Fish & Chips were very good!
WIFI - was extremely poor!
spacious room
lack of ventilation/cooling apart from keeping the windows open which did not feel very safe. the breakfast was nothing special. the pool which is a real plus was badly maintained (mold in the corners everywhere)
lovely room, pool and small but well equipped gym. The beds were comfy, room a very good size. Beautiful old building, well maintained. Quiet room.
Breakfast choice was nice with regards to full British, and very nice sweet treats (croissants and mini pain o chocolate and similar), but the savoury bread and fresh produce options were very limited. Only small packed highly processed cheeses . Uncut small choice of fruit - it is nice that there is fruit at all, but I would have hoped for more fresh and nicely prepared produce for a hotel of this standard and quality. A friendly "good morning" from the staff in the breakfast table would have been lovely too.
The staff did their very best under difficult circumstances. The bed was comfortable. The country setting is appealing in good weather. My room was some distance away and hard to locate but it was quiet.
There was a wedding on. We entered reception to be surrounded by wedding guests holding drinks who could not get into their event. The entry point was full of smokers blocking the doorway. We couldn't be heard so the receptionist took us outside to give us directions to our rooms. He assured us it would quiten down and told us we didn't need to book a table in the restaurant in the evening. The evening came the restaurant was full so we had to drive to town to eat. In the morning breakfast was served in the corridor in order to service wedding guests who were eating separately. It was a works canteen environment. The food was cold and terrible. I complained to David the Manager who promised an e mail with some agreed compensation in a few days. This never appeared.
Beautiful hotel in a lovely spot
Nothing
The staff at this Hotel are exceptional go above and beyond to help
Location, character, friendly staff, excellent breakfast.
Pillows were uncomfortable and needed updating.
This is our second stay at this quaint country house hotel. While not particularly close to where we need to be, the commute is worth it to stay in a cosy, friendly establishment. The room was a good size for what we needed and the bed was large and very comfortable. We particularly appreciate that this hotel still has a bath as well as a shower for guests. Lots of storage room and a security safe and sufficient electrical outlets/plugs. On this occasion we had a room with a terrace which suited us very well as we were able to enjoy evenings outside on the table and chairs provided. We made use of the pool facilities in the spa this visit and thoroughly enjoyed those amenities.
The surface of the car park has not improved since our stay last year. The many potholes are significant and difficult to drive in a car with a low chassis such as we have. The addition of some gravel and some levelling up would quickly remedy the issues and make the area much tidier and easier to navigate. I am always disappointed when a hotel does not provide more than a basic kettle and instant coffee in the room. Despite there being an option to purchase barista coffee when the bar is open, I would expect a 4 star hotel to provide a basic pod style coffee machine or coffee bags with a drip machine for complimentary coffee in the rooms.
Food at dinner was great and bed was comfortable. Lovely staff.
Tables were very sticky in dining room. Breakfast not so great with overcooked bacon and terrible coffee. Shower didn’t work.
Scenic location and relaxing ambience
Pool overall was pretty dated. The changing rooms could really be updated. Our room also had a few spiders and spider webs
Great location for what we were doing the following day .
Very tired especially the swimming pool area . Just needs completely updating without loosing its character.
Parking available but in poor condition
Dated and needs refurbishing. Pool area very shabby and very small change rooms.
The staff go above and beyond to serve you.
The toilet in our room was dirty - not cleaned or flushed. Cobwebs and spider in the corner by the bed.
Relaxing period property liked the style of the room. Friendly staff in restaurant. Food was good large potions Bar comfortable
Pot holes on drive Reception staff was unfriendly and we were over charged for our meal - got immediate refund but no apology. Spa needs ungraded
very dated and not clean .
Very helpful staff especially Jess and lovely room and gardens
Lovely old building with lots of character. Friendly efficient staff. Excellent dinner and good buffet breakfast, quality ingredients. Room comfortable and had everything we neded.
No view from room. Room very dark in the night and light switches not conveniently located so difficult to find when we wanted to use the bathroom.
It’s a beautiful property and the room was great.
The property is beautiful and authentic, offering a different and charming experience. The staff were very nice, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. We really enjoyed the Roman pool and the jacuzzi, and the breakfast was good. The décor gives the place a lot of character and an authentic atmosphere. The golf course and surrounding greenery were also lovely, with plenty of sunshine and peaceful green spaces.
The main downside was the comfort of the beds. The double bed was actually made up of two single mattresses, so it wasn’t as comfortable as we expected. Our daughter was staying in our room, and a foldable bed was provided for her, but unfortunately it was very uncomfortable. The mattress was extremely thin, and she could feel the metal frame underneath, so she ended up sleeping with us. We also found the restaurant a little overpriced considering the quality of the food.
Lovely food and great service in the oak room restaurant
Half drunk can of water left in room 36 when we entered
Dining room was delightful in the original hall building. All staff were friendly & helpful and there was good service at breakfast. leisure facilities were good.
Some maintenance issues in bedroom (bedside lights not working) & room wasn’t suitable as claimed for an extra child bed - it was a fold up type bed rather than a sofa bed & very uncomfortable. Pool area / changing rooms needed a deep clean & flooring was loose beside pool which was hazardous. no shower beside pool - had to return to changing rooms between pool / steam room.
Everything!
Lots of character in the hotel
Not many staff during the day All the rooms (we were told ) had baths only None suitable for disabled. We got the option of going down in the lift to use swimming pool area showers
Beautiful hotel and grounds absolutely stunning. The queen room was perfect nice and quiet. We booked dinner at the restaurant and it was amazing.Breakfast absolutely delicious and the staff at the hotel are an absolute credit to the hotel
Very friendly waitress for breakfast and the food was varied and good.
Our particular room was right next to a spasmodically busy road. There were times when it was quite noisy. We hadn't realised this would be the case when we booked. If one were staying in the Hall itself this wouldn't be a problem. We were in more modern accommodation to one side of the hall.
Location was ideal for where we were visiting
We were extremely disappointed with the quality of our stay. The hotel room was not clean, with cobwebs visible in most corners. We were also told that the room would have a kettle and tea/coffee-making facilities, but these were not provided when we arrived. A kettle was later provided, but we had to go to reception ourselves to collect it, rather than it being brought to the room as we would have expected. The pool facilities were particularly disappointing and concerning. The water was freezing cold, and there were broken and potentially dangerous tiles around the pool area. This was especially worrying as we were staying with our toddler. We also tried to eat at the hotel restaurant but were told that it was too busy, meaning we were unable to dine there. This was very inconvenient, particularly when staying with a young child. Unfortunately, the general atmosphere and level of service were also disappointing. The staff did not appear particularly happy or welcoming, and on several occasions they did not seem willing or keen to help. Overall, the experience fell well below the standard we expected. Had we known about the condition and quality of the hotel, its facilities and the level of service before booking, we would not have chosen to stay here, especially with our toddler
Lovely location & setting. The rooms were huge with everything you need, including an iron and ironing board which was great. The shower had excellent water pressure & couldn’t fault the room or the stay. The hotel has a pool which is great, opens early which was brilliant with a 4 year old child who wanted an early swim (opened at 7am on Sunday). The breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had & the overall stay was excellent value for money.
Pool facilities were a little tired and needed some TLC and the outdoor seating for the bar could be better especially as we had great weather for our stay
Good facilities nice pool area
Run down in places and dated decor
Beautiful property in lovely grounds. Staff friendly and helpful and restaurant great.
The staff exceptional never change this it’s your charm
Tired but who cares when staff exceptional 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The rooms were very generous
The property was tired but can’t fault the staff total exception, could not do enough for you , I prefer customer service above everything these staff went above and beyond 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Beautiful location, lovely staff, food very nice .
Very dated , no air conditioning which is understandable due to age but you would expect fans available which even a premier inn supply .
The grounds were lovely and the staff were wonderful. The room was spacious enough. We really enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The food in the restaurant was delicious.
The bedrooms weren't very sound proof.
An utterly charming, relaxing and beautiful place to be. Not ostentatious; just really nicely done. Great pool and a very usable gym. Lovely staff and atmospheric restaurant. Spacious room that was easy to relax in.
A few bits haven't been refurbished yet, like the changing rooms in the spa. But as long as you're not looking for (or prepared to pay for) shiny new everything in place of authentic charm it won't spoil your stay.
Breakfast was wonderful and plenty of it. But it was the wedding break that topped everything it was like a proper gourmet meal. Absolutely wonderful
Rooms not so hot, but the weather we are having can't be helped. Might I suggest just a top sheet on beds as the duvets were too thick and warm
Swimming pool but was a bit cold
Was a bit noisy beds was uncomfortable and doors loud shutting
Good value for money and food in the restaurant was lovely.
Our room was a bit dated.
The room was spacious and had very good shower facilities in the bathroom with plenty of water pressure. The morning breakfast service was top notch, served in a calm relaxed atmosphere setting you up for the day ahead
A small minor point was that the extractor fan in the bathroom of the room during our visit was slightly noisy, a bit of an irritant if the bathroom was used at night.
Tolle Ambiente, komfortable Zimmer, leckeres Frühstück, gemütliches Abendessen in der Bar
Kleiner Kühlschrank fehlt
The beds were really comfy. You have everything you need in your room And 1 girl in particular was amazing with my little girl
There was nothing to dislike. I think maybe if someone is there with a small child a bit of help with food to the table at breakfast would be well received but that's just an added bonus if it would happen
Stayed for 3 nights whilst on a business trip. Great setting with leisure complex and a par 3 golf course. Rooms are good, staff very attentive and would stay again
My favourite place to stay; peaceful, nice pool, very relaxing.
Nothing, all good.
Lovely food, both the evening meal and breakfast in the Oak room were very good. Good size room and bathroom . Comfy pillows Nice location.
The swimming pool area needs updating and a good clean. The room generally could have been cleaner. There were 3 of us , 2 adults and a child, however only towels and mugs for 2. Service in the restaurant in the evening was disappointing given the standard of hotel Ordered wine ,had to ask for a wine bucket. Requested water with ice , given water in a pint glass. All other tables were given a jug of iced water.
Great hotel and a lovely place to stay. I would have given 5 stars if it was not for the hair that was left in the shower as it was not propoerly cleaned. The staff were great especially in the morning and the breakfast was amazing. I would say probably the best I have had I should have had more, but I need to watch my waistline. I would recommend a visit here if you happen to be down this way.
Breakfast was very good
Rooms need updating. The room we had was looking out onto some kind of industrial unit.
Great location and good apartment. Clean and great hosts 😊The pool was lovely and clean and a short walk to the beach.
Large family meal. Had use of private room for the whole afternoon and evening. Staff couldn't do enough for our party.
The choice at breakfast is very good. Plant milks were available on request and coffee was lovely. The staff serving breakfast were friendly. The location and grounds are beautiful.
The hotel in general is in need of TLC. The draws in room had broken handles and the luggage rack was broken. The swimming pool needs renovation as there was flaking paint on the columns. The changing room was very small with showers which have a large step up not suitable for clients with disabilities. The receptionist was not friendly and gave us no details about time of breakfast or where it is served. Literally handed us the room key cards with no welcoming information.
Very pretty grounds, clean and good facilities.
Spa was dated but still quant.
The breakfast was amazing! Staff were lovely and the facilities (swimming pool, steam room and jacuzzi) were superb. We were there on a weekday so had the pool almost completely to ourselves.
Nothing
Tribute evening. 3 course meal + show = £45. Don't like mozzarella, asked for a second bread toll. Treated like a begger! Terrible attitude from waitress. £45 from a 4 star hotel that can not give you a bread roll....well won't come again!
Have stayed many times at nailcote with my partner amazing place, lovely staff, the food great and the peacefulness when your away to relax for the weekend is spectacular the facilities are wonderful especially the pool and sauna. I am staying again in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to it🙂
Just want to say had an amazing stay. What a lovely friendly place , the staff go above and beyond. The hotel is a very warm and cozy place to stay. A hiden little charm can not believe it was built in the 15th century. A wonderful piece of history.
Celine is amazing! She works so hard, is always smiling and makes everyone feel welcome. She is a real credit to the hotel and helped make our stay extra special. Thank you, Celine! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
we had a wonderful 4 night stay, 5 adults + 3 children, excellent breakfast and food, great location, very professional and friendly staff. excellent value for money😀👍☀️
So disappointing with this day the whole Hotel needs a refurbishment but the rooms are just shockingly dirty. We had a Maintenance issue with the sink not emptying we reported it. We were just told that yes that sometimes happens if we look underneath the basin we should be able find a plug to empty it because they get stuck I think that’s a maintenance job not ours. the shower was absolutely disgusting hairs, mould, everywhere. The carpets are absolutely filthy. health and safety really need to have a look into the Hotel corridor doors and fire doors are beingpropped open by can bottles the grounds have got bottles left on tables which had not be collected from the night before the staff in the restaurant are so understaffed they are running round trying to do everything management need to take a hard look at the whole hotel, especially the staffing issues and Cleanliness issues
Setting, lovely corner room (11) & pool. Friendliest staff I’ve encountered in a hotel but not particularly effective
Menu and quality of food at breakfast and in the bar was very poor for a hotel of this calibre. It’s an events hotel so the noise and chaos is dreadful. On our third night there was a huge prom and a tribute night. We were told we’d have a quiet room and not part of either - we weren’t & there was no apology. Also, golfers seem more important than hotel guests. Pool & changing rooms need some tlc
Lovely staff everyone was so friendly, pool was great everywhere was clean, restaurant food was excellent.
No fan in the room, on a baking hot weekend sleeping was very uncomfortable. Hotel felt slightly tired and dated.
Friendly receptionist, bed, comfy, air con working, good shower.
The beefeater across the carpark had no chef, our cooked breakfast was changed to continental, it was ok though. No option to get an evening meal, we had to drive elsewhere. The pillow protectors were very stained, they were sticking out the pillow case so I couldn't help but see them
Loved the size of my room ,and it was on the ground floor with good acess to the garden for my dog. My room was spotless. And my room professionaly serviced daily Great reception staff ,i was helped to my room with my luggage, this was brilliant as I had my dog with me. I was very impressed with the breakfast Menu ,good alternatives to a full English. Like omelettes and fish, great to see fish on the menu ,i enjoyed it every moring. Friendly good professional staff. Can't fault the breakfast service it was excellent. Really enjoyed using the swimming pool as the weather was so hot . Great size pool. Good size car parking.
The changing room for the pool could do with a deep clean,it would be nice to smell like it had been cleaned.
the garden was lovely and a nice place to sit in.
Unfortunately the room housekeeping was not up to the standard I would have expected. Bathroom had large dead spider in for the entire stay. Dirty coffee cup in room when arrived. did not replenish water. Could not use bath as plug did not hold wa ter, shower could not turn on. Breakfast on the first day was a shambles.
Quiet, except for the Prom which went on toll midnight
£7.25 for a pint of beer ☹️ outrageous
Parkeerplaats en rustige omgeving
Lovely hotel. Big room. Food was fantastic in the restaurant.
Amazing meal great service Amazing room
Parking good Signage to and from room poor, felt like we were in a maze Spa area desperately needs a total refurb, worst I have ever seen Room good, bathroom good BUT shower terrible, very low pressure and temperature control that did not work. Would not stay here again, sorry
Beautiful location, great pool area and the staff were exceptional especially Gabriel in the main bar. What a wonderful young man, so polite, hospitable and welcoming.
Good breakfast with friendly service
Friendly staff, easy check in and spacious comfortable room
Only really used it to get ready for a work function and then sleep so nothing I disliked.
The Cherry suite in the old Tudor house is soooo cute. The bed was very comfortable. The grounds, using the old moat are very pretty.
Beautiful character property in a lovely setting
Nothing
Accomodation ok
Swimming pool disapointing
Comfy bed if a little small. Very helpful staff and an excellent birthday afternoon tea in a courtyard. Nice setting.
Rooms a little warm as no air conditioning. The hotel has lots of facilities but it’s somewhat retro in terms of decor and is a little frayed around the edges but that adds to its charm.
Nice hotel environment with friendly staff.
Cleanliness wasn’t the best in the room, there was some mould in the bathroom that is easily removed. Breakfast was poor. Mushrooms watery, tomato tasteless, cheap beans, I left the sausage it was so bad. Bacon and toast were fine. I told the property weeks ago that my daughter is coeliac and vegan. She had no cereal option and could only eat mushroom, tomato and beans. Not good enough when she paid as much as anyone else. There was a wedding and the staff were overstretched which meant a long wait for food and drinks.
The friendly staff made the whole experience just about tolerable, bless ‘em…
Would you love the chance to return to Tudor times via the early 90s? Do your nasal hairs quiver at the prospect of whiffing stale cigarettes from the same period? Then you’re in for a treat at Nailcote (or Nail in the Coffin) Hall. Bask in the underground mould experiment which doubles as a spa, which rumour has it Pzizer are snapping up for rare strains of virus not yet unleashed on humanity. Dine in style but wear wipe clean overalls in the Tudor-cum-disco restaurant, where tables come pre-sticky so spilling a few things won’t matter at all. The Ritz it ain’t, but for a ton a night, the decor provided some much needed trauma release, so guess it saved on a few therapy sessions…
We stayed at Nailscote hall on our way back to South Wales from North Norfolk. This was on the hottest week of the year, upon arrival we were treated with a very miserable receptionist, who didn't have any answers for us when giving her questions. The room was average and well used but also very very hot, so we asked for a Fan... They have us a heater with a "cold air" option which was pushing air out like a wheezing dog... This was absolutely shocking. We had an 18month year old with us also who had to sleep in a cot with a wooden floor... "We don't provide bedding" which means we had to improvise using what we could to make a mattress for our child to sleep on. When asking the receptionist for an actual fan again after leaving the original heater that pushes out no air at all, I was greatest with a firm no! For a hotel which only has 4 air conditioning rooms throughout the whole building they would have looked ahead of the weather knowing there was an imminent heat wave and actually bought some proper fans for the rooms. This stay has been absolutely terrible for us as a family. The food was overpriced and bang average too. All in all the service and the lack on thinking by the staff has made this a very miserable experience for us all.
Good facility , excellent staff, excellent food
Staff- food-rooms
The location was good and the staff were very friendly.
The lack of air conditioning, I was put in a room next to the wedding marquee and I wasn’t in the wedding party. Spent the whole night having to listen to the music as if the speaker was in my room.
Countryside location. Comfortable bed.
Potholes in the driveway and car park. Although our room was quiet (as asked ), it was a long walk and 2 flights of stairs from the main house. We stayed 3 nights and there was a good buffet breakfast for 2 days with pleasant staff but the other day was a very rushed, badly cooked and slightly aggressive waitress served breakfast. The bar area was very busy on the event nights which we were not attending.
Staff were fab. Great family of 23 gatheing. We will be back.
Toliet flush problem. Old building
Unique, as clean as can be for period property
No easy link to pool, had to go outside from main hotel. Bar is in odd spot if wanting to sit outside. Over priced drinks
The beds were comfortable and it was nice that there were two chairs in the room.I asked for a accessible room which we had there was a small terrace outside our room with outside chairs and table which we used. The staff were all nice and friendly.
I had requested a accessible quite room, the room was on the ground floor with a bathroom that had a low level sink and bars to assist with getting in the shower which was over a quite high bath.,not ideal if you have mobility problems. As far as a quite room was concerned our room faced the back of a marquee that was used for events and on the Saturday it had a band playing until 1am. We were aware of the event and had informed the hotel that we were not attending this. Breakfast on Saturday was served and over cooked,on Sunday it was a buffet style and much nicer.Overale the hotel was O.K but more questions needed to be asked when booking.
The location is beautiful, rooms were clean and the shower was great. Food in the evening was lovely and so was the breakfast. The cat onsite was friendly too.
The 'bar' man when we arrived didn't acknowledge us standing at the bar for at least 10 minutes. There was only 1 other person in the bar at the time. He took a very long time making their cocktail, but couldn't even give us a smile or say, I'll be with you shortly. I thought this was very rude.
The location and food. Staff were great.
The property was not very clean. Especially our room: the carpet / bathroom floor had lots of crumbs / hairs. There were two iron burn marks On the carpet in the bedroom. There were marks and stains on the bedding. Cobwebs and spiders everywhere. The toilet seat was stained yellow and the toilet brush had dry toilet paper all over it. Very very disappointing.
Nice location intern country
A little tired and dated decor carpets a little marked I. Places.
Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly.
Bathroom needed more detailed attention from the cleaning staff.
Charming building nested in a golf course.
While the outside has certainly some charme, the inside could benefit from freshening up. Our room was musty.
It was nice and quiet.the cooked breakfast was good
The room was disappointing compared to the photos. The menu was disappointing as very basic and overpriced for what it was
Out in the country
Nothing
Helpful staff. Nice breakfast. Swimming pool was the perfect temperature - not cold! Didn't seem busy or overcrowded.
Didn't realise there's a 'nightclub' at the property with events on both nights we stayed, but staff helped with the noise issue and overall didn't really impact on us other than getting off to sleep. Some bits are a little tired maybe and would benefit from a paint touch up but it was clean and tidy. There's not a huge amount of parking, especially on a weekend where a few more people go to just play golf and can't seem to park sensibly.
Great location good value. Best of all the staff they were great always.
Needs money spent on updating
Breakfast ordered to our room the night before was nice. Ground and outside areas were well maintained.
Felt slightly dated inside. For example the guestbook in the room was peeling and needed replacing. Also the tech/digital facilities were basic and WiFi wasn’t great.
Beautiful surroundings. Quiet rooms. Fantastic food in the evening. Beautiful dining room. Lovely jacuzzi and pool. Piano Bar. Dog friendly. Gym.
Excessive amount of duck faeces on the golf court. No outside bins. Breakfast to expensive for what was available. Very poor choice available. Massive potholes the drive and carpark, very deep and very wide. The room key card was not working on a daily basis and a trip to reception was necessary a few times per day to get it sorted. No hooks in the bathroom. Neglected outside planters. Reception/main entry not sign posted/difficult to find.
Good location, bed was comfy and room was spacious. Pool is alright and gym was clean.
No hot water, weird set up for breakfast the staff in the morning were a little rude and very loud.
Enjoyed everything. Went to party and room was lovely. Bed was comfortable and very quiet. Breakfast was very fast and food was good. All staff were lovely and welcoming. Spa was also good. Would stay again.
Great location with staff who were very attentive. Food was great and for our family occasion was perfect. Having a swimming pool was a bonus too. Members of our party enjoyed the golf even in the rain, Special call out to the dining room staff who were personal and obviously enjoy being part of the hotel team.
Had a lovely stay here. Clean room and good facilities - definitely recommend a trip to the pool and leisure centre. We had a lovely balcony to sit out on in the sunshine. Staff were amazing, incredibly welcoming and helpful! Couldn't fault them. Food was great as well and a testament to the chefs! Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to come to the area.
Great friendly staff
