Lovely location with great views from the garden
The entrance in to the parking area was on the corner and easy to miss when arriving for the first time.
Everything
Nothing
At the end of our tour of Ireland, we stayed at the Marine Hotel. We booked a standard double room including breakfast for one night (10–11 September 2026) Positives The hotel staff are friendly and helpful The room was spacious with a view of the garden The hotel has its own beach access
Negative The hotel is in Sutton. It’s quite a long way from Dublin city centre. We chose this hotel because it was relatively close to the airport yet in a lovely area. However, there isn’t much to see in the immediate vicinity. Cleanliness is OK (could do with some improvement) Breakfast is OK – don’t expect too much Recommended for a one-night stay if you need to get to the airport the next day.
Great garden to sit in. Excellent location. Comfortable bar.
Service in dining room was sometimes slow due to shortage of staff. The lift did not reach the floor our room was on.
Vriendelijkheid personeel
De kamer was best warm en de mogelijkheid om de ramen te openen (te) beperkt.
Staff were nice
Everything. Has not been renovated for years. Broken down and lack of professionalism. Room was tiny. Bathroom was moldy. Breakfast was bad.stale croissants and dirty plates on the buffet. The place is a shambles abd
The place is beautiful
Nothing
Location was close to Howth. Had large parking lot at the hotel.
Location was close to Howth. Had large parking lot at hotel. Room was terrible, felt like we were in a attic, very small and tight. NO Air conditioning and had to ask for a fan twice. Bathroom was awful and didn’t look clean. Asked for a different room and was told by the front desk that this is the room you get through Booking.com.
Gorgeous room with a sea view
Staff were very busy in bar/restaurant
Great location and friendly staff
Room was smaller than expected after previous stays and not much room to maneuver in the shower.
Location, convenience to transport links, shops and Howth plus very beautiful views. Friendly staff.
Breakfast
The staff were lovely and the hotel backing on to the beach was great for the kids
More milk options needed , they only had full fat.
Location, facilities
A bit pricey for the particular weekend we had to stay, even though there were no big events around. Breakfast wasn't great at all
Fascinating! The huge Garden of the hotel ended at the beach, which had tides! If you get a good price it's lovely to be there take a swim in the pool and just watch the bay! I had a great bathroom!
The stuff was friendly but overworked in parts, so please hire more people! Maybe because it was end of season everything was a bit routine but that also gave freedom to stroll along the garden... So it was a great pleasure. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but then an easy travel trip the centre.
Il est bien situé et en bord de mer
The location was handy for getting to howth where I was doing a course
The bar was closed early as they were working on the floor The wake up calls were late
Albergo incantevole, con giardino alberato, facciata direttamente sulla baia. Tipica struttura inglese inizio novecento, romantica, ben ristrutturata e con tutte le comodità Scegliete una stanza vista mare per un soggiorno super
Tutto a posto
It's a lovely place, we really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was very good. Buffet with choice for all tastes, also with warm food available, fresh. Great view. We all enjoyed the food at the restaurant in the evening. The staff was very nice and helpful, chatting with the children. The swimming pool was appreciated, clean and not busy, the children enjoyed it. Also the availability of towels at the reception to not use our own, and the changing rooms with separate showers and spaces with curtains. The garden and beach are lovely. The room was clean and comfortable. Nice TV. I appreciated the little details in the bathroom, shower caps and products. Also the bath for the children. The presence of the ventilator, it was useful as the room was warm. Very comfortable beds. Very good location to explore Howth.
The wifi was a bit glitchy, possibly because we were at one end of the hotel. Also it might become necessary to have aircon installed, we managed but I can imagine that during very warm weeks it could be difficult for people. It could be good to see if a traffic light might be possible to install to get out of the carpark, it was tricky at times with the busy crossing.
Beds very comfortable to sleep in.
Overall cleaness in the room and especially shower drain blocked and the fact that the Spa area was inaccessible due to maintenance was very disappointing. Would have expected a better experience for the price we paid.
The hotel is improving but the bathrooms need updating, baths are dangerous , Bathrooms need modernization Windows need replacing. Back yard need a load of work
Good location
It’s old, tired and staff are mostly cranky.
Great location for getting to Dublin or howth. Nice views on the waterfront. Friendly staff. Food was good.
The hotel was a little bit dated and the pool was freezing. The kids didn’t last too long in the pool.
Location
Just a bit tired….
Room recently done up and very comfortable but bit warm. Best hotel breakfast I have had in I don't know how long - would go back just for more. Amble parking
Not much.
Großes Zimmer, bequeme Betten
Teppichboden hatte Flecken
The location, beside Howth and Sutton, some very nice places to walk,
The Staff
Perfect
We had a room for 3. It was too small for 3 people.. We couldn't open the window.
We stopped at the suggestion of Tony, our tour bus driver for breakfast and to checkout this hotel which is beautiful! We were friendly greeted by Michael B. Gen. Mgr. who had Stephen sit our family down to a delicious Irish buffet after our flight from US. The gracious hospitality was above and beyond as we say in the US Air Force. This is the place to visit/stay while in Dublin!
Leaving
Room was disgustingly hot all night amd all morning never would I stay again
posizione fantastica in riva al mare
struttura un pò datata
Breakfast didn’t taste fresh
Food a little dry
Stayed here with my wife as we organized a post-wedding get together meal with family and friends. Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish, felt treated like royalty as everything was just taken care of by an exceptional staff lead by Mike. Can not recommend highly enough. Location perfect, rooms very comfortable, food tasty and generous. Thank you
Location
Top level rooms are in the attic with no a/c. 20 degrees hotter that outside
We visited for a family occasion and it was our first time here. The staff were exceptionally accommodating and genuinely went above and beyond to help make the day memorable. Several of our guests praised the staff (Mick in particular) , the venue, and the food. Highly recommended
No air conditioning we left hotel in the mid night Everything dirty restaurant tables hotel smells mold When inwas booking didn’t put attention was a 3 star But we paid and left hotel at 10pm didn’t stay full night
The hotel was in a good location for what I needed. I was heading to Dublin Port so it was handy for that... Bed was comfortable...
The room was boiling hot and there was no way to get rid of the heat. The room had two large windows from floor to ceiling and only one of them had an opening which was really quite small for the size of the window. No Aircon. The heat was truly awful. I barely slept all night.
Für unsere Zwecke ( Howth musik Festival) gute Lage... , gutes Frühstück, Personsl gibt dich Mühe..
2-ter Stock war sehr warm ( schlecht isoliert) nachts
Fantastiskt läge vid vattnet. Bra rum och badrum med skön säng.
We didn’t have breakfast Beautiful location
There was no air conditioning and it was a heatwave, for over 300 euro a night there should be air conditioning
I think the hotel was very lovely and it appeared that they were making an effort to update things here and there. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The rooms were clean. We had a nice view of Dublin off in the distance over the water. The location was excellent for see the area and enjoying the food and scenery.
It was not as elegant as the on-line info would have you believe and a bit pricey for that. I thought I was booking into something more luxurious for the last few days of our trip. The room service in the mornings did not replace the in-room coffee or water or vacuum up the lint that came off the new towels and got all over us!
I had my sons christening party here and it was a lovely day. The staff couldn't do enough for us and the room was the perfect size. Food was lovely too. Veronica was really helpful with the organisation of it all. We will be back for sure.
We had our son’s christening party in the Lynott suite on the 9th of August and we would strongly recommend the Marine hotel. This is an excellent venue for any family party. The food and staff were exceptional with all our guests commenting on the taste, speed of service and presentation of the food. Bar service was quick and no requests were an issue. There is ample parking at the hotel and it was spotless throughout. Food is served late on Sundays as well which is a nice touch. There are plenty of spaces outside and access to a private beach with spectacular views across Dublin. There is a swimming pool but we didn’t get to use it on this occasion. Mike and the team were extremely attentive and made our day a special and memorable day. We would highly recommend this hotel for value and service and we will most definitely be back.
Location is quite good. close to DART station.
Interior is seriously dated. Room was quite cramped but clean and functional
We booked directly with hotel on its official website. Cheaper than all other booking sites. We stayed Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August, 2 x adults in Superior Sea View double room and 1 x adult in twin room (in different part of hotel) We did not book meals with our rooms , or use the bar or pool facilities on this occasion, but have done so previously , and enjoyed without issues. Despite it being August bank holiday period, we had no disturbances and the hotel had a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of families and couples enjoying the indoor and outdoor spaces. On this occasion we had the pleasure of meeting Vaso (Vasem?) on reception desk, apologies for incorrect spelling! He was a handsome , mature gentleman, grey hair and wore spectacles! He checked us in efficiently and despite a little confusion with the booking, he handled it all with good humour and wit! He appeared to be of the old school type of receptionist , he was dressed smartly and had the presence of someone in control and who could handle any issue brought to him. A hotel reception desk check- in procedure can make or break a stay, it is the first line of impression and of what may be in store for the rest of the stay. He made us feel very welcome indeed and when we were checking out he made us want to return. An asset and hope he continues working there! For context, I was born and raised in the area, my parents first met outside the hotel back in early 1960's when a cinema was nearby. I know the immediate area of Sutton, Baldoyle, Howth very well and areas further out such as Raheny, Clontarf (stayed at Clontarf Hotel many times) Malahide, Portmarnock and in my opinion all are jewels in Dublin's crown. Our hotel room was quiet, peaceful , away from noisy vents or fans, it was very clean, with kettle, tea/coffee/milk and a coffee machine, iron/ironing board, and electric fan, bathroom was modern and clean with lovely complimentary toiletries, good walk in shower, and the view from our room window? well book a sea view room and find out for yourself!! you won't be disappointed. If you like to wake to the cry of seagulls and waves lapping this is the room for you! Previously I have stayed in rooms on other side of hotel, unfortunately with the awful loud , constant noise from the fans on the roof , it was impossible to sleep, (my husband slept well though!) I recall the room was newly decorated and spotless but those fans!! terrible view and noise. My son did comment on how noisy the fans were again this time , even with windows closed. He forgot his earplugs, and the chemist across the road was closed, so no harm to bring a pair to be on the safe side. Reception didn't have any when he asked. I believe the fans/air con units on the roof may be for the pool area? not sure, but if I owned the place I would get rid of the swimming pool altogether( and the noisy fans) to make space for more rooms and set up a free bike hire from hotel with packed lunches to explore the area, arrange walking /history tours of the area and surrounds, maybe also put some outdoor sauna rooms ? and a coffee cabin/shack (everywhere has one nowadays!) generating sales from those guests and non guests who use the beach area for walks etc. Paddle boarding is another option maybe? ah sure I'm only raging I didn't have the €10 million to buy it! :-) The hotel has ample free parking, yes , it is old in parts but google its history, its been around a long time, refurbishments are taking place, they are subtle, and its nice to see its not losing its old personality. Exiting out of the carpark if you want to drive straight across to towards Station road is a pain, remember when exiting the hotel car park it puts you directly onto the busy Sutton Cross junction (Howth Road/Station Road). There is no dedicated green-light for hotel traffic (there should be really) anyway, exiting requires creeping forward slowly and watching the main multi traffic lights for all the surrounding lanes, and only crossing or merging when gaps open up or drivers let you out! If its busy, we just take a left and find a safe U turn and come back in the lane that we can go left at station road. My sister was married in the hotel in the early 2000's and our family have good memories of that day, still talk about it. My family have a small cottage 15 mins walk from hotel, and I often stay at The Marine when I am visiting them. I will continue to do so, I hope for years to come. I did not get time to talk with staff on my recent visit or have a drink at the bar, but will make sure to do so next time. Hotels in Ireland at this time and the hospitality industry in general are struggling to find and keep good staff, bar, kitchen, housekeeping etc, it is not easy to get it right all the time and issues will arise. I hope The Marine finds its feet when all the refurbishments are complete and its gets back to the old North Dublin gem it used to be, and hopefully a new generation of guests will make memories there.

Housekeeping were excellent. The hotel room was immaculate throughout the stay. Please send on our gratitude to this team. They were outstanding.
Restaurant and bar service was disappointing throughout the stay. After a disappointing opening night at the restaurant (slow service and mediocre food quality), we did not consider the restaurant for any further meals. Certain bar and restaurant staff were untrained given that it was an issue to order a brandy from the bar on Friday, July 31st. It took two attempts to purchase a brandy which was a red flag. Bar clientele was an issue on the Friday night. A person in the bar (looked to be a non-hotel guest) started to pester us in the lobby on Friday, July 31st. While a bar manager finally did come to escort the individual away, it was not a pleasant experience and we were forced to move to our hotel room. The hotel room (141) was extremely hot. There was a room fan to address the issue, otherwise we would have demanded a hotel room switch immediately. The hotel has massive potential but there are clear issues to address with the bar and restaurant side.
Stanza grande
Struttura che ha vissuto tempi migliori. Da pulire a fondo in particolare moquette decisamente polverosa
The water views of the property were stunning. And the hotel itself was impressive.
The benches out by the water were really old, and one was broken, missing a slot on the seat. And the hotel listed all the great amenities but lacked transparency regarding the lack of air conditioning. I wish I had known before I booked. And the two small windows looked out over a really ugly roof top.
Was there last Thursday the 30th of July for a wedding and I have to say what a day from the minute we arrived and until we left the next day the service was amazing from the staff they went above and beyond the cause about everything we required thanks for everything
Staff very helpful and look after us very well, great Atmosphere at the family wedding, everything was perfect, I recommend the hotel, cleanliness, weather was brilliant, couple had their wedding outside, the arrangement was perfect, I recommend it for a wedding , it was brilliant, thks to the staff and the planner in the hotel he was great
I had my wedding here on 30th of July with just 6 weeks to plan as our original wedding venue closed down. From the second we met with Mike and Cammie they put us at ease and promised us nothing but the best and they did not disappoint. Every part of the day went so smoothly with Mike and Cammie by our side helping with everything and nothing we wanted or needed was an issue. The professionalism, kindness, and help was beyond what we ever could have wished for. We had such a great laugh with both Mike and Cammie and made us feel at ease every second of the day. We got married outside facing the water which was amazing!! The food was outstanding, all the staff where on the ball with every single request and there kindness made this day so special. Mike and Cammie thank you for saving our wedding day and giving us a wedding we always dreamed up we are forever grateful and can not wait to visit ♥️💍 ⭐ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just back from a wedding in this hotel and could not fault it the general manager mike done everything he could to make sure the day went smooth will 100% return all the staff were brilliant aswell
Attended a wedding in Marine Hotel 2 days ago. I was very impressed from the moment i walked in. Staff were very polite and professional. Also welcomed everyone as they walked in. Wedding was outside and the view was unreal. I cant fault anything it was all a beautiful day
We will be forever grateful to this wonderful venue for stepping in when my niece was left absolutely heartbroken and distressed, with only six weeks to go before her wedding, after her original venue unexpectedly closed down. From the very first contact, they were incredibly helpful, understanding and reassuring. They took on the challenge of hosting both the wedding ceremony and reception at such short notice, and they went above and beyond to make sure everything came together perfectly. From start to finish, the service was amazing. A very special thank you to Mike, who I personally dealt with throughout the entire day. He was absolutely fantastic — attentive, professional, witty to say the least, kind and always on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble, and he constantly checked that everything was perfect. His care and attention made such a difference and allowed us all to relax and enjoy the day. We would also like to give a huge thank you to Wayne for all his help and support along the way. It was truly appreciated and to all staff on the day & night . What started as an incredibly stressful and upsetting situation turned into a beautiful, memorable wedding day, and we honestly cannot thank the whole team enough for making that possible. You didn’t just provide a venue — you helped turn a very difficult situation into a truly magical and unforgettable day. We will always be grateful for the kindness, professionalism and effort you put into making my niece’s wedding so special. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We couldn’t recommend you highly enough! ❤️
Absolutely brilliant staff who are extraordinary friendly. I went to a wedding and it was the best service I have encountered. Definitely recommend it to anybody who is getting married!
My daughter had her wedding in Marine hotel yesterday and I just have to leave a review. From start to finish it was the perfect day. I can honestly say we were all so impressed with the management and staff. They all treated us all like it was their own families wedding. They did everything they could to make it a fantastic day for everyone. We had the ceremony outside overlooking the bay and it was absolutely amazing. Thank you all so much for going above and beyond what we had expected. You honestly made our stay and the wedding an absolutely perfect day for everyone
HOT. The rooms are hot, hot, HOT. Weather was fine outside, fine in the lobby, but the rooms were inexplicably HOT. And didn't cool down at night, and we're talking windows open, gulls screaming. If you want a bad night's sleep and a morning dehydration headache, this is the Dublin-area hotel for you.
Absolutely fabulous. My special birthday lunch was a huge success. The manager Mike, camille, Grace, Wayne nick, Paul and all the staff went above and beyond. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was on par. We stayed the night. And all our rooms overlooking the sea were spectacular. Highly recommend this venue for any special occasion. Ellie and Marty
Loved the hotel and the lounge downstairs. The breakfast was also delicious!!
Our room was a bit warm but the staff, who were the sweetest and nicest people, brought us a second fan. We appreciated it a lot!!
Breakfast was good, service was very good.

We had a wonderful stay at the Marine which is my ‘home away from home ‘ whilst in Dublin. The team were extremely helpful and friendly . We will be back . Thank the so much . Sarah
Tha breakfast staff were exceptional
Bedroom furniture was abit tired & outdated. Loud music up to 11pm
Location
