Lovely castle, good food and drinks, nice spa, large and comfortable room
I imagined more walking trails
Garden suite was really nice and comfy and really good WiFi
The food not we had an evening meal could have made better at and breakfast was stone cold .
Beautiful and private
I paid and was excited to stay in a castle and got put in an outside building. I should have been given an option for the price I paid.
Great jr suite.
Booked a second room...too far from us. She was a senior who needed less walking ea time to her room
Excellent service, got engaged that day and received a special upgrade, will definitely be back, thanks again
Beautiful location and a truly remarkable stay! Our experience from the check in to checkout was nothing but outstanding. We look forward to returning in the future!
The castle and surrounding grounds were beautiful! I enjoyed the couple of hiking trails I found. Breakfast was excellent as well!
Everything! Room was fabulous, breakfast was fantastic, a great choice - literally everyone was catered for. Location is stunning!
We loved everything!
The large spacious room and gorgeous bathrooms. The grounds and gardens are beautiful
Nothing
The food, service, spa, everything about the location and hotel is exceptional
Room was exceptional and staff professional and friendly.
Nothing to dislike
Shae was excellent and very helpful. The Cedars restaurant food was excellent. Room size was good. The welcome was great.
We had to request our room to be made up at 5pm. Out of a 3 night stay we only had one turn down service. The breakfast was average and could have had more variety. The steam room wasn’t working. The castle tour by Michael could have been more engaging and interactive.
Beautiful!! Loved every second!
Staff was awesome. We had a minor medical issue leading to some mattress damage and the staff was great in assisting us.
Room was a bit smaller than I expected. We were also right at the doors ot the main building
Lovely hotel and surroundings, quiet place, staff was friendly. I asked for an oat latte at the reception it was before 6 o’clock in the morning and was served with one. It was amazing because I get up early.
Spa. It was outdated and kind of far from the main building. Also the hot tub was for 2 people, but they still took 3 of us and charged for 3. Never informed us that their hot tubs are for 2 people.
Beautiful venue ina beautiful setting
The hotel itself is a beautiful building and the historical talk at 1100 was wonderful. The breakfast was very good.
The junior suite was very average. The sitting room was almost unusable due to the TV being hard mounted on the wall but not facing the seating. The first floor room was on a main hallway next to the front desk and was very noisy especially late at night and early in the morning. Especially for the very high price the junior suite was unimpressive.
Un bel emplacement au calme et un beau jardin Un excellent petit dejeuner Des équipes professionnelles et serviables Une grande chambre propre
Un tres grands hotel tres industriel avec des kilometres de couloirs interminables
The castle was gorgeous and the grounds were immaculate and beautifully maintained. Every single member of the staff was professional and friendly, especially the bartender in the lower bar who made me the perfect Old Fashioned. The food servers in that same bar were wonderful ( the food was great too!!), and the man who chatted us up at the front door for us and people at the check-in desk all made us feel so welcomed. And our room was amazing!! The room was outside the castle in the old stables, I believe, and although you had to get a little wet when it rained, it wasn’t a problem (hotel provides umbrellas). We stayed in room 255, which was very spacious. I would request the same room again next time. Just perfect!
Can’t think of a thing.
Breakfast and dinner were great. Lovely menu in the Cedars restaurant. Were totally surprised with an upgrade to the Donegal suite for our anniversary which was a very nice gesture. Staff were all great and friendly. Will definitely be back.
The Castle and its surroundings were beautiful. The breakfast was excellent enjoyed it very much.
What was disappointing was the facilities in the health and wellness area. There was no cold shower when you came out of the sauna or steam room. The hydrotherapy show was out of order also. And no cold drinking water out of the water fountain. The steam room in the swimming pool area was also out of order. Also the room we had was a courtyard room so there was two ways in and out of the room. But one of the doors wouldn't lock because it was warped. Just not expected from a 5 star hotel
Everything amazing

Classy and beautiful property
Some rooms were not air conditioned during a heat wave. Fans were provided.
The Hospitality was great, a lovely atmosphere
My wife and I stayed in the courtyard room 154 and there was no heating on in the room. It was cold all afternoon and evening, we where given a portable heater which slightly helped....😤
We were greeted by Shea. He was absolutely delightful and very helpful. The rooms were clean, beautiful, and spacious. I will definitely return someday.
A great experience for families looking for that real life fairytale.
Cancelled dinner after seeing the 1970 add on. No air conditioning for the price paid. Refrigerator not working, called and supposed repair still not working. Saunanot working, breakfast salmon inedible, pancakes from package. Business model for tourist buses but Harvey’s way better. Stayed at redcastle the three days before. Same thing. Taken advantage of. All employees great, owners are the issue. Trying to take advantage of any revenue stream while saving cost without thought of actual experience.
Was a con job.
Staff were lovely - particularly Shea, who started our stay off in the most incredible way and instantly made our kids feel so special. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed walking through the trails and gardens.
Gorgeous hotel, excellent facilities, beautiful grounds. Very good breakfast
We arrived at 15:00 expecting a smooth check-in, however we were told the room was not ready and had to wait an additional 50 minutes to receive the keys which was not easy with 2 young, tired children. When entering the room, it initially looked very nice, however, when I went to open the sash window, I saw a dead bluebottle on the window cill which would lead me to believe the room wasn't fully cleaned before our arrival, this was particularly frustrating considering we had to wait 50 minutes for our room to be prepped. We chose to eat in the Fr Brown Bar and both our evening meals were cold when they were served which surprised and disappointed us as we were very hungry and was naturally expecting first class food.
The bed
Bar food terrible
The staff in lough eske are comparable to nowhere. They go above and beyond to make you feel so welcome and comfortable! The hotel itself is beautiful with stunning gardens and the location is great for a base to go explore the south of Donegal.
It was very hot in our bedroom but again with the style of room and the fact the hotel is old it was going to be. There was a fan out in our room which was very thoughtful but of little relief I'm the hot weather. Not something that the hotel could help.
Absolutely gorgeous and the breakfast was outstanding
No air conditioning
The room and bed was very comfy. I appreciated the water, the big towels and the fan as the room got warm. The salmon and eggs on Guinness bread for breakfast was delicious. The planting in the gardens was beautiful and we loved the board walk down by the lake where we stood and watched a heron. The staff member who helped us with our bags and taking us to our rooms was a delightful older gentleman from the area - he does you proud.
the service at breakfast was slow. Had to ask three times for our coffees as we waited and waited for our order and then nothing appeared - far too many staff not taking the initiative but they were very pleasant. The broken slats on the blinds need fixing and the shower could do with more power but these are very small things. The signage for parking and hotel reception was not obvious from the back car park. I don't need to wear a tabard on a bike as I am not a toddler but it's great that you have bikes.
As always a perfect stay, staff very friendly, food was excellent, room was large and very well presented.
Absolutly nothing.
Friendly. Welcoming. Exceptional setting and accommodation. Excellent food.

Meeting Bernard with the horse and trap
No air con in bedroom . Distance of bedroom from reception or dinning room
The grounds are stunning. The staff were all really lovely. The food and drinks were fab! The pool was great and it was lovely to have bikes to cycle.
It was lovely having the bikes but it would have been better if you could take them off the estate and cycle into town or around the lake.
Lovely stay at Lough Eske, staff were so friendly and accomadating, such a family/toddler friendly place! Horse and carriage experience was brilliant our toddler loved it.

Very good breakfast and lovely staff.
Air conditioning needed in the function room.
Breakfast and dinner were great. The room and view was luxurious. Staff very welcoming and attentive.
Nothing
Breakfast was excellent; lovely staff
The setting and cleanliness
Poorly signed and organised, camel trek to the rooms, staff very young and not fully trained
It’s amazing! Staff ( Shea, Michael, Gabrielle, Davin everyone at the front desk and restaurants) were so hospitable and welcoming. The castle and grounds are absolutely stunning! I just wish we had more time to spend there!
Everything was great! My only complaint is that it set the bar too high and now everything pales in comparison to!
Food and service for breakfast was good.
The entire visit could have been better.
Beautiful hotel and fantastic food and great service
We came in the back entrance and there wasn’t any signs for the front and main parking lot
Lovely location, and breakfast was very nice.
How clean it was
Großzügige, sehr gepflegte Anlage. Große, schöne Zimmer. Sehr gutes Essen, reichhaltiges Frühstück. Sehr freundliches, kompetentes Personal
Nichts!
环境优美,设施豪华,服务周到,很有乡间城堡酒店的韵味!
同伴的房间抽水马桶是坏的,不过通知前台后很快来维修了,但对于5星级酒店出现这样的情况似乎不应该。
Property was very nice and spa was great!
Rooms could have been a little more updated/upgraded but we understand it is a castle so there is limitations on what can be done
Mr OShea in the evening was very knowledgeable about the castle/history/etc. very nice person, Staff was very nice The grounds were quiet and friendly and clean The room was great, comfortable, huge bathroom
staff and the new spa facilities
in a 5 star hotel you don’t expect to pay extra for use of the thermal suite - it does feel more like an excellent 4 star than a 5 star overall- the afternoon tea was very small
Castle was nice - restaurant staff were great. Extra large room.
The shower door glass didn’t go all the way to the floor so water goes all over the bathroom floor which I cleaned up every morning. Bad design. Also the bathroom mirrors need more light!
Everything! Meals were delicious beginning with breakfast having a huge spread and dinner with plenty of choices. Rooms were beautiful, clean, spacious and quiet. Entertainment at the The Father Browne Bar was enjoyable. All the Staff were friendly from check-in to waiters to housekeeping.
Courtyard room is a let down, its falling apart steep stairs to climb, alot of money for this room, way over priced. Food was a let down again. Also room was ready but reception never notified us. Fathe4 browne open. Breakfast is awesome tho.
We had a great check-in, with bags being taken to our room (very nice). Breakfast was first class. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean and classy. Loved staying in a castle.
