We were disappointed to stay here. Angel and Monica are very friendly and helpful and the food was simple and tasty, but apart from that, the stay left a lot to be desired. No wifi in our room and the generator for the electricity ran incredibly loudly all night. There are not enough sun beds in the shade for all guests, they are grotty and broken, and unlike the photos there are no umbrellas. The garden and property could do with a lot of work to bring in line with alternatives on the island. The room was very basic and towels were not changed during our stay.
If you’re looking for a place that feels completely cut off from the world, peaceful, with a splendid view, where you can finally take the time to read that book you’ve been meaning to read for ages, and with discreet but absolutely lovely staff, this is the place. You mainly come here to relax on a sun lounger overlooking the sea. A paddleboard is available, and you can book boat trips or scuba-diving excursions right next door. There is no air conditioning, but there is a welcome fan. This also means that the birds can come and perch nearby, while you watch the crabs and pelicans. The island moves at its own peaceful pace, far from the tourist hotels of Isla Grande. I highly recommend bringing closed-toe water shoes! The coral is not far away.
It's quiet and you are greeted by a lovely staff. Food is delicious and great variety.
Staff was really nice, and it was generally a nice quiet place.
Curtains were very dirty
This is a difficult place to rate, but after spending two days there and going to Isla Grande, we would have not chosen differently. The sandy access to the sea is a big advantage that many nearby hotels lack. The proximity of the corals on the other side is great too. There are a lot of sun-beds on both sides and not a lot of people in hotel which gives a very calm vibe. Check in was available early (around 12). Other reviews gave us a very realistic overview of what is to be expected. This is not a fancy hotel. You go there to disconnect, slow down and enjoy the sea. The host is very kind and helpful. Also, although there is no AC we slept well during the night and it wasn't too hot.
The nets in the windows is very very dusty and dirty. The fan too, hasn't been cleaned for a while. Filtered water is not available until you specifically ask for it (it would be nice if it was more accessible). Also (but this is applicable to other hotels in the vicinity too) keep in mind that it costs 210,000 pesos per person to get to the island and back. The food is very expensive (45,000 for the cheapest option, the same options for lunch and dinner) and there is only one small shop. We would strongly advise to buy some snacks in Cartagena to bring with you.
The weather was horrible, and the boats didn't run, and they were kind enough to cancel our reservation on the same day!
Location was great - two beaches on different sides of the island. Our room had an outdoor bathroom, which we loved. The staff were very friendly and sweet and attentive.
Breakfast was really simple and plain. There was no water available on site and we had to pay a lot at restaurants to get water.
The outside bathroom was a fun addition and the canines on the property were very friendly and happy chaps
200,000 pesos for a cold christmas dinner which we were not informed about the price for and when the manager offered a half price refund for the 2 (400,000 originally) somehow it still wasnt half price so i think we might have had our trousers down.
Chambre spacieuse.
Great crew, great location with beaches on two sides of the property, clean, rustic charme
Przede wszystkim super personel, świetne spokojne miejsce, kameralne, z dala od głośnej muzyki i hałasu
Great welcoming. Perfect place to relax and forget the world. Good breakfast. Two beaches with long chairs on shade, or not. There are not real sand beaches in Rosario Island but few steps to get to the clear sea. All staff was very attentive and helpful offering meals or confirming returning boat. Fan is enough in the bedroom and there was mosquito nets on windows. Snorkelling , diving, water boards renting besides.
I came during humid season, with very little wind. My choice But it was no worst than Cartagena in this season! Certainly better to come from December to July with stable trade winds.
Danke 🙏🏻
The place is located right by the sea, on a beautiful tropical island surrounded by lush vegetation. The hostel itself has a very charming and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for disconnecting and enjoying nature. Breakfast is included and always fresh and delicious, while lunch and dinner can be ordered at the hotel’s restaurant, both are incredibly tasty with plenty of options. The internet (Starlink) works very well, which was great as my wife and I both work online. They also have solar panels and a generator, so you won’t encounter any issues with power cuts. Boat tours are available to explore Isla Grande and other nearby islands, which is a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend a few days in a small tropical paradise. We spent a wonderful week here and would be happy to return in the future.
Everything was great! 😁
Me encantó, unas vacaciones soñadas.
Posto veramente tranquillo e raccolto.
I stayed at Hotel Isla Tijereto during a work trip and found it perfect for combining productivity with relaxation. The island is quiet and peaceful, making it ideal for focusing during the day, and the Wi-Fi was reliable enough for video calls and emails. After work, having a private beach and comfortable common areas to unwind was a big plus. The staff were attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a serene work-friendly escape.
Liked everything
Ruhig (kein TV) und lokal eingerichtet: Keine unnötigen Fensterscheiben und Klimaanlagen.
Eduardo and the staff is welcoming and always here to help you in any case!
-
Time here is like stepping back into the 1940/50s. The property itself was once a family villa that has a colonial air about it. Sitting on the veranda at night supping a glass of something or other it felt as though I'd inherited a sugar plantation. Electricity is generated by solar, water is a precious commodity. There is no air conditioning. Instead, Isla Tijereto boasts simple fans and lukewarm gravity-fed showers. It sets Isla Tijereto apart. Personally, I loved it. Food wise; breakfast, lunch and dinner are perfectly fine. Wine, when available is good. Eduardo, the owner, is warm, attentive and speaks fluent English. When Eduardo is around the staff are really on their game (but not so much when he leaves). If you want high-end luxury go somewhere else but if you’re looking for an atmospheric short stay bolthole, it is perfect.
Getting there and back - journey takes an hour in choppy waters, plus local boatmen drive like madmen! It is really, really bumpy, and wet, if you are prone to seasickness (I am) take tablets. And pray for calm seas.
The staff was simply amazing; extremely welcoming, warm, friendly and fun! The also have a dive center at the premises, which made it very comfortable to organize some dives during our stay there; the diving team was equally helpful and friendly. The accommodation (as described) is very rustic and spartan. But if you are fine with that, then I would recommend this place and the island in general for a typical Colombian Caribbean experience :)
Some basic lighting at the entrance of the venue would have been welcomed, as it is completely dark at night.
I really that it has 2 beautiful beaches, one in the back of the property which is suuuper calm and good for snorkeling and one in the front that it more wavy
The restaurant doesn’t have many options, the ones that I had were ok, is more like a homemade food rather than a actual restaurant
Beautiful island. Right on the shore. Nice and quiet. Good seafood. Dive company in the hotel.
Nearby resort needs to turn their very loud music down. But it's not a big deal. You can always go to the other side of the island!
This is a special place surrounded by natural beauty. Location is amazing with the ocean on both sides of this small hotel. It offers many water activities including scuba, snorkel, swim and Kyack. The ocean is warm and turquoise color. It is quiet and hotel doesn’t take a big group of day trippers. The food is home cooked island meals and very good. The staff is helpful and Victor went out of his way to do something for us. The rooms are basic and bed is comfortable. It’s a small hotel and other travelers were friendly. This is a great place to truly relax.
The staff were very friendly, few playful animals, basic and rustic which is as expected for the price and matches its description. It’s located in the middle of the island with sea to the front and back and you can easily walk around the island to visit the other hotel bars/restaurants
All good and as expected. We were happy
Only very basic breakfast included, for anything else you have to pay
The place is okay - it is just that the price-quality is far off. The beach is rocky, there are very limited proper sun beds etc.
Loved this place. Had read mixed reviews so was a bit nervous before going. Went across with Navy Boats all very efficient. Met at the jetty by the wonderful Dally who looked after us really well. Room was a good size and very clean. We also had an outdoor en suite bathroom which worked really well. There is a good range of food available all cooked very well by Robert. They ask you to order in advance which makes sense as it is a small property. You can also buy beer wine etc. you can walk over to the nearby Fragata house for lunch if you fancy a change. The waters around the property are crystal clear and fabulous for swimming. We also did a snorkelling trip which was terrific and well priced. It is a veryquiet place but wonderful for relaxing and chilling out. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Loved it! Amazing place, had a wonderful time at Tijereto. The coral reef is a must. Great food, and service.
I recently had an amazing stay at Tijereto. It was a fantastic experience, and here's why: Comfort: The rooms are cozy and inviting. The bed was super comfortable, and I had everything I needed.Free Wi-Fi, made my stay easy and enjoyable. Beaches: The hotel is right by the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The soft white sand and crystal-clear blue waters were stunning. I could easily access the beach and enjoy lounging on comfy chairs with umbrellas. Staff: The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They were always there to assist with any questions or requests. Overall, my stay at Tijereto was fantastic. If you're looking for a simple, comfortable, and beautiful place in the Caribbean with friendly staff, I highly recommend it.
Very little!
The property needs significant refurbishment. The service is of sporadic quality. Food is sporadic quality. No AC in rooms. We left 2 days early. Another family arrived & left immediately. Would consider it more of a back packers hostel & not a hotel. Rates are far too high for the facilities - recommend you choose elsewhere e.g. Frugata next door or Pirate Island.
This is not a luxury resort. It is a local experience on a property with a fantastic location, beach and waterfront, at back and front. Remember you are on an island and enjoy being immersed into local way of life and culture. Order meals early and tell them what time you want to eat, they make to order so it takes an hour.
Rooms are a bit rough
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Tijereto during my vacation in Colombia, and I must say, it was an experience beyond compare! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and impeccable hospitality that set the tone for an unforgettable stay. Let's start with the comfort—the hotel exceeded all expectations! The furnishings were tastefully chosen, but simple, creating a soothing ambiance that instantly relaxed me. The bed was a great. Now, let's talk about the beach. The hotel's location offered breathtaking views of pristine, powdery white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters that stretched as far as the eye could see. It was like stepping into a postcard! . The beach loungers and umbrellas provided by the hotel ensured I could relax in style while savoring the gentle sea breeze.
everything was good, and enjoyable.
The location
The service, the noise, the neighbors, the animals
Excelente experiencia.
A beautiful location with s great staff.
Had to pay for coffee with milk and black coffee was free. we didn’t know.
The staff at Isla Tijereto were absolutely wonderful. They were kind and personable in a way that you often don't get at larger resorts. Just good people working hard to provide a perfect experience for their guests. Would 100% stay here again!
Bugs and poor internet connection were the only drawbacks.
The staff was very nice and accommodating. The location was sounded by nice beaches and other restaurants and spots to visit. Yalila was one of the staff who went above and beyond with serving us.
The place was very rustic and did not represent the pictures online. The check in was very choppy. The food was not very good, and they were not very good at making cocktails so we drank beer mostly. The room was poorly decorated and over crowded with mattresses.
Nothing to like about it.
As a Colombian I am ashamed. This place, with that rating is a BIG mistake on Booking.com It is simple unacceptable to pay ~100 Euros (regardless of the season) for those services and facilities. "Private bathroom", was not even in the room, it was next to the reception with no certainty that it was not used by the staff themselves (no key was given). All the rooms are within an area that has barely any privacy. As the rooms and all "social" area was within the same range, you could here everything, as of course there were no window glass. There is no chance for peace as in the private property of the neighbors (within 3 meters distance) were playing loud music all day long. The cleanliness left much to desire, as the towels although washed were all full of stains, whereas toiletries were as basic as it can possibly be. The bathroom had a net that barely cover half of the window, for a meager privacy and tranquility. The meals may have been decent in taste, but overpriced and being the only place to go there was no other option. The staff pictures and comments do not coincide at all with the reality. The picture of the three service staff on booking do not show any of the current persons working there. The names on the reviews do not correspond either. The manager Raul, had a terrible attitude, and to make matters worse, they had problems with the credit card payment system. We barely manage to stay the night to arrange our way out to Big Island early next morning.
