bit dated. Food and service are very good.

We were told upon arrival at the Sunset Marina that we could be up graded at no cost to the Sunset Royal, off in the taxi we go to (no charge) to new location. Check in had a bit of a hiccup as they asked for card to run the additional tax, which we informed them was already paid for at prior property. We were then reserved in a 1st floor room, right next to the kitchen. Entering the room, we noticed, no towels, no iron and mini fridge was empty and off and dirty. Out ocean facing room was behind hedges by the pool area. We complained and was told they would move up the following day as they were figuring out room situation of other travelers. 2nd day we were finally moved to the 8th floor lagoon facing (not ocean) two beds (not single queen). Upon arrival to new room our bracelet did not work to get into room, waited in hallway with Xavier (excellent service) our porter for 45 mins while they made attempt to access room which eventually had the maintenance man come up with a drill to pick the lock to let us in. Once again, no towels, since we were finally gained access to room after 8:45pm we tried to call room service (phone did not work) had to go downstairs and use the front desk phone for ordering (phone fix the next day). Mini fridge in room did work, complained the following morning and was assured it would be fixed. Made 3 additional complaints about it and was finally replace the next day but not stocked, we had to purchase water from the bar (Luis and David were excellent bartenders) to put in fridge and. The following day after being out for the day we returned to the room, and they added a few can sodas (4) and 2 oj's.. The final two days of our stay the AC went out overnight so had to sleep with the sliding door open (traffic noise, not much sleep) which was very disturbing. Once again, we complained and 1st time it went they sent someone to fix it but it went out again. This resort should not be classified as a resort but rather a boutique hotel, only had two restaurants for dining with dressing restrictions and the outside grill area for light snacks. Overall, the food was basic, left the resort to venture out for more authentic food choices. We were told they had a swim up bar but did not find one onsite but rather next door. The beach was nice if you were able to get seating and the pool area (1 pool) had plenty of seats but not enough umbrellas. The bar area was very small with 5-6 chairs but additional seating in the lobby. Would have been nice if the ATM machine worked but did not the entire week. found two machines door stairs that you could get peso's from but would have been nice to know that and not 3 days into our stay.

We spent a couple of days at Royal Sunset Resort and overall had a decent stay. The property itself is attractive—slightly dated in places, but set on a truly beautiful stretch of white‑sand beach in the hotel zone. The location alone makes it easy to relax and enjoy the scenery, and it’s also just a quick Uber to the Coco Bongo area, which makes it a great choice if you love nightlife and want to be close to the party scene. A few members of the staff were genuine standouts: warm, attentive, and exceptionally kind. Their service really elevated parts of our stay. That said, the overall service experience was mixed. Several staff members seemed indifferent, and on a couple of occasions we encountered interactions that felt unexpectedly short. I understand that everyone has off days, and I also recognize that we’re used to staying at Hacienda Tres Ríos, which offers a higher level of service within the same resort family. That comparison naturally shaped our expectations. Royal Sunset has good qualities and some memorable highlights, but it didn’t quite reach the standard we’ve experienced at their sister property. Still, it’s a pleasant place with a great beach, a lively location, and some truly wonderful staff members, and it could be a solid choice for travelers looking for a more relaxed, lower‑key stay with easy access to Cancun’s nightlife.

customer service from Sarah, Rafael, Erika, & Diego was exceptional. They made our stay special, Azucar restaurant 5*

One of the team members assigned to us at check out, Sarah, was phenomenal. She perfectly balanced checking in on us while not being intrusive. She was always just a text message away from helping with dinner reservations, reserving chairs on the beach, or whatever we needed. Our waiter at The Capriccio, Daniel, was another great team member. Team members like Sarah and Daniel turn a good vacation into a wonderful one!

What a great experience with the help new found friends.

We exchanged for this resort through RCI. We did not take the all inclusive the first week as we had a kitchen so we could cook. The kitchen had literally nothing in it. No saucers, bowls, knives; we had to toss our salad in a pot. Very disappointing. Not to mention there were cockroaches in our kitchen. Our room was large as it was a one bedroom and the bed was comfortable. But, we had to get maintenance in several times ; no hot water ( it takes about 5-10 minutes to run the water to get hot) our sink stopper got stuck and maintenance had to remove it; our safe locked us out; air conditioning didn’t seem to work. The beach was amazing but you had to get there early to get loungers. We found the resort was tired and old. The lobby had no pizzazz and the lobby bar was tiny. Every chair in the resort seemed to be stained and that included the beach loungers. The beach towels, if you could get them, were frayed, torn and stained. The food was only ok. Although we did have a delicious clam chowder in a bread bowl at Aquario. The final straw for me was at breakfast the napkin I had was lipstick and coffee stained That was where I had enough. I’ve never left a resort mid vacation before but I was so done. To the RCI persons credit they did transfer us to the much higher end resort ,Hacienda Tres Ríos which was very nice. They did make it right for us which we were very grateful for. This is a budget hotel and family friendly. If you go I’m sure you will have a good time. Just keep your expectations very low.

We had a wonderful time at the resort! Sarah, our butler, went above and beyond to make us feel special! She was such a delightful, thoughtful and caring person who made sure every detail of our stay was magical and romantic 🥰!

Have a very good experience with all the workers the bartenders the servers excellent service will be back soon . From the beginning to the end, everybody was so helpful and assisting on any question I had.

We have been going to the Sunset Royal Beach Resort for 25-30 years. There are a few employees we have known for years and many are new. We especially enjoyed the entertainment staff including Luis, Roxana and Angel. Our children loved their energy, the arts/crafts, games, sports and everything offered for kids. Luis, Roxana and Angel were wonderful and we enjoyed getting to know them. They did a great job all week with smiles on their faces :) Jorge and other servers on the beach were also wonderful each day. Our concierge, Sarah, was always friendly and helpful. She responded quickly and truly cared about our experience at the resort. It was great getting to know her. The housekeepers were friendly and always did a great job cleaning our room each day. We requested to have our room cleaned earlier in the day and Sarah made sure that this wish was considered. The nightly entertainment was wonderful, especially the Michael Jackson and Mexican shows.

Very nice service! Great people... and we love the food... clean, nice room. awesome location, we loved it... we will be back...

Our Butlers were amazing. They made our trip go so smoothly. They literally catered to our every need. Made our dinner reservations, reserved our beach chairs, and our transportation.

We enjoyed our stay a lot. This our 4 time and never disappointed. The staff is very friendly, excellent customer service, all areas always clean which makes us feel very happy and pleasant. Special mention to Diego and Christopher at the SPA whose gave us a great hospitality in our experience at the spa Also wanted to recognize the servers at Acuario and Capricho restaurants , bartenders , front desk and Concierge staff specially Ahmed who always was attentive and helpful to our needs and questions We will back soon

I’m writing this at 5am on day four of our week-long stay because sleep isn’t possible. Restaurant prep noise starts early and echoes through the hollow, open-center building all the way up to the fourth floor. Combined with amplified pool activities during the day, noise pollution runs from about 5am until near midnight. We stayed here on an RCI exchange specifically because it was one of the few options without mandatory all-inclusive. The plan was to cook our own meals and avoid resort pricing, but the unit is so poorly equipped that we had to go out and buy a knife, dish detergent, and basic kitchen implements just to function. Check-in took place in a small, cramped, chaotic lobby, followed by the usual attempt to route us into a timeshare presentation. To his credit, the concierge accepted no immediately and sent us on our way. The building design is the core issue. Rooms face both interior restaurants and the pool/beach, creating a constant echo chamber. Pool activities are run by an activities host who shouts into a microphone all day, yet despite the volume, guest engagement is noticeably low. Karaoke in particular was largely ignored, which made the constant noise feel unnecessary and sad rather than festive. A friend attended the Michael Jackson show and said it was actually well done, but overall the activities felt disconnected from what guests were interested in. Our two-bedroom unit (a one-bedroom attached to a studio) had a poorly designed connecting door that blocks the walkway when open and locks itself when partially closed. The kitchen included an induction stove that shuts off every 15 minutes, a useless Keurig (pods not available in Mexico), one dull knife, minimal cookware, and missing basics—clearly discouraging guests from cooking. On the positive side, the cleaning staff and valets were outstanding—friendly, professional, and doing their best in a poorly managed property. We would not return, even if the stay were free.

Amazing service , amazing hotel in comfort and the food incredible and great staff , best time of the year, can’t wait to go back.

Great attention from each of the members of the staff at Sunset Resorts. They took care of every single detail to have us feeling welcome and entertained during our family vacation. Thanks a lot for your hard work!!!

There was not many reviews for our sepcific situation. We were treated very well and the grocery store was very close by. The beach was extremely amazing. Taco resteraunts 7 min walk away! Everything was good about this resort. Because we didn’t take the AI, our review does not evaluate anything related to that. But we were treated well by all staff

The hotel and amenities were wonderful. Most special is the friendly helpful staff. Location was perfect for our holiday cancun trip 🥰

It’ was my first time at the sunset Royal Beach.Beautiful Resort Very Friendly staff Love to go back next Christmas Vacation

We enjoyed our time at this resort but noticed a reduction in the standards of maintenance, replacement of worn out items and cleaning. ie: dining room chairs and cloth napkins with food and drink stains, room balcony chairs falling apart, entertainment area roof in need of repair etc.

The location was fabulous, situated directly on the beach with easy access to the swimming pool and three on-site restaurants. As someone who prefers smaller, quieter places, it was ideal for me; however, guests seeking a lively party atmosphere with dancing may find it less suitable. The rooms are quite large, though there is no balcony. Housekeeping does an excellent job cleaning the rooms daily, and the overall noise level is very quiet. Restaurant service is impeccable, and the food is wonderful. That said, guests who prefer a wide variety of dining options may find it limiting, as there are only three restaurants on the property. The hotel itself is small, but it is conveniently located on a main road, just a five-minute drive from a shopping centre.

We had a wonderful time . Staff was excellent. Great food. Lots to see and do. Weather was terrific. Will go again soon. Wonderful place to take family.

This was our 11 year that we have experienced Sunset Beach Resort. The staff are very welcoming and treat us like family and recently the resort added a butler service which we love…the butlers Lupita, Sarah and Celia were very helpful. The resort is small so we find it quaint, comfortable and very relaxing..! Check In with Roberto was very friendly and fast and we were in our rooms within minutes. The rooms were what we asked for on the Sky Lounge floor with a beautiful view facing Cancun and the Lagoon..! The other that we have met over the years were again there to serve us and make us feel welcome…Rosa the breakfast cook, Albert, Roberto and Danny the waiter, Carlos the manager of the Aquario Restaurant are always there when we need them..!

The beach is beautiful. The staff is wonderful. The only thing they could improve on is the food. The specialty meals were very good. The normal meals were good but could be better. Overall, the vacation was amazing as always. If you are able to, be sure to reserve the pairing dinner.

We went as a couple. I feel it’s is more of a family place. We had a great time though. Atmosphere was relaxing. Drinks were great. Service staff were friendly with quick service. Place was clean. I feel room service food was better than food in the restaurants. I have zero complaints.

Wow! I was staying at Sunset Royal from December 1-9. It was one of the greatest hotel experiences I have ever had. The staff were truly amazing and I felt so welcome. Sarah - She was extremely welcoming, friendly, and so personable from the moment I entered the hotel. She truly went out of her way to ensure that my experience was unlike any before. She was very helpful with sharing the activities for the day, and was always quick to answer any questions I had. She was quick on her feet, extremely kind, and truly someone I loved getting to know. Alberto, Guadalupe, and Roberto - These 3 were extremely funny and helpful for breakfast every morning in Acuario. They had made me laugh more times than I could count, and were always there, bringing my drink without me having to ask. They were always checking in on how I was doing and it was an experience like no other. Alan and Jose - These 2 were super amazing during my dinners at Capriccio. Jose is such an amazing person, he had showed his true hard work. When I observed him, he was running around the restaurant nonstop. He is extremely hardworking and when I asked him how long he had been there, he informed me it was only his second day. I was extremely impressed with his work ethic, attitude, and contagious joy. Alan had provided exceptional service on all nights I had gone to Capriccio. He was very funny and kind. He is truly like no other! Jorge - He had been my beach butler for all days of my trip. He is truly someone special. He had been exceptionally helpful, quick on his feet, and extremely hard working. There was not a moment where he had stopped in the almost 9 hours I had been outside. Even from my hotel room, I could see him setting up umbrellas and getting towels for guests who had not even come down from their room. He is extremely kind and hard working. All these people, and everyone else I had the lucky chance to run into had made a truly unforgettable experience for me. Thank you to all the staff. My experience was over all wonderful. All the activities were engaging and fun. The rooms were exceptionally clean and food was VERY delicious. ¡Muchas gracias equipo de Sunset Royal!

It was fine, but not overly impressive. The service was not great at the restaurants. It was hard to get the server's attention for refills on beverages and the food was not the best quality. Our shower was cold every day too. The pool and the beach were great and our view was lovely.

All the staff were amazing and went the extra mile to meet my need specially Sara my Mayordoma. She was the best host I could ever have. One thing I didn’t want to say before was the food. I didn’t want to say it before since it would had changed at all. There were few place that were good from Comal restaurant and the omelets. The rest were very poor quality. I paid almost $1,000 dallor this food. I will not be buying the all enclusive ever again. Again this wasn’t on Sara and don’t want you take on her. I wish I can have as an employee because she is very dedicated to her work. Employee like her are worth like gold.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is tasty and the drinks are super tropical! The activities are engaging. The location is ideal for a good balance of relaxation and night life fun! Walking distance to lots of restaurants and shopping!

Our concierge Sarah and Manuel were amazing!!! We have been members since 2006, this trip was different cause we found a colony of cockroaches. My kids were disgusted and couldn’t touch anything in the kitchen The coakroaches were all over the drawers and cabinets. Even when they sprayed the kitchen we saw a few .

Had a great week at Sunset Royal. All the staff was amazing, but Sarah, one of our butlers, went above and beyond! The chef’s did a great job with Thanksgiving dinner! Turkey was delicious!!!

Beautiful resort with awesome staff! The activities team including Luis, Kevin, Roxana, Sam, and Diana were engaging, welcoming and fun. They helped make our vacation amazing and always included our daughter in activities. Isaias, Karen, and Roberto are excellent food and beverage staff. They were always willing to help.

My wife and I visited Sunset Royal Beach Resort on Nov. 16-23 this year and had a great time. We had a 1 bdrm. suite with a view of the ocean and it was perfect. The overall facility was decent and clean. I wanted to give a special shout out to our server at the beach/pool, Jorge Delgado. He was by far the best snd went out of his way to take care of us each day. We were there to totally relax as we just came from another property where we had my daughter's wedding. Thanks to the overall team at Sunset Royal. If you make it to this resort, ask for Jorge! Thank you!!!

The staff were amazing—always helpful, with special thanks to Rodrigo Huschim for outstanding service. Dining was hit or miss: the Capriccio Italian Restaurant fell short, but the outside café and other indoor restaurant were much better. Overall, the hospitality made the trip worthwhile.

My wife and I made our first trip to Cancun ever this week and stayed at the Sunset Royal resort. The resort has incredible beachfront property with easy access to the beach. The staff blew us away with they professionalism and sincerity. Orbe greeted us each day on the lobby and ensured we were taken care of. Sergio was our concierge and gave us the best recommendations on adventures and resort amenities. The food and service in the restaurants was top notch. Would stay here again without question!

It was an amazing experience I will recommend it 100% the service in the hotel it’s excellent and the food is delicious. All the employees and staff we’re really genero us

This was our first all-inclusive resort experience and overall it exceeded expectations. We loved laying on the beach listening to the waves—just the relaxation we were looking for, made even better with the occasional delivery of drinks and snacks right on the beach! The sales push was a bit off-putting, but expected at a time-share resort. The restaurant offerings were surprisingly good and varied. There were also fun amenities, like kayaking, and the entertainment staff provided lots of fun—Latina Zumba is a no-joke work-out and the Beach Party was so much fun! The gym is really small and a bit outdated, but the bike path/sidewalks right outside the resort are great for a run. The excursions offered at the resort were competitively priced and convenient. We’d definitely recommend this to our friends.

Went with eight family members shared a two bedroom, which gave us a lot of room had fun with Kevin at the pool bar and our waitress Cecilia. The beaches were beautiful and the food and the service excellent.

Excellent service and attention from all the staff, very good experience in our first time visiting Cancun, can’t wait to go back again…!!😃

We had a great time. Luis and the entertainment team did an amazing job with lots of activities and music. We really loved our server Karen. The only downside on our trip was the water taxi was not available. We probably spent around $100 on uber to go back and forth with our friends to the marina resort.

Needs renovation. Rooms smell food all day. 6 am and you can hear noises from lobby and restaurants. Employees all the times asking for tips.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. The beaches and water were truly breathtaking—crystal-clear, clean, and inviting. It was such a pleasure to relax on the soft sandy shores while enjoying the stunning ocean views. The service was exceptional; staff members were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. The overall atmosphere was incredibly peaceful and calming, making it the perfect place to unwind and escape from everyday stress. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing beach getaway!

Upon check out, they did not even ask how our stay was! It seemed that they were most concerned about us returning the wristbands. Our room was changed due to the humidity being so high the smell in the room was unbearable. The safe ran out of battery, there was no hot water. No hot water for the most of our stay, had to take showers with cold water - not happy.

Closed when needed

Great experience and very friendly staff! Food was absolutely delicious 😋, our room was filled with snacks and ready to be refilled when we ran out. Room service was excellent too. We will be back soon 😃

We had an amazing family vacation at Cancun Sunset Royal Beach Resort! The Kids Zone was perfect for the little ones, and the activities were super fun for all of us. Huge shoutout to Kevin — so kind, fun, and made the entertainment extra special. Service was great, staff were friendly… we can’t wait to come back!

Beatiful location in the hotels zone, awesome beach, excellent service from all the hotel employees. The food was excellent and varied, the service was very good. The negative points are; the quality of the hotel is not a 5 stars as rated, more as a 4 stars. The bed mattress was uncomfortable, not firm. The pool warter was a bit cloudy.

I had a wonderful experinece at this hotel and is my fourth time staying at the the Sunset Royal hotel. The staff were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to ensure my stay was comfortable. The service was great. Very friendly, attentive, caring staff! Particularly Miguel Ayala, Roberto Sorinono and Raul made the staff memorable. I’m excited to return!

The staff was very kind helpful and amazing. The rooms were great and clean. Overall a great stay!

Pleasant experience. Great acommadations and kind staff. We were especially impressed with our waiter Fernando Padilla from the aquarium restaurant.

I understand that in July the seaweed level is high, but at least the hotel should clean up what ends up on the shore. All the noises of washing dishes coming from the kitchen could be heard in the room until after midnight. Smelling the aroma of cooking when you go to eat at a restaurant is normal, but not every time you leave your room at any time of the day.

Trip was amazing! Food was great, a lot to choose from, just maybe need more items for kids menu- I have a picky eater. Room was clean and with a great view. Services were great, overall a great much needed experience!! Would Love to go back.

Perfect view from the room Very nice room, full view of the ocean The best service we could get from all staff Great food Access to other hotels and restaurants via the shuttle bus was excellent

English: I don’t even know where to start… First of all, a huge thank you to the entire hotel staff for their outstanding service. The experience was absolutely amazing and exceeded all my expectations! We were treated wonderfully, my kids had an incredible time, and thanks to Emma, Rox, and especially Luis and Kevin, we had so many fun and unforgettable moments. I 100% recommend this place. The warmth and hospitality were truly top-notch. 10/10! We’re definitely coming back next year. Thank you for making our vacation unforgettable!

The resort was amazing. There’s lots of daily activities for the whole family to enjoy, the food was delicious, everyone was so nice and attentive. Big shout out to our Butlers- Hiroshi, Edgar, and Luis who went over and beyond to make my daughter’s 18th birthday a special one.

The entertainment team of Kevin and Luis was very engaging, my grandkids were enthusiastic everyday when both of them gentlemen were woy

Overall, we had a good stay at the resort, but there are definitely areas where improvement is needed—especially when it comes to staffing and service. It was clear the resort is significantly understaffed. The restaurants on-site were decent, but service was consistently slow, particularly at dinner. We often had to wait just to be seated, even when tables were visibly open. It was disheartening to see the staff constantly rushing around, clearly overwhelmed and overworked. It reminded me of working conditions back in the U.S., where employees are stretched thin. The company really needs to invest in hiring more people and supporting their staff better. One frustrating moment was during breakfast when a server claimed I never placed an order with her—even though I had. It felt dismissive and added to the sense that staff were stretched to their limits and trying to juggle too much at once. The resort has great potential, but stronger leadership, better staffing, and more support for their employees could really elevate the guest experience.

Don't go. Its a tiny run down hotel. Nothing special at all going on there. We were told it is very kid friendly. Its not. Its a closet room and the staff is almost never there. The playground is one slide and the pool has a basketball hoop and nothing else.

It was an amazing time, food was good and service was good.

Overall, the place is clean, but too boring. Also, the food is not all that but eatable the bar service was horrible. We were treated with such disrespect. The spa was amazing and the guest service the maid service and the concierge was good. This will be my last time there because we were treated so disrespectfully From Miguel the bartender.

Excellent service Dear Manuel and Luis and all Thank you very much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Its been a pleasure to have your support during our stay . I couldn't be more happy . Its not just the place We love but the people around us Take care From all of us ❤️❤️❤️❤️thank you See you very very soon !!!!! Love always Mon Mercy Christian and Prim hendrix Honey And Lucas

My stay was good, a few things I would change like softer pillows and better AC. And lastly better communication on activities and resort info at check in. Besides that our room was nice and the hotel was small nice for families with little ones. The beach was the best one from all the chain resorts. Staff Kevin was great, he was very attentive and kept us busy with games and card magic show! Both him and Emma were great company! Waitress at the Mexican restaurant at nights were also super attentive and made sure we didn’t have to wait super long. Whenever there was a big wait they would let us know.

Nice room, the beach is really beautiful depending on the season! The resort is really small and intimate lovely for a relaxing stay. This is not a party hotel, but the entertainment was nice, they would have really good singers in the lobby to entertain. The last call at the bar was at 11pm. Food is hit or miss you have to really try everything to know what is the best. But there is definitely some good options! Kevin from the entertainment team was super friendly, kind and fun! Kept us entertained with dancing, card games, and magic tricks! Emma was also lovely she helped us decorate cupcakes! Somethings I will change would be a colder AC in the room, softer pillows, more information for people that arrive to the hotel late at night. (This was us and we had no clue about any of the amenities or where things were located, we had to figure it out along the way).

Our stay at Sunset Royal was an amazing experience! I travel with my family and the kids had an absolute blast at the kids' club, where they got creative with arts and crafts like making a piñata and painting portraits. It was so great to see them having so much fun and learning new things. The room was spacious and comfortable, complete with a stove and refrigerator, which made it easy to enjoy meals together when we didn’t feel like dining out. I also really enjoyed the different pool activities. The morning yoga sessions were a wonderful way to start each day, helping me unwind and feel refreshed. The entire resort truly offered something for everyone, and we left with great memories. Highly recommend for families looking for a fun, relaxing getaway!

I had a mixed experience during my stay at this 5-star hotel. On the first night, we found a cockroach in our room, which was very uncomfortable and concerning—especially given the hotel’s high standards. Unfortunately, the initial response from the night staff and reception was disappointing and indifferent. We had to insist on being taken seriously, which added stress to the situation. However, the next morning, the experience improved significantly. The front desk manager and the general manager both got in touch, offered a sincere apology, and handled the issue in a much more professional way. They upgraded our room, gave us two complimentary massages, and offered a dinner for our family, which we truly appreciated. While the first impression was upsetting, we are grateful for how the management took responsibility and made a real effort to compensate for the inconvenience. I hope they reinforce their nighttime customer service protocols and cleanliness procedures so that other guests don’t go through a similar issue. The way they followed up made a big difference. ⭐️ Calificación general / Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) 🧼 Limpieza / Cleanliness: ⭐⭐ 🙋‍♂️ Servicio / Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📍 Ubicación / Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 💰 Relación calidad-precio / Value for money: ⭐⭐⭐

This place lacks customer service. I felt this place is very racist. Many times we were overlooked when waiting to be seated. Most of the food we got was cold. A lot of the staff was ok. But most were rude and you could hear them talking about you behind your back. They tell you it’s all inclusive and then they charge you for things you didn’t know cost money. Then they reprimand you for not knowing that things cost money when it was never written anywhere on the papers you signed. They also advertise going to visit their other properties, but, when you go they say you are not allowed to eat or drink anything. Not even water! They try to sell you a membership to any of their properties, but why would you buy anything when you are treated badly, can not get water at the sister properties and reprimanded like a child at every turn. Oh, and did I mention racist? There are a lot better properties than this one. I would suggest going elsewhere!

A lack of shows is beneficial for seniors who prefer to go to bed by 10:00 and have limited activities: a few low-quality shows, nothing too exciting.

Stay Away from Their Sales Pitch! Do yourself a favor—avoid their sales department at all costs. They are not here to help you. They are ruthless and heartless, and they won’t think twice about taking advantage of you—even if you’re going through personal or family struggles. Once you sign a contract with them, there’s no easy way out. You’ll be stuck, frustrated, and possibly out thousands of dollars. Save yourself the stress and protect your savings. Their sales tactics are full of empty promises and deception. Don’t fall for it. Run. walk—away from their sales pitch.

Yes

Great beach and beautiful views

The service was very slow but they are very friendly. My bedroom was VERY noisy, hard to sleep. Not too many options for eating. Breakfast was great, lunch not that good and dinner ok. Not too many options.

This is a small resort. Only 202 rooms. Therefore activities are limited. There is only 3 restaurants. In the a'la carte restaurants there wasn't many vegetables or any fruit to choose from, just a few dishes had them. IMHO they could've used some different ideas for night time entertainment. They did have several good bands during our stay. They had activities for all ages. Even a playground for the kids. The food was delicious!! The staff were awesome! The place was very clean except for the pool. But, it was really windy when we stayed & I think it was the wind that blew most of the trash in. It is a 10 minute walk to a nice pharmacy. Another 5 minutes to their (flea market) with tons of souvenirs and jewelry. It is safe to walk around there, even at night! There was some seaweed but in pretty small quantities. Not the resort's fault. What was the resorts fault is they let it accumulate during the week to where it started getting smelly & thicker. One day whomever raked it folded it back into the sand. It makes the sand darker!!! Not a huge deal, but it matters to us. The ocean was beautiful with big waves. Red flag almost every day. One good thing about the wind, we didn't get hot! Lol The place is fairly quiet during the day. They do have music playing. It was a reasonable sound level except for a few times when they're having activities. The music gets louder. Would recommend if looking for smaller, quaint exceptional service & good food.

Manuel, Jesus, Daniel do great work. All employees are extremely hard workimg and are always pleasant. The resort was small but perfect for couples or families.

Excelente hotel. Buena area de playa y a 10 min caminando se la zona de discotecas y de un mercadito para souvenirs

The worst place to stay if you’re looking for all inclusive resorts. Food are extremely bad and not to mention the liquor are watered down. Daily activities are not a thing for me and everything else is just the worst place to stay at.

Friendly staff, beach club, private beach, wide variety of dining options

Very limited foods

Helpful staff, very clean, I love the food at the Italian restaurant. What I don’t like is very few daytime activities, they don’t follow what’s in their program of activities. No notification if it has been cancelled or not.

The hotel is very clean and the attention from the employees are very good. The food was good, but they only have three restaurants there. I did like the access of the other hotels they have; where you can go and use their amenities, food and beverages. There is not night club so if you want action at night, you will have to go outside for that, and spend money unfortunately, but overall the experience was very good. I will definitely will come back to visit!

The service was great! The employees were a delight, and never hesitated to help whenever we needed it. The Kids Zone was fun for the kids, and Iracema was lovely. She sat down and painted with my little one, and played some games with him. She definitely has the right attitude to keep the kids entertained.

Grissel at the Sunset Royal is an incredible asset to the company. She makes you feel like family. She provides a feel of pampering while you lounge on the beach at Sunset Royal. Sunset Royal has incredible staff that make it such a special here. Grissel treats you like you are so special. She adds in to tell you she loves her work here at Sunset Royal.

Amazing experience with amazing staff edelweiss Fernando and Jesus our server! of activities and the beach was great! The resort was clean and I enjoyed playing volleyball as they come with a net. Hope to come back nxt yr with my mom. Unforgettable
