Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Very good dinner in Hillfield, good choice of wines by the glass, very friendly staff.
Signage to the rooms was a little confusing (I was in the courtyard)
Adorable grounds and the outdoor pool is phenomenal. I had a facial which was delightful and the products they use are fantastic. The room was big, lovely products, wonderful staff, great selection at breakfast.
I was a bit disappointed with the indoor spa. My local gym has a much better spa than here. It’s just a bit basic considering the rest of the hotel is fantastic.
Everything was great
It was all very good and I had a great time.
Претензий к номеру и спа это нет. Но есть большие претензии к кухне и обслуживание в ресторане и баре. Медленно. Еда не очень вкусная. 6 лет назад все было великолепно
Кухня и сервис в ресторане не соответствует стандартам отел.
I liked all of it. The food was a bit pricey though.
There were no where socially to sit and talk with people. It was nice and relaxing but I felt extremely lonely.
everything, especially the TV in the bath and the room decor
early check out
Loved this property as it was beautiful and had a room available when we needed it most! Hotel was charming but the gardens were absolutely gorgeous!! Amazing breakfast!!
Location was more country and not close to any good resources.
The spa is amazing! Staff is very helpful and kind
Lunch menu needs to be revisited as the food was below expectations. Dinner and breakfast was delicious.
Beautiful spa, impeccable staff.
Very expensive, room had no view, asked to be moved nearer the spa, felt like a downgrade. For the price breakfast should be included.
Beautiful hotel and pool
Had a lovely spa but couldn’t get a treatment in the spa, there was no availability. Very disappointing. Old fashioned rooms
Beautiful grounds, amazing spa!
Rooms are okay for a property of this nature - good size but tired. Service levels and quality of food basics like breakfast really needed to be better for this to be a true 5 star experience
Staff, massage, bed all good.
Food poor. First meal, lunch on terrace ordered ceasar salad, chicken undercooked, very little dressing, no pancetta. Removed from bill. Adequate and acceptable. Second meal evening, coronation crab starter excellent but miniscule. Main course cod with mussels (2 wee things) and new potatoes (one small new potato cut in half)! Too many flowers and flavours mashed together. Some may love this “boujey” way of eating but not me. I prefer good quality produce, locally sourced and simply presented. Third meal breakfast. Who can go wrong with breakfast, well it seems you can! Ordered pancakes with fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt but received pancakes so dry we thought they were biscuits, simply inedible. What a shame.
The room was not a junior suite by the normal definition
Much larger property than expected. Extensive spa facilities were amazing
Not much
Absolutely beautiful place. The room was amazing, very clean, and fully equipped with all facilities. Bed and pillows extremely comfortable. Beautiful surroundings. The staff are amazing.
Everything was just perfect
It’s very picturesque and beautiful settings
It’s beautiful but for the price I would have expected the service and facilities to offer more
We enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the staff was nice.
Lovely to look at that’s about it
To expensive for what it is no kids were allowed anywhere so that meant I couldn’t use any the facilities so wasn’t any point booking but no we’re stated this when booking! Very strange food not the best food takes to long to come out and then comes out burnt. However soup of the day is nice. Wasn’t really that Christmassy either
Stayed before
Nothing
Loved it all, the beds were a bit soft but that’s it
Beds too soft.
Красивая территория, отличный СПА. Большой внутренний бассейн с температурой +30 и открытый с подогревом. Также есть джакузи на улице и небольшой открытый бассейн с температурой+ 38. Отличное место для отдыха на природе.
Almost everything. The accommodation and spa are brilliant, everything is just beautiful and relaxed. We enjoyed staying the next day and enjoying the spa before going back.
A bit disappointing not to be able to find a massage availability. Given the price tag I would consider just including the breakfast as part of the package.
Location, spa, breakfast.
Everything! Love, love this place! We had the set meal in the Latymer restaurant. It was expensive but worth it.
There were no net or screening curtains in our room so people could look in. Granted there weren't many people outside but I would have preferred something in addition to the blackout curtains.
Beautiful place
Stunning grounds, lovely rooms, great staff, good spa
Hillfield day menu and terrace weren’t available so we ate from the bar / room service menu for 4 meals - it’s limited and average, at best. A shame because dinner and spa / pool meals were good
Everything
The labels on the items to stop being stealing . Sad that it has to be that way
The spa is the highlight. Staff were brilliant too. Rooms are large.
For the money, the bedrooms are tired and so you have to remember that you are mainly paying for the spa in the cost.
The spa facilities are excellent and the staff are wonderful.
We had two poor experiences with food, one at dinner with under cooked meat and a long delay at breakfast.
Amazing Spa Facilities
Needs a lounge bar, with a relaxed atmosphere
Breakfast was not included in our booking. We paid more with the assumption we had breakfast in our package. We didn't realise going through booking.com meant no package
It was still perfect
Both restaurants
Can’t really comment in such a short stay. Overall no complaints
The extent of the facilities. Different steam, salt, relaxation rooms. Good lunch in the Spa.
I have been to this hotel many times in the past. This was the first time that I have been disappointed. For a start, on the day of check-in, we were unable to access the spa until 4pm! Last year, this was open to us on the morning of the day we were checking in. Further, you only had the use of the Spa until 2pm of the day you check out, which was never the case in the past. Whilst the food in the spa was very good, there is very limited choice now. Further, they no longer offer the lunchtime buffet, which despite being quite expensive, seemed to be a favourite of many people. Was also disappointed that certain parts of the outside spa were unable to use, despite no warning being given at the time of booking. Moving on to dinner, we ate in the main restaurant. We were one of four tables occupied, despite this always usually being quite busy. Both of the steaks we ordered were over-cooked. The table next to us called for the manager to discuss their food as well. Despite offering 4 or five different red wines by the glass, only one was available! All in all, we paid over £200 for dinner and it was nowhere near the quality of every other meal that we had in the same restaurant previously. Really not impressed. All together, with drinks, an overnight has cost me over £1,000. Definitely not value for money anymore! Just when I thought it could not get any worse, breakfast on the morning we were leaving! Very little choice, very tired, no buffett, tabs of butter melting because it had been sitting out too long, no prepared fruit and everything had to be ordered off the menu. In fairness, the breakfast I got in a Holiday Inn was far better. Rather than spend any more money there, we drove to Marks & Spencer in Camberley on the last day for lunch. Decent food, with decent quality. I get the feeling that this hotel has seen its best days.
Food
Excellent facilities,
Over priced fancy food, some more basic food served later aswell would make it perfect
Incredible experience at penny hill
The staff and spa
Cost of food
Staff and facilities were very good. Spa well equipped, spacious and not too busy. Food quality good (although breakfast not value for money).
Looking tired in places. Dents in room door. Scratches on paint in common areas in accommodation block. Took nice but definitely not spacious enough to luxurious enough for the price. No doubt the hotel can get enough people to stay at these prices. Question is, should they be more concerned about value. Not sure their repeat business will be that strong. Enjoyed it, but not going back at that money. 25% over on my view.

Friendliness and helpfulness of staff was top tier. Staff were very attentive and easy to speak to, in particular Tasha, Olga and Sakkain. From arrival I was treated with respect and professionalism. My luggage was taken to my room for me by Tasha which was nice after a long drive. On arrival to the room I did not think it suited my needs so contacted Tasha and asked for a room change. Tasha was on it immediately and came and offered me a free upgrade to a more suitable room. I have a disability and have issues with my mobility, I really wanted to go on the nature path however thought it would be difficult as there was a load of stairs and steep hill to get on it. Olga at reception was so lovely, she held my hands and help me down the stairs on the path and came back for me once I was finished. She even walked me to my room to make sure I was ok. I went to the hillier restaurant and had lunch, the food was ok but I did not fancy anything on the list so asked if I could have a mai tai, omg Sakkain was an angel and made me the best Mai tai I have ever had! It was so good asked him to make me another for my dinner and he did not disappoint! The dinner unfortunately was not the highlight of my stay, I have already given my feedback so will leave it there. The spa was amazing, my massage by a male therapist was so amazing and he was very attentive. The spa facilities was one of the best I've ever been to, the staff was very nice and helpful. The heated hydropool was heavenly! All the rooms with different scents was so refreshing and the relaxation room was lovely. Free fruits and flavoured water was the cherry on top..xx Overall very nice stay.
Dinner
The spa is the best in the region by far.
Poor service - particularly around the pond at lunch time, we waited over an hour for food to discover our order was never registered! This is the second time this has happened to us here. Previously had poor service in the restaurant.
Amazing hotel and spa , food ,outdoor pool. Just perfect, kids love it.
Lovely room but lacking a suitcase stand
Long walk to the room with no porter. Food expensive without quality. Lacking qualified staff. For the price it was £200 per night too much.
The spa facility is very good along with the Michelin food
Stayed in this hotel about 20 years ago, and it hasn't changed since really, the rooms are spacious but tired , we stayed for 2 nights for my wife's birthday which i stated on the booking and at dinner, you'd think a 5 star paying over 1k would pay some attention to that? Also we was checked out on their system after one day and Keys were cancelled so we had to go to reception and sort all that out, no apology or goodwill offered, I asked why the underfloor heating in the bathroom didn't work, was given blank looks and told its still summer? I was underwhelmed and overpaid for what I got. Won't be back. Last time I came car was parked for me, good old fashioned valet parking , asked what happened to that.. some excuse about covid, carried my own cases a long way to my room 5 star? Also no mini bar really?.. is this really a 5 star? I've paid alot less for alot more
Spa and pools area is great but you may need to check, check in times . Rooms are traditional, we up graded to a nice size room with comfy bed and spacious bathroom. Breakfast wasn’t included and was quite pricey. Parking in the car park was easy .
The food was quite good but expensive. The phone in our room didn’t work, so if you needed anything you had to go to reception.
Fantastic, booked through booking.com which doesn’t included breakfast next time will book through pennyhill direct.
We loved it so much that we changed our flights so we could stay longer! Staff are exceptional and facilities are truly splendid!
