Good
Comfortable stay. Parking good and free
The hotel itself is nice, staff are friendly, pool area is nice, food Ok ( bit fancy for our tastes in the restaurant) but good quality. But the area is a 20- 30 min walk to the centre or Ortigia where you will find restaurants - most of the area you walk through isn’t particularly attractive. The archaeological park is very near ( walkable) and enjoyable to do. So although I have no faults with the hotel - the location wasn’t the best choice for us
Really nice room, comfortable and high end tech.
Small but clean pool area to cool off in ar the end of a hot day. Room comfortable. Internet not always reliable
The food was excellent. Lovely authentic cuisine, great breakfast and evening meal was fab but pricey. The pool was amazing. Staff very helpful
Great location across from the outdoor museum. Beautiful rooftop bar, pool, and patio. Easy access to town. Friendly and very helpful staff.
agreat spot syracuse..easy location for driving to all the places you want to see. about 20 min walk to the end of Ortigia. plenty to see in the immediate area plus a market and gas station next door
Excellent breakfast and great evening meals too. The receptionists were absolutely super in giving us advice on local transport and visitor attractions. The waiters and waitresses were also very friendly and helpful and very accommodating in explanations and assistance. Highly recommended.
Great location for exploring Syracuse, especially close to the archeological park. Mostly friendly staff and good service in the restaurant for dinner. The room is a decent size, clean and has a powerful shower. The breakfast had a good range of options but the 'hot' food was cold. Would have been good to have some powdered or long-life milk provided in the room for tea, instead of needing to request some from the bar.
N/A
The hotel is nice but is on the norther outskirts of the town in a mainly residential area. I was looking forward to using the gym and sauna but the gym was poorly stocked and the sauna could only be used as part of a spa package minimum of €40 per time so that was a let down and not in the description. Breakfast was very good with a range of choices and the 6th floor pool was nice to have for a late afternoon chill out after touring in the day.
Nice hotel. Comfortable and clean. Great staff. WiFi is not good. I selected this hotel because it advertised high-speed internet which I needed for a business meeting. It was terrible- I could not open some necessary pages. I had Zoom with no camera to reduce bandwidth and the transmission was still “garbled” both ways.
Great staff and good room
The rooftop pool, restaurant and bar were welcoming and staff friendly. Great way to spend an afternoon/evening. Easy walk to Ortigia from hotel so it was convenient to leave our car at the hotel and visit Ortigia on foot.
Clean and tidy and affordable location. Don’t come prepared to be WOW’ed by friendly service though, 5/6 staff including the reception and bar came across as very abrupt and borderline rude.
The staff was very very helpful. Sylvia , Umberto and Simon.
Large comfortable room. Poor space around the pool. Expensive drinks. Poor breakfast. Good position but a bit out from the town.
The property is a little out of town but, there are buses you can catch and its only a 20min walk in. The pool was lovely and the bar staff were excellent! Great cocktails! Beds very comfortable.
Very good hotel: perfectly located, clean and safe. We enjoyed breakfasts on the roof top terrace.
Extremely good location near the archaeological park. Very helpful staff.
Overall this is a great hotel, we really enjoyed being able to use the pool. It is about a 25 min walk to the square but it is downhill. I would stay here again.
Would not choose again and if information was clearer about property and vicinity
Lovely staff, wide range for breakfast including Sicilian delicacies and a great rooftop pool and bar. Quite far out from Ortigia (30 minute walk).
The room was very noisy and felt old and in.need of refurbishment. Every sound from rooms above and on the same floor could be heard despite the room being advertised as soundproofed.
Our room had bedbugs and I was bitten about 50 times. It's ruined our vacation. We spent all day doing expensive laundry rather than enjoying Syracuse. The hotel offered to change rooms but no compensation for the cost of the laundry, suffering or lost time. I'm likely going to have scars from this. It's truly awful. AVOID Update: to rectify the situation they offered loyalty points for a future stay, which I refused. They gave me a refund of $115 instead, which was for 1 night, plus a couple of free meals at the hotel bar. Laundry cost 60E plus several hours in the heat. Not worth it.
Within easy walking distance to train station, historical ruins across the road and ortigia old town 15 minutes walk very quiet hotel and very helpful front desk staff
Very friendly staff and convenient location.
Absolutely superb staff from top to bottom
Great stay. Directly across the street from the archeological site and about a mile from the old section of Syracuse. The only thing it lacked was onsite, self-serve laundry facilities. Great roof top pool
Very large room. Excellent breakfast, courteous staff especially Umberto
Beautiful beach and view!
Hotel appears relatively new. Room was clean and the bathroom spacious and well-appointed. There was limited free parking onsite, which was nice. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is a bit off centre - about a 30 minute walk to Ortigina - which can be good, because it was quiet, but also not excellent when it's really hot. The staff was generally helpful - except in one instance when the bathroom ran out of soap. We asked for it and it took them two days - out of a four day stay - to deliver it. Not the end of the world, but not impressive.
good food, pool, but gym facilities were outdated and the hotel was a bit older in reality than what appeared online. A solid 3* nonetheless, not 4.
Great location—across the street from the archeological park. Somewhat of a long walk to Ortigia but worth the effort. Several nice beaches in east driving distance.
Fantastic
It was a haven among the traffic & noise of busy Syracuse. We loved our stay there
We enjoyed our two-night stay at the hotel. It was clean, convenient and very close to the Greek ruins. The staff was helpful with directions and travelling advice.
The Mercure hotel is quite modern and fairly comfortable. The staff was very helpful as well and there is a nice rooftop bar. It is pretty far from the attractive part of Siracusa, and getting there required a 20-30 minute walk. Not a huge impediment but something to consider.
Location was great ,well designed, fabulous breakfast
6 min drive or 10 min nice walk from the Old town. Big, clean, comfortable room . Free parking. Nice pool on the roof
Not much to look at from the outside, but this is clearly a higher-end property. Well designed and spacious rooms. Great breakfast.
Staff was very professional. Breakfast was good. It was very easy to enter and leave the parking area. It was in walking distance of many iconic Siracusa sites.
Professional staff.
Very nice hotel! We would stay again!
The people at reception were friendly and helpful and thankfully (for us) spoke great English! Umberto aka Bertie went above and beyond for Jackie and me. We asked him for and he made recommendations and reservations on our behalf for restaurants in Ortigia for both nights we were in Syracuse. And, he called taxis for us, too. We were very happy with his selections and his kindness to us. It made for a wonderful stay for us. Thank you. Marsha
Good location close to the Neapolis Archaeological Park. Free outdoor parking
very well located and overall a great hotel. pool size was smaller than expected. Nice bar and restaurant areas.
Great hotel. Very near the archaeological park and museum, as well as the catacombs and a supermarket. Excellent breakfast and nice rooftop pool. 20 minute-ish walk to Ortigia.
Everything was positive. One slight drawback for some might be it was a little dated and from the outside a boring building. Everything else compensates.
Great location near the Greek theatre and ear of Dyonysus. Great breakfast. Nice view from the pool. Not long, but possible to swim short laps. Ortigya which you should visit is only a short taxi ride away.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are spacious, clean and beds comfortable. The swimming pool looks bigger than in the picture but it was still pleasant to use after a very hot day sightseeing. The breakfast buffet was good too.Hotel is perfectly situated next to the Greek Theatre but quite a long way from Ortigia centro, but worth the walk as Ortigia is stunning.
The area around the property is run down, has a very good gym for a hotel and else was fine.
First impression was not good, we thought we were in the middle of nowhere. However soon found we were PERFECTLY located. Room very small compared to many other 4-star and staff not willing to change but we got over it and made-do. All in all a good experience,
Location good for Greek thaetre and Roman Amphitheatre, although they were both disappointing. Room was small. Restaurant on 6th floor was a bit chaotic at breakfast time but choice was ok. Free parking was a bonus. Reception staff very helpful. Disappointed in Syracuse but Ortigia was very nice.
I love to use spa and fitness in the hotel. It was great facilities! All staffs are super friendly helpful. However I hate to say that the cleanness standard needs to be raised up! While we are staying, seems like they never vacuuming. Bit disappoint thing is bed sheets. I could find out someone hair or eyelashes... At least you can use sticky cleaner to clean couches and bed sheets and duvets.
Very clean, recent hotel. Right beside the archeology center. A little far for the old town 25 minutes walk or 15 Euro taxi ride.
Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful, great service and nothing was too much trouble. Room was spacious and clean. Roof terrace and pool was nice during hot weather. Eating options around the hotel were very limited although hotel restaurant was good if you don’t want to walk down to Ortega.
Spent 3 nights here, good place to stay in Siracusa.
Stayed with family including 3 teenagers. Good location. Right next to archeological park, san Giovanni catacombs and museum. 15-20 minutes walk down to Ortigia. Very helpful staff. Clean modern hotel. Roof top pool and sun area. On site free parking was great relief.
Close to city center, reasonable price, excellent facilities - pool, bar, restaurant, friendly, professional staff
A clean, efficiently run hotel with nice facilities and very friendly staff. Only quibble was the smoking policy. In the interests of hygiene and health of non-smokers, smoking should not be allowed in any part of the hotel where food is served. Eating and relaxing in the roof-top bar area was spoiled by the inconsiderate behaviour of smokers.
A clean, comfortable chain hotel directly across from the entrance to the Archaeological Park. Easy walking distance to the Ortygia and a very good fish trattoria.
Good location for archeological park and museum. Also great to see greek theater productions in park. All are walkable from hotel.
Very clean hotel with modern ,well appointed bathroom and comfortable bed. The room could have done with an extra chair in it though,a double room (only one). Polite ,friendly and helpful staff throughout.,Good buffet breakfast arrangement ,nice choice and very fair price. If you have your own transport there is plenty of parking around and about, if you don't, like us, then you have to be prepared to walk to see Ortiga (the old town) (busses did not seem to operate at a good frequency during daytime hours). There are good restaurants around and about but they take a bit of looking for, the Hotel's restaurant opens Monday to Thursday for evening meal which is good.No problem with this hotel at all ideal for 3-4 day break if you are moving around.
Perfect location. We walked to the archeological places. It’s also all downhill and easy to walk to Ortiglia. We took a taxi back for just ten euros. Tv is in the mirror! Just use the remote. They gave us free parking. I’m convinced we got the best deal here.
Very pleasant hotel, across from the Greek Theatre. Breakfasts were very good, and so was the swimming pool
Really nice full service hotel, even laundry. Great location right across the street from the archaeological park and a quick drive to Ortygia. Off the street parking. We would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend.
Was a problem with my booking (miss communication) Got a free upgrade due to this. Room was very comfortable and clean. Service was fantastic and front desk staff very helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. Not far from many sites. Took me a while to find the T.V ( Its in the mirror lol ) Would stay again
We stayed at the Mercure Siracusa for three nights. Reception staff very helpful, room perfect and the breakfasts were excellent just sorry we couldn't stay longer.
When we first checked in the two men at the counter continued a conversation before acknowledging us. Once they finally looked up and helped us they were helpful. THe hotel is across from the ruins but not much in the area. We like to walk so didn't mind walking to the sea and restaurants 30 minutes. Service was great. We ate late at the bar area and the staff was extremely friendly. The breakfast was included and was ok. It consisted mostly of pastries and no egg options. The pastries were very good and staff friendly.
The hotel is conveniently located if you are using a car. It is close to the main road connecting you to the highway, and also within walking distance to Ortigia and other sights in Siracusa. The walk to Ortigia is about 30 - 40 minutes (they will tell you 20, but don't believe it) to get into the center of the town, and it's not a difficult walk. Nearby you should visit the archaeological park which is right across the street (do it early in the morning), and at least one of the catacombs which are only a 5 minute walk away. And there is a gas station and supermarket within one block. Breakfast was plentiful and good food, so you can fill up before you start your day. Everything was clean and worked very well. The room was very comfortable.
This is my second attempt at sumbitting a review - apparently the mobile phone application did not work; sorry if this is a repeat. This hotel was perfect - friendly, helpful staff, generous and delicious breakfast, a good healthy walking distance from the center to work off the gelato and pasta. We would stay here again, definitely. The onsite garage parking was good and secure.
Wonderful staff, updated sorroundings and overall structure, near Ortigia
Good standard with comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Next to the archaelogical park and 20 minutes walk to Ortygia which are both beautiful. Hotel didn't offer car hire so arrange before you leave. Pool on the roof is an added bonus to relax at after a long day sight-seeing.
Clean bright, free car parking fantastic service lovely staff and great roof top pool.
The hotel offers a good standard of accommodation. The rooms are not large but are modern and well appointed. There is a rooftop pool, bar and dining area. The barman was particularly friendly, welcoming and an asset to the hotel.
Only difficulty was the tight parking spaces but we managed.
I stayed here for ten days on holiday exploring Syracuse. Some aspects of this hotel were excellent, namely: 1) The staff were all friendly and helpful; 2) the room was spotlessly clean; and 3) the air conditioning worked perfectly. However, I have some complaints! 1) I had opted for a deal with breakfast included in the room rate. When I arrived, I was charged 10 euros a day extra for breakfast. 2) I had specifically selected this hotel because it appeared (from the grossly faked photo on the website) to have a proper swimming pool. When I arrived, it turned out to be not much more than a toddlers' paddling pool, only fit for a goldfish to manage any decent swimming. 3) The hotel doesn't offer a proper dinner menu, and since it's situated the other end of town from the tourist night life, there isn't much alternative choice. But once again, full credit to the wonderful staff!
Clean, comfortable with effective ac! Very nice rooftop bar and pool. Good base for a visit to Syracuse as long as you don't mind staying away from the main bar and restaurant area of the town (which we didn't). Free car park although a bit snug and an adventure to get in and out of. Recommended
A lovely, modern hotel within walking distance of the old town, and directly opposite the Greek / Roman ruins. Excellent facilities and friendly staff. A lovely place to stay!
The hotel is very nice and the staff is very helpful. The pool is also great. The bed was very comfortable. However, be aware that they will not refund money for any reason. We were in Sicily when wild fires took out the train route to the entire eastern board and this forced us to make some changes. I did not attempt to cancel ,my reservations, just move my three nights. So I booked a fourth and asked for the last to be cancelled when we arrived and they would not do it. Expedia takes its cut up front so they lose money if they accept a cancellation. And the ad says "Free Cancellation." THIS IS NOT TRUE. Also, the location: the hotel is a two minute walk to to the Archaeological Museum, which is excellent, and the archaeological park, which is also excellent. However, it is a twenty-five minute walk to Ortigia, the delightful old city, or one can take a bus for two euro, but those are not air conditioned and are packed on the weekends. Next time we will just stay in Ortigia. The new part of the city is devoid of charm and the restaurant in the hotel was the most expensive and least memorable meal we had the entire trip.
Good location for visiting the Greek Theatre complex. We used the local bus to historical centre due to the extreme heat. Pool was great. Staff were very helpful and friendly, thanks to Umberto at reception and Andreas at the pool bar. Would highly recommend staying at this hotel.
Comfortable room, great care taken with cleanliness. Restaurant staff in particular were professional, friendly and always willing to accommodate special requests. Would definitely stay there again and have already recommended it to friends
rooftop pool was nice to enjoy a relaxing afternoon after a day exploring. TV was nice with ability to connect to Netflix
We chose this hotel as it is right in the middle of the archaeological area of Syracuse. It's away from the touristy Ortigia so there aren't as many restaurants close by, but breakfast is excellent and the hotel bar is no pricier than the local options. All the serving staff speak good English (our Italian is sparse) and are attentive/friendly/helpful/hard-working. We spent many evenings on the roof with the pool and bar. This was our first trip abroad so we were somewhat daunted but everyone was really friendly, helpful and understanding. Sicily is an amazing place, and Syracuse doubly so.
Friendly helpful staff. Hotel comfortable and pleasant with rooftop bar and pool. Close to archaeological park and museum. It takes about 25 minutes to walk to all the delights of Ortigia
Excellent dinner restaurant and rooftop pool. Not close to Ortigia but walking distance to Greek/Roman ruins
Loved this hotel, great staff, best buffet breakfast in all of Sicily. Recognized my husbands birthday when we checked in, gave him voucher for free drink, next day staff sang to him - lovely. Highly recommend this hotel, great views, nice pool, across from archeological park. Nice
A nice hotel in walking distance t the Greek temple and the archeological museum. Parking facility. Good breakfast and spacious rooms. Also possible to walk to the old city if you are a walker.
The hotel was in a good location of a Sicily for what we wanted to do. The staff were all helpful and kind. The swimming pool is brilliant and you get the most amazing views all over.
Enjoyable stay, having the pool was great. As advertised, friendly staff and very helpful.
We stayed in the hotel for 10 nights in September and would stay there again. Large comfortable clean rooms. Excellent friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was good with a wide choice. We had a couple of good evening meals there but the evening menu is quite limited. The hotel is easy to find and well situated near the Archaeological Park and only a 10 minute walk from the main part of town. Parking was free but occasionally full. Small swimming pool on the roof and a health spa underground (which we didn't visit as not included). All in all we enjoyed our stay.
Access to city sites by bus and walking makes this a great location. Driving in and out of the Ciy because of the location is very easy. So drive to the city park your car free and have a great time.
Nice hotel, good condition overall, room was clean and cool. Thought it was a bit far out of Ortigia (bit of a trek on foot, need a taxi or a shuttle bus if you can figure out which one). Pool was just OK to cool off. Hotel is on the right side of town for the Greek Theatre, and oarking was very tight but a relief to have.
Nice hotel, well located close to the main atractions
The hotel is walking distance from the archaeological park. It has secure parking and great views from the roof top pool and bar. The staff were incredibly helpful - they called our car hire company for us and helped us sort out a puncture repair.
Near the Neopolis Archeological Park,a must see visit, also near to Archeological Museum, the coin collection is fantastic (I'm not in to coin collecting)and the lady in charge of this area was also tremendously helpful.Ortigia the old town is a 30 minute walk from the hotel, great to walk to in April/May but a bit hot in July/August!!! Hotel near to hospital so lots of ambulances and sirens along with loads of commuting traffic outside the hotel on the main road, after saying this the rooms are well insulated for sound and have air con, roof top pool a bonus with sunbathing loungers. One or two local restaurants near hotel that are good and also good bus service into Otigia every 20 mins (or so)make sure if you hire a car do NOT to use Golcar, they are a set of pirates!!!they are cheaper than most but they will stiff you for extras if you are not careful. Otigia full of narrow interesting streets, good views, little restaurants,YOU MUST try the Scilly Fast Food Fish and Chip Shop, fantastic, you can eat out side, mixed fried fish to order with fantastic chips, wine, for two about 15 euros, about a third what you would pay and as good if not better than some of the restaurants!
The hotel was close to the Ancient sites. Not many restaurant in the vicinity but were recommended to one by a member of staff which was excellent. Service was a bit hit and miss but overall it was a pleasant stay.
Friendly staff, nice rooms and bathrooms. Not a whole lot to do in the neighborhood though. Parking could be less tight, but considering location, it works well (for compact cars). They also have a nice breakfast spread (€10 if not included in your rate)!
