Nice place
Breakfast choice was good, parking was easy, food in restaurant good
Excellent value
Very good facilities, clean, modern, well presented
Clean & comfortable generous sized rooms, excellent food & every single member of staff was really friendly & helpful, I can’t fault the place
Menu was excellent loads to choose from. The rooms were in very good order. Friendly and efficient staff 10/10 from us👍
We had a good visit
It’s in a handy position just off the M42. Rooms are very good. Breakfast excellent! Great food options all day.
All staff were very friendly. The staff we had to interact with were efficient and polite. We had a family room and it was lovely, clean and the beds were very comfortable. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner & breakfast the following morning. All was lovely, dinner was particularly tasty.
We stayed at the Appleby Hotel for one night when visiting family. The room was clean and had everything we needed. There was a good choice of food at breakfast and the staff were friendly. My only criticism was that our room was above the kitchen and there was some noise when going to bed. Overall a pleasant stay.
Great family room, spacious. Lovely outdoor space for children. Food was excellent, very generous portions. Gluten free catered for very well. Unfortunately the shower in room 33 constantly dripped. Other than that great 1 night stay after a long day at Twycross Zoo. Thanks
Brilliantly laid back place to stay, friendly staff. Great hospitality to children and adults!
Constant noise at night from either air condition units or heat pump units. Booked and paid for two nights but stayed one. Would'nt stay again.
Bed wasn't particularly comfortable but maybe that was because we prefer Kingsize bed. Curtains do not cover the windows completely and allow light in from the car park lighting.
Very welcoming place Freindly staff
We have stayed here previously for a festival and found the food really tasty with incredibly generous portions, lovely friendly staff and nice rooms for a great price which was the reason we chose again this year. Unfortunately, we are not sure if we can stay again next year as hoped as the price has jumped up by almost £100 for the same weekend.
Room was recently refurbished and very clean. The bed was comfortable but the room was quite hot on our first night, with no Aircon or fan to cool it down. The hotel communal areas are a little dated but clean. The staff were great and breakfast is a nice addition. Location is also great, just a few mins from the M42.
Excellent stay. Recently refurbished room. Easy access. Quiet at night. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast. Exceptionally clean. Great value for money. Highly recommend.
The room was spacious and clean, with a double bed, tv, wardrobe, chair, hair dryer, iron and kettle. The bathroom was also spacious and clean. The shower wasn't amazing, the pressure was lacking and the temperature was constantly changing. Unfortunately we were in the room above the kitchen, so had the noise from that, but it was soon tuned out. Wifi connection was good for browsing and watching streaming services. The staff that we encountered were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ordered and served quickly, with a selection of hot and cold drinks and cereals available. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return if we come back to the area!
Lovely hotel, room looked as though it was newly refurbished. Breakfast was perfect. Location was great.
The staff are so friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely be back!
Stayed here whilst attending an event at John Moore Foundation school, which is a 5 minute walk away - the hotel is in a really convenient location for many attractions nearby. This hotel has obviously been refurbished recently, and whilst it's been done to a budget, it's perfectly adequate for what you need. The room facilities are decent, again on the basic side so don't expect a range of different teas and coffees, but if you want a cuppa you'll be able to get one. We had breakfast, which was suprisingly good quality. Overall this was excellent value and I'd stay here again if I was in the area. Some suggestions for the hotel team - a blackout blind would've been nice for the rooms on the front of the hotel, facing the road - the sunrise in the morning comes through pretty strong!
Excellent service by the friendly staff, including enquiries before and after our stay.
We attended the Appleby Inn for our daughters wedding, because of this we arrived and left at unsociable hours. The instructions for doing this was made very clear. All of the staff went the extra mile to accommodate us and really made us feel nothing was too much trouble. We also dined in the restaurant and the food was very filling and very tasty. The whole experience was great service and a great price, Thank you.
Superb room spacious clean. great staff. eat and drank in bar gret.food great breakfast highly recommend this hotel five star from me
Very helpful staff. Hotel very clean and well maintained. Lovely breakfast, excellent value.
We went as a family group using 2 room, i famoly room and 1 accessable both were really lovely with comfortable beds spotlessly clean. The accesssa room was particularly good. Which was outside with disabled parking outside the door and tge bathroom was lovely not at all clinicle looking. The breakfast was of really good quality and cooked perfectly. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
Nice spacious room, just could have done with bedside lamps. Friendly staff. Good cooked breakfast. Easy to find and park. Just a bit tired in terms of ddecor or look, but otherwise very good.
4went as a family in 2 rooms. One accessible which was excellent. Outside with disabled parking outside the door. Family Room lovely as well. Spotlessly clean and comfortable beds. Breakfast quality and well cooked to order. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Only light and ventilation was a tiny window at the end of a corridor made by the en suite, the room had no decoration so with the lack of light resembled a cell. It was extremely clean however and breakfast was really good.
Could not believe the quality of this hotel for the price. Everything was top notch. Location, price, staff and food were excellent. Can not recommend highly enough.
Lovely hotel and staff very friendly. Lovely clean and comfortable room
I’ve read all the reviews about this hotel and restaurant and every one of them is positive. And we couldn’t agree more. The staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you. And the food! Well it’s fantastic - beautifully presented and enormous portions. Would thoroughly recommend.
Honestly, never had a better hotel stay! The room was clean, had plenty of usb plugs, most comfortable beds ever, lovely breakfast and really convenient to visit Twycross zoo. I can’t believe how good it was for the price! There is a small play area for the kids and the food in the restaurant was good value for money. We stayed in the accessible family room with fridge and car parking space.
Family journey overnight stop. Rooms were well appointed, fresh and tidy. Restaurant on site very convenient. Excellent breakfast, good menu choices from cereal to full English. Have stayed many times and will stay again.
This is a great hotel with an outstanding restaurant. The rooms are big, warm and confortable. The staff are friendly.
We stopped here for one night. Not a bad place, and location was perfect for what we needed (visiting Statfold Country Park the next day - outstanding place.) Appleby Inn Hotel is a busy family pub, with a large restaurant, and some hotel rooms. When we arrived the pub/restaurant was very busy and quite noisy - this quietened down as the evening wore on, and overnight, was very quiet. Restaurant served a good range of food, which we enjoyed. Breakfast was very good; cooked to order and decent quality. We'd probably stop here again if nearby; it was convenient and comfortable, though a little characterless.
Super Hotel comfortable and very friendly Staff
Food was excellent I didn't like in the morning cleaner's proping the doors open with the clean sheets and towels that they using on your room . Discussing
My company booked this for a 4 night stay whilst on an induction course in the area. I did email ahead asking for a quiet room as I’d just been in hospital and was feeling a bit “delicate”. I received a reply from a lady called Jane saying they would accommodate my request and I loved my room - no.18 It was on the 1st floor, large, warm, clean, well equipped and with a lovely modern bright bathroom and a great shower. Bed a tad firm for me but I slept on top of the duvet to pad it out and used the extra blanket as a cover and slept really well. Kettle, iron & board and a very decent hairdryer too. We ate in the restaurant every night and the food and service were excellent. Pub grub but great quality and huge portions. Good choice of cocktails and mocktails Breakfast was freshly cooked to order each morning and was the highlight of my day. Again lots of choice, and I loved the fancy coffee machine which did a yummy hot chocolate All the staff were super friendly, helpful and efficient and we all loved our stay. Lots of free parking and the rural area felt very quaint, quiet and safe. Would highly recommend
first visit here meeting a relative from Tamworth. Hotel needs updating due to its very good position. Food and service excellent staff kind and patient-my companion was very late arriving! I would certainly visit again as there was certainly no problem parking.
Lovely stay. Clean and comfortable hotel with everything we needed. Restaurant was good for evening meal and great breakfast was included. Staff friendly and helpful.
We had a room for 4, it was a good size, the beds were comfortable, the carpet was nice & it was clean. The bathroom was basic but perfectly fine & clean. Breakfast was reasonable too. The staff were all friendly & made us feel welcome.
We stayed here as a family prior to our visit to twycross zoo. It was perfect for us, double bed and two single beds. Plenty of space, clean. We had our own outside door to access the room from so could go in/ out from the car park without disturbing others. Breakfast was delicious.
Super good value and extremely comfortable beds. Food in the pub was great and also good value and we all enjoyed breakfast- even my picky kids. Staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking.
Worth the money.Great staff and service 👌
The room was large with plenty of wardrobe and draw space. The room including the bathroom was clean with everything we needed. The staff were friendly, we will definitely be back
Good stay but needs refurbishment :)
Another great stay at the Appleby Inn. Wonderful disabled room. Great food, excellent bar, amazing staff. Breakfast was lovely.
This is our 4th visit and once again the hotel was great. We checked in on line and collected our key and the lady at reception was so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was really good as always. For the price you really can’t complain. We will definitely be back again.
Slightly dated but an excellent, clean, comfy hotel. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Quiet despite our room being above the bar entrance. Breakfast, plentiful beautiful (I highly recommend the sausage). Check in and check out swift. Perfect location for a visit to Twycross Zoo
Stayed many times when visiting the NEC which is just half an hour away, great breakfast and the restaurant food is excellent.
Bed was comfortable, staff friendly and a tasty breakfast.. hotel is a little tired.
Comfortable room, excellent shower room. Breakfast plentiful and very tasty
Comfy room, great pub meal and breakfast
Perfect stopover for East Midlands airport. (20 min drive) Booked last minute and stopped at the National Memorial Arboretum before checking in. Had a lovely walk around here - well worth a visit on a dry day. £4 parking if you book in advance and then free entry. Appleby Inn was just the job. Had evening meal which exceeded expectations. The restaurant was really busy considering it was mid week, but we didn’t need to wait for a table & food was served fairly quickly. The room was large & airy. Breakfast lovely too. Would definitely stay again for the airport. 👍
Working away gr8 hotel and food is 10/10 plenty of free parking
very helpful staff very clean rooms themeal on the night was lovely
Have stayed many times but this Tim Ed not so good! Insufficient towels in rooms for 2 Bed mattresses are shot z as nd past best Contacted food poisoning in restaurant but hard to prove! Initial treatment when reporting was poor management not on site! Child’s meals are way to big for 5 year old and over priced at £9!! Will I book a gain ??? Don’t know
We were in an accessible room and parking for disabled was directly outside. Nice big rooms, friendly staff.
Average hotel staff was friendly bedroom was okay though double bed was small and mattress was low quality. Quiet location. Food was good value.
Clean and convenient
Ideal half way home stop. Accesible rooms are great for my Wife's condition. Bar food is great and great value. Lovely breakfast.
The Inn was very nice from the outside. If your just going to eat in the restaurant it has a very good menu to suit all tastes. but be prepared to pay top prices (95p for half a tomato). The room that we stayed in was a family room which was not in very good condition and set out wrong in our opinion, as the children's beds should have been placed separately from the adults bed, with some form of separation. There was no air-conditioning in the Inn so was very warm and stuffy which made it uncomfortable. There should be a lift to enable easy access to the second floor as very difficult for the elderly with walking aids or has difficulty walking up stairs as they were very steep. The breakfast service was very good with a very good menu and caters for all tastes. The staff throughout were very helpful and friendly.
Had a good 3 day break here. Great location. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order. Plenty of staff who were all very pleasant and efficient. Shout out to them all. Ate there two of our evenings and food did not disappoint. Good size portions. We knew it would be good due to the amount of people that were constantly coming and going all day and evening. Room was clean and fresh. Bed comfortable albeit only a double. My criticisms about the room was it was directly opposite an outside entry door. in the morning has everyone coming through to the breakfast dining area. They showed no consideration that there was 3 rooms that had the possibility of guests were still sleeping! Outside is the extractor fan for the kitchen, thought initially this world be a problem but it wasn't for us, though other reviewers have commented regarding noise and smell. During the day the door is kept open till 23.00, the draft coming under the door was not pleasant. Rolled up towel to stop the draft. The room was ground floor, which we did request due to difficulties accessing stairs. Be warned though, the room above is very noisy. I believe it was housing elephants with boots on throughout our stay. Finally, for some reason they have placed above the door A Fire Exit light, which has a constant brilliant green light. Which at night becomes Blackpool illuminations. In all my days of travelling and hundreds of hotel rooms I have never had a Fire Exit lamb in and above my room door!!! Unfortunately I did not mention this on our checkout to purely find out the reasoning for it. No we didn't complain, just accepted the issues and am only pointing them out here to forewarn future guests of issues that they might not be so tolerant of. In which case stay away from rooms 34, 35 (ours,) and 36. Would definitely stay again, but not in these rooms and would suffer stairs for an upstairs one.
Room was as described. Ideal for an overnight stay and an excellent breakfast
Amazing place
We had a very comfortable stay at Appleby Inn Hotel. The room was clean and well-appointed, the sraff were polite and helpful and the breakfast was top-class.
Dinner in the hotel was great. Hotel location was convenient for Loughborough grsduation ceremony.
Great food and lovely room
Great hotel with absolutely amazing staff all of whom couldn’t have been more cheerful and helpful. Only down side for us was room adjacent to very noisy road
Was super pleasantly surprised with this place. Didn’t expect much as it was cheap for a family of 4 but the room was so spacious, had a separate little living area and the bathroom was also big & had a decent shower! We also had a fridge in our room along with plenty of tea etc so it really was like a little apartment. Bed’s were comfy too! There was also free breakfast included for each of us with a range of hot & cold options (cereal/ English breakfast, etc) We had dinner in the restaurant the night of our stay too and the food was great. Staff were pleasant and nothing was too much to ask! The only slight niggle I could give was that the room was a bit too hot even with windows open so maybe a fan would be good to offer in the bigger rooms.
Nice food and staff - main issue is that the front rooms are on a suprisingly busy road with lots of traffic noise 24/7
The hotel is always clean and a great breakfast at a reasonable price
Very good and comfortable stay with family.
Room very warm so had to open window - road outside very busy all night therefore not much sleep! Room basic but clean and adequate for our one night stay
Staff were friendly, food was brilliant- tasty with great portions both in the bar and for breakfast! Room was a good size, lots of parking and a lovely location. All just a little dated !
Stop over when heading to France. Lovely quiet area and enjoyed the walk to nearby village and 2 inns. Good service at very reasonable price. Large breakfast selection. Food well prepared and staff all friendly and courteous.
Excellent room at an excellent price, very friendly and accommodating staff and a lovely breakfast included
Everything was superb. Really enjoyed our and will stay again
Staff and service were excellent, food was lovely and lots of it too! Bit dated as a hotel but didnt spoil our stay at all.
Fab hotel for download not far food was excellent and the breakfast. Hotel slightly dated otherwise fab
Excellent
Good sized room, ironing facilities in the room, good wardrobe and drawer space..
What a gem! Brilliant hotel, the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful and that was all staff - reception, bar, restaurant, and breakfast. Really pleased we stayed here. And they were welcoming of children, which was a huge relief, travelling with a 1 year old and a 4 year old. The play area was excellent, great to get fresh air with the kids. My one moan would be the extractor fan and/or air circulation unit noise, which I did hear on and off all night, but it's to be expected when there's a restaurant onsite. Huge bonus was the delicious evening food in the restaurant.
Excellent customer service. This hotel is auper clean and cosy. With a great restaurant for all tastes.we slept next to road though which was noisy so try and ask for a room away from it. Would stay again.
We stayed in a triple room for 1 night over May Day bank holiday weekend. Room was spacious. Check in was very smooth. All information on hotel and breakfast explained clearly. Breakfast cooked to order with ability to help yourself to juice, coffee, fruit and cereals. Plenty of parking. Would definitely stay again
It’s very close to Twycross Zoo where we were meeting other family members Good family room
Lovely place, very reasonably priced, staff were fantastic and the food was great. Highly recommend and would come back again.
Amazing stay, lovely room. Amazing service and food. Definitely recommend we have an annual stay as the kids love it
Spacious rooms, good staff that checked us in, good breakfast including and hot. Expedia shows incorrect location a quarter mile far.
Staff were excellent, helpful and professional.
Had THE most awful experience here. Here are some of the reasons I strongly advise you to stay away: 1. THEY STOLE £200 FROM ME. They charged my card £200 for allegedly eating a takeaway in the room. I was utterly shocked after checking out to receive a snotty email and a £200 charge on my card for a rule I didn’t break and didn’t even know about (I’ve made multiple requests for evidence that either I had a takeaway or had been informed about this secret rule which they have continued to ignore). 2. They LOCKED US IN. When we tried to leave the car park gates were locked and a queue of cars were waiting. I rang reception and the guy angrily told me the gates weren’t locked and hung up on me. I had to walk back up to reception and insist we really were locked in, and it still took another 20 minutes for some guy to take a leisurely stroll down to the gates to let us all out. 3. THEY LOCKED US OUT. They didn’t inform us that they keep the hotel doors locked at all times and you need to phone them to get back in. This meant me and my sick boyfriend had to wait outside in the rain for 30 minutes because we didn't take our phones with us. 4. The nosey hotel owner kept following my boyfriend round whenever she saw him out for a walk, asking prying questions and making inappropriate comments that made him uncomfortable. 5. There was a disgusting red stain on our bed sheet when we arrived. I don't even want to know what it was.
The bad - Avoid room 35! This is around the back of the hotel unfortunately close to the kitchens so the smell of fat permeates into the room. It is also directly opposite one of the entrances. The door lets in greasy smell, light and draught (light and draft sorted by towel along the bottom). Also there is a bright green light above the door that shines all night. I couldn’t cover that! The floorboards in the room above creak at every footstep. The good - lovely modern shower. The food is the saving grace of this hotel. Restaurant dinner and the breakfast were lovely. Really friendly staff too……..which is what has bumped my review up to average.
The hotel is very nice a lovely location. The rooms are very hot even with the heating off.
The breakfast was amazing. Really good value for the whole stay and food in the restaurant was fab
Very good breakfasts and food in the restaurant. Good value for money. Friendly staff.
Great for an overnight stay, location perfect, great food in the restaurant and lovely staff
Very good one night stay. Large comfortable room, very clean. Busy restaurant serving good quality meals. Very good breakfast with plenty of choices of hot and cold options. Friendly staff.
Stayed at the Appleby Inn for 2 nights as attending a wedding at Twycross zoo. The room was lovely and spacious. We ate in the restaurant on Friday evening and enjoyed very good food. Even the lighter bites were plentiful. Breakfast was as good. The staff couldn't do enough for us. They were so helpful and accommodated our needs. A great stay in a great hotel.
