A choice of times for the morning game drive would have been great. It makes you realise how good the place is when about the only complaint is that the hanging rack proved to be a bit difficult to use as it was high and fixed

Reviewed Aug 13, 2026الخدمة جداً ممتازة عموما من كل الموظفين وخصوصا من ويل جعل التجربة استثنائية. اختيار الموقع الطبيعي ممتاز اطلالات رائعه في كل الاتجاهات الوجبات كانت محضره بشكل جيد الاجواء الليلية رائعه كانت ليلة واحدة لكن عن عدت ليالي لسوء الحض كان الجو ممطر و قت السفاري لذا لم نتمكن من رؤية الحيوانات لكن كان قائد الجولة يحاول بشتى الطرق.

Reviewed Apr 16, 2026Unser Aufenthalt in diesem Luxusresort war ein absolutes Highlight und hat unsere Erwartungen sogar noch übertroffen. Die Unterkunft selbst war wunderschön und sehr luxuriös – wir waren wirklich positiv überrascht von der Ausstattung. Besonders die Außendusche und die stilvolle Badewanne haben das Erlebnis noch einmal besonders gemacht. Das gesamte Personal war ausgesprochen freundlich, hilfsbereit und sehr aufmerksam, sodass wir uns rundum wohl und willkommen gefühlt haben. Auch kulinarisch war alles auf höchstem Niveau: Das Essen war nicht nur sehr schön angerichtet, sondern auch ausgesprochen lecker. Ein ganz besonderes Lob gilt unserem Guide bei den Safaris. Durch sein großes Wissen und seine Leidenschaft hat er uns unglaublich viel über die Tierwelt nähergebracht. Dank ihm konnten wir viele Tiere sehen und spannende Einblicke gewinnen – das hat die Morgen- und Abendpirsch zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis gemacht. Wir können dieses Resort von Herzen weiterempfehlen!

For what we paid, there were a couple of things that could have been better. First, there is a wasp problem within the dining area...while the wasps are not dangerous (per the staff), it would have been nice to eat without them flying around. Second, we also did not think that the food was up to par with what one would expect a $1500 night stay would provide. Kind of was a little bland and uninspired. Finally, there were things that felt like we were being nickel and dimed on, such as being charged for non-alcoholic beverages and/or bottled water.

It is an area of magnificent beauty, but the ‘veld’ of the property seems rather under managed - a lot if invasive plants, the dirt roads are in particularly bad shape.

Construction in the lodge next to ours when we returned after game ride all three days we were there. No sound after lunch. Also the open fires in the lodge and the smoke can cause headaches. Interesting in the evening the smoke was not prevalent so air circulation must have been issue.

Reviewed Dec 5, 2025In the most stunning location. We were blown away from the moment we arrived and greeted by the staff. We were on our honeymoon so lucky enough to be in the honeymoon suite which is the most magnificent room we’ve ever stayed in. With the most comfortable bed - which you could watch the animals from. The food was delicious from the breakfast to dinner they were the best meals we had all holiday. And finally the safari trips. We were very lucky to have Simba as our guide. His knowledge of the wildlife and their environment is second to none. We learnt so many interesting things.

Reviewed Nov 24, 2025Ein einmaliges Erlebnis! Wir hatten „Tent No. 19“ und konnten verschiedene Tiere beim Grasen direkt vor dem Balkon sehen. Das Zimmer ist luxuriös eingerichtet. Neben einer freistehenden Badewanne gesellte sich noch ein schöner Kamin. Das Bett war üppig, sehr bequem und mit tollem Ausblick. Das Zimmer war zudem sehr groß. Da geht man auch gern den etwas längeren Weg zur Rezeption, wobei wir in den meisten Fällen von einem Cart mitgenommen wurden. Der Aufenthalt ist als Vollpension angelegt; alle Malzeiten waren reichhaltig und qualitativ hochwertig und ließen nichts zu wünschen übrig. In unseren Arrangement war zudem zwei „Game Drives“ (Jeep Safaris) enthalten - einer als Sundowner von 15:30 bis 18:30, einer am Morgen von 6 bis 9. Beide Fahrten waren atemberaubend mit vielen Tieren (Löwen, Elefanten, Nashörnern, Büffeln, Giraffen, Impalas, Nilpferden, …). Der Guide (Innocent) war super, kannte sich bestens aus und war zudem sehr humorvoll. Insgesamt eine für immer bleibende Erfahrung. Vielen Dank dafür! Volle Punktzahl in allen Kategorien.

Reviewed Nov 17, 2025We stayed at Safari Tented Lodge for 1500 dollars and it was the worst experience of our trip in South Africa. 1. This is not a real tented lodge and the description is misleading The hotel describes itself as a tented lodge, but it is actually a normal room with a metal roof. Inside there is a fabric that looks like a tent, but it is only decoration. It feels like false advertising. If they wanted tents, they could have built real tents. The rooms were clean, but very simple and nothing special. They did not feel premium at all. 2. The restaurant staff was the worst on our whole trip The service in the restaurant was very bad. The staff did not come to the tables. I had to stand up every time to call someone. No one explained how the meals work, what time to come or where to sit. Later we found out that we cannot choose our table and must sit at the one they assign, but no one told us about this. The staff was not friendly and did not help. They just stood there and did nothing. 3. The food was great The only really good thing was the food. The portions were big, the meals were very tasty and the chef clearly knows what he is doing. We enjoyed the food a lot. 4. The hotel looks old and not worth the price For 1500 dollars we expected something nicer. The furniture was old and did not match. The outside of the hotel also looked tired and not well maintained. There was no feeling of comfort or style. 5. The safari is not a real safari It felt more like a big open zoo. There were very few animals. Five giraffes, two lions and three cheetahs. The area is full of hills with short bushes. It does not look like the flat savanna that people imagine. There is also a power line running through the land and it looks strange. 6. Our guide Silas was the only good part We want to thank Silas. He was the only person who made our day better. He was professional, kind and helpful. Final conclusion This hotel is not worth the price.

Besonders toll sind aber die Game Drives am Morgen und Nachmittags, sehr netter Umgang der Guides untereinander und mit den Tieren. Wir hatten ein paar atemberaubende drives - besonderer Dank an Guide Neil! Wir werden definitiv wiederkommen.

Reviewed Nov 8, 2025Personal, Sauberkeit tadellos. Die Lodge geräumig, luxuriös. Blick vom Bett in die Wildnis. Frühstück gut, die Gerichte beim Lunch und Dinner wirklich outstanding. So lecker! Wir hatten 2 Übernachtungen und konnten 4 Safaritouren a 3 Stunden machen. Haben alles an Tieren gesehen, was wir uns nur vorstellen konnten. Dazu die phantastische Begleitung durch den kompetenten Guide. Wenn man dies alles zusammenfasst, ist der Preis dann doch durchaus gerechtfertigt.
Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden.

Reviewed Oct 19, 2025What a wonderful stay — but far too short. During our trip along the Garden Route, we absolutely wanted to do a game drive, so we booked one night here. But take our advice: one night here is simply not enough. To fully experience this place, you actually need at least two, maybe even three nights. Anyway, for anyone looking for a true safari experience in the western part of South Africa, there’s only one thing to say: Botlierskop is absolutely the right choice. Of course, it’s not Kruger — but hey, you know that in advance, and this reserve is clearly very well managed, and sustainably too. As for the accommodation: absolutely fantastic. Extremely spacious tented lodges with every imaginable comfort — and what views! We stayed in one of the lower lodges overlooking a pond where rhinos and buffaloes came to drink, just a few meters below us — truly breathtaking. The 3.5-hour game drive at sunset was educational and perfectly guided by Mel. The fact that we didn’t see lions didn’t matter at all — the rhinos, hippos, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, wildebeests, giraffes and zebras more than made up for it. Finally, the staff were friendly and discreet — what more could you ask for? We’ll definitely be back, next time with our children. Thank you!
Everything was absolutely perfect… except for our own mistake of booking only one night. We only did a single game drive (at sunset), but you should really do at least two — ideally at different times of the day. (We can easily imagine that in the morning you’d get to see different animals and scenes.) And please, don’t get fixated on 'having to see' lions (for example) — that’s simply not how it works, and that’s exactly what makes it authentic. Otherwise, you might as well go to a zoo. Just let things come to you... And yes, the price is clearly on the higher side — but then again, it's a choice, and you definitely get your money’s worth.

De dieren wandelen s morgens aan je neus voorbij, prima service en de gamedrives vakkundig met ervaring en vriendelijke gidsen met kennis van de dieren! Topervaring, zeker zijn geld waard! Restaurant lekker en niet prijzig!
Ondenkbaar om hier iets te verbeteren ..’. Is niet goedkoop maar de ervaring is zijn geld waard!

Reviewed Sep 12, 2025The tented suite was absolutely stunning! Beautifully furnished and well thought out design with spectacular views!! Great big dining hall with beautiful walk in fireplaces which were always lit - created a wonderful atmosphere! The spa was superb although sadly neither the sauna nor the steam room were at temperature for usage after our spa treatments. Dinner off the grill menu was superb! Meat was beautifully cooked, whilst I like my vegetables al dente these were borderline raw and took some chewing.
Staff could have been a bit sharper at meal times. Cutlery cleared once orders had been taken, for example fish cutlery and soup spoon when neither had been ordered. We ordered steaks two nights in a row and on both occasions had to request a steak knife when this could have just been offered. Sadly the breakfast offering whilst still very good was not up there with other offerings we have had in Cape Town. Quality of the produce was not quite there and the hot breakfasts need some seasoning.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2025We had superb game drives with our guide Austin. We were super lucky to see some extra ordinary actions like the lions chasing cheetahs and catching a gnou for breakfast. Room was very nice and bed very good. Spa also very nice.
- fixed tables according to room number gives a canteen feeling - food not extraordinary - weird to have to pay for drinks (even water, softs etc) when on full board - reception staff not genuinly friendly - gives a 'factory' feeling instead of an authentic experience - walk to rooms is long and steep - I'm 6 months pregnant and was quite a challenge - we had monkeys outside our room so could not go on our terrace or leave a window open
