Beautiful gardens
Lack of maintenance….shower surround and floor damaged…grouting filthy….least amount of room for most amount of money of 6 properties stayed in….five euros to have room serviced….didn’t pay it….will not be returning….
The Castle itself is beautiful, with lovely grounds and a lot of character. The room decor and bedding were also very nice. Some of the dining staff were also lovely.
Unfortunately, the stay fell well short of what we expected. We booked a room at Lough Rynn Castle but were taken to accommodation outside the Castle, something that was not made sufficiently clear in our Booking.com booking, either on the direct booking page or in the policies. I have since noticed that this issue has also been raised in a number of reviews on this and other platforms. We only realised this when the porter began taking us outside. The accommodation required navigating limestone stairs and had no lift, which was particularly problematic for one member of our party who has had a double knee replacement. The check-in experience was disappointing. Although the room was technically ready shortly after 4pm, when I checked beforehand I was told they would “do their best” rather than being given confirmation, which added to the uncertainty. The room itself was nicely decorated and did not have an unpleasant smell. However, the building it was in had a strong, unpleasant smell. The bathroom was also tired and poorly maintained, with fittings having fallen off and chips to the mirror. More concerning was the overall handling of the situation and the suggestion that we were at fault for not raising the mobility issues sooner. I never thought I would need to ask for a room in the hotel I had booked, or to confirm the location of the room, particularly when we were told that the rooms had been checked in advance. I raised the concerns within a few hours of check-in, but was still told that I should have raised them sooner. Guests should not have to identify and report problems that should have been addressed before arrival, particularly when the accommodation description was unclear and the bathroom was not properly maintained. The explanation that “Lough Rynn Castle” refers to the entire estate does not address the fact that, as guests, we reasonably understood that we were booking accommodation in the Castle.
It was convenient for wedding attended.
Over priced for one night in a very standard 3 bed semi. Standard facilities, no towels, cheap soap. Expected more for 500e.
The grounds, and the overall ambiance of the hotel. The evening meal and breakfast. The staff.
Had to wait until 4:00 PM to get access to room. The floor creaked undefoot. The complimentary tea & coffee was stored in a press under the tv. The wardrobe was too high. The hangars in the wardrobe were too high for access and could not be detached from the rail to hang clothers. The information booklet was falling apart and bound with one stud the other stud was missing. A small stubby pencil was left for writing. It was very difficult to read anything on the left hand side of the information pages. The writing table and the bedside tables with stained and chipped. The sink in the bathroom was too small and chipped. I could not fit the kettle under the cold tap and had to carry glasses of water from the bathroom to the TV press to fill the kettle. The hot wat tap was loose. The room had a bathtub which was difficult to step in and out of. The bar staff were not trained to make cocktails and when asked for a glass of Redbreast 12 year old whiskey had to wait for 10 minutes until a bottle was found.

Beautiful settimg and great food at the hotel, lovely bar staff! The walk around the estate is just gorgeous.
Our bedroom could have really used a new mattress. The linen and branded towels were great, but a very uncomfortable sleep because of the old mattress.
The beautiful walled garden are worth the walk
My wife’s fish was under cooked in the restaurant. They apologised but it had an adverse affect on the dining experience and the special evening.
Stayed many times and always more fabulous everytime.
That I couldn't stay longer
The hotel and surrounding were fabulous Dinner and breakfast outstanding We were lucky to have an upgrade to the penthouse suite....fabulous
Stunning grounds
value for money
Very nice location, very friendly staff, comfortable bed and lovely breakfast
Staff very friendly, location good, food was good too. Room was okay needs a little updating - a fresh paint, a bit of a musty smell in the corridors. Bathroom needs updating, shower curtain mouldy and a damp smell - could be due to leaky bath. A comfortable sleep and not a sound at night. The gardens were beautiful to walk around and very well maintained.
Stunning property and grounds
Superbe lieu
Everything. It was perfect.
Nothing.
Beautiful place - the grounds are amazing and the interior of the castle is beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our bathroom sink and they gave us an upgrade which was a lovely bonus!
Nothing- we loved it!

Everything was wonderfull thank you
breakfast was good, location was good
The "fine dining" was disappointing. also the hotel did not have either skimmed milk or semi skimmed milk for coffees and breakfast - we had to buy our own

Excellent
I liked everything . It exceeded my expectations.
Breakfast was nice but missed having some sort of buffet. Gardens were amazing
Room had windows that didn't open resulting in room being very hot. Strange having curtains in bathroom.
Great novelty to stay in a castle with lovely grounds. Lovely evening meal in the bar and great breakfast.
The dungeon bar is only open for weddings but they let us have a look.
Nice quite get away
Disappointed with breakfast eg no variety of fruit. Carpet on stairs looked bad
Prachtige tuin, mooi authentiek ingericht en mooie comfortabele kamer
Beetje koud tijdens het eten. Grote ruimte en de haard was niet aan.
Very clean and quiet
Die Lage, das Haus, der Garten...
What’s not to like if you want some peace & quiet, beautiful grounds and walks - just sitting outside on the lawn or in the courtyard was rejuvenating. The history of the castle and all the interior was wonderful.
A bit of a drive to get there. (If you are rushed for time, looking for proximity to a city centre, or for entertainment, this is not your place)
Lovely hotel in fabulous grounds ,all the stuff were very nice. First class breakfast would say again.
We had dinner in the bar the table was very low, fine if you only wanted finger food. We had the salmon with green beans that was swimming in oil , very disappointed.
Lovely surprise trip from my daughter & husband
Liked everything
It’s a stunning place, we were here for a wedding and it was just beautiful, accommodation was so comfortable
Breakfast and dinner were excellent, loved the location, walks and garden
It's a bit far from the nearest town, Mohill, if you had to walk it.

Beautiful location, great staff.
Nice food, very relaxing place The grounds were lovely and kept in excellent condition
I would have preferred a self-serve breakfast for cereals and fruit.
Breakfast was excellent in a lovely setting
No swimming pool or Spa
We loved our bedroom, which was in the main house and had a four-poster bed which was extremely comfortable. There was a beautiful drawing room downstairs where it was lovely to relax in by an open fire. Food was also excellent, as was the ambience generally. We walked the grounds as well, and they were also wonderful with a beautiful walled garden overlooking a stunning lake which we could see from our bedroom. All in all, it is a great place to just chill out. And to top it all, the staff whom I met were all so pleasant to deal with. We will be back.
