Convenient and quiet
Dirty, poor breakfast
Nothing
The farmer's dog
Motel style rooms with stained carpets, however it was clean and comfortable, the pub which is che k in and breakfast is dead, and. You need a car get about. We did get a taxi to the farmer's dog, it cost us £45 😑
Building looks beautiful
Rooms were around the back very small and very hot in room
Lovely property , picturesque. Car parking available
The 2 storey building of rooms at the back very basic & terrible smell of drains outside . The smell also in the room/bathroom. No staff about & disappointing continental breakfast
the staff were very good, everywhere was very clean. the bar area was very comfortable and the location was excellent and very peaceful.
The listing for the vines says it's 4 stars. it most definitely is not. the room I had (202) was in a remote block. although perfectly clean, the smell of sewage in the room was intoxicating, and the lobby decor was bland and very unwelcoming. the carpet was badly stained and very worn. The biggest downside to this hotel is that there is no food available. breakfast was cereal bread, fruit, and coffee. this is not 4 Star! there is no food available other than breakfast. I ended up ordering a takeaway curry and eating it in the dining room of the hotel. it is so disappointing that such a nicely decorated building is not being used anywhere near its potential. I think the owners should have a total rethink if they think they are offering a 4 star establishment.
Breakfast only just adequate
Location
Cleanliness. Accessibility. Broken mattresses. Stained carpets. No response from hotel
Location - staff brilliant - continental breakfast very good
Few things lacking - glasses in bathroom - hand gel watered down - not enough sockets in room - no food at night -
Keurig schoon
Cleaning staff were very helpful
Uncomfortable bed, boiling shower - difficult to work, stained dirty entrance carpet, no communication/instruction on how to access/checkout, the most awful smell of drains
Lovely location to base yourself from
Certainly not as described (pictures are a few years old!) no full English brekkie even though photos contain pics of it, all continental, EV charger out of action but no signage and whole place looks run down and in need of some tlc - we got the impression it is being run down as an establishment, certainly not 4 star - we were a group of 6 and all of us thought it was 2 star at best. Staff try really hard but not supported by owners to make it as per advertised. Real shame as it clearly was much nicer a few years ago.
Breakfast was terrible didn’t have any proper food
Rooms very easy to access with great parking. Smart TV that can be connected to your own TV Subscriptions etc. Comfy bed.
Room had a basic clean before we arrived. Lots of dust under the chair in corner and under another desk chair. Clearly not vaccuumed before arrival. In hotel corridor the fire extinguisher had someone's name written on it in the dust. I wiped surfaces in room and the wipe was filthy in dust afterwards. Headboard, TV, charts etc.
Vriendelijk personeel, Schone kamer, fijn bed
Location and friendly staff
Disappointed to find out that there was no cooked breakfast. Tea, toast, cereal and fruit juice only. For the price we paid we would have expected a full English?
An idyllic picturesque property. The rooms are lovely and in keeping with the property. Mini fridge in the room which was perfect for dog foods as this is a dog friendly property (the Q&As are outdated on booking.com). Staff were so friendly too. Suggestions for the property would be: dog towels in the rooms / entry to the pub. Dog waste bags & bins on site.
We booked this hotel as it mentioned EV Charging. However this was broke at the time. So if you’re a future guest please check this. Booking.com is also out of date by stating there is an on site restaurant. This is no longer the case. With this, we were expecting the included breakfast to be cooked, but it was continental. Nevertheless, the perfect options were available. However, in the evening, the pub does allow you to book a table and they’ll provide tableware for you to order take aways which I absolutely loved.
Close to The farmers Dog, pool table and dart board in hotel bar. Bar lady was lovely
We were the room next to stairs and at night it was very noisy hearing people slam the doors and coming up the stairs. Rubbish left in shower, no netting on window so if curtains not closed anyone walking past or parking car can see right in. Bedding was immaculate, room overall was ok but hotel/rooms overall needs a overhall. It has so much poteintial to be a so much more, deffinatley not a 4 star. No food available in the night and breakfast is now only contiential
Very little, only the fact that that we found a much nicer establishment a couple of miles down the road and we definitely not be revisiting the Vines
There was no breakfast on Sunday, in fact the whole Bar restaurant area was closed until 3pm. Apparently the duty employee failed to wake up and did not come in. We believe this is a breach of contract. Breakfast on Monday was only continental which we were not told beforehand.
The location it's self was lovely and quiet in beautiful surroundings
The room was very comfortable but had a few cobwebs. I paid for Cooked breakfast which was unavailable because the chef was non existent which I was told on arrival and was very disappointed as I specially booked this hotel for that reason
Clean rooms and in a fantastic location
Wasn’t informed when booking that there wasn’t any cooked breakfast, and on the Sunday morning no one turned up to do the continental breakfast leaving me and all the other guest very disappointed
Location
Everything bar location
Near where we was visiting so great location.
When we got there we was told no food. No cook no restaurant and no manager. I wasn’t told any of this and I booked in October 2025! Would have been nice to have an email explaining the circumstances of the business.
Close to the wildlife park
Room for the price was shabby, had a horrible smell in the bathroom..no food onsite and breakfast was mediocre.
The ground floor room was very good. It had a small fridge and a fan too and there was plenty of room. There was ample tea and coffee and milk provided and great Border biscuits. Very quiet. Great location.
It said breakfast included. We expected an English breakfast like we had last year when we stayed. So we were a bit disappointed when only a continental one was offered. Having said that the bread was good for toasting, the tea and coffee good a good selection of yoghurts and fruits were available too.
Leaving
Staff, cleanliness, Odour
Bed was comfortable, water, tea and coffee supplied in room.
Broken shower, arriving for breakfast at 9:40am and being told breakfast finished at 9:30am when info sheet in bedroom stated breakfast was on till 10am. Definitely not four star accommodation.
Location is lovely. Staff very helpful. Quiet. Enjoyable continental breakfast.
The beds were awful. Mattresses worn out. No restaurant open in the evening although the member of staff on duty booked us in to a restaurant in another nearby village.
It was quiet.
We stayed on a particularly hot day, and unfortunately the room was very small with very limited space to move around. A fan had been provided, which we appreciated, but it was quite heavily coated in dust. The power lead was also too short, meaning it couldn’t be positioned safely without creating a trip hazard around the bed. Unfortunately, the chef was unwell during our stay, which was completely outside the management’s control, so the kitchen was closed. There was one gentleman running the bar, who was very pleasant and welcoming. Our room (No.6) was very small, with a small window so it was hot. Overall, there were some positives, particularly the friendly service, but the size and condition of the room, along with the lack of dining facilities during our stay, made the experience less comfortable than we had hoped.
The staff were good.
The room was extremely hot, not value for money at all. I can't believe I paid 600AUD for 2 nights. It should have been 100 and 120AUD per night for the quality of the room. I thought it would ha e been serviced and it wasn't.
The staff welcome and bar area were lovely, modern and clean
The room was very dark, small and the carpets in a poor condition No kitchen service at all, not even a bacon roll Very basic breakfast of drinks, cereals, toast and budget undercooked mini pastries
Lovely pub in a lovely area we were in the annex around the back the room was OK. Clean and comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful.
The pub didn't serve meals and also no cooked breakfast. Just a continental breakfast.
The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was lovely. Very accommodating for our dog.
Overall it's a bit tired and missing the Cotswold character. It felt like more cleaning was needed as the stairs had moths, bugs and spider webs in it. Overall, the hotel needed more effort put into it. Our room was very small and hot and we only had a quilt on the bed, no top sheet. Why do hotels continue to do this and not adjust bedding for the season?
Fabulous location
Easy to find. Big towels. They provided a room fan in the hot weather. Easy parking. Bar staff were good.
The door to room 106 sticks. There were no toiletries in the room. The soap holder was empty. The shower head needed a good clean as only a dribble of water was flowing before I cleaned it. There was no chef in the pub/restaurant, hence I have no dinner.
Lady that ran the bar extremely friendly and provided excellent service. Bed was clean and also bathroom. Fabulous location.
Carpets all could either have a thoroughly good cleaning or preferably replaced. Breakfast very overcooked and incredibly small portion - waiter had no personality whatsoever.
Super nuit calme. Lit confortable. Petit déjeuner anglais classique
Comfortable beds. Good breakfast.
The walk-in shower was a good size, but it was not really clean, and the tiled floor had grout missing. I booked an evening meal for myself and my elderly mother, who has coeliacs, but when we got there, we were told that they had an event on so they could only offer scampi and chips, which my Mum could not have, or risotto. As we'd been out all day, we settled for what was offered, but the risotto was not at all good and the people coming in for the event were moving tables around and making so much noise that we had to move tables. I would have made more sense not to take the booking. We weren't even given an apology.
Location good the beds were uncomfortable b
Breakfast was of poor quality eg sausage and bacon
Posizione strategica
Rifiniture grezze, molto caldo, senza aria condizionata
Great location and great pub onsite well worth giving this excellent establishment a try, and the staff can’t do enough for you
Nothing
Location is superb. Rooms are comfortable with good facilities.
Evening restaurant menu was not available (Landlord did supply a bowl of Chilli). Breakfast at 08:15 was too late for myself and other guests so I had to miss a breakfast.
Breakfast was good and I liked that the food from the kitchen was cooked to order
Wardrobe space was rather limited for a four night stay. We only ate one evening meal, choice was limited and the food was average but we were informed that the dining facilities had only recently started, so room for improvement.
Location
The carpet in the room was dirty and seemed not to have been vacuumed.
Well, gee, thanks for letting me reply to my stay at The Vines in Bampton. I really appreciate Booking.com directing me over 150 miles away from the Bampton along the Coast To Coast walk, and thus making it possible for me to lose 160 dollars. I tried to cancel but of course I wasn't allowed. So I really can't judge the qualities since I was staying in the other Bampton, spending another 130 dollars for a room after walking for 14 miles. Such a pleasure. So helpful. So aware that undoubtedly picking the wrong Bampton in England. And after spending nearly 1000 dollars on accommodations through Booking.com, too. I don't think I'll ever use it again. And, too bad, too, I am a travel writer, who has written many pieces for the New York Times travel section. Not that expect anyone one or any pseudo human to read this or even care!
Recognize that I was searching for accommodations in Northern England along the Coast to Coast walk, and telling me that there are TWO BAMPTONS, reminding to choose the right one near the area where I had been walking and traveling. But I guess the technical skills of your AI generated booking system didn't have that capacity. A country like the UK has many place names that are similar--Richmond, Keld, etc. etc. Be nice if you could teach a few more skills for those who are not familiar with the geography of country where we are traveling. I suspect there are millions of people, and thousands who get misdirected and don't know until it's too late like me. Yes, you can give me a voucher for travel to compensate for your errors. After read just how many thousands of dollars I've spent at Booking.com.
great area, price and location stayed a few times and will always come back
nothing
The breakfast was good, the room was clean
There was nowhere in the shower (shelf ) to put shampoo etc on , one of our rooms had a smell in the bathroom, the bar closes early and the host can be abrupt
The location was near to an event we were attending. Clean bathroom and comfortable beds tasty breakfast with good service.
Our room was quite shabby in need of decorating . Scuffed paintwork and shabby looking. The curtains were poor quality and very creased. Carpets were stained and looked dirty . Only one of the windows in our room opened. I
The pillows were nice. The location was pretty.
The hotel is filthy, the rooms are disgusting, the electric car charger is broken, linen bins left everywhere, my room wasn’t big enough to swing a dead cat in, the boiler was in my room and made so much noise continuously. I paid the most out of 9 people and had the smallest room. The breakfast was dreadful, had to ask for food to be cooked longer, nothing was re stocked, broken windows, some rooms didn’t even have working main lights, one room had no remote and this wasn’t able to be replaced, one shower handle didn’t work, one shower didn’t have cold water, one shower flooded the bathroom, the carpet everywhere was absolutely disgusting, the carpet in the breakfast room is arguably unsanitary. Honestly avoid this hotel.
Lovely breakfast and comfortable beds. Nice to be able to park next to our room!! Good WIFI too. As a plus, the Wood Bros brewery was just up the road and it was a very pleasant walk there.
It's a shame there was no dinner service so we had to drive out to look for some dinner. Perhaps provide some suggestions/menus in the rooms to help with that.
The bed was comfortable
I had 2 bedside lights 1 of which didn't work and a light above the mirror, only. The shower flooded the whole of the bathroom I slipped up and banged my hip and shin trying to get across the slippery wet floor to the bedroom to dry myself. I informed the hotel this morning regarding this. The door from the car park entering the breakfast area the carpet was was extremely dirty and covered in mud. This mess was there on Saturday and when we came down for breakfast on Sunday, NOTHING had been cleaned, considering it was the next day, and people were eating there I found it absolutely disgusting. Things on the buffet part of the breakfast were not replenished,no tea bags, orange juice or bread. There was no breakfast menu, we had to assume what the hot options were. The young girl serving assumed we all wanted a full English, (which was easier for them) this was only changed when some of our party asked questions. There was 9 in our party and we all got our hot breakfast at different times, which resulted in the person who was served first was waiting for the last person to finish. Which I think is totally unacceptable. Finally, this Hotel definitely does not warrant the price they charge for their facilities and certainly not their star rating. Unfortunately I will NOT be recommending this Hotel.
Ground floor. Outlook, cooked breakfast, shower
Mattress and pillow
Breakfast was wonderful and the staff were very helpful. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the location was beautiful.
The location was fine.
On arrival we were allocated a room at the back of site. This was a twin room chalet type accommodation. The room was not very clean at all. The carpet was filthy. There was mold in the bathroom in some corners. The bed linen was disgusting with stains all over the mattress and covers. It also had a very strong odour. We decided to complain and were given a different room above the main pub area. This was an adequate improvement, although there was no mattress cover / protector and cobwebs in the windows. Be warned, the pictures that are advertised give a very false impression and be very aware of the consequences of booking on of the chalet rooms at the back of the premises. It is not a 4 star accommodation and probably needs a health check. We left the next morning at 07.45 hrs and the downstairs reception, bar and restaurant area was still locked, we found this very odd.
The breakfast was nice but should include vegetarian/vegan options and also soya or oat milk alternatives for tea/coffee. I liked the friendly staff and location of the hotel to the Cotswold Wildlife Park.
The room was outdated and carpet had marks. The bathroom could have been cleaned better as had a few insects. Also a net should be included, especially for all ground flour rooms to give light and privacy, as drawing curtains makes the room dark and uou still want the daylight coming through. There was a fan for this hot weather but maybe look at air-conditioning in the future.
The pub and restaurant were warm and welcoming, with excellent gaming facilities that catered to all age groups.
While the pub and restaurant were warm and welcoming, the accommodation itself was in a very poor state. The carpets were sticky underfoot, the decorative cushions on the bed were filthy, and the overpowering musky smell in the room made the stay uncomfortable. The en-suite was badly in need of refurbishment, with a strong drainage smell that was particularly unpleasant. In addition, the security keypad for the upstairs accommodation was broken, which raised concerns about safety and security. Unfortunately, the breakfast experience was also disappointing. The cooked breakfasts were greasy, and the milk provided for the cereal was warm rather than chilled
Location good for getting around.
A bit dusty on the bed frame.
Location
Tired facility
We stayed in the pub rooms which were lovely. It wasn't noisy there either!
Handy location for our visit.
Room dated and no fridge or air conditioning.
Location and garden area
Bathroom was dated and mouldy , slow pressure and cold water in shower.
Nothing
We paid £803 for four rooms for one night and were allocated rooms at the back of the main building. These rooms felt very run down and quite grotty. The carpets and décor are in real need of updating, which made the stay feel disappointing from the outset. Our bathroom smelt so bad that we couldn’t use it and had to rely on the children’s bathroom instead. In another room, our parents found a fridge that still contained opened food from a previous guest, which was very off-putting and raised concerns about cleanliness.
Good location, nice staff, comfy beds. Good shower. Nice fry up & other bits for breakfast. Can park right outside your door
Not alot, sorry
Scruffy
Its location.
I do not think the room was very clean my partner had a lot of bites on her when she got out of bed in the morning.
Tout, et le calme campagnard + une bonne Guinness
Rien
Location was handy
Turned up with me and my partners in one room and parents in a different room First thing went to have a shower in my room shower was not working could not change the temp was scolding hot called reception said they would speak to the manager, hadn’t heard anything then called back call was directed to the manager who pretty much called us a liar and said it does work without even coming to see it (shower did not work) spoke to reception again said we can’t change room but can have a room which had just been vacated but we couldn’t swap to it as was not clean. Parents room single bed mattress springs were completely broken so was a very uncomfortable sleep Breakfast in the morning, 8:15 am and they already ran out of tomatoes even though the hotel is not a busy hotel Very poor experience with clear lack of care from manager and staff Also no food in the evening as “change in management” but was not advertised anywhere before booking this hotel
The fundamentals were sound. Clean spacious room, clean, comfortable bed, bathroom and shower were clean, water was hot, water pressure was ok, everything was in a good state of refurbishment. TV in the room I had this time, in the main building, was larger than the TVs in the annex rooms. Breakfast was ok, and it now starts at 0715 rather than 0730, which actually makes all the difference to us workers. It is in a nice quiet, dare I say it charming, village. Ample free car parking. Staff are friendly.
When you read the other reviews and scores, it tends to let itself down on infuriating minor details, rather than fundamentals. For example during my stay the housekeeping was hit and miss. On one day the housekeeping was missed altogether, on the other days the bed was always made, but the hospitality tray may or may not get replenished. I got biscuits on 2 days but not the others, I got bottled water on one day, the bin didn't get empted at all, I ran low on toilet paper and had to ask downstairs for extra. That sort of thing. For many people, me included, none of these are deal breakers, especially considering the room rates for the area, but in my opinion its this sort of stuff that is getting it a lower overall rating than maybe it should get.
Ubicazione in un piccolo borgo di campagna, camere spaziose e pulite, staff cordiale. Abbiamo anche avuto la possibilità di giocare a biliardo. Colazione ottima.
nulla
Hi ha aparcament gratuït. I l'esmorzar és prou complet i bo.
Els matalassos són molt incòmodes. Impossible dormir, es noten totes les molles. Neteja 0, ens vam trobar dues calces brutes dins el calaix de la tauleta. Un desastre. Personal d'atenció molt borde i maleducat.
Tired messy and uncomfortable not worth the money at all
Very tired and poor
Convenient for or location
No evening food
The location was great for our needs. It was very comfortable and cosy.
The drive is full of potholes so drive carefully
The location was central for visiting The Cotswolds, it had rural charm & hospitality. Breakfast was served on warm plates & delicious. The staff were attentive.
We went with another couple - our friend being a plumber found it difficult to sleep with the sound of the pipes in his room. Every time a shower, tap or toilet was used the pipes rattled.
Great breakfast and the room was what we expected.
Lovely compact room with all the facilities needed for an overnight stay. Location was quiet and just perfect!
Nothing to dislike as it suited our needs.
Beautiful and relaxing place to stay. I’d definitely recommend.
Was lovely quiet location and perfect for what we needed. Only 15 mins away from cotswold wildlife park.
You can easily hear other guests in the rooms next door and above, 1 lady decided to make a call at 5am was very loud!
It was more like a motel than hotel but none the worse for that. Compact room but it had all that we needed. Breakfast was served in the main building and was good with self service except for the cooked course which was hot, fresh and served with a smile. It was a relaxed stay. Easy parking bout the parking area was deeply rutted.
The car park area was poor.
Lovely country style hotel and friendly staff.
Friendly staff Room okay
Breakfast was okay It would have been nice to have been given the option of how i would like eggs cooked But all freshly cooked. Did have issue with ants due to a bit of popcorn being dropped in the morning bathroom was full but advised them as not really their fault Bed was quite soft but again personal preference
We liked the private entrance so we didn't have to go in through the bar.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful location and seemed clean
The welcome we received from whom seemed to be the manager was not the most warming at all. Our room was comfortable and clean however was very noisy. The outdoor accommodation I’m sure would have been much quieter where we thought we would have been situated. Going back to the staff of the hotel, we had to pay £5 for my five year old boy to have breakfast the next morning which we were absolutely more than happy to pay for but when we were told my son would not be allowed anything hot and could only have cereal I was really disappointed. We even decided not have breakfast the next morning due to lack of sleep and awkward atmosphere. We have stayed in many accommodations throughout the Cotswolds and this one was the worst by far. A shame really as such a pretty area but the gentlemen made us feel cheap and unwelcome.
Friendly and well appointed, it was a great base to visit the Cotswolds for a few days
The potholes in the car park
Friendly staff in the bar that would serve you a drink at any time even if no one in
It’s a pub not a hotel -pub was lovely, shame no food is being served at the moment (expect breakfast) -nearest dinning is a short drive. We walked but it took 40 minutes both ways
The rooms in the outside extension are lovely, clean & bright. Rooms in the pub need much work -including the mouldy ceiling in the bathroom!
Beautiful scenery, quiet property and friendly staff
Nothing to complain about, would be nice for dinner to be back up and running
The welcome and help with accessing local amenities.
Location
Extremely Small rooms no enough parking and condition of drive to car park terrible , cooked breakfast very limited but not as limited as the buffet
Parking
Friendly staff. Clean comfortable room with parking close by Kettle in room
Sadly restaurant not currently open for dinner however breakfast still served and very good
Room was very clean, and spacious. Staff were excellent and welcoming.
The shower was the only let down. Next to no water pressure, and both showers I had were cold showers as there was no hot water.
The property was located in a lovely village in the Cotswolds. The room was a nice size and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great.
The locatio.
Shower tray overflowed, however careful one was. Awful potholes in driveway. Single beds too narrow. Bar billiards table in dining room space which opened into the bar.
Lovely staff, very helpful and welcoming. Comfortable room. Near a lovely playground for the children.
A shame the restaurant was closed, although we could order-in food for delivery from elsewhere.
Lovely room, clean tidy, staff were great.
Took to long to organise a cooked breakfast. So we had to leave without it. I would stay breakfast should start at 7.30am as some people may need to leave earlier.
The area.
The photos of the hotel made it look like a different property. There was only one hand tail / mould in the en-suite / the carpet had stains / the plaster had bad cracks / the stair case leading to the room was not great / the drive & carpark was very bad with pot holes everywhere. It was a shame as it could be a very nice place but needs a lot of work. The pub area was nice and up together. The breakfast was good and there was no grease. It was quite clean and the staff were friendly. I think this is a honest sum up of the property. The photos are misleading of the bedrooms.
