Very strategic location, the atmosphere was superb, an economical friendly hotel. Room was simply superb, clean and tidy with nice decorations. Lots of activities arranged for the customers by hotel management . The rate was very reasonable for the service offered to us.
A very pleasant hotel and Spa but is a bit pretentious in what it's trying to be. They need to keep it simple. The rooms are good and simple, the food is good, the facilities are good. There is no need for them to go with Astrologer who sits there all evening in the mosquitos and a high end shop that sits empty.
Very homely and natural
Stayed 2 nights at Sparsa Thiruvanamalai and it was a truly memorable experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the property felt just like home. Surrounded by nature, it has a beautiful eco-friendly vibe. There are plenty of activities for guests, such as pottery and bullock cart rides, which made the stay even more special. The food was good, rooms were spacious and clean, and overall it was a unique experience. Definitely recommend this place when visiting Thiruvanamalai.
Location and ambiance was good, Buffet breakfast was great, typical South Indian dishes, the staff were humble, helpful and courteous .I liked very much the greenery and stone construction cottages. I give full marks to hospitality.
I pen these words even as I am relaxing in the cool comfort of my weekend cottage at Sparsa Resort at Thiruvannamalai !, As one who has has been a traveller to Thiruvannamalai in pursuit of spiritual awakening, Ramanashramam has become a sort of haven to know " Who I am ," for how many years I dont recall . I have always stayed at the Ashram guest house in the past which would be clean and spartan in utilities but quite comfortable, but with No ac facilities. In summer it can be quite difficult for Sr citizens to manage and choosing the cooler months of November to February would make more sense . But then its also a peak season , when foreign devotees and travellers come calling to Thiruvannsmalai and getting accommodation at Ashram can be difficult. So, I became a seeker of a hotel or a resort to stay at my convenient time with Ac comfort , a few years ago for a perfect place to stay during my annual pilgrimage to Thiruvannamalai ! I am glad I did find the best place then, to stay with family and friends called the " Sparsa Resort " " Change " is understood as the only thing that is permanent in this World or Prapancham ! But time appears to stand still If one gets into an euphoric state thanks due to Immediate people you meet or your finding a Perfect place to stay ,that vibrates in resonance with your persona. I pen these words even as I relax in the cool comfort of my weekend retreat cottage at Sparsa Resort at Thiruvannamalai, where to me time still stands still . The warm welcome & friendly Cool Comfort with sathvic food and above all the hospitality of GM LakshmiNaraynan and Chef Mathivanan and their staff hasn't changed at all !, As stated above change is the permanent thing in the world and Thiruvannamalai town too is no exception to the changes . These days the town witnesses a sea of humanity moving in from.other states like Andhra and with that comes growth leading to to huge number of bustling cars, trucks, buses , motor bikes ,shops ,shops and more shops and new structures in temples forms not to forget huge commercial buildings too that are now adorning every nook and corner of this small town I must confess that this once a quite spiritual town has become yet another buzzing commercial centre with spirituality getting lost somewhere amidst all this buzzing!!. Herein comes forth , The Sparsa Resort a wonderfully crafted resort amongst verdant fully grown trees well manicured lawns ,a swimming Pool and backed by a good 24 hour restaurant stand by power ! The cottages built of granite blocks fully air-conditioned and with all modern comfort creatures ensures, one to retire to after a tiring trips to the famous temples or Ahrams that abound in the busy town roads Of Thiruvannamalai. Sparsa has been around for some years now serving the devotees to this spiritual town , offering the best accommodation with abundant population of peacocks while offering other activities to travellers like Yoga ,Ayurvedic massage , recreation centre like any other resort but with one fundamental rule to be followed implicitly and strictly - No alcohol No drugs policy . They have 36 deluxe rooms and 2 super deluxe rooms and one suite . With tariff ranging form 7500+ tax to Rs 13000+ tax But one needs to book well in advance to ensure they get to stay here and enjoy their genuine hospitality in star comfort - like home away from home but far away from the ever increasing maddening crowds and plethora off all hues of vehicles but yet close to the Ashrams for persueing one's spiritual visits !
Very good food, very good property. Very scenic and lot of greenery. Eco friendly and good food with very good hospitality
Really wow... I will definately, visit again very soon with my co-orparate friends. 100% worth of it. Especially the Resturant food taste was amazing, Swimming pool, Astrolger, Hand craft, Spa, recreation room for kids, Tea Kadi, Poo kadi etc.,
This was our 3rd visit to this place. The moment you enter the premises, you feel the positive energy of this holy place slowly engulfing you. The staff is very helpful, courteous. The space inside offers adequate privacy as well as ample opportunities to keep yourself engaged. The food is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. They have improved vs last time, but more options could make it a little better. Delicious food, but options are limited. Breakfast, however, was lavish.
The staff at the property are so kind and caring. They helped my picky eater stay nourished and were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying here for a full mind body and soul reset.
I wanted to share my appreciation as I have been visiting Sparsa Resort for the past 22 years. The experiences I receive each time are mostly consistent and always pleasant. The rooms are clean and comfortable 🛏️, and your staff are extremely friendly, making me feel right at home. The food is delicious with plenty of options to choose from 🍽️. The quiet environment is perfect for someone like me who travels solo to Tiruvannamalai for a spiritual experience 🧘♂️. Thank you for maintaining such a wonderful place. I look forward to my next visit! Saravanan (Singapore)
Very clean
Great place to stay. Comfortable resort, great food.
Wonderful experience. Highly recommend
Few things need im
Place is calm and neat. Suited for friend and family. Food was good and pure veg. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Must try in thiruvannamalai
It's wonderful experience rooms also very clean and food was awesome.the place was so nice it's looking like separate island
Good food
We enjoyed the hotel gardens, lovely pool and room which despite being basic, was clean and comfortable. Bathroom needs updating though. Enjoyed the food in the vegetarian restaurant especially the thali we had for lunch one day which was excellent. Would have liked if there was some entertainment in evenings as there was nothing to do after dinner. No bar as hotel doesn't serve alcohol. There is a games room which we visited and played table tennis. On the whole it was fine for 1 night stay
This is an amazing holiday resort. I wish we had a couple of more days to spend here. Staff were very courteous and food was great too.
Trading on the vegetarian/no alcohol label they have forgotten about the basics of a good hotel. There is only an expensive buffet for dinner. The food was overcooked, gloopy and lacked spice to the point of being bland. Walls between chalets were thin.
I can understand this hotel has good reviews as location is great but the drawback is the staff. We went there for check in and the reception woman asked is we have any reservation. I replied yes, she said immediately NO in an unhappy voice and going back to do something without asking our name. After I saw one man playing with the computer and ask him at least to check our reservation, he said NO and went back to his computer, so no-one cared about us and we had to leave. So even if the environment is good the staff of this hotel is so unfriendly and so impolite that I recommend to find another place. Do not waste your money with this kind of people.
Nice ambience, free breakfast with varieties The rooms had a moldy misty smell because of excessive dampness due to recent rains that was unpleasant
our stay was not too long ..but it was absolutely awesome
Sparsa Resorts right across the temple complex is literally an oasis in the midst of a very busy pilgrimage city. Surrounded by lush green vegetation, well tended, each room is spacious and offers a space for meditation. The excellent food is all vegetarian (no alcohol) is perfect to heal the body. A perfect place to wide down after visiting the magnificent temple, Ramasram and other sites.
Is quite and nice place to rest. The have massage and clay making. Friend and helpful staff. Will go back again.
My husband and I have been coming here for the last 5 years . This last visit we were disappointed with the room, cleanliness, bathroom got flooded. Reception staff not as welcoming as the previous years. Restaurant service only buffet though a courteous waiter accommodated us for a light tiffin for dinner.
Great place to stay! Will love to come back.
Room and bathroom was clean. Dining room AC was good. Food was too spicy, hard to eat for someone who is not used to spicy food.
A very nice place for a calm and serene outing. The staff, from cleaners to receptionist are very courteous. Food was good. Ambience created through some soft flute music throughout the property was meditative. Just one small issue in the room - the moisture from the AC in ground floor was seeping through their ceiling into the floor of 1st floor. This needs to be addressed immediately because people can slip and fall. Otherwise we had an excellent stay in this property.,
From check-in through check-out, our experience at Sparsa was excellent. Our rooms were ver comfortable, the staff friendly and prompt, and the food was good.
Good
We booked two rooms at Sparsa Tiruvannamalai for 1N stay. We enjoyed our stay and had fun with sparsa suprise activites. Tea Kadai is amazing offer from the resort to provide free tea and savories for the guest. For me the morning yoga session from 6.30 to 7 is a beautiful experience in the calming surroundings in this resort. On-site restaurant price is descent. Complimentary breakfast had nice options. Over all we loved the amenities, ambience. I would definitely recommend this resort.
Please Maitain your previously good standard
The property, the service, the food, the ambience, the spa, the rooms and furniture - everything is excellent. Felt safe as a solo female traveler. Only tip to take things up a notch - please do pest control inside of guestrooms regularly - I had 2 lizards inside my room.
Have been visiting this beautiful resort for ages. This time with friends.Although the grounds and upkeep of this beautiful eco resort remain the same there are alarming visible changes .The manager Mr.Laxmi Narayanan would be always be hovering the premises..making sure every detail was shipshape. Missed his keen eye this time. Many in my group were distressed by discourtesy at reception and the untidiness of their rooms. I came away with the impression that Sparsa is extremely busy with its turnover of guests. Thus popularity has ousted what this lovely calm resort stood for all these years.Yes it will soon become just another hotel ,its charming identity lost forever. Wouldn't it be worth your while to train your staff inline with hospitality .. Management? Suntan
Wonderful property
Before I speak of a most comfortable and classy eco friendly abode ,The Sparsa Resort in the holy city of Thiruvannamalai ,a wandering seeker or just a traveller can choose as a best option to stay in perfect 3 star comfort in this city of Thiruvannamalai in south of India ,I must first speak about why any one must choose to visit this holy town 106 kms from the erstwhile French town of Pondicherry and about 200 kms and a cool 4 hours drive from Chennai in Tamil Nadu to in the midst of The holy Arunachala Hill and the Annamalaiyar Temple and host of Spiritual ashrams . Firstly the Arunachala Hill,in Thiruvannamalai is considered by many to be one of the most sacred mountains in India. Arunachala hill is shrouded in legends a many and is revered by most saints and is said to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva himself . It is believed that Mount Arunachala holds immense spiritual energy as Shiva or Mahadeva who is said to have appeared as a pillar of fire on the hill of Arunachala that has led to many a mythological tales and divine manifestations over the centuries . Thiruvannamalai is also home to the renowned Annamalaiyar temple and is famous for Girivalam and it's poignant festival of Karthigai Deepam festival, that attract many million people from all over the world . Though the Arunachala hill itself is considered as Lord Mahadeva himself in the form of Fire ,one of five elements in nature , The Agni Lingam in the temple is said to symbolize self-sacrifice, liberation, duty, and virtue. Arunachala is accepted as a fully realized Master of Masters, with all the active chakras, and none of the human limitations and is therefore and has always attracted human and divine Yogis ,with a powerful magnetic forces from ancient times. Legend has it that, Thiruvannamalai is the holy place where Lord Shiva turned himself into a huge column of fire to eliminate the ego and Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma requested him through their own penance to transform himself into a less raging form for the benefit of humankind. So those convinced and wish to travel to this holy place, look no where than Sparsa resort in Thiruvannamalai that in my view is presently the best place to check in and start your spiritual journey from here as it's not very far from any place of interest in this holy town . Ofcourse it's possible to seek by advance planning through e mails ,in any of the famous Ashrams that abound here as well for a more simpler style of stay . But for a most comfortable air-conditioned ,well fitted out clean and hygienic rooms with modern toilets . that too are aesthetically designed in eco friendly environment among green gardens . They surely do conform to international 3 star standards if not higher in all aspects of hospitality management . This resort over it's one and half decades have established itself for good hospitality ,great food with both national and international cuisines, churned out by expert culinary team, under the able guidance of expert Chef.Mr Mathivavanan , who has had fantastic stints in most difficult war torn countries like Somalia & Afghanistan ,serving the defence personnel posted there by UN . This eco friendly resort ably managed from inception by its GM Mr.Laxminarayan is a little away comfortably from the din ,dust and noice of the city among the verdant green fields . One can sit quietly and meditate in peace from the the cool confines Of their room looking at the Arunachala hills through the large window . At leisure one can enjoy a swim in their large pool or take in a spa for indulging in a rejuvenating massage under able and experienced By Mr Manoj. Their Handicraft store , Chai or coffee stalls open in the morning and evening , display of the art of making Clay artifacts by Mr Ezhumalai , Parrot Card reading ,cart rides etc compliments the other essential facilities in this star hotel ,where one will find the entire staff very courteous and hospitable. If their courteous service doesn't lift your spirits in conformity to the energy of the Arunuchala hill ,the aesthetics of well designed cottages ,amidst verdant green garden will surely will. The rates charged are very reasonable for the quality of services and facilities to star rating they conform to . My dear Friends, this one post of mine , is not about travelling about in the world, but, about beginning your travel inward ,to realise who you are and where goeth thou, starting your journey notably from Shri Ramanashram founded by world famous great Saint Ramana Bhagawan and who introduced to the western world by spiritual writer Mr .Paul Brunton ,a British author aka Raphael Hurst through his book "A search in secret India "after meeting the Bhagawan in his Ashram here ,during his time ,which was translated in over 20 languages world wide . So friends pack your bags light and travel to this holy town for a life time experience for sure preferably during the period between November to February being the cooler and better period to do so !
It's wonderful to have such a lovely place to stay in this location. Easily the best choice. Great location. The most courteous staff I have encountered. Mr . Suresh in the restaurant catered to all our culinary needs. Delicious food. Relaxing stay . Never felt more special.
I stayed one night on 12th April 24. Resort ambience is good Nice and quiet area. One small request that front desk staff should be more friendly. They took too much time to check in I can't see any welcoming smile. Ned to be more friendly and smiling face in reception. Overall good palce to stay with families
The rooms are simply made, but very beautiful and tasteful, countryhouse style...equippt with everything you might need, excellent bathroom, fride, good AC.... April is a little too hot to visit in general.... The kitchen is VERY good, pure veg, everything is freshly made and it takes some time to receive you food. Everyone is very friendly THANK YOU
If you are looking for a lovely eco-friendly accommodation in Tiruvannamalai, South India then Sparsa Resort will not disappoint! It has beautiful and serene atmosphere. The villas are basic but authentic. They have lovely flute music playing on speakers around the grounds. Inside, the villas could do with some upgrade and maintenance as some things are dated and some in need of repair. However the outside makes up for the limitations inside. They do have a restaurant which serves nice food but the service wasn't that great. There is a lovely clean swimming pool as well.
Our stay at Sparsa hotel, we enveloped in a atmosphere of serene bliss that surpassed all Our expectations for a peaceful getaway. From the moment we arrived, warmth of genuine smiles and the impeccable service from the staff created a welcoming feel. The spaces in the hotel compound is a haven of tranquility, encouraging relaxation and self-reflection, well landscaped grounds, and clearly it’s a destination that offers a retreat for the soul.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, clean and tidy. I came here because a friend recommended the place, not disappointed. Was ideal for a pilgrimage, with vegetarian food served in excellent surroundings. My only request would be for brighter lighting in the dining hall.
It is a calm environment to stay for a few days. Staff were approachable and smiley at all times. Food was average in terms of taste and the road leading to the accommodation was bumpy and it is a pity the resort has not taken any initiative to restore the infrastructure of the roads near its location.
Quiet & peaceful.
We had a very peaceful and comfortable stay at Sparsa Thiruvannamalai. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and well arranged. The ambiance was as excellent for anyone who may be visiting Ramanasramam. The food and services were great.
Keep up the standards..
Clean but same food items for breakfast lunch and dinner
Great Eco friendly place
Property - Tranquil property with a swimming pool and garden. The reception is simple. They have a dedicated place for serving complimentary evening tea and doing morning yoga. They offer pottery and flower garland classes along with bullock-cart ride and cow milking. They give a cold coconut water drink on check-in along with a garland. Room - is spacious with antique furniture, comfortable bed, and spacious bathroom. The shampoo and conditioner are provided in an eco-friendly container. The rooms upstairs have a better view so request for it before you check-in as the staff doesn't accommodate request to change rooms once you check-in which is frustrating. Dining - the breakfast is included. The spread is delicious with unique items like banana flower juice. The dining room has beautiful Tanjore paintings. The staff is attentive and courteous. However, the dining room doesn't serve a la carte for dinner. The dinner buffet is predominantly continental and north Indian which is a disappointment if you were hoping to try South Indian cuisine. Location - the resort is close to the temple and ashram. You can stop by the hotel during grivalam as the hotel is on the path of the grivalam.
Very friendly staffs.
This resort hotel is cozy and very beautiful. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are nice and clean with all amenities. However we had an issue with one of the rooms which was smelling like it has been smoked . Hotel staff sprayed some perfume to make it better. They also said none of their rooms are smoking rooms. I don’t understand how it has been smelling so strong. I request the management to seriously look into why it was smelling in room 110 on 23rd august. Rest all amazing and I recommend this hotel to anyone going to Arunachalam temple
Clean. Money's worth.
It’s a hidden gem in Tiruvannamalai. Beautiful and tranquil ambience. Absolute delight to stay at the property. Food at onsite restaurant was outstanding! Access to the property was a bit challenging as the roads were severely damaged.
It was an excellent stay. The booking through HOtels.com is pathetic. I never faced a problem when I was in Europe. I started facing issues when I tried booking in India. However the accommodation is quote relaxing and service is best in class.
Very nice place quiet with a great view of the Arunachala mountain.
The staff were very friendly and courteous. Room was clean and the gardens were well kept. Food was great and the food suggestions were great. The bed was not comfortable. The mattress was hard but not firm and was saggy which was not conducive to a good night’s sleep. It was raining when we went and they did not have trollies to being the luggage’s to the room which resulted in us having muddy wheels and bottoms of suitcases.
Clean, serene, great location, excellent food and staff
I have travelled all over the world and this ranks alongside the best hotels I stayed in. The customer service is top notch on par or better than the most expensive hotels out in the world. The cleanliness and amenities are great. Breakfast is cooked with passion, tasty and healthy. The manager and the front desk staff aimed to please all the time. The room service staff were very responsive and would always insist on carrying our bags. Newspapers delivered to each room every morning. The gate staff washed my car for no charge. The chief cook personally visited each table to chat and enquire about the food. I will have no second thought before opting to stay here again. Be sure to tip generously if you do stay there.
This place was amazing! Grounds were beautiful, loved the resident peacocks and group of monkeys. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Loved the rooms, full of charm. Was nice to have the fridge in the room to keep our water cold in the hot weather. Pool was refreshing in the mornings, but otherwise was just too hot! AC worked great.
It was a nice and pleasant stay. The atmosphere is Serene and peaceful. If you accept basic facilities and quite stay this the place. The pool area was very good. Food even though vegetarian was good. Service was excellent.
Charming property with clean facilities. Close enough to the temple and ashram.
An oasis in the country side near Thiruvannamalai. I’ve been in India for 5 weeks and as anyone traveling here knows, the cities are noisy with lots of honking cars 24/7. Here it is quiet, peaceful, dark, and comfortable. It was a well needed break from the busy cities for a few nights before continuing on. The restaurant and staff are very accommodating. Great wellness spa offerings. Unique daily free activity for guests. Seems like a lovely place to bring small children or have a weekend away.
Lovely quiet hotel in rural location. Excellent comfortable room, helpful staff. Restaurant a little uninspiring. Good location to explore Tiruvannamalai. Lovely pool, not much yoga!
Excellent service, good room, clean, great food and garden.
Excellent staff, location, ambiance, comfort of room.
very nice place and helpful staff. Enjoyed the stay.
Would be good if it was a 24 hrs check out like how it used to be before.
the place sparsha is unique out of all i experienced till today. i am thankfull to hotel management for recruiting such a nice staff.
Loved the grounds, the pool, the environment. Good food at the restaurant, comfortable, nice rooms. I appreciated the tasteful decorating and overall feel of the property. Lots of great complimentary activities including pottery and I enjoyed the afternoon chai. My only reservation was the spa which seemed expensive for the level of service.
We enjoyed the resort's peaceful atmosphere and my wife had the best massage ever. Highly recommended.
It was a wonderful setting and the swimming pool was fab! A great getaway from our travel in India. The beds were a bit hard and the toilet seat kept slamming shut when one stood...in the middle of the nite not great for the roommate
Quite and nice place for relaxed stay in this temple town. Very friendly staff.Well organised. You need a car since it is away from town.
Overall nice experience. A pleasant stay. Staffs are curteous
We stayed here as a family while visiting Ramanashram. We loved this place - simple and nicely decorated.
It was a surprise and pleasant experience. Didn't expect this kind. Wakeup with birds sound, good food, path to walk, nice S Pool, garden is excellent to JUST SIT. enjoyed 100%
The stay was v comfortable. All the amenities of home!
Nice homely hotel. Attentive and courteous staff. Rooms simple yet very practical - environment friendly. Overall a pleasant stay
I thought this was a wonderful resort in a place like Tiruvannamalai. It is about 6km from the main town. So, having a car at one's disposal is recommended. Promoting green and eco friendly atmosphere, everything in the room and the resort adhered to this basic principle. Very well done rooms, great shower, bathroom. The resort has several things to do. You can have a bullock cart ride, pottery experience, cow milking and other experiences. We did the Pottery part and we really liked it. Did not have time for the rest of the stuff. There is lot of greenery around. If there was one thing that would need improvement, it would be the restaurant and the service there. The food was ok. We tried the breakfast buffet , Ala carte lunch and the Dinner buffet. I think the buffet and service left a lot to be desired. On the Ala carte, I would recommend to stick to South Indian food if you can. The choice of menu on the buffet can be better. I would think many foreigners and NRIs who mostly stay here may not be satisfied with menu choice in the buffet. Also the items were not refilled in the buffet regularly and I had to ask several times. If there was one area that needs improvement, I would think it would be the food/service in the restaurant. Otherwise, front desk was good. We were welcomed with a drink and staff was courteous. Swimming pool seemed to be well maintained. Very beautiful and scenic resort. Great job in a place like Thiruvannamalalai.
I had a wonderful stay at Sparsa. The staff was very cordial and efficient and i got a room with a wonderful view of Arunchala. Thought the Dinner (buffet) was a tad little expensive, would be a good idea to ask them for rates ahead of time. The rooms were clean, simple and very tastefully furnished. I had read earlier reviews before my visit that the staff was very loud and that the swimming pool was rented out to external guests making it very crowded. However, i found the premises very quiet and the pool was being sparsely used. Look's like these issues have been addressed. There were no extra charges for broadband connectivity in the room. Sparsa is a little away from town and Ramanashram, it takes approximately 1 hour (5 Kms) of walking from the Hotel. I walked back from the Ashram at about 8 pm on one occassion, i would advice against it as the roads are NOT lit and the walk happens in total darkness. There are no proper sidewalks and precipitous ditches abound!; please plan to have a torch handy in case the prospects of a walk still excites you. Good Luck!!
We certainly enjoyed staying in the clean hotel. I would not rave about the food, though...
This place is absolutely wonderful! The location is amazing, in between rice fields with a great view of the mountain and very close to the nicest part of the pradikshana road, and a quick rickshaw drive away from Ramana ashram. The food is very good and varied. The activities are numerous and fun. The pool is a real gem, super clean and enjoyable. That is where you can meet some wonderful people while enjoying the beautiful Indian sun. The rooms are comfy. It is beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The staff is very friendly and quite attentive to your needs. A special note about the general manager; he is quite exceptional, working so very hard, yet always with a smile on his face and always making sure that you are enjoying yourself, and stopping for a heartfelt moment to find out how your day is going. It seems to me that the quality of Sparsa resort has a lot to do with him and the way he runs the place. Please do not hesitate one second to book here!!!
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. The ambience was good, people very friendly, food is good. The room was slightly small to accomondate our family of 3 adults and a child. Would love to visit this place again.
