Swimming pool was closed (not informed beforehand). Half the equipment in the gym did not work (3 treadmills all out of order). The Chinese restaurant on site was closed every day during our stay (Thurs-Sat). The all-day coffee shop was barely staffed. The bar was never open. The air conditioning did not work. This hotel promises a lot but delivered a very poor experience.
Good
room is spacious, bed and beddings were the best! so comfy. clean. breakfast is good, has a variety of international and local fare bought strawberries at the lobby, cheap, and they were the sweetest I love the nature and beautiful architecture and there is a mini farm too - so nice
The suite rooms were spacious and worth the upgrade cost. The staff were helpful and accommodating especially at the front desk and Chinese restaurant. The welcome drink was a nice touch. The hotel is not centrally located so not much nearby. Room temperature was very warm and the temperature control did not seem to be working. Breakfast buffet offered a wide choice of western and asian dishes and the quality was good. Only complaint was the breakfast staff was limited so getting coffee refills was very slow.
We stopped over for one night at this hotel. Initially the sprawling grounds gave the impression of luxury and exclusivity. We were happy with the layout and amenities of our room. However the good impression ended there. We wanted to have a quick swim after our heavy activities during the day. The swimming pool required all ladies to wear a swimming cap and it costs a total of 60 RMB (USD 10) for my family. Because we booked the room through our travel agent so we were not required to pay a deposit during check-in. As a consequence, we were not able to charge the bill to our room for all services, even meals. After a quick chat with the front desk, I had no choice but to travel all the way back to my room (quite a journey considering the large grounds of the estate) to get the cash. I am shocked by the inflexibility of the hotel staff and their ability to exercise discretion for their guests. I was made to feel that the hotel does not trust their guests with a small amount of money and is afraid that we will run away without paying. This was made very clear by the front desk staff as he mentioned that the travel agency has yet to pay the rates. This is a typical business to business credit and transcation but I was made to feel that I was owing them money. Even the pool service staff seems to be suspicious of the guests. Considering that this is a 5* hotel, it left a very bad taste in the mouth. We were deeply disappointed with the experience. It is quite obvious that the hotel does not place the guests' experience in the highest priority and at the centre of what they do. While the hardware and infrastructure is 5*, the competency and the service standard of the staff leaves a lot to be desired. There are certainly big gaps in their standard processes.
Lovely setting, great room decor, comfortable bed, almost new furnishings. Welcoming and friendly services. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast. One of the best in all the travels we have done in China. Would definitely return when we visit Ordos again.
The hotel is situated on a huge property with a big garden surrounding the buildings. It is an impressive view when approaching the hotel. In addition, the lobby area is also big, nicely decorated and inviting. The employees are service-minded and cheerful. When I entered my room it felt like being in a small apartment which is nice as it feels a bit more like home. The room is clean, well equipped, warm and with the usual comfortable bed the IHG is known for. In addition, free Wi-Fi, a gym and swimming pool (that was closed for renovation during my stay, unfortunately). In their restaurant you can find food that will make you satisfied for sure. No problem to recommend this hotel.
This is the best hotel in ordos - you should only stay here even though it is very average. Staff - great young man manager Tyler was his name. Everyone else useless - actually inept. Food - average. Come here with low expectations and you'll be fine. Very nice grounds and good for a walk. This place has a pool but you need a swimming hat. Don't forget that. Gym has dumbells to 50lbs and a barbell with weights to 200kg so you can do a few presses and flyes. The nice thing is the layout and you don't need to get in a lift for your room - all ground level.
Excellent hotel, very clean, good food. We like the BBQ as well.
comfortable room.
Extremely helpful, friendly staff.
I'm currently at the Crowne Plaza Ordos and can say that it's a great 5 star hotel. The hotel is very clean, the staff is very friendly, and the food is amazing. You must try the famous BBQ lamb. I will stay here again when I come back to Ordos. The city is very nice.
We were in town - for the first time - for our son's wedding. While not many of the staff had very good English-speaking skills, all were attentive and helpful, especially Mgr Maggie Zhang (whose English is fine). The hotel and the rooms were clean, comfortable and up to date, and, except for a plugged shower drain which was fixed within 30 minutes of being reported, perfectly functional. The all-you-could-eat breakfast buffet was fantastic, with broad choices between Western and Chinese dishes. A BBQ facility on the hotel grounds lent a slightly surreal Texas-in-Inner-Mongolia spin to the visit. The hotel was not crowded, so we undoubtedly reaped the benefits of getting all of the attention we needed, but I would recommend the Crowne Plaza Ordos without reservations (well, you should make reservations, but you get my drift).
Big room and good hotel service. but when we arrived at night, no restaurant and no supermarket is near around hotel.
I guess not many people living in this city?? The hotel is dim and quiet.. Its quite scary btw.. The facilities are all closed, dont know if it is permanently... It"s a place to sleep, only sleep. The breakfast is normal, nothing special. It"s clean in the room also.
Good hotel but little guest
Nice big hotel but dead town
I stayed in quite few CPs around the world but this one was very disappointing. First the good one: It was clean ! However the rooms need some renovation. They are advertising balcony but what is it worth if you can't open the windows. Also the AC is quite noisy. Breakfast very basic. Smokers around in the lobby. Finally they didn't allow me to take an orange juice from the coffee bar to my room. Lack of English speaking stuff caused delays during check-inn/out. Hope there are better options in Ordos
Very nice hotel approx. 30 minutes north of the "Ghost City Ordos" and approx. 1 hour south of the Kubaqi Desert. The hotel has international standard and one of the nicest and kindest staff I ever met on my trips. Some speak English very well and the service is outstanding. They helped us to organize a taxi for the two weekend days in order to travel to the "new city of ordos" and the Kubaqi desert. These two locations are very unique if you are looking for something different.
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for 3 nights in april. The hotel is very well equipped for large conferences or events but is very quiet and empty at other times. It was a bit spooky. We were 2 of only a handful of guests staying at the time. The rooms were very comfortable but a very long and lonely walk from the entrance to the hotel. It seemed that entire sections of the huge hotel were unused-(lights off and no heating), the pool was also empty (which was very disappointing! I could see it from my window) and the "spa" was also closed. It seems that the Crowne Plaza (much like many parts of Ordos) was built for a population of people that never showed up. The breakfast buffet was good, however the restaurant menu in the evenings was very limited. On the second night i had to ask the front desk if the restaurant was actually open because all the lights were off. Once we were assured it was open we shown to a table and the lights were turned on over our table only- the rest of the restaurant was left in the dark. Also the waitresses didn't know what beer was so i had to ask her to open the fridge so i could point one out. The front desk staff were usually extremely friendly and the morning manager was wonderful. Also a mention to the concierge who was always friendly, smiling and very welcoming. Although the stay was fine for the 3 nights, the next time i'll stay somewhere with more atmosphere and signs of life and less of a David Lynch vibe.
This is a good Hotel in Ordos. Staff speaks good English and the restaurants offer diverse Asian cuisines. Each staff member goes the extra mile to cater to your requests and make you stay a very pleasant one. During our stay, Ms. Dolly Hou, took care of every single detail to organise our day tour at Ordos. Ms. Hou's hospitality is highly commendable. Her courtesy made our stay a the hotel a lifetime memory for our family !! Would recommend this Hotel to each and every one visiting Ordos. Mohan India
大きなバスタブで全身を伸ばして湯に浸かることができ、とてもリラックスした。 朝食も美味しかった。 宿泊客が少なかったせいか、活気を感じなかった。
you are in Ordos, a city with no longer a growing economy, and the hotel is already feeling the cost of the years. it is easy to see the hotel was build for a higher usage rate than nowadays, the bars and lounges that were probably busy years ago, now are not working anymore. the rooms are ok, but vey tiny to accommodate an extra bed. overall is a good hotel, but i would expect more for a hotel carrying the Crowne trademark, nevertheless probably is still the best option in town
The Ordos Crowne Plaza was an opportune occasion for a bit of order in Ordos. Indeed, a paltry price procured a prize positioned prospect well placed; a recommendation worth the reckoning.
I was very impressed with the room. It was clean, roomy, and had nice touches that I, unfortunately, did not have time to use; like the biggest flat screen I've ever seen in a hotel. There's a business desk. There are sofa chairs and a recliner. The bed was very comfortable. I slept well. The bathroom, which is stocked with high-end toiletries, and paraben-free soaps, is set apart from the sleeping area. I appreciated that. It made the room feel a bit like an apartment. Very comfortable bath robes and cushy slippers. I had breakfast here. It was so-so. There was no bacon, unfortunately, among other non-Chinese things I like to eat for breakfast.
The positives for this place are that it is well located and you can walk to the main street etc, it is clean and reasonably well appointed. The biggest negative was that the rooms were heated like ovens. I and others had to get the hotel to unlock the balcony doors to let in some subzero air. I ended up sleeping with the door open despite it getting down to minus 5C overnight. No wifi in the rooms but available in the lobby area. Breakfast was basic. Apparently a Mongolian cappuccino consists of frothy milk with no coffee!
It was the Miss World contest that took us to Ordos, the Hotel Crown Plaza is were the contestants were staying. The hotel is grand! The bigest barrier was that unless you spoke The language, it was very difficult to make yourself understood. So take a crash course or a phrase book. Rooms are spacious and facilities are excellent. The staff really try but speak very limited English. The simplest of things take a long time. On arrival at the airport unless you have the name of your hotel written in Chinese you will not be understood........
The hotel is great and has great facilities. However, most of the staff don't speak any English at all, and the level of English of those that do speak it is extremely limited. When I tried to check in I was told that Expedia had not paid for the hotel and wanted to charge me again. To try and sort this out took over two hours to sort out. Never the less on checking out they told me I had to pay for one nights stay. This was eventually sorted out again. You cannot even order food or drinks verbally everything has to be through sign language. There is nothing for a Westerner in this area of China unless you are travelling on business/Conference . Would not return to the area unless I had to.
