Fourth time to Barbados, first time at Mango Bay had visited for a day when we stayed at their sister hotel Island Inn in 24, we really enjoyed Island Inn but thought we would give Mango Bay a try as it was a higher rating! On arrival we were placed in a condo at the Palm Springs Resort which adjoins the Mango Bay, we said as we were shown the room we were not happy and felt unsafe at the location of this “room” and we would like a room in the main hotel blocks to be told we are at full capacity and there are no other rooms, someone had obviously been given our room as ours had been booked for months, a move was offered for the Monday. The Saturday morning my grandson went to get his trainers to go to the gym and they were missing.Reported to reception, a manager, a security guard and head of housekeeping came over to search the room with my help to look for the trainers including looking in safe. Police were called but trainers were never recovered. We did get a room move into main hotel thankfully and managed to sleep more confidently and felt safer. Avoid a condo room if offered not secure. Shout out to Grafton, Maria, Dayle, Tionne Karon 👌👍 The beach is beautiful, unfortunately sun bed wars have started in Barbados lol, beds are gone by 8.30ish at the beach and they don’t have more to bring out, we did ask, so it was up at 7 to get the beds 👍 The pool beds the same lol think that was maybe due to people having beds at beach and pool rather selfish. The food- most disappointing, the food at Island Inn was spot on, was expecting here to be much better with being a higher rating. The cuts of meat, chicken etc was poor, needing to skim the impurities of the soup, thank goodness for fresh bread and ice cream lol. Drinks were nice and freshly made. Housekeeping in rooms was good 👍 was always done when we went back to room. Thank you to Isabelle for organising a lovely surprise for our wedding anniversary, it was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately we won’t be one of the many returning guest to this hotel because of the issues we had, and I have noticed a few of them saying they won’t be returning regarding the food etc. We made the most of our holiday after the very disappointing start,(never expected anything to be taken from our room)the thought of someone being in room without our permission scared me.
Where do I start? We were recommended to stay here. We weren’t disappointed from the moment we arrived until the day we left we were treated as returning guests, this was our first visit. Every member of staff from management down were brilliant. We booked a sea view room, we were in room 211 it doesn’t get better. The only downside was as an older couple the sea shelf made it difficult to leave the ocean. We made up by using the pool. We never once had a problem getting a beach or pool bed. Yes the hotel is old but clean, air con top class and a hot water shower. Book your lunch and dinner at breakfast and remember gents you need a collar on your shirt but tailored shorts are acceptable. The food is mostly great I’m a fussy one but always found something acceptable. This hotel was so good we’ve booked again for October and can’t wait. Entertainment was good mostly but you are sitting on a beach front hotel what more do you want. We went on a boat trip organised by a guy on the beach again top class. I did a scuba lesson in the pool, I’m hooked and the diving staff were great, give it a go. If I marked this hotel out of 10 it would run to 9.8. If you want to stay in Barbados give Mango Bay a shot I would bet you won’t be disappointed. See you again 12 October
We stayed here for one week. The hotel itself is nice enough. The room was clean however quite dated. Lots of brown decor. The entertainment could be improved such as more interactive guest activities. Some of the staff were quite miserable looking. One person in particular constantly looked annoyed, and there was no positive interaction. I took my son down for breakfast 30 mins before it stopped and she was clearly annoyed about this. I asked for tea, and was given coffee so I politely mentioned this. She said abruptly “you asked for coffee” (I don’t like coffee so why would I ask for it) I wasn’t going to argue over it. That made me feel really uncomfortable having breakfast, so i promptly left. MOST of the staff were nice. I have to give a shout out to Maria who was always lovely and so thoughtful. Also a guy called Xavier. Lovely guy! Our son has autism and most of the staff were very good with him. Bar staff weren’t very sociable and appeared miserable most of the time. The beach was amazing however the activities weren’t well advertised. We enjoyed the food.
The major problem of this hotel is the rudeness of the staff. We were told rude things, ignored, cut off from talking, had eyes rolled at us, etc. Nobody offers to help around this place. Most of the workers should not be in the service industry!! Food selection and taste was absolutely horrible. One night we did not eat anything offered on the menu and waitress had a major attitude problem because we asked if we could see the kids menu or eat something else. The hotel is also very rundown. The outside and inside of the rooms need major work. The air condition leaked all over the floor and we had to put towels down. BUT we only could get two towels a day because they do not have enough towel to accommodate guests. We asked for more and were told they were “drying”. The beach is pretty, but you have to wake up early to reserve chairs. They also do not have enough chairs to accommodate their guest. Was told at 9 o’clock in the morning that we came too late to the beach and could sit by the pool. Also at the beach, they had people selling things which is normal for an island, but these sellers would were incredibly rude when we said we did not want to buy anything. One guy said we were a waste of his time. For water, you do not get the luxury of a plastic bottle or reusable bottle. You have to bring a small open plastic cup to the beach. On the last day the water fountain stopped working. The entertainment that is offered starts late at night and you hear singing while you are trying to sleep. Not sure why this isn’t provided earlier in the day while people are awake or at dinner. I would suggest staying at the new hotel next-door. This was a vacation that made you want to leave and go back home.
Lovely hotel, but sadly the food has gone down majorly. Too many poor standard buffets. Also, by bringing in guests from Island Inn and The Sands because of the problems at both of these hotels!!, impacted our stay with not enough food for lunch on many occasions. We were due to return in September but have now transferred our booking to another hotel on the West Coast. Such a shame because this hotel used to be wonderful but by reducing the quality of the food will reduce the returning guests eventually.
Location
Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. The hotel is extremely outdated and in desperate need of renovations. The rooms and common areas felt worn and did not reflect what we expected. The food was another major letdown. The quality was poor, with very limited variety and very few appetizing options throughout our stay. We often struggled to find meals we actually enjoyed. The evenings were also underwhelming. There was little to no nighttime entertainment, which made the resort feel quiet and lacking in atmosphere once the sun went down. Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations, and I would not choose to stay here again unless significant improvements are made.

This is a nice hotel. The service from the management and restaurant and chefs is very much four star maybe more. The housekeeping and standard rooms are 3 star at most. The location and size of the hotel are lovely. Couldn’t fault it. The beach is amazing and the hotel is such a lovely size. Nothing was too much trouble for the management team. Evey question answered and they could not have been better. The standard rooms are the cheapest and are huge with great AC but they are tired and the bathrooms are very run down. The housekeeping was also hit and miss with many days missing towels and floor not cleaned of sand. But they have over rooms. So they are much better The restaurant is lovely. Both inside and outside seating the it’s all served at a lovely pace. The servers are sweet and funny but not silver service. They will accommodate your requests which is nice and the food was very very high standard. Three choices a day for lunch and dinner. The bar staff work hard. Some are a little less chirpy than others but they will make any drink you ask. The water sports team don’t stop working. From putting out subbed when the hoggers have taken the. All to teaching you to water ski for free. Really nice guys. A lovely touch is the afternoon tea served each day. They did run out of a few things like pizza and some ice creams and of course towels!! But not then end of the world. We had. Birthday when we was there and what they did was magical. They printed little menus for our table that were personalised. Gace us a lovely bottle of champagne and even supplied an amazing birthday cake. They decorated the bedroom too. Really made us smile. So yea I would go back but I would stay in a standard room. Thanks for a lovely week
Mango Bay is a lovely small resort. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. Pool and beach area is beautiful. One night à la carte service was delayed but staff appropriately apologetic and did everything they could to accommodate guests.
Fabulous little boutique hotel in a great location in Holetown set on a beautiful beach with many restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. All staff so friendly and welcoming, couldn’t do enough for us. Great beach front room which was the icing on the cake. Big shout out to Shanize at Reception, Tionne, Julian, Ronald and Anderson, excellent service all round thank you, we will be back….
Good location Friendly and helpful staff
The entertainment - 2 or 3 times a week if you must. Every night - bloody awful Quality of buffet food was very average
Love love love this place. The staff were fabulous respected our request for a low room for my husband. Staff were amazing especially Damien (socks) who is non stop all day! Pool not needed and wasn’t that grand but as I say it doesn’t matter as you are situated straight in the beautiful beach. There is building going on next door but didn’t cause any issues. I hope to return again one day
Quaint hotel , lovely staff , we had a standard room with a beautiful view, sunbeds always available , made some lovely friends , food was not as good as last year but lovely local restaurants to explore , The Mews was a great Find across the road
Impeccable staff, who are welcoming warm and ooze a love for hospitality and their customers. Too many to name as they’re all fantastic!!! The hotel is on the older side, but unlike the negative comments below, let’s call it traditional, loved and lived in! It’s also immaculately clean and cool. The location is truly fabulous, walking distance to bars, restaurants ( from beach shacks to 5 star cuisine) The beautiful beach is kept well, with comfortable sun loungers - all with parasols and the buoys keep you safe in the water if you just want to swim. The drinks are all labelled top shelf brands, the cocktails are not drowned in sugar syrup, and are mixed whilst you wait. The food is great - à la carte dining (so make sure you pack collared tops for men, as this is the rule in low season. High season, is long short/trousers) We left leaving a bit of our hearts behind…ignore the critics, just go, you’ll love it ❤️
First time to Barbados and won’t be the last. I would go back to mango bay in a heatbeat. The staff are amazing and a special shout out to Maxine, Xavier, Dale, Anderson, Julian, Kevin, Ronald(the man for all things to know and fun) and in fairness all the staff work so hard to make everything there work. Hats off to them! Honestly rate them all so highly. Head chef, that man does some amazing food à la carte nights do not disappoint. The ladies and gents that get pulled in for the evening entertainment circuit are great. It’s just generally a great place to unwind, drink, eat and on a Sunday night party! See you guys soon!
The fact that this hotel only has 67 rooms is very much part of its charm. From the day of arrival to the day of departure, all of the staff were friendly and we felt very relaxed. We had a superior room on the ground floor with an undercover terrace. The room was spacious with ample hanging space and drawers, and a lovely shower room. It was cleaned every day and even if you had a siesta, the bed (which was very comfortable) was made up again before you returned to your room in the evening. Little extras such as a hairdryer and a torch were also provided. The dining room consisted of two parts - open air or inside; the food was either buffet or a la carte and whilst the menu was not extensive there was enough choice, usually a fish dish, meat and vegetarian (both traditional food and the usual western fayre was available and not a chip in sight). At lunch time you could also order from a small snack menu which included fries. Branded drinks, if you wanted them, were part of the all-inclusive package. The pool was cleaned every day and whilst not large it was big enough in relation to the size of hotel, and the beautiful white sand and clear Caribbean sea was only a few yards away. There were also plenty of loungers around the pool, in front of the hotel overlooking the sea, or on the beach itself. There are activities throughout the day (such as quizzes and rum tasting) and evening entertainment outside each night (usually solo artists or duets). Mango Bay is close to both First and Second Street where there are a lot of bars, restaurants and clubs. Other reviews had commented on the music and noise from these premises but to be honest we were not bothered by it at all, not even on a Friday or Saturday night. A lot of the guests were repeaters, some had been staying there for 25 - 30 years, and it's easy to see why they return year after year. If you want a big blingy hotel with over the top luxury, then this is not for you, but if you want a charming traditional Bajan hotel with great staff then that's what you'll get.
It’s been 18 years since we last visited Barbados. We used to stay further north near Speightstown and usually visited Holetown during our stay. During our recent visit, we noticed a big difference in the town, so much more developed than we remember. However, Mango Bay is a hidden gem. Lovely relaxing hotel set on a beautiful beach. We enjoyed the beach walks and snorkelling. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Overall the food is good, after 11 nights, maybe a bit repetitive. We had a deluxe room on 4th floor overlooking the lovely pool area. No problem with noise as hotel entertainment generally stopped at 10.30pm. Good variety of evening entertainment. Our only criticism (and it wasn’t a deal breaker) is that we like to sit on the beach late as it cools down, and the staff started to clear away the beds and umbrellas around 4pm each day. Also the large Royalton Hotel next door, which is due to open pretty soon. Such a shame that was allowed to be built and not in keeping with the Caribbean style low rise hotels on this coastline. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip back to Barbados, and many thanks to Mango Bay for making it so enjoyable.
Just back from a week at Mango Bay. We had a good time, overall but we felt the following might be useful to others looking at booking. Plus points Most staff are very friendly, welcoming and go above and beyond. The hotel is spotlessly clean, air con in bedrooms is superb and the beds are very comfortable (if you like a firm mattress). Beautiful clean beach which slopes steeply to the water. People with limited mobility may struggle to climb back up the sand bank though. Great location for Holetown, Chattel Village and Massey supermarket. All a 5 minute walk away. Talking to other guests it became apparent this is a hotel that people return to year after year (some for 40 years!) The guest base is mature, no getting away from that. It doesn't feel like a young person's resort and children would likely be bored as there is nothing for them other than the beach and a few random toys in the pool. It is an all inclusive resort but not a traditional buffet. Lunch and Dinner are generally from a fixed menu via table service with the odd buffet lunch / dinner duting the week. Food quality is fair although in the heat things like soup and lamb stew aren't appetising. As a Coeliac I had no issues eating safely. The catering team really looked after me. There is Wifi available in public areas only but some rooms have boosters so you might get lucky Less than plus points Mango Bay hotel is often described as tired. I'm sorry to say, it is heading towards totally exhausted. Significant investment is required sooner rather than later. The pool has tiles missing, rooms are very worn. Maintenance were constantly painting during our stay, but it's a small plaster on a major wound. Standard rooms in the old block have no lift, the open walkway to them overlooks the hotel maintenance yard which can be noisy when the team are grinding or hammering. This walkway also faces First Street where The One Love bar hosts it's Karaoke street party on Sunday nights. Its very, very loud. Nothing the hotel can do. Take ear plugs. If you pay extra and book a ground floor beach front or pool room you may find that there are other people's sunbeds outside your terrace. When the hotel is full you may find there are insufficient cushions for all the sunbeds and the restaurant becomes overwhelmed. Lunch and Dinner is served in pre booked time slots that have to be chosen at breakfast time. If the hotel is full you may not get the time you want. This was irritating as we found ourselves clock watching to ensure we got off the beach to meet our slot, rather than relaxing. If you have dietary requirements you have to choose your lunch and dinner at breakfast so the kitchen can prepare them. There are only 2 public toilets for each gender, situated up by reception. If you need the toilet whilst by the beach or pool you may be quicker going back to your room. There is also only 1 shower in each of these toilets so anyone staying on after check out (for a late flight) be aware of this if you want to freshen up before you leave. There may be a fight for the shower. We mentioned this on our check out and were told if there were any spare rooms they would be used and time slots allocated. In reality the one spare room was given to 1 family and we had to use the public shower. If youre unlucky enough to get Room 403 the toilet rocks, the patio doors dont shut and there is only 1 free socket so you will need an extension bank from the front desk. TV reception was not great. There is 24/7 construction work going on at The Royalton Vessence Hotel next door, but this is due to open on 1 June 2026. Tips 1. Don't book trips through the hotel, research your own. You will get more choice and much better value. 2. Spend a bit more and don't book standard rooms. 3. If you have to book a standard room, take ear plugs. 4. Take your own insulated drinks bottle if you want water / drinks on the beach. Drinks are served in small plastic cups and its a drag continually going to and from the bar.
I recently visited Barbados in May 2026, and my driver, Tre Dottin, made my trip to Barbados absolutely stress-free and enjoyable. From the moment I was picked up, he was very professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the island. He arrived on time every day, kept the vehicle spotless and comfortable, and shared great recommendations for local beaches, restaurants, and attractions. What stood out most was how safe and relaxed I felt during every ride. Tre, the driver, was patient, courteous, and went above and beyond to make sure I had a wonderful experience. Traveling around Barbados was one of the highlights of my vacation thanks to his excellent service. I would highly recommend Tre's Luxury & On-Demand Transportation Services to anyone visiting the island!
⭐ Guest Review for Mango Bay Hotel My stay at Mango Bay Hotel exceeded every expectation. From arrival to departure, the hospitality was truly 5‑star in every way. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful — they welcome guests like family, and that warmth sets the tone for the entire visit. The rooms are spotless, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The food is excellent, with a mix of à la carte menus and the occasional buffet, all beautifully prepared and full of flavour. There’s always something to enjoy, thanks to the hotel’s daily entertainment — from bus tours and painting sessions to evening music and dancing. The bar offers a great selection of drinks, and there are plenty of loungers and umbrellas whether you prefer the beach or the pool. Although the hotel is located in a busy area, the moment you step inside it feels secluded, calm, and tranquil. It’s a perfect blend of convenience and peaceful escape. I would highly recommend Mango Bay Hotel to anyone looking for exceptional service, great amenities, and a truly memorable stay.
Just returned from mango bay had a wonderful time the staff are all amazing few special ones to name Grafton maxin Maria donnel and Damian looked after us amazingly Thankyou all
We recently stayed at Mango Bay in Barbados for a family holiday in March and we absolutely loved it. The resort is beautiful, with well-appointed rooms that have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The pool and beach areas are both fantastic, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings. What really made our trip special was the incredible staff. We were travelling with a toddler and everyone was so kind, warm, and accommodating. It made a huge difference to our experience. A special mention goes to the restaurant team who made every meal a pleasure: Daniele, Maria, Faith, Kevin, and Rhianna. Damian, the barman, was fun, friendly, and always added great energy to our stay. Overall, it is a wonderful place for a family getaway and would eagerly return
This is a really tough review to write - should I have given it 5 stars, maybe but there are just a few things that it's missing. The hotel is getting tired. I know that's the Barbados charm but it does need some money spending on it. I can understand the owners are probably going to see how the opening of the new Royalton next door affects them but they need to lift their game a little to keep people coming back. The hotel's entrance is lovely - it gives you a feeling of luxury and welcoming and makes you glad you chose Mango Bay. The rooms however are a different story. Ours was tired, the cupboards didn't close properly, the bathroom was quite damp and it generally needed some TLC. We stayed from a Wednesday for 6 nights. We were in the block overlooking 1st street and when we arrived the couple in the room next door to us asked us if we had ear plugs. We looked quizzically at them and then they explained that 1st street gets quite lively Fri/Sat/Sun nights - and oh does it. Some nights we felt as though the bar goers were in our room :) We managed to acquire some melatonin from Massy supermarket which helped with the sleeping. The hotel pool is a nice change from the sea - and maintains the sunshine right until sunset. The beach is lovely and couldn't be easier to get to from the hotel as it's literally in front. Beach and pool loungers are reserved early by people so beware - if you're one of those that likes to chill out and not worry about getting a lounger early you're going to be upset by the towel laying crowd. I don't know why people do it - it's sad really. There were even couples reserving beds at the pool and the beach and alternating their day between the two! Hotel maybe needs to introduce a policy to curb that behavior. We found the food perfectly adequate. Very little variety though if it was a buffet but the occasional a la carte meals were fine. There was one evening that the buffet was 'Mexican' style - which we were quite excited about as we love Mexican food - but it turned out to be the same salad and meat offerings as all of the other buffets we'd eaten at the hotel with the addition of flavoured rice (the Mexican twist). Drinks were prepared with great attention to detail - the bar staff actually knew how to mix cocktails rather than pouring it from a pre-mix bottle. The watersports were all free, ranging from waterskiing to kayaking, to small catamarans. The watersports staff however seemed very unenthralled with their jobs and quite often aloof in their interactions with us. The hotel did lay on entertainment every evening which was nice and the restaurant and bar staff worked really hard to cater for the guests needs. A nice touch to the hotel was a free 2 hour catamaran trip up the coast.
Great location and small and personal. Beach was excellent. Staff were all brilliant
Food was plentiful but not much choice buildings were a little tired
We have stayed many times at Mango Bay, but this may be our last visit. This is not the fault of Mango Bay Hotel, but exterior factors. First the beach has altered. When we first went to Mango Bay, you descended steps to the beach, but because of tides and storms, the beach is now level with the board walk. This means the beach is smaller and you have a very steep descent into the sea and some people may struggle getting out of the sea back onto the sand. Secondly, the new Royalton hotel being built next door. This new hotel is massive. Think of the big hotels you find on the Spanish Costas and then double it. This small bay is already becoming crowded, so where are they going to put all the sun beds? It is a large brutalist building completely out of character with Mango Bay Hotel and the neighbouring Sandpiper. The rooms at Mango Bay are still dated but some have been given a “facelift”. My attitude is, I do not come on holiday to live in my room! Providing the beds are comfortable and they are, and the bathroom has plenty of hot water and it does, and the house keeping is good and it is, then that’s OK for me. My only criticism of the room is that it needs more power points rather than an extension inside the wardrobe. The dining is good, but could have been better. This criticism is based on what seemed to be a staff problem in the kitchen on some nights, so service was sometimes slow and haphazard with some a la carte nights becoming buffet nights. But the quality of the food is good. The highlight of the hotel is its staff. They are always very helpful, very friendly, always wanting to share a joke. They want you to enjoy your holiday. As I said, maybe our last time here. But we are considering one of the other hotels in the Mango Bay group. If the other Mango Bay group hotels run on the same ethos, I’m sure we will have a great time.
Great location Holetown is the place to be with nice shopping centre across the road and a choice of shops restaurants and bars. The hotel was straight onto a lovely beach with snorkelling. Great staff and great service. Nightly entertainment was very good and nice to be able to have a dance. Great hobby room with pool table great beach activities plenty of beds and towels etc.
The hotel is basically tired and needs a refurb e.g every sun longer mattress is grubby and stained as were every seat in the bar and restaurant towels in rooms tatty paintwork in rooms tatty and some of the electrics in rooms look very suspect e.g running a power supply of a light switch to power a four socket extention. Be aware of rooms near the front of the hotel which back onto bars in the adjoining steers the noise is horrendous and went on until 3 am one morning,
Location was very good right in Holetown. Loungers in the beach & pool
There was construction going on next door & the food wasn’t great
Here is my honest review, which has been hard to write: Location is good and beach is fine, but hotel is very tired - mould on ceiling in bathroom, bathroom mirrors need replacing, plug sockets need replacing, furniture has seen better days, beds need updating. Was left many evenings without clean towels (no towels were provided). Many requests for towels which should be automatically provided each day. Brochure said hotel had a spa, but this was closed months ago. Staffing problems are major, and the hotel kept changing a-La-Cart menu to buffet, which was regularly below standard. When you pay for a-La-carte, you expect to be waited on. Several times breakfast, lunch & dinner were delayed due to them “not being ready”, meaning a half hour wait beyond your dedicated time slot. Some mornings, beach staff were late and did not put out sun beds, so guests had to put their own out. A lot of sun beds are falling apart and need replacing - same with the parasols. The beach towels are faded and tatty. Hotel needs a complete renovation - everything is done on a tight budget and it is very noticeable. This should be a 3* hotel and the price should reflect that - paying over £10k, I would expect a higher standard. Was extremely disappointed and would definitely not visit again.
Amazing place lovely people would definitely go back again SUPERB.
We have stayed in 3 hotels this time visiting Barbados , and I can honestly say that Mango Bay was the best , the staff are amazing, the food is excellent and the location is perfect, we had an issue with the air con in our booked standard room , we were switched rooms and upgraded to a deluxe pool view room, nothing was too much trouble, lovely room , recommend picking room 204 , it was quiet, near the lift , spacious and great view. Special mentions to the pool staff , esp Rayden, he was so lovely he even came to say bye and hug us as we left, lovely lovely fella, Damien , he’s the dancer, he’s nuts, so entertaining around the pool serving drinks, and Sabrina in the restaurant, the young receptionist with the hair to one side, VERY bubbly and happy. What a lovely hotel , we hope to return next year !
9 of us stayed at the the mango bay hotel for 9 nights in February and had a amazing time. The hotel is almost hidden away in holetown which was great as location was perfect. The staff were all brilliant and friendly, too many to name but Rayden and Damien and Brittany in the bar were great and Karon and Donell the waitresses were lovely . Definitely would recommend mango bay for couples or families.
This was our 3rd stay at Mango Bay, as per previous stays we were not disappointed. The staff are friendly and accommodating, facilities are clean and easily accessible and the beach is a slice of heaven. Whilst the decor is somewhat dated it does not detract from the enjoyment of the stay. The rooms are a good size and beds are spacious and comfortable. Amenities such as iron and hairdryer are provided. The food has always been well cooked and presented, we had no issue in finding something for our son to eat which can be a challenge. Booking time slots is a streamlined process and saves unnecessary waiting. Safe to say we will remain repeat visitors and are returning in April 26.
Perfect location. We loved our stay at Mango bay and booked again for next year as soon as we got home. Clean rooms lovely staff. Hotel is right on the beach - evening entertainment great !
The Mango Bay is a small but perfectly formed four star hotel with attentive friendly staff, adjacent beach, nice rooms most with sea view making for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Unfortunately, a huge hotel will be completed soon next door and that may spoil things. There are a few interesting trips on barbados but mostly sun worshipping and watersports are the order of the day.
The location is lovely but it just doesn’t feel very all inclusive the restaurant is set menu and portion size for lunch and dinner some of the service is a little lacklustre most of the staff are great but some of them just seem a little rude and the place could use a little renovation I’m not saying the place isn’t lovely there are just a couple of small things that just don’t match up to the expectations set by the term alll inclusive
Don't go for the food ... You fight for a sun bed .. Staff are hot and cold ... some rude , some lovely Cleanliness very good although hotel is very tires and in need of updating
The location was great, however, there is a construction going on next door which is extremely loud and I was not told about this prior to traveling. It woke me up each morning and I wouldn't be happy if I had a sleeping baby.
The staff were horrendous. I'd say there were maybe 3 staff members that were kind but I have never visited a place before with such miserable staff. I appreciate that not everyone loves their job but a little eye contact or a slight smile would suffice. I also hated that I contacted the property 4 times prior to traveling within 12 months of arriving and nobody ever replied. I also contacted booking.com and they did not respond. Luckily I had someone I knew travel there prior to my arrival to make the arrangements I needed otherwise I would have been screwed.
Spent 9 nights at Mango Bay all-inclusive hotel at well over £300 a night. Food was average at best, but uninspired and uninspiring. Sometimes it was poor - especially desserts and pastries. Buffets lacked variety with a token salad bar. Service was haphazard - sometimes good, sometimes absent. Facilities OK - not 4 or 5 star - but there's no seafront free from motor boats and jetskis. Overall, not good value for money.
I love this hotel. The staff are all amazing, very friendly make you feel so welcomed to their island. The beach is gorgeous, food and drink is amazing. Met some great people and made new friends. Can’t wait to come back in 2026.
Beautiful place walk past the pool and the beach oh gosh was beautiful.the friendly staff are just lovely people. Rooms are lovely and big. Our water etc was filled everyday and the snacks. All inclusive lots to choose from. Made some lovely friends. One love bar at the back on a Sunday night is busy loud music and fantastic. Get chatting to the lovely bajan folk.
So a tad old in places and although we had a great room the New Years singer was really loud. We arrived New Year’s Day and was ridiculously tired but she got us out of bed to watch an incredible fireworks display from a neighbouring hotel. Evening meals buffet was superb drinks were flowing but ultimately we started to crash around 21.00🤷🏻 I guess the real question would I return - Yes
For $1000 a night our rooms were not ready until 2 hours after check in and their offered compensation was a one hour late check out, which was worth zero to us because our flight departure was in the morning. Rooms Extremely basic and not worthy of the price.
Lots of returning guests as it’s charmingly beautiful. Clean, very helpful friendly staff, good management and really good 3 course table service lunch and diner. Breakfast from 7:30am and plenty of choice. This is our 4th visit to the place. We are looking already to book in 2026
Other people’s poor reviews? Are they Bulgarian or Chinese due to not liking some foods? The food is top class!
On arrival I was greeted very warmly and offered a very welcome rum punch then promptly shown my room ,nothing was too much trouble and truly made me feel so welcome . My room 207 was lovely extremely clean and had everything, needed and in a good location . Unexpectedly I was invited to attend a welcome return meal with numerous other repeat visitors and was a fabulous start to my holiday ,joined by the lovely and super hard working Issabelle I had a wonderful start to my holiday . All the staff I had the pleasure to meet are so friendly and take time to make you feel welcome ,a special shout out to the following Grafton,Annette and Maria, alli, Tionne, kyle Ronald ,Damien and Rayen ..all in there own way are part of why people love this place and feel at home .The food was lovely with a varied menu to suit all tastes the menu alternating with a la carte and buffet style . Snacks also available during the day and of course afternoon tea! Perfect location, perfect size hotel ,I will 100% be coming back .
This is our 5th visit in 12 years therefore that should explain how nice this place really is. We got married here in 2017 which was an amazing setting for any wedding.
I can’t really think of anything.
The location is excellent, food was very good but the hotel and facilities are very tired as are the sun beds and cushions, we stayed in sea view rooms which were very tired room 212 and 213, the bath was yellow and the enamel was missing from large areas of the bath, we should of rejected the room from day one but we thought could get over not having a bath, it only got worse from this day, after a couple of days we returned to the room and it smelt damp and fusty, we then noticed the bed sheets were damp and there was a serious problem with condensation in the room , the glass tops had water on them and the walls were also wet along with the tiled floor, we then noticed there was a build up of mold around the ceiling arca trave and on the ceiling which had previously been painted over. we reported this and the manager came to the room and said you have to leave your air con all the time which i explained is not good to have air con on permanently , they changed the bed clothes and got house keeping to mop up the condensation and put the air con on full, i showed her the bath and the condition of the seal around it and the missing enamel and asked if she thought was acceptable? she said would deal with it. The hotel food as very good but 75% of the staff were miserable and at times very rude, i have been to Barbados 6 times and this is by far the worst experience i have had of the Caribbean, my advise if you want to go to this resort is avoid sea view rooms 212 and 213 as when asked the cleaning staff they said these rooms always smelt of damp so they are fully aware of the situation. At no Point did we get an apology for the condition of our rooms.
We are regular visitors to this hotel and we can always say that our stay has been wonderful, I personally emailed them about my dietary requirements and they were very accommodating with it, also since we last visited the hotel there has been alot of updates on the rooms, the bar area and they've even changed the sunloungers ,they've even changed the way the tables are dressed for eating at each meal which is lovely to see, it was really nice to see old friends and and make some new ones ( staff) , my husband has always been a bit of a fussy eater and he tried almost everything on the menu at julians restaurant so thank you for that, it was nice to go back after such a long time and we hope to be back there again in the near future, we feel like mango bay is our second home even if we don't get there very often because the staff have always made us feel really welcome.
2 families here together (4 adults, 2 kids). Loved it. Lots of other similar families with kids, all playing together in the pool and so close to the beach. Loved the drinks in the bucket next to the beach to help yourself and the free water sports and boat. Buffet / Al la carte alternates between lunch and dinner each day with big effort to make sure the food isn’t repeated. Memorable staff such as Annette and Maria who were always cheery and happy and Rayden who brings drink round while your sun bathing. Music / entertainment every night. Great games room for the kids and all the people there were absolutely lovey. Great with kids. Can go off to different places easy or do nothing at all. No Prosecco included apart from a Friday or Saturday night at sunset. If I could make any recommendations I would say staff can some times roll their eyes when you ask for a complicated drink/ or won’t switch the blender on until 10am for a milkshake even though it’s only 4 minutes until the start time. Ice cream is frozen solid and needs to soften for 20 mins before the can serve it. Also BBQ is very slow, probably needs more staff. Despite a few niggles and maybe a few updates needed, we absolutely loved it and will be back next year without a doubt.
Just returned from a 9 night stay at Mango Bay and would like to express my thanks to all the staff for their outstanding, friendly service. In particular Karon, Grafton, Maria, Ally, Xavier, Sabrina, Annette and Donelle in the restaurant, Isabelle the yoga teacher and the wacky dancing barman with odd socks (Damian?). Jacky the cleaner kept our room spotless every day. The service is a real highlight of the hotel . The food was very good , varied and well peesented. The beautiful beach front setting has the most comfortable sunbeds and the ever changing blue hues of the bay are mesmerising. We also thoroughly enjoyed the free glass bottom boat trip with as much complimentary rum punch as you could drink- a great way to start the weekend! The nightly evening entertainment was first class, especially Nicole Best and Eon. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a small, very friendly, beach front hotel in Barbados.
Exceeded expectation! Absolutely stunning place to stay! Location was perfect! Staff were so lovely and helpful ☺️ the room was so clean and luxurious, felt so homely. The food…what can I say…:just WOW! Thank you Mango Bay so much for having us, see you again next year!
Disappointing experience was expecting 4 + star plus but definitely no more than 3 star . Resort tired and disorganised . Bar area very small with inadequate seating for guests , bar service inconsistent with more staff during the day and less at night when more busy. Premium drinks are available but only a small selection, no fizz . Guests are expected to sit outside with the nightmare mosquito situation on hard seats with no cushions and no bar service. If there has been a down pour tables and chairs are left wet. Tables are left cluttered with glasses and bottles and are rarely cleaned away . Night time entertainment was particularly good , but enjoyment was offset by uncomfortable seating and with sun beds and mattresses stacked to the side in direct eye line. Rooms are spacious and clean but look tired with marked furniture . Food is overall quite poor and definitely not the standard you would expect from a 4 + star rating. Mostly served at the table with occasional buffet. A repeated menu with a lot of chicken , there are snack options, but a lack of communication as to where and when you can access snacks. Limited choice on buffet with bare essentials for salads, meats and bread options . Food is obviously served with a tight budget in mind. Tinned ham is served as a meat option! Plates and bowls are in short supply leaving guests waiting, only to find the waiter has brought only two to replenish the pile! Milk was often placed in cartons instead of jugs at breakfast and display cabinets for bagels and a cereal dispenser was broken with no turning handle. Serving staff although pleasant, lacked direction by senior staff and stand around doing nothing while guests are left wanting. We had a power cut whilst waiting for lunch and although this could not be foreseen , staff were unprepared with no plan B . We were left waiting for over 2 hours whilst staff didn’t know what to do, not even offering a sandwich for lunch . Beach service was ok with a flag system , plenty of sun beds available and beach towels . However , sun bed mattresses were left stacked up outside in the rain. Beach attendants would not allow you to take them when wet, but how were they supposed to dry in a pile in the shade….madness. I will not be visiting this resort again, I feel there was no attention to detail and no real consideration to the aesthetics of the resort or the comfort of the guests , so much more could have been done to improve this with more insight.
A wonderful hotel on the beach with a great pool And the most amazing staff and food! We are going back next year because we had such a wonderful time
Booked for a Pool View Room, was offered a Room facing a wall and trees (see first picture), had to complain, call hotels.com, and wait for 2h to get a proper Pool View Room (second picture) Same issue next day at the restaurant, was proposed a terrible table by the road, furthest possible from the beach, asked for a beach table as there were 3 available, had to insist 3 times as the staff were complaining these tables were not ready, in the end took them 2mins to get them ready…
I'm a disabled veteran that enjoys a drama free environment. This is my second time staying at Mango Bay and the staff is unbelievable! They are friendly, polite, and pay attention to detail! I will always recommend this location to friends and family.
Only giving this 3 Stars as not only is there building work next door almost non-stop with machines, diggers, concrete mixers, drills, jack hammers, grinders and a crane operating between 0600 and 1900 but Mango Bay itself was undertaking modifications to many rooms to add to the noise and dust. 12th time to Barbados but first time here, great location with plenty of places to walk too. Food, got to be honest was very average and evening meals were not great. The choice was limited and most of the time served warm, there is only one restaurant but loads of great restaurants in walking distance. Rooms nice and comfy but a bit dated, probably the reason so many of them were being renovated and we had no hot water for 3 days but did get another room to shower in a bit like walking to a shower block on a camp site as it was two floors down and had to take our toiletries with us. Beach and snorkelling amazing, with good walking routes both left and right out of the hotel. Staff, 99% amazing but always get those couple who let the side down. Bar had good service but only 2 different rums, really !! and did shut down a little early !! Can't comment on the pool as never went in it. Gym small and compact but had running machines so I was happy. Probably would go back but not sure what impact the great big hotel next door will do to the place when it's open re noise and amount of people on the beautiful quiet beach, it will be interesting to see what people write on here once it is open.
The staff was welcoming and very friendly and attentive. We had a great week and lots of relaxing. Variety of options for activities and not having to think about your food or drinks was a good option for us. Would definitely recommend them!
We’ve just returned from a 12 night stay and it was idyllic. A beautiful hotel set in lovely gardens in a remarkable beachside spot creating spectacular views from morning to sunset. The bar, restaurant and entertainment area have the beach view so it’s a very relaxing environment. Our room was wonderful: a deluxe, ground floor, pool view, through the patio doors to an additional large open fronted covered area, with loungers and privacy voile curtains (if required) and then down a couple of steps to another area with some more loungers for the room which were poolside. This meant that there were lots of options dependent on mood or weather. The room was bright and spacious with a very generous sized bathroom, relaxing décor and housekeeping were fantastic. Slept very well. Staff – Extremely high levels of customer service consistent across the full range of staff. Professional, positive, approachable and friendly – everyone is going the extra mile to make your holiday special. I was left smiling after ever interaction. Thank you also for helping us celebrate our wedding anniversary in such a lovely way and the warm congratulations from different members of staff. The staff really are exceptional. Gym – air conditioned with free weights, cardio equipment, multi gym, mats etc for a good workout. I would go each morning, then do my stretches on the deck area which was beachside to enjoy the view. Restaurant – Lots of choice and the staff add to the atmosphere and will try and accommodate “off menu” requests (I couldn’t resist my daily fish cakes with hot pepper sauce). The Sunday afternoon pianist was a lovely surprise. Entertainment – the Saxophonist, steel drummer, I’m not completely sure of the vocalists names: Leah, mother and daughter duo - Shakira and Selena and another male duo brought Caribbean vibes so you could end your day laughing and dancing. Most were happy to take requests. Shops and restaurants – few minutes walk. If you like an early morning stroll when it is cooler to take in the views, walk towards the right of the beach and after about 7 minutes you will get to a coastal path .… gorgeous outlook. I would highly recommend the hotel and can understand why so many people return…… beautiful place….. This was our first visit but we will be back.... hopefully for longer next time.
This hotel never disappoints , with its great service , lovely food , amazing beaches and overall chilled vibes. Again must thank all the staff for making this holiday, with a special mention to Maria, Sabrina, Trisha, Grafton, Donell, Xavier, Kevin, Petra, Ryan, Dale, Ronald, Maxine, Sherylynn, Anderson and Da-Maria, not forgetting all the watersport boys for all their help .... and to extra special mention to Kyle, Damien and Rayden, who helped us stay horizontal for most of the holiday and waited on us every day of our stay. Great people , great holiday. Look forward to coming back soon
Location ideal, 20 mins from Bridgetown. Advise take the reggae bus for an experience. Not a big hotel and AI. Entertainment in evening they bring in local people. We had a sea view which was lovely and room was very spacious for two of us. Do some exertions. We did Oistins on a Friday night amazing atmosphere. We also did an island tour called What a Life with Tropical Concierge Solutions. Tour of island in bus for 3 hours stopping at various coast lines and then to Carlyle Beach to relax and get to swim with turtles. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, for the above.
Just got back yesterday from a10 day holiday all inclusive, we had a great time, all the staff were fantastic, food was amazing, weather superb, room was great. Truly a wonderful experience, definitely on our want to go back list Thanks Mango Bay.
The staff was simply amazing. The facility is showing its age, but still well kept and the staff works very hard to keep it clean. A very private and queit place to relax. Not a booming party place...look elsewhere for that. Not a complaint, it was a welcome relief!
My third time to Barbados, but my kids third so wanted to choose the right hotel for them to get maximum enjoyment and MB didn't disappoint. We stayed for 10 days and from minute one, we felt at home. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, so friendly and helpful, especially Faith and Donell, who got on brilliantly with my boys. Rooms were generous, bathroom was a nice size and all clean. Only one restaurant but don't let that put you off, the food was very nice, with multiple choice available every day. A lovely small hotel, so doesn't feel overcrowded and even though there is a new hotel being built next door, this doesn't really affect the ambience during the day (although they do start work early!). Free watersports is a plus, and the beach and sea is excellent, as you would expect from the west coast. I will be visiting again.
First the good...Food and drinks excellent. Beach is beautiful and convenient. The waiters on beach are great and i like the flag system they use for service. Bad...took me a day and a half to get a beach towel. Not told about activities or even how to get to our room. No map to help navigate the resort, not that it is big but it would have been helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. All in all good stay.
I had a fairly low opinion of all inclusive holidays but Mango any has changed all that for me. The food drinks and service were outstanding and as good as I’ve had anywhere on the island at 5 star resorts Shinaya the chef is amazing
My
Great location, on the beach, fantastic staff!
A little dated, but very traditional Barbados beach front hotel.
Mango Bay is an excellent resort that caters to the individual who wants to relax and enjoy the beach. Outstanding accommodations with a superb staff. We had a great time! Will book again
Just home from a wonderful 12 day stay in Mango Bay. Our first stay in Barbados and what a way to do it. Lovely friendly hotel. The room we were given was nice and spacious for my wife, I and our daughter. The beach is gorgeous, we visited a few different ones around the island and thought we were definitely spoilt with the location of the Hotel. Beautiful sandy beach, clear calm waters. Plenty of food options in the restaurant which was regularly al le carte for lunch and dinner, which we liked. Made meal times feel more of an occasion. Food was always varied of a good quality and well cooked. Easy bar food was available too for those who wanted to stay by the pool. The bar too was well stocked with named brands with a good cocktail list that the bar staff would happily pour liberally to order. We visited with our daughter and from the moment we arrived the staff were incredible with her, made her feel like a celebrity. Whilst all staff were fab particularly loved Shemar, Damien, Rayden and Ronald around the bar and Donnel, Sabrina and Cly-ann in the restaurant. Celebrated my birthday during our stay and again all staff on the day went the extra mile to make it special. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Bed and sheets was very comfortable, and food was excellent
Friendly staff, quite good food, nice beach, a great escape in the winter months. Not much more to say but look out for Damian the dancing waiter
The food was great but could have included a few more local dishes. The bed was cery compatible
Just home from our second visit to mango bay. We loved it last year so decided to return. This year was even better Great welcome in reception with a rum punch and quickly checked in. We had a fab room by the pool the same one as the year before. Our room was always cleaned well and we even had a bottle of bubbly and card waiting for us. We were well looked after by all the fantastic staff. There are too many to mention but big thank you to Damien Rayden Anderson and Ronald at the bar and the lovely girls at the restaurant particularly Maxine who always made us smile. The water sports boys were fab and looked after us too thank you Sham!! Breakfast buffet is good and they make a fab fresh omelette! We enjoy the a la carte menu at lunch and dinner always delicious and the choice is good. There did seem to be more buffets this year than last year which we were not so keen on as food would run out sometimes if you were a later booking. We would prefer less of these. The lunch menu from the bar is also very good to have between 12-4 Drinks were great so much choice and every cocktail you can think of. Water sports included and there were trips you could take with the hotel and a few activities during the day. Evening entertainment was varied with singers etc which were pretty good. Some nights were quiet. The addition of the pool table in the games room was a big hit with the teens this year!! We met friends from last year and made many new ones. Overall a perfect holiday. Will we be back? Oh yes can’t wait to return.
Staff was friendly but inconsistent. The front desk staff (Noel) that greeted us failed to mention all the activities that were provided on the resort resulting in me and my mom missing out on several activities bored to death all day in the resort. The food too was not consistently good. Food was mid at best. We went around the corner many nights for Chinese Food. Beware of the singing frogs at night, if you are one who us usually bothered by noise, you will be annoyed. I would recommend this resort if you are 60 years and old and just want to relax. It is NOT a turn up, music blasting, twerking resort. If you want peace and quiet, mediocre food, outdated rooms (plumbing sucks), and far from everything, then this resort is perfect for you. I may go back in 20-30 years.
We went to Barbados somewhat out of season but still more pleasant and warmer than the UK! We wanted to stay in Holetown and had chosen to stay at Mango Bay after reading previous feedback and we also like to stay at hotels with All Inclusive for convenience when on holiday but will still eat and drink elsewhere whilst away. We arrived on a Saturday and were welcomed with a cold towel and refreshing cocktail and best of all a very pleasing fast and efficient check-in which included a brief tour of the hotel and amenities. We had taken advice from past reviews and had paid for a room upgrade to a beach view room and this was the right decision. Our room was ground floor sea view literally facing the beach about 30m from the sea, we had a veranda outside the room on which the beach guys had a pair of wicker sunbeds with comfortable/quality cushions ready for us each morning. The room was comfortable and spacious and kept cool with good air con, The bed was spacious and very comfortable and the room was kept spotlessly clean by the excellent and attentive housekeeping team, who it seemed checked on the room several times a day, ensuring clean towels, fresh supplies of tea, coffee and biscuits and a regularly restocked fridge of cold drinks and water. They also provided the nightly turn down service and they also provided a mosquito zapper and bottled water on ice.on the Sunday night, once I'd dressed appropriately (you have to wear a shirt with a collar for every evening meal and long trousers on "a la carte" evenings such as Sunday). I can't say that changing into trousers and a shirt straight off an 8 hour flight is ideal but on the flip side it is kind of nice that everyone dresses up for meals. The down-side of arriving on Sunday is that the Standard rooms back onto a street with a karaoke bar which stays open til about 3:30am blaring out music which you simply can't block out even with earplugs, so it's not the nicest way to spend your first night when you're knackered and just want to go to sleep. Thankfully it's only on a Sunday night! The bar has a good selection of drinks, all known brands such as Gordon's gin, Johnnie Walker whisky, Disaronno and so on - even the red and white wines and lager are drinkable! There is also a selection of cocktails (beware they add syrup to them all) but they ran out of Pina Colada on the first day and didn't get any back in til the following Thursday which is a bummer if that's your cocktail of choice. The bar staff just keep providing whatever you ask for, as well as wandering around the pool periodically asking if you want drinks and handing out chilled face-towels. The food choice is ok but not great, it alternates between "a la carte" lunch and buffet dinner, then buffet lunch and "a la carte" dinner - the choices are mainly chicken, pork and fish although we did also have lamb shanks and roast beef on two nights. They also have a bbq night once a week so you can have your chicken barbequed instead of having it baked! What it's missing is a salad bar where you can create your own salad (they usually have at least one pre-made salad on offer but it often contains some weird ingredients), fresh fruit at lunch and dinner, nicer breadbuns (theirs seem to contain sugar) - and shellfish. We love prawns and other shellfish but the only appeared once on the menu in a fortnight. On the plus side you can always ask the chef to make something different, and every time we asked for something different we got it (didn't try asking for steak or lobster though lol). There are about 14 wooden sunbeds around the pool and 20 or so plastic ones on decking by the beach (all of which are thickly padded) and a virtually unlimited supply of unpadded plastic ones for the beach. Getting a sunbed by the pool isn't easy - 14 sunbeds don't divide between 150+ guests - and they have a "no towel reservation" policy - but the pool opens at 6am so you just have to sneak down and grab what you can and then go back to bed! The sunbeds on the decking get a lot of flies buzzing around but if that doesn't bother you then it's a great area to sit in - again provided that you are early enough to get one. Otherwise you're on the beach (which is lovely if you like beaches, just avoid the pushy guys trying to sell you Aloe Vera and carved coconut shells). You also get free use of the water activity equipment such as canoes, pedallo, one-person catamaran etc, and you can also book in for the free weekly glass-bottomed boat trip and catamaran trip to see the turtles. There are a lot of positives about the Mango Bay
We have had a wonderful relaxing 10 days at Mango Bay and are already wanting a return visit. Before arriving we were a little concerned about some of the negative reviews but can confirm there is nothing negative! The staff are simply amazing, all welcoming and make the stay a fun and relaxed one. A special call out to Rayden, Damien, Andersen kept us fuelled with the most amazing cocktails and drinks - always with a smile and laugh. The food is a wonderful mix of buffet and Al la carte plus the relaxed beach menu. There are snacks and afternoon tea on offer so we were never hungry. Yes we visited a few local restaurants which were amazing. So a nice mix. Calma Bay and Zacchios are great to visit and a nice walk away. The beach is stunning, offering great water activities and chill time and some truly beautiful sunsets. The evening entertainment was mostly chilled singes who were all very good. Our teenage boys - 13 and 20 have loved every movement and we all feel it has been one of our best holidays ever! Yes there is a hotel been built next door - never bothered us at all and to be honest you soon forget about it! So ignore all the negative comments and visit Mango Bay - it’s a really wonderful place!!
The property was well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful.
My family and I were staying at the sister hotel, The Sands, and decided to try Mango Bay for the day. It did not disappoint. We took a bus from The Sands to Mango Bay and it was about 45 minutes but it was a nice bus ride! We got to speak to some locals on the way. The bus is only 3.5 Baijan dollars, so $1.75 American. When we got to Mango Bay we weren’t sure what to expect, but I thought it would be a big hotel, as it looked bigger in the pictures. The reception area was so quiet and the ladies were very welcoming. They gave us towel cards to use for the beach! It looked like a nice area to lounge in after dinner. The furniture is modern and pretty. The one pool was big and surrounded by luscious palm trees and greenery! The bar was so close by so we left the kids in the pool and went to order drinks. We got the Mango special which was beyond delicious and my kids had chocolate milkshakes which they loved too. The beach …. Wow! The water was crystal clear! The only thing I would prefer in a beach would for it to be more shallow at the shoreline. It’s deep as soon as you step in! There is a rope though so I was not worried about my kids swimming too far out. My kids who are 7 and 9 said this was their favourite beach … even better than Carlisle Bay! Lunch time was interesting. We sat in the restaurant and were greeted so piously. However, the food was just mediocre. I ordered a warm crab bowl which was not very good at all. My kids did enjoy their chicken fingers and fries and my husband said his pasta and chicken were just ok. There were alot of people just eating from the snack bar too. Dessert was banana splits which The Sands never offered so my kids were ecstatic about that! Believe me when I say none of us wanted to leave that beach!!! When we come back to Barbados I would come to Mango Bay just for those pristine waters
I had the most amazing birthday at Mango Bay on July 12th! From the warm breakfast welcome from Melisa & Doneil to the smooth check-in with Noel-Ann, the service was top-notch. Ronald, Damien, Dale, Keurwyn & Tionne kept the drinks and good vibes flowing at the bar, while Sabrina served a delicious lunch with a smile. Special thanks to Cara — an absolute gem who made the day feel extra special. Can’t wait to return!
Mango bay hotel is smaller than i was expecting, we had to wait a few hours for our room because it wasnt ready, we had a brief tour. The rooms are a good size for 2 but a little dated, our room looked like it had a fresh coat of paint on the walls. we started on the 3rd floor with ocean view for a little over a week, next to the bathroom is a storage cupboard which leaked water from the room above so had to move my clothes, followed up by a couple days later a water marked stain on the ceiling had some light cracks around it which started to also leak water, a couple of complaints later and a few hours we got moved to a new room on the ground floor, which was alright but!! was the closest room to the bar / restaurant / entertainment and a walk way to everyones rooms, if you wanted and early night, not possible. an all inclusive restaurant with a set menu for lunch and dinner with only a couple of options for starter / main, sometimes there was buffet. standard breakfast options. the food was alright, some good, some not so, some really good, some tinned tuna on salad. Location is perfect, right on the beach, 2 min walk to limegrove shopping centre with shops and restaurants, mini market just at the back, better gym just beyond that called level up, if you like to work out while your away this is a perfct option. There's taxi;s everywhere or the reggae buses, no need to wait at a bus stop they stop everywhere if you put your arm out and sometimes if you dont lol. There's a bigger supermarket 5mins walk down the road with pharmacy, (citronella vasaline, mozi spray) should you need it, mozzys can be a nighmare for some. plenty of watersports on the beach and through the hotel. I would reccommend :salt and sea scuba diving - based at the hotel just behind where you get your towls, karina will look after you, Mark the shark for glass bottom boat, swimming with turtles and wreck snorkling - you get more time swimming than if you go through the hotel, he uses fernando to get customers (a good guy) if your on the beach he will find you, do not worry. For sea fishing i went with Marvin sobers, very good Theres a few good restaurants around if you want to sample local cuisine from low budget to high budget depending on your preference : the cliff, tides, fusion rooftop, the bearded rose, just grilling. facebook pages : barbados for travellers and travellers to barbados most of this stuff you can find on there. barbados $ and us $ is excepted you can take both, if you use barbados $ sometimes your change might be in us$ ust depends rum distillarys also worth a trip all these tour guides will give you plenty of info about the island, where your going, what your seeing. if you have any questions get in touch, il do my best to answer them.
Hello to all at Mango Bay! Sorry for the late review but the post holiday blues hit us hard when we got home and it’s taken two weeks to recover from the shock of having to cook our own meals and not being able to see you all and the beautiful blue ocean every day!!!Absolutely everyone at Mango Bay knows how to look after their guests so well and the best part is that they also know how to have fun with you too! Thank you to Nikolai, Ryan, Donnell (thank you for all the milkshakes!), Damien, Rayden and Abena as well as everyone else at Mango Bay, you’re all exceptional and if we haven’t named you here it’s only because we have a bad memory for names, as you all deserve a mention for sure! The brilliant Jerry on water sports taught our daughter to waterski, she was so happy, his teaching and patience is amazing. The food at the hotel was delicious with so many flexible options, al a carte, snack menu and sometimes a beach bbq. Our rooms were kept spotless by the cheery and helpful housekeeping team too. In the evenings, the entertainment was very good, especially Mark on Monday evening. Outside of the hotel, we had a fun and informative tour of the island with Scott from Williams Tours and a great day at Hunte’s Gardens with Kate from A+ Tours. If you want to see the turtles, we recommend finding Fernando on the beach, who is so friendly and represents Mark The Shark’s boat tour, they really are turtle whisperers and ensure that everyone sees the turtles but treats them with the respect they deserve! Wish we were still there but we’ll be back in two years for another special celebration, please promise you’ll all still be there! :) Chris, Claire, Jessica and Adam
We had an amazing week in Mango Bay in July for a family holiday. First impressions were excellent - friendly, professional and efficient staff in the lovely reception area and we were overall very impressed with the hotel. It is designed for you to relax and have an easy, fun, time and is fantastic value for money. Our room overlooking the pool was spacious and perfectly clean with a lovely big and comfy bed, fluffy towels (beach towels also available changed daily), and excellent aircon. Mango Bay is well laid out right on the beach with a great pool with shallow and deeper areas. Everything is clean and well looked after. Plenty of seating areas on the beach, deck and pool. There are helpful staff everywhere if you need help with anything. The hotel is small and has a lovely friendly atmosphere. We ate almost all meals in the restaurant. It's varied and good quality, especially breakfasts and dinners. At lunch you can choose to order from a more casual grill menu or to sit in the restaurant. The service was always very good and the staff are great with the children making sure they find something they like and keeping them entertained. We found the bar service, drinks, snacks, and cocktails perfect and the bar team are incredibly welcoming and attentive. We were really made to feel at home and looked after. In the evening there was music and entertainment which was very good and any noise finished up early enough for a family friendly resort. We were never disturbed by noise from construction or from the street. An enormous benefit of staying at Mango Bay is the watersports - sailboat, paddleboards, kayaks, waterskiing are all included. We had never tried waterskiing before. You can book slots with the team and you are looked after by the very professional, patient and encouraging instructor who is committed to getting you skiing. Again, as with all the hotel staff, he was fantastic with our child who had an amazing experience and wanted to come back every day. Just off the beach (which is beautiful and clean, plenty of beds and shady spots, lovely clear water in the swimming area, and possible to walk in both directions around the cover) are two shallow artificial reefs which are absolutely teeming with fish - it felt like snorkelling in an aquarium, we saw rays, angels, trumpet fish, all manner of colourful tropical fish. It is absolutely amazing and varies with the days and the tides. There is also an area a short walk from the hotel with a diving platform and a marine reserve. The bay is really stunning especially in the early morning and evening. Included in the stay is a trip by boat to swim with turtles which we'd highly recommend. The crew are great fun and everyone had a brilliant time. We also took the evening trip to Oistins with a small group and had a fantastic night with good food and company. We booked a surfing lesson at Dread or Dead on the south coast (the hotel helped us with taxi transfer - efficient, flexible, cheap service) and a local scuba dive in Wreckers in Speightstown which we reached on the yellow bus which are cheap and run along the main road through Holetown for an easy way to get out and about. We'd recommend getting out and seeing different sides to the islands and enjoying the amazing ocean. Also very close to the hotel is a really lovely mall with small coffee shops, bars and cafes. The neighbourhood feels very safe and it's easy to get wherever you need to on foot, there's also an ATM and supermarket one block away. We wouldn't hesitate to book again. We have nothing to fault about Mango Bay. The team do everything they can to give you a brilliant stay - from the bar team literally running to grab you a drink, the breakfast team producing waffles on demand for a picky 11 year old, the watersports team advising on good times to go out, the front desk team checking in regularly to make sure everything is going well. We had such a relaxing time on resort and it was a brilliant base for exploring too.
The staff is amazing, Maxine, Damien and Shondale were great. They went above and beyond with their service.
This hotel clearly has unverified reviews! As experienced travelers we have never walked into a hotel room and quickly picked up our suitcases and went straight to the front desk with the intent to leave or get a new room. Our first room in 404 looked like something out of a budget hotel that even the Motel 6 with the lights on blew away… our second room was acceptable but again had power outlets for you to plug in all of your appliances including hairdryer and curling irons. The refrigerator has tapwater in a carafe and nothing else. You can only get sparkling wine Saturdays between 5 and 6 PM therefore no mimosas for breakfast and let me add no Bloody Mary’s before 10 AM. And if you’d like a Diet Coke before the breakfast buffet opens it will come with no ice from a very disgruntled person behind the bar. The one restaurant offers a different menu each service that is OK. The bed is comfortable and the shower is absolutely disgusting. The pool, beach and bar area are very nice. The water is crystal clear. But the photos taken for all of the online reviews are not updated by any means. Actually, they’re extremely misleading to the point that we are checking out and going to the local Sandals resort which had a lower rating. I am going to end this review and let you know there is a manager named Isabella who is absolutely wonderful. Not wonderful enough to offer if a refund when we checked out but nice. Just don’t come here until it’s renovated. Otherwise, your expectations need to be subpar at best.
Came here to celebrate 25 years meeting on the island and my husband’s birthday, lovely hotel and staff, don’t worry about building works going on, didn’t bother us at all, More noise from the grass cutting. Food was mainly a la carte even lunchtimes, we did enjoy food at hotel but did eat out several times, Jerry in watersports was brilliant we’ve know him for 18 years, Annette in restaurant was also lovely and several others, we would definately stay here again, we did get lots of bites which we have never had before, not sure if they were in the room or the beach, we love Barbados and love this hotel , we were thinking how does one restaurant and one bar work but it does? see you soon , drinks mostly premium and lovely cocktails
Our first time at Mango Bay but have visited Barbados many times. This delightful boutique hotel is in a great location both for the beach (you’re literally on it!) and nightlife, shopping etc. Firstly, the building work next door did not in any way spoil the enjoyment of our holiday. There was little noise from that direction. Our room was pool side. It was immaculately clean with the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The restaurant served a la carte on some days and buffet on others. All good was excellent which meant we ate there mostly .. why wouldn’t you! Great staff in the restaurant, most attentive and polite. Donnell, the best dancer I have ever encountered. The bar served a selection of cocktails and named spirits. It was a joy to watch the hilarious Damien and Raymen with their antics. A special thanks to them, Dale and not forgetting the charming Anderson. Nothing was ever too much trouble. He knows we are coming back again to claim our plantation (he’ll know who’s written this! 😄) Thank you so much to you all. We will definitely be back… soon I hope.
Food wasn’t good at all; went with 7 ppl and everyone complained. Super small property, limited activities.
Celebrating a belated honeymoon. Emailed prior to arrival to let them know this and on arrival room was ready right away. Rum punch given on arrival which went down so well. The superior room we booked had a Bottle of champagne and rose petals and the towel animal balloons waiting for us and was overlooking the beach. Assume you could hear the entertainment at night time from The room but we stayed out to listen to the performers after dinner until their sets were over so it didn't affect us or our sleeping. Our first nights meal was amazing we got seated at our table and the menu was personalised for us celebrating our honeymoon. Staff were very attentive and we developed a good rapport with some of them. Dianna in the restaurant was amazing her and the wife had a daily banter and she made she drinks were always there for us. Damien was amazing too we would have daily conversations and he would make me interesting drinks and tell funny stories, Joseph, Kyle and others whose names I can't remember looked after us. The lady who ran the spa I think sherrie was very kind too she gave us recommendations for things to do and even checked to see we made it back home safely. We ended enjoying our conversations with the guests and staff. I enjoyed talking to Hedley the night security. On our last day the staff gave us hugs, this is the first holiday I've ever been on where you feel like you're leaving your friends. Staff are so attentive, ignore people worrying about the noise from the hotel being built. On odd occasion I would hear it while relaxing on the beach or in the water but it didn't effect us at all. Do take mosquito repellents though. Can't wait to come back again. Can see why they get a lot of repeat business. If you want perfection and a modern feel then don't book here but if you want a nice charm and homely feel then do it. The rooms aren't perfect as people have mentioned they are slightly dated but we didn't spend much time in the room to even bother us. Every day we're on the beach or at the bar/restaurant talking to people or having drinks.
A perfect place to relax, unfortunately there is building work taking place next door which is out of the hotel’s control. We had four nights there and that was just right, anything longer for us would have been too long. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with the exception of the water sports team who appeared to go out of their way to be unhelpful and surly. They acted like they were doing you a favour when most of the time they were not. The captain was the only decision maker and he was hardly ever there. The Sunday night karaoke at TML One Love just outside the hotel is such good fun. Wear comfy shoes because you’ll probably be standing al night. Book the free catamaran trip with the hotel, you will see turtles, and the serve rum punch. Have fun.
Just returned from a wonderful 8 nights at Mango Bay. Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. Authentic Bajan charm. Staff were all amazing. Room was fabulous (we did upgrade to superior pool / garden room). Snorkeling was exceptional. We never go back to same place twice but we may well do here.
Just back after a week at Mango Bay and would probably rate a 3.5 but that option not available . Great location , spotless rooms and lovely staff in the dining/drinks area . Let down by the food , entertainment and shocking customer service from the water sports team which is a shame as most people spend the majority of their holiday on the beach.
We have recently returned from a 9 day stay at Mango Bay hotel and we absolutely loved it from start to finish. The Hotel is located on a great location in Holetown within easy reach of bars, restaurants, supermarkets and shops. The pool area is great and you can always get a sunbed, the beach is amazing and you can get a sunbed but some guests put their towels down early which makes others follow so you don’t miss out on the good spots on the beach. The restaurant is great we found the food to be of a good standard and there was plenty of choice, also the menu changes from a la carte to buffet and they also have a grill on most days along with snacks etc. we stayed in condo 5 which was amazing for me, my wife and daughter, the condo had 2 big rooms along with a beautiful outdoor space with a table and 4 chairs, we also had loads of storage and a decent size bathroom. The staff at Mango Bay are amazing and I mean all staff, they all work extremely hard from the amazing front of house staff, restaurant staff, housekeeping and the bar staff are also amazing, the Bajan people are so friendly and make you feel extremely welcome. I want to give a special mention to Dale and Naomi who really went the extra mile to accommodate us on our special day and for providing me and my family with a special gazebo meal which was amazing, me and wife booked Mango Bay to renew our wedding vows after 10 years and our chosen gazebo location unfortunately had to have a few running repairs and was not available on the day but Dale and Naomi sorted the other other gazebo and they made our special day extra special, thank you 🙏. We also did the complimentary caterman which again was great, it stopped at the beach right in front of the Loan Star Restaurant Which had crystal clear waters and fine white sand, we also ate at the Loan star on the night of our wedding vows and it was fantastic, anyway back to Mango Bay Hotel, I can’t fault it at all, yes there is a hotel been built close by but you hardly notice the noise but it’s outside of Mango Bays control. I can’t name all to staff but I want to give a massive shout out to both Rayden and Damien who are constantly working extremely hard to serve drinks both at the bar and taking drinks orders by the pool and and beach, we had a lot of interaction with both and they are first class lads and who make you laugh and smile everyday, Damien you are crazy in the best possible way 😂 and Rayden you are a gentleman. I wouldn’t hesitate in going back to Mango Bay, thank you again to all the staff 😀
Beautiful location & amazing staff! We had an amazing 14 nights here, hotel very clean & tidy. We stayed in one of the ocean view rooms, loads of space, storage and lovely comfy bed, decor and bathroom a little tired, but didn’t ruin our stay one bit. We had read reviews before coming regarding food quality and the building works, but absolutely no worries at all. Firstly the food, we never had the same meal twice, all the food was lovely! We took the opportunity to eat from the a la cart menus, and not only was the food delicious it was perfect portion sizes. The days that the meals were buffet style, again the food was delicious and there was plenty of choice. If you’re looking for massive buffet style then this is not the place for you. Secondly the building works, whilst we were here they completed 1 floor and were forming the second floor (think it was around 4 floors when we left) to be honest we didn’t really notice too much noise and not enough to ruin our holiday (not as noisy as the whistling frogs 😂) you tended to hear more when removing scaffolding or pouring the concrete. We had some brilliant trips out, can’t recommend Daren enough! He collected us from the airport and then was kind enough to take us out for the day exploring this beautiful island. Tre took us to St Nicholas Abbey and gave us a mini tour of the way too. And finally, what can I say about ‘Mark the Shark’ absolutely amazing, our swimming with turtles was a massive tick off our bucket list! Can’t thank him enough. Lastly, we found ALL of the staff to be friendly, helpful and blooming lovely, a special shout out to Isabelle who goes out of her way to check in with you, Ronald (guest services), Damien, Rayden, Anderson, Faith, Cl-Ann, Maxine, Annetta P & Donnell. Without you all our holiday wouldn’t have been the same 🩵🩷
Location, meals and location were fantastic but everything was perfect
Nothing
Second time here and it did not disappoint. Rooms are a little dated but clean and lovely big comfortable bed. The staff are absolutely lovely! The only reason I can think of if people complain about them is that they don't treat them with the respect they deserve and they obviously react accordingly. The food was gorgeous! A la carte most nights or buffet, same for lunch. Again can't think why people complain unless they are after piling their plates high with everything they can only to waste it. It's not that sort of dining. The beach is beautiful, very clear, shallow water with plenty of sun beds and lovely walks both ways. Rayden and Damien are always on hand to bring drinks from the bar. We didn't use the pool but it looked ok. We hired a car for a couple of days to get around the island which was lovely. Can't wait to return!
The staff were excellent. However, they only have 1 restaurant. The food they served for dinner was very small. And they only served hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch. We did not take advantage of the all inclusive options for lunch and dinner. I recommend going to a different restaurant for dinner. Shower needs to be updated.
Liked the smaller size of the hotel. Staff was exceptional. Great stay for us.
Great experience at Mango Bay hotel in a perfect location of Holetown! Everything from the great staff, service and resort itself was excellent. We had an ocean view room which was a great choice, everything was at high standard and things were very clean with housekeeping staff taking great care of everything. The buffet breakfast was perfect, food was fresh and a lot of selection. Dinner was also very good, nice selection on the menu and everything we had was delicious. We ate lunch off the resort a few days just because we’d by out exploring the area, there are a few beach bars if you get out walking the beach. Also a lot of eateries directly across the street from the hotel in the Limegrove Mall, which is a very nice trendy area to spend some time. The evening entertainment at the hotel was very good, talented singers all around. With the location of Mango Bay it’s just a few steps outside the resort to many bars if you want to venture out at night as well, Sunday night karaoke street party was fun! I would have to say this is a perfect area to stay in to experience Barbados, we will return to Mango Bay Holetown!
We have just arrived back from 10 days at Mango Bay, it was perfect! Couldn’t fault the service and friendliness of the staff, the delicious food (great variety buffet breakfast), lunches (plus beach BBQ 2-3 times a week and snack menu including pizzas and other bits to order off) and dinners (mix of buffets and sit down meals), lots of fresh local cuisine. Mango Bay is located perfectly for exploring the island, with a yellow bus stop right outside (you could hop on one of these to Speightstown or Bridgtown or Oistins, €3.50 BDS a trip and can be lively!). Our room was spotless and cleaned every day, we were in room 2 which is the separate building around the back of the restaurant. Lots of lovely toiletries and robes included too. We recommend using all the inclusive water sports like water skiing (we didn’t) and kayaking (excellent!) and we also paid for the Oistins Fish Fry excursion which was worth it for the guaranteed travel and stop at a nearby bar en route back. The rum tour trip was a little deceiving as we thought we were visiting the actual distillery and not the visitor centre (still had fun, but do check!) My (now) fiancé proposed on our 2nd night and wow the hotel were so lovely, they decorated our table with a personalised menu and left a bottle in our room. Felt truly spoilt! Thank you so much for a fabulous stay - we will definitely be back!!❤️
