Great hotel and staff. Easy access to restaurants and getting around
Very comfortable and clean, with a great shuttle service to the airport
I stayed here for 1 night and it was great. The staff was friendly and check-in was pretty easy. The room was big and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and nice as well. The wifi and aircon were strong too. I had a free breakfast but I didn't eat because of my early departure time. They provide a free "shuttle" (van). All in all, I would definitely recommend this place if your flying out of Pudong
every thing is good. Due to covid 19, service for airport pickup was impacted. Otherwise is great.
Location and free shuttle bus to disneyland was good Staff could not help much on disneyland services and provide direct help
LUXURIOUS FIVE STAR HOTEL
My review was not going to be kind but it was rescued by the intervention of the the manager who in my opinion deserves a promotion. It’s a very short cab ride from the airport. The shuttle never came and got me although it was prebooked. Rooms were gorgeous included coffee and tea. Restaurant was ok. Tips: you can not use the the pool without the swim cap, it’s a long walk to the subway, and there is nothing to do in the immediate area. The manager knowing how upset I was about the shuttle bought me a birthday cake and it was so sweet and kind he truly cares about the happiness of the guests. Hopefully that does trickle down to the staff. If you want to see and explore shanghai this is not the location for a beautiful airport hotel I would highly recommend. Just download google translate. Also I got a fabulous massage in the hotel.
Good alternative than going into Shanghai if transit stay
Perfect hotel for use as overnight transit or a base for Disney. Recommend restaurants and the concierge service was efficient.Though Lacking English skills the staff did everything possible to be helpful. Was originally given a cigarette smoke smelling room. they quickly changed our room.
Terrible wifi requires a Chinese phone number to sign in (International Hotel?). An attendant had to come up to the room to use his local cell phone to help us sign in to wifi which ended up to be very weak anyway. It was frustrating. The executive lounge I paid extra for was closed for "renovation". The room ordered was non-smoking but it smelled with smoke. The lobby check-in staff did not speak English.
Great facility nicely maintained, and near PVG airport.
We spent three nights at this hotel on our trip to China. The location is great with easy access to local food or western food. It was clean and comfortable and the food was good. We spent some time walking around the neighbourhood as well and felt quite safe.
Need to update hairdryer. A 1200 v travel one doesn't work well.
Everything good, outside of urban, but just take 10-15 minutes walk to subway for everywhere of Shanghai.
The staff was very helpful, and the room was very comfortable
This is only a 3 to 4 star hotel now....over priced for what you get........its all Chinese now.....Same as staying at Green Tree hotel but triple the price.
I liked how breakfast was included with the stay. They were very punctual with the wake up call when it was needed.
I would say that the hotel is ok. The hotel and rooms are big. There is a problem with communication, the housekeeping and room service departments don’t speak well English and takes time to order and request something. It was nice that there is the pillow menu and I’ve tried the apricot-preserve pillow and had a good sleep. I can say, that’s the pillows are not for everyone, so you have to order and to try. The location is closed to the PVG airport and you have to take metro to reach the centre of Shanghai! For one night this is hotel is perfect. There is a mall within 10 min walking distance, the location is better to ask the hotel receptionist. The cleaning of the room was good.
Only the hotel exterior not attracting, rooms and breakfast are fantastic.
The hotel was lovely .. wish to stay longer next time
Hotel is very good, the service and support staff are cooperative. But the location is an issue particularly if you are going to move around using subway/metro. The wifi is a problem for outsiders like us trying to open sites which are either prohibited like Google etc. Else local search engine like Sogou etc runs quite fast.
Very poor English communication overall. I used the 2nd floor restaurant, rated as the first class with five stars. None of the attendants understand the basic English and the English menu does not tell anything. At the end the restaurant manager charged me for the wrong table; over charged me. I mentioned the restaurant’s mistake to the hotel manager when checking out; totally in vain.. he does not understand any English... very disappointed.
Pleasant though accessibility is abit far from metro
Good Excellent pricing Nice large room Clean room Near PVG Airport Bad Arranged for hotel shuttle, bus never turned up. Rang hotel and they said bus had come and gone, which it hadn't as I had been waiting for 30 minutes. Telling lies to your customers is never a good sign. Tried to arrange airport shuttle for return, shuttle only does fixed times and I would have to wait 3 hours for the next one. Do they actually have a shuttle bus? This hotel is in the middle of nowhere and I mean nowhere. The metro station is about a 20 minute walk and the walk to the station did not feel safe. The area around the hotel is very very local, do not expect to see international restaurants and bars, they aren't any. I found the area outside the hotel unsafe and I saw no tourists in the area. The hotel has a Chinese restaurant, I was the only diner when I went and it was quite expensive. It took about 45 minutes on the metro to get into town. Missed the last train (about 10pm) and struggled to get a taxi. All the drivers refused to take me and eventually when I found a driver who would, they wanted 400 RMB. In summary, this hotel is just too far from central Shanghai and the metro is not as near as mentioned in other reviews.
Very good, nice and clean, I liked shuttle bus to airport.
Very oldfasion hotell that really needs an upgrade of rooms and hallways. This is not a five star hotel. That was many years ago. It is located not to far from the airport and a long drive from Shanghai senter. Reseption staff is not very friendly. Restaurant is good and more up to date with a very friendly staff.
I loved my view and room. Everyone was lovely. I would have liked to have a room service menu in my room.
lovely rooms with bath. Could not get a decent glass of wine though!!
We went to Shanghai to do a cruise and this hotel seemed to fit the bill, It has an hourly shuttle service from the airport which we used, approximately 20min drive. The hotel has a very imposing lobby but it was very cold, check in was very easy but the staff had a very poor command of English as did most of the staff we met. The bedroom was very good comfortable beds and a large bathroom with a wet room and a deep tub with a tv screen, the amenities were unbelievable everything you could ever want, robes slippers the list just went on and on it even had two smoke masks in case of fire. The coffee shop was very good but like the lobby very cold the waiting staff wore overcoats so did a lot of the clientele. This is a very difficult review to submit nothing wrong with the hotel but would I stay again I have to say No
Very close to Pudong airport only 15 minutes driving,, nice rooms.good breakfast nice indoor swiming pool
Great overall experience, excellent hotel, friendly staff, great buffet breakfast, nice area, malls and stores nearby
Amazing room! Amazing bath! Huge rain forest shower, plus a huge free standing tub. Surprising, a glass wall between the bath and bedroom. But there was a blind that lowered with a push of a button. Close to airport with free shuttle. Robes and slippers. Attentive and very helpful staff.
A beautiful hotel but the taxi driver found it difficult to find.
Nice hotel. Comfortable bed and beautiful hotel room
It was a very comfortable hotel but it was way too far from the city of Shanghai
Very good hotel near Pudong Airport
Very fine hotel. Rooms are very spacious, modern, comfortable & very well equipped. Highly recommended if you need to stay near the airport. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in early in the morning.
Great service. The staff was very attentive and kind. If I was in Shanghai longer I would have stayed longer at the hotel.
Nice room except that it smelled like smoke. It was a little annoying that the free hotel shuttle only picked up at the airport every 2 hours, I ended up taking a taxi upon arrival. I tried to order room service for an early breakfast but they were still on the late night menu and could offering me a steak or burger but I could not get a coffee or croissant (no cooking needed) at 5:30 am. I thought that was weird.
Had a long layover at Pudong Airport, we decided to stay and rest at this property for few hours since was only 5 minutes away from the airport, it was a great decision.
An excellent choice for a hotel close to Pudong airport. It is clean and comfortable with a good breakfast and the restaurant has a range of choices for dinner. We have returned 4 times and have been happy with each visit.
English is very bad for waitress. When I was in restaurant, I asked in English. She didn’t understand.
Good place to stay if flying out of Shanghai Pudong airport. Room was very comfortable and the service excellent. Hotel was a good price.
We arrived about 9pm and were staying the night before flying out of shanghai. Location - they have airport transfer bus (hourly) so good to get to the airport (20 mins on bus) Otherwise i wouldn’t advise staying here for shanghai city centre. Price - £65 a night. Can’t complain for the quality Rooms - everything is electric. Curtains and even the net curtains! Rooms were nice although it does have that 1980/1990s feel to it because of the gadgets. Staff - wonderful especially Laura. Recommended as an airport hotel
We stayed at the hotel for one night because its location is close to the Shanghai Pudong Airport. We arrived after midnight, and requested a taxi at 5:30 am to go to the airport for a 8 am flight to Australia. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. We are non-smokers and react poorly to smoke and smoking odors. We were told the room was non-smoking, but the smoke odor in the room was suffocating, and we were too tired to complain at 1 am. We woke at 3 am and couldnt breathe or sleep, so we left our room at 4 am and waited outside until our taxi came at 5:30 am. The room had obviously been smoked in before, and the air conditioning was so poor, it was pulling smoke into the room from elsewhere. The room was clean, but unfortunately the air quality overrode any other good qualities about the room.
Great stay
We have returned to this hotel several times since it is close to Pudong airport. We were completely satisfied with our stay on this trip - we used it both on arrival and before our departure. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. We ate dinner in the restaurant and were pleased with our food.
I was double billed by them and you! I had to pay them as they didn't have my reservation for two nights that was paid in advance to you in the amount of 230$. I want a full refund as i had to pay them again by Visa for over 200$. What happened? I want to understand what went wrong on your end with this.
this hotel was beautiful and well decorated. clean, comfortable, and great attentive staff. the breakfast bar was wonderful and offered a variety of food. if you left hungry you didn't eat. the hotel was picture perfect and so comforting. I highly recommend.
Standard Room was ok. Comfortable bed. Fairly elegant decor in public areas. Breakfast buffet was typical and uninspired. Japanese restaurant in hotel was very good and reasonably priced.
Very good hotel, about 20mins from the airport, clean comfortable rooms with toiletries, lovely large reception, staff struggle with any English. Cuisine in the restaurant was the best we had while on our China tour - brilliant. Free airport transfers, would recommend.
We stayed for just one night as we had a very early flight from Pudong Airport. The room was very comfortable, great bed and bedding top of the line! The shuttle to the airport was free and took about 10-15 minutes. The staff was very accommodating, restaurants had food for any taste.
Nice rooms, delicious breakfast & friendly staff. Shower pressure quite low. Bed smells sometimes like someone before smoked in the room. And they switch off the air conditioning system just to save money.
Just an overnight layover. Note that the shuttle is reservation only and you cannot just hop on at regularly scheduled times.
Choice of hotels made by Sinorama was excellent! That is why my title was "another ..." This hotel is very close to the airport which is absolutely convenient for groups like ours. We had organized sightseeing departing from hotel and we could not care less about distances. At the end of each day we were happy to return to Royal International Hotel because we knew that there would be careful staff, impeccably clean rooms and good food waiting for us. If I ever return to Shanghai in private arrangement I'll choose this hotel again.
it is one of the most fancy rooms I have ever stayed. great experience. :) definitely will come back. the only concern is wifi. not that great.
Room air conditioning didn’t get colder and it was extremely hot outside and in. Asked them to repair but they didn’t change anything. Chinese restaurant expensive. Most breakfast food was cold.
This hotel is located in a local place near the airport. We went to the hotel by subway from the downtown area of Shanghai. It was about 10 or 15 minutes on foot from the subway station to the hotel. The view of the hotel is the atmosphere around 1980, but the room is clean. There was no inconvenience to enjoy sightseeing in Shanghai.
This hotel was a beauty. I purposely booked an airport hotel as I only wanted a short shuttle bus trip to the airport. I was stunned when I stepped into the lobby as it was absolutely ostentatious and I loved it. And the price for this hotel was excellent. The room was just as nice although Westerners aren't really used to the idea of a glass wall between the showering area and the sleeping area (although the central panel was frosted and you could add "frosting" to the panel on either side of the fully frosted area). The buffet breakfast offerings were fresh, varied and delicious. Having two breakfast coupons would be ideal if two people were booking and staying in the room as opposed as to only one coupon per room. But this is a small thing as the overall stay was excellent. And the staff were so pleasant and helpful to a foreigner. The hotel's opulence is in direct contrast with its surrounding area so don't get worried as you make your way from the closest train station.
good bed, clean room, free shuttlebus with 15 min to the airport. very very good hotel.
Possibly the best hotel I've stayed in in term of room features. Great value for money and close to Disney. Taxi costs roughly £4 each way. The area is a bit rural but nothing a taxi ride can't fix. Only stayed 2 nights so didn't make use of pool or spa.
15 Minute ride from Pudong A great place for a short layover instead of going into the city and only catching a few hours of sleep. Nice and easy place to get to. Welcome committee was very nice. Plenty of smiles and I believe that they were actually glad you came. Room was fine, air conditioning worked well, bed was ample and the shower was the size of a single room. Buffet breakfast was included. It offered many options that were tasty. The noodle soup bar had plenty to offer. Free shuttle to the airport in the morning. I have already booked to stay, during my layover the end of the month. Give it a shot
beautiful and modern with elegance . This was so much more than I expected
They have cancel our reservation without any reason! We arrived in the late evening and have to find annother hotel. We guaranted the reservation by credit card and the hotel canceld the reservation. Unbelievable!
Convenient to Pudong airport. CLean and comfortable.
Great location for Pu Dong airport. Lovely hotel, first impressions goods as easy to converse in English with front desk staff ( who put up with my poor attempt at Chinese with a smile.) Rooms very smart, modern and well equipped, with even electric powered curtains. Good plasma TV to watch the World Cup in the middle of the night. Hotel has a mix of restaurants, I ate at the western by the lobby which had good food at very reasonable cost. Large array of food available for the buffet breakfast. If you are flying out of Pu Dong, then there is an hourly free shuttle to Pu Dong airport, which you arrange with concierge. Transfer time was about 25 mins At 8am on a Friday morning. All ran very smoothly.
Executive lounge was not operative which was a big set back. Alternate arrangement was not made. No discount in price was offered due to a promised facility not available. Check in was extremely slow.
We stayed for 2 nights after our river cruise. The hotel was extremely far away from the city but close to the Pudong International Airport. The nearby metro station was quite far away too. It’s definitely not an ideal hotel for sightseeing purpose. The hotel itself was very nice but the surrounding area was a little run down. The hotel room was huge, well-furnished and clean. The bathroom tub even had a TV on the wall for you to enjoy! The setup of the entire room, including the curtain, the lighting was operated by remote control – had fun to find out how to operate everything!! Their buffet breakfast was not that impressive to me. However, they had four restaurants inside the hotel. We enjoyed our dinner at their Japanese restaurant very much.
For an international hotel no one could peak english which was not good at all. The area was horrific.
I stayed in this hotel for one night before my flight home to the US. The hotel is a ¾ mile (1.2km) walking distance from the Chuansha subway station. I walked from the train station to the hotel in mid-seventies degree weather and it was an even and an easy walk with no hills through a middle class neighborhood with many garage-style shops. The hotel with its luxurious exterior (and interior) does not really fit into this middle class neighborhood. Across the street from the hotel is a supermarket; there are also many small grocery and other stores around and even a barber and car wash. About 50ft from the supermarket is a restaurant with real authentic food (I had Shanghai style duck..and yes, the head was served with it). There was one person who spoke a little English, so ordering what I wanted was no big deal. As mentioned the hotel has a very luxurious appearance, with a large animated water fountain in front and a gigantic marble lobby. The staff spoke fairly good English. The luxurious room had a king size comfortable bed, many switches for light, blinds, etc., a desk, TV and large marble walled bathroom with a shower and a separate bath tub. Interestingly, there was a small TV above the bath tub. The shower has an overhead rain shower head and good water pressure and, unlike in several other hotels, you don’t floor part of the bathroom when you take a shower. The A/C was quiet and efficient. The furniture showed basically no signs of wear. Breakfast was buffet style and included in the room rate. The buffet had a large selection as usual in this type of hotels (US continental, Chinese, bread, fruit, cake) and different drinks (coffee, tea, fruit drinks, milk). I had booked the free shuttle to the Pudong airport (do that at check-in time). It was Sunday morning and it took about 15min to get to Terminal 2. I was told that, normally it takes between 20-30min, depending on traffic. Long story short: This is a very nice hotel and, considering the low price, I totally recommend it and would definitely stay there again.
The location is excellent for pudong airport but the taxi drivers do need the name of the hotel in Chinese to locate it. The hotel is well appointed and good shower. The only downside is the poor communication at the front desk resulting my being told that the shuttle bus to airport was at 8am but no bus appeared and i had to get a taxi in a hurry.
We booked for two adults. The breakfast was supposed to be included in the package. Included was only for one person and they charged us $25 per day. $25 breakfast was even expensive in the US. We ended up paying additional US$100 for four nights stay. We should have stayed at different hotel.
Terrible service in front desk. The manager and staffs are not professional at all and have bad attitude. My room was booked with breakfast in Expedia, but they do not honor my breakfast, even ask me to contact Expdia for breakfast when I was in shanghai , it means I need to make a international long distance call for my breakfast. Ridiculous
The hotel staff was excellent! The front desk assisted when we first arrived and were having issues with our taxi driver. The room was huge! All around a great experience!
Very comfortable and spacious room. Bed was nice. Location is not the best.
The hotel was quite close to Pudong airport, which was convenient for an overnight transit stay. There’s a shopping mall close by with restaurants on the top floor, so there are a lot of choices. Our room had a great view and very nice, except for the fact that the a/c could only be adjusted by a few degrees. All hotels in China invariably provide a heavy blanket, so it’s difficult to get a good night’s sleep without waking up in the middle of the night to either kick off the blanket or cover yourself again after cooling off for a bit. Same with this hotel. Breakfast was included but nothing exceptional. Service was not up to par, but we are not complaining. This hotel seems to be quite popular with guests from western countries.
Very nice hotel for the price.
Great hotel close to the airport. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. We had lunch in the 2nd floor restaurant and the food was excellent.
We arrived early evening and were only staying for one night in-between flights. Hotel is very clean, all the mod cons, helpful friendly staff. The area surrounding the hotel is a bit run down which is why I would give it 4 stars instead of 5, wouldn't have felt safe walking around at night. But the hotel staff inside we lovely and friendly. For some reason you only get one breakfast included in your booking even if there are two of you staying - bit weird, so you have to pay for another if you both want to eat. Gym and Pool aren't 24 hours so we didn't get a chance to look at them.
Nice clean hotel with great staff. Great place to put your feet up at the end of a busy day
Great hotel, excellent rooms, great breakfast, can’t fault the hotel, just the location is quite far out from shanghai but that’s my fault for not looking into it properly. The hotel is like a jewel amongst rocks in the area. Happy with my stay though and it’s only 10-15 min walk from metro if needed.
Very short overnight stay, but everything in and about the hotel was great - staff, room cleanliness and size, bathroom, restaurants. Happy to recommend
Very clean and modern close to airport for shanghai. Taxi was 46 yuan with three bags two carryons car seat and stroller three people. Many tried to coerce us to use their van service for $400 yuan. Many small restaurants near hotel at chinese prices. Very modern . No complaints. Free shuttle back to airport. Seems like no hotels will pick u up at airport.
The Price is Right! beautiful hotel! staff is nice! I felt like I was at home being taken care of, in a Five Star hotel! Beautiful experience
Hotel is quite a way from the city so need to get taxi, if trying tio get from central Shanghai number of taxi drivers refused to travel that far or tried to haggle over price! Hotel is said to be child friendly which we wanted as main reason for choosing was proximity to Disney. However, the rooms are not child friendly, we saw only one other child staying, rest were tour groups and business men. There is also a KTV bar on ground floor complex which is a bit intimidating if coming back at night with children. Room was clean but air con was useless, unless you are looking to sleep in sauna. Hotel was meant to be smoke free, but guests were smoking on our floor. Finally, our advice, if you do stay don't try and get resort tickets from hotel concierge!
I spent a night in this hotel to catch a flight the next day. The room is very clean and spacious, bed is comfortable. There is a good selection for the breakfast and the free shuttle bus to the airport is punctual and convinient. Overall experience was great however if you want to visit the city, it is too far from the city centre.
We did not realize we should reserve the shuttle a day in advance so we had to hussle for a cab. Driver did not speak any English but accepted 20$. Hotel staff were very helpful once we found someone who spoke good English. Nice little lounge for a drink. Would definitely stay there again now that I understand the rules
Overall good, would be good to have a shuttle to get to downtown as it is a little bit far from the subway station (15 minutes walk) and subway service from downtown to Chuan Sha station is not available after ten o'clock pm.
Not come back again
Hotel is a luxury hotel with a few quirks. Buffet was better than typical, room very nice, roomy.
One night stay for transit: this hotel is about 20 min drive from T2 Pudong airport. Nice clean hotel with spacious bathroom and good shower. Breakfast and airport shuttle included. However the shuttle only runs to 9 pm and need to book 24 hrs in advance. Smoking smells in the hotel.
Super Hotel with nice people.
Toilet is dirty.
Clean, modern, very well appointed rooms with full-size bath. 20 minutes drive from the airport.
Extremely fast and easy check in. Shuttle bus only went to Disneyland twice a day and we had already missed it. Part of the reason for stay, ah well, what can you do. Breakfast was just okay, nothing special. The area had some things to do approximately 1km down the road.
nice service great staff . A+
A good hotel, ideally located for PVG airport. Although a bit out from the city. The rooms are very comfortable, although the various switches scattered around the room can take some figuring out.
I was pleased with the hotel. The room was beautiful and they had excellent food in the restaurant. I was a little concerned by the neighborhood as I was taken by taxi, but was very pleased when I got to the hotel.
Excellent. Very good amenities. I would recommend to all travellers
Amazingly good hotel. Only disappointment is breakfast not being included, which is customary for hotels in China. Otherwise, great place to stay if you miss your flight.
