I loved the beach access. I also liked maintenance and clean up, they cleaned up the rooms. I also liked the food and the staff.
The drinks weren’t atrong and really sugary. The floors in the lobby smelled like sour water and I saw it was because they weren’t changing the mop water.
The staff interaction with guests
That you had to pay for laundry service and wait 48hrs to get it back
It was very clean the suite was nice
Tv didn’t work one elevator no room service and villa was far for me walking while pregnant also you didn’t have access to the other properties on the resort unless you paid to come over
The staff was great. They were very helpful and friendly.
I didn't like the fact that there was no room service. There also was no transport to rooms that were not close to the lobby. I didn't like that at most of the restaurants reservations had to be made.
The breakfast was great. Location was good for us. We got a lot of steps in during our stay.
Our room safe did not work. Our toilet intermittently ran for no reason. Maintenance could not fix the safe and did not address the toilet.
The staff was very nice
The men made you feel Very uncomfortable
Conveniently located near the airport, smooth check-in and check-out, delicious food options, great entertainment! Everything was wonderful! I would definitely recommend!
Drinks were a little watered down but that's expected at an all inclusive resort.
Very beautiful area
My room had a broken bed, two beds pushed together and it wasn’t the view we asked for. Being that we traveled far we were too tired to complain so just sucked it up.
Everything was great! The staff, food, cleanliness was excellent!
The only thing I had a problem with was the furniture needs to be updated. Appears to be outdated
The activity team they interact with the customers every day and they knew names of the guest
The roaches Crawling in the dining hall on the tables The dust in the room on the headboard and around the baseboards The food was good
We had such a wonderful stay! The staff was incredibly friendly and always attentive to our needs, making us feel welcomed and well taken care of throughout our entire visit. The waitstaff was especially attentive and provided great service, while the activity hosts were so much fun and brought great energy to the experience. The food was also good, and we really appreciated the variety and abundance. There was always plenty available, and we never had to worry about there being a shortage of options. Overall, the wonderful staff, great service, fun activities, and plentiful food made our stay a truly enjoyable experience!
One area that could be improved is the soundproofing. The walls seemed to be a bit thin, and at times we could hear other guests being disruptive in the hallways during the middle of the night. While we understand that the behavior of other guests is not necessarily within the resort’s control, better soundproofing would have made the stay even more comfortable and restful.
The food was excellent and fulfilling.
No room service available
Everything staff super friendly and helpful drinks were good def a party hotel just not the best tasting food
Food wasn’t the best tasting
Location is great the entertainment staff as excellent and house keeping and front desk very responsive
The property does not offer any food after 1030 just snacks. Doesn’t add up to a nightlife club that you can drink 24/7 but not eat. Also alot of teenagers which made options for older adults limited
Great party
Low quality
Everything
No elevator and i was on the 3rd floor
Swim up bar
The food needs a little more work
The activities were all entertaining. The pools were clean.
The staff was not friendly. Most of them had bad attitudes and appeared annoyed if guest asked questions, especially in Rose Hall.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at RIU and our experience was amazing! We enjoyed the activities/entertainment. The swim up bar was the best pool area in our opinion! However there were several pool options to choose from. The property also sits on a beautiful beach. The property is maintained well with a nice variety of dining facilities and bars. We ate at the Sofia, the steakhouse as well as the Kuhalarium (seafood restaurant, I believe this is the name!) and enjoyed each! We had no problem booking a reservation even with it being a BUSY holiday weekend! All of the staff we encountered were both friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff were especially efficient, keeping our room clean and bar stocked. We will definitely seek to experience other RIU facilities in upcoming travel ventures!
Nothing not to like besides a weird, disgruntled lifeguard!
Liked the staff, the atmosphere always a party vibes, like the drinks especially the BoB Marley.. food was ok, love the salmon at the stakehousd chefs kiss
Did not like the behavior of younger guests in the lobby not kids because its a adult only resort, and staff or security did nothing...
The staff was amazing!
The food no plantains. Reservation kept being booked for restaurants. The pools too small. The rain!!!!
The food was great along with the ammenities and entertainment
The foot of my bed was broken plus the room wasn't modern enough also I was waiting to be served at the pool bar and the staff stood before me talking obout vybz karetel and completely overlooked me as if I wasn't there and that was a major turn off
They have plenty of delicious food, entertainment, and the atmosphere was very pleasant
Well, there’s nothing I can really say that I didn’t like about the place. It was great to me.
I like everything,
Nothing
Everything was perfect
Pool opens too late and close too early
The staff was very friendly, the grounds were kept up well.
This establishment states Adults only, however, it’s over saturated with 21 and younger, that don’t know how to handle their liquor. The beds are very hard, the room decor is very old. The food is not the best. With all these things wrong, the price to stay was way too high.
The staff was really nice, we got plenty of laughs. There was plenty of food options and drinks. The staff remembered us each day and it felt really welcoming.
Didn't like the fact that additional fans were not available. The air didn't get cool enough at night cause be not to sleep well. Also, the credits you get from booking aren't really great because you can't use them.
Everything I had a great time omgggg the best
Nothing
Easy and accessible. Very spacious
The pools. We’re too crowded. O
Large property Quite a few activities
Need more vegetarian options Responsiveness to issues in the room was very slow There could be a walking track around the property which was sadly missing Could you not think of a singles meet event to enable solo travelers to meet?
Hotel Property: It is gorgeous! Very clean. Very hospitable. The fact that you walk outside and the beautiful beach and ocean is right there was amazing. 10/10. The staff is really nice. Always asked if there was anything they can help with throughout the hotel. Horace in the dining area. Amanda at the pool bar. Our booking.com host that helped check us in! Ask for her! Everyone was nice. Excursions: We actually received a call to our room from Sheila asking us did we want to review Excursions since we booked through booking.com. she was so nice and everything was catered to what we wanted. It didnt feel like a sales pitch or anything. She maintained poc for any questions, concerns and followed up with us when she saw us to ask how things went. We went with Chukka Sandy Bay 10/10 Bars: FANTASTIC 10/10 Food: its buffet style and hours of service are important. The Sports Bar saved us a few times with the patties, nachos, sandwiches, hot dogs and they're open 24/7. Room: comes with 4 choices of alcohol provided and refilled every 2 days. Stocked fridge of waters, pop, beer etc that is a part of the all inclusive. The best part of my room was the incredible view of the ocean! What a view! We faced the other riu property which was fun to people watch and relax.
Room: The room itself left plenty to be desired and I'm only referencing the bed and the need for me to call an exterminator. I was there for my birthday and it was my first time in Jamaica so a little extra hospitality would have been nice especially since I added the note to my booking. We found a small gecko in our room and a couple of days after that a much larger bug came out of the closet on to my bed. Windows are open throughout the hallways and it's a resort so some things are to expected but the bug was too much. The sheets weren't the cleanest despite asking for new linen change and the room to be cleaned. I had an allergic reaction to the blanket that was on my bed so there were some things left to be desired. Also I noticed that a keepsake I had on my bed was no longer there after I asked for new sheets. Probably rolled into the sheets and blankets when service was being completed. Food: its an all inclusive with plenty of restaurant choices but you have to make a reservation first and 48 hours ahead of time through the RIU app. Ask to be shown how to use the app and where to see your reservations. If you do the buffet a little salt and pepper goes a long way bc the seasoning was lacking.
Breakfast was ok but not better than other places the lady making omelts was very good and Jahymerewas the only server that give great costumer service
The TV didn't work in my room for my whole stay and since the first day for someone to come and no one ever came I didn't like to be put in a room with no type of view of the beach or the pool it was
Beautiful place. Amazing staff. Very clean rooms, pools, beach, restrooms. The food was good had a little bit of everything. They have like four other restaurants, which were also great, within the facility apart from the main buffet. Entertainment was fun. Had a great experience and will definitely go back !
I don’t have any complain.
The location is close to the airport and right on the beach. The staff was quick to help with the issues that were happening.
The property was a outdated. There were issues with the room upon checking in. Plumbing issues the toilet overflowed into the bedroom on first day , no blankets, the tv was broken. 2 of our three rooms couldn’t be checked in until hours past the check in time. The food was not that great. Almost everyday the pool bar got shut down for one reason or another. The dinner reservations need to be made days in advance. We stayed 4 days and could only get one reservation.
The staff was very nice and helpful
The pools closing at 6:00 at an all adult resort Having to bring your own luggage down from your room when your abt to depart
Cleanliness & the staff was very welcoming. The room was clean and spacious for my liking. The food was really good and I like they had a variety of things to choose from. They did serve American and Jamaican style food throughout the course of my stay. The location is really close to the airport making it really easy to commute back and forth.
I really do not have any complaints about the hotel. We arrive earlier that expected. Our check in time wasn't until 3pm, the staff welcomed us to utilize the pool and bar while we wait for our room to be ready.
This is thr perfect party resort.
Nothing.
Beautiful location, excellent and always abundant food. The variety of food, pools, drinks, entertainment provided was very impressive. We felt very safe and relaxed throughout our stay.
The housekeeping was rather invasive, knocking in an insisting way to ask if the room needed to be cleaned, even rather early in the morning.
Have stayed many times at the Riu Palace Las Americas and have genuinely loved it, so I was confident booking here would be wonderful as well. Boy was I wrong!!! I know it’s Jamaica and reggae is popular here, but this is not the Riu Reggae. 90%+ of the music was reggae and most of the rest was hip hop. Virtually no pop music. They seem to cater only to younger people of color here. Also the a good portion of the entertainment staff and hotel staff are snippy and not customer service oriented. They wouldn’t even let me use a small blue tooth speaker at the pool before the entertainment music started. People around me were enjoying the music I played, yet they still told me I couldn’t use the speaker.
Would have been a great review had we not faced the awful experience of bedbugs in this resort. Avoid Room 0003, block 1. Headboard full of bedbugs, found on floor and in bed. We’re covered in bites and now managing the stress of trying to ensure we don’t carry anything back to our home.
Everything
Nothing
The entertainment crew was top tier!
The maintenance crew was inconsiderate and apparently too busy to be tasked with fixing a clogged toilet...not once but two times
Absolutely nothing
We had roaches every night in the room
The waitresses for the most part were the nicest
We were there 5 days and our fridge was restocked once. One day housekeeping came after we had been out all day and wanted to rest a little, she couldnt clean our room with us it so we had to leave in order to get our room serviced. The toilet flushed sometimes. We had an iron with no ironing board. We kept the ac on beca it was hot but no real blanket to sleep under when it got cold, turn off the ac and it gets hot again. Our room keypad stopped working when we returned from breakfast and we had to wait for someone for longer than 30mins after the housekeeper and my husband let the front desk know. It took me going to the front desk in order to get someone there.
The all inclusiveness of it all and how available everything was. I was able to book excursions directly from the hotel.
There was nothing much to not like.
The location was close to the airport and within walking distance to shops and fast food options. The pools were nice and clean.
The customer service was terrible. I’ve traveled to many resorts and have never been treated so poorly. The bartenders made it seem like you were bothering them and the support staff were very rude and short with their responses. When voicing complaints or concerns, no one ever said “I’m sorry for that” or “how can I make things better.” They simply repeated their response and expected you to deal with it and get out of their face. The food was bland and the drinks were severely watered down. We drank champagne, took shots, and had mixed drinks for 8 hours straight and none of us ever got a buzz.
El servicio del spa
Los dos restaurant tenían muy malas opciones de menú. Era mejor comer en el buffet
The staff was very good.
The slimy seaweed in the water where everyone is relaxing. I have been to many Caribbean resorts never have experienced this. I will not be returning.
Pool Bar Moehane Kemal O’Neil and Kevin outstanding staff members Restaurants food and staff amazing
I was in building 4. It was so far to walk
Loved it
Liked everything about it
Excellent facilities and very clean with amazing staff. I had an excellent oceanfront view of the ocean, absolutely beautiful. The service was amazing and very responsive to our needs.
The food was average, wasn't as great as the RIU in Aruba. There was not a large selection of fruits and the juice was watery. The beach chairs did not have umbrellas attached to the chairs. I think they can learn a little from the RIU in Aruba. The gift shop cashier was rude and decided to keep our change. When asked, she said they did not have change. My response was, so instead of informing us, you decided to keep it.
Location for breakfast was fine. However some of the food stations could have been managed better.
I spent three nights and the food became monotonous after a while.
This was my first all-inclusive experience and it was pretty enjoyable! Firstly, staff are very friendly and helpful. The bartenders seemed grouchy at times but I don’t blame them. The hotel itself is very clean but be prepared for a cockroach or two if you’re on the ground floor. Not the hotels fault, just easy for them to get in. The food is average with the Italian restaurant being the best quality in my opinion. The beach is nice but small and yes, there will be guys in kayaks trying to sell souvenirs and weed but they’re respectful if you turn them down. There is ample seating both beachside and poolside. Overall this is a very nice resort BUT if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway this probably isn’t for you. It’s very lively with a big party atmosphere and it’s loud late into the night hours. If you’re looking to party then this is the best choice! My only complaint is the temperature of the pools. They are very warm and not refreshing, especially in the hot Caribbean sun.
People were very kind, clean, entertainment was great
Beautiful place, shop to expensive and staff inside were not friendly at all Jo good customer service skills but overall the stay and the staff at the hotel were amazing especially at the restaurants and and some bar tenders. Definitely planning another trip there.
Entretenimiento todo el dia, personal muy amable instalaciones limpias, buffet amplio
La temperatura del Restaurante steak, demasiado calor
the only thing I like was the staff.
The food was horrible and the pools close to early.
It was nice
The long walk to the restaurants. We’re seniors and didn’t realize it would be that far a walk.
Chose this hotel as it showed it had a good vibe for all ages (adults only) Upon arrival the check-in was super quick (check in on the RIU app makes it much easier) We are handed our room cards and towel cards and there was a porter to take our suitcases if we wanted. We had asked for a quieter part of the hotel (we like our sleep) and also for our rooms to be close together also. We were in block 4 which was right at the far side of the hotel and on the 1st floor one room apart. There are no lifts but 1 floor is nothing if you are capable of carrying a suitcase up. The room upon entering feels cool with the fan and air conditioning on. There was a huge king size bed (some have double pushed together). The room is exactly as they describe on their website and our balcony overlooked absolutely nothing but palms (perfect!) if you book direct you can request a particular area or floor. The walk from the restaurants to the room is only about 5 minutes and in the warm evening air is quite refreshing. All restaurants are along the main building walkway so not hard to find. The buffet and Asian restaurant are non-booked and you can always find a seat no matter what time you go. The main buffet restaurant food choices are incredible and cater to almost all palettes. The staff are super vigilant and almost instantly at your table pouring water (trust me they know that hydration is important!!) they take your drink order and you can go up anytime to the buffet. Yes it can get growed at peak time but they don’t run out of anything. The Asian restaurant is also buffet and again there are no issues with getting seating when you walk in. The steakhouse, Sophia’s (Italian) and the Kulinarium are bookable only and you can only book once you arrive and have your room number and only for 3 days in advance. My advice is be up early and get those booked whilst having your morning brew! We never had any issues getting the times we wanted. The food in both the steakhouse and Sophia’s are few choices but they are top notch. We never tried the Kulinarium as that is a fine dining restaurant and we felt we would have needed more after leaving. There is also Pepe’s and that is only open during the day for lunch and is very good for a midday meal if you don’t fancy the walk back to the restaurant area. It is situated next to roots bar just off the beach. Lastly you have the sports bar which offers 24/7 drink, sandwich’s, hot dogs, hamburgers and nachos. It’s self serve for the food and staff are there for your drinks. There are 5 pools for swimming 1 is the swim up bar which does get packed quickly. But there were plenty of loungers around each pool area. The splash pool was never busy and you can go down each slide as many times as you like. The beach area is well looked after and again plenty of loungers. There is a dedicated water-sports area offering pedelos, kayaks and paddle boards for feee use to hotel guests. They also offer sailing (you need your license), scuba diving and catamaran cruises. The hotel does have an on-site shop which has some clothes, souvenirs, basic supplies but appreciate it will come with a higher price. If you feel brave enough across from the hotel (a 5 minute walk) is a shopping mall which has a pharmacy, supermarket, souvenir shops and food outlets. Outside the hotel you will have pedlars or taxis but a polite thank you and keep walking they will leave you alone. The entertainment through the day and night is by far the best thing! In the daytime the entertainment staff are by the pools, bars checking in on guests and getting them hyped. At night they put on a marvellous show with each night having a different theme. Overall the hotel is very good and has something for everyone.
The staff and hot very clean it was.
Didn't like how the resort credit worked.
Loved the beach and the pools
Everything was great only wish there were more snack options especially for excursions
So clean and beautiful you could eat off the ground !
There was nothing I didn’t like. I loved the property’
Located in the flight path of the airport. Planes taking off over head every 10 to 20 minutes the entire time we were there. The atmosphere is a Walmart party day and night very noisey but has an area that's quiet and more relaxed. My issue is the hotel allows the locals to hang out there and try to sell you cheap trinkets and weed literally all day and night. And they wont leave you alone. The rooms were nice and clean. Local cable TV only, really bad. The mini bar is stocked with cheap liqour. The hotel has a gym but gets crowded all day. The spa was nice offered a variety of treatments at a decent cost. The buffet and so called premium restaurants are absolutely garbage. The hotel has a sports bar that is tiny with only 2 tvs that only have local cable sports on. The sports bar also only have 2 pool tables that you have to pay to use. Most of the staff are friendly some were down right rude. They have a small store on site where everything is marked up 300%. You could go across the street to Witter mall but everyone there will try to hustle you and sell you weed.
Beautiful beach side hotel. Ample sunbeds and great food including a fantastic vegetarian range. The entertainment team were such good fun with so much energy!! It is a lively resort and you will get hassled by the boat men in the sea selling mostly weed! Once you’ve told them no thank you though they do move into someone else! All staff are so friendly and the hotel is very clean. Myself and friend had an amazing time, squeezing in lots of sightseeing too with a great tour guide called junior. We will definitely go back
Riu Mobay was very clean and had amazing staff. There is a lot of variety in the buffet. I don’t expect much from buffets as they have to cater to everyone. Once I added the escovich sauce and scotch bonnet sauce I was good to go. Shout out to the amazing staff that went above and beyond: Waiters and waitresses, Nicole, kimone, Shantelle, Jahmarie, Alison, and Brittany. Front desk Jhasien. Lifeguards Orando and Youan. Luggage staff Jermaine. Staff Lincoln.
Well me and my wife got back from Riu Montego Bay yesterday and wow. Let me give my honest review. The welcome upon arrival was great pre checked in with the Riu class app and was greeted with a very welcoming rum punch. Not the best but hey after 10 hours of flying anything is welcome with rum in it. The animation team are simply one of the best around big shoutout to Astro,,Afro, Susie Q ms TT and last but not least TyTy. You guess was amazing from day one made us welcome and made us get involved with all the beach game. One love and respect to you all. The hotels dress policy is a bit strange in my opinion. Men make sure you cover your arms for dinner time meals. But ladies can wear what they want even if it doesn’t leave much to your imagination. Yet they claim you’re meant to dress respectfully and dignified. So would love an explanation on this one strange policy’s. Bar staff are ok their mood gets better towards the afternoon. Drinks are great and mostly drinkable. Pools are very very warm roughly 31 degrees C in the afternoon so not very cooling at all but hey it’s the Caribbean you’ll get used to it. Beach is nice but if your looking for shade then your going to be playing mission impossible. All in all the hotel is very lively and enjoyable with a few games throughout the day. Please get involved it’s a great way to make new friends. But anyway that’s my opinion and is as honest as I can be. One love. And respect Tom & Kim Mortimer

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
7.4/10Mixed reports: several guests praised cleaned rooms and overall cleanliness, but multiple complaints about sour/mop water smell in lobby, dust on headboards/baseboards and roaches in the dining hall lowered sentiment.
Service
9.4/10Strong positive mentions of friendly, helpful staff and good interaction with guests (smooth check-in/out in some cases); negatives were slow check-in at times and maintenance not resolving some issues, but overall staff service was frequently highlighted positively.
Location
9.4/10Frequently praised: beach access and convenient location (including proximity to airport) and good resort setting; a few noted villas were a long walk for some guests, but location sentiment is broadly positive.
Room Quality
6.8/10Several specific room problems: broken bed/two beds pushed together, non-working safe, intermittent running toilet, non-working TV, outdated furniture and dust—overall room quality sentiment is notably negative.
Amenities
7.8/10Good variety of restaurants, many bars and entertainment praised, but negatives include no room service in many units, limited transport to distant rooms, pool/beach access restricted after 6 pm, and shows/music not matching all guest preferences.
Value for Money
7.6/10Mixed: some guests felt satisfied and would recommend, others expected more for the price (complaints about repetitive food, watered-down drinks and extra charges like paid laundry) leading to below-target value sentiment.
Food and Beverage
9/10Many positives: good breakfast, large buffet, varied restaurant options and generally excellent food; negatives include watered-down drinks, reservations required at some venues and a reported hygiene issue (roaches) affecting perception.
Overall Experience
9/10Overall stays described as enjoyable with multiple guests saying they'd return or recommending the resort, celebrating anniversaries, and praising staff/food; operational and room issues tempered some stays but overall experience sentiment skews positive.
Experience a 5-star adults-only escape with nonstop dining and entertainment, all included in your stay.
Relax in spacious suites with sea views, living areas and balconies to savor Montego Bay’s coastline.
Steps from Rose Hall’s shores, with easy access to snorkeling spots and airport proximity for a smooth getaway.
