The breakfast was fresh and lovely. We also booked dinner one night and it was delicious. The area was walkable to different parts of the town.
Location close to town but far from noisy center. Outside view room is amazing.
For the price of the room, the shower head, water pressure, and temperature control could have been better.
Immaculate location, well connected with bus drop off at Kirche bus stop, unbelievable views of the Eiger mountains, cozy breakfast, and top it all a family run business which cares
Absolutely nothing !
The views anywhere around the hotel and village were exceptional.
I have zero complaints
Lovely Mechal family Nice room view parking free Good breakfast & room size amazing The wifi very fast Room # 32 has two side view to the mountain and back green landscape in level 3 floor, there is an elevator

The room, large, comfortable, cosy with a view. Good breakfast with sunrise on the glacier view and an excellent 3 services dinner. Everybody was very friendly and helpful during our stay.

The hotel was very special. Great location. Clean and comfortable room with an amazing balcony. Wonderful staff.
We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Gletschergarten and enjoyed every moment. The hotel is very well located, opposite the Kirsche and with a bus stop outside, so it is either a short bus ride (with luggage) or a short walk into the centre of Grindelwald. Gery, Gabriela and their family are warm and welcoming hosts and were super helpful in giving good advice on the local area and organising tickets from the front desk. We had a wonderful stay.
The location is perfect, at the end of Grindelwald so quiet and stunning views of the mountains from hotel windows. The family run hotel welcomes you warmly. Rooms are bright clean and have views to take your breath away. Breakfast all you want.
One of our favorites stays ever, we felt like this family provided some of the best hospitality possible during our stay. Everyone was pleasant and helpful from service at dinner to buying tickets for excursions. The room was clean, spacious and well appointed. Dinner in the restaurant is a bargain with 4 delicious courses for 54CHF as of this writing. I strongly recommend staying here for three nights if you can and having at least one dinner at the Fiescherblick Michelin starred restaurant next door. The views are terrific from restaurant to room and the Wi-Fi was strong and fast, and the washer/dryer, while a bit clunky to use, are very welcome when you are traveling for a long while.
Convenient location, fantastic mountain view; good breakfast; warm and welcoming hosts; modern rooms with a traditional spirit. Very clean.
We had a great stay. Our room was very clean and comfortable, the restaurant was amazing, and the staff was incredibly helpful (they helped us find hiking trails and purchase gondola tickets). The location is also great - not in the busiest part of town so it is relatively quiet, but still close to everything. Could not have asked for anything more.
We stayed in the Family Room Hohturnen, which was perfect for our needs. Service was the best, especially in this regard: selling us tickets for local gondolas, cable cars, and cog railways. There is absolutely no reason to purchase tickets online in advance. Simply go to the front desk each morning, where the manager has a ticket machine, with which he's happy to generate tickets. If you don't use the tickets, he can provide a refund later the same day. This service removes the anxiety of trying to obtain tickets remotely in advance.
The room was spacious. The bed was very comfortable, the sheets were clean and fresh, and the bathroom was clean.
The location was very misleading. Booking.com advertises the hotel as being 400 metres from the centre, but our experience was very different. It is approximately 1.2 km from Grindelwald Station, which is a long uphill walk with luggage, a stroller, or young children. This is something travellers should be aware of before booking. There is no air conditioning, and there are no fly screens on the windows. We had to keep the windows open because if we kept them closed, the room became too hot. During the night, I was bitten by multiple mosquitoes, making it difficult to sleep. Although the room itself was spacious and clean, the rest of our experience was extremely disappointing. The elevator had an unpleasant smell, and the breakfast was very basic with very little variety. The most disappointing part of our stay was the behaviour of the owners. Instead of making guests feel welcome, we constantly felt as though we were being watched. There was very little sense of privacy, and it felt like our every move was being monitored. At breakfast, my wife, daughter, and I each took three eggs (nine eggs in total). The owners approached us in front of other guests and told us we needed to leave eggs for everyone else, despite breakfast being included in the price we had paid. We found this embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. When I later tried to discuss the matter with the owner, there was no apology or understanding only a defensive response. He stated that he only eats one egg himself and that this was why his wife approached us about not wasting food, even though eating three eggs each is completely normal for us. The cancellation policy was equally disappointing. We were advised that even cancelling shortly after making the booking would still result in the full amount being charged, showing very little flexibility or consideration for guests.
The location and friendliness of the staff! Can definitely tell it’s family run!
Nothing. Everything was great.

Sehr nettes und überdurchschnittlich engagiertes Besitzer-Ehepaar; gemütliches Zimmer und sehr gutes Frühstück; wenn man keine Lust verspürt, abends ewig eine Gaststätte zu suchen, kann man sehr gut im Hotel Gletschergarten selbst essen; Ort ist am Tag sehr lebendig, wird aber in der Nacht deutlich ruhiger;
Wonderful stay at Hotel Gletschergarten! This was our first stop on our Switzerland holiday and we are so glad we picked this hotel. The hospitality was amazing, with the interaction with the family owners a joy. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The location excellent and within walking distance to activities in the area. The included breakfast was a great way to start our day and the coffee was amazing. Our only regret was not planning more time there and we will definitely do that next time.
Great location, nice room and the owners and staff were very helpful, we had a very enjoyable stay
Fantastic views of the mountains
A wonderful hotel with an amazing view from the balcony of our room! Gerry, Gabriela and their team were very responsive and great hosts!!
Sehr nettes Personal, sauber

This was one of our favorite stays in Switzerland! My daughter stayed here on her honeymoon, recommended it, and we are so glad she did. First off, when we arrived, there had been an issue with our reservation and my card payment. They tried to rectify it multiple times but had no luck with the reservation system we used. Thankfully, they kept space available for us by upgrading to a lovely, 2 bedroom apartment with the most amazing view! The breakfast is all you could ask for in the morning and the location is perfect! It's an easy walk to either of the gondola's and either a short bus ride or a fun walk through town to the train. The place was immaculate and all the staff were extremely friendly. It is the quintessential Swiss hotel and you won't be disappointed.
Gabriela and Gery are superb hosts of their delightful hotel that has been in the family for over 125 years. And it shows as it is wonderfully relaxed and yet extremely efficiently run. Very comfortable bedroom with superb views up to the mountains from the spacious balcony. Nothing is too much trouble and of course their knowledge of everything in the area is second to none. Excellent breakfasts and dinners. Very friendly and efficient service at all meals. The position of the hotel on the edge of Grindelwald is absolutely perfect. A bus outside the door to the station or chairlifts or mountains!! Away from the throng of tourists in the centre. It is a must stay place! Thank you
The best dinner we had in this trip
Everything is good
The view was unbelievable! The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very good.
The bathrooms were sufficient but just a little cramped
Located under the imposing and breathtaking peaks of the Eiger, Monch, and Schreckhorn, Hotel Gletschergarten is a wonderful place to stay. Our room was well appointed and the bathroom was updated and modern. The hotel is full of interesting architectural details. They have a breakfast buffet filled with local cheese and traditional Swiss breakfast items. The hosts Gabriela and Gery are 4th and 5th generation owners of the hotel and they are extremely welcoming and enthusiastically share their knowledge of the area. My wife and I were on our 4th day of a driving tour, and maybe a little naively surprised by the numbers of other tourists. We asked Gery and his wife for a hiking trail that might be less crowded. The came up with a great suggestion that was both stunningly beautiful and without other people. In the 7 miles we hiked we encountered maybe 5 other people. It was mostly just nature and the wonderful serenade of the cows and their bells. It was perfect. We even found some " wild cheese and sausage" which was a remote barn with a fridge full of local cheese and sausage and a honor system payment box. It was a perfect day all thanks to Gery and Gabriela!
This is a fabulous hotel. The views are spectacular, the hosts are so gracious and helpful, and the location can't be beat. We loved it.
Fantastic stay with my teenage son. So relaxing and beautiful and great really helpful hosts. Lovely to sit on the balcony or terasse with a glass of wine and the views 😀
A group of 4 women, ages 70 - 81 did a supported hike (luggage transfer) in the Jungfrau region of the Alps. Gabriela and Gery's beautiful Hotel Gletschergarten is located in a pretty little mountain town with incredible views. The food was great, workers very nice, and we had a balcony that got maximal use. Most importantly, Gabriela and Gery went out of their way to help us at the beginning of our trip when we were still very unsure of how the transportation up there works, how to find trail heads, etc. They booked us train tickets and even booked an extra hotel so part of our party could avoid a particulary difficult hike. They got us off to a great start on an incredible journey. I would return again, just to stay with them in Grindelwald.
Traditional
No air conditioning, Grindelwald suffers with an extraordinary amount of flies!
We stayed here for 2 nights in late May 2026. Our room was very comfortable for 2 people with great mountain views. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and the buffet style breakfasts had numerous options to choose from. We very much enjoyed our stay here and should our future travel plans take us to Grindelwald we would stay here again!
Close to town, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful views, cozy feel, clean and spacious rooms
A super family run hotel in a great location. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I’m struggling to think of when we’ve been looked after better. Really comfortable spacious room and incredible views from our balcony. Food was first class.
Nothing.
Just returned from a wonderful stay at this family-owned hotel. Warm and friendly staff, comfy beds, quiet rooms, and a delicious breakfast (amazing breads, jams and fresh fruit selection). Beautiful views out every window, plenty of storage space in our room for our gear and clothing. There's an immaculate and modern wellness spa with a steam room, sauna and relaxation room, a really charming common area, well-appointed with plenty of seating (see photo) and a large games room for kids. Highly recommend.
This was an amazing hotel in Grindelwald. The people that work there are super nice and friendly! Good location as everything is no more than a 15 min walk. Would definitely recommend and stay again!
I have so many great things to say about this hotel…its location is the best and I swear it has the BEST view in town. We stayed in a junior suite in room 337 and it had the most amazing wrap around balcony with the most incredible view of the gorgeous mountains I have ever seen in my life. I have traveled a lot and this view hands down takes the cake. The room was so comfortable with just enough modern touches but still keeping the wonderful traditional Swiss chalet charm. The hotel is what you think of when you think of Switzerland…a beautiful traditional wooden chalet with flower boxes lining the balconies…it was just perfect!!! We added on a half board and I’m so glad we did! Breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious every single meal and it was so nice to just go downstairs for dinner after a long day of exploring. The owners were absolutely phenomenal and so kind and helpful…you can tell they take great pride in their beautiful hotel and making sure each guest is happy and taken care of. We stayed for 9 nights in Switzerland…4 of which were at Hotel Gletschergarten and it is hands down our favorite from our whole trip. I cannot recommend enough!! Do yourself a favor and book this amazing hotel. You will not be disappointed. The memories we made here will last and stay with us forever. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🇨🇭 We chose a cheap double standard room, but the madam gave us a expensive double superior room for the same price. She is like a teacher. She treated us like family. they only wanted our happiness. Sir also very kind, respectful, helpful person. No words to explain. we felt comfortable stay. The rooms ❤️are very clean, comfortable with balconies enjoying the nice mountain views. great location with the + 🅿️ good breakfast☕️ I recommend 100% this beautiful hotel and will hope to stay here again.😊 Nishantha & Anne Perera From 🇱🇰 🇫🇷 👍
Beautiful, magical and wonderful experience. Attentive to details and staff ensuring a comfortable stay. Rooms updated beautifully maintaining Swiss charm. Views for days! Heaven scented flowers throughout. Best place to stay in Grindelwald.
A warm and friendly welcome greeted my friend and me as we finished a very strenuous hike the day of our visit. The owners of this beautiful hotel treated us like family, the room was comfortable, the view incredible and the restaurant meals delicious. The owners graciously helped us solve a ticket mishap that allowed us to continue our Bernese Oberland hike stressfree! We will always remember the stop in Grindelwald!
We (myself - the mother and 2 sons (19, 20) stayed in the apartment Wetterhorn, owned by the Hotel Gletschergarten, and almost opposite to it. It's a wonderful location, close to the centre (about 10-15 mins walk) and with exceptionally large, sunny terrace with breathtaking views. The apartment is very convenient, it has everything one might need, a bedroom with 2 beds, a very large sitting room and kitchen area, and another bed which could be for one or two people, as well as a very comfortable sofa. There is enough room for 5 people. Towels and sheets are provided as well as some condiments and soaps/shampoo. It's very clean and well organised. there is a bakery opposite which opens at 7am and also stocks essentials like eggs & milk, and a supermarket is only 10mins away, as well as another bakery/cafe. Great walks/hikes directly from the apartment and the wonderful Gabriela and Gerhard are there to answer any questions! We appreciated the flexibility of not having a Saturday check-in and the possibility of staying 5 nights. Overall - a lovely trip and we were sad to leave...Price-wise it was very reasonable given the similar accommodation options and probably much more convenient!
Amazing family run hotel & restaurant. We stayed for 3 nights in one of their private apartments. It was spotlessly clean and very spacious with the most magnificent view of the Eiger from our balcony. The hosts are very welcoming and the food served in their restaurant is delicious and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend this very special place
This little privately owned hotel in the mountains is the greatest. I took my whole family there the first part of June. Hotel is very old family owned business for over a hundred years I think. It’s in great shape and the owners take great pride in their business. Rooms are nice and the meals are good. Note they are in the mountains so no AC . We happened to be in town when temps were in the 90s (very uncommon) All in all we had a great time in a great hotel.
The breakfast was simple but good. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was clean, good sized.
The hotel room is so clean and new! The staff are very polite and helpful. The breakfast has many options and all are tasteful. The hotel location is perfect. It is excellent value for money!
This is a charming hotel actively run by the 4th and 5th generations of the family. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. You can easily buy the necessary tickets for local excursions right at the front desk, and the staff is very knowledgeable about all the area attractions. There is a city bus that stops right outside the hotel, making it very easy to get to the train station and other places without walking. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, with great balconies for enjoying the beautiful mountain views. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again!
The owners couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Although it was unusually warm, the evenings cooled off and the fresh air from outside was great for sleeping. I very much enjoyed staying here and would recommend it to others.
Beautiful Ambience , so well maintained , taking care of all the intricacies…Kind and humble hosts , efficient and polite staff…We had a wonderful stay and leaving with beautiful memories
We loved our trip to Grindelwald and are so glad we chose Hotel Gletschergarten. Our room had a beautiful patio The owners weee very helpful in arranging our transport as well as buying our tickets to Jungfrau train would highly recommend and hope we can return Thank you for a great stay
Great location, staff and owners super friendly and helpful. Rooms clean, quiet and have the character of the swiss chalet. Excellent visit and would definately go back. Some old world swiss charm. Dinner is excellent value and they would make a reservation for their guests.
Our experience at Hotel Gletschergarten was excellent. Everyone there including the owners were very welcoming.
We absolutely LOVED our experience at this hotel. The hospitality was top notch and the history and charm were lovely. Our room was nothing too large or fancy, but very tastefully done, clean, and well maintained. We felt it was perfect for the region and price point. Gabriela and Gery were so helpful in every possible way. The view from our terrace was unbeatable and the location was great. We will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone we know traveling to Grindelwald and if we ever return, we will most definitely plan to stay again.
Gabriela and Gery were very welcoming. Our room was very clean, and nice with a balcony. The location is close to Grindelwald First. They have a game room and washer/dryer. We will come back to this hotel next time we visit Grindelwald!
Incredibly friendly staff, very accommodating. Truly an outstanding experience, would stay here again.
Breakfast was great. Owner was extremely friendly and helpful. They had low capacity so they upgraded our room for free.
It's super beautiful and clean. There is a bus stop nearby very convenient.
Buffet petit dej magnifique
Emplacement.
It was authentic hotel, beautiful location and interior. Staff are friendly and a quiet comfortable nights sleep
