Reviewed Sep 6, 2026I provided my own breakfast and self catered. The hosts were very warm and welcoming. I spent my time resting and relaxing in the room I occupied. I also appreciated the ensuite, the underfloor heating making for a very warm house.

Reviewed Jan 15, 2025The host Chris is awesome, the house and the garden beautiful. Chris gives great tips for daytrips and restaurants. Its a real homestay: They are sharing their house with you and you can use the kitchen and other facilities. The rooms are cosy. We felt very welcome and comfortable.
Not really negativ, but you have to know that you have to share the bathroom with some other people. Chris is trying to organize that as good as possible.

Reviewed Jan 15, 2025I went to put My luggage away in the wardrobe and it was full of women's clothing.I also went to use the drawers in Our room and it was full of Ladies underwear! I found this really creepy,We wanted a cuppa after a rest but felt very uncomfortable and did not make it as the Owners were cooking and eating Their dinner in the area. My Daughter also,felt very uncomfortable and We basically where confined to Our rooms as the Owners live full time at the premises and use all the rooms which would make Anyone feel like They are imposing. It was a lot to pay for a bed with zero access to anything else. We travel a lot and have never felt so creeped out!There was no fans or A/C in the rooms either. Entirely unpleasant and very unprofessionally run!

It’s not so much made for tall people though as the mirrors and showerhead are a bit low. So free yoga poses included 😂

Reviewed Dec 27, 2023This was a real gem. The house standing at the base of Mount Tatanaki was stunning. Chris and Steak were the most welcoming and lovely couple and our room was beautiful. We hope to return some day. It's a wildlife haven and we were lucky to see a hare and a hedgehog on the lawn. Breakfast was delicious.

My room looked out onto the water, and the outdoor space was a great spot to sit reading in the sun, before relaxing in the hot tub as the sun went down. Chris and Steak are such lovely people, and we chatted for ages over breakfast. The house and gardens are so beautiful, this was a most relaxing place to stay. Highly recommend!

Chris even supplied some petrol when we were worried we wouldn't make it to the nearest petrol station. On top of that the house is lovely and the views are amazing.

Reviewed Jan 19, 2023What a beautiful house. The welcome was warm with good communication for our arrival. The interior is all decorated to a certain aesthetic which is calm and peaceful and rather luxurious. Our room had the most amazing view which we woke up to over the paddock with horses to the ocean beyond. We were fortunate enough to be the only guests in the house so we were able to treat it much like a home. We ate dinner (brought) on the patio and spent hours wondering around the stunning gardens. Good quality linen and a comfy bed were a bonus.
We were lucky to have the house all to ourselves. So in the morning I could go and make a cup of coffee in the main kitchen in my pajamas. There is nothing provided in the room at all. No kettle, mugs or coffee. Had there been guests, I would have had to dress and interact with others for my morning java. On a personal note - we like bathmats. Stepping out of a bath or shower on to a bare floor is less than our ideal but no bathmats were to be found.

My only complaint/ rather suggestion would be to put locks on the bathroom and toilet doors, change the doorknobs- as very difficult to open bedroom door (double bed room). The shared toilet door needs planing or sanding down at the top, as sticks greatly causing both my partner and I to get trapped in the toilet!

Reviewed Dec 15, 2019Great to visit part of the country that I grew up as a kid. The property was a beautiful setting in the countryside, great to hear birds from my childhood. Nice garden walk and view of the sea and horizon, the huge volcanic bolders scattered throughout the paddocks. Very friendly and easy to connect to the hosts Christine and Steak, a great family feeling about the property. Room and facilities nicely furnished and relaxing place. Overall an excellent place to relax, appreciate, and enjoy the countryside lifestyle.
