Beautiful property. Beautiful grounds. Lovely common spaces.

Starting with the snooty reception staff at check in, followed by a room that had the overwhelming odor of a backed up sewer (and the smell never went away to the point that it was hard to sleep), followed by two guests entering our room after we had checked in (assigned the same room), followed by some staff member expressing sincere apologies for this but never delivering on a promise he made, to an understaffed restaurant to the same reception staff showing absolutely NO regard for the odor in our room, I would say it has been the MOST expensive and LEAST pleasant stay of our Camino walk. We booked this hotel as a respite and it was far from that. We have had nice stays in every other place we’ve stayed on the Camino at a third of the price.

The views were magnificent, location excellent, beds comfortable and air conditioning made for a perfect getaway/ rest. The breakfast was exceptional. The pool a welcome distraction. I particularly loved the interior decoration and original artworks which was completed to perfection. You are paying for excellence.

Sehr unpersönliches Hotel welches sehr viele Gäste abfertigt. Das Frühstück war qualitativ schlecht- zudem war der Service prompt, aber sehr unpersönlich. Die Pool Anlage ist sehr nüchtern - die Fliesen am Pool grünlich und das lag nicht an der Farbe der Fliesen !

Spartan rooms. Zero facilities - no kettle, robes, slippers etc. Very monastic feel not befitting the price band. Very mediocre breakfast with zero explanation on how the buffet worked. Check in staff were unengaged and very indifferent with no attempt to make you feel welcome.

Everything was so beautiful and peaceful, lovely breakfast and the scenic walk around the fortress was amazing!

Beautiful parador and great views. Sun rise and sun set from the pool area atr spectacular. Very relaxing veranda to sit and drink on the evening. Would definitely stay again! Thankyou gor making our stay so magical.

The location was excellent with beautiful views. The room was comfortable, although I expected more from a superior room in a hotel of this price range. Breakfast had a great selection.

The staff members were some of the rudest I have come across in my entire life. From checking in to checking out we were treated with utter disdain. Management has some work to do on employee satisfaction, clearly. Not even a bottle of complimentary water in the room. A huge disappointment, overall. i will not stay at a Parador again.

Amazing property. Very comfortable and the food is just fantastic. The location is obviously beautiful and the historical aspect is unparalleled. Great spot to rest while walking the Camino. They let me check in early and what I loved very much, is that I would find little sitting areas throughout the property where I could read or just sit. Many times I was the only person in this area. The terrace in the salon was a hidden gem!

Logo no primeiro dia tive um acidente grave nas instalações do hotel. Um longo corredor de repente se dividia numa metade que seguia no mesmo nível e outra metade em uma rampa. Sem aviso nem separação física. Tomei uma queda muito violenta ferindo o braço e batendo a cabeça. Felizmente consegui me recuperar sem trauma mais sério. Poderia ter sido fatal. O hotel precisa resolver esse problema para evitar outros acidentes.

It's impossible yo give more than 3 stars Its SO OLD. Desperately in need of a total and complete upgrading. ALL the outdated furniture is only fit to be burnt on a bonfire. Bathrooms are ancient rubbish museum pieces. Nothing has changed since the 1980's Considering it's State owned , it's a very poor reflection of the government tourism office competence. Room rates are astronomically expensive for what is really only a 3 star old hotel. Location is fabulous and reception staff are friendly and everywhere is immaculately clean.. the ONLY positive comments Better is to stay elsewhere in the cute town at less than half these prices and walk around the ramparts of this Parador.

Cuando hay boda no puedes utilizar la terraza para desayunar, comer o cenar, que para mí es el lugar más especial. Y cuesta más aparcar cuando el precio para los alojados es el mismo. Las toallas tanto de piscina como de playa son demasiado pequeñas. Detalles como dejar bandejas de comida en los pasillos de la cena y seguir por la mañana en el mismo sitio. Lo he visto varios días no uno!.

Amazing setting, beautiful scenery, gorgeous property.

No customer service standards, all the staff were overworked and extremely stressed out, food quality a bit of a hit and miss. If you read all the reviews you will see quite a lot of tourists mentioning staff issues, especially at breakfast. They are all rushed off their feet, always a queue to get in, not a vegetable in sight at the breakfast buffet, hot options like eggs are by order only and you can’t get a waiter’s attention. Ordered the same food at dinner on separate occasions, looked completely different. Check pictures. Description in menu very different from reality (cod with beans and spinach had no spinach).

Third year in a row for our family road trip. The location is spectacular with a two tiered walk around the castle, swimming in the bay and places to eat in the harbor as well as at the hotel. Rooms are large and cheerful with views of the bay. We were on a two night, media pension rate which included breakfast each morning plus one main meal per day. Our first night we walked down about 100 yds to Enxebre, one of the main restaurants of the parador, for a lovely dinner on the terrace with beautiful views of the castle and sunset. My DIL's fell in love with the vieras (little scallops) there and in other parts of Asturias. The menfolk were in search of the best ham croquettes and chocolate con churros. Next day we had a nice Sunday lunch on the terrace of the main building. The bar service on the popular terrace on the other side of the building is slow and if you want a snack supper in the bar, I do not recommend it, for very slow service and small selection. Go back to Enxebre or walk down to town for a meal. The breakfast is wonderful, especially if the weather isn't too windy to sit on the terrace. Just beware of the robber seagulls that lurk about waiting to grab your toast or whatever else you've left unguarded when you go back to the buffet. My room #108 did not have a walk-in shower but was big, bright, good lighting with a reading chair as well as desk and chair. Two free bottles of water - We never did figure out why some of us got the water and others did not.

Our group stayed here on our Camino pilgrimage. An amazing discovery at the end of the first day of walking! Beautiful property with spectacular views. Huge pool, uncrowded, overlooking the ocean. Great food in the restuarant.

The location is simply incredible! Wonderful sea views on all sides, spectacular sunsets and scenery. Lovely swimming pool with grass garden provides for relaxing afternoons.

One or two issues with our bedroom doors that needed some maintenance.

Fantastisk beliggenhed og god morgenmad. Den udendørs terrasse ved baren havde en mageløs udsigt over Baiona bugten og mindre øer og ville være perfekt til Hollywoodfilm.

Uforskammet opførsel i receptionen. Ved udtjekning blev der uden et ord smidt en faktura på disken. Jeg bekræftede beløben, og igen uden et ord blev der peget på betalingsterminalen. Jeg betalte. Så var der en pause på 10-15 sekunder, hvorefter kreditkortkvitteringen blev smidt på disken. Ikke nogen tak eller farvel, eller "Håber I har nydt opholdet" eller "Vi håber at se jer igen". De spanske Paradoes er offentligt ejede. En sådan ligegyldig opførsel var aldrig fundet sted på et privatejet hotel. Efter rengøring på værelset var der kun et enkelt badehåndklæde, selvom det var tydeligt, at vi var to personer. Det gentog sig dagen efter. Først efter en henvendelse i receptionen fik vi to håndklæder. Lørdag aften var der kæmpe bryllup på hotellet. Søndag sidst på formiddagen stod/lå der stadig halvtomme drinksglas på mure og biler. Oplevelsen på det flotte hotel stod ikke mål med den vanvittigt høje værelsespris.

Lack of choice of hot food. Bacon, sausage and egg only. Pre Covid buffet used to include items such as hash browns, tomato as well as sausages and bacon. Hotels in general have never gone back to buffet style breakfast except for cold meats and cheese.

The bar on the terrace was beautiful. The views were amazing, the room was huge and beautifully decorated. They packed us a takeaway breakfast when we were leaving early next morning for the Camino.

I chose this hotel on purpose during my Camino because of its unique location and the chance to stay in a historic Parador. The location is absolutely incredible. The view from the restaurant and bar terrace overlooking the bay is breathtaking. Honestly, there’s nothing to complain about there. It’s simply beautiful. The hotel itself is a traditional Parador in an old historic building, so you have to like that kind of atmosphere. I did, and overall I thought it was a lovely place.

Unfortunately, one experience really let the hotel down. After a very long day walking the Camino, I arrived late and was looking forward to a hot shower. Considering this is not a cheap hotel, I expected everything to be clean. Instead, I found lots of hair from the previous guest still wrapped around the shower hose in the bathtub. It was really unpleasant and should never happen in a hotel at this price level. I reported it to the front desk. They told me someone would take care of it, which was fine, but what disappointed me most was the complete lack of an apology. No one simply said, “We’re sorry.” Even a small gesture, like offering a drink or a cocktail at the bar, would have shown that they cared about the guest experience. Instead, there was no apology and no effort to make up for the situation. That’s a real shame because the hotel has so much going for it. The location is spectacular, the views are unforgettable, and the building has plenty of character. But cleanliness and the way staff handle guest complaints are just as important. I hope they improve both, because this could easily have been a five-star experience.

Beautiful property and location. Unlike any other. I am an American so given the heat outside the AC struggled to keep the room comfortable.

The staff seemed slightly over tasked. They were all helpful and professional. But just always had that im one extra task away from blowing my lid feel. They needed a few more hands on deck to help keep things comfortable for them and thus us.

The hotel and setting is truly beautiful. It is a wonderful location with magnificent views. The interior is very grand and inspiring. Cocktails and service on the terrace was excellent.

Marginal issue but breakfast service could have been a little sharper. For example, an explanation of how things worked and checking if we wanted coffee before it was brought to the table.

We hebben al vaker parades geslapen, en meestal zeggen we dat de service een beetje Spaans is, wat betekent dat het niet altijd even fantastisch is. Maar in dit hotel was het gewoon helemaal top! Iedereen was even aardig, even service gericht, en even goed. Er waren zelfs personeelsleden die Engels spraken. We waren super verbaasd. Ook het ontbijt was fantastisch. De mensen bij het ontbijt ook. We gaan hier graag nog een keer naar terug!

First of all the building and location are superb. Go just for that! The hotel is based on a historic castle and surrounded by beaches. The lovely town of Baiona is a 15 minute walk. The bar terrace area has fantastic views, and the breakfast service is good.

The standard rooms are pretty average, and for this price point the bathroom was disappointing. No tea or coffee making facilities in room. While the bar setting was amazing, the service was a bit hit and miss and they seemed understaffed.

Puede ser por la habitación que nos tocó: La iluminación de la habitación era insuficiente y, además, al abrir las cortinas quedaba expuesta a numerosas ventanas lo que hacía que prácticamente no hubiera intimidad.

Para el precio que pagamos me parece un poco excesivo. La habitación era interior, y luego teníamos tampoco accesorios de baño (cepillo de dientes, peine...básicos).

I recently stayed at the Parador de Baiona as part of a tour across Spain. Having stayed at several other parador properties earlier in the trip, I arrived with a good understanding of the chain and what to expect. The setting is simply spectacular. The hotel occupies a unique location within the historic fortress overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Baiona. The parador chain has done an excellent job integrating a modern hotel into the old crenellated castle walls. The newer portions of the building utilize traditional architecture and period-inspired decor that complement the genuinely old fortress. Overall, I would describe the hotel as a very solid 4-star property. One thing I appreciated was that, unlike some other parador hotels, there was a bellman/porter available upon arrival to assist with luggage. Curiously, however, there was no bellman/porter available when it came time to check out and leave. Check-in was efficient, but there was no welcome letter or guest information provided. This felt like a missed opportunity. A welcome letter can be useful for explaining hotel amenities, dining options, services, and local attractions. In fact, I found it somewhat odd that there was virtually no information available anywhere about either the hotel or Baiona itself. My room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. However, as with other parador properties I visited, some amenities that many travelers would expect were absent. Most notably, there were no bathrobes or slippers. The minibar was stocked with water and soft drinks but contained no wine. I also noticed there was no stationery or postcard in the room. I would have enjoyed sending a postcard home. When I asked at the front desk whether postcards were available, I was told they did not have any postcards. Dinner and breakfast are served in the same dining room. The quality of the evening meal was excellent, and the service was impeccable. Unfortunately, the atmosphere did not match the quality of the food. The room still felt very much like the breakfast buffet area with cereals and other breakfast items remaining visible. It lacks the sense of occasion one expects from such a historic property. This is especially puzzling because the hotel has an attractive lobby bar in a separate space with outdoor seating. That area feels far more suitable for a memorable dining experience. Breakfast was very good. The buffet offered a strong selection from the buffet with an option for eggs cooked to order. There was even self-service cava sparkling wine available. Would I return? Absolutely. The location alone makes the Parador de Baiona worth visiting. The hotel delivers a comfortable and enjoyable stay. As it stands, I consider it a strong 4-star property. With a handful of relatively minor improvements, however, it could and should be a genuine 5-star experience.

Felt a bit dated, I was surprised that at this price point there was no bottled water in the room. Also, not a very pedestrian-friendly access being that I’m on the Camino.
