Nice place to stay
I booked the Hotel because it had a gym, the pictures on the website is not the same gym, or it has been made smaller and equipment removed. Hidden car park charges at hotel. Travelodge do not charge extra. However I found every staff member helpful and a pleasure to converse with
Clean and quiet room, the only down side was the bathroom floor which seriously needs replacing, who knows what gremlins lurk within!
It’s a nice place to stay and a good value for money. The staff are very nice and helpful. My only challenge was that I stayed here for almost a week without a car; It’s a highway service area (rest stop) and so it’s ideal for people who’re passing through and planning to stay for a night or two. Since I did not have a personal car, getting to train lines was quite pricy, especially since I had to do it everyday. Otherwise I’ll say it’s a nice place to stay for a decent price.
The drain in the shower was blocked as the shower tray flooded the grouting on the floor was non existent the place is run down the staff told us disabled car park was free then another member of staff told us it wasn’t and that I would get a parking charge however if I emailed them they would sort it!! I shouldn’t have been told incorrectly in the first place. If you book direct the parking is free! I won’t be returning again!
loved our few days with you staff were very friendly and pleasent this is our second stay with you and hopfully will be back again many thanks
Bathroom door handle broken, and bathroom needs refurbishing.
The room had an overwhelming smell of bleach, it was incredibly noisy with the windows opening directly onto the south mimms services car park, the duvet had stains on it. I would not recommend this hotel - if you had nowhere else to stay, it would be fine, but not for the prices.
Get what you pay for
I’ve stayed at this Ramada a lot; probably more than 100 times, because it’s basic but clean and comfortable. However my last trip was after a full day of international travel to grab a few hours sleep before continuing. I left my iPad in the room - my fault - and I didn’t realise for 4 days when I went to unpack. I emailed the hotel, no response. When I called the next day - I was told “I was just emailing you back” and that my iPad was there BUT the hotel knew which room the iPad was left in and had all my contact details and made no effort to contact me at all, which is technically ‘theft by finding’ and although I now have it back - it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and feels very dishonest on the hotel staff’s part. I feel like if I hadn’t gotten in touch, they wouldn’t have either despite knowing the iPad belonged to me, so I can’t help but wonder where it would’ve ended up?
Bed is ok but there's no aircon in the room
Booked in overnight as attending a funeral following day so was a convenient stop over. Drinks were very pricy and limited places to eat as it is in a services area outside was rubbish from takeaways left and bins overflowing which attracted vermin
Close to my destination the following morning. In a motorway services which isn’t bad but my room was on the ground floor beside the main entrance with people walking in and out all night, smoking and noisy.
Bed comfortable. Floor tiles broken and loose in bathroom Hair on toilet seat Poor customer service when requesting early cancellation due to change in work location. Forced to use hotel rather than lose payments
Not a very nice smell in the room, 2 cracked floor tiles in the bathroom, sink leaking, the guys in reception were very friendly but the condition of the room I am unlikely to return.
This hotel is in a good location with shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. It is a great value for money. The rooms are spacious and it was great to have iron, fan and hairdryer in the room. If there was aircon I would give it 5 stars in all areas. However it won't refrain me from returning. I will come back again.
The room we were first shown to smelled of cigarettes but we were able to change rooms. A used bath towel from the previous guests was still hanging in the bathroom and there was only one set of towels provided. This was swiftly remedied. The lift was out of order. The hotel does look a little tired.
Good location and plenty of parking Room was apparently an executive room. Tv remote didn’t work plus there was a leak in the bathroom which made the carpet outside the door soggy. Been like that for ages since the floor had a dip in it from the rotting wood.
Love that it was so close to many food establishments
It was a spaces room but bed sheets were not clean properly
Excellent budget hotel with great amenities
Stayed here several times, find it conveniently placed for our needs. Generally quit and clean for a motorway service area
Excellent value overall
Not much
On arrival was informed that there was no hot water. Extremely disappointing as all i wanted was a shower. Staff member did apologise and offered free parking and a breakfast voucher by way of apology. Not having hot water made the whole experience poor.
The hot water was too cold to shower with
No hot water , lovely and quiet
No hot water due to broken boiler. Not mentioned when booking room. £5 parking fee, not mentioned when booking room. Will not be staying there again.
I stayed for just one night on a work visit near the hotel. Was told, after I checked in, that they had an issue with the water temp and the water would just be warm. I arrived late so went straight to bed. When I needed to take a shower the next morning I came to find the water was in fact freezing cold. As you can imagine making it incredibly difficult to wash. After asking the front desk they had no fix for me at all, so continued my freezing cold shower to get ready for work. On checkout, I asked the front deck for some sort of compensation for this and was met with a no. Not good.
Rooms very basic for the price only given 1 pillow per person which is as flat as anything
No hot water for shower, staff did not really care but clearly know that there is no hot water available in this hotel
Only thing good about this hotel was the speed of the wifi. Everything else was just average at best. Nice for the housekeeping to let herself in when i was half naked!!!
The hotel is easy to find and the staff we met were very friendly. When I got out of the shower and sat on the edge of the bed a piece of spring or something metal came through the mattress and stabbed me in the back of the leg. It’s definitely not a recent defect to the mattress.
I was forced to book a hotel extremely quickly due to a broken pipe issue at my home. I don't live far from this hotel and it was quite cheap and now i know why! There is no grout in the tiles in the shower or bathroom floor, the mattress looks like a horror movie. I would avoid this place as it is not clean. I even brought my own hoover to vacuum the bedroom floor!!
It was ok, suited my short term needs. Staff were nice, hotel ready for a bit of a freshen up
Old tired and dirty
Grout missing on shower floor, dirty bathroom side, mold in the shower, bed rock hard like it was cardboard carpet dirty
Staff not welcoming at all. All they think about is money. First question was do you have a car and it will be £5 charge for parking.
We needed a convenient stop over after a long day out. Reception lady was polite and friendly, room was clean but basic. Tea and coffee available. Good shower nothing really to complain about, it’s a hotel at a service station so we aren’t looking for 5 star luxury. A good stay
Not a bad stay but not great. Bed was way too soft. Window was rotting on the wooden frame and quite a few of the bathroom floor tiles were cracked. (App wont let me add photos either)
Good location.
Disappointed that we had to pay £5 for parking. This has never been required before. Also did not receive Wyndams reward of water and chocolate
I have stayed here a number of times in the past but this is the first time I have had to pay for parking
Better sleep in your car. Absolutely disgusting experience. This place should be shut down and fumigated. The room was filthy, dust everywhere, carpets stained like they’ve never been cleaned, and a stench that hit me the second I walked in. It smelled like damp mold mixed with old sweat. The bathroom was a nightmare, with grime all over and a shower floor that looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed in weeks. The lift felt like stepping into a cramped shoebox. Honestly, I was scared it might get stuck. And the staff? Rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in helping. When I asked to switch rooms because of the smell, the receptionist acted like I was the problem. Zero customer service. The only reason this place is still in business is because it’s at a motorway service station and people are too tired to argue. Do yourself a favour, sleep in your car. It’d be cleaner and far less stressful.
I like it very good services
Great stay
dated property.
Just an overnight stay for work and I must say I was impressed. Despite it's proximity to the M25 it was pretty peaceful. Room and bathroom functional and clean. Being in a service station there's everything you need, car charging, food outlets, fuel. So, all it all, nothing swanky but very comfortable.
Having stayed at this hotel several times before, was very disappointed to be informed on arrival that they had changed their policy and now charge hotel guests to park at a motorway service station. Funny they did not think to advertise this beforehand.
Please l never see in my life like this hotel
The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The room when we got int here smelt like some a poo had been left in there, with the extractor in the smell didn’t go away. There are chips int he bathroom floor that had we had a little child could have hurt themselves. There was no grout in between the floor tiles a crack along the unit behind the toilet. It was also not the cleanest water marks on the toilet seat and behind the sink. One of the plug sockets didn’t work, one of the bedside lights didn’t work and there was condensation on the windows.
Had to pay additional fees to park on arrival which I wasnt aware of. Apparently if you book direct they waive this fee so hotels.com are also being naughty here but I dont like these sort of tactics. Also breakfast on site is 8.99 pp. Hotels.com charged 10.00 so again very annoyed. And to top this you have to eat in the services next door. Food was not worth the money. The room was tired. Bathroom white goods broke and repaired with staining around the room. Windows ill fitting and generally run down. It served a purpose but i dont know who to blame more the hotel or hotels.com for mis information.
Have stayed here several times over last few years. It is convenient for us as we have grown up children residing not far from hotel.
When I made the purchase I searched for properties with free car parking. When I arrived I had to pay an additional £5 per night which I was not expecting. Room smelt, toilet was not clean and don't think the shower taps had ever been cleaned before. Bedroom was spacious, but fairly noisy. Bed was very comfortable, temperature was good.
All our room garbage cans were full in our 2nd day, so we asked the front desk to have our room clean. We got back around 7:00 pm and the garbage cans were still full. The cleaners just dropped off new towels in the room. I overheard another customer complaining about dirty room during our check in. All staff in this hotel are very lazy and does not seem to care about customers.
Great for staying near Hatfield had everything you need but beware if you book through a third party like expedia you get charged for parking
We had to change rooms due to really strong sewage smell. The lady at reception was really helpful. Most of the lights in the bedroom didn't work andthe bed was rock solid so we didn't have a good night's sleep. The motorway is also quite loud.
Really convenient for business trip. Friendly staff always make you welcome. Clean and comfortable rooms
Not good
Good
Stayed here a good few time now and the place could really do with a bit of TLC starting to look run down and beds not comfy like an elephant slept on them
Unfortunately there was an awful smell in the bathroom. There was a fair amount of dust in both bathroom and bedroom. There was no plug in sink. The black out curtains didn’t actually cover the window.
Slept well
Friendly staff and the place was clean would definitely recommend
Bit smelly inside the rooms
The hotel was filthy at stank of steel smoke the ceilings were falling down. The carpets were virally disgusting
Good quick and easy check in lovely little bar good for a night stop on the way to the next place
Friendly staff
So this is a hotel at a service station - it’s cheap, clean and I found it to be comfortable. The rooms are fairly basic but have everything you need - there were some bits that were a little rough around the edges - the taps kinda looked like they’d been through the wars but the shower worked, the heater worked and all in all, decent enough for a cheap hotel near London. The staff deserve a big mention - very polite and helpful, a credit to their company.
Trued to cancel the booking 8 days before my stay and The Ramada wouldnt cancel. This cost me a lot of money. Never staying there again
Clean, comfortable room. Bathroom door handle broken. Courteous and helpful staff, both reception and housekeeping. Free residents’ parking.
Very convenient and pleasant staff. Comfy bed.
First time staying at the Ramada South Mimms. Was ok have stayed in better for similar price. Rooms felt a bit dated, no usb sockets near bed or plugs...the 13amp which was near the bed didnt work! ☹️ Also prefer a non fixed shower head which this room had however shower was pretty powerful. Funnily enough the towels were a big plus! They were very soft and good sizes as well as the bathroom. Room was clean and the added touch of a fridge was good also as not many hotels have them as standard.
Hotel was easy to find. Plenty of parking. Easy to use if disabled . Sum up. It was a room. Double bed. Kettle and tea/ coffee. With the services right next door it was easy to get food as well.
Pretty good standard at a reasonable price with parking included.
The reception staff were excellent. Very polite and helpful. We didn't actually see any other staff. Position wise the hotel is very good and there are decent food options within the service station. The room was clean and spacious although somewhat tired. We would definitely stay here again
There was fault with the fire alarm, which went off twice between 11.25pm and 12am. The communication about the fault was very poor and guests were left standing in the reception area with no information about the situation of what to do. This alarm fault caused a lot of disruption. However, it was the lack of communication which was most frustrating and worrying.
What a mistake to make. It’s a service station hotel and it’s very basic. Bed was awful. Room very old fashioned. Staff lovely and very friendly though.
Nice room, convenient location and variety of eating options.
A great place near Elstree studios for a quick kip.
Simple room handy access to all roads
Comfy clean room beds comfy good wifi parking included . Good location for hour needs have stayed here before
Have stayed here on a few occasions and found its location good for our needs. Comfy bed reasonably quiet parking included helpful staff.
The WiFi didn’t work at all which we needed due to working whilst I was staying at the hotel. Plug sockets in the room were so low on one side under the tv that we couldn’t plug our phone chargers in at all. We thought there was on site breakfast and restaurant facilities. A bit disappointed that we had to use the next door service area facilities for food as we sure suggested the hotel did the breakfast. Shower wax fantastic though, very powerful.
Chosen as 10 min drive from Northern Line tube station for our evening in Camden. Good price. I have used this hotel previously and rooms are adequate (prev rooms have been on ground floor). However, we stayed in room 119, this time on the 1st floor. The bedroom floorboards were quite noisy when you walked. The floor tiles in the bathroom were all uneven and the one by the sink moved slightly downwards when you stood on it, like the tiles collapsing into rotten floorboards. I think someone could quite easily cut their toe or trip on these broken, uneven tiles. Also took forever to push the plug back up in the sink to empty the water. We almost gave up and left it full. Good shower, powerful and constant temperature. Bedroom was ok and bed and pillows comfy. Nice that you can get coffee, drinks and some snacks at reception.
Heavily stinks all around the corridor and particularly in the room. The staff keep spraying chocking air fresheners to subdue the smell in the room, yet the smell overrides. Staff claimed that the room could not be changed because they were fully booked. I didn’t believe this. Dirty carpet and furnitures surfaces. Not worth the price paid an any way. I wished I had somewhere else to go that night. Checked in very late due to late working hours. Couldn’t sleep throughout the night and checked out pretty early in the morning so as not to chock to death.
Comfortable bed and a convenient location just off motorway
It was a motorway service station so dreadful. But the hotel, service, staff were all excellent.
The room had a smell of damp and i fell ill staying there for 1 night that i decided to check out early. The hotel is very outdated. The manager even admitted that he was aware that the rooms have a damp issue.
It’s fine for a services
I've been to many hotels but I was very impressed with the friendly reception staff. The people who do service the rooms are all helpful, I recommend this place , I'm sure you'll be surprises .
Easy and convient Could of done with extra towel
The property was ok in all areas
Room smelled of spilled coffee, vanilla flavoured to make it worse.
Convenient easy for airport and London.
Handy for what we needed. Property looking a little tired. It it was fine for ou4 needs. We have stayed there before and it is very reasonably priced and the added bonus of being able to get a breakfast is a plus for us
Functional and convenient.
The hotel is within the service area at the junction of the M25 & A1M It is free parking when entering your car details at reception The hotel is situated next door to a restaurant and other eating places
Staff on reception were all friendly and helpful. The hotel's cleanliness was really impressive.
Waited at check in desk for almost 20 mins before anyone turned up. First use of the shower and it immediately flooded the bathroom, complained to front desk. Was told they couldn’t do anything until the next day. In which i would’ve already checked out. No compensation was offered.
