After staying at the beach resort in 2024 and loving it so much we decided to come back but as we couldn't get a room in that property we decided to try the Cliffs and it is just a good as its sister property. As we went off season the Cliffs were liking having a private villa, chef and chauffeur service on a budget as we had the place to ourselves most of the time. The villa we stayed in was spacious with a fairly decent view of the sea (the trees need a trim to get a full view, unlike the other 2 seaview ones which have a full view). We made full use of the restaurant service by having breakfast each day prepared by Jason and the team. My only gripes about the menus including lunch and dinner is the lack of Jamaican food and variety (same menu as last year and for years judging by the photos online). They have such talented chefs it seems like madness not to showcase their talents, the wonderful local fresh produce and to compete with the other restaurants, especially as many are lacklustre. Jason was a pleasure and ensured all elements of our breakfast were cooked to perfection. The customer service at the Cliffs was exceptional from Nicholas, Sandra and Fabian to name but a few. This is indicative of the fantastic customer service you get from Idleawhile and it was so touching to be recognised by staff from our visit in 2024. We arrived very late at night and the security guard was there to greet us as shown us to our room. Our every need was taken care of from towels for the pool and beach, booking excursions for us (Bryan Cummings is great driver and the boat trip through Jason Stennett was fantastic) and taking us to and from the Cliffs to the Beaches (please note the shuttle needs to be booked (including at the Beaches) and leaves at the Cliffs 10.30am and returns from the Beaches at 16h. The pool is great for relaxing and is in the sun all day. As we went in rainy season the sea was not suitable for diving into as the waves were strong and high. However the soothing sound of the sea helped you drift off to sleep. I would recommend the Cliffs to families and people who are not very organised on holiday. What staying there did is force us to get into a routine as we had to be ready for the shuttle or get up for breakfast before a trip. It also gave us great flexibility by being able to choose to go between the two properties as they presented two very types of holiday vibe. Going to the Beaches was lovely for the swimming, water sports and sunbathing whereas the Cliffs is for relaxing, calmness and chilling. I think this is gen of a place and rate it highly.
We adored this “rustic” property with its early morning birdsong, simple clean (very clean!) rooms and lovely pool overlooking the ocean. Delicious breakfast poolside or on our terrace. Courteous and kind staff. Highly recommend!
Solo stay @Idleawhile cliffs property was scary and alarming experience to say the least. This property is beautiful and stunning and happens to have two of the best staff, Sandria and Robert. Both are amazing, I’m thankful for your kindness and care during my stays. The GM is deeply concerning. My stay in rm 5, (I’ve stayed many times prior) I received a serious electric shock while cooking on the stove. The current grabbed my hand and went up my arm and into my mouth. I had to turn off the electric current with my other hand. I tried to call the front desk, the phone was dead. I found Robert the groundskeeper and he notified maintenance and the GM. GM Xavian reached out the next day via non corporate correspondence WhatsApp/phone our conversation went from professional to very unprofessional in minutes with him screaming at me and asking me “what do I expect!” As far as compensation and then turned to him calling/texting via WhatsApp as to not have this officially documented, then offering to comp a night and then two, just to rescind the offer the next day if I don’t meet him face to face. All the while he assured me that the stove was fixed and I went to use the stove again and I was electrocuted again! I was livid and in pain. He stated he would withhold compensation unless I met with him in person. I no longer felt comfortable with him I left the property early and went to a new one. I reported this to hotels.com asap and they have been amazing in their resolve.
A gem of a hotel tucked away on Negril’s west end! The bungalow was lovely, with sunset views from both upstairs and downstairs— and had every thing we could ask for—comfy bed, great AC, indoor and outdoor showers, work desk/space and well-appointed kitchen. The staff is amazingly helpful and truly go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Friendly staff, excellent customer service. Enjoyed the ambience and accommodations. Clean and pleasant.
Very rustic and secluded loved the feeling of been surrounded by nature, had a peaceful stay. Great staff. Hopeton from the bar very friendly and gives excellent service.
We stayed here for 4 nights in an ocean front villa (3 of the nights were in room 3 and 1 night was in room 2). The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and secluded. It's so quiet that really feels like you are staying at someone's home rather than a hotel. So, if you're looking to relax, this is an ideal place for you. The freshwater pool is lovely and, if the sea is clam, you can take the ladder down the cliff and swim, which we did. Because the hotel is at the far end of the west end road, there is not much to walk to but Uber is in Negril now, so you can take one (or a more expensive taxi) to eat/swim/explore one of the other locations on the cliffs or the beach. The rooms were very clean and well-appointed with very comfortable beds. The outdoor and the indoor showers were both fantastic. The villas had the most amazing views of the sea and it was great just to hang out and read on the upper balcony in the hammock. There is a small bar/restaurant on-site and everything we had there was great. Everyone on staff is absolutely wonderful - they're the best. The only tips I can provide are to plan accordingly if you want to have dinner at/from the on-site restaurant or take the free van to the beach location. We were not good at planning ahead and did not always tell the front desk that we wanted to go to the beach the following day and so missed the van once as it left earlier than the 10:30 am pick up time. On the days the van came late, this was not a problem. And we tried ordering dinner at 6:30 pm but the restaurant had closed 30 mins early. These missteps were our fault since it's a very small hotel, it makes sense that they don't maintain extra staff on-site if they don't think they'll be needed - just remember to communicate with the staff earlier than we did! It's an amazing place and I highly recommended it.
The staff were friendly, and the food and drinks were excellent. View is amazing. Windows do not have glass or screens so you can hear everything from outside all night and bugs get in your room. Shutters don’t close to keep the heat humid air out. The air conditioner is right above the bed so condensation drips on you, you pillows, or the bed all the time. Pool is tiny, and the ladder for ocean access is broken and unusable. They didn’t have ANY fruit for two days along with other menus items. (I’m not talking about the seasonal items, like regular menu items) Chunks of the pool floor were breaking off and I stepped on them so I put all the pieces poolside and told the staff. The pieces stayed there three days. 3 umbrellas, only 1 stand for the umbrellas. Toilets wobbled when you sit down. Exposed wires all around the walking paths where lights should be. A little maintenance in the off season could go a long way here. I will NOT return here.
Extremely beautiful
Love
We visited for the day, as guests of the sister resort on the beach. The property is secluded and somewhat rustic. Day guests have access to the pool, which is small but appropriate for the number of guests, a full bar, a small outdoor dining patio, and a small but clean bathroom. You can get down to the sea with an 8 foot jump (or climb down the ladder) or just enjoy the pool. The staff were wonderful, and you could not ask for a more tranquil Negril experience. If you’re looking to escape the bustle of the beach, this is your place!
Quiet property with rustic feel. It was away from night noise and traffic. Slept like a baby! Close to other good entertainment spots and easy to reach the beach!
After leaving the sister resort on the beach, we were a little anxious to arrive on the cliffs because some people said there’s not much to it and we would be bored. Quite the contrary, if you’re looking for a quiet and reserved time. There are only a small amount of rooms, but they are wonderfully appointed for an incredible price. The staff is helpful and accommodating and honestly if given the choice, I wouldn’t go back to the beach resort. Next time I come I would just stay here the whole time.I am anticipating shedding a tear when I leave!
Very quiet and less people. Cozy
I count find that hotel nowhere it doesn't even pop up on the gps I arrived HOURS late and the front entrance don't even look like a hotel they tried to keep telling me that the hotel is "right here" instead of being understanding , I wasn't trying to get charged late fee. The front entrance look like a garage nth like the picture. Their communication could be better. And checkout is not wat it says on the app they need to fix that it's wayyyyyy earlier and dogs be barking like crazy and they don't have parking really u just park in from of the tree like create ur own parking
Fantastic and beautiful. High standard of cleanliness, service and a wonderful place. The Staff could not do enough for you. A mention must go to Hopeton, who was amazing and so helpful and friendly. The Cleaning Staff and Monday the Gardner were always attentive and friendly. Amazing food. The Chefs were all excellent. The Restaurant could do with staying open a little later. 7pm is quite early to close, there's not a lot else around there. I understand it is a quiet area, but food orders had to be given at 630pm latest for dinner, which was a bit early for us. 8pm would be good. Reception staff were helpful. The Villas had amazing views and were immaculately kept. We enjoyed our balcony and watching the dolphins in the mornings following the fishing boats. Would definitely return to this Hotel in the future.
We were super late for check in. Someone from the hotel called us in the afternoon to check what time we'd arrive and let us know that the property closes off early so the security would give us our room key. This was super helpful because we were hungry so at that point, we stopped in Montego Bay for a meal. When we had finally arrived, the security guard was welcoming. The room was super clean and comfortable. A very homie room with a big sliding balcony door, a hammock on the balcony, terrazzo tiles, and a natural negril vibe with tree diversity, which we knew meant we'd get to see lots of birds in the morning. Had a comfortable night's sleep and a very tasty breakfast. Fruits were sweet and omelet was perfect! We ate breakfast while watching the sea and saw a pod of dolphins! Then we relaxed on the cool deck for a bit and enjoyed the sea breeze. The only draw back is that we couldn't enter the sea from this property. But you can always go down to the sister property Idle Awhile Beach for your beach day.
Very quiet. Just what we we were looking for.
Fabulous and beautiful. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Villas were amazing. Lovely quiet area, but sometimes some noise nearby (music) and dogs barking in the night. Great pool and bar/restaurant area. But note that it shuts at 7pm and there's not a lot else nearby. Food and drinks were very good.
After coming to Negril for 40+ years, Idle Awhile-Cliffs has truly become our new home away from home. We appreciate that it is a rustic/chic boutique hotel with only seven rooms while providing great amenities including a fresh water pool, fabulous dining/lounge, cliff diving/swimming, and onsite security. The villas have a full kitchen, two full bathrooms, two outdoor sitting terraces, and a king sized bed with incredible ocean views (and wave sounds). With the upstairs bedroom you can crank the AC if you want a cool sleep while leaving the main level patio doors wide open all day with the ceiling fans on. If you want a chill, private & quiet vibe with the option of catching the shuttle to the Idle Awhile-Beach property to walk the seven mile beach and part-take in a little more action, this is the place for you. It's important to note that as the property is past the lighthouse it is a $20/25. US taxi ride to the beach. The staff are great especially Site Manager, Sandria; Chef Nack; Chef Otis; Servers Hopeton, Rashane & Claudia; as well as the housekeeping and grounds keepers. For pet lovers, like us, there is a resident dog, Foxy and an orange cat we named Minew. We have stayed here twice in the last year (March 2023 and Jan 2024) and have booked to return March 2024.
This is probably the 8 th visit. Idle Awhile Cliffs has 7 places to stay. Fred and I had an oceanfront Villa(there are 3 of villas and 4 garden suites). One upstairs master 2 full baths a kitchen!!!and a dining area plus a Queen down —2 oceanfront terraces- one of them with a hammock - incredible views!$200 a night- no lie! Our sister and son had another villa and our friends ( first time to Jamaica 🇯🇲- loved it!) had a garden Room. Clean quiet and sublime. Sandria is the manager and she is first class and always welcomes us home with a warm smile and embrace - (her hand made bags are beautiful btw) Noko the chef is just lovely and talented- his food is delicious and the setting is surreal- our own private paradise- let’s not forget Claudia and Leona who do a great job as servers- Tashia makes sure the rooms are spic and span…the beds and linen are A+. I can’t forget Monday—- he and other takes meticulously care of the grounds. Only complaint I have was the loud and obnoxious music ( not reggae!) 2 properties over that went until 2 am . But who can control that? I love that they don’t have a problem at all with giving you such value- so refreshing and kind….One Love 🇯🇲and Respect
Idle Awhile Cliffs is absolutely breathtaking! If you want the most relaxing experience go to the cliffs! The food is delicious, the employees are lovely, and the rooms are beautiful and clean. Its slow pace makes you relax in a way I never had before. The views are spectacular sunrise and sunset! Thank you Sandria and team!!!
I am writing to express my profound disappointment and concern about the deplorable experience my sister and I endured during our stay at Idle Awhile Cliffs in December 2023. Our decision to select your property for my birthday celebration was based on making reservations for a private beach dinner on the evening of my birthday. Colleen, whom we understood to be the wedding coordinator, assured us that she would personally handle the decoration and coordination of our special evening. However, on the night of my birthday, our plans took a disheartening turn. Upon arriving for dinner, the staff on duty informed us that they did not know of our private dinner reservation. Immediate contact with Colleen revealed a shocking response: "We didn't confirm the reservation." Despite finalizing all communications and paperwork a month before our arrival, Colleen suggested that "we should have reminded her to do her job." This exchange was both unprofessional and unacceptable. Despite the setback, my sister and I decided to make the best of the situation and stay for dinner. Unfortunately, the evening took an even more distressing turn when one of the staff made an offensive and racially insensitive comment, stating, "Negroes don't throw away food." This level of disrespect was not only appalling but deeply hurtful. Subsequent attempts to address the situation with the supervisor, Jermaine, proved futile. Jermaine, who claimed he was at home and unable to assist, promised to call back after consulting with the general manager, Mr. Roach. Unfortunately, no such callback was received, ruining our birthday celebration and our perception of the staff and management at Idle Awhile Cliffs. During our stay, we were dismayed to discover that the security personnel shared insights into the treatment of guests and staff, suggesting that such instances are not isolated. The revelation that staff members are reportedly treated even worse and lack basic provisions such as lunch is deeply concerning. As someone born in Jamaica who later migrated to the United States, it saddens me to witness the mistreatment of guests and staff in an industry that significantly benefits from tourism. I implore you to investigate these matters promptly, take corrective actions, and address the systemic issues affecting both guests and staff at Idle Awhile Cliffs. Furthermore, I wish to express my concern about the lack of communication. It has now been over a week, and regrettably, I have not received any follow-up or communication from anyone at Idle Awhile Cliffs. Timely and transparent communication is crucial in resolving these issues and restoring faith in the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction. Your immediate attention to this matter is crucial, as the reputation of your establishment and the welfare of your guests and staff are at stake. I trust you will take the necessary steps to rectify these issues and prevent similar incidents.
rustic and relaxing
This was our first time ever staying on the cliffs at Idle Awhile - The Cliffs. It was a beautiful property, but what really made our stay spectacular was Hopeton. Hopeton was always so prompt, courteous and made us feel so at home. He kept his work stations immaculate and we really enjoyed his company. He is someone that you can tell really loves his job.
Nacko- the head chef at The Cliffs is an amazing culinary artist. He will make you traditional Jamaica fare that will melt in you mouth. Must have red snapper and curry shrimp and is to die for. He totally is vibe all himself. You don’t want to leave.
Spent 5 days at IdleAwhile Cliffs with family. I’ve stayed at the beach probably but the Cliffs is a very special experience. The staff at both properties are exceptional and took care of our every need! Can’t wait to return!
I'd like to write a great review but our last day there a home 2 doors down the street had music blasting from 10am untill 2 am nonstop. no escape from it and no help from staff or local police. I'm glad we didn't come with more people
This was our combined 4th trip to Negril. This property was recommended from a friend because we wanted to stay in on e spot for 2 weeks. This little gem is perfection. There are not enough words to describe how perfect this location and little boutique hotel turned out to be. We have just returned home yesterday and have booked for next March. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff was amazing. The pool was even enjoyable and we are not pool people. Nothing but excellent ratings for this place. You will not be disappointed!!!
Enjoyed my stay . Negatives : The neighbor was playin loud music Saturday 9 at night till ? The mosquitoes had a feast in my room until I asked them housekeeping staff to “kill any you see!” (They sprayed it). Positives: friendly staff including young lady at the desk at night, dining staff, housekeeping, staff, quiet location ( minus sat night) view , pool, ocean swimming off the rocks. Felt like we had the the whole place to ourselves . Price has been adjusted to fit the market.
Very pleased with our stay at Idle Awhile Cliffs, splitting the days lounging by the pool, jumping off the cliffs and visiting Idle's sister beachfront property, where you are allowed to use all amenities, including Paddle boards, chaises , towels and umbrellas. The staff at the cliffs property sometimes switch off to the beach property so you always seem to have a familiar face at either location. The Cliffs is quiet and serene. The beach more lively but we enjoyed both equally. I recommend an early swim at the pool, then shuttling to the beach for the day and returning to the cliffs for later afternoon cocktails. Special "props" and appreciation to: Hopeton Robinson who was a gentleman always. Also, praise to Leona, Elroy, Nacko (the very gracious and acommodating chef )and Claudia. Our wonderful driver Barris made stops at the supermarket during the shuttle to or from the beach for us anytime we requested, He even stopped en route for us to pick up jerk chicken at one of the countless stands . Housekeeper also did a spectacular job keeping our room fresh! Odaine, our lifeguard and beach manager always greeted us with a smile and great service. Front office managers Sondrina (cliffs) and Anettha and Nicholas and the beach property were very professional and, like all of the staff, very accomodating. To Management and owners, The Issa Family" please recognize the added value that each one of your team contributes to the success of your business. Highly recommend! Chuck "Norris" ;)
We had a wonderful time on our trip to Negril at Idle Awhile the Cliffs; unfortunately, this was in spite of some let-downs by the hotel itself. We booked our transportation through the hotel (and had email confirmation to prove it) but upon arriving at the airport, it became clear they were not aware of our reservation and could not locate a driver for us. They called and called the hotel and no one answered. We waited over 30 minutes for a driver and were never given an apology. Even when we brought it up the next day, we were given excuses and never an apology. Traffic was really bad so we didn't arrive to Idle Awhile the Cliffs until 8pm - still not too late in my mind. Even though their info says the front desk is open until 10pm, when you arrive you find out that they actually close at 7pm. There was no one to welcome us or show us around - we were led to our room without a word of introduction by the security guard. When we asked where we could eat dinner, he told us the hotel restaurant closes at 7pm (this seems so early??) and that it was unsafe to walk anywhere but the place next door. We knew our room would be simple and that's fine - we booked this for the location and weren't planning on spending much time at the hotel. But when we walked in, I was taken aback. The kitchen had shabby, rusty appliances, the TV was apparently too large to mount on the wall, so it rested on our dresser, leaving cords and a large hole in the wall exposed. The bathroom fixtures were the same - a hole in the wall was plugged with toilet paper. Every evening of our stay, someone at the hotel (a security guard?) would park their car near our room, open all the doors and blast music at top volume for over an hour. It was so loud, it felt like it was in our room. This was not the peaceful experience we wanted. Every night around 2 or 3am, some of the wild dogs that roam Negril would bark and howl right outside our room - I don't understand why security wouldn't shoo them off. If you're going to stay here, I believe it's worth it to stay in the Ocean view rooms, away from the roads - you may avoid some of the noise pollution. Despite all this, we loved the location of Idle Awhile The Cliffs - the view is beautiful and the cliffs are peaceful. The ladies who man the bar/ restaurant are very nice (though service isn't what I'd call 'proactive' or quick - but that's true of everywhere in Negril). We had breakfast every morning and lunch one day and all the food was great (and good coffee!) - when the front desk is open, they do a good job of helping you with dinner reservations and arranging taxis. The food can be hit or miss - I recommend Pensing Ten and Rockhouse for the food and atmosphere combo. But there are also lots of amazing hole-in-the-wall places. Shuttle to the beach was great each day - got the best of both worlds. Just wish it ran on time (once we waited over 30 minutes).
Everything I needed to feel rested and restored. I stayed in Villa 1 for 10 nights. Clean, comfortable rooms with ample space to sit and enjoy the views of the sea, to read and daydream. The kitchen had what I needed, but I didn’t actually use it. The restaurant provided all that I desired to eat and the bar anything I imagined to drink. I loved the quiet intimacy of the property; it feels rare and exclusive but without pretense. The option to go to the busier beach property via the free daily shuttle is great because it allowed me to opt-in to the fussiness of tourism and then return to the quiet of the Cliffs. The staff are professional, attentive and genuinely nice people.
Very quiet and peaceful. Great view and location. Great staff. Loved the food.
Absolutely fantastic! The view is (of course) amazing but what sets it apart is the fun, engaged staff that know the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving you space to enjoy the solitude of the moment. Best chef and bartender in Negril!!
Amazing experience. Clean and comfy rooms with exceptional staff. Site's pet helped us not miss our own pets. Take care of little Foxy please.
We just returned from a short stay at Idle Awhile. I'm not going to lie, tears were shed when we had to come home. We love love love home but Idle Awhile - The Cliffs is such a fantastic experience - EVERY TIME. We arrived after 7pm (flight delayed and a few stops along the way - jerk chicken from the drum and a few groceries) and were cheerfully and professionally greeted by Rasheeka. She made check-in a breeze and assigned us Villa 1. The grounds caretaker, Robert quickly brought our bags up and ahhh... Villa 1. Beautiful and rustic with a gorgeous view of the sea. Just a few steps from the poolside bar and dining area. Let the relaxation begin! Villa 1 has everything you need. Kitchenette, a huge king size bed, a spare bed, and our favorite spot: the patio. Our villa was kept spotless throughout our stay. SPOTLESS. Every attention to detail was met. The only thing I missed were mirrors. As a lady, I would love a small makeup mirror with lights and a full length mirror. Having to rely on the hubs: "You look great babe"... isn't helpful LOL. Ladies, pack your make-up mirrors. The staff here are EXCEPTIONAL. They care about your experience and can anticipate your needs. We loved everyone but spent the most time with Carleton, Shane, Hopeton, and Nako. Amazing gentleman. Make sure you call Shane, "Little Needle" - he loves that! We stayed on the properties for breakfast and most of the day. The Blue Mountain coffee with rum cream, poolside is stuff dreams are made off. Breakfast was amazing and catered to our tastes by Nako. I asked for "Jamaican spicy" and he delivered! My favorite was the Reggae Omelette. Carleton, Shane, and Hopeton took such great care of us (Gentlemen: thank you). I learned that I love Fresh Fruit Daiquiris. I had no clue how delicious these are! We hopped the free shuttle to the Idle Awhile - Beach property once during our stay and it was glorious. We’re seasoned Negril travelers, so we know the beach well. It was surprisingly quiet on the beach this time (No "HOT HOT HOT" this time around) but it was still very very beautiful. We stayed on the beach for a long time that day, but we prefer the solitude of the Cliffs. We spent our days at the Cliffs property jumping off the cliff, snorkeling, lounging, listening to music, and getting some relaxation in. I wouldn't change a thing. If you’re looking for a recharge and some privacy, don’t look any further than Idle Awhile – The Cliffs. Although we dearly missed Marley this time around, we loved that Foxy would come spend some time with us (at her leisure). Just such a sweetheart. One thing that makes the stay a bit more enjoyable is to see that their pets are taken good care of. Reminds us of home. Soon come!
The ground staff was very warm and welcoming. Its a nice get away spot
I really enjoyed my stay at Idle Awhile cliffs. It is further west of Negril than I thought but we made it work. Be sure to arrange taxi service especially in the evening or at night as taxis didn't seem to pass by often. - The grounds were kept clean - The rooms can use a slight update. For instance, the patio door didn't have a mesh so we couldn't open them or we would be fighting mosquitos all night. - The staff were kind and accommodating. - The a la cart meals were pretty good. I was happy to get complementary breakfast. I would love it if the menu was expanded to include more authentic Jamaican food options. - The pool was nice a clean.
I spent 6 days at this villa and I gotta say it was amazing the management team and staff was really friendly. The chef they had his name was chekky he cooked some of the best Jamaican authentic food for me and my friends every morning. I had a really good time there. Highly recommend
Great relaxing environment. Enjoyed the hospitality everyone showed. Room and shower was better then expected!
We had a nice stay at this resort. It is a bit out-of-the-way - which suited us fine! - and some of the buildings need a little TLC. But wow, what a peaceful place! we had the place pretty much to ourselves, and the location, pool, views, staff, outdoor restaurant, and fresh tasty food, cooked to order, were absolutely wonderful. We tread water in the ocean, then swam off the brine in the pool, had cocktails with the family at sunset while they cooked up here shrimp salads and fish filets. For a change of pace, we walked ten minutes to Murphy’s for dinner once or twice. If they boosted the WiFi (quite weak in many areas; cellular service not much better), and water pressure upstairs in our villa, they could be charging a whole lot more money. Four stars.
Loved and appreciated the dedicated staff and the ease of communication. The hotel seemed very well managed. Nice, quiet, peaceful cliff location with elevated views of the ocean. The chef was very talented with creative, fresh and healthy Jamaican inspired cuisine. The units were tastefully designed and furnished in a relaxed and chic, island modern style. Shuttle to the beach property was a fantastic addition. IdleAwhile, I will be back! Thanks for making a single female traveler feel like a Queen! Bless!
I’m in Negril on the Cliffs often and I’m so glad I’ve finally stayed here. It’s beautiful and the rooms are big and spacious. The staff is amazing and kind. Very attentive. Free breakfast was a lovely touch. Shane was especially accommodating. Thank you. And a discounted Covid test to return home made me very happy. I love how intimate the property is. My only caveat was the remote had dead batteries in it and we had to keep switching batteries from one remote to another to get the devices to work. Maintenance did come and fix that issue. And the some of the sun shades on the pool deck need to be fixed. Thank you for the comfortable stay. I will return again.
Very great Villa, treated us like we were at home.
When staying on the cliff side of Negril, we always look here first. It is quiet, clean, comfortable, calm. The food is excellent, the service is perfect, the ambience is naturalistic, the sea is deep, the pool is warm.
Beautiful, secluded and very serene!
This is a small hotel quite a ways away from the beach. It has great views of the ocean and lots of trees for a secluded feel. Staff were all very friendly. Cons: Not really a restaurant, there is a grill with a few outdoor tables. No beach access to walk down into water. No glass in the windows, just screens and shutters. Dogs barking and roosters crowing. Bad WiFi.
idle awhile cliffs is an excellent escape from the hustle and an ideal place to truly get off the grid. This is not a place to sit on your phone and scroll Instagram. This is a place to read a book and get pampered by an amazing staff at a rustic modern Island getaway. Pretty darn good I would say if you are looking for peace and quiet.
Wonderful cliff dwelling, great service and fantastic employees. Wifi consistent and robust.
Exclusive villa with ocean view in small property-spectacular!
Beautiful tranquility and relaxation. Small boutique style only 7 units. The complimentary breakfast cooked fresh everyday was amazing. Free shuttle to their Beach Property was great as well. Mosquitoes were an issue though . There are no screens on windows or sliding glass doors.
Peace, quietness, and very laid back. The workers are very professional and kind.
Unfortunately, I just wrote a high-quality lengthy review that Hotels.com website botched and erased it all upon trying to submit it. When uploading my photos, this Hotels.com site said my connection was slow. I have 1 Gigabit upload speed. It is not slow. Shame on Hotels.com for ruining this review and my experience with Hotels.com. NOT Idle Awhile. I liked the resort a lot. Staff was awesome, food was really good, the beds were amazingly comfortable. Phones only dialed other rooms so you couldn't call outside of the resort. Mosquitos were aplenty. A great escape and the daily beach shuttle was a big plus.
Wonderful property with amazing views and fantastic staff. Highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing getaway!
I love the room n the views. The hammock outside was perfect and the complimentary breakfast was delicious.
Beyond, beyond, beyond beautiful. Well-designed, luxurious, and comfortable.
Staff was better than amazing and it was so peaceful. Only complaint was that after 2 days not even a free bottle of water left in the room and only one cup of coffee with breakfast after that you were charged. If you’re looking for pure peace and quiet it’s the place to go
This is a perfectly perched small boutique hotel on the cliffs of the west end of Negril. The two story villas are modern and clean with dramatic views from tiled decks on both levels of the three ocean front units just above the cliffiside pool. The four motel units have only a garden view but are much less expensive. The villas have louvered windows and triple sliding glass doors that allow you to have have the house wide open for the breezes. The pool is immaculate and provides sun and shade. There is a covered cabana for yoga or reading and stoned paved walkways to a perch on the cliffs to jump into the ocean and a ladder to get up easily. The ocean is often rough but hearty swimmers will love the waves and snorkeling. The bar and small food service area are covered with sail awnings. Like everywhere in Jamaica, the delivery of the meal is a potenitally multihour event, but you can lounge by the pool or on your porch and they will summon you for the meal. The cooking and the service were excellent. Small, very private feel with only two other families present, we felt like we had the property to ourselves. There is a daily private shuttle to their beach property, for a taste of the more bustling scene of their villas on Seven Mile Beach. Great Place and great location to explore the other cliffside attractions.
Look aweful from the ourside. Terrible. But was so surprised when i open the soor. Room is clean and comfortable. Impressed. But outside look like a rundown village
No water for drink Maskito bothered me inside of room Good breakfast Good and excellent front desk lady and excellent friendly staff Everyone was cooperative but, price of room is high based on facilities
Super friendly staff Beautiful views Big cozy room Tasty drinks The perfect place to escape from Big City life. Having the free shuttle to The beach lets you have the best of both worlds. A busier scene with more bars, restaurants and shopping. while having a peaceful and quiet place to retreat back to in the Cliffs. Will definitely be back.
Idle Awhile at the Cliffs is a lovely spot on the planet. Quiet and peaceful. Comfortable room and extremely pleasant staff. Jen and Sandy were especially helpful (names shortened because I have no clue how to spell their full names correctly). Chefs were very nice as well. Great folks! Breakfasts by the pool and ocean were wonderful! The beach (there's a daily shuttle to and from Idle Awhile at the Beach) was terrific as well! Beautiful property! Great staff! It's a wonderful place to go and relax. Best of all, since it's not all-inclusive, one is likely to take a cab and sample the wonderful local restaurants. The only reason that I did not give the property a 5 for cleanliness is that an open coconut was still in the fridge...just overlooked by the cleaning staff. The room was lovely. Regarding the facilities, they're great as well. Beautiful setting. Clean. Just not what a spoiled American might expect. For my wife and I, everything was perfect for our vacation!
To many mosquitoes and hotel just so so. Staff leaves at night, plan to have what you need or just go get it your self. Such as water or food.
Really nice staff who were unobtrusive and friendly. This place is a good hideout for relaxing, and is also very secure. You need a car though, as it is a little bit out of the way. Driving in Jamaica is easy, so don't be afraid of that prospect! Food was good, drinks were strong, pool was clean and refreshing, and the sunsets are WAY better than Rick's Café, not kidding. Go there and chill.
We decided to visit Jamaica at the last minute. We went with this hotel because they had a shuttle to their sister hotel at the beach which let us have both beach and cliff world. It worked out perfectly for us. There was snorkeling when the water was calm at the cliffs and the staff could not have been friendlier. the restaurant/food service was very personal and the chef was excellent. At the beach location we took advantage of hotel security and the staff's assistance in beach activities through the locals they knew and trusted. All in all I would return there without question. The guests we met were also neighborly and very helpful.
Nice off the beaten path location. Little inconvenient to get back to town…yet that is a benefit . Watch dogs were barking ( noticed it more at first then only a little bit ) in the night. It gave a feeling of security as no one was going to get Past those dogs. And they were super friendly to guests , plus you wouldn't know they were there in less you look for them.
I was extremely happy to see that the accommodations were exactly the way it was shown on the website. No unpleasant surprises. The chef "Moto" was great, willing to do whatever he could to make sure we were satisfied. The grounds are well kept. We were sorry we had to leave.
This resort was wonderful. We went during down season, so there were only a handful of other couples there, but the chef and bartender were still fantastic and available all day, and it made our stay particularly peaceful. The cliffs resort is located on the far end of the Negril cliffs, but the hotel staff were super helpful about getting us a shuttle or cab every time we wanted to go into town, and they ran a daily free shuttle service over to their location on the beach. The resort grounds were beautiful and well maintained, the view of the ocean was gorgeous, and our room was spacious and well kept. I would recommend the location to anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet getaway.
Our stay was amazing! Our room was right by the ocean so we were greeted with a breathtaking view of a Negril sunset when we arrived. The staff members were fantastic. They helped my bf surprise me with a birthday dinner oceanside and really went above and beyond to create that special moment for us. Rakesha and Jenora were some of the staff members who assisted us during our stay. The only thing that we didn't like was that many ants quickly appear in the kitchen for the smallest crumb, grain of rice or drop of juice on the counter. We suggest to be careful not to leave food on the counter unattended for any length of time and clean up any crumbs/spills immediately. We loved it there and hope to return someday.
This hotel was a piece of heaven. If you're looking for peace and tranquility....romantic get away or a relaxing experience please choose Idle Awhile! Ms. Sandra is the property manager and was very accommodating for me. Fabien the bartender took care of me with my favorite drinks! Yes, try the rum punch! Chef Shavon was amazing. He prepared breakfast for me and gave me the option of when and where I would like my meals served. I felt very comfortable and safe as a female solo traveler. Ms. Sandra has a preferred car service and shuttle that she can recommend. I will return very soon!
