Parador Villas Sotomayor

The place pictured went under. The business moved across the street. We were told they had the same amenities and the staff was very nice but the picture and description I held in my hand had nothing in common. What I paid for and was excited to experience was not what we were offered. The picture should not still be posted!

Great place to Rest

I went on Feb 2024 as a family trip. The facilities are in horrible conditions. The rooms are not clean, the bathroom are nasty , there’s no proper cleaning nor lighting in the rooms. The closet doors are broken and also the windows. The curtains for privacy is peeling off, the setting of the room make it difficult to walk. You cant walk at night, there’s no lights. I have to use my cell phone flashlight to see, that is dangerous and scary. Also not safe. They have a deck in the back where the hammocks are and the wood is rotting away, you don’t even dare to step on it. Not enough staff. Frankly is horrible!

Since I was a little girl, I wanted to stay in this place, it was like a dream I had. As an adult I saved money, made a budget and planned to take my kids where I used to go with my father. I went online contact directly the parador and I booked and paid my deposit over the phone. My flight got delayed on 3/1/24(my day of arrival) by AA the same day and I called immediately, keep them posted about the situation, I let them know I was arriving Sunday 3/3/24, due the airline didn't have available flights. The day I checked out I notice they charged me the two nights I missed due my flight delay, for a total of $351.92. The administrator said that she mentioned to me but with the stress at the airport I don't remember she mention they will keep that $ she said on Sunday 3/10 that by politics I had to let them know 14 days in advance for a cancelation. I never canceled, we stayed, and we paid the total amount due. We paid a total of $1,583.64 for 10 days, when it was supposed to be 8 nights (3/3-10/24). Never received an email with a confirmation. In the printed letter she gave me the day of my check out it mentions only cancelation not CHANGES. Despite the room was smelly, dirty, mattresses and pillows stinks and stained, the living room area from the villa was terrible, the sofa bed is old, smelly and uncomfortable(I had to ask for an extra mattress to place on top for my son and daughter be comfortable), the pool area didn't had any decent chairs to sit and the breakfast food(which we paid in our fee) was very basic we stayed and tried to maximize our vacation. As Puerto Rican I am sad, disappointed these people steeled our money, the service wasn't the best, the road to the villas is full of potholes, and the list goes on... I asked a contact for the parador owner, and she gave me an email, which I am pretty sure the administrator have access to. I filed a complaint with DACO in PR for misinterpreting a contract where it only says a CANCELATION POLICY no changes included. Flight delays happens, is out of our control, it's unfair these people keep our money. Many of us traveling to PR make so many sacrifices to be one week in a paradise that turns out to end in a hell vacation thanks to people like these. NEVER STAY IN THIS PLACE!!! these people don't invest money in this property, their villas are dirty, smelly, they don't clean around the parador and unfortunately the administrator is rude and have cero empathy towards tourists that come from far in PR or US, they care just about you paying them the money and careless about your opinion as a customer. By the way that picture in this page is showing chairs that I never saw or sit. Their website is a huge lie it shows you a 5-star place when in reality they quality is below 0. As a business owner I dislike making reviews like these, but they earned and unfortunately, I had to share my experience, that way other consumers don't experience the same thing. Please AGAIN DON'T BOOK YOUR STAY WITH PARADOR VILLAS DE SOTOMAYOR!!! This place is nothing like it used to be, it's sad and pathetic!

Basic accommodations with limited staff. Town and nearby attractions are great.

Great place to disconnect from everything. The property is well kept. The rooms need some upgrades done. The staff is great.

Areas verdes amplias y bien cuidadas. Escacez de empleados en el restaurante para el desayuno pero el que había fueron muy atentos e hicieron su mejor esfuerzo. Las habitaciones necesitan un poco mas de mantenimiento, mejor limpieza , las losas del baño algunas rotas y otros detalles.

The area is amazing. Some of the staff (i.e. Luz) were amazing and other seems to just walk through the motions. Overall, the place is great but it is a bit dated. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Needs maintenance overall

This property was dirty and unkempt, the staff was unhelpful and unapologetic. The room was dirty, the a/c had mold, the paint was peeling off the wall. We had to buy our own toiletries, even the basic ones like hand and body soap. Nothing was done to resolve the matter. We had to leave and they refused to give us a refund. This place is not suitable to host anyone who expects basic cleanliness.

Our “Villa” was not clean, dead bugs on floors, toilet ring, needs a good deep cleaning. Staff pleasant , surrounding area is beautiful in the mountains. Sunday breakfast was buffet, and not very good. Monday breakfast made to order and good

El cuarto que esta en la foto de la compra no es la correcta.el cuarto es muy chiquito. 2 no hay planchas 3. El baño esta sucio el aguas sale fria con poca presion de aguas. El aire acondicionado no fusionan correctamente y estaba sucio.

I have visited Parador two times before and was satisfied with visit. But this stay was horrible. Nowhere to put your luggage. Other than a glass high top and two minuscule end tables, no place to put clothes. And when I say nowhere, the closet had no bar, and no shelves. Empty. Room was dark, had to use my phone light to read. Last day, no hot water. Only bath towels provided, no wash cloths or hand towels. The staff were friendly and even though they took my complaints, it seemed they couldn’t do anything about it. Good free breakfast and La Terraza nearby. $200 is ridiculous for this place. Don’t come here.

Good place but truly not 5 star… the place is a business operation and it feels like it.. your personal comforts, enjoyment like secondary… I would try another place more friendly next time…

This place isn't what it appears to be at all. The pictures that they post on website isn't what it actually is. The rooms are so outdated!! The 2 rooms they were assigned to us were disgusting. Rooms stunk like urine. It smelled horribly. Furniture all ripped up. Walls all peeled. Microwave rusty. The sofa I didn't even want to sit on on how filthy it looked. Bed sheets were all stained and mattress all yellow. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. And we were here for a wedding. I can't believe how this place will have guests staying in rooms in those conditions. Never ever again will I stay here or let anyone even consider staying here. These people should be ashamed of themselves booking rooms in those room conditions. Absolutely unacceptable and disgusting.

Humbleness!!!! I loved the the humbleness of ALL THE STAFF!!!! Not one set back during my 9 night stay there!!! EVERYONE was just so humble and it was not an act…. That’s just how Adjúntenos are! My wife and I will DEFINITELY stay there again… we actually can’t wait to go back!!! Thank you Villas for a GREAT experience

El parador es espectacular, sus paiajes y todas las area verdes estan bien acondicionadas, tiene una piscina hermosa, al frente tiene un rio espectacular, sus aguas super cristalinas. tiene area de columpios, cancha de baloncesco y voleiball arena, tiene una hermosa terraza pub con vista al rio, paseos a caballos, tienen una mini granja de conejos, nemú, gansos, pony, burro y hasta un venado. Tienen area para acampar espectacular con failidades de baños y duchas limpias. Las villas son sencillas, limpias y prácticas. El restaurante muy bueno y su personal super amable. Y aceptan mascotas y perros de servicio, el ambiente muy apto para ellos. Cosas que pudieran mejorar, iluminacion solar para los caminos o veredas, el mattre del sofa cama, en la villa necesitan cambio urgente no esta apto para utilizarlo. por lo demas, todo espectacular.

Problem with water in the bathroom.

Not hot water. No pressure in sink or shower no service after 8 pm no extra blankets there was A hole underneath the door an bugs an insects kept coming inside

I like the staff, the sound of the birds and nature of life, is so quite and cozy staying away from the suburban. I think they need to improve of building recreation area for kids because the one they have are so old tha any kid can’t get heard also I tink the welcome building need some paint

The stay was horrible, our room smelled, it took 3 days for our toilet set to get changed, We had no hot water! It was the worst experience we had and we stood 9 days ! I wouldn’t recommend this!!!!!!

The rooms could be better cleaned. The breakfast was ok but cold, the oatmeal was delicious. I’m absolutely bothered by the animal section. They are in tiny dirty and stinky cages. They look like they are not being taken care of at all !! And the rabbits !!!! They are in the teeniest cages that they can’t even turn around and are all looking like they are in need of medical attention. Extremely sad conditions

The property is due a face lift and rooms could be cleaner. But the major issue is the inhumane treatment of the animals on the property. Animals in cages they don't fit in. Some were very sick. It was trully heartbreaking.

Our stay was up to and above expectations in every respect. It was our first stay at the Villas but it will not be our last.

Buena experiencia en el parador Sotomayor. Cuartos cómodos, equipados, limpios y privados. Caminando puedes llegar al restaurante o a un bar que venden tragos y picaera en buen ambiente. Lo que recomiendo es que agranden el espacio para los animales de granga que tienen. Tienen espacio de más para hacer jaulas más grandes y cómodas para ellos.

I like the natural space but for a group of more of 2 people the stay will be not pleasant because the bed in the couch is terrible we have to sleep in the floor and this look like the original from the beginning of the place , and if you want to sleep early you need to heard the music from the bar

I love this place. After returning to my home, that's all I think of. What a peaceful and lovely place. I highly recommend it. I want to go back now if I could.

Quiet place for relaxing and resting. Comfortable cool temperatures. Friendly staff. Perfect for stargazing. Sofa bed very uncomfortable and needs replacement. A/C unit had no remote control, so had to call the front desk to turn it off because it was not necessary. Our room was #27.

The place outside is beautiful; our room looked completely renovated for a handicapped guest BUT, it was dangerous reaching for toilet paper in front of the toilet (nothing next to it or on the side) and there was NO phone to contact the front desk to require assistance. There’s always room for improvement.

We had a really nice time. It was beautiful and relaxing. The staff was great. The restaurante served very good food. Would stay again.

Excellent!!

We went as a family of 4 to enjoy the mountains and the chilly weather in PR. We were pleasantly surprised with the facilities, and the grounds which were beautiful, lots of photo opportunities. We lost power for about 12hours but only noticed because we could hear the generator in the distance. I was comforted to see that we were covered with the generator. The villas are nice, they are on the small side considering the amount of space the facilities have, but it does not affect the experience at all as they have all the amenities you need. My only pet peeve is that there are no food/snack options after 8:30pm, the restaurant is closed and there are no vending machines available. Overall we had a lovely time with our girls (ages 3 and 4) they loved going horseback riding, visiting the animals and playing in the playground.

The room was next to the service area when I was offered a “mountain view”. The air conditioner was making a horrible sound, which I mentioned in the counter but nobody went to check it. Also there was no way to control the temperature of the room, and it was very unpleasant for me. It wasn’t a comfortable stay at all.

The landscape is beautiful and staff very polite. It’s a shame our villa was so filthy. Dusty windows, screens and floor. Saturday morning we advised the front desk staff about the aforementioned, expecting they would send maintenance staff to properly clean the room. To our surprise, they just picked the garbage. Yesterday I found a dead roach inside the closet. Very poor lighting in the living area. Lastly, had a repulsive experience, since I found a roach leg in my breakfast. Also, please be advise they don’t have “hairdryers available upon request”! We couldn’t been more dissatisfied and disappointed.

The room is not seal and to many insect was inside and at night time I have bugs running on my face and arms . Also all night was a little seed falling at the roof and I can’t sleep all night . I was with my mother and dad , 75 and 82 years old , very bad place for family , you have to be drunk to sleep in there

Cerca de la naturaleza. Excelente estadía. Todo rico. Excepto la condición del sofá cama. Deben reemplazar el colchón. Todo lo demás les doy A. Gracias a las chicas en el comedor y a Luz. Fue muy receptiva cuando le traje mi situación y rápidamente me ofreció una solución. Debemos hacer más turismo interno mi gente.

The sound of all the animals was different but relaxing. It was a great location near my family which was even better. The breakfast was good and everyone was very nice and hospitable. Nice AC which is good to have especially during the humid days in PR.

The human part was nice. Comfortable and the food was grrat. However, the treatment of the animals on the property (donkey, ostraches, horses, deer) was horribly inhumane. No room to move in cages and standing in their ow feces.

It was calm and relaxing nestled in the hills. It is not the ritz but comfortable and fun for families and couples of all ages.

Wonderful place in the mountains with perfect view and plenty of green everywhere around! The staff was helpful and positive. The rooms were tidy, very well cleaned, having everything needed. The facilities around were plenty, but some weren't open and available as we expected, probably because of Covid and the ongoing 9pm quarantine.

Location is really nice rooms are updated and clean, breakfast was good and the bar drinks. Some of the facilities need work you could noticed some work had started but not completed. The facilities need more lights in the shared areas and some additional activities to do on the premises. Property does not offer pool towels even thought you are renting a " room" some of the facilities are old and deterriorated.

My family stayed there for Mother's Day weekend. It is a nice relaxing atmosphere in the countryside of Puerto Rico. Everybody stayed on the same villa that had 2 bedrooms. The included breakfast was very nice and plentiful. The horseback ride was very enjoyable. Unfortunately bc of the pandemic some attractions were not open but it was still a wonderful weekend.

Disappointed, the villa smell really bad,They change our room but that first experience.....The place is run down, the poor animals in the cages, no space to run. Not worth the money spent. No returning for sure. I try to cancel the next day, they didn’t allowed or want to give a break .

The food at the restaurant was delicious and the prices were excellent. The service was great.

Is a hill country place to connect with nature, good food a good place to enjoy family quality time, nice staff good people and can’t wait to go back

It was a very pleasant stay. Excellent service and very clean.

Small room unfortunately found dead roach in room. Torn towel, no coffee in room but did have coffee maker. No water bottles in fridge. No housekeeping done during stay. Food was nothing to really brag about. Loved surroundings.

Had a nice stay and the views were awesome. Staff was very nice, too. Food in the restaurant was very good and there are lots of amenities. Our AC was missing a remote and then stopped working. TV reception was bad. Our room didnt seem very clean, either. Was expensive for what we got - maybe 50% too expensive.

Everything was great.. the only inconvenience was that directions given on google maps NEVER led me to the Parador. And update is a MUST.

The setting and grounds were beautiful. The cabins were basic and comfortable. The concerning thing to us were the animals (turtles, donkey and others) that were kept in cages that seemed too small.

It is absolutely wonderful! Times are tough and they are still recuperating from hurricane Maria, entire town and center of island is, BUT they are VERY helpful, welcoming. We will definitively be back and recommend it to others. We must support businesses inside the island to get back up!

The place is beautiful,the animals are cramped in small cages;there is pleanty space for larger cages😭
