The hotel itself is nice and has a pleasant appearance, but unfortunately, there were several things that disappointed me. The bathrooms look more like hospital bathrooms than those of a hotel, which really takes away from the overall experience. The soundproofing is also very poor. You can hear practically everything through the walls — even someone sneezing or making other small noises in the room next door. This was quite disturbing, especially when trying to relax or sleep. The breakfast was probably the biggest disappointment. I personally try to eat healthy, but there was practically nothing suitable for me. There were no vegetables, no salad and very little choice overall. It was mainly a traditional Irish breakfast, and even the omelette was not tasty. The selection was extremely limited, and the coffee was honestly terrible. However, I have to mention that the staff were excellent — very friendly, helpful and professional.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026We were so grateful for an earlier check-in time. We arrived in Shannon at 5am from the US and were able to rest a while before beginning our explorations of Athenry.
It was a little noisy at times with the sounds of water through the pipes. However, it wasn’t very crowded so the sounds were minimal.

I am kind of nitpicking because I felt it was a great stay, but the coffee was consistently mediocre.

Room was warm but given that we were in the middle of a heat wave we had our own fans with us. Family rooms could have been better if there was a bath as kids weren't keen on the shower and it was awkward with the sliding door not to splash water everywhere. Staff in the pool reception could be more mindful of customer service and not be on thier phones

Reviewed Aug 17, 2026I think the smiling from all the staff. I have been in the business of catering a long time, so its nice to see smiling staff at breakfast time. Couldn't do enough for me.. Everything was fantastic. All of facilities were top notch. Had a wonderful swim in the pool. Just right to finish the day. Lovely dinner also in the Bar to finish. Great staff there too. Love this hotel... I will definitely be back!.
There was nothing I DIDNT like. Keep doing what they do.

There was no soundproofing at all. We could hear the conversation of the guests next door (and they were not loud, just normal chatting). Also, the shower was clogged and flooded.

With global warming, the hotel could use air conditioning during the summer months.

Notre chambre se trouvait juste au-dessus de la salle de sport. L'isolation phonique n'était pas suffisante et nous entendions le bruit de la salle une bonne partie de la journée. En dehors de ce point, tout s'est très bien passé.

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026Staff are very helpful and friendy. Location is great. Room was spacious and comfortable. Food was delicious had the pizza first night and pork 2nd. Musician on saturday night was very good. Leisure centre was very nice steam room and sauna great quality.
Its quite pricey for b&b service. Leisure centre can get extremely busy, pool jacuzzi and sauna were boarding on overcrowded at times.

The hotel has no ac so rooms were very warm. the room had no amenities i.e shower cap face cloth glass or something to put your toothbrush in. The lighting in the room wasnt great. At a price of 200 euro room only it is not good value I would not consider this a 4 star more of a standard 3 star.

Reviewed Jul 16, 2026It was last minute booking for overprice, unfortunately. The hotel has a huge parking space, so it was comfortable to leave our car without spending time for parking in the town. There is a pub in the same building, but we came too late to have a dinner there. The room was big and clean, unfortunately with no conditioner, that in +28 was a problem. The personal was very welcoming and tried to make our stay comfortable.

The room was big and clean. The gym and spa facilities were well-equipped. The garden and grounds were well-kept. Decent breakfast.
Our room and communal areas were very warm. It was the middle of a heatwave, but there must be little or minimal air conditioning. It would have been good to have a room safe and fridge.

Another note: the reception said the hotel is "environmentally friendly," so no cleaning is needed. I really don't understand the concept of the same. Be honest, say you do save on the cleaning staff.

Petit déjeuner très décevant, pour le prix de 15€ par personne. Très peu de choix au niveau de fruits, boissons chaudes en supplément exceptés thé et café. Nous avions eu une chambre familiale mais elle était communicante avec la chambre voisine. Juste une porte en bois nous séparait. On entendait leur conversation… j’ai demandé à changer de chambre et me suis retrouvée avec ma famille dans une petite chambre où il faisait très chaud, vieillotte et avec un lit superposé qui ne peut convenir à deux ados. Papier peint et décoration d’un autre temps…Chambre 218 à fuir… On nous a prêté un ventilateur pour dépanner. Piscine (prendre des bonnets de bain) et espace spa vieillots. Bref très cher pour les prestations fournies.
