Everything. It’s perfect. It’s everything the Amalfi coast pretends to be. It’s absolutely paradise and the staff is lovely, the grounds are lovely and of course we all want to gatekeep this place - in fact, shoo, go away, don’t listen to me, Positano is amazing (I am just trying to keep my spot in this place free). Truly the best service on the whole island. Do take their restaurant recommendation for going into town - we loved it so much we went two nights in a row!

San Montano Resort is an incredible oasis with top notch service and amazing food! The breakfast is even beyond what we've experienced in Switzerland, and other parts of Italy. Also, the 360 views and 11 thermal pools are over the top. We highly recommend it.

The only drawback was the sweltering heat, which did not allow us to enjoy the hot tub outside of our suite. Also, the restaurant service during the evenings needed more service.

San Montano is an exceptional resort and we thoroughly enjoyed our six-day stay. The setting, views and overall atmosphere are absolutely beautiful, and there is a real sense of luxury throughout the property. One of the things I loved most was the amazing fragrance throughout the hotel. It was so beautiful and distinctive that I actually had to order a bottle of the Dr. Vranjes fragrance to take home! The shuttle service to the beach and town is a fantastic facility and really adds value to the stay. Taxis from the resort to places such as Forio, Sant’Angelo, Ischia town and the port can be very expensive, so having the shuttle available makes exploring the island much easier and more affordable. We also loved how organised the beach arrangements were. The beach towels were provided neatly in a bag, and the wristbands for access to the beach made everything very straightforward and hassle-free. These little touches make such a difference and show the attention to detail throughout the resort. The resort itself is beautifully maintained, and many members of staff were excellent and very helpful. We particularly appreciated how apologetic and accommodating the staff member was when there was an issue with our coffee order. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return.

Evening room cleaning: Although I appreciate the evening cleaning staff have a job to do, we found the repeated knocking on our door quite disruptive. There is a sign that can be placed on the door, and perhaps I should have used it, but I had personally told the staff that we would be going out at around 8pm. Despite this, on one evening the cleaner knocked three times. Perhaps better communication around guests’ plans could help avoid this. Welcome amenities: We noticed several rooms on our third-floor corridor had a welcome bottle and fruit, whereas we did not. We assumed this may have been because we had not originally booked a double room with sea view, despite subsequently being upgraded. It would be helpful to have more consistency or clarity around which rooms receive these amenities. Pool service: We found the pool staff to be less friendly and attentive than other staff at the resort. The buzzers on the umbrella stands also didn’t seem to work reliably, meaning we sometimes had to repeatedly ask for drinks. On one occasion, I waited around two hours for a coffee. To their credit, the staff member was extremely apologetic and kindly provided the coffee free of charge, which I appreciated. Housekeeping: The drinking glasses in our room were not replaced during our stay, so I had to ask the cleaners for fresh ones. A small point, but something I would expect to be taken care of as part of the usual housekeeping service. These are relatively minor issues within what was otherwise an exceptional stay. The resort is genuinely beautiful, and with a little more consistency in these areas, the experience would be even better.

San Montano really stood out to us for its excellent communication and service, even before we arrived. The team was extremely responsive and helpful with everything from restaurant and beach club reservations to transfers and spa arrangements. Our transportation from Naples to Ischia was seamless, and both the car and boat transfer teams were incredibly kind and professional. The staff at the hotel deserves five stars for their attentiveness and outstanding hospitality. We also really enjoyed the food, drinks, and evening entertainment. The piano player was especially sweet and even played songs in Spanish for me and dedicated one to me, which was such a lovely touch. One of my favorite meals was the grilled fish with vegetables at the poolside restaurant. Our Amalfi Room was absolutely beautiful—spacious, spotless, comfortable, and with breathtaking views. It had everything we needed and made our stay feel very special. There were just a couple of things that could be improved. We had an outdoor couples massage and were not warned about the mosquitoes, which made it difficult to relax and resulted in several bites, including one on my face. The staff was very understanding and helpful afterward. We also found that the restaurant areas could become quite hot, and having fans available would make dining much more comfortable during the summer months. Overall, San Montano was a wonderful and very memorable experience. The incredible views, pools on different levels and at different temperatures, natural saltwater pools, beautiful grounds, and exceptional service make this resort truly special. We would highly recommend it.

What truly sets it apart, though, is the warmth and genuine hospitality of the entire team. Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. The food was outstanding, the thermal pools and spa were exceptional, and the views are among the most beautiful I’ve ever experienced. San Montano is truly a rare gem, one of those special places that stays with you long after you leave. I can’t wait to return and would recommend San Montano without hesitation to anyone visiting Ischia.

The staff were very attentive particularly in the restaurant and on reception Pool areas were exceptional. Liked you could order drinks from the sun loungers. The shuttle bus into town was really helpful and ran until midnight, very good. Good that towels were provided for the pools.. breakfast was exceptional, best breakfast ever seen and nice they provided it in your room if required . Overall an amazing stay and would return.

The room was small for the money. Drink prices were very high.

My mother and I had the most wonderful experience at the spa at San Montano Resort. We treated ourselves to facials and anti-stress massages with Grazia and Gina, and it was truly one of the highlights of our stay. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel completely relaxed and cared for. The facials were exceptional—our skin looked and felt incredible afterwards, with such a noticeable difference in brightness, smoothness, and overall glow. We were genuinely amazed by the results. The anti-stress massages were equally outstanding. They were so deeply relaxing that we both found ourselves drifting off several times! It was the perfect combination of expert technique and a wonderfully calming atmosphere. In fact, my mother enjoyed her massage so much that she booked another one later in our stay. She said it was the best massage she has ever had in her life, which is about as high a compliment as you can give. A huge thank you to Grazia and Gina for making our visit so special. Their professionalism, warmth, and skill are exceptional. We'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to Antoinetta for all of her help throughout the spa booking process. She was so kind, welcoming, and helpful, making everything effortless from start to finish. We couldn't recommend the spa more highly and can't wait to return.

San Montano was amazing from start to finish. We loved everything about our time in Ischia, and so much of that came down to this hotel. No request was too big or too small, the staff accommodated everything beautifully, and they did it with genuine warmth that made us feel completely taken care of the whole stay. On top of all that, the value was fantastic. For what we experienced, both in terms of service and the overall stay, it felt like we got so much more than what we paid for. We loved the staff, we loved the island, and we loved San Montano. If you're considering Ischia, this is the place to stay.

Nice location and attentive staff in the restaurants. Pool staff could be more courteous. Spa manager and staff are great. Air conditioning in our suite was terrible. We really could not sit in our living room because although something was running in the 4 days we were there it never got cold and bedroom got cool at best. the net is its a nice place but NO WAY a 5-star resort. More like a 3.8-to-4-star place.

The beach isn’t part of the property so you need to get a shuttle (which is free) but the beach is shared with others. Small price to pay to be on top of the hillside with the best views.

We stayed here in Ischia for 3 nights. The amenities and pools were very nice, however the rooms and cleanliness not as much. The rooms were very small and outdated, and we found popcorn being swarmed by ants in our room from the night before.

The pool and the facilities were wonderful. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful.

I felt like there was a bit of nickel and dimming - especially with the pool wait staff. A tip was expected every time they brought a drink - even water! It was quite bothersome!

Beautiful resort. The grounds,pools,thermal pools and layout are amazing,but the best thing about the resort is the staff. The staff is there to help with everything from airport pick ups,ferry arrangements and shuttles into adjoining town. If you are considering Ischia,San Montano is the place to stay.

Absolutely amazing! The facilities, service, pools, breakfast and the transport service to go down to the village was super convenient. Outdoor spa and indoor spa, both perfect. The location is stunning. You can enjoy and relax up on the hill but if you feel you wanna have a coffee/lunch/dinner by the sea you just take the shuttle down. They will take you down any time you want. It’s also walkable if you want.

All was amazing.

We absolutely loved San Montano. Our holiday was a dream with wonderful staff and service throughout the entire trip. They helped us plan every aspect of our honeymoon in ischia. The facilities pool and thermal baths are truly a dream. We cannot wait to return and stay again this time for longer as we felt four nights was not enough. They provided shuttle services to the beach and to the village which we used frequently. We also had a great experience at the spa, 10/10 massages. The sauna and Turkish bath facilities were some of the nicest we have seen in a hotel. Highly recommend this location as it was quiet yet close to all of the great restaurants on the island. They were also able to recommend many places to eat and activities for us to do. The perfect location for a honeymoon. They also make their own olive oil and have beautiful lemon vineyards throughout.

Located on top of the mountain overlooking the town, they will fell over a traditional accommodation in a highly contemporary environment. The atmosphere, especially at sunset is romantic and relaxing. The hotel offer a shuttle to the town makes it an ideal location, away from the crowd, but yet close to everything

Wspaniały hotel, od pierwszych minut pobytu czuliśmy się tam bardzo dobrze, personel przywitał nas miło i każdego dnia wszyscy byli bardzo pomocni i przyjaźni. Widok przepiękny, hotel pięknie urządzony w każdym detalu, czyściutko i pachnąco. Otoczenie hotelu bardzo zadbane, bardzo czysto. Śniadanie przepyszne i bardzo duży wybór, owoce i warzywa świeże i smaczne, chleb bardzo smaczny, duży wybór wypieków i słodkości. Restauracje na terenie obiektu oferują smaczne o różnorodne jedzenie. Przepiękne widoki z każdego miejsca w tym hotelu. Transport samochodem do miasta i z powrotem do hotelu jest bardzo wygodny. Ocena na 10 jest według mnie zbyt niska, chętnie dałabym wyższą. Wszystko dopracowane i dobrze przemyślane w każdym szczególe. Czuliśmy się tam bardzo dobrze i chętnie wrócimy do tego hotelu.

San Montano is as close to perfect as a hotel / resort / spa can get. Staff, facilities, location, restaurants / bars all deserve a score of 11 on a scale of 1-10. The free shuttle into the local town gives easy access to the immediate area. Staff seemed to anticipate our needs and just be there at the perfect time. Dinner was outstanding and served with a panoramic view of beautiful Ischia as was breakfast, which offered both à la carte options and a rich buffet.

Beautiful view, amazing pool options, and new towels twice a day. Shuttle to Lacco Ameno and to the beach. Welcome gift of some snacks and water. Breakfast buffet with many options and without the need to go off-site. Comfortable beds and robes. We also did the massage in the lemon grove and it was really nice. It is outdoors, so keep that in mind when booking if you are comfortable with that. It is also shaded to keep the sun off. The massage was very relaxing. There are some ants and such nearby, but they use incense, I think, to smell nice and keep the bugs away. The staff were all very pleasant and attentive.

The hotel is not close to anything like a bus stop or other destinations. The shuttle goes to Lacco Ameno and San Montano Beach. If you want to go elswehere and explore like the castle, forio, or the mountain Epomeo you will need to shuttle and then bus or taxi. The taxis will add up over time. for example from the port Cassiomicola to the hotel it is about 30 euros. If you want ot explore Ischia I would rent a car or scooter early on because they get booked up. Or, optionally, I would stay somewhere else and then come and stay at San Montano when you are ready to stay put and live in luxury. I also wish the experiences prices were online for us to see. It is kind of a hassle to email to inquire and then have the time difference so the communication is slow, although daily. Also, we ran into when going into the pool they like to set you up with a table and chairs and two twoels each. Sometimes we just wanted to go for a quick swim and didn't need the whole setup but often were asked to wait when picking up towels. We weren't planning to lounge for a few hours just swim for about 30 min. I think there should be a quick option too.

What a magical stay, such an amazing setting and the staff were incredible. Unbelievable pools and an incredible beach just a short shuttle away. The restaurants on the property were delicious too! Our room was so nice and the balcony overlooking the water was sublime.

We spent weeks traveling along the Amalfi coast and this was the most relaxing stay we had. The pools alone were beautiful but never crowded and relaxing. The shuttle into town was very easy and convenient. Breakfast was very good and staff were friendly.

We spent three amazing days at San Montano Resort, and every moment was absolutely wonderful. Our room was perfect — spacious, beautifully maintained, and with a balcony overlooking the thermal pools and the breathtaking Bay of Naples. It was the kind of view you never get tired of. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and we both slept so well every night. Breakfast each morning was an experience in itself. The selection was outstanding — from savory made-to-order egg dishes to flavorful Italian meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, and irresistible pastries. Everything was served in a dining area with a stunning panoramic view, and the service was top-notch. The staff were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help — it really set the tone for the day. The service throughout the resort was truly exceptional. The front desk team went above and beyond to make our stay seamless — from helping us make dinner reservations and arranging taxis to guiding us on how to use the complimentary shuttle to the nearby village. A special thank you to Francesco, who went out of his way to recommend a fantastic restaurant for our last night — a true hidden gem! He not only made the reservation but also arranged our transportation there and back, making the evening completely stress-free. He and his colleagues at the front desk truly exemplify first-class service. And I can’t say enough about the wonderful and relaxing thermal pools. With the plush terry-cloth robes and flip-flops provided by the resort, the experience was pure bliss — the perfect way to unwind and take in the incredible surroundings. San Montano Resort exceeded our expectations in every way — from the beautiful setting and relaxing atmosphere to the thoughtful touches and outstanding hospitality. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already looking forward to returning someday.

We went to the San Montano Resort after traveling to 3 major cities in Italy. We were looking to relax before returning home, and this turned out to be the perfect place. The staff was attentive and friendly. There are a few people I would like to mention. Antonio at the pool was always there for whatever we needed. Also, we had a couple's massage booked by Antonietta and serviced by Grazia and Giovanni. One of the best, if not the best experiences we have had at a spa. The resort is a bit pricey, and the evening meal in the dining room was a little too fancy for us. We like good quality basic food. But this did not stop us from thoroughly enjoying our stay.

Our stay in San Montano Resort & SPA was absolutely exceptional. Everything - facilities, services, restaurant were just perfect. During my visit I have received medical treatments at SPA and would like to express my special gratitude to dedicated staff - Antonietta, Elena and Grazia - for their professionalism, kindness and help. San Montano offers exceptional experience and truly worth every moment and every cent.

The San Montano Resort and Spa has spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding island of Ischia. We had a garden view room which was nice but the bathroom was very tight. Our friends had showers that were the cheap prefab for a five star, expensive hotel. The service was good but not outstanding. Our ferry from Ischia was cancelled due to high winds and we were having trouble trying to get to Ischia despite the concierge at our hotel in Sorrento doing his best to help us find a way there. When I called I was told we would be charged the full price for the stay even if we could not make it. They insisted the we should be able to get a ferry from Naples later on that day. It was a long and tiring day taking the train to Naples then finally getting a ferry. So do beware that if the weather is bad and you cannot make it to Ischia you will still be charged for your stay. The other interesting thing was that when we went to the Sunset bar each evening the waiter kept making a point of letting us know that the tip was not included. We experienced this in Sorrento also at the 3 of the 4 restaurants we went to but never at the hotel or in Umbria. I guess it is because it is a more touristy area and they expect more. The thermal spa was nice but the woman who ran it was very uptight and made us feel very uncomfortable for coming in without a reservation though we had been told earlier if the weather was good you generally did not need a reservation. There were not many people there but we were reminded a few times we had 30 minutes at first then finally 10 minutes. For a five star hotel I think they could be more in tune to the customer’s needs. They did leave a bottle of water in the room each day which was a nice touch. The breakfasts were fantastic.

Great location with exceptional views for both sunrise and sunset. Very good service throughout. We loved that the restaurant staff was very flexible to serve dishes that were not on the menu. The food quality of the restaurant was very good, as was the breakfast.

If you are considering booking a stay here-book it! From the minute we arrived we were blown away by the hospitality and kindness of the staff and the beauty of the resort. The breakfast spread that's included is the best we've ever seen and so delicious. Lunch and dinner were delicious as well. A few of the waiters at both of the restaurants really stood out, including Vincenzo and Benito at dinner. We had a drink and aperitivo at the sunset bar every night and the view is magical. The pools are beautiful and we never had issues getting chairs. The shuttle to the beach is very easy and the beach is also beautiful. They also provide a shuttle into the local town. If you're going to explore other parts of the island it can be a little bit of a drive and the taxis here aren't cheap but it's worth being a little further away to stay here.

The property had a great location on the top of the mountain, with great views of the bay, and sunset. Amenities are amazing, clean, and beautiful, with lots of thermal pools. The staff was very attentive and helpful in all aspects.

€800 a night for very compact 20sqm room. Overpriced. They dont even pick you up off ferry or drop you when leaving. Taxis mug tourists for trip of a few km. Will try to charge €40 from ferry port. World's most expensive taxi ride! We had room 306. It lashed rain on our first night. I went to toilet during night and stepped onto flooded floor. Our bedding also wet where in contact with floor. Next morning, the receptionist said we must have left window open. We had not. She repeated this which completely unimpressed me. She then said she would get maintenance to check room. Returning later, she told us problem was balcony door which maintenance had now fixed. I did not believe her as water was gathered on opposite side of room, balcony door area being dry. No evidence of any repair to balcony door confirmed for me issue is plumbing. As 306 is at the end of the building, when raining, I believe piping cannot cope and water gathers in this room. Was totally unimpressed, it being a 5 ☆ hotel, that there was no offer of any type to acknowledge our flooded room. Had dinner in restaurant on our 2nd night. Pleasant, if overpriced. I had glass of house red. Was in disbelief at how pathetic the measure. I've had Michelin ☆ tasting meals with accompanying wine where measure was bigger. Absolutely an abuse of their customer to charge €20 for such a miserably small measure. When I asked the waiter, he said the owner had specified the size. So, to me, he sets an exploitative tone for the business. My wife used the steam room in the Spa. On entering she stood in boiling water. Boiling water was running down the walls and gathering at the entrance. This is a disgraceful lack of regard for their guests by management. For a 5☆ we found the whole experience very disappointing. We left seeing the place as just a money making machine to exploit their customers. I've stayed in very many 5☆ hotels around the world and that's the first time I stayed in one that didn't even have fresh fruit on offer at breakfast apart from some to make your own smoothie!

Amazing hotel. Wonderful views. Attentive staff. Beads were very comfortable. Food was delicious. Toiletries were really nice. Thermal spa was outdoors and amazing. Beautiful pool. Loved our stay.

Room was small. Not a lot of space for luggage.

My husband and I spent a lot of time looking where we wanted to celebrate our honeymoon in Italy and we’re so happy we picked Ischia and San Montano. The pictures of Ischia do not do the beauty of the island any justice. We have both been to several places in Italy and Ischia is definitely our new favorite. As for San Montano, we have never experienced such a gracious, welcoming, and attentive staff as those at San Montano. Even if the hotel and grounds were not as beautiful as they are, the staff at San Montano would turn any hotel into a five star experience. That also applies to our new friend Kerri, who we were fortunate enough to meet at the sunset lounge one evening and have an INCREDIBLE dinner with at the restaurant. Kerri even reached out to some of her friends at San Montano who set up dinner reservations and a wine tasting. There is no doubt that it is a question of “when” we return to San Montano, not if. So on a cold February night, we’ll be thinking of our perfect honeymoon at San Montano to keep us warm.

We had a wonderful stay at this resort. Myself and my wife have been traveling to the Amalfi coast for nearly 20 years, even getting married in Ravello 16 years ago. We love the region. We have visited ischia a few times on day trips but have always wanted to stay longer. We chose San Montano bay for my wife’s birthday because a friend of ours had their honeymoon there and recommended it. What a location, what views, almost 360! From all the emails with the hotel to arrange some amazing treatments and dinners, to the welcome at the door, the upgrade to the infinity suite (totally spoiling us, how can we go back to the superior sea view, which itself has an outstanding view) the wonderful food, excellent facilities (multiple hot pools) but most especially, the hotel staff, from reception to the restaurant, the lovely accommodation ladies (hotel is really clean), the pool team and of course Antonietta and her team in the the spa (I highly recommend the couples Limonato treatment), the experience was 1st class. There are little details to be noticed everywhere... Its amazing. We loved Lacco Ameno too!! Some great restaurants also down the town and the hotel provides a free schedule (2 mins) up and down all day! We have found our new favorite place in Italy. We will be back!!!
