I love the village and the food in the restarurant. The garden is nice.

I asked a special type of room (I have had bad experience before), but I got an "upgrade" instead, a suite. It was a small room with jakuzzi that I didn' t want to use, in a separated building. During the cleaning up of rooms, I've seen other suits, well it was a downgrade rather... I'm a returning guest, but I'm not sure, I'll go back to the hotel again. After checkout I got a message via booking.com about cancelling my booking. Wierd...

We were a little early in the season so bar and bistro weren’t open!

We kregen een super upgrade en dat was natuurlijk erg fijn. De kamer was verder netjes en schoon en de bedden waren op zich prima. Het hotel ziet er mooi uit en het à la carte ontbijt was goed. Rond het zwembad waren kussens en fatboys aanwezig, al geven wij zelf de voorkeur aan gewone ligbedden.

De prijs en kwaliteit vonden wij niet in verhouding. Onze kamer rook sterk naar een oude open haard en brandlucht. De bedden bewogen erg mee als je partner zich omdraaide. Bij het zwembad was het niet erg schoon en de gewone ligbedden stonden vooral in de tuin, waar weinig zon kwam. Het grootste minpunt was de muziek bij het zwembad. Steeds dezelfde vijf pianonummers werden de hele middag herhaald. We hebben gevraagd of de muziek uit kon, maar dat kon (of wilde men) niet. Daardoor hebben we noodgedwongen met noise cancelling op gezeten en de andere dagen activiteiten geboekt om niet bij het zwembad te hoeven zitten. Ook was er geen toilet bij het zwembad, waardoor je naar de receptie of terug naar je kamer moest.

The awful part: Tiny, old rooms with no views, stained towels with someone else’s hair on them, minuscule bathrooms, beds with plastic headboards, a pool that’s a tiny puddle, and a manager who doesn’t speak English and couldn’t care less about solving anything. To top it off, when we came back from dinner the room reeked of rotten sewage; all they did was give us an air freshener, and the unbearable smell lingered for the rest of the stay. The pillows were ultra-thin, about 3 cm thick, and even though we asked for others, they never brought any. And in the middle of a heat wave, the air conditioning shut itself off in the middle of the night, both nights. The only good thing: The medieval town it’s located in is beautiful, but that’s no credit to the hotel. Summary: You’ll pay a fortune for filth, bad smells, poor service, and cramped space. A trap best avoided. And to the hotel: I’ve seen how you respond defensively to every bad review — save yourselves the trouble, because this place is indefensible.

The hotel is beautiful. We booked at the last moment as a birthday trip for me. We had no idea how special the hotel is. It is not a conventional hotel in any respect but rather an amazing experience of living in a medieval village but with completely modern accommodations. The room was spacious and the bathroom incredible. The "pool" which is an Etruscan-age soaking pool, was stunning. The garden is really the Garden of Eden, as you will not believe how beautiful it is until you experience it. The village is quaint, lively and a joy to walk with the customary multiple churches that you find in a lot of Italian villages. Breakfast was just a minute away and had every choice you could imagine and the service was amongst the best we have ever experienced.

There is not really much to complain about, my toast was not as hot as I would have liked, but I have no doubt that if I mentioned it, it would have been taken care of! Also, it rained on our second day, but I am not sure that the hotel had any control over that!!

Rooms were dark and although we were upgraded, rooms were small. Staff were pleasant but I felt they lacked knowledge for guests.

Giardino con piscina naturale e idromassaggio ben curato e stupendo. Abbiamo usufruito sia del ristorante per la cena che era ottima sia del servizio della spa con un massaggio veramente rilassante. Complimenti per tutto.

Incantevole connubio di benessere e natura. Comfort e bellezza regnano sovrane in questa oasi di pace.

La struttura è molto curata, gli spazi esterni sono eccezionali. Le camere semplici ma, pulite e dotate di tutti i comfort. Lo staff molto gentile. Colazione servita al tavolo ma, a buffet, ricca e di qualità. Un ottimo posto per rilassarsi e godersi la quiete della val d'orcia!

Palazzo del Capitano is a charming hotel with a beautiful pool and garden area, which was definitely the highlight of our stay. It’s a pleasant place to relax after exploring the region. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in our room did not perform well, and with the summer heat it made the room uncomfortable, especially at night. Overall, the experience was good but not particularly memorable. We had expected something more special based on the reviews and photos, but it never felt like a truly exceptional stay. The town itself is lovely to walk around, but in our opinion, it’s best suited for a one-night visit rather than a longer stay. Not a bad hotel by any means, but there are other properties in Tuscany that offer a more memorable overall experience.

Our stay at Palazzo del Capitano exceeded all expectations. In reality, this hotel is even more beautiful than in the photos! The hotel grounds are simply stunning – beautifully maintained, incredibly charming, and surrounded by lush greenery. The atmosphere is peaceful, relaxing, and truly special. The entire staff is exceptionally friendly, professional, and attentive. What impressed us the most was that you never need to ask for anything – the team seems to know exactly what guests need and takes care of everything with genuine warmth and care. We were especially grateful for the help with our luggage and packing the car, which was extremely important for us during this trip. The breakfasts are simply outstanding – delicious, varied, and prepared with great attention to detail. Everything about this hotel deserves the highest praise. We left absolutely delighted and will definitely return!

The location, cleanliness of the rooms, and friendliness of the staff were all exceptional. The charming town surrounding the hotel was also visually stunning. The restaurant offered an exquisite dining experience with delectable cuisine. It is undoubtedly a must-visit destination. Regrettably, my stay was limited to a single night, but I am eager to return and extend my stay to at least three or four days. My wife and I were captivated by the place and the hotel itself. The garden is particularly beautiful.

Stayed at the Palazzo del Capitano luxury hotel during a special 3-week trip celebrating my 61st birthday and 23rd wedding anniversary. I wanted a more authentic and intimate experience in Tuscany. With that in mind, I selected a small borgo in the beautiful hill country Val d’Orcia called San Quirico (where Palazzo Capitano is located) as a home base while visiting other nearby places such as Siena, Pienza and San Gimignano. This region is absolutely breathtaking. I can honestly say that our stay at Capitano was the highlight of our 3-week trip. San Quirico was so much more than I imagined it could be! It is a small but beautiful, historic village with the authenticity I desired and Palazzo del Capitano was the perfect spot! Nothing about this place is like a standard hotel, perhaps because it is run by a family that has history and much pride in their village. The staff feels more like old or new friends vs hotel employees; the property is stunning- from the garden bar and pool area to the quaint indoor/outdoor restaurant serving up wonderful tuscan meals using fresh ingredients from the surrounding land, including the daily breakfast (included with your stay) to the variety of guest rooms that are appropriately appointed blending the medieval charm with modern comforts such as air-conditioning, larger beds and bathrooms. Palazzo Capitano offers daily housekeeping services and luxe amenities- a spa, a food boutique and concierge services. I will say, this area is a bit remote and requires planning ahead for transportation to/from the village (the concierge can help coordinate this if requested). The value here is incredible, and most of all, by the time we left, we felt like family. I will be visiting here again soon and would highly recommend Capitano to anyone looking to visit this region… it is truly a diamond in the rough 😊

The room was not cleaned at the standard. We found in the bathroom a hair cap used by the previous clients. The water bottles were also dirty and remained from the other clients. The room itself didn’t seemed well cleaned.

cet hôtel n'a pas de parking, le parking public est loin et avec beaucoup de marches, les oublies dans la voiture son très pénalisant, son restaurant est à l'extérieur, dans le village, ma réservation prévoyait un jacuzzi dans la chambre, inutilisable (un débit d'eau incapable de le remplir, la nuit pour 350€ je suis très déçu. Pour parler le français ce n'était pas évident, une seule personne? le bon coté, un jolie jardin.

Our room was incredibly cozy, spotlessly clean, and filled with romantic character. The highlight was definitely the private spa experience, which was the perfect way to unwind. We also loved relaxing in the peaceful garden with a glass of local wine. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and breakfast was delicious. If you are looking for a charming, high-quality escape in the heart of Val d'Orcia, this is the perfect place. Highly recommended!

Returning 2 years later with great memories of our last stay we are very disappointed. This was an Air BnB experience and 4 star prices. Poor arrival and check in set the mood. The smallest bedroom and bathroom in the world (it was sold as small but at 160 a night we could not have been less pleased) chaotic breakfast, staff make you feel stressed. No check out. No contact during the stay, just very poor all round. This company has a monopoly in the town and this has not been a good thing. Just glad none of our friends went on our recommendation last time. You really need to look at the customer journey guys, it is not good for this price point. Only positive on our stay was Laura who was very nice and responsive.

Everything was excellent. We have traveled to Val D’Orcia 7 or 8 times, and can say that this is a perfect place to stay if staying in a town. The location is perfect for strolling through San Quirico and the broader Val D’Orcia. The breakfast is a great way to start the day. I think our group did most things on the SPA menu, and their services are top notch. Would certainly recommend a stay here.

We stayed in the presidential suite. The room was excellent and all the in-room facilities were excellent. However, the bathroom was quite small and not in proportion to the size of the room.

Palazzo del Capitano è un albergo diffuso da sogno nel cuore di San Quirico D'Orcia. Il nostro soggiorno (troppo breve!) è stato perfetto. La stanza è stupenda, con una vasca idromassaggio nel living. All'arrivo abbiamo utilizzato la Spa per un percorso benessere e un trattamento accompagnati dalla delicatezza e dalla competenza di Sara. Abbiamo provato il ristorante, buonissimo!, a cena, con un'ottima carta dei vini e un servizio impeccabile. Si può raggiungere in pochi passi il giardino per la colazione, con prodotti di qualità, tanta scelta e un'atmosfera magnifica. Ci siamo sentiti accolti e coccolati per tutto il soggiorno da uno staff gentilissimo e attento. Vorrei poter ricordare i nomi di tutti, dai ragazzi della reception che abbiamo conosciuto all'arrivo e al momento del check out, ai ragazzi che ci hanno servito da bere nel giardino e che ci hanno coccolati a colazione. Torneremo sicuramente! ♥️

Colazione alla carta invece di un buffet ben organizzato. In una giornata di grande affluenza abbiamo atteso 40 minuti per essere serviti.

Værelset møbleret med møbler i gammel stil, men ikke ægte gamle møbler. Der var sket en fejl med dobbeltbooking, som vi pt. undersøger ved Booking. com. Det var tilfældet for 3 ud af de 10 steder, vi boede. De andre to steder, tog de kun betaling for den ene, reelle booking, men her blev det en meget dyr overnatning, 3200 kr, for en nat! Vi forsøgte at argumentere for, at de alligevel ikke var fuldt bookede, at det ekstra værelse ikke skulle rengøres, at vi ikke skulle have dobbelt morgenmad, dobbelt velkomstdrink osv, men de var hverken til at hugge eller stikke i. De tilbød en flaske vin, vi kunne tage med os, den må siges at være betalt… Personalet var sådan set venligt nok, men de lagde alt ansvar over på booking.com og sagde, de ikke kunne gøre noget. Vi spiste endda på deres egen restaurant og lagde også en del penge her.

Quello che mi ha colpito di più del mio soggiorno è stata senza dubbio la colazione: ricca, curata e con tanti prodotti tipici toscani, sia dolci che salati.un piccolo momento speciale, tra sapori autentici e qualità eccellente.Un altro aspetto che ho davvero apprezzato è il bellissimo giardino esterno: uno spazio tranquillo e curato, perfetto per rilassarsi e godersi la pace della campagna toscana. Inoltre, a pochi passi dalla struttura si trovano delle botteghe molto carine: una dedicata a profumi per l’ambiente e per il corpo, e un’altra con prodotti tipici salati. Un tocco in più molto piacevole è stato lo sconto riservato agli ospiti e il piccolo omaggio ricevuto.Dettagli che rendono l’esperienza ancora più speciale e autentica.
