I have already written a review so you can see, I thoroughly recommended both the hotel and Elounda - we had a fabulous holiday there
This hotel is in a beautiful location and has wonderful grounds. It’s a fair distance from the village but it’s still only a taxi ride away. Staff for the most part are extremely helpful especially in the restaurant and around the grounds. In the bar during the evening staff are rushed off their feet. I booked a “Mythica Junior Suite” with “expansive private terrace”. Note the wording here which is taken from the hotel website today. I arrived late at and was told I had been upgraded. The upgrade consisted of one additional room and a shower cubicle but not the terrace I had hoped and indeed paid for. The room was in fact quite shabby and it only took a few paces in white sports socks to find you’re wearing dirty socks. It took several days, with the initial help of Thomas Cook, to establish that the room I had booked did not exist. Rheee is no junior suite with an expansive private terrace. The nearest thing is a junior suite with a shared private terrace. Huge apologies from reception staff - this had never happened before - it was a marketing mistake and would be sorted. But it hasn’t. It’s still being advertised. So if you fancy a suite with a private terrace this is not the place for you. And grumbles from other guests I chatted to really does make me wonder what in the website does really exist and what is imagination and incorrect marketing. Naturally I complained - but hey I’d been upgraded - not our problem. Would I trust this hotel with another very expensive holiday? No.
The hotel pretends to be a luxury high-end resort but unfortunately is rather disappointing. The general layout is cumbersome, with lots of steps and long walks up and down. The pools are a real let-down: their sizes range between small and very small. Some are in poor state of repair, with strips of paint peeling off the sides. The food is mostly mediocre and the selection of dishes is very limited. Cost-cutting is very much in evidence: the meat is usually second rate (tough, fatty or gristly), the dishes are often tasteless, sometimes barely warm, the fruit and veg selection and the offer of deserts is very basic – the kind you would see in a run-of-the mill 3 or 4 star hotel. Economising on food seems to be the norm in Greek resorts these days, but is still surprising in a five-star hotel. The most inconvenient aspect of the stay here is the stiff formality of getting even the simplest drinks or beverages. You can’t just ask for them at the bar or pour yourself some beer/wine during dinner. Everything has to go through waiters – which can take ages if there are lots of other orders or if the waiters choose to ignore you. After each order, whether at the pool bar or restaurant, you are also presented with a receipt to sign, even if the bill comes to €0.00 (in case of the all-inclusive). What an unnecessary waste of everybody’s time! The staff attitude to guests is very uneven. Some of the employees demonstrate kindness and hospitality, some others seem unable to smile, greet or even make eye contact with the guests. In some instances we couldn’t help feeling ignored or unwelcome. We find this very surprising in a hotel of this standard and a country so famous for its hospitality. A few days after our arrival we received a request to complete an online survey and duly conveyed most of the above concerns to the hotel. Even though we specified our room number there was no reaction from the management and no improvement in any aspect of our stay.
Im staying in the hotel next year and wanted to just appreciate the team at Aquila as they have been so helpful in sharing information about the hotel and travel which is really helpful towards planning our trip next year. The Hotel team are so kind and helpful and really looked forward to my stay. Will be leaving a final review when I come back
Excellent service wonderful food. Location slightly off the main track so go for all inclusive as you can get everything you need on site which makes for an excellent relaxation experience. Staff all professional and friendly without being OTT. Special mention to Nikos for being so friendly and the 2 ladies in the bar (sorry did not get your names) who worked tirelessly always friendly and cheerful. This was our second stay and we will be back!!
Stayed for 10 nights on all inclusive. The hotel lives up to its description. Service is top quality with all staff friendly and helpful. Buffet in the main restaurant was excellent with plenty of choice at all meals. Hotel was quiet at the end of October so no fight for sun beds. Beach area with enclosed swimming area very nice, with a friendly service from the beach bar with drinks and snacks. Poll could possibly do with refurbishment, I found blue paint on my feet after swimming! All inclusive does not include the other restaurants, just a 25% discount. As the buffet was so good we didn’t bother with these. Would certainly visit again.
The hotel I’m afraid is not worthy of a five star in our opinion, whilst elements of the hotel were good, mainly the food in all the dining areas, with a very good breakfast choice, the staff in all the hospitality areas were very helpful and polite, the reception staff not quite so, in fact they were a bit aloof and not particularly friendly, We were in a sea view junior suite that at first seemed nice, with a fantastic view of the sea, but on closer examination it was a bit tired and old fashioned, we reported issues with the cleanliness of the room (after a few days in the room) these were addressed apart from the dirty underside of mattress and bed, the customer service blamed it on a shortage of cleaners, that’s not good enough in a five star hotel. We would of thought that being a five star hotel that guests would of dressed up more in the restaurants , but nobody seemed to bother, we feel there should be a dress code in the evenings , with men in at least a collared t shirt and trousers. The buffet restaurant was a bit of a bun fight, with a feeling of a large work canteen. The Al a carte restaurants were nice and food was presented well. We booked a massage each and while expensive, it was a very good massage. Please be warned that the hotel is quite a long way from the nearest town , with about a 40 minute walk to Elounda along a narrow road or 12 euros each way in a taxi, so eating out of the hotel would prove costly unless you had a hire car. The entertainment in the lobby bar on several evenings was enjoyable and we never had a problem getting a drink. We think the hotel should be down starred to at the very most a four star as it didn’t live up to our expectations we are afraid, we don’t like to leave negative reviews but we felt we had to on this occasion, summing up while some elements were good, it’s not quite good enough to warrant a five star.
Argeo spas ladies Joanna and Eleana, Thank You both for amazing full body massage! Atmosphere and service was perfect! Best recommendations :) Good luck!
Our Yearly Escape to Cretan Paradise — Serenity, Warmth, and Perfection Beyond Expectations!” We have the joy of returning to this adults-only paradise every year, and each time our expectations rise — yet somehow, this five-star resort with a six-star atmosphere not only meets them, but surpasses them in the most beautiful way. From the moment we arrive, we’re embraced by an overwhelming sense of serenity. The calm, the elegance, and the natural beauty of the surroundings make it the perfect sanctuary for anyone seeking peace and rejuvenation. The hospitality and service here remain unmatched. The staff are exceptional — professional, warm, and genuinely caring. Every encounter feels sincere. They have a way of making us feel not just welcome, but truly valued — more like friends than guests. That personal touch is what brings us back year after year. We always stay in the Deep Blue Suite with a private pool, and it continues to take our breath away. Watching the sunrise reflect its magic across the waters is an experience beyond words — romantic, idyllic, and out of this world. It’s as if time stands still and the sky paints a private masterpiece just for you. Every detail — from the comfort of the suites to the top-quality service — speaks of care, passion, and excellence. Each stay gifts us with new positive memories we will never forget, moments that linger long after we’ve left. For us, this place is more than a resort; it’s a feeling, a tradition, and a piece of paradise we can’t imagine missing. Until next year — thank you once again for making perfection seem effortless.
Elana was my therapist and she was incredibly strong and attentive to my needs. Highly recommended, best massage i've ever had.
We had a great experience with Charis! Get the full experience. You won’t regret it. It was one of those full spa experiences
Wow what can I say yet another fantastic two weeks at the Elounda village hotel. To be honest I was preparing myself for some disappointment as I could not see how they could maintain such high standards but again my expectations were surpassed. Excellent food in the three restaurants and really friendly and attentive staff with special mentions for Maria and Elani in guest services, Mustafa at the symposium, Elani and Maria in the lobby bar, Enkeleda at breakfast and Zia at the beach bar. The management should be very proud of their staff selection as it’s the people who are the greatest asset. Wonderful complimentary boat trips and thanks to Maria and Elani for making our wedding anniversary so special again. We will definitely be back again next year for our ninth visit.
Vagelis very professional masseur, This was my first massage and it left a really big impression on me. I am very satisfied with this very much.
I booked this hotel expecting a luxurious 5-star experience, but unfortunately, it fell short in many key areas. It is not on the 5* level of similar experiences we have had with the Mitis or Ikos hotels in Greece. My main issue was we paid extra for a sea view - the hotel description states these rooms are not on the ground floor and offer sea views. The room lacked the promised sea view, which was a major letdown. See photos - the first room we were given was on the ground floor with a view of the lifeguard at the pool - our 'balacony' was part of the main walkway to the pool. As we arrived at 1am we were told we could not change rooms until 10am the next morning when the manager in charge arrived. We ended up losing a day of our holiday sorting out the room - we were told the hotel was fully booked and the staff made us feel we were a bother asking to be given the room type we had paid for! The room we were moved to was only slightly better but still not what I would consider a sea view (see photos). More concerning with the rooms was the old outdated furniture - chipped and tired-looking, far from the polished finish you'd expect at this price point. Dirty marks on the curtains and stains on the floor etc. We were all inclusive with access to the al carte resturants - you have to book for these via the hotel app. When we arrived on day one we were unable to get one single booking for our week long stay - it was only after going to reception and having to complain that we were able to get a table. Service was stretched thin throughout our stay. We regularly waited 20–30 minutes for drinks by the pool, and flies around the buffet food were off-putting. While the staff were friendly, they were clearly overworked. One final warning: the blue pool surface rubs off on your feet and stains—definitely not ideal. Overall, it felt more like a 3-star stay dressed up in 5-star marketing. A few improvements in maintenance and attention to detail could make a big difference, but as it stands, I wouldn’t return or recommend it. Be aware of these points when making a booking. Very disappointed we didnt get the experience we were after.
A careful and competent therapist created a relaxing atmosphere and resolved some deep-sitting tensions. I can highly recommend this spa with its amazingly friendly and skillful staff who turns every vacation into an unforgettable experience.
Perfect massage. The Spa is great, the facilities are amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful and Vagelis and Kostas did an awesome job.
Charis & Maria were amazing in their service. The body heals when it relaxes and I certainly feel healed. Thank you so much for this experience.
Ruhige Hotel Lage, traumhaftes Ambiente mit sauberen Bungalows und erstklassigem Buffet. Sehr nettes und zuvorkommendes Personal. Würden jeder Zeit wieder buchen.
Nice hotel, professional and friendly staff. Food good but not amazing. Room beautifully clean. We had a private pool - I personally think it should be called a plunge pool. Very small but clean and well kept. Resort is very clean. Almost every night had a different theme in one of the 3 restaurants. 2 x a la carte - both very good. Weather was beautiful whilst we were there. Enjoyed our week away but my only quibble is the ‘beach’. This is a very busy paved area which for me was over crowded and didn’t tick the 5 star box.
Very nice 5 star- hotel with great rooms, great private beach, professional people. The food is high quality and fresh. The room and entire resort were spotless . The team is globally pleasant and professional - especially Iro at front desk and Sofia at the restaurant (Always smiling and on top of their game!). The cleaning ladies (rooms 201 to 216) and the guy for mini bar replenishment were awesome also . The only 2 things perhaps requiring attention: the lifeguard of the Infinity pool keeps talking loudly all day long with other employees- not very professional while preventing clients to live a fully zen expérience. The drinks even water are very costly if you have only half-board.
Brilliant and resilient staff! There was a group of entitled and aggressive guests unnecessarily shouting at multiple members of staff at the reception desk and the lady dealing with them handled it perfectly. Unfortunately these guests were being horrible to her and she and the other staff remained professional and polite throughout. Our stay has been lovely, the rooms and communal areas are perfectly well kept, the scenery and access to the sea is great too ( definitely get there early if you want access to the sun loungers). The staff have been warm, welcoming and helpful the entire time, even introducing us to Peaches the cat. would highly recommend!
Amazing massage by Maria and Kostas! We had a wonderful time. It was relaxing, professional and we were rejuvenated Thanks again!
Such a lovely experience with relaxing massage from Elena! Perfect service, personal care, true relaxin and very comfy.
We were already talking about coming back.
The best thing by far was the staff! Always very attentive but the pool, bar, in the restaurants and at reception. I noted that I did not have a preference on Expedia to request two single beds, so I messaged the hotel through Expedia, this message for some reason was not received despite receiving a message. However, the hotel managed to sort a temporary solution and moved rooms after 2 days. The food at the buffet was very good with lots of options. The hotel itself was a little dated, with some rooms different than others. The gym lacked free weights and only had a cable machine and cardio machines, I think that could be improved on. If you don’t have a car it may be a little difficult to get around, though the small town/ village of Elounda is just about walkable. Overall we had a great stay and I would recommend this hotel if your looking to stay in the Elounda area.
This is our second year staying at the Elounda Village, and will continue to be an annual visit for us. The location is outstanding with panoramic views over the sea and equally as beautiful as the photographs seen on their website. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the main buffet served daily has an excellent choice befitting it’s 5* rating. We can only start to begin to commend the excellent and attentive staff. Nothing and no request is a problem, everyone is committed to giving their guests a first class experience. We would like to make a special mention to Maria Dretaki, guest relations manager. Her warmth and commitment is an asset to the company, Maria has been part of the reason we will be coming back to the Elounda Village each year, but I’m sure she makes everyone feel special. The restaurant staff and front of house remain friendly and helpful. If you want a 5* relaxing holiday with fantastic food and a spectacular location, we can highly recommend this resort. With our Kindest regards to the Elounda Village team, Carol & David Nash UK
It was a very pleasant experience. We have a great time and enjoy the magnificent facilities of the resort. We will come back for sure.

This is a lovely hotel built in the style of a Greek village going down a hill to the sea. Our room was modern with a lovely sea view. The buffet breakfast and evening buffet meal in the main restaurant were very good as were the other restaurants. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to make out stay enjoyable.
A fabulous view across the bay this hotel did not disappoint. Great accommodation and we upgraded to the room with a private pool, well worth it. Great buffet breakfast with plenty of choice the alternative restaurants where an affordable treat with an extensive wine list offering both local and regional mainland options. I can recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Stunning grounds kept impeccably and the food was fabulous so much choice. Staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you, I would definitely recommend.
This was our second time at Equila Elounda village and it was amazing, slightly cooler (high 20's) than our visit last July which meant we felt like doing more than just lounge by the sea. We traveled with Jet2 from Bournemouth and stayed in a Deep Blue waterfront bungalow suite for 2 weeks. This is a great hotel, adults only, always feels peaceful, beautifully maintained and just so relaxing. The care and hospitality from all the staff was outstanding, such lovely people who made us feel at home. The location is excellent, Elounda village with boats to Spinalonga, shops and places to eat is a 40 minute walk or a 10 minute taxi. We also went to Plaka (beautiful) and Agios Nikolaus which has lots of shops and places to eat. Taxis are an excellent way to get around and good value. Most days we spent time by the sea, reading, snorkeling and relaxing, lazy but much needed! One day, we did a 4x4 day trip into the mountains, with stunning views and wildlife, a fantastic way to see the real Crete and highly recommended. We had a massage in the hotel Spa with Sofia and Maria, thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing. Evenings were spent eating in one of the restaurants and enjoying the late September weather. We booked a VIP transfer with Jet2 but I'm sure a coach transfer would be fine, just perhaps take a little longer. A top tip is to book the VIP lounge at Heraklion airport for the return flight. Heraklion is due to be replaced by a new airport in 2027/8 and is very run down. It was relatively quiet in September but in July it was hot, crowded and unpleasant. The VIP lounge cost around 60 Euro a head and for us, worth every penny to avoid queues. Jet2 and Bournemouth airport were both excellent, would happily use both again. We can't wait to return which I guess is the best recommendation you could have
Beautiful hotel. Our second visit and the perfect retreat for a couple to relax!
Maria and elina and Vaggelis were brilliant as we're all of the staff. We had 3 treatments during our stay and they were very professional friendly and experts at relaxing us
So many things about this hotel are wonderful . Unfortunately there are some minor frustrating little things that could be easily sorted , but become quiet annoying on a holiday . The rooms, gardens and food are great , and the staff are super friendly and helpful . I would question whether the staff struggle to cope with their workload and how busy the restaurant and bars are , as so many things , like attention to detail seem to suffer. Long waits for drinks to be served . Tables only partly set , with items of cutlery missing ( we had to ask for spoons , forks or teaspoons everyday ) Tea and coffee in your room , but no milk left when replenished, so we had to go down to reception and ask nearly everyday . Other things that seem to cause long queues- one toaster for over 400 guests ! Not enough sun beds by the pool or beach , resulting in guests reserving sun beds at 7am in the morning ! All fairly minor things, but they do tend to spoil an otherwise fabulous hotel
Last day and honestly I think we’ll be back! The location and service from many of the staff make this place pretty special. Ok, it’s not perfect and there a few things that would have made it 5 star (for us!) namely a gym with free weights and maybe fresh bedding every..But anytime we had an issue they were on hand to help or sort it quickly! Other than the suggestion above they really could do With welcome packs! We only realised it had a pool table and darts board for those quieter evenings on our last evening! People lovely! Place lovely and location stunning!
Recently returned from Aquila Elounda following a 7 night break and my first observation is that although advertised as an All Inclusive hotel that is not the case. There are three A la carte restaurants, Mirabello, Symposium and Chef’s Grill. In the Mirabello and Symposium there are some basic choices that are included but the majority of dishes you have to pay 75% of the cost, such as Ribeye steak 29.3 euro or Grouper 8.3 euro per 100grams. In the Chef’s Grill none of the main courses are included, all items are charged per 100gram at 75% of the full price. In the Buffet restaurant the choice of main dishes is limited but the spread of salad and desserts was impressive. They make a thing about the Fish Night and the Gala night, we found there was less fish on the Fish Night than on a normal evening, with nothing like prawns or choice of fish offered. The Gala night was held outside the Mirabello restaurant and was well laid out but the food was similar to the Buffet. The majority of the drinks are also not included and again are subject to 75% of the bar price. There are only two bars, The Lobby bar and the Beach bar. They are never open together, the Lobby bar is only open 18.00 – 00.30 and the Beach bar is open 10.30 – 18.00 which means that if you’re in the hotel during the day there is nowhere, except at the beach, to get a drink ! The hotel is perched on a cliff over the sea and the steps to get down to the Beach bar are steep with more steps that need negotiating to get down to the tiny “beach”. The App (Aquila Hotels) is needed to book any of the restaurants and is useful to see menu’s and get info about the hotel. Taking all the points above into consideration we still had a good holiday, we fortunately booked a Mythica Junior Suite with sea view and had a great room, because some of the other rooms around the hotel looked a bit restricted for both view and privacy. The staff throughout the hotel were brilliant with a smile and good cheer at all times which must be difficult.
Our first visit, but hopefully not our last. The hotel is set on a hillside in a beautiful location. The food is great and the hard working staff, who are all so friendly, can't do enough to make sure you're having a good time and all your needs and wants are met. Thank you so much to everyone.
Incredible experience, Sofia was unbelievable and very attentive to my needs and my treatment requests. Highly recommended experience if you’re in Crete!
Spa treatment organised by Eleanna was a delight. The private spa area at this hotel is a real gem. The Cretan massage with the gifted therapist Vaggelis was really exceptional. A professional and kind person with excellent healing hands. The welcome drink and tea served afterwards were much appreciated. Thoroughly pampered.
I visited the spa today and had a Cretan body scrub and also a deep tissue massage. Vagelis was my therapist and he was extremely professional and the massage was amazing. Thank you so much.
Good points : lovely location with views over the bay, after reading reviews we just had a main building garden view room which was more than adequate for us, it was cleaned every day and tea coffees etc replenished as well, came with private seating area, and it was quiet, we were on half board basis, food was of excellent quality, with lots of choice, It is about a 30 minute walk into Elounda, which we did daily, taxi is now 12 euros, the friendly people at reception will book this for you, we never had to wait more than 5 minutes, not the best road to walk in the dark but easy to get a taxi back from the square in Elounda, On the last day we were due to check out at 11 o’clock, they will keep your bags in reception, we were being picked up at 8 o’clock, unfortunately I was not feeling at all well, so they kindly let us stay in the room until 6 o’clock which was very much appreciated. They even brought some toast up to the room for me. Not so good points : The waiting staff are very quick to clear your plates away sometimes when you haven’t finished and are still holding a fork in your hand, they don’t ask, we lost a bottle of water when we had gone to get dessert ! Also they don’t seem happy if you are not drinking with your meal, you even pay for the water and they will try to give you the more expensive glass bottle at six euros, really feel that filtered water should be available with your meal, you pay enough to stay here, they push the environment message which is good but this is an oversight that needs to be addressed. You are not allowed to bring your own water bottle in to the restaurant either, Any food that you haven't purchased at the beach or pool is not allowed to be eaten down there. The staff at the beach also don’t seem to be happy if you are not buying drinks constantly, not sure if they are encouraged to keep asking you every 30 minutes but can be irritating when you are trying to relax. The sunbeds with the nets in front of them on the jetty over the sea are not free it tells you this on the app which we read, but would be helpful if they made this clearer maybe with a tag on them explaining this, as many times we witnessed people sitting on them only to be asked to move. Shame about these few things as overall it is a nice hotel .
Zimmer mit private Pool war top.
Excellent hotel and staff. Two visits to the wonderful spa with Sofia( brilliant) and Vagelis (excellent) Food and presentation is fantastic
Basic gym equipment/ unable to do weight training - poor gym for a 5star resort. Spa was incredible Dining options weren’t great and couldn’t order snacks to the sun loungers - not even a fruit salad.
I am 47 years old and have had many massages over the years, but my experience with Sofía was by far the best massage I have ever had. From the moment she greeted me, I felt welcomed, cared for, and completely at ease. Sofía has an incredible gift—she combines skill, intuition, and genuine care in a way that is truly rare. Every movement felt purposeful and tailored exactly to what my body needed. She was able to find the perfect balance between relaxation and deep therapeutic work, leaving me feeling both restored and re-energized. What stood out the most was her attention to detail and her ability to create a calming atmosphere. She checked in just enough to ensure I was comfortable, yet allowed me the space to completely let go and enjoy the experience. Her technique is second to none, and her touch carries both strength and gentleness at the same time. I walked out feeling lighter, pain-free, and deeply relaxed—like a brand new person. Sofía is truly an exceptional therapist, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. If you have the chance to book a massage with her, do yourself the favor—you will not regret it!
The massage I had with Sofia was exceptional, I have lower back pain and I asked her to pay attention to it, and she did it was outstanding.
I stayed at Aquila Elounda village from September 16th to 19th. Overall: This is an incredible resort. There is a lot to explore and plenty of options for relaxing. It has 5 star appeal and great staff. This was where I spent my final days of a 3 week trip around Croatia and Greece as a solo traveler so that I could relax and unwind before returning home to Canada. I will share some of the things that did not meet my expectations, but I will say that all of these were addressed by Maria during my visit. I wish I had expressed my concerns sooner because they were well received and likely could have been fixed. Room for improvement: I've attached two photos. One shows the room on the website - and the other is the room I received. These rooms (Mythica Superior Suite Sea View) are both in the same room category, but to me one is clearly superior to the other. Because I booked hoping for a sunny terrace, I was very disappointed when I had a fully shaded terrace that looks nothing like the photos. I was only there for 3 days. Most of the restaurants were booked so I did not get to experience the Symposium restaurant, nor the cocktail making class that I would have enjoyed. Because of this I would have considered not doing the full all inclusive as I ended up going off property for a meal. Yes the buffet is always included and is good, but that's not what I had in mind for my final meals in Greece. Housekeeping does not replace your room glassware, but rather wipes them down and puts it back. I did not find this to be very sanitary. Service could be quite slow. I had read from others that it was great so I suspect that because I was travelling alone I didn't quite get the service that is the norm of this hotel. Removing room service dishes from my room was also quite slow and my plates were left in my room all day. Highlights: I went on a boat excursion which was included. This was the highlight of my trip and such a treat! I loved this suggestion from Maria and it was a very unique experience. There are so many options to lounge around. By the pool, or the beach, a quiet place, or more social, and all types of beds. And no matter where you are you can see the Sea. I've never seen a hotel set up like this. The layout and design are perfect. The Spa. I had a great treatment at the spa and the facilities are luxurious. Many of the amenities are included and appeared to me to be under utilized. Tips: I would absolutely go back to Aquila Elounda with these two tips in mind: If something is not satisfactory - speak up sooner than later. The staff is very responsive. If you're staying for a short trip the all inclusive may not be as beneficial as many things may be booked up and there are no exceptions if you are only there for a short stay. The full value may not be there for a short trip. Thanks and hopefully I return one day!
Lovely relaxing and very chilled spa treatment. The rest area and sauna / steam rooms were very nice to help you relax and prepare before your massage. Sophia was really good, she was very professional made me feel comfortable.
We stayed in a bungalow room. First of all, there is an unfinished, abandoned hotel right next to the property, which completely ruins the view. The bathroom was poorly lit and the room had a constant unpleasant toilet smell. Housekeeping was done very superficially, and towels were only changed every 4–5 days. At the beach, waiters constantly asked “what do you want to drink” every few minutes, and when you ordered, drinks came in small 200 ml paper cups filled with ice. The beach bar offered nothing to eat except toast. Reaching the beach requires going down 250–300 steps, which is another problem. The fitness room was dirty, with cobwebs, hair on the floor, no towels, no water, and very limited equipment. The cable machine was missing handles and the only dumbbell available was just 1.5 kg. Restaurant service was chaotic and the food quality was very poor. We stayed here last year and had a much better impression, but this year it was a big disappointment. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel.
Friendly staff, super clean, room with the pool, having choice of 2 restaurent with half board, both restaurents were amazing
Sofía and Kyriakos were superb. Couples massage was super relaxing. And they worked really well on our problem areas. Highly recommend them.
We had a lovely relaxing full body massage from Maria and Efi. They were both really respectful and considerate, the Cretan massage was amazing! Before we had the massage we enjoyed some time in the saunas and steam rooms and after we enjoyed the swimming pool facilities. We were well looked after at every point!
Finally arriving at 1030pm by hire car from the airport, it is not sign posted on the main highway, anywhere! We were greeted by a lovely lady on reception, who commented about us being late, not rudely, but concerned. A kind chap escorted us to our room (which felt like we were going down to a basement) First impressions, we thought the room was fine, just wanted to get a light snack, there is no welcome pack, no menus, no maps of the place. Went back to reception asked what food was available, as were Half Board and prepared to pay what ever, for room service, just to get a little snack (sandwiches would have been fine) this was about 1145pm but couldn’t find a menu in the room, or any information. We were told could go on the ‘app’ for room service, as no menus, information or maps are provided in the rooms. Everything was on an app? Talk about distancing yourselves from your customer, was this the kind of personal touch a 5* we were expecting, for the rest of stay? Room service closes at 10pm, along with all the restaurants and the shop (which I can appreciate) 5* with no room service? With morning arriving time to check out the room, light in bathroom hanging out, plug in bath not secure and covered in black hair, sealant around toilet filthy, ventilation cowl required sealant around it, gouge marks on bedroom walls near headboard, bedside lights loose. Could do with chest of draws and or a dressing table in the bedroom, the area where tea and coffee making facilities and television were situated was hardly an area you could use as a dressing table, first thing a woman would require. All the issues, of poor maintenance should have been picked up before the room was allocated to the customer, this is a 5 star establishment, according to TUI. Outside seating area was over shadowed by a huge Palm Tree (Room 104) Rooms in main build area, blotted out by over use of trees, it’s as though they were an embarrassment and had to be covered up and not easily spotted from the pathway. We never saw the sun on our patio area, which would have been nice, either end of the day, but a quiet area to sit and unwind nevertheless. The reception, bar and dinning area are beautifully designed and decorated, the grounds are well kept, however, all the seats in the outside bar area were facing the same way, towards nothing in particular except for the smoking area, it was like a scene from a sci-fi movie, people staring into oblivion, most odd. The main swimming pool (this is the one they spectacularly use to advertise as the infinity pool) was ok, not heated and at busy times, could hardly accommodate many people, this was the biggest pool in the complex, disappointing. The map on the app is useless, it’s just a picture with the identification of restaurants and bars, not inventive or really practical. As the ‘Village’ is on a hill, some of the smaller bars and restaurants are on different levels, beware, you cannot use these restaurants if you are Half Board, only AI, unless you pay. This is where the app fails, I’d like to know where the toilets are, maybe best way to get down to the so called beach, what level the bars are on etc. The Village is on a hill, there are many steps and steep slopes, tackling these with high heels to get to the main bar, is going to be difficult and warm. Those with any difficulties walking or elderly, this is not the place for you, not even to get from the main building to the Infinity Pool. Beyond that next door is a not quite built hotel staring you in the face. Half Board; you can eat in the main Restaurant in the main building or pay to use one of the other Restaurants (for AI customers only) Half Board: if you request water to the table you pay for, as are the drinks, though you would expect that. The staff were lovely and attentive, though one of my gripes is, don’t take a plate away if the other person is still eating, I consider it rude, it’s not a fast food outlet, it’s a place to sit and enjoy your food and company. There are signs on your table asking you not to load your plate and not waste food, more signs say how environmentally friendly they are and won awards, yet still supplied plastic bottles of water on the table and plastic straws. Breakfast, has an array of cold meats, salads, breads, cereal, fruit, though not actual bananas, but sliced up in a bowl. The buffet type of hot food are: eggs, poached, fried, scrambled, boiled, bacon, small frankfurter sausages, beans etc. You could even order an omelette, made to your liking. Sounds ok, but there was something missing, the touch of authentic Greek cuisine, a cosiness, all a bit sterile. The Evening Buffet; the salad bar is plentiful as is the desert bar all quite a show, with again, various breads. The food was uninspiring and warm at best, again it didn’t exude much of the Greek cuisine that we enjoy. The atmosphere was that of a shopping mall eatery, with suited people, sternly looking around, bit off putting when the staff were so nice. Best bit was the Gourmet Evening, looked extravagant, with tables set out with different foods on them, but again, not inspiring and not very Greek, same with the buffet food. To cap it all, they had a 1980s chocolate fountain, with various things to dip into it, should have worn my flares and platforms. We ditched breakfast after the third day, the last two evening, the buffet. Instead, in the morning, we drove (hired a car) set up on the real beach enjoyed Greek food from the bakery and coffee, watching the boats coming in and out, absolute bliss. Evening time a cab into Elounda to experience the Greek hospitality and restaurants, this is what was so missing, an atmosphere. The good Greek welcome, like we were long lost relatives, the home made food was spectacular, the atmosphere felt warm and sincere. We had hired a car and drove down to the real Elounda every day to enjoy the beach, the market, getting lunch from various eating places, which never failed in service or good old fashioned Greek Cuisine and just watch the world unfold, relaxing in the warm sun and the charm of the harbour. Our last day, I was clearly struggling with cases up the stairs, one of the staff members were showing people around, clearly ignored me rather than taking a few seconds to either help or get some assistance, never happened. At reception, I took the room card back and announced we were now leaving, we didn’t even receive a “did you enjoy your stay”, or would like help with your cases to the car? totally blocked, how rude. For 5 star, try the Ritz, The Langham, The Dorchester, maybe some lessons for your Hotel management wouldn’t go amiss. If you are Half Board, you will be treated 2nd class, not by all staff, but you can notice the difference. Did I complain? Not once, why? because it was pointless, this was sold on the premise that this was a 5* establishment and as far as the management were concerned that was what they thought. Amazed by the good reviews, really people?
I got a massage in the ageao spas and Kyriakos, my masseur, was incredibly professional and caring. I recommend him 100%. It was one of my highlights of the trip.
I went to the Aego Spa for a massage. Sofia did a really good job. It was a very nice and relaxing massage. I can recomend it 100%
All considered the place is nice and good quality for money but I didn’t get the “5 stars resort” vibe especially regarding meals. Main pros are service (staff extremely nice) and settings (beautiful views and nice location if you have a car). Main con is food. Meals in the main restaurant weren’t great (other than breakfast). Quite repetitive and while some dishes were nice others were below standard. Other negative point is that even with all inclusive you had to pay for most dishes at the other restaurants available (or very limited choices for dishes included in the all inclusive package) but the restaurants were nice, great settings/service and food was good there. You should be careful to the room you pick because apparently there are different ones under the same category… and they are really not the same. However the staff was very kind and helped us find another room more in line with what we were expecting. Views are amazing especially on the sunrise and the little private beach is great even if it may be difficult to have the flexibility to chose between sun and shadow in certain moments of the day. Swimmingpool area is nice but it is very difficult To find available sunbeds if you don’t go first thing in the morning.
We had a fantastic stay at Aquila Elounda Village, and one of the highlights was definitely our couples massage at Aegeo Spa. My partner was treated by Maria and I had Efi – both therapists were wonderful, and the massages were absolutely brilliant. They made the whole experience relaxing and memorable. I would highly recommend both the spa treatments and the overall stay at this resort.
I went on holiday with my friend and the views were amazing, the sea view , the staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked half board and the food was mainly cold and repetitive, they also don’t offer water or drinks during meals and you have to pay for a drink for your meal and not allowed your own drink. Breakfast was amazing , staff really friendly. For the price paid, bare minimum is to offer water for meals. They also offer a room to change for ur flight after checkout which is lovely
Set in a beautiful location, very nice rooms and excellent service. All the people (reception, service, restaurant, grooms, cleaning services) are very kind and helpful! We had a great time!
The hotel is a whole experience not just an accommodation option! It includes everything you need for an amazing unforgettable vacation : super cozy and high quality rooms with all comforts, nice warm vibe, hospitable and incredibly kind crew, tasty food, many pools and beach options, extra facilities for entertainment, wellbeing and fitness. I definitely recommend it if you want a carefree nice holiday :)))
We have stayed at Elounda Village several times in the past few years and have previously described it in other reviews as our favourite place. This year we travelled earlier at short notice at the end of August. The welcome was as usual warm and welcoming on our arrival .Again we chose an all inclusive stay with a Mystica room as usual. Our room 253 after our other rooms was disappointing and appeared to have had some recent decoration and a balcony with a sea view over a rooftop with a tree and no sun through the day.The balcony had either plaster or paint on the tiled floor which made it appear dirty. I informed reception but received no follow up response.Although we again enjoyed our week at the Hotel it appears that the hotel is in some form of transition business wise in regard to its TUI BLUE status. We noticed various staff changes with a lot of younger staff who were all very polite and learning their way.Less fish options available in the dining room this year for non meat eaters.
A very good experience, the massage was really relaxing. We highly recommand this experience. Thanks to Eleana and Kyriakos for their massage skills!
This has been our 12th year staying at this hotel and always look forward to going back. It is a friendly relaxed atmosphere ideal for recharging. The rooms are clean spacious and have spectacular views (i would recommend booking a sea view room) as does the rest of the hotel. They have plenty of amenities and activities if you want to use them. It's located on the outskirts of Elounda, around 30 - 40 minutes walk or taxi's are readily available and can be ordered at reception. The food is excellent in the main buffet and all the Al la Carte restaurants with plenty of choice and is available all day. What makes this hotel extra special is the amazing, friendly, efficient staff in all areas of the hotel from the first greeting at the reception desk to the last drink of the night at the lobby bar who all go the extra mile to make your stay as good as possible. Some staff are especially outstanding such as Eleni who has looked after us for all our 12 years visiting, working in the lobby bar gliding across the floor to greet us with a welcoming smile and taking our order. It is always so good to see her and the other familiar faces when we return and we will be returning yet again next year.
Everything was amazing, recommend going all inclusive
An absolutely beautiful hotel, filled with amazing friendly and helpful staff! On arrival our cases were collected from the transfer bus, as they were brought into the hotel, we were greeted with a glass of champagne to sit and enjoy as we checked in, before a buggy ride with our luggage to our bungalow. You should download the hotel app on arrival, you can use this to order drinks to your sunbed and make reservations in the restaurants. The food in the buffet and the 3 a la carte restaurants is out of this world! I would recommend making reservations to the a la carte restaurants early in your holiday (especially the grill) to take full advantage of them! We enjoyed having a couple of hours to relax in the spa, Kostas and Maria were professional though out the experience leaving us feeling fully relaxed. I would recommend a first floor room overlooking the sea as the views are spectacular, we will be returning again next year as many do! Thank you!
Visit the spa , it is a must …. Even if you have never used or been to a spa please go to this one. They have 3 saunas differing rooms in temperature, 3 steam rooms, showers , a 45 degree room very relaxing great for opening pores. We booked an exfoliating massage and a flow and glow massage and facial lymphatic fluid one ….Beautiful Maria was very good, attentive and friendly we were relaxed and rejuvenated afterwards
Here now for the 5th time, (7th in Elounda) this hotel is amazing. Our bungalow is large and we love our private pools. Bed is super-comfy giving a lovely night’s sleep. The food is delicious and plentiful. There is a private beach and little bay as well as access to the main sea. Waiter service at beach. All staff are brilliant. Maria, our guest relations manager is a delight and so helpful and welcoming. Other staff remember us too from previous visits. Nikos in dining room, Thomas in reception and Tasos who always makes time to help when we need and a friendly word here and there. Manage all the hotel with husband’s electric wheelchair, luckily he can carefully walk down the steps to the beach. The spa here is fantastic too, loads of available treatments and a gorgeous chill-out area with saunas, steam-rooms, ice, private for half hour after treatments, and an indoor pool. Greek night is brilliant, love to watch the Greek dancing! Absolutely wonderful place to stay - running out of superlatives- highly recommended!
We booked the Mythica Bungalow with Sea View and Private Pool. Wonderful view from the room. Disappointing pool - not a pool, it is a plunge pool but clean and inviting. Room clean and bed very comfortable. There is a coffee station, and mini bar. The staff come every day and replace anything you need and turn your bed down for you every night which was such a sweet touch! View of the sea is delightful. We chose half board. The food in the main restaurant is varied and good. Something for everyone. We ate at the Greek night in one of the other restaurants on site and the food was great accompanied by Greek dancing and music. Staff are polite and friendly at all times and very professional. All in all I would say this is a lovely hotel and provides a very relaxing atmosphere for adults only. My only complaint is the beach - and that is a personal preference. I would not call it a beach. It is a jetty area near a bar with music playing constantly. There are too many people all concentrated sunbathing in a small area and it detracts from all the good things about the place. So finally my synopsis is - great hotel, good food, lovely professional staff, comfortable room - the only things that are not ‘perfect’ are the tiny private pool outside the room and the disappointing beach. Would I come again ? No - but only because I would like to sit on a real, uncrowded beach in peace and quiet!
My partner and I have just returned from a wonderful 7 night stay at Aquila. I booked this hotel based on helpful reviews left here. We had a sea view bungalow which was just lovely! A huge clean room, walk in shower, large balcony with a beautiful sea view and a really comfy bed. The room is cleaned daily and the mini bar refreshed daily. The hotel staff are all lovely and attentive and make an effort to chat and make you feel really comfortable and welcome. We were all inclusive which is as so worth it. Most things are included and you don’t feel limited at all. The hotel is in the most beautiful setting looking over Mirabello bay, the reviews are just unreal everywhere you go in the hotel. The beach area is so stunning but we found the beach / jetty area really overcrowded. The hotel says it has a no leaving towels on sun beds policy but all throughout the day there were so many sun beds left reserved for hours and hours. the staff don’t do anything to remove them. At times we wanted to change up our area but there were no available beds on the jetty by the sea but loads of beds with towels on. Staff come round regularly to take drinks orders and there is an easy to use app for ordering drinks yourself. We stuck to two areas and we always managed to get sun beds in these places and we got the sun all day in both areas. There is enough space for everyone. Crete can be really windy in September so bare this in mind. Obviously this is nothing to do with the hotel but at times the winds were 35mph. The buffet is nice but I do feel it could have a bit more variety on hot food. Sometimes it was a bit samey. There could have been more fish and more vegi stuff. The salad bar area is huge with fresh salads, cheese, cold meats, loads of fresh fruit, veg and bread. The breakfast and lunch buffets were also great. I found the lunch to be better than the dinner. Sometimes it could be a little slow to get drinks but it wasn’t an issue. Elounda town is only around 10 minutes away in a taxi. We asked the hotel staff to book the taxi for us and they arrive in minutes, all Mercedes cars with professional drivers for €12. The taxi rank is in the main sea front area and so easy to get a return taxi. There are loads of lovely restaurants in the elounda sea front, Rakomelo is not to be missed! The whole area is so aesthetically beautiful and so worth going to, we went into the town 3 times for dinner during our stay. The area is just so stunning to spend time in. Overall it was a lovely stay in Crete and I would recommended to anyone wanting a relaxed all inclusive holiday at an adults only hotel. It felt like a luxurious stay.
Efi provided a great service, was very attentive. I would highly recommend booking a service at the spa, extremely relaxing.
Fabulous holiday, setting is beautiful, lots of stairs. Spa a treat and great treatment. Thank you efi and maria. Staff amazing throughout the complex
Our stay at this hotel in Elounda was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we checked in, everything felt effortless and welcoming. To our delight, we were surprised with a room upgrade – and wow, what a treat! The room was not only spacious and beautifully designed, but it also offered the most stunning view, making every morning and evening feel magical. The all-inclusive experience was truly impressive. Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and offered so much variety that there was always something new to try. The drinks were fantastic as well, with great options available throughout the day. Whether it was breakfast overlooking the pool, or enjoying cocktails by the beach, the food and beverage service was consistently excellent. What really stood out, though, was the staff. Every single person we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely dedicated to making guests feel special. Their friendliness and attention to detail made us feel right at home, and it really elevated our entire experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers a perfect mix of relaxation and luxury. Between the views, the comfort, the food, the cleanliness, and the outstanding hospitality, our stay was unforgettable. We cannot recommend this hotel enough and are already looking forward to our next visit to Aquila. A huge thank you to the whole team for giving us such a wonderful holiday! Ευχαριστούμε! 🙏🏼
Gorgeous views and truly wonderful food.
The hotel is nicely built on a cliff by the sea, beautiful location, great service, rooms are very convenient. The interior of the common area is beautiful. View is awesome, the spa is the best! The spa is superb, fortunately I had Kostas, he is very professional and the massage was superb!
The hotel was good and clean, and the staff were friendly and very polite. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. However, the room we booked looked quite different from what was advertised – it was outdated and did not include the private sun loungers that had been shown. The buffet selection was good, but the quality could be improved, and guests were dependent on staff to provide cutlery and other essentials. One of the main downsides was that, despite having booked all-inclusive, every time we ordered water at the table (which was kind of obligatory), we were presented with a bill – although the amount was always zero, it was solely for tips - to sign for tips. This happened several times a day and was quite annoying. In our opinion, this practice does not match the standards of a five-star all-inclusive hotel. That being said, we still had a lovely holiday overall and enjoyed our time at the hotel.
Alle sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. Essen und Getränke hervorragend. Wir haben uns sehr, sehr wohl gefühlt.
Efi did the gteat massage. Strongly recommend. A little bit pity thar I can't give a tip with my card. I don't have a cash at all
This spa is very calm and beautiful . Maria was my massagist and she was very proffetional and pleasant . I highly recomend.
We as a family of three, two adults and a 17 year-old have just had a truly amazing week at Elounda Village. From arrival in the early hours of the morning to the moment we left we felt looked after and enjoyed everything the hotel had to offer. Our room was spacious and the maid ensured it was spotless daily and the towels were refreshed daily and the mini-bar was restocked every morning! The food at every service is exceptional and there is always plenty of options to suit all tastes. There are always options to dine inside and outside in beautiful surroundings. All of the a la carte food is amazing and if you are all inclusive you can eat a la carte every lunch and dinner, but the buffet was so good we tended to alternate. Loads of additional a la carte options are also available for quite reasonable supplements. The level of service truly 5*, drinks are brought to you wherever you are in the hotel and can be ordered from your table via the app or by the waiters and waitresses who are constantly checking if you need anything. Eleni and Marie were excellent at ensuring we always had our pre and post-dinner drinks in a timely manner and the service at the symposium restaurant was faultless from all of the team. The entertainment is varied but brilliantly executed by the team, we had an awesome time at the beach party and the visiting DJ catered for all tastes. One night it was a saxophone player, a brilliant great night and even a film night. There are always plenty of comfortable sunbeds and towels available on demand every day . The hotel is based on a cliff side, and so there are steps to various parts including the beach, but they are manageable. There is a small beach but plenty of sunbeds next to the sea and there is a water sport provider on site who we hired a boat from to go exploring. Overall, the hotel, staff and quality of food and beverages were above anything we have experienced before and well above your average all inclusive hotel. Would gladly recommend.
Maria is an amazing!!! If you get a chance book an appointment. Very friendly and very clean . My husband and I enjoyed our couples massage do I strongly advise this place.
I’m reviewing the spa at the Aquila Elounda Village. Wow! It’s so lovely. For €30 you have the whole spa area to yourself for an hour. Saunas, steam rooms, ice, showers, loungers etc. I then had the most wonderful hydrating facial. My therapist was Maria. She is very accomplished, kind, respectful and tackled my wrinkles with gentleness. What a fantastic and relaxing experience. The spa and facial were about €80 combined. A must do treat if you’re staying at the Aquila.
Wonderful treatment in the Spa with Vaggelis. A wonderful hotel, the staff are fantastic, came for 2 weeks for a total rest on a friends recommendation. Excellent choice, people return year after year, I can see why.
Amazing experience, perfect place for a solo trip if you are looking for relaxation, quietness and quality time. The place has amazing views and the staff is very professional, kind and always have the best energy :) I would absolutely recommend this place and I would definitely come back one day. I also had a chance to use the spa services which have been amazing, special thanks to Efi for my massage and facial! :D
Sofia gave me a massage to remember. Highly recommend. I hope to come back again and get another treatment. Thank you very much!
Just had the most amazing scrub and Cretan massage. Vagelis, aka Jesus, found the root of my back problems and has performed miracles! Well well worth including a trip to the spa when visiting this beautiful hotel
Lovely hotel with fabulous views. Multiple pools which looked good but were unsuitable for swimming in. They were purely aesthetic. Tiny beach with limited sun loungers. Sea full of fish & was great for snorkelling. Unable to get a drink without ordering via app or with a waitress even at the beach. Our mini bar part of all inclusive which was not working properly was not restocked despite a request at reception
Fantastic Team..friendly ans supportive.Very nice location with many entertainment activities in the evenings.
We have had such a great week at Elounda Village, especially at Aegeo Spa! Efi was a fantastic masseuse and we were well taken care of with our massage, facial and body mask. What a treat! Thank you!
Lovely week at this gorgeous hidden gem. Fantastic masssge with Sofia. Absolutely 100% recommend the spa session at the hotel.
the best beach layout I have ever seen, the meals are excellent, and thé services in restaurants and bars are perfect, and to finish the view is amazing every days. We highly recommend this wonderful hotel.
Beautiful location, hotel, food and the staff were amazing. Felt very taken care of and the ladies in the spa Alana, Sofia and Maria were miracle workers! Thank you - we felt very cherished and looked after xx
We are currently staying at the hotel and made sure not to miss Mirabella Restaurant. The dishes are exquisite, and the location—right by the open sea—is truly unique. What impressed us most, however, was the outstanding hospitality of Constandinos and Leo, who turned our meal into an unforgettable experience. Their energy, positivity, and warm welcome are unmatched, and I was even treated to a traditional Greek dance! This restaurant is a true gem. Make sure to reserve a table for lunch or dinner, as it fills up quickly
Was such a nice massage , lots of facilities. Such lovely staff. The steam room and sauna room had such cool asthetic to it with led lights.
amazing place 10/10 love it the place is visually appealing, staff are great and massage was excellent. also loved the sauna
I was at the spa with my wife. First we were in a hammam with different types of saunas, and then Sofia and Pfi gave us an amazing massage.
Very nice Hotel for honeymooners. We had the best massage , You must ask for Sofia and Efi😍they’re the best masseuses!!!
I had the most wonderful spa experience at the Aquila Elounda Village. I booked a Cretan massage and it was honestly the best treatment I’ve ever had. Effi, my masseuse, was absolutely amazing – highly skilled, attentive and professional. She worked and stretched every muscle and joint, leaving me feeling completely relaxed, refreshed, and energised. The atmosphere in the spa was calm and welcoming, adding to the overall sense of relaxation. I would recommend booking a treatment here to anyone visiting – it truly enhanced my holiday and was an unforgettable experience.
During our stay at Aquila Elounda Village, my husband and I enjoyed the spa together, and it was one of the highlights of our holiday. While he had an incredible Cretan massage, I chose a body scrub, massage, and an aloe vera body mask with the wonderful Maria as my therapist. Maria was attentive, professional, and made the whole experience deeply relaxing. The treatments left my skin refreshed, soothed, and nourished — exactly what was needed after time in the Cretan sun. I was so impressed with the quality of the products used that I purchased some afterwards to take home. A truly memorable and luxurious spa experience that we would both highly recommend to anyone visiting the resort.
I spent 3 hours being pampered with steam room and sauna, body scrub, deep tissue massage - Maria surprised me with her wonderful ability to mainthe same pressure for the entire hour - and a beautiful 60 mins of facial treatment with masks and massage as well as full body aloe. I walked out glowing!! I feel like I am on a cloud ☆
