Provider-sourced guest reviews.
the staff were all excellent and helpful, breakfast buffet was well stocked and hot.bar prices were good.very pleasent spot next to the river.
the only thing i would say that the down stairs needed a more thorough dust I'm just being picky, lights covers and side of stairs.
Room and breakfast
Ability to alter the water temperature from the shower.
we are returning visitors and very satisfied with the experience, good breakfast, lovely situation with the river and views of the surrounding countryside.
rude awakening with fire alarm as we only got in at 0200 so were woken at 0820 with a bit of a shock, however the owner was very appologetic and we were happy with that.
We really enjoyed our stay. We found the staff to be super friendly, the food was really tasty and good value for money. Our room was clean and there was an overall good vibe in the hotel, bar and restaurant. It's also perfectly positioned for visiting local attractions and places of interest. Would definitely return.
There was nothing we didn't like, we had a lovely 2 night stay.
The garden area and car park area was a good size.
The rooms are dated, the air con was hit and miss. And I wish I never paid the extra for riverside as I was looking at a couple of branches in a steam.
Staff very helpful, great to have an overnight porter as we arrived very late.
Nothing
Very clean Staff were lovely
Breakfast was excellent , secure parking for motorcycle, aircon
Small rooms
Lovely 😍 👌
Friendly attentive staff !!
Location to the airport was great

The room was well equiped and spacious.
Location lovely. Building lovely.
Room small and beyond basic. Beds old/tired. Pillows solid. Way overpriced.
Location, Quiet rooms. Excellent breakfast.
Comfortable bed, clean room. Good shower and bath with excellent hot water/pressure. Great breakfast. Friendly efficient staff. Convenient location and beautiful setting at the back with access to a nature reserve.
Our room was right next to the main entrance and smokers area so we were woken by inconsiderate guests leaving early/returning late and smokers outside our window. A plant pot was provided at the entrance for cigarette butts which doesn't create a great first impression for non-smokers.
Dinner was excellent
Rooms nearest the road suffer with a lot if road noise from very early hours
Staff were really friendly and helpful
Lovely view of the river with the room, quiet location, staff was friendly, food was nice. It is a bit pricey but we had a good stay.
Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner in the room as well as the restaurant (dirty chairs)
Room
When we booked with booking .com we thought we were having an accessible room because this is how your website showed it. You need to get your act together!! Our first night had to be in a room unsuitable for my disabled wife!!! Fortunately the hotel staff were able to change the room for an accessible one only due to a cancellation! Hotel said it was a constant problem with Booking.com
All around good experience, clean and comfort
Very well kept
Back view over the river. Breakfast was great but not included, which for £113 for the room for a night was disappointing
Busy with traffic at getting there and leaving but then you can’t change that!
Niets.
Great location next to the river
Nothing
On arrival the receptionist was lovely..I even got an upgrade as I been having a ruff time in the few years
I couldnt pull the shower pin up on mixer tap.. but the bath was great
The Staff. The Breakfast. It is always great. The room. The facilities in the room. Easy parking.
Nothing.
Would like continental breakfast
English breakfast
Setting overlooking river..very picturesque and relaxing. Staff always friendly & helpful.
Although property is clean & tidy some areas could do with a little improvement…carpet on stairs a bit worn & bathroom shower not easy to use. Food adequate but a little bland.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and so was the room. The dining room was nicely laid out and the food was very good. Also the service was excellent in the restaurant
Really great hotel and super friendly staff. Clean and spacious rooms. Restaurant food is delicious. We have stayed here numerous times now and doesn't disappoint.
Comfy room close to our morning ferry departure from Poole. Excellent value for money. Pleasant, quiet riverside location and a good meal in the restaurant.
Staff were friendly, breakfasts and evening meal(sea bass) were good with a variety of choice, plenty of parking at rear
Would have liked the option of scrambled egg not just fried egg on breakfast menu. Room needed more table/parking space to open suitcase and place items on. Also being in a heatwave a mini fridge would have been welcome to keep some cold water in. We should have booked an accessible room as we both have mobility issues and struggled up stairs as no lift. We were unable to shower as the shower is over a bath which we were unable to safely climb into as no hand rail on wall. There is only one accessible twin room available in this hotel of over 200 rooms.
Great location
A bit too much traffic noise
Great location on the river with loads of wildlife on show. Feels like being with family, tidy room, nice and clean lovely view from the window
Convenient location for the event we attended
Nothing
The room was compact, but clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very small but clean. Meals were good and the staff great especially Mike, who couldn’t have done more to make our stay comfortable The double glazing masked the traffic noise well
Easy check-in. Food good. Rooms clean and comfortable. Air con an unexpected and pleasant bonus in the July heat! Nice to have tab open. Car park was secure with plenty of space.
Great location if flying from Bournemouth Airport and added bonus is that you can leave your car at the premises for the duration of your holiday
always a comfortable experience ,lovely staff, peaceful surroundings.
Fab view over the river at the back with access via a bridge to the central island. Breakfast can be taken outside on the verandah. Lots of parking. Rooms perfectly good.
From the front it looks like a motel/harvester type place on the roadside... But that belied the scenic back of the building. Breakfast was adequate and they did a full English buffet but it was pretty standard and not too healthy. The bathroom mirror light didn't work and a pet hate of mine, very slippy bath which you had to climb in/out of (I ended up putting the bath mat in the bath as a non slip else I'm pretty sure I'd have slipped over especially if soapy). Bed was bouncy but nice pillows.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was clean. The air con in the room was really nice given the bar/ restaurant area was really hot and muggy given the recent weather. Good car park at the rear of the hotel.
Unfortunately we were given the cosy king room right next to the entrance / reception of the hotel (room 113). The room was VERY noisy! Every 15 minutes you could heard a loud vibrating noise for a few moments. I’m not sure what this was maybe the air con unit? But it was loud enough to keep you awake and was constant. As we were so close to reception and the entrance you could hear talking of people smoking outside the entrance late into the night. General traffic noise through the reception area was also heard in the room. Deliveries arriving early morning, topped off with the general road traffic just made for constant noise! Whilst road traffic noise was expected given the location, overall it was all abit overwhelming leaving us with two sleepless nights. The second night of our stay there was also a party where the music could be heard in the room. The mattress and pillows were both very hard and uncomfortable. However I know this is a personal preference it’s a good reference of what to expect. Evening meal was mediocre. Overall disappointing stay for us.
Location, friendly attentive staff and food quality in evening
Breakfast selection wasn’t the best and buffet style
Pub.
Old. Dirty. Bad value for money. Needs a renovation
Team members very welcoming, helpful & friendly. Bed very comfortable. Very clean room. Nice having tea coffee kettle in room.
Recommend and will return. Would be nice to have a cuppacino machine at breakfast.
Location by the river was stunning
Room was lovely, bed comfortable. We had to cut short our break due to daughter being called into hospital for heart surgery at short notice. Staff were very understanding and with managers permission we were able to cancel 2 of our nights .
Nothing
Great as always.staff friendly as always .Great place to stay...
Love the setting with the river nice and peaceful
Nothing
The breakfast was all we could wish for, and the kitchen staff even cooked my daughter's breakfast separately so it didn't come into contact with mushrooms. They also presented her with a mini birthday cake for her birthday! All the staff were wonderful - friendly and very helpful. The rooms were clean, and well decorated. The beds were extremely comfortable. All in all a really lovely stay :-)
Can't think of anything!😁
A last minute one night stay to attend a family event . Couldn't fault anything . Very welcoming staff , a good meal and breakfast and ample parking
Room, Staff, View.
Breakfast was dry and over cooked, After asking for poached eggs i was told 5 mins. I received two rock hard eggs 20 minutes later once my dry overcooked breakfast had gone cold. Not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.
Second stay within the week, as a stopover to and from Jersey using the Poole ferry. This time with breakfast. Had upgraded room with river view, splendid. Breakfast was good. Staff again excellent.
Would prefer a stand up shower.
The location was very good for us as we have family in ferndown. And have stayed at the bridge quite a few times now .
Was all good.
Lovely location and good facilities and attentive staff.
Spotlessly clean in rooms and public areas. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great views of the river and local wildlife. Good food and drink at a reasonable price. One small area to improve on your coffee is not great.
staff were very good, friendly, welcoming, helpful; terrace was very good throughout; air con excellent; bar area very good.
I should have booked a room with a
Staff very friendly, room was a great size with a comfortable bed. Views over the river are amazing. Reported a problem to reception and it was sorted immediately.
Nothing.
Extremely comfy beds!
Dinner on Sunday finished far too early!
Comfortable room with everything one would expect. Exceptional breakfast
Schöner Blick auf den Garten, gutes Frühstück.
Wenig engagiertes Personal und nicht überall sauber. Relativ hellhörig durch dünne Wände.
Quiet room, good bathroom. Improved staff attitude since my previous stay
Air com not very controllable.
Great hotel and pub, friendly and helpful staff. Great location
Nothing
Lovely staff, great food.

All good nice welcome every one friendly
Our first visit, and we hope not our last. Good comfortable room. Excellent, friendly, service, throughout our stay.
Excellent stay as usual. Friendly professional staff. Riverside Room was brilliant too
Breakfast was amazing. The secure parking was also important. Staff were lovely. And the back of the hotel is beautiful
Bed a bit uncomfy.
The Bridge house is is our go to place to stay when visiting family in Dorset. The hotel is clean staff are friendly, food is excellent and value for money.
Were woken up at 7am by cleaning staff taking out their cleaning trolleys from a cupboard by our door. The clattering continued for 15 mins and then happened on and off for the next hour as they started their cleaning. Their equipment was stored the other side of our bedroom wall. Very frustrating...
Lovely location, supper comfy bed and super quiet
loevly river terrace
Busy road. Food delivery on Monday morning early and work us up. Very noisey
Spacious room with king size bed and bath on ground floor right next to the river. I was so happy when I was given this room, it was exactly what I wanted, but hadn’t asked for. This was a solo business trip, the only negative being that I should also have booked the Sunday night too and made the most of it. Room was beautifully clean and air conditioned but threw the windows open and turned it off to listen to the river and the wildlife. It was superb. Saw lots of wildlife (swans, moorhens, trout, little egret). The location of the hotel and the room added something very special to the stay. Ate in the restaurant, food good and staff pleasant and helpful, great ambassadors for the hotel. The water pressure in room was extremely good so enjoyed a lovely relaxing bath. Bed was very clean and comfortable so slept well. Enjoyed a beautifully cooked full English breakfast the next morning. Parking on site was secure and check in/out speedy. As a result will actively be seeking another business trip to Ferndown so I can stay again.
Lovely rooms
Nothing
Riverside room view was wonderful
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at the Bridge House Hotel again. We were given a downstairs room for Disabled people as my husband is awaiting a knee operation. It was ideal and everything was very clean as usual. All of the staff are so friendly, we will be back later in the year.
Nice greenery view beside river
Not flexible for late check out
It was close to my business. There were very good paths for jogging in the evening. The breakfast was good.
My room faced the main road and the car noise did wake me in the morning around 4AM. I ate in the restaurant each night. I wish there were more salad options. I tried to choose healthy meals but it was not easy. Wish hotel had gym facilities.
I liked the scenery, food and drinks were good and staff was ok
The rooms are a little to small, we were both struggling to walk around the bed! Also when we got there, we noticed it wasn't the cleanest but far from the worst! As soon as we got to our room, we noticed hairs on our clean towels, the bed side tables were dusty etc
Early checkin facilitated. Just a nice place.
N/A
Secure a car parked at the back really handy at no extra charge like some other hotels around Gatwick area
Restaurant was quite dark not much choice really food we went to a pub down the road very nice the Angel inn
We have stayed quite a few times and always enjoy our stays. Lovely room with shower which I had requested . The outside patio area is lovely to sit with a drink and the weather was great so very welcome to be able to sit overlooking the river.
The bed we had sloped a bit which made it difficult to get comfy. We always eat in the restaurant and usually happy with the meals and it was disappointing this time to have quite tough chicken in my burger.
The breakfast was well organised and we were able to self select items. The view of the river was lovely with birds to observe. The staff were helpful .Our room was spacious and the bathroom spotless.
As it was so hot we could bot use the duvet. It might be an idea in these heat waves to offer a flat top sheet. The shower over the bath was good but being slippery and curved, a mat would have been a safe option.
Bridgehouse hotel came galloping to the rescue when we were badly treated at a premierinn. Great hotel we have stayed in before right on the gorgeous river stour with wildlife galore easy parking and a more than delicious breakfast. Ask for a river view room and there is no noise from main road
So friendly, clean, welcoming, nothing is to much trouble for the staff , fantastic views , air conditioning a dream excellent stay altogether thank you
Nothing
The location was good for me to see my family who live in ferndown. And we have stayed here often.
They could have been a bottle of water put in each room . And two packs of biscuits too. Instead of one pack.
Air conditioning!
Just another stay over, but this time just for the one night. As usual, the hotel staff were super efficient and friendly with it. On such a hot Summers day, how good was it to walk into our room that had the air con just right. On this occasion the extra £20 to book in early was so worth it. Reception welcoming, bar staff efficient and catering manager customer facing and always ready to help. I recommend you try a stay when in the area.
Location
Only 1 pack of biscuits between two for a 4 night stay. Veranda not swept regularly. Very large spider webs not removed from gazebo’s for 4 days. Layers of dirt under glass tops of tables on veranda.
Getting to talk to someone on the phone with a simple question before booking and not be routed to an automated service was a huge thing. The desk welcome and simple check in was invaluable after a long and tiring journey to get here. The room was wonderfully cooled by air conditioning, the cotton sheets and comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities were all we needed to feel comfortable to rest straight away. Breakfast was easy, assisted by the friendly staff, a quiet, pleasant dinner, and a stroll over the bridge to admire the swans and fish ended a great day.
Check in / out was efficient and staff were all friendly. Plenty of parking available. We got upgraded (as a Best Western Platinum member) to a river view which was definitely a lovely surprise. The room was clean and very spacious, and the fact there was an air conditioning unit (during the hot weather) was such a bonus. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom spacious. There was a kettle and tea/coffee provided (with a good selection of teas). Lovely location next to the River Stour. Saw swans, fish, and egret, dragon flies. Had a lovely late dinner overlooking the river and surrounding fields. Breakfast was a good variety of hot and cold options. Would recommend
What a gorgeous spot! Popped in here for a quick meeting, staff were very friendly, professional and polite, we sat in the club room which was quiet and ideal for colleagues to chat, we ordered two light sandwiches, ham and beef, which were both very tasty and hit the spot, there was outdoor seating too overlooking the river, plenty of parking at the back. What a hidden gem! Will definitely be back
Lovely setting on river... relaxing and friendly staff .. room very clean and comfortable overlooking rivers and wildlife...
Near airport so a bit noisey.. slept very well though.. would stay here again
This was the third year we visited your wonderful hotel. As we visit the Bournemouth Bus Rally. Room are great as are the breakfast. Hopefully will be visiting soon. Staff are friendly and helpful. Please pass on my thanks to them. Looking forward to my next visit.
Nice bed linen and towels, good AC and parking.
Bed very uncomfortable and noise from the road, room small, slippery bath no handrail or bath mat for inside the bath or grips to stop slipping
Sammy in Reception was very helpful and upgraded our room so that we were nearer the stairs The room was light, airy and spacious overlooking the river We had dinner in the Restaurant and all the staff were very pleasant and accommodating Breakfast also very good
Can't think of anything negative
room was comfortable although a little compact

It was a pleasant enough hotel. Breakfast good. Bed comfortable. Room basic but clean. Terrace was lovely for breakfast outside looking over the river.
Check in was very confusing and long winded with the night porter. I was expecting a lot more luxury for the price we paid. And had to pay extra for breakfast.
I love it
Good location Disabled parking outside
Tv too small Air conditioning located in wrong place too near bed No USB outlets
