An authentic and wonderful stay in Salé We had a fantastic stay at The Repose and can honestly highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Moroccan experience. The staff were absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. A special mention to Soukayna, who speaks excellent English and was always so friendly and helpful. Yassine and Fatima were also incredibly attentive and made us feel very welcome. The riad itself is beautifully decorated in a traditional Moroccan “beldi” style. If you are looking for authenticity rather than a modern, generic hotel experience, this is definitely the place for you. Everything was also spotless and very well maintained. One thing we particularly appreciated was the service in the evening. The staff stayed awake and waited until we had safely arrived inside the riad, which made us feel very comfortable, especially when arriving later at night. The breakfast was delicious, and the terrace is absolutely beautiful — a lovely place to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The location is also excellent. The riad is right at the beginning of the medina and not far from the main street, which makes it very easy to get in and out of the medina without having to walk through a maze of narrow streets. This was a big plus for us. Overall, The Repose offers the perfect combination of authenticity, cleanliness, hospitality, comfort, and a great location. The warmth and kindness of the staff really make the experience special. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Salé. Highly recommended!

Staff are probably the nicest team you will meet in Morocco! I have travelled all around the south and north of Morocco and stayed in lots of high end hotels to very tradition Riads, and this is an absolutely a combination of the best.

Just a little difficult to find, the direction signs are there but not immediately obvious as expected the streets are traditionally narrow . Car parking is at the top of the very narrow street against the wall. It’s about $5 to park for 24hours paid to the car park attendant who is there keeping an eye on things 24/7. Use google to get an idea of this prior so you don’t get stuck down a side street.

Un lieu extrêmement beau 🤩 ancien avec tout son cachet après la rénovation. Le très agréable accueil avec les gâteaux et boissons à l’arrivée . La douceur et gentillesse de la personne à la réception.

Établissement typique et âgé de 300 ans entièrement rénové. La gentillesse du personnel La tortue sur la terasse L’emplacement pour la médina pas trop éloignée du parking. En quelques minutes vous y êtes . Chambre très soignée et chacunes leurs particularités.

Pour moi les chambres peu illuminées avec des fenêtres sont un peu étouffante pour moi. Je suis un peu claustrophobe. Mais le lieu est tellement magique et envoûtant que j’a oublié ma peur.

Adoramos tudo! Para nós a localização era maravilhosa, mesmo no centro de um "bairro" onde podemos vivenciar de perto o dia a dia da população. O riad é muito bonito, bem decorado, limpo, facilidade nos meios de pagamento. O Sr. Jan extremamente prestável antes de chegarmos, preocupado a mandar mensagens a confirmar se tínhamos algum pedido especial e tendo em consideração a n/ hora de chegada questionou se queríamos que providenciassem um jantar, mesmo fora do horário da refeição. Tivemos maior contacto com a Soukayna, extremamente educada e muito preocupada com o n/ bem estar, e sempre pronta a ajudar!

We kregen een upgrading wat zeer aardig was en een mooie riante kamer. We hebben er ook gegeten, het menu is vegetarisch en verassend. Het personeel was zeer aardig en sprak Engels. Ze proberen het zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken voor je.

Weinig, alleen de airco was niet erg koud.

Purtroppo la strada su cui si trova il Riad nelle notti della nostra permanenza è risultata molto rumorosa ed il sonno ne ha risentito...

Unfortunately i couldn't appreciate anything

The room was moldy, and i couldn't sleep because of the unhealthy environment caused me lack of breathing, for that reason i left the riad early morning , the bed was like a stone, and the shower drain was clogged, the price of the room is too high for the position of the riad.

Les chambres à thème décorées avec beaucoup de goût, l'accueil par Jan (la fille de Jan et Rachid) et du staff, extrêmement attentionné et sympathique. Le rooftop, le lieu au coeur d'une médina authentique. Le calme.

Notre chambre au 2e était un peu sombre et humide lorsque nous fermions les fenêtres la nuit. Cependant durant la journée, avec tout ouvert, la circulation d'air se faisait bien.

It was a lovely traditional style riad with wonderful staff. You were made to feel very welcomed and everyone was eager to help if you had any questions. It was great to get a paper map and suggested places to go in the area. Very nice breakfast

La gentillesse et la disponibilité du personnel surplace. (Merci à Soukayna et Fatima) Le petit déjeuner, délicieux et complet. La propreté. Salé, quartier pauvre, mais vraiment on se sent en sécurité, les gens sont très sympathiques.

Jamais rencontré le responsable, juste échange par whatsapp. Aucun conseil (restauration, visite) le palais royal ne se visite qu'avec un guide par exemple. Nous aurions aimé avoir des conseils surtout pour les restaurants, la cuisine marocaine peut-être tellement délicieuse! Pas de parking, prévoir 20 dirhams par nuit pour les gardiens. (c'est courant et sécurisé, mais encore faut-il le savoir) Une semaine à Rabat trop long (nous avons pris une nuit à Fès, attention éviter la médina de Fès le vendredi, jour de prière, tout est fermé)

Riad certainement très bien mais que nous n'avons pas utilisé car trop difficile d'accès dans la médina avec nos motos chargées.

L’accueil

Staff, colazione, cena: tutto semplicemente eccellente!

Location was fine! Nice attention to leading us to the place via WhatsApp (locations for both The Repose and car park).

We got the Arabic Suite without any window to open! It was a bit run-down, extremely musty and my wife got a severe bout of allergy because of it! Very little sleep! As a result we decided to skip the booked second night and moved completely out! We turned an alternative suite or the marginal refund of the second breakfast / tax down and just ran …. happy to leave the place behind!

Een geweldige ambiance met zeer aardig en attent personeel. Geweldig diner en zeer attente eigenaar die taxi’s voor ons regelde toen we vroeg naar het vliegveld moesten. Ook een aanrader om Rabat te bezoeken.

Der Empfang ist sehr herzlich - und während man Tee, Obst und Gebäck genießt wandern die Koffer wie von Uauberhand bereits aufs Zimmer. Die Suite Chefchaouen ist ein Traum in blau. Sehr geschmackvoll und - für marokkanische Verhältnisse - großzügig. Das angebotene vegetarische Dinner ist sehr zu empfehlen. Die gute Seele des Hauses ist Soukayna, kümmert sich liebevoll um alles und hat immer ein Lächeln im Gesicht. Sie ist Empfangsdame, Concierge, Rezeptionistin, Restaurantleiterin, Manager on Duty und Good-Vibration-Manager in Personalunion. Das Haus ist sehr zu empfehlen.

Die Suite Chefchaouen hat den großen Vorteil von Fenstern im Livingroom und im Badezimmer. Für Riads eher eine Seltenheit, sind sie doch meist in den dichtbebauten Medinas, wo die Häuser Wand an Wand gebaut sind. Hierdurch kann es allerdings etwas laut sein - je nach dem wie hoch das Mitteilungsbedürfnis der Nachbarn ist.

La sala d’ingresso utilizzata anche come stanza per colazione. Congestionata dagli oggetti, ma comunque carina è abbastanza pulita.

Sicuramente molto da migliorare! a partire dalla pulizia delle camere. Le scale di accesso per alcune persone potrebbero essere un problema da superare hanno alzate e pedate diverse di gradino in gradino. La colazione. Minimal. Scarsa sia in qualità che quantità .

Nada, solo sentí largo el proceso de check in pero son tan atentos y cariñosos que ni lo pondría.

Lo que nos gustó es el desayuno y la atención del personal que son muy buenas chicas, más allá del idioma. Fueron muy serviciales y que la ultima noche nos hayan mandado un mensaje si estábamos bien porque ya eran más de las 12hs de la noche.

A ver el tema calidad-precio no corresponde a donde está ubicado ya que la accesibilidad no es buena, después las habitaciones no fueron tan de nuestro agrado por el hecho que en unas de ellas el baño la pila se quedaba atascada el agua y había que esperar el inodoro se movía, nos nos cambiaron las toallas y no hubo un recibimiento con té marroquí, cosa que hacen todos los Riad que ya he estado. Y aparte que eso sí considero lo peor es que cuando quise pagar, me querían cobrar 463€, muchos más de lo que había contratado por Booking, ya que tenía que pagar 314€ ya incluidos los 3,50€ de tasas x persona y me habían enviado un taxi para recogernos en la estación de tren de Rabat y me había dicho que eran 150Dh( que son unos 14€) y me quiso 320Dh más por las tasas , cosas que ya estaban incluidas en los 314€, y la cena que yo no había aceptado todavía y ya cuando hubo un poco de tensión con la persona que todo eso fue por teléfono con otra persona y nos decía que ellos al cambio y no se que historias. Al final de todo pagamos 3663DH ( que son 357€ ) lo que nos pasó en la tarjeta de revolut. Jamás me había pasado esto en ningún Riad que ido y ya es la séptima vez que viajamos a Marruecos. Espero que estos detalles por ser turista no pasen más con quién vaya a este Riad. Nosotros por lo pronto no volveremos más este lugar.

Siamo rimasti davvero sorpresi dall'accoglienza fino al termine del soggiorno persone così gentili ospitali da farti sentire a casa pur rispettando la loro cultura ti immergono in un'esperienza davvero unica. Il personale ci ha accolti con un the caffè break di benvenuto e dopo il check-in le camere erano davvero qualcosa di unico. La cena buonissima e varietà di menù rispettano ogni intolleranza e sono attentissimi. Offrono varietá di esperienze extra tutte da provare. Il proprietario del Riad persona attenta e presente ci ha guidati fino al checkout affinché tutto andasse per il meglio. Persone davvero speciali! Grazie di tutto

Der Service war unglaublich zuvorkommend und herzlich. Als ich mir außerhalb des Hotels eine Essensvergiftung zugezogen hatte, wurde sogar eigens für mich leichte Kost gekocht und mir aufs Zimmer gebracht.

The Riyad is very beautiful, typical, with a nice terrasse to chill. Vegetarian typical breakfast & dinner can be served in the Riyad chaging every day. Room was spacious enough and very clean. A lot of stairs but our luggage could be taken upstairs by the staff. Staff provided a high quality of service and is english speaker. Less than 10min walking to Salé sea side, less than 15 min to the marina and boats that will bring you to Rabat (Oudayas' side) for cheap. 5min walk from Salé points of interest. Massage in the bedroom was very relaxing.

We need to walk a little bit in the streets between taxi and Riyad but this is very short walk and our taxi driver gently took our suitcase all along.

Schönes liebevoll eingerichtetes Riad,in mitten der Medina von Rabat-Salé. Ruhiges Quartier. Parkplatz in der Nähe des Riads. Sehr nettes,fleissiges Personal! Das Essen war sehr lecker. Rabat ist gut zu erreichen mit dem Tram oder mit dem Boot über den Fluss.

L'accueil est globalement correct.

Lit peu confortables, pas de TV dans la chambre, boycott de produits américains due au conflit en Iran comme le coca cola alors même que le Ryad se nomme "The Repose" et la non vente de vin ou bière avec alcool alors que beaucoup de Ryad au Maroc non ont proposé de l'alcool sans problème. On pouvait apporter nos propres bouteilles, encore fallait il qu'on nous ne précise avant. Repas qualitatif mais unique sans choix possible et cher pour la quantité servie (25€ par personne sans boissons attractives). Service qualitatif mais 1 seule serveuse parlant l'anglais et un peu le français, l'autre ne parle que marocain.

Le tarif payé sur Booking par rapport au tarif de l'hôtel en direct. Les tarifs des prestations proposés par l'hôtel sont trop chers par rapport aux tarifs normalement par les prestataires de type taxi, massage...

Een klein stukje lopen de Medine van Salé in achter een mooie grote deur liepen we een sprookje binnen. We werden zo lief ontvangen door Jan, we kregen Marokkaanse thee met heerlijke lekkernijen, nooit eerder zo'n leuk welkom gehad. Toen we onze kamer binnen kwamen was ons sprookje compleet. Hoe bedenk je het allemaal, erg mooi! De bedden zijn heerlijk, vaak zijn de bedden te hard in Marokko. Het ontbijt op het dak terras en het diner was geweldig! 2 Avonden heerlijk gegeten voor weinig. De Riad ligt op een perfecte plek, het is maar een klein stukje lopen naar de uitmonding van de zee, daar neem je een taxi vissers bootje naar het centrum van Rabat. Vanaf de Riad sta je binnen 15 min sta je in de Medina van Rabat. Kon niet beter! Soms vind je juweeltjes in Marokko, deze was er zeker één!

Stellenweise war in unserem Zimmer zu sehen, dass die Unterkunft ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen ist.

Dinner was the best meal I had in Morocco! The team was fantastic and I really appreciated Jan's tips and recommendations. The room decor is lovely and I had no trouble navigating the Medina with maps.me.

The Chefchouen room faces the street and I heard motorcycles and street noise until 11:30/midnight when I put in my earplugs and turned out the light. On my return I stayed in the Assiliah room which was quieter, though one floor up.

Wonderful food, nice and welcoming hosts

This is a fantastic stay. We found our host Jan and Miriam our waitress to be absolutely some of the best. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are as described, clean and comfortable. If possible take advantage of the chance to have a meal. We were surprised and delighted. Highly recommended.

LOVED the incredible vegetarian food, really can't praise it too highly, and the lovely rooftop garden, and the warm welcome from the staff. Wonderful place to stay, highly recommended!

Only negatives (which really weren't a problem) was the poor lighting in the room, and excess furniture making it hard to navigate your way to the bathroom in the dark :)

The staff was lovely and very welcoming. We had the Chefchouen suite which was very large and very climatic. Breakfast was superb.

The Repose is owned by the loviest family who could not do more for us. From the moment we arrived to lots of snacks and tea to the moment we left, they were so kind and helpful. We stayed there twice during our stay and the second time was like coming home. The breakfast was so good and we stayed for a delicious dinner on our last night. The rooms are very quickly an colourful - our favourite was the mango room! Thanks Jan, Imane, Miriem and the rest of the family - you are so special!

Zimmer wirken aufgrund einer Vielzahl von Einrichtungsgegenständen ohne praktischen Nutzen "vollgestellt", keine funktionierende Aufhängung für Duschkopf, Wasser in der Dusche läuft schlecht ab, zu wenig Licht im Bad, Bett knarrt bei jeder Bewegung

Het ontvangst was zo warm! We voelden ons echt welkom. Het bed lag heerlijk. Het was muisstil in de nacht. Het ontbijt was lekker en meer dan voldoende.

Le personnel est aux petits soins avec la clientèle, très professionnel et aimable. Très bonne cuisine. Le riad est magnifiquement décoré, très authentique. La terrasse est très jolie et agréable pour y prendre un excellent et copieux petit déjeuner, dans le calme. Propreté irréprochable. Relativement proche d'un arrêt de tram pour se rendre dans le centre-ville.

Pas de points négatifs, je reviendrai.

I was looking for something traditionally Moroccan and I ticked all the boxes and the bonus was the wonderful staff.

Can be difficult to find when out strolling.

A delight in Sale- across the river from Rabat. Quiet and peaceful accommodations. Yes prayer is over loud speakers in early am- but that is everywhere in Morocco!

I didn’t mind- but there are many sets of stairs to get to your room and to breakfast at rooftop gardens.

Eigentlich reicht die Bewertung 10 nicht aus - The Repose liegt deutlich darüber. Ein absolutes Spitzen-Riad. Jan und ihr Team sind einmalig! Das Haus ist wunderschön und geschmackvoll. Man fühlt sich wie Zuhause. Frühstück und Abendessen (unbedingt mitbuchen) sind ein Genuss. Die Lage in der Medina von Sale ist perfekt - man ist in kurzer Zeit in Rabat, kann aber auch zu den Stränden weiter nördlich fahren. Jan gibt gute Tipps. Parkplatz ein paar Minuten entfernt und man bekommt immer einen Platz. Wer nach Rabat kommt, sollte sich dieses Riad gönnen!!!!

We had a wonderful time at The Repose. The host and staff are so kind, caring and helpful. The property is charming in every way and very comfortable. The vegetarian menu offered for lunch and dinner is creative and absolutely delicious, definitely our favorite meals on the trip. We look forward to our next visit!

The place looks like a real old riad. Breakfast was good and the facilities are acceptable. Dinner which was extra looks like the real Arabic food.

The taxi will drop you off at an alley from the main road and then walk to the riad. If your legs are not athletic anymore you may find it challenging to climb the stairs of the house.

Wir wurden sehr nett mit marrokanischem Minztee und kleinen Leckereien empfangen, wenn man im Riad ist, fühlt man sich wie in einer Oase. Die Zimmer sind scheinbar alle unterschiedlich gestrichen und gestaltet, unser Zimmer war sehr schön. Alles hat seinen individuellen Stil. Auch das Frühstück war sehr lecker. Das Essen am Abend musste man extra bestellen und bezahlen, aber die Absprache war kein Problem. Es war alles vegetarisch, jeder Gang wurde sehr schön angerichtet. Die Bedienung war immer sehr nett und zuvorkommend, äußerst freundlich. Wir können das Riad empfehlen, auch wenn es etwas außerhalb von Rabat liegt. Ein kurzer Spaziergang zum Hafen und man wurde für 10 MAD pro Person mit dem Paddelboot an das andere Ufer gebracht.

Für mich waren die vegetarischen Gerichte kein Problem, es ging wohl aber aus den Informationen nicht so ganz eindeutig hervor, dass es nur vegetarisch gibt. Wenn man dann doch auch gern mal anders isst, wäre eine eindeutige Info sehr schön.

Didn't like the noisy air-conditioning and lack of any bins or water in the room or a fridge. Not particularly clean and everything looked tired and lacked investment

Le manque d’un plan de la ville , les lieux de visites etc .. c’est le Riad où nous sommes allés manger qui me les a procuré ! Le personnel inexistant et ne parlant qu’Arabe et un peu l’anglais. Étant seul dans l’hébergement un sentiment de solitude.

La gentille soukaina a ete tellement adorable d’une douceur incroyable elle as rendu notre séjour tellement paisible nous tenions a la mentionner car le premier aperçu commence directement par le personnel ❤️ Tout était parfait je reviendrais

La habitación azul, muy bonita, completa y su baño con shampoo, acondicionador y gel de ducha pero de buena calidad y eso se agradece para los días después de playa. Desayuno rico y completo. Caminando 10 min se llega a la playa y a 19 min a pie a la estación de trenes.

A pesar de que la habitación azul es para mí la más bonita, es algo ruidosa. Se escuchan las motos que pasan o la gente que habla en la calle pero se duerme bien porque no es un ruido exagerado.

Sehr schönes blaues Zimmer, sehr leckeres vegetarisches Abendmenü (vielleicht etwas teuer im Vergleich zu Essen im Restaurant) auf netter Dachterrasse, absolut super nettes, hilfsbebreites Personal, stabiles, schnelles WLAN, sehr gute Kommunikation und Unterstützung bei der Anreise. Alles top! (ausser vielleicht, dass das Frühstück erst ab 9am startet).

It was in the middle of the old city so it is a little hard to navigate with a vehicle.

When we booked, we did not realize that this would be the highlight of our Morocco Tour … and how famous this place really is! The Repose is a beautiful riad in the Medina with each level having thoughtfully curated spaces to gather, from the rooftop terrace (where breakfast is served), to seating areas at each level and the courtyard (where one can take in dinner or tea), the attention to detail, the subtle Western comforts in a traditional setting, and the incredibly welcoming host all make this the best experience ever! Each room is decorated with a Moroccan Theme, we loved the blue Chefchaouen room with its cozy atmosphere and seating areas. The family offers a multi-course vegetarian dinner bursting with flavor, can arrange a massage in your room, and overall will support you in whatever you’d like to experience or know. The family speaks English, French, Spanish, and Arabic fluently to make communication easy. We will definitely be back!

It's not value for money... Though stuffs are very nice and cooperative and it's old Moroccan style interior , on the roof it has a terrace but those who are looking accomodation for central area with modern style living ,it's not for them.... Very very much over priced...a beach is there with in 1 km but very dirty beach.... Not to expect much ...
