This is a lovely family owned property but contact was minimal. We were late for breakfast which we had purchased the night before. There was no assurance that we would not be charged for it.
We arrived slightly earlier than the check-in time, and were greeted by Christopher, who gave us a tour and couldn't have been nicer. We had two rooms for a family of 4. The rooms are very clean, and the beds were super comfy! The lodge is quiet. I barely heard or saw another tenant while we were there, even though they were fully booked. This is a beautiful property close to all the sites in Glendalough.
I’m not an experience traveler by any means but Christopher is an outstanding host. I felt well cared for and all of my needs were met happily. The room was lovely and well kept. The breakfast was outstanding and plentiful. I can’t recommend the Tudor Lodge highly enough. When I return to Glendalough I will definitely be staying at Tudor Lodge.
Family run comfy B&B made myself and friends feel most welcome. I would not hesitate to stay here again, if I’m in the area. Breakfast was very good, and plentiful - great way to start the day.
Beautiful area, easy check in process and very nice room and bathroom.
Conveniently located for Glendalough exploring. I was arriving later than planned and hosts were very communicative and helpful for my late check in.
We, unfortunately, got in late, but there were easy to follow instructions that allowed us to access our room. Very cozy, quiet, and great if you’re exploring the wider Wicklow area.
Beautiful BnB, lovely breakfasts, grounds were immaculate and the owner is a delight. Very gracious and welcoming. Also, a wealth of knowledge on the local area and walking trails in Glendalough. Peaceful, comfortable room with a great view, good wifi and amble shower space/hot water. Will definitely recommend and stay again!
We stayed at Tudor Lodge for one night as we wanted to explore Glendalough and do some hiking. The lodge is charming and we were welcomed when we arrived and shown to our room. Breakfast (at an additional charge) is fresh and plentiful and the lodge sit in a lovely quiet area - it was raining so we didn't explore the property much. Bed was large and comfortable, bathroom was clean and it was well situated to explore Glendalough 5 mins away by car. Add'l tip - Wicklow Heather Restaurant is 2 mins away and serves great lunch/dinner options.
This was a really beautiful place but the guy working there was a sassy pain in the behind. God forbid you need new towels or have a auestion
The Lodge is a four minute walk to town for bars and restaurants. It’s in a quiet location. The owner is very nice and helpful. The breakfast is excellent.
Rude host. None of the usual amenities in the room. Overpriced. I would avoid
Such a friendly welcome and lovely stay. Great breakfast as well, very cosy room. Perfect Wicklow getaway spot.
This property was amazing. It is exactly as advertised. The stream running behind the cottages leant to the atmosphere. This has become our favorite spot to stay when visiting Glendalough.
Property was ok but way overpriced. We took it since it was the last room available in the area. For the price we paid breakfast should have been included.
A beautiful location with excellent staff and easy access to Glendalough. Breakfasts were excellent and, again, the property is quite lovely.
Beautiful!
Very nice place in the countryside. Dining options and convenience store less than a mile from the hotel. Is a nice getaway from the busy city and a good access to nature areas. Vehicle definitely needed to get there and get around. Hotel was clean, quite for what it is. Would stay there again
It was a really welcoming, and respectful place to stay. The decor is fantastic. The cast iron handle of the bathroom in room 4 might fall off, but that didn't take away from the loveliness.
Very comfortablee
Loved loved loved! Great art, character, lansdscape, outdoor space, garden, I ate all my breakfast! I never eat all my breakfast! Staff at b and b was great! So glad I booked here! Interested in history of house though, I wish that was available. Local restaurants were walkable and delicious, great staff at hotel restaurant. The mattress was amazing. An espresso machine in room or a common area would be great. My husband wakes early and likes his shots o black. The coffee in the breakfast room was better than what he was able to make in the room, but there is an electric kettle and instant coffee. Knowing the history and some slight room reconfiguration to allow more room on the window side of the bed is the only other suggestion I have. We loved the curved brick feature in our room. As a stomach sleeper the large footboard was a pain and caused a bruise as I had the window side and I kept kicking the tea kettle table in the night. I dont think Im clumsy but my husband just laughed when I said that out loud so I dont know lol
Lovely inn and very convenient for walking with excellent restaurants nearby.
Set with a Tudor theme. The back area had a lovely garden and was right next to a little creek where kayakers were frolicking. Breakfast simple and just right for us.
I loved my stay. Room was cozy and clean. Walkable to Glendalough and some nearby shops, a lovely pub, and the bus stop back to Wicklow train station. Staff were incredibly nice and caring. They even brought me ice for my ankle that I injured while hiking the Wicklow Way. A great stop if you are hiking the Wicklow Mountains.
L’accueil fut plutôt froid et impersonnel par le propriétaire. La chambre, meublée de façon minimaliste et en plus sans chauffage à notre arrivée. Le point positif fût le service efficace et gentil par la personne préposée au service du déjeuner.
Close to a couple of eateries and trails. Nice walk to Glendalough. Pristine clean
Ff
Amazing location and walkable to Wicklow Nat'l Park and two very good restaurants. Breakfast was wonderful. Rooms and bathrooms maybe a bit outdated for some. Would stay here again.
Very nice, quiet, accommodating place. Would have liked a refrigerator. But very pleasant.
I stayed one night here and kind of wish I had stayed longer. The lodge is so cozy and charming. The host was so kind and helpful and had a great sense of humor. Glendalough is so beautiful and it was an easy walk to get to the monastic city from the lodge. Would absolutely recommend!
Quaint and peaceful
Very nice and cosy place for nature lovers . People very friendly and polite :) Place is clean and unique with beautiful vibe . Nature around the place in breath taken . Far from active civilisation. We really enjoyed our place . 7 ❤️😊
Very nice place to stay near Glendalough. Nice sitting area in the rear of the property next to the river
We thought our stay overall was very nice. The house is located in a rural area close to the Glendalough area hiking, which was quite nice.
We had a lovely stay at Tudor Lodge. Our room was very spacious compared with others we stayed at during our trip. Breakfast was ok but the comfortable bed was excellent for my back. Very close to all the surrounding walks and lakes. Very enjoyable stay.
Tudor Lodge was one of the nicest we had in Ireland. It was isolated and the decor had a lot of wood. It felt very homey and comfortable. We hated leaving.
This little gem is a great find! We loved it here. It was beautiful and we were at home immediately! The rooms are clean, the grounds were beautiful and the location is within walking distance of what you need in the Wicklow Mountains. Do not look anywhere else!!
Lovely place in a beautiful spot!
A really nice B&B nestled in a beautiful part of Ireland, very spacious room with comfortable rooms. A great pub 6 min walk away and a nice restaurant a bit further away. The breakfast was extra and a little below expectation to be honest so i wouldn't have that again . But I would stay here again without question. The lady who met us at check in was very helpful and pleasant. Glad we booked for two nights.
A true gem! Don’t miss this charming B&b - friendly service, great breakfast, wonderful location, very clean. We loved it!
Great location for hikers. Facility very old, not good shower pressure or hot water. We stayed on lower level, but too much noice even simple walking was disturbing.
This is a wonderful place to stay in Wicklow, and is walkable to Glendalough and the Wicklow Way. My room was small but very clean and comfortable and charmingly appointed with a large bath, desk, very good internet, etc. Breakfast was ample and they had the best brown bread locally made. For those looking to hike and be mindful of the environment, there is a bus from Dublin that drops you 5 mins away, and the Lodge is on a trail to all the local hikes, dinner is also walkable so you do not need a car at all to visit a few days. But if you drive, there was ample parking. Lovely gardens. Hosts are very nice. One minor minor note- on check in there should be more information (my towels were never changed- should I have dropped on the floor? and after hours I had no idea how to contact and request)
The owner of the lodge was amazing and made local suggestions of things to do. We would stay in this place again to be sure!
There were outside lights on all night (good for safety), but no black-out shades or curtains on the windows. This made the room quite light,...and if you like a dark room to sleep, this isn't it. I liked the B&B, but would advise bringing eye masks.
Beautiful place! Wonderful breakfast!
We stayed here for a night of our honeymoon and it was incredible. The staff were exceptional and the location was perfect. If we ever find ourselves back in the area we’ll certainly stay again!
The caretaker let us in early and even brought my back up the winding staircase.
Charming rooms in a beautiful location just minutes from Glendalough. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Tudor character of the exterior carries over to the rooms. Breakfast was excellent.
Tudor Lodge is a very pleasant and charming property to stay at. Because of the outside amenities it would have been nice to stay longer than a single day. Check-in was simple and easy, parking ample, breakfast was great. Would book when I am in the area again.
Very helpful check in, lovely big room and a nice breakfast. Great location with 2 fabulous pubs nearby and some very nice walks
Close to Gledalough
Most comfortable bed of our whole trip!
Christopher was great!
Great place to stay; very cozy and convenient for visiting Glendalough!
Nice place.
The host was nice and friendly but the check in procedure was different from what I'm use too. Had to ring a door bell and the owner came to help me check in. For the room, it had a musty smell to it which walls chipping its paint with god awful red carpet. The windows had no screen so I couldn't leave my window open. It was really warm in there which made it difficult to sleep. Felt stuffy. Quite the rustic feel I got from this place. I liked the dungeon key they give you for your stay. Thought that was neat. Good thing I didn't have the breakfast included option because it looked to be a very poor selection of food. Alot of it looked unappetizing to me. It looked plain and boring as well. The dining area had a good vibe to it though. I liked the location as it was close to the trails.
Easy one night stay if you are seeing the local sites. Friendly staff and basic accommodations. Good breakfast. 2 restaurants in the area that are under a 10 minute walk.
Awesome place, comfortable room, great host and breakfast, great location.
Lovely B&B in spectacular location! The host was very attentive and courteous and had lots of information about the local area. The room was lovely and clean and comfortable. It was well appreciated after a day of hiking. I would highly recommend Tudor Lodge to anyone that was thinking about exploring Wicklow.
Nice comfortable option in Laragh, within walking distance of restuarants and pubs in the village, and close to Glendalough. Host had plenty of good tips for the surrounding area
Chris was a great host friendly, approachable and informative about the walks and where to dine in the area. Our room was clean and comfortable good shower always plenty of hot water. Dining room bright and cheerful plenty of choice for breakfast food fresh.
Tudor lodge was beautiful and the room was very comfortable. We would definitely stay again.
Great location, superb B&B. The rooms and decor is adorable and the breakfast is amazing. The host is really friendly and gave us great hiking advice (insider knowledge ;-) )
We really enjoyed our stay here. The bed was warm and cozy. Our room was #3 with a lovely window, dark beams and nice shower. The grounds were immaculent. He puts so much time in this splendid lodge. Just beautiful! Our host was so kind and helpful. I highly recommend this wonderful stay. Breakfast was lovely.
Go for it location at the best very friendly atmosphere will be pleased to come back again +++ thank you
The Tudor lodge was excellent place to to stay
Lovely little very scenic beautiful ambience. Gorgeous garden in the river . Very near everything you need .
Christopher was great! Property is walking distance to hiking trails and town.
Excellent breakfast. Great location. Friendly staff.
Good parking. Comfy bed. Can walk to pub. It was ver clean and quiet.
Wonderful location, little villiage of laragh, 20 min walk along the path that the monks built. Very convenient to get to glendalough visitor centre and all the walks. The hotel rooms were so cosy, clean and beautiful. The atmosphere was superb. There's a fantastic restaurant that does great vegan food called Wicklow heather. Lovely shop 5 min walk. Lovely, friendly pub 5 min walk. Breakfast was absolutely outstanding. All cooked as you sit and enjoy continental breakfast. Fresh fruit, cereals and all the trimmings. Last but definitely not least, the owners who run this beautiful b&b are out of this world. So warm and informative, really relaxing aura. I felt even more at home there than in my own home!!!! I don't ever return places even if they were good because I always like to try different places/hotels. Yet, this is a place I will visit time and time again. I miss it an incredible amount' mainly because of how welcomed I was.
Brilliant location in a beautiful part of the world. Christopher was lovely with good local knowledge. Couldn't fault the hospitality and breakfast was fantastic
The view and location of the B&B were fantastic. The room we stayed in had everything you needed. Great holiday!
The owner Chris was friendly and check-in was smooth, although you do have to ring the bell and wait for someone to come to the front door. The lodge has two chalets out back and we stayed in one of these as we had our dog with us. The location is beautiful. There is a deck at the bottom of the garden looking out into the river. If the weather cooperated it would be beautiful too eat breakfast or sit out here sipping on a drink. The chalet was cozy and clean. Although there was tea and coffee in the kitchen, there was no milk or anything else, so get some provisions before arriving because if staying in the chalet it is self catering. The shower temperature was barely luke warm and we brought this to the attention of the owner but he said he couldn't do anything about it. It's an electric shower and the thermostat needs replacing. At €135 per nights it's on the expensive but a perfect location for exploring the national park and surrounds. TV reception is poor but we aren't there to watch TV so aren't too bothered about that. A couple of small recycling bins would also be welcome in the kitchen. A little more attention to detail would make this place really worth it.
Our host Chris was most warm and welcoming, we felt quit at home in this gorgeous property, which was comfortable, clean and quaint. Located within a healthy walking distance to the Glendalough historical Monastic Site and surrounded by beautiful Irish countryside this was a lovely stopover. Fabulous and generous Irish breakfast with teamakinf facilities to room, aqbsolutely recommend Tudor Lodge 10/10
Tudor Lodge is a fantastic place to stay and in a most beautiful place. Chris is brilliant, very welcoming and friendly, a great host, he can't do enough for you and his local knowledge so helpful. Food lovely, rooms clean, traditional, homely and comfortable, cleaned every day. We are definately going back.
The lodge was beautiful with a very nice stream behind it. The breakfast was delicious with lots of good choices.
Lovely staff, comfortable bed. Bedside table and light on one side of bed only even though there was room on other side of bed for these. A breakfast menu would be a bonus
Beautiful setting in Glendalough only a brief walk to the nat park and hikes! Chris and family are wonderful! Made our honeymoon even more special.
We were greated by friendly Christopher who showed us around to our cabin. Was nicely surprised that it was small kitchen in a cabin which is great when you have a young family. Beautiful garden and lovely seating area next to the river. The place was clean and comfortable. Great location. Walking distance to the restaurants and shop. We had a nice stay.
Lovely atmospheric hotel, run by lfriendly hospitable people. Great rooms, gardens and breakfast.
Breakfast was lovely staff Property was amazing Location was great
You will feel like you are at home when you stay at this B and B. What a beautiful area!
The Tudor was nice but the description was misleading. We did not know what "self catering" meant and were disappointed to learn that breakfast was not included in our package. After all they call themselves a "B&B. We did not think that was right and the owner would not make it good. He needs to clarify his description.
Wonderful location. Chris made me feel very welcome. The room was great and spacious, bathroom was clean and the breakfasts were great. Plenty of car parking too.
I'm sorry to say I was disappointed about this place. We stayed in Room 8 which was so cold I had to ask for a heater because we went to bed in PJs, socks, t shirt and scarf! The response wasn't great as I was told that nobody had reported this before (which didn't help me feel valued) and that the heating had been on for 12 hours. I did get a portable heater though and after about an hour the room started to feel more normal. The shower room had no heating and was quite cold! There was a small TV on top of the wardrobe, and the only tea/coffee provided seemed to be the supplies with kettle in the corridor, which we thought was shared with the room opposite. It included an open jar of small cookies which didn't help as we had no idea how long the jar was open. Breakfast was good but the choices weren't obvious (I didn't hear the offer for a full Irish) but the scrambled egg was presented really well and tasted lovely! There was no choice of bread for toast offered but when I asked for brown instead of the white provided was given soda bread toasted. The area is lovely, and at least one other resident said their room was lovely and warm so perhaps it's just room 8!! Having stayed in two previous places in Dublin and Clonmel for €51 and €80 respectively, we did not feel this €95 represented good value for money.
A lovely lodge, with pleasant host, and separate entrance for guests that gives privacy.. red carpeted room with ceiling beams and open brick feature. Breakfast excellent. Bed very large and cosy. Showers hot, and as it was chilly weather the heating was on full. We were within walking distance of Lynam's pub, with great atmosphere and good bar food. And very close to Glendalough for a drive and walk.
Easy to find. Rooms noisy if other quests aren't considerate - but even walking quietly in hallway could be heard and wake you up if others came in late. Breakfast was very nice. A little more pricey than some other places of equal quality.
Located 1-2 km from Glendalough in residential country setting. Large room. Good breakfast.
I didn’t want to rate this hotel poorly-but your review system gives me no other way to give feedback. After booking a year ago and having an Expedia confirmation, we were disappointed to find they did not have a record of it. It was an extremely busy weekend for the area. The inn keeper was kind enough to call around and found us a place to stay. The hotel has no computer system and had faulty record keeping.
We stayed in the new pine chalet, which unfortunately lacks any wardrobes or hanging space. the generous sized beds filled the rather small bedrooms, but we were able to use one bed to store our clothing on as there were only two of us. This chalet is really idea for a group of up to four backpackers who don't need anywhere to hang clothes. The owners are very friendly and the sitting area by the river is most relaxing, particularly the hanging seat!
Centrally located for Glendalough, Wicklow Gap, and mountains. Pub and restaurant within walking distance.
In a beautiful area. I didn't spend much time there though. Proprietors are friendly and helpful, room clean attractive, well appointed. Very nice breakfast.
Tudor Lodge read well, looked appealing on internet search for accommodation and we thought we had chosen well However the stay proved disappointing. The bedroom said to be for three persons was small, the bathroom was no bigger than a cupboard and could best be described as ' a walk in but reverse out' - no way could you undress, shower, after drying then dress in there. The towels were stained and the smell of urine was overwhelming. The TV had no signal. To add to our disappointment was the fact that the breakfast offered was mediocre and to top it all we were charged as for 3 people staying when in fact we were just 2. making it far too expensive for B&B. Had we been aware of this we could have sourced a hotel for around the same money. Wouldn't recommend it and definitely would never use it again.. All in all a disappointing experience.
Last minute decision and a good one
Friendly reception; helpful advice; clean functional rooms; good breakfast; restaurant and good pub a few minutes walk or drive away, and close to many attractions of the area. About all that can be asked of a B&B.
Beautiful and peaceful place to spend a night or vacation.
Chris and Jane were wonderful hosts and prepared a fantastic Irish breakfast.
The lodge was wonderful. The owners were terrific at making us feel welcome and resolved a small situation for us to our complete satisfaction. We would definitely return for a longer stay.
