Rodos Palace Hotel

Looking for a nightmare vacation? You've come to the right place! We read the comments - we couldn't believe it. The price convinced us... and we made the mistake of a lifetime. We're here for 9 nights in the old wing: Looks like a hotel from the 80's without proper maintenance Smelly hallways of dirty carpets. The room looks like an abandoned warehouse - scratched parquet, a broken refrigerator next to a new refrigerator, an air conditioner that makes a noise like an airplane but cools like a burning candle (and also puts out dust!), a sunken bed, a broken toilet, broken sockets, a balcony door that doesn't lock, broken lighting, a clogged sink, and a floor that hasn't heard a mop in years. The reception? They smile and say "come in the morning... maybe they'll free up some rooms." In the meantime - we sleep three nights without air conditioning. reception, lobby, dining room and public areas are all crowded. Breakfast with a thousand people, all industrial. Don't do this to yourself.

We payed extra for a room with a double bed and view of the garden. All we saw was the roof that stretches out towards the garden and the room had two single beds. We had to ask 5-7 times over the span of two days for new beds or a new room, but ended up pushing them together ourselves, only for the housekeeping to put them back. This is NOT a 5-star hotel, 3 at BEST. Do not waste your money here.

There is no variety in the food, the food does not change and every day it is the same. The pool is small and not adapted to the number of vacationers

Beautiful hotel in convenient location. Customer service excellent. Elevators not all working and has to walk down 15 flights of stairs. 1 elevator never worked at all. A/C didn’t work properly. Kept turning off and switch would not turn back on. I believe the switch plate needed to be replaced. Beautiful breeeze of the ocean accommodated for lack of proper a/c.

Dirty all over, staff rude and the room I saw online wasn’t what I got!

No conditioner for your hair, no soap, no iron to iron clothes since we were attending a wedding Cleaning ladies did not speak English or Greek

Hotel in amazing location and beautiful beach. Ok as a four star hotel but really wouldn’t call it five , as the finishes were poor. Few issues; 1-dangerous large mirror that was cracked and we reported it twice and nothing done about it. 2-wrong pictures of chosen suite didn’t have pool as advertised , and we were told Expedia got it wrong . 3- iron room had timer light that kept going out whilst trying to iron which is dangerous . 3-advertised with coffee tea making facilities and we had one coffee pod in the whole week, plus our friends were charged for their coffee in their room , 4- city tax higher than advertised on site and were slightly shocked when checking in and presented with the invoice. 5- though there is a large amount of breakfast available , the hot breakfast was cold to warm if you were lucky and we tried at different times and always the same.

Dining arrangements were ordinary. There was a restaurant at the rear that was only availabile for guests that had pre-bought all their dining. This was often near empty, while the main dining hall was chaotic. Additionally one lift wa only available for people on floor 16, while the other two lifts often provide a slow service.

They advertise a sauna and gym but you need to pay an additional €25 per use. False advertisement.

There is a queue in the cafeteria for breakfast even at 7 in the morning. The staff give you instructions saying "you sit here, you sit there, no, it's not possible there". It's like a military mess hall. When you have breakfast, you are afraid to pick up your phone because an staff will say something. There are very crowded tours coming all the time. There is a long tail in everything you do. The hotel is always crowded. Those who seek peace should stay away. The receptionists are like concrete. They asks for your credit card information so incase you can do something to the room. The Greek staff standing in the cafe next to the pool speak contemptuously. They reject the guests. They make fun of me when I say don't talk like that. Especially Greek young men are very aggressive and have aggressive attitudes. He speaks in a belligerent manner. The rooms are old, the hotel furniture is old. The sink is clogged. As I was going down to breakfast, I got nervous because one of the staff would say something. Very crowded hotel, there is always a queue, there is commotion and noise. The hotel seriously discriminates between all inclusive and breakfast only customers. There is discrimination in breakfast rooms and breakfast foods. Hotel employees also communicate with you by making this discrimination. The tradesmen of Rhodes are very money-grubbing and very rude. In short, this hotel ruined my holiday. I wouldn't want to go to Rhodes or the Rodos Palas hotel again.

It’s alright… but Not the greatest. Appreciating it’s a massive complex but the whole place looks and feels a bit tired. 50 years old this year… and you can tell. Check in is painful and for some reason seems to take an age. We stayed in one of the family bungalow suites up the mountain side. Concierge service with buggies to get you up and down thank god. The room was ok but… as I say… in need of a refurb. Aircon in the room defo needs a re-gas or service. Had trouble getting to sleep some nights as it was still pretty hot in the room. Had an “American” style breakfast included… lots to choose from. Staff could defo do with cheering up a bit… not many smiles knocking around. Overall… I’d give it 6 out of 10.

I had a fantastic stay at the Rodos Palace Hotel. The room was clean and had a beautiful view. The meals were delicious. The location is perfect, close to the city center. The staff was friendly and attentive, always ready to assist. I highly recommend Rodos Palace for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Hotellet trenger opo Pgradeting. Ikke verdig 5 stjerner. Skittent og ødelagte solstoler rundt basseng. Bakken var brun og sleip i 6 dager før vi så renhold ved bassenget. Flere av gjestene falt og skadet seg. Dusjen på rom var ødelagt i holder, manglende rehold i fester rundt glassvegg på bad. Forvitret og med hvitt/grønt belegg. Skjeve lamper og revet gardin. Sovesofa kunn Vi hadde junior suite. Sovesofa kunne ikke brukes til å sove i. Berg og dalbane. Fikk heldigvis ny seng. Flott service og kjekt ved bassenget med aktiviteter. Bar med salg av drikkevarer og is. Barneområdet var hyggelig med flere vannsklier og grunt basseng. Supert. Hotellet må oppgraderes, bør få ny bro ved basseng, ødelagt og gammel. Får ikke lagt til bilder.

Mein empfang war kurz und schmerzlos, eines 5 sterne hotels nicht würdig. Nachdem ich die zimmernummer erfuhr und wo der lift ist, fragte mich das fräulein ob ich sonst noch etwas wissen müsste. Ich denke die rezessionen auch auf anderen portalen sagen alles aus über freundlichkeit und hilfsbereitschaft in diesem hotel. In D und CH hätte dieses hotel nicht mehr als 3sterne superieur. Nach der preisliste für die minibar habe ich 3mal gefragt, genau so wie ich 3 mal fragen musste ob ich einen korkenzieher haben könnte um die flasche die mir hotels/expedia freundlicherweise spendiert hat. Auch das flackernde licht im bad wurde nach meldung 5 tage lang nicht gewechselt. Hotels.com sollte dieses hotel nicht mehr mit 5 sternen anbieten, das gebäude ist alt und verkommen, das personal desinteressiert und unfreundlich.

has nothing to do with 5 stars, maybe on a weak level with maybe 3! hotel is old and needs a lot of upgrades run down, staff are more busy talking to each other than helping guests. was visiting friends of ours who were at a 3 star hotel which was much cleaner, nicer and better service! despite being a gold member with hotels.com, this was the worst hotel I have ever been to. definitely not worth the money

Great vacation destination

The staff is very nice and help for to solve the check-in problem. Housekeeping comes every day and no need making requests like many other hotels nowadays . However the facilities in the rooms need upgrading .

This is our 3rd stay at Rodos Palace. We have always stayed in a garden suite or a bungalow rather than the main hotel block. This year we stayed in a bungalow again. They are spacious and the grounds around the bungalows are well maintained. They are also very quiet. However, we have noticed that the bungalows have started to look 'tired' and could definitely benefit from a refurbishment. Although the main hotel pool is lovely, you cannot get a bed at the pool if you aren't up extremely early. This is despite a sign at the pool asking guests not to leave towels/belongings on beds prior to 10am and then returning to their rooms. The sign says belongings will be removed if this happens. Everyone ignores those signs and the hotel does not take any action. This is disappointing when you are looking for a sunbed and the vast majority are unoccupied at 10 with just a bottle of suncream or towel on them!

Great location

It was a complete disappointment, it did not fulfill any of our expectations, the people in the front desk were rude and have unclean rooms, they don’t clean the bathrooms, floors or change the bed sheets, all they bed sheets are always stained.

This is a lovely hotel but it could do with some maintenance. The staff were friendly, especially Dimitris. There were quite a few niggles in our room, like the AC could have been cooler, the shower kept over flooding, ants in the kitchen. The breakfast had variety but it was average. We had an amazing private pool in our block so felt relaxed. Overall, we didn’t allow these issues to get in the way. We had a wonderful break. The hotel really stepped up when the wildfires happened and provided food and shelter for all those affected. Hat off to them!

Staff are so rude and unhelpful specially in the bars, drinks are so bad too and the bar attender at the teracce bar was so rude

Old facilities

Very young slightly rowdie crowd staying there. Wasn't what we expected. Nice renovated room,clean and modern. Food in buffet restaurant was ok. Very warm weather, had to find a place away from the main pool as different people had music blaring from their speakers. Very reasonable quick break for my birthday. Shame no sun beds on the beach. Nice staff. Very out of season so the area was very quiet, no other hotels open. Many restaurants /shops were closed. Outside pool was freezing and the indoor pool wasn't in use. Plenty of sun beds out of season, probably wouldn't want to be there in summer. Have stayed at much better five star hotels. Definitely get sea view and premium room which has been renovated.

Upon arrival, we were checked in, no issue, no mention of additional charges, only the tourist tax. We then realised drinks not included with meals so we had to pay extra. There was no mention of an additional £15 charge per night. Overall, we ended up paying an additional approx £60 on top of our reservation fee. Not warned when checked in. Hotel is clean and beautiful but a lot of resources were closed. At the bar, you are pressurised to order drinks if you want to enjoy entertainment. Rooms are decent, modern and clean. Our toilet door would not open once closed. So we had to open the door from outside. The bathroom door would not close leaving a gap which the floor very slippery. The lights would randomly switch off and on at night which was scary at the beginning. There is a generator that runs early in the morning which is very very disturbing. No aircons in rooms. Only heater that is set to 27 (centrally). I would rate this hotel 3 or 4. I wouldn’t return to the hotel again. Definitely not worth the price. I was fooled by the pictures and the 5 star, but I didn’t get a 5 star service. What upsets me the most is that there were not honest about additional fees and surprised us on check out whilst taxi was waiting outside to take us back to the airport. I didn’t even have an opportunity to ask for an explanation or a chance to speak to a manager/supervisor.

Disappointed that a five star rated hotel, offered only a buffet service dinner option. Not notified of this at check-in. Not made clear at booking time that hotel would be shared with all inclusive bookings! Standard of accommodation was superb.

Second visit and sadly not as good an experience. Had to move rooms once to get air con that actually worked. Rooms are getting tired and in need of upgrade. Cleaners poor. Lots of facilities weren’t open and you have to pay extra €10 per visit to use the gym.

The best holiday our family has ever had. This was our 2nd time visiting the hotel and we would not hesitate in recommending. The hotel was very well setup for COVID restrictions, and we always felt safe and secure. A big thank you to Renata at the front desk for accommodating our large family (6 people) and always being there to assist and to Laki and Despoina at the bar for their friendly, welcoming personalities.

Feeling safe we had the chance to enjoy our stay! Nice Hotel, nice swimming pool for children with a water park! Fresh and clean rooms with sea view! Nice breakfast buffets, very gentle staff!!

A five stars hotel. The room was recently renovated and very clean. The staff was very friendly. The food was great in every restaurant. You can walk to the beach any time of the day.

Excellent stay, beautiful hotel! They take COVID quite serious, so we felt safe to move around the area! The view from the room was amazing! Despoina and Petro were the heart of the Rodos Palace!!

Great stay at the Rodos Palace. Staff were fantastic and always really helpful. Good location with beach across the road and Rhodes Town only a short bus or taxi ride away.

The hotel staff were excellent, always helpful and the service given was again very good. The staff are made to work long hours. The hotel is kept clean, but the property condition in certain areas does need to be upgraded. The hotel can not be said it is 5 star!!There were chairs which were falling apart. The beach was across the road and we had to pay Eu5 /bed, there was no deal made by the hotel so that we would not have to pay. The evening shows were a big disappointment, and again for a 5Star hotel a better effect should have been made.

The hotel needs an upgrade, it looks too old. Our hotel room had a burn on the carpet and dirty walls. We have been asking for an iron to iron our clothes for 3 days, receiving different answers about the reason why we can/cannot have an iron. Every day we were told different things to realise that they were not giving us an iron to force us pay for the ironing services of the hotel!!! This is supposed to be a 5* hotel and everyone pays a good amount of money for their stay. They are trying to make even more money from things like the ironing services and wifi! There is NO wifi in the rooms, only in public areas!!! In a 5* hotel!!! We have been to real 5* hotels like Hilton, Nikki, Four Seasons and nobody ever refused to give us an iron!!! Even in little B&Bs they do provide irons and wifi! Ridiculous!!! Definitely NOT a 5* hotel!

They charged 370 euro for laundry service and didn’t tell me price until after they did it

Mixed up the rooms, so, on arrival after a hot and lengthy ferry trip, it took the best part of an hour until we had suitable sleeping arrangements for the 5 paying adults in our party. This, inspite of calling ahead 24 hours before arriving, to be assured they knew we needed separate beds, due to my being post-Op, and unable to share. 5 star hotel in mid August with NO air conditioning... no-one even told us it had broken down at check in, but when we sent for someone, they sent up a young man, Vassilis, who played around with it then said a technician would come up.. We waited in the heated room, sweating, for an hour. No-one came. After returning from dinner, the room was unbearably hot, so I called down, to be told there was a problem. Receptionist said she would put a note under the door with an appointment for me to discuss with the manager, the following morning. No note received. I emailed Customer Relations re my dissatisfaction. Still no reply 6 days on. Dreadful. Expensive, waste of my hard earned money, for a 24 hour stay, no sleep due to heat, and lack of advertised facility. They don't care about their guests, inhospitable hotel.

The good thing about the hotel is that it is very clean, the food was good and located in a nice area of Rhodes... I will list the things I didn’t like about the hotel and hence I will not be staying there again! - Staff attitude: The staffs (receptionist, manager, waiter and waitress) were rude and not helpful - Hotel facilities: You have to pay 5 euro per day to use the gym. I have been to a lot of countries and I have never experienced this before. -Hotel facilitates: You have to pay 7 euro to iron a shirt. I asked the receptionist for an iron and they initially said they don’t provide an iron to customers for safety reasons thereafter they said I can reserve one for the next day. As advised, I reserved an iron for the next day but I didn’t received one :( The manager ironed my shirt for free the first night and said she will arrange an iron for me the next day. I waited another day and I did get an iron so I went out and purchased one. Cleaning staffs: They left the balcony door open on 2 occasions

RP is old tired and should be gutted and completely refurbished. It needs a massive updating. The Staff are overworked and it shows. The first room I stayed in looked fine but the bathroom was unusable due to a lack of maintenance. The staff gave me a second room. This room had a bathroom that worked appropriately. The beach was bad. Small stones between toes not good. The beach should be sanded. The personal touch, because of resort size, is lacking. The HT Mngr was nowhere to be seen. I never met HT Mngr in RP not once. The resort is too big and needs updating. The breakfast, cooked, is a joke. The buffet needs changing.

We booked the Sunset Suite and it did exactly what it said on the tin. The view was amazing! Also, we really liked the number of options with regards to dining and being able to upgrade our half board to one of the a la cart restaurants for 5Euro's/person/meal.

The room was very spacious, the pool areas were well maintained, nice view of beach/sea. The hotel is well located to take public transport into the historic district of Rhodes. The restaurant staff handled food allergies better than we had expected. It is a large property, so sometimes the staff would be hard pressed to deal efficiently with guests when large groups would descend on the front desk or restaurant.

It was a truly relaxing stay with everything you expect from a top class hotel. Spotlessly clean, delicious food and friendly staff. Would definitely return for another family holiday.

Hotel is in front of the beach. we booked the room with sea view. it's really worth: nice sea view, sunset... breakfast and dinner buffet are good. Breakfast buffet is same every day. but Dinner buffet is different everyday. However, for the dinner, if you are man and want to sit in the main restaurant, you need to dress long pants. otherwise, you cannot enter. But if you are a girl, you can enter with shorts. Pity there's no information about this. reception people are cold. it seems that they don't expect you ask any questions. room cleaning is not good. there is sands on the floor, but it's cleaned.

Having been fortunate to stay in other 5 star hotels throughout the world this particular hotel fell short in many respects, & at best could be called 4 star. The half-board option was not fully explained on arrival & after experiencing what can only be described as a "Butinesque" dining hall on our first night decided that we would eat out despite having paid for the additional food. It was only after a week (we were there) for 10 days, that we discovered that if we paid a further €5.00 a head per meal we could dine at other restaurants on the site - which we did & it was well worth it. Ilaysos (where the hotel is) has two or three eateries & bars lots of hotels (but unlike other Greek resorts it is not clear if you can use their facilities) so apart from a couple of bus trips into Rhodes town we stayed locally as to hot to do much else ! Easy to get bus very close to hotel & only 10mins cost of under €2 per person each way. Rhodes town has lots to do such as boat trips - visit the castle etc . Enjoyable holiday but wouldn't rush back in main season, out of season possibly

The hotel is huge and their facilities are very good. However, the amount of lifts it has aren't sufficient for the numbers of people using it as the whole time we were there, we have to wait for lifts going to breakfast as well as dinner. It's not too bad if you're on a lower floor cause you can just walk up or down but not so good if you're much higher up. The hotel is very well kept and the location is good for going into Rhodes as it's only 10/15 minutes away. Fares are ok but if you are looking for visiting sights and doing various tours around the island, it's best to stay in a hotel in Rhodes town as it saves a lot of time waiting for buses to and fro as well as cutting down on cost.

Close to the airport and as close to the sea as you possibly could be. Hotel is situated just off the main road in a region with several other hotels and extremely close to a number of local shops/bars/restaurants. Local beech is a stone one so if you're looking for sand, it's a short drive away. Free parking at hotel with plenty of overflow spaces during busy periods. If you don't have a car, expect to need taxi's to see any of the sites. Pretty quiet area as you are away from the hustle and bustle of the main city. We were on the 5th floor and the room really wasn't as bad as some other reviews mention. They are a bit dated, but clean enough and functional. The sea view rooms have a great view of the sea and sunset. We had half board and the food was pretty good. Enough variety but after a week it gets fairly repetitive. FYI they charge extra for drinks. Pools were really nice and clean. The sun beds get reserved up pretty early in the morning. Evening entertainment in the dome area wasn't for us. Generic family friendly singing/dancing etc. but it gets really humid at night. Internally it's a big hotel, fully air conditioned with lots of areas to relax in to suit different age levels. All together a nice atmosphere and would recommend bearing in mind the reasonable price.

The Rodos Palace Hotel was great! Breakfast and dinner buffet was very good with lots of choices. The staff were pleasant, very attentive and helpful. I would stay there again. There is easy beach access right across the street and some decent tavernas and super markets within a very short walk.

Our stay at Rodos Palace was disappointing to say the least. Upon entering our room, which was extremely outdated, old and musty, my son went to use the bathroom and the handle fell off. I went to the front desk and reported the problem at 2:45pm. At 6 pm, no one had come to fix the bathroom lock and my son subsequently got locked in. After 10 minutes, we were able to calm him down and With help and guidance for him out. I went back to the front desk, with lock in hand and the staff could have cared less. They were directing me from one person to the next. They finally sent me to a lovely woman at customer service desk who reported that the problem had never been reported in the first place. She was finally able to locate someone to fix the bathroom door, close to 5 hours after it being initially reported. I was so disappointed in this hotel and will never recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Rhodes. There are so many other hotels in the vicinity. Don’t waste your time or money on this one.

not five stars by a long way, overcrowded, staff all look miserable, rundown areas. fur coat and no underwear, overrun with very very rude Israelis, definitely not for british, charged extra for everything they can think of. Second time I've been in two years and never again, gives Rhodes a bad name.

Absolutely perfect. My only two problems were the food which was less than what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel, and the public transport (which is not necessadily down to them, yet had an impact on our stay). The room was lovely and great value for money.

Very large luxury hotel that is more of a resort hotel, Las Vegas style, with several pools, nightly entertainment and lavish buffets for breakfast and dinner included.

Amazing staff. They checked if we were fine and happy. They even left a note in the room to check if we were happy. The spa was also great. I love the food. Great!

The staff were lovely and very helpful to all our questions. Our room was fantastic and clean, if a little bit outdated. Heads up that the hair dryer in our room wasn't great for drying my long hair, but it might be better for others. There was a great variety of food and the pools were great, though quite chilly when we stayed! The different services available were great, we used the spa and the guest relations for organising the fantastic tours we went on during our stay. The hotel isn't too far from rodos town either and we got on the bus there, plus there are lots of options for food outside of the hotel if you don't fancy eating in. I would highly recommend this hotel, and thank you to all the staff for your care and attention during our stay, you all made Rhodes a place to come and visit again!

The bar staff were very attentive and very happy and chatty, welcoming conversation but not intrusive. The reception seemed keen to direct you to using your phone in your room to contact relevant departments rather than call and assist you. The room information states 'bar stocked' but remained empty throughout the stay despite asking three times and in a 5star hotel I find it a very big ask of guests to be charged for tea and coffee in the rooms?! Plus the room was always left unsecure by cleaning staff and the plugs in both the sink and bath were broken and were never fixed. We were also ripped off by the hotel by arranging a taxi - we assumed the hotel was the safest option but having spoken with other guests and the local taxi providers this hotel in particular charges for making a call... fair enough but 10 euros on top of the taxi charge!?

2nd Stay in this month, we enjoyed our stay more than the first time!! we travel for business and the best part of this hotel was the lounge at the 16th floor were you can work and enjoy the perfect view of the Aegean sea!!! a very smart concept!! we will return for sure next year!

something different from the other hotels. the new rooms are really exceptional and all the staff was very friendly and helpful. we recommend Rodos Palace to everyone it is a new fresh concept with the Abav2 lounge and the new rooms just perfect!

My spouse and I booked a 3 night getaway immediately following our wedding for a weekend Mini Moon. We stayed in one of the suites at Rodos Palace and from start to finish our stay was amazing. We were greeted with champagne at check in, sent complimentary wine and snacks to our suite, enjoyed complimentary (20 minute) massages), and had access to the hotel's special 16th floor VIP lounge), and enjoyed a private pool. The suites are just a minute's walk from the main hotel building (including the Abav2 VIP lounge), and both the suite and the lounge are fresh and renovated. The lounge specifically is completely new (completed Aug/September 2018) and we felt the love there. The two hotel pools (one indoor, one outdoor) are both clean and lovely. Wonderful staff and service! Good English, competently answered questions when they arose, offered help. Food: My spouse is a 'special' (picky) eater, so I can say with confidence that if she enjoyed the breakfasts 3 straight mornings it's gotta be good! Location: 15 minute cab to the airport, 90 second walk to the beach, 10 minute drive to Old and New Town, and about an hour to Lindos (our only day-long excursion on this trip - we rented a car from the hotel lobby quite easily). I know of friends who also stayed in the non-suites who also enjoyed, and we are happy to recommend the Rodos Palace Hotel and would be thrilled to stay there again! Thank you for helping make our trip unforgettable!

Upon booking I was confirmed a double bed. On arrival I was given a room with two single beds (not even next to each other). When I spoke to reception about this, I was told my only option would be to pay 40 euros per night to upgrade my room. Begrudgingly, I did this and was given a new room with a double bed. What I didn't realise at the time was that the new room was next to the three lifts and all I could hear all night long was the mechanics of the lifts making sleep almost impossible. The next morning I complained about this and was immediately told they would change my room. (They must have known about this issue). So I was now on my third room, which thankfully was a distance from any lift and subsequently quiet. This room however did not have a double bed and I was back to two singles again. I was so tired of changing rooms by this stage, I could not be bothered to argue anymore and gave in. (At least the beds were next to each other in this room). The hotel itself was quite pleasant, but a lot of the staff were less than helpful and at times verging on rude. I expect more from a five star hotel and would not stay there again.
