Location and service
Lack of ventilation in bathroom
All staff were very pleasant and helpful, NO Irish employees.....to be seen Staff were multi tasking from breakfast duty to checking out, or checking in clients and also serving dinners etc......the hotel seems to be very understaffed I did try to contact the hotel a few days before we arrived.......to confirm our booking......Spoke to Joy and a Patricia but no accsess to reservations.. I did ask a staff member, but they said head office was in Limerick I had understood it was a family run hotel, but no family members to be seen...
As above....... Very well situated for visiting The Burren etc, but little else in Ballyvaughan, but maybe summer months are better Continental breakfast selection poor, no selection of cheeses or cold meats
good location and not as bad as some of the reviews would have you think, our room was nice.
as i was leaving early the morning after our stay one of the staff parked her car in such a way as i was completely blocked in and could not leave, by pure luck i was looking out the window at 6.30am and saw it happening so ran down to the car park to stop herand get them to move her car. the lady was very put out and just shrugged and said he couldn't see what the problem was, someone would have figured out who's car it was, she was incredibly rude.
Prima kamer, goed bed. Mooie algemene ruimtes. Goed ontbijt.
Reception staff kindly changed room because original had no curtains
Breakfast could have been included
The location was excellent - Ballyvaughan is a beautiful area.
The hotel room we were allocated was in dire need of an upgrade. There were numerous stains on the carpet. The timber panelling in the bathroom had evidence of timber rot and the vanity unit was very badly repaired. The biggest issue was the shower temperature could not be regulated and was extremely hot to the point it was dangerous. When checking out we brought it to the attention of the receptionist but got absolutely no satisfaction. In our opinion this hotel was extremely over priced charging €185 per night not including breakfast.
We loved everything, especially the music in the bar. It was so relaxing and homely especially the views of the Burren. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want peace and quiet . So relaxing 😌
Nothing.we hope to come back again soon B
Checking out
Hotel was shoddy-on making our way to our room, there was a door which was warped or damaged and could not fully close-this is an external door, meaning anything or anyone could access the hotel. The bedroom’s window is in need of replacement, flaking and broken in parts. Inadequate lighting in the bedroom which was cramped. There is no indication that there is no elevator in this property yet there are rooms on the third floor which required a significant walk and climb of 6 sets of stairs. We are a couple in our senior years and were significantly discommoded by this. The staff were impersonal. There was no sense of welcome or assistance.
Great location. Lovely staff. Bed and bathroom very clean and comfy. We’d stay again.
Bad carpet stains in our room and needs an update on the stairs.
Great staff, great food and great entertainment the night we stayed!
It’s not overly modernised in regard to bedrooms, although it’s exactly what to expect from images etc when booking. No real faults with anything.
Clean lovely staff music in the front bar and right in town
Niets
Perfect hotel in the perfect location
Great hotel, great village... Will definitely be back
Good breakfast, good staff and dinner
Our room was very noisy from the pub next door.
Location is great and staff were very helpful
The furnishings are dated, a little shabby, stairs carpet worn and held together with tape.
Bed was comfortable.
This hotel is very run down and is trading on its reputation -it was once a nice hotel
Location.
In old part of hotel , furniture a bit battered for antiques. Carpet worn.
Central, cosy
Nothing at all

Room was large and good facilities.
Breakfast could have been included in the price.
Very central in village. Walking distance to pubs . Ample Free car parking. 12pm check out. Huge amazing bath in bathroom.
Breakfast was good. Staff gave different times for closing the kitchen. Manager said they may have to close early for food, as it did not get delivered yet 🤷♂️
The carpet in the bedroom was all marked by someone spilling fluids. The second bed in a twin was a child’s size bed . The price charged was higher than quoted. Price of pint of lager was well below the other premises. The bar food was v generous & nice
Location was nice, short walk away from Monks and Soda Parlour. The beds were comfy, the hotel has a nice little Irish charm with a pub inside. Staff are friendly.
Receptionist didn't know any of the food spots around other than Monks (an expensive fish restaurant). One of the guests directed us to the local super market and a brunch spot called Soda Parlour, which was only a 2 minute walk away. Didn't love the breakfast, asked for poached eggs but they were watery and made my toast all soggy :( Pretty average to be honest, expected a gorgeous fry up with hash browns and all the trimmings.
Location
Appeared short staffed
Food and coffee both were Luke warm . Place needs a revamp
Stairs carpet which we felt was dangerous and the damaged glass on the back doors.
Location
No hot water, dusty wardrobe, frayed carpet in room and along corridors,
Very helpful and friendly staff, excellent breakfast and bar food
Bon accueil, bonne cuisine et à l ecoute
Rien
All of the staff at the front desk, restaurant, and pub were welcoming, pleasant, and answered all of our questions (We had a fun conversation with Allen in the pub!). The room and beds were comfortable and clean. The breakfast fare provided had a nice selection to choose from and the quality was very good; very good coffee too. The location of the hotel was great for exploring the Burren.
Some areas of carpeting in public areas (main stairway across from front desk) are severely worn and could cause an accident. Other areas on second floor are water stained. The on/off switch for the T.V. remote in our room did not work and the only way to turn the T.V. on/off was to plug and unplug it.
I really lovely quaint hotel. Super staff, a big bright room, great powerful shower. Breakfast the next day was great, fresh fruit, lovely cooked food, and nice fresh pastries. I really enjoyed my stay.

Both excellent

Ideal for our group stay Comfortable rooms Friendly and helpful staff
Some of the finish in the bathroom was a little tired and needs redoing
Great location and extremely friendly staff. Very comfortable beds and very clean.
Alot of noise in the morning from water pipes but it is an old building so to be expected really.
Central
Really old, not great for the price
The room itself has been recently updated. Location was great and they did have good parking.
The upstairs of the hotel was hot and humid. Luckily there was a fan in the closet, it was so hot in my room even with the balcony door open. The hotel definitely needs some TLC due to age. The shower was less than desirable.
Hotel has lovely feel to it . Nice staff and great location . Dinner was delicious .
We skipped breakfast as 15€ a head on top of room was pricey .
Hylands hotel had wonderful music nights and the guinness and food was great. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Ballyvaughan itself has many food options , Soda parlour , The Tea rooms and Monks restaurant to mention a few . If you want an education on whiskey go to o'loclainns pub have a chat have a beer , if your feeling frisky go for the whiskey .
No complaints
Lovely Staff in reception and bar Easy check in & out no waiting Comfortable beds, cosy large room We ate in the bar , delicious food Music in the bar Great location for visiting North clare
Staff were great
Everything was great
essen war hervorragend und preiswert
The staff was helpful, and they had a decent breakfast. The bed was comfortable.
The carpet was stained, and the place could use a bit of updating.
Staff are fantastic especially Michelle 😃
Property extremely dated and in major need of an upgrade. Definitely has been neglected over the years which is a real shame. But also I will always support this hotel as they didn’t sell out their community for easy money, not like their neighbours. I have been a guest in this hotel on many occasions the last 20 years and will continue my support once in the village. Thank you 🙏
Very poorly staffed, ran out of food on a bank holiday weekend, very badly ran, would not recommend it to anyone
Very badly ran, God help the staff expected to doing ten things at once
Beautiful decor, comfortable beds, great meals, friendly staff, and special location.
Great location and welcoming staff. Be sure to visit the O'Loclainn's Irish Whiskey Bar even if you dont drink whiskey. The Monks Ballyvaughan is a great spot for dinner. Location a great place between visiting Galway and then south to the Cliff Moher or boat to Aran's islands
I would suggest that staff avoid smokng outside behind hotel as the winds blow the smoke back into the rooms above. Refrain or cross the street otherwize rooms will have smoke in room especially with windows in back
Super location, charming comfortable hotel, lovely staff, good parking, nice bar
Better coffee and an electric car charger or two are two easy changes this lovely hotel could make.
The bar is nice
Room was a bit cold
It was clean and staff were helpful
It was very cold in the room.
Lovely friendly staff. Great food and very comfortable
Gteat staff ,very helpful snd responsive ,good breakfsst snd excellent rvening meal
Fantastic service, Keeley was brilliant and so helpful!
The room was very comfortable and clean, housekeeping changed the towels daily but failed to refill the glass bottle of water, when needed.
My room was floor 2-rrom 20, the exit door outside of my room was kept open at all hours, this to me is a safety concern as the door exited to the back of the hotel into the car park. Anyone could have walked into the hotel.
dejlig belligenhed fin service
meget sej lammekød til aftensmad
Very comfy beds. Homely. Cosy. Nice breakfast. Great atmosphere. Cosy fires.
