Every thing is a 10 service the place food every thing will visit again very nice staff.
Clean All inclusive
Nothing
First of all, the peace of the resort, the gardens, the trees, the birdsong, everything was wonderful, I loved it, words can't describe it. The breakfast was good, but the lunch and dinner options were marvelous, all the dishes were wonderfully delicious.
There's just one thing, the gym needs new equipment.
We recently stayed at Sugar Cane Hotel and Spa in Barbados. The setting itself is absolutely beautiful, the view over the garden/jungle is stunning, and seeing monkeys from your balcony is truly special.
Unfortunately, the service experience was very inconsistent. Staff were either very friendly or extremely unfriendly, there was no middle ground. The woman at reception, in particular, was shockingly unhelpful and unfriendly. We have honestly never experienced anything like it. Rooms and towels are not cleaned or refreshed daily, and when we asked for clean towels, we were told we would have to pay extra, which is quite surprising. A very concerning issue occurred when our toilet overflowed during the night, leaving the bathroom floor completely flooded. There was no one available to assist, neither during the night nor early in the morning. While security is present on-site, they are unable or not allowed to help. This raises serious concerns about guest safety, as in case of an emergency, it seems there is no one available to provide immediate assistance.
Mostly everything about the place, especially how proactive the staff are!
The bathroom could have been cleaner and more pleasant to the smell upon checking in. They should have better linens available to capture the excess water which easily escapes the shower stalls during showers.
Breakfast omelette was good, staff were friendly, place was clean
Expensive for what it is, even though discounted and for one night room only
All meals were well prepared and timely "Compliments to the Chefs". The servers were mostly pleasant. Our room was kept clean and our belongings were secure. The pool was salt water, cleaned daily. The front desk was prompt to phone us for any information we needed. Shuttle service was free drivers pleasant. They took care of me when I wasn't well coming from the glass bottom boat. Mr Martin was our captain and boy did he give us the experience of a lifetime telling a bit about historical events and buildings near the beaches; we swam with a beautiful turtle "which I got to touch". The the scene was perfect even though I got seasick shortly after. My husband was very impressed with the ambiance of the premises and the landscaping. The Management and staff really paid attention to detail and we sure hope to visit again. A huge "THANK YOU" to all. From a Trinidadian and Guyanese couple.
A male bar tender at the poolside didn't like being addressed as "kind sir" when I asked for a beverage and was sure to let me know his name and pointed out his name tag. I called him by name after and he said "That's much better!" In front of my husband. I couldn't understand what was my offense and chose to leave it alone since I wasn't going to let that spoil my honeymoon.
The breakfast was outstanding and we had good service at breakfast by Ryan

Serenity. Quality of the food.
Mattress was way too soft, got a backache.
Extremely tasty…went back for seconds
Breakfast was great! The spa was 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
The maintenance of the facility , the bloody window was falling apart
The setting was lovely, with monkeys and gulley walk
Hotel is in transition and it shows. Doesn't quite know what it wants to be. The quality of the food would need to improve dramatically to warrant the prices on the menus. Friendliness and helpfulness of staff was very much hit and miss. Had high hopes after several stays in sister hotel in St Lucia. Unfortunately Sugar Canr left me somewhat cold.
Friendly, welcoming small hotel with good facilities and a tranquil atmosphere
I liked how peaceful and low key the property was. Staff were fantastic - special shoutout to Rohan, Sharon & Gregory!
Entertainment wise there could be a little more.
Breakfast was good, the property is beautiful, the gully tour was enjoyable
No microwave in room, angle of tv in room was a little bit weird
Amazing place filled with awesome staff! We will be back!!
Relaxing and serene.
The room was wonderful. The AC didn't work well but we left the balcony door open and opened the windows and it made for a pretty good breeze. The food was not good at all. The best thing was a shrimp Alfredo that we had one day for lunch. The staff was ok. Most of them walked around with scowls on their faces but there were a few that made up for that. Gregory was very pleasant and helpful. Shevika at the front desk was wonderful and very helpful as well. Leo went out of his way to say hello every time she saw us. Rohan and Jocelyn in the restaurant/bar were very friendly. I will say though that we had a medical emergency while there and they were all very helpful with that. Even Charles the security guard that we never met went out of his way to assist. The food was not good, the pool closes at 6pm, and the pool bar was only opened 1 of the 6 days we were there. Otherwise, I would recommend this location.
We loved everything about this hotel
Very nice place love it!!!
Truly a slice of paradise! The serene and tranquil environment made it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring restful nights, and the food was both delicious and abundant — every meal was a treat. The staff were warm and welcoming, adding to the overall relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. I’m already looking forward to returning in the future!
Food was great. Staff was attentive. Room was very clean. Would visit again.
Resort was lovely.
Kareen and staff were super nice and made our anniversary one to remember. Definitely a great time
The hotel wasn’t bad but I was very disappointed in the all inclusive package. When thinking about all inclusive you think all you can eat and all you drink but unfortunately for us that was not the case. The meal portions are very small and every time we would ask for something extra we were denied. You could not have anything you wanted to eat or snack on through the day only at certain hours. When bringing it up with the staff we were advised that all inclusive does not mean that to them. So over all the all inclusive is worthless here and I would not go back or recommend this hotel to anyone. I spend so much money to relax and eat and instead ended up hungry half the time and paying for extra food on the outside when you can supposedly eat all you want at your all inclusive is not something that is right that is just more expense when supposedly you already had food sorted out. And the worst part is that all the staff started being rude once you complain about this issue and it was never resolved.
Staff was lovely
Fantastic hotel. Looking forward to going back again
Disappointed & Misleading Advertising This resort did not match the photos or descriptions advertised. We paid extra for an “ocean view” room, but the property doesn’t have any real ocean views. They also claim easy beach access, but it's actually a not-so-safe walk, and while they offer a shuttle, it only runs once an hour. When questioned about the ocean view, they stated over the years the trees have grown just enjoy the oxygen. The location is also quite far—about an hour from town, which made getting around difficult. While the staff were friendly and tried their best, they kept saying they couldn’t make any decisions and that everything was up to a manager who was never on duty. On the plus side, the food was great. However, the "all-inclusive" offering was limited to just one restaurant.
I loved the classic traditional Caribbean atmosphere at the property. The gardens are gorgeous. The one bedroom suite was spacious with a full kitchen. The second floor private balcony was wonderful as you were able to enjoy the Caribbean breeze during the day and night. The pool area was a great spot to enjoy drinks and improve your coloring. The spa treatment was fantastic and comforting. The shuttle service was very convenient and allows you to use the transport station to catch island buses to explore other parishes, sites, or beaches. If you want to just relax and chill, then you will enjoy Sugar Club.
The air conditioner needed to work better. I was thankful for the Caribbean breezes.
Staff including those driving the shuttle and front desk ( to book a trip for us!) went above and beyond. Whilst it is a small hotel they moved dinner regularly to change things up and had free trips to go on. Lovely peaceful hotel away from the centre. Wake up early and see the monkeys going back to the gully!
The hotel needs some love as it is tired in places. A few extra times for the shuttle bus would be good but the service was greatly appreciated.
Its an adult hotel with very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Very serene ,clean with frendly staff.
Amongst all the great food, drinks and amenities, the staff really elevated our experience. They are so kind, friendly and accommodating, the conversations with them was great.
We had a wonderful stay at Sugar Cane Club! The food at both restaurants was delicious, and I especially looked forward to dessert daily (gaining 4 lbs, but totally worth it!). The lush, mature greenery made the grounds feel serene and well-maintained. A highlight was the hidden hike we found below the swings on the way to Chattel Restaurant—a great little adventure. We also enjoyed live music on BBQ night and the guitarist at lunch, which added charm since the hotel doesn’t offer much entertainment. That wasn’t an issue for us, as we had a car and simply enjoyed each other’s company. The resort attracts an older crowd, so if you’re looking for excitement, this may not be the place. However, if you love beautiful surroundings, spacious colonial-style rooms, friendly staff (big thanks to Juliette for going above and beyond!), delicious food, and a peaceful, romantic atmosphere, it’s perfect. Our only issue was paying extra for an ocean-view room but being placed near the kitchen, so we could hear the preparations of every meal and the clanking of utensils and the tree coverage blocked the view because we were only on the second floor. Luckily, we were moved to a higher-floor room on night two, which we absolutely loved. Overall, Sugar Cane Club is a fantastic choice for couples seeking a relaxing, intimate escape in a breathtaking setting!
Great staff great food great pool lovely place to stay in speightstown
Really enjoyed our relaxing stay. The hotel and grounds are superb. Great food and drink. The suites are spacious and well maintained. Perfect for a relaxed holiday.
Without a hire car the property is a little remote. The shuttle service to the beach and Speightstown is excellent but we felt a couple of extra shuttles to access the bus services to elsewhere on Barbados throughout the day and especially a later service would make the service more complete.
Hotel was lovely. With only 54 rooms. Appartment was super big and spacious. Food was outstanding. Most nights its table service. Which beats buffet hands down. Gardens were well kept and very pretty. A couple of small negitives..... The staff were sometimes very difficult during meal times. And it often seemed that they couldnt really be bothered. And much preferred to chat amongst themselves. This was just sometimes. Also the room where you got your breakfast in the morning was tired. For a 4 star hotel i was quite shocked. It was old and worn out. But with a make over. It would be fine. So just a few little tweeks here and there. You had to get a cab if you wanted to go anywhere. And you could not walk down to the beach as the road isnt great. No paths for pedestrians. The hotel supplied a shuttle bus to the beach and took just a couple of minutes to reach. And what a lovely beach it was. Overall a lovely little hotel. But it definately caters for the more mature person. I think younger folk would get bored. The evening singers are definately singing to the older generation.
* Unlike other guests we were happy with the location BUT we did have a hire car. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of any major town was for us a bonus as we enjoy peace and quiet. * The grounds are immaculately kept and the early morning visit from a troupe of monkeys added to it being special. *The facilities within our garden view apartment enabled us to store food for breakfast etc and cook food if we wanted to
*We stayed here on a room only basis, from the onset we felt we were treated like second class citizens. Staff appeared uninterested from the moment we checked in until we left a week later. Very few of the staff were friendly or approachable, although admittedly we were not in constant contact with them unlike the majority of other guests who were there on an all inclusive basis. *Our garden view apartment overlooked a small patch of green grass but not exactly the garden, should probably be marketed as partial garden view *Inside the apartment the two settees were very uncomfortable. more like conservatory furniture and there were no windows that you could open so the only air coming in was through the glass doors. This gave us a problem with the rear bathroom in that with no air flow it attracted more than its fair share of mosquitoes. * Finally because of the lack of interest shown by the staff we had no knowledge of any of the evening activities so taking part in the Saturday evening BBQ, for example, with entertainment wasn't given to us as an option. Whoever manages this place needs to think about how much additional income could be generated from room only guests if they had the option to take part and pay for these type of evenings.
As soon as I got here Karene at the front desk was amazing (please get her a mouse and keyboard for her carpal tunnel). Also staff such as Ricardo (gave me a lighter as I had broken mine in the sea and also always on hand to provide), Christina and Jameka were all amazing and helpful and made me feel like I was at home. What an amazing experience for a solo traveller. The hotel itself is beautiful and tucked away for a great quiet stay. Christina is also genuinely amazing and a great member of staff :)
Beautiful setting. Room spacious & clean. Facilities great & staff were really friendly & helpful.
Enjoyed staying there for a few days - so peaceful and beautiful surroundings but taxi or shuttle needed to get anywhere.
Lovely hotel. The furnishings are traditional old plantation house style. It’s set in a fantastic peaceful location, with beautiful tropical gardens. The staff were so smiley and friendly that it was a pleasure to speak to them. We enjoyed the food and it came with a great range of options. We shall be back 🥰
Nothing.
Location is very quiet ideal to get away from it all though can be a bit isolating. There is a shuttle bus from the hotel to the beach (Haywards) and to Speightstown. When I had an issue with my room, it was dealt with quickly
It was assumed that I was not a guest but a local when I enquired about booking for dinner. The receptionist was very apologetic but it put me out a bit
Excellent hotel. We were made to feel very welcome. The staff were all so friendly and attentive and went out of their way to help with anything we needed, including booking car hire for us. The shuttle into town and the beach and the complementary boat tour were lovely little touches. We will return.
Sugar Cane Club is perfect for a pampered carefree break in the hills just above Speightstown at the top of the platinum coast. It’s quiet and relaxing, the beach is 5 mins away by free shuttle bus. Thoroughly recommend.
Beautiful gardens , kept immaculately
Distance from beach although there is a shuttle
Specifically was interested in riding bikes. The bicycles were in poor condition, very rusty, one had to be returned due to "no brakes", the other, the chain kept falling off. Couldn't really ride more than 5-6 mph becuase the bike kept sifting gears. very disappointing
When we arrived mid-afternoon at Sugar Cane Club, the lobby was full of suitcases and fully dressed folks sleeping on the sofas. I guess these were post-checkout guests waiting for the night flights home, but it wasn't a very appealing sight. The front desk seemed disorganized, but after a short delay we were checked in and shown to our room. Room (401) was a large suite with a comfortable bed but otherwise dated and not very comfortable couch and chairs. A refresh is definitely in order. Also, room 401 is close to the breakfast kitchen, so there is noise (audible from the bed) from that. I imagine other rooms might be more desirable. Sugar Cane Club has a nicely maintained pool and lawn area, with an adequate number of not-very-comfortable loungers. Most folks lounging about appeared to be Brits, enjoying themselves on package tours. So they were limited to arranged trips off the premises (like the shuttle to the beach or to town). We had a car and could escape, e.g., to eat elsewhere. Which we found essential because the one dinner we ate on site (a so-called Caribbean buffet) was awful (although the live singer was excellent). Breakfasts are good if you want fresh eggs (cooked to order), but buffet items like oatmeal and yogurt are not very appetizing. The line for the ultra-slow 4-slice toaster can get quite long. We wanted to stay in Speightstown as a base to see the north, and SCC met our needs. Not great, but certainly OK for what we wanted.
The pool area was lovely
The music blaring out round the pool. Leaf blowers going etc. Hardly relaxing. Aqua aerobic music competing with the other music. The accommodation was tired, dark and scruffy. We only stayed one night, so we weren't too bothered. I would have been upset if there for a week.
Good selection of foods. Could have done with more fresh fruit choice although there was always something.
See above
What I found most unique about my experience here were the monkeys hopping around in the early morning. I liked that they provided a shuttle to the beach and town. They also offered different excursions on different days. We enjoyed the clear bottom boat and snorkeling tour. Some of the staff were friendly towards us but some were not.
Lovely accommodation in a one bed apartment with garden views and pool. Very, very quiet hillside location with trees and landscaping.there is a shuttle into town during the day, but nighttime it's a taxi. The breakfast was nice. Very welcoming and helpful reception.
We had booked one night due to traveling they have a clunky system for guests who are not all inclusive.
We loved this resort, with the beautiful surroundings and friendly staff. The food was delicious and convenient.
The hotel grounds were lovely and the food at all meals was excellent. However, the majority of staff had a poor attitude and overall service was poor. Our room was in need of refurbishment, especially the bathroom, where we needed to call out maintenance on three occasions in six days. The hotel was quite isolated with no where nearby, although the free shuttle service was fairly frequent during the day.
What a fantastic place! Everyone was so lovely, and helpful, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and fell in love with Barbados. Our room was huge and comfortable, with a lovely view of the sea. The food was delicious, and there was plenty of variety. We alos enjoyed our trips to the beach in the hotel shuttle, it is stunning. We wish we'd booked for 2 weeks, and were so sad to leave. Would return in a heartbeat.
Warmish welcome with cold towels on arrival. Check in was smooth. Restaurant was OK with semi-friendly staff with occasional smiles. Food was average. OK for precruise stay but quite far from the cruise terminal. Fair value for money
Nice hotel, definitely recommend the all inclusive package. Good place to visit for a couple of days of hotel time to chill
Beautiful property was especially pleased with how helpful the front desk workers were and how clean the rooms were. All workers were very kind
Barbecue food one night for dinner
Over booked and given a different room to what I booked
Hotel is set in beautiful well kept grounds. Staff are friendly and attentive, rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard. Good breakfast daily meals generally good, with excellent table service even if food service is a little slow. Pool area is lovely and pool bar service good with a good choice of drinks available. Only issue was water temperature in room could’ve been warmer and more pressure to shower, this was also noted by housekeeping. Would stay again and recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful relaxing holiday.
The grounds were beautiful but many of the staff were unwelcoming and rude. Michelle on reception was lovely and a young bar staff member but that was it.
The majority of staff were unfriendly and the food was very disappointing. Considering it was Christmas no real effort was made to provide Christmas day atmosphere or food.
Wonderful stay.
Good food

Nice hotel, Karene's attention to detail and customer service was what really made the experience great for me.
Breakfast was lovely Room was clean love the our housekeeper Dinner on the other hand was not well pork was cold and flavorless seasoned potatoes was hard
Beautiful grounds and an attractive pool. Our suite was very comfortable. It is worth having an all inclusive tariff as the drinks and meals are very good indeed starting from the welcoming rum punch. There is very much a club atmosphere and many people come back again and again.Facilities are good.
Visitors should be aware that the Sugar Cane Club is inland. Free shuttle busses are laid on but it is not like a beach front resort. It can get very hot by the pool.
Tranquil setting and the monkeys were an added bonus!
It is a lush, peaceful setting. Very private. Very clean. Absolutely, loved the glass bottom boat tour! The spa was an amazing treat. The gym was fully functional. The kitchenette had almost everything we needed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
There wasn't anything we didn't like. There was an evening dress code for dinner and evening entertainment. Pack accordingly.
The food was terrible. The lady that brought the food over to me was so sweet but aside from that the service wasn’t good. The variety of food was not good. I needed to check out early & there was no one to actually check me out. The location is also in a ducked off kind of place. The “ocean view” isn’t really actually ocean view, you are not ocean side. In fact you’re like in the middle of what seems to be open field/residential area.
Sugar cane club review Beautiful views. Extremely clean rooms and well-ordered,with lovely well-maintained gardens. The swimming pool is a little small. It's about 20 mins walk to the beach or there is a shuttle bus which you can book, which runs 4 or so times a day. Staff are quite helpful. The only negatives are the wifi which is unstable and occasionally went out for hours which was frustrating. The other thing is the restaurant doesn't serve traditional Bajan food, which is a shame. And portions are quite small. Overall, a very tranquil and very clean resort.
Pretty disappointed was here for a birthday trip staff was rude and barely gave us any service. We had our dinner messed up and the chef just came out starred at us for 5 minutes with the dirtiest look then he walked away. Im all around very disappointed with the amount of money we spent to be treated that way. Ill definitely never be coming here again. The only thing thats nice is the veiws
Overall the stay was very pleasant. Most of the times staff were kind. We definitely loved the food servings and the amenities at the resort provided for a relaxing stay.
Room could have been more elegantly done and at times staff appeared to be impatient. There was only one night activity during our stay and the resort was far away from most of the attractions in Barbados
Quiet and secluded area, sizeable facility nestled within the lush greenery of Barbados. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of it all, this is a great spot. The ambiance and decor of the area is perfectly tropical. Rooms were comfortable and fully equipped. Went there in the travel off season so the hotel was near empty but all services were still available.
Breakfast service was a little limited in terms of options considering the price. You can go out to the nearby town and get a huge Bajan breakfast for 1/4 the cost.
Amazing service, clean property - best value for the price. The staff accommodated me well during time of hurricane - I was able to extend my stay by a day.
The property is beautiful, the food was perfect. I did not purchase the All inclusive plan since I went out some nights. Although there is no beach, the shuttle runs pretty frequently throughout the day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Absolutely a great getaway, will be visiting again.
We had a wonderful stay for just one night at the Sugar Cane Club Hotel and wish our stay had been longer! The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome for our first night in Barbados. The bed was super comfy too! With a short shuttle ride to Heywood beach, Sugar Cane Club Hotel is a must for this area.
The property was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The free glass bottom boat swimming with the turtle excursion was amazing. Spa treatment was awesome and a must!
Loved the pool, the facilities and the walk in the gully and to be fair breakfast was excellent, proper English served and the fish cutter at lunch qas top notch. Let down by poor evening meal (frozen or very poo cuts of tuna) and some staff members being just off with you, would say even rude. Shame has lots of potential. Bar staff always excellent and accommodating. Overall great value from money on the AI.
I loved the friendliness of the staff (in particular Kim and Roneisha) and lunch options were very good.
I didn't enjoy dinner options especially the buffets. The TV should be in the bedroom.
The staff was WONDERFUL, we were there for a short stay but felt welcomed!! We felt right at home. The hotel was quiet and beautiful. Peaceful!!!
The grounds was clean and I enjoyed the tranquility of the property. Very nature like. The food was 5/5. I recommend doing the all inclusive!
We loved the quiet setting, lush gardens and friendly service at this hotel.
Nothing- this place is great value for money in Barbados!
The arrival to the hotel was magical; I was tired and was offered a drink and a cold towel to refresh my face. The receptionist checked me in quickly. A porter took my luggage to my room which was huge, modern and comfortable. The view of the garden and the ocean was spectacular. Needless to say the all-inclusive option was superb. I ate mainly at the La Salsa Restaurant because it was à la carte rather than an informal buffet like in the Sandy’s Chattel Bar. The food was tasty and drinks were plentiful. The pool is little small but the beach is only a short ride on the hotel's bus. I did visit the spa twice for treatments and left refreshed and happy. The staff are the key to this place always so helpful, chatty and friendly. Afternoon tee is served by the pool if you don't fancy a big lunch. It is easy to hitch a ride with local buses to Bridgetown and it is also a good starting point to attractions at the north of the island. The hotel is in a quiet area of the island with small houses surrounding it which I personally preferred.
Can't think of anything.
Lovely resort with beautiful grounds and good service. Did not choose all-inclusive option as had a well equipped kitchen which helped with the high cost of eating out.
Sugar Cane and Spa was amazing! We took the all inclusive package and the food and drinks were incredible far better than most. It is definitely an older crowd and in a quieter area of the island but that did not bother us and it is not impossible to get around if you feel like exploring . The Hotel offers a free bus shuttle to the secluded and beautiful Heywoods Beach and Speightstown where they stop at a larger bus terminal that can take most places on the island. That being said not much is walkable, but if you’re just looking to unwind for a few days and escape the busier areas Sugar Cane is for you! We did not have a chance to use the spa services but they looked lovely and we really enjoyed the pool and Gully Walk. Amazing resort grounds and awesome staff would go back tomorrow!
Stayed with my husband forcour anniversary. Wonderful place to stay at. I enjoyed the scenery and the quiet. The staff were all super nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend. It is far out from the town but that added to the tranquility
Lovely location in the middle of beautiful grounds and only a short 5 mins drive to Speightstown and the coast. The free hotel minibus runs several times a day to Speightstown and back. The hotel staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful - we arrived very early in the morning and were greeted with cold towels and rum punch and a big smile plus we were given beach towels so we could relax by the pool until the room was ready. Very good full body massage. We had a room with a seaview over the palm trees and enjoyed watching the sunsets from our balcony. Excellent value for money especially compared with the hotels on the West Coast and we would stay there again
