Vi hade en fantastiskt vistelse på Shamwaris Eagles Crag lodge. Lodgen öppnade i september 2018 efter en omfattande renovering och allt är i absolut toppklass. Allt från vår bungalow som var fantastisk, maten som var 5-stjärnig till servicen som var förstklassig. Vi vill särskilt nämna vår ranger, James, som gjorde vår vistelse till en oförglömlig upplevelse. James bemödade sig ordentligt och tack vare hans envishet lyckades han hitta en väldigt skygg leopard, vilket betydde att vi såg alla big five! Vi skulle inte tveka en sekund att rekommendera Shamwari Eagles Crag Lodge eller att själva resa tillbaka.

We stayed at the Bayete Tented Lodge and it was amazing! Not only the setting and the comfort of the room (big wow factor!) were fantastic, but the service level was excellent! The safaris were really really great! Oir guide Vuyo to be highly praised!! Thanks for everything guys!!

Shamwari was perfect in every way from the beautiful room, friendly, helpful staff to the amazing view of the animals from the river view room to amazing safari experience. Worth every penny!

Amazing holiday of a lifetime. Surpassed all expectations. With outstanding Ranger Dean as our daily guide, with a wealth of Knowledge on all aspects of animals plants and birds. Outstanding food. Couldn’t of fed us enough. With lovely friendly and Hospitable staff.

We had an amazing stay at Shamwari! The game drives were amazing, the Bayethe luxury tent was really cool, and the service was wonderful. I hope to make it back to SA someday, but if not, I will remember Shamwari as one of the most amazing places I've ever stayed.

If you can put up with the 5 am starts to see the animals this is a brilliant once in a lifetime experience. It is not cheap in fact the 3 day safari cost as much as the rest of our SA 2 week holiday incl flights but it is very good. We stayed at Long Lee Manor which is to close soon for a further upgrade!!! The food is excellent everyone on our tour had a fantastic time.

Shamwari really is everything it is cracked up to be. A full luxury experience during which you rarely have to do anything for yourself. Sarili lodge is beautiful and the staff and food are first rate. Our guide was excellent, going out on a limb to provide us with a good experience. He was friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable (though we felt he could have been a bit more forthcoming - it was only on questioning him that we truly began to tap in to everything he knew, but perhaps that is just his style). To top it off the staff prepared us a surprise for our honeymoon which really made it special. We saw a good range of animals, though not all of them. All in all a fantastic experience - highly recommended.

We stayed two nights at the Bayethe tented lodges. Very nice food. Service was great. Game drives superb. Would definitely stay at Bayethe again.

shamwari ist der luxus pur...fängt beim zimmer an und essen und die gut ausgebildeten ranger machen den aufenthalt perfekt. die tierwekt und landschsft ist atemberaubend schön und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. wir kommen wieder!

Great experience in a magical park. The ranger knows a lot about the animals. It was great fun spotting the animals in the bush.

Excellent place. Our ranger “steff” was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Quality of food was unbelievable. Would go again with my family. We drove from Port Elizabeth airport and it was very convenient to reach this location.

Loved every minute of our stay here. Our ranger, Sarah, made every drive we had different and exciting. She knew everything about all the animals we saw and could answer any questions we asked. The rooms were fab and every little detail and luxury was there. The food was so good that I'm sure I have put weight on but was too delicious not to eat it. They have a very talented chef!

Great all round. Only criticism is barbecue is not what we expected. No steaks just low end unexciting choices.

Could not have been made more welcome. Sarili Lodge was extremely luxurious with every comfort you could want ( including thick ponchos for keeping warm on the game drives). Food was delicious and game drives were wonderful. Very knowledgeable rangers who tracked down many animals and provided amusing anecedotes. The number of guests viewing animals is strictly limited which benefits both the animals and us! Lovely sundowners

Amazing time with 5 game drives and knowledgeable,friendly ranger. Lovely setting in large game reserve. Staff all very welcoming,friendly and eager to help. Stay coincided with my wife's birthday which was acknowledged by some wine,a card, a lovely chocolate birthday cake and rendition of "Happy Birthday" by the restaurant and kitchen staff! This was a return visit as we love Shamwari so much.

We had an amazing stay at the Shamwari Long Lee Manor. Staff provided excellent service pampering us and taking care of our every needs and I had definitely put on some weight. The meals were wonderful we sure had one of the best lamb racks and braai dinner with our ranger was fantastic. Our ranger Abel was excellent, knowledgeable and a very humble man. Abel made sure we had the greatest game viewing experience which included chasing elephant herds and lion prides through the raw vegetation. We really appreciated that he shared with us about the different Khoisan cultures. Overall, we had an amazing experience at Shamwari and highly recommend this game reserve to anyone doing the garden route!

We had 2 nights at Riverdene Lodge at the end of our holiday to South Africa and it was a magical experience. From the moment we arrived until we left we were treated so well by everyone at the Lodge.

Stayed as part of our honeymoon or 4 nights. The entire stay from the moment we arrived was exceptional, the service was second to none and all the staff are so lovely and helpful. We stayed in Bayethe Lodge which was amazing. The rooms were great and the bed is absolutely huge. Our Ranger was Rhynhardt, and I can't fault him. He was just exceptional. Such a lovely guy, with so much knowledge, experience and passion. If we go back (which is looking likely) I'm hoping he'll still be there so we can ask for him again. We saw so much on the game drives. So much of that is amazing luck, but I have no doubt that some of it was also down to having a great ranger. I just cannot recommend this place enough!

A fantastic experience from start to finish - wonderful location, lovely staff, large comfortable rooms and great food and amazing experience for us and the kids . Expensive but worth every penny !

Explorer Camp was an excellent experience. Our rangers Jacques and Leon was fantastic. Exceptional value. The reserve was brilliant with all the animals you could hope to see. Hotels.com however need to address their room/hotel/facility description

Eagles Crag was disappointing. Not great value for money. Game drives excellent, particularly if you get Leon or Jacque as your ranger. Room was spacious. No hot water in the afternoon! Went to take a shower/bath after lunch and only cold water. Turn down service poor. Food quality very poor. Do not expect any fine dining. For price paid really expected higher standard than barbecue food. You are EXPECTED and told to take your meals with other residents and rangers, sat beside them at one table, even breakfast! Did not like this at all. When I pay €800 plus per night I expect to eat at the time I am ready and with my husband only. House keeping stripped our bed before 9am on our leaving day, meaning when we returned from breakfast we couldn't even have a rest/lie down until check out time at 11am before our long 24 hour journey home. All of our belongings were still in the room, not even packed up so it was clear we had not checked out. The experience in Eagles Crag is unfortunately not even close to five star. I have previously done a safari that was absolutely five star, service, food, experience etc much superior to Eagles Crag. Would return to Shamwari game Reserve as game viewing, ranger expertise and safari experience were exceptional but would definitely not stay in Eagles Crag again nor could I recommend it

Brilliant location, with excellent service provided throughout. The highlight of the stay is without doubt the game drives, made memorable by an excellent ranger, and being able to view a wide selection of wildlife at really close quarters. Overall a superb experience.

Many people would think that the Shamwari experience is all about the fabulous food, rooms, facilities, & staff. Well all of these things are out of this world, but the real experience is the animals. We were so lucky to have a ranger like Wes, his knowledge, commitment to the job & guests were second to none. The extent that he went too to make sure that we saw every available animal was fantastic. The Game drives were the highlight of our South African holiday.

Empfang, Essen, Betreuung durch den Ranger... alles überdurchschnittlich gut. Wir haben ausser dem Leoparden alle Big 5 gesehen.

Quando cheguei ao hotel meu nome não estava na recepção, quase não consegui entrar, como estava com minha cunhada e a reserva dela estava lá, entramos. Depois de algum tempo acharam a minha reserva e pediram desculpas pelo ocorrido. Não foi a melhor recepção, fiquei tensa, pois me falaram inicialmente que ia ter que pagar a diferença do quarto, o hotel é all inclusive e é um hotel caro, considerado 5 estrelas. Felizmente, como acharam minha reserva, não precisei pagar nada, e me deram uma quantia para gastar no hotel, usei para os vinhos do jantar que não estavam incluídos. O quarto era bem grande e confortável, mas precisando de uma reforma. O ar condicionado estava pingando. Os passeios pra ver os animais (Game drives) estavam incluídos e foram ótimos. No geral, gostei bastante, mas achei o quarto ultrapassado, precisa de uma modernização. Aconselho aos hóspedes ligarem ou confirmarem a reserva por e-mail antes, pra não passarem pelo o que eu passei.

It was such a pleasure to be there. The luxurious tent was very nicely setup -- a fireplace, mini bar, expresso machine, the plunge pool and the private deck. It was just out of this world. The food was awesome! Great compliments to all the chefs. It is totally a 6-star experience. I had the best of fun doing the game drives. The ranger is very knowledgable and we saw so much that it was totally unexpected. The visit to Born Free project was wonderful. It broadened my understanding of what needs to be done about animal abuse or cruelty.

Inspired South African experience. Our trip to Shamwari game reserve created very special memories as we experienced a warm, friendly and truly luxurious three days. The opportunities to view wildlife, flora and fauna was complemented by our professional and highly informed guide. The service from everyone was warm, friendly and generous. This elevated the experience, even though the weather was less than kind.

The whole Shamwari experience was outstanding, our game drive guide was fantastic,and all the staff could not d enough to help. We cannot recommend this place enough, well worth a stay.

We came back to Long Lee Manor for 2 nights and it was totally up to our expectation. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The food is plentiful, the beds very comfortable and the ambience very relaxing. However, the main attraction is the wildlife and the 2 game drives a day, one leaving at 6am and the second at 4pm. The rangers are very knowledgeable and interested in showing us way more than just the big animals. The scenery is stunning and it was a treat to return.

Absolutely stunning location. Rooms fabulous. Food excellent. Organisation first rate. Safari everything I hoped it would be.

Our stay was just perfect, all we had dreamed for. It was our 25th wedding anniversary trip and it hit the spot. Thank you for all the staff who made our stay so special, with special thanks to Jan, our ranger for making our game drives fun and packed with beautiful sights.

Wir waren in der Eagles Crack Lodge untergebracht. Vom Haupttor sind es knapp 20 km auf einer Schotterpiste. Der Empfang war überaus herzlich. Unser Guide Minu war einsame Spitze. Nachdem es morgens doch noch sehr kalt war hat er uns sogar mit Wärmflaschen versorgt. Er hat auch solange nach Tieren gesucht, sie sind ja nicht immer am gleichen Ort, bis er sie gefunden hat. Wir haben die Big Five und noch viele andere gesehen. Auch die Lodge selber war ein Highlight, die Bungalows sind wunderschön, so dass es schon schade war, das man nicht mehr Zeit hatte, sich darin aufzuhalten. Das Essen war hervorragend. Wir würden auf jedenfall sofort wieder hinfahren.

What a magical place to stay. First class accommodation and the staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly. This place certainly lives up to its reputation - everything we hoped for and more. The welcome, the beautiful "rooms" (they are much more than this!), the cleanliness and the game drives themselves. It was an unforgettable experience and one that we would encourage anyone to participate in.

This holiday set the standard for all other holidays...A must go experience ...I cannot recommend it highly enough.The staff were so attentive, did lots of special extras (it was my birthday while I was there they made me a cake and decorated the restaurant), the food was the best I have ever had and we stay only in 5star hotels. The reserve is amazing, saw all the big five and went lion tracking daily. Also do try the spa. It is the ultimate all inclusive (only alcoholic drinks and spa to pay for). We stayed for 7 nights in May 2014. The only thing we would do different is not to fly BA and also to fly into Cape Town and not Johannesburg, and stay there for a few days as well. Thanks to all the staff at Shamwari for making it the best holiday experience and birthday ever!! I am sure we will return.
