The location near the lake, the cleanliness, the courteous and helpful manner of the staff, excellent facilities and activities provided for families/children. Also loved the breakfast buffet, everything was nicely provided.

The wait for the buggy to come and pick us up on time could have been better as its a long way up to walk to our room everytime. The buffet for lunch and dinner was expensive compared to other 5 star hotels there.

Everything is comfortable here. Rooms are very good and my children's are very enjoyable Special mention mrs Saranya she is very friendly with my kids

Nothing to like very bad service

This is one of the worst properties I have stayed at. There is no parking facility within the property. Guests are asked to park their vehicles about 500 meters away, and there is no valet service, which is highly inconvenient. The extra bed provided was just a mattress placed on the floor. Only after repeatedly raising the issue was a proper cot arranged.

Pathetic food and rooms very were average - I checked out within an hour of checkin in. The general manager promised me refund but never processed it!

Extremely slow room service and delayed response to guest requests. * Reception was consistently busy, making it difficult to get timely assistance. * Room key cards repeatedly stopped working. * Premium Room was missing basic amenities (slippers and hair dryer) until we repeatedly requested them. * Hot water was unreliable and took an unreasonably long time to become available. * Restaurant service was very slow, with excessive waiting times. * Food was significantly overpriced considering the quality of service. * The overall experience was so disappointing that we decided to check out one day earlier than planned. * Even after completing checkout and paying the final bill prepared by your staff, we received repeated calls to pay a missed tour charge because your team failed to include it in the final invoice. * This reflects poor operational management and left us with a negative impression even after leaving the property.

cleanliness of the rooms was bad. One of the rooms smelled really bad - like sewer. in fact the area around that room also smelled bad. When asked to change the room,, they said they will get back, but never got back On top of it, we found cockroach in food one day. The staff apologized to us a lot about this issue and even refunded one of our meals, but it reflected an overall lack of hygiene

1. Service and staff are excellent 2. Breakfast is great 3. The room with the separate hall is good with all the facilities. Toiletries are great. Suggest to opt for a room with a balcony for better time spent and viewing. Buggy is available for elderly commuting. 4. The facility is very well maintained esp garden and viewing chairs and swings. 5. Wi-Fi -- digital detox by default!!! And only cable feed!!!

Location. (a) Though the name says 'lake', access to it is quite cumbersome. The property is in a secluded place and it's time consuming main points around the lake or downtown esp between 9.30 AM to 8 PM. (b) Suggest to use the car to get to the lake as the lake circuit is one-way and access to main places is quite a distance. (c) Most of the time you encounter very bad traffic jams around the lake and exit might take a lot of time. Note there is no other way than to use the lake circuit to reach any other point around the lake or downtown.

The only positive aspect of Sterling Lake View Kodaikanal is its location. It is conveniently situated close to the lake, which makes it easily accessible and offers good views.

The rooms are very gloomy and poorly maintained. The floor was extremely slippery, and instead of fixing the issue, the management simply placed a “floor is slippery due to weather conditions” sign which is not an acceptable solution for guest safety. Overall room upkeep is poor despite the property looking decent from the outside. The main restaurant is equally disappointing ,dark, gloomy, and not clean. The atmosphere is so uninviting that you wouldn’t feel like eating there. The buffet is very limited with hardly any options, and the taste feels average at best,it seems more like a formality to call it a “buffet” rather than offering a proper dining experience. The staff is laid-back and appears uninterested in hosting guests, which creates a negative and unwelcoming atmosphere throughout the stay.

Property is an old one, you can't expect much. Average rooms and bathrooms, not luxury. We stayed there in the April, obviously it is hot season. We stayed at the hotel in the morning, and it was too hot in the rooms. There were no AC or fans (Kodiakanal usually not have). Next worst thing was their food. They had a huge menu for buffet, but none on the food stuff was up to the expectation. Noting except Idly tasted good. If you are looking for a healthy breakfast, with a lot of protein (tasty too), this is not your place.

I strongly caution fellow travelers against being misled by polished photographs and biased reviews. Our recent two-night family stay was a massive disappointment and fell dangerously short of the 5-star standards this property claims to uphold. Safety & Security: This was our greatest concern. The room felt entirely insecure; the safety chain on the door was broken, the privacy cap on the peephole was missing, and the door bolt itself was missing several screws. For a high-end hotel, such neglect regarding guest security is completely unacceptable. Room Condition & Hygiene: The accommodations were "3rd-grade" at best. Everything felt grimy and stained. The bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows had a noticeable, unpleasant odor. To make matters worse, basic amenities were lacking—they couldn't even provide a simple bottle of sealed drinking water. Facilities & Service: The shower had almost no water pressure. We reported this to the reception immediately, but our complaint was ignored and nothing was resolved during our stay. The phone in the room also stopped working on the second day for that the management said it's a cable issue which was not resolved till I checkout.While the breakfast was decent, the options were very limited and certainly didn't make up for the poor living conditions. Verdict: A "5-star" label should imply a certain level of care, luxury, and—most importantly—safety. This property provided none of the above. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those traveling with family.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The property feels more than 30 years old, and unfortunately, it shows everywhere. The beds, bathroom fittings, flooring, bedsheets, and curtains are all extremely outdated and have a noticeable stale, unpleasant smell. The corridors are very narrow, adding to the overall uncomfortable feel of the place. What’s even more frustrating is the pricing. The hotel charges nearly four times more than a normal hotel in Kodaikanal, yet the facilities and overall experience are no better—if not worse—than a basic hotel.

Staffs in reception were not at all explaining the details about amenities and WiFi setups clearly. There was foul smell in the room coming from outside and the bathroom washbasin drain was blocked when we checked in. Also the cleanliness was not up to the mark as the bathroom floors were wet and mirrors were not clean. We felt the room was not value for money as we noticed the rooms were way too old than the ones shared in the pictures and because of all the above reasons.

The location was great with the legacy of Sterling it remain even with the old buildings, Old furniture and amenities. The SLATE nd PEARL cafe was very very good and the cocktails were exceptional. The food was very good but the menu was repeated. The property is maintained very well.
