Provider-sourced guest reviews.
We were placed in the “bridal suite” and it was cute with privacy. Bed was comfy and the heated floors in the bathroom were nice. Only bummer was the hot tub wasn’t operating. Breakfast was good and we even saw the northern lights. Would recommend!
Great location with amazing views, very helpful friendly staff, stellar food and drink options
Great location, very helpful staff, a gem of a place
Weather was great . Check in people were friendly . Showed up late and someone was on shift to check us in .
We arrived late afternoon, and the room keys were in envelopes with the guest name written on it in a box just inside the entrance of the building. The buildings are traditional and pretty, but old..... We stayed in room 204 in the long wooden building by the water's edge ~ it's an old building, so floors creak a lot. Our room was average, nothing fancy and had a nice view overlooking the water. However, there seemed to be no basic maintenance (power outlets hanging out of the walls, bed lamp missing cords thus not working) It's a pity since the rooms have charm & character, if it is just maintained. Breakfast was pretty decent with a wide selection of food typical of European style. It is also served on the lower deck which is right on the water and if one is lucky some nice sunrise photos can be taken. The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful.
Super sweet place to stay to be close to the airport for travelling home. The staff were really helpful and the location on the water was stunning.
Lattiat hieman natisivat, mutta muuten kaikki toimi hyvin. Ihana, kalastajakylämainen tunnelma. Upeat näkymät huoneesta ja aamupalalta. Aamupalan valikoimat eivät olleet kovin suuret, mutta sitäkin maistuvammat.
The hotel is very unique. Old style. We liked it. We got a very spacious and nice room on the main building ground floor. As I saw in the reviews, it is true that there is noise from the upper floor since the floor is old wooden floor. You may hear every single step in the ceiling. We did not find that as a problem though. Our only comment is that our room has no real shower. It has a bath tub with a hose, period. Very uncomfortable to bath. Apart from that, the hotel is out of the ordinary, very nice and close to the airport.
Full of charme
Price was steep for a youth hostel experience. This was not what I was expecting. Our “Junior Suite” was basically a large unfurnished room with a bed in it and a dungeon for a bathroom (no windows) with poor modern fittings. I thought curtains had to meet in the middle and block out the light. This would have been useful to block out the midnight sun. Outside door handle snapped off and staff had to do a temporary fix so that we could shut and lock the door. On the positive side the staff were friendly and helpful. The evening buffet meal was fine and so was the breakfast.
Come on Best Western you can do better than this, it is a glorified youth hostel. No negative comments about the staff who were friendly and helpful. They provided quality buffet meal in the evening and a good breakfast in the morning. But really the room was in the main house. The walls are so thin you could everything in the next room. The bath leaked and there was a big pool of water on the bathroom floor. None of the electric sockets worked at all and I mean none. The staff were apologetic and I don’t blame them.
This place is the highlight of my Lofoten trip. The hotel is Classic, preserving its old ambiance but with modern amenities. The sauna is a good addition. I am surprised that at such a remote place, they are able to find young and cheerful workers to take care of customers from all over the world. The staff is super friendly and the guests are very international; they are the best part of the experience.
Original, bien décoré. Tout y est! Le cadre est magnifique. Je recommande.
Beautiful location by the sea. The room was clean and had a charming vintage/rustic design, which we loved. Before our arrival, we were given all the necessary information about our stay, as there was no staff on-site after a certain time during our visit. There was a microwave, a kettle, cutlery, and plates available, so we could easily make tea, coffee, or enjoy a small meal. We could also pre-order tapas if we wanted. Overall it was a very relaxing stay.
Comodini piccolissimi e disagevoli.
Für eine Nacht ok
What a quaint spot! We loved our stay here, it felt authentic and small but was clean and modern in terms of amenities available. Best nights sleep I had on my trip and breakfast in the morning was delicious! There wasn’t dinner service on our stay due to staffing but we knew ahead of time and picked up some grocery items to have out on the patio tables by the water. Then walked among the small beaches. Just a lovely experience!! Stay here if you’re making your way from Tromso to the lofotens!
This structure is in very bad maintenance conditions. Bed of the "executive suite" is ridicously small and noisy. Prices are way to high for such a poor quality.
Sandtorgholmen is a beautiful place to stay with several hundres of years of history. We were lucky to stay in the main house where both interior with furnitures and the exterior shows the upper class history of the former trading place. We would hope for a better menu for dinner next time.
One of the greatest hotel experiences I have ever had. The staff is amazingly friendly and professional and the support and service was a top notch!
We stayed here for 1 night and loved it! It's a super unique and historic place in a beautiful location. If you're looking for a more out of the box hotel experience, this might not be a fit for you. But we loved it!
Such a cute place, with a lot of history. We arrived late on a cold rainy day in June and it felt so cozy and warm. Having dinner there is definitely a must and part of the experience. It is very well-priced and includes a very 'homely' 3 course meal with water and coffee in a lovely little restaurant with views over the fjord.
Room comfort clean so chic
Meget hyggelig hotell ved vannkanten. Fint rom med god seng. Utsikt til fjorden. God mat og hyggelig betjening. Kommer gjerne tilbake hit
Not the best western standard we are used to.
Very cosy hotel, comfortable beds, Gabriel is very friendly and an exzellent cook. The fish soup is very tasty! Thanks for the service
So very disappointed we arrived late had been travelling since 4am quick check in then to dinner we had advised of our late arrival and booked dinner, it was basic tasty not sure what it was as nothing to say one of our party gluten intolerant, there was rice and salad bits so ok, quick drink after dinner then off to rooms, friends were in a cabin/shed on water front a junior suite also, we were in room 302 in main house supposedly a junior suite! They had to trudge through deep snow as no path cleared to door we were up steps and to the right to a separate couple of doors then our room not at all what we had expected tired so went straight to bed, no drink facilities no sockets near bed no luggage rack/drawers/wardrobe just an old sofa not sofa bed and a couple of bed stands no headboard no mat for wiping boots or rug just cold lino floor/cold apart from bathroom floor/wall panelling spilling apart don’t think room had seen a paint brush for 10+years. On waking in the morning after a chilly night waking often no extra pillow or blankets available, warm bath needed 6.30am no plug for bath or basin so showered hair over bath and made do, at breakfast asked for different rooms, friend room smelt shower was mouldy and really cold in bathroom, bed was hard to get in and out of as like a cot bed, no sofa decor very tired, female on reception was very nice however said they were full and couldn’t offer us other rooms, so said we’d arrange elsewhere and left her to speak the manager re a refund, we went to pack sort different accommodation came to check out, after speaking with her manager on the phone they could change our room by moving someone else I explained we’d already packed and booked/paid for elsewhere as she’d told me no joy earlier, then spoke to manager on phone he explained I should of got dressed and walked through the snow to the restaurant/reception at 10pm and 6.30am to get teas and coffee and plugs (even though staff said they wouldn’t be open for breakfast until 7am) didn’t get my point that the rooms should of had these items in place, I then asked about the other facilities on our confirmation which we hadn’t had he explained the “suite” part for us was the other ground floor rooms in the house, these were open to all and not what I would say was a private suite, our friends had no other room so not sure what their “suite” was, eventually he agreed to refund our dinner as we’d had such a poor experience however refused to refund the 2nd night we’d booked even though we’d been told to get somewhere else as they couldn’t re room us, he didnt accept responsibility for this, there was no reasoning even though I showed him our confirmation of what we should been staying in, so so disappointed as I’d been looking forward to staying here the most after seeing the pics and reading other reviews. We feel they’d given our rooms to others as thought we weren’t coming then just given us the keys for rooms that had been closed all winter we went onto stay in the Scandic hotels in Svolvaer & Sortland which were exceptional just stunning couldn’t find a fault. Just such a shame the owners/management at Sandtorgholem don’t realise just what they have it could of been amazing, such a beautiful setting with so much potential.
This beach hotel is excellent. Peter of Sandtorgholmen helped us find northern lights on the first night. Hotel staff helped our luggages up to the second floor. Highly recommend to stay overnight for northern light chasing.
Oh my Lordy , we have been on holiday for 5 weeks and this by far was the most beautiful place to stay . Staff were excellent and super friendly and helpful even offering to turn off the lights in the restaurant when the northern lights came over . We stayed in a beautiful old part of the hotel which was spectacular . Would definitely stay again . Dinner and breakfast were both beautiful and the manager the next morning went out of his way to give us some amazing travel tips for heading on . The best place we got to see the aurora
Restaurant review mainly. Hotel is lovely. Great interesting historic old building and very comfortable bed. Good bathroom. Lovely friendly staff. We really liked our brief one night stopover here. However we had dinner and it was very strange. Was supposed to be a buffet but there were so few guests that they made it table service instead. This meant that - as usual in a restaurant - you get the quantity they give you rather than your own choice helping yourself. They gave us enormous helpings which we couldn’t eat. There was first a massive prawn, feta and sundried tomato salad, with bread. So far so good but we ate about 1/3 of it. Next came our choice of Lasagne and Bacalao. Lasagne was huge, twice the size we expected and stodgy with a very odd but bland flavour. It would have been nicer with the leftover salad but that had been removed and presumably thrown away? Other choice was Bacalao which is supposed to be very flavourful with garlic and chilli was also very bland and the cod was in very small chewy pieces. So it was a dish of vaguely fishy tomatoes really. These two dishes were accompanied by a bowl of curry flavoured quinoa and vegetables, which did not “go” with either dish. It was a challenge and we could not finish any of it. Lastly we were brought two little puddings which were like fruit cheesecake and were normal sized. For such a huge amount of food it was not expensive working out at (the set price of) about £21 each - very cheap for Norway - but the food waste was a lot and the flavours bizarre. This may be just us. Others have commented the food is delicious which is why we booked to eat there. Food opinions are highly subjective.
For what we needed...a half way stop in our driving...this hotel sufficed. The staff is very helpful. The dinner and breakfast buffets are nice. The rooms are basic.
Decent rooms in an old renovated building right by the water. A few squeaky floorboards but what do you expect. Owner and staff are amazing hosts and offer dinner and breakfast options (note - little other choice in the area) Just a 30 min drive to EVE airport.
We stopped for one night at Sandtorgholmen before taking our flight from Narvik airport (half an hour away by car). We tried their "glamping experience" : two large tents for the five of us, set right by the seaside, cumfortably fitted with real beds, armchairs, lighting and even a heater and electric plugs. It was overall a great experience for children and adults. We also tried the little sauna cabin right beside the tents. There were a few minor drawbacks though, that may upset some more than others : though we could use the main building's toilets 20 meters away, the showers were much further away. Also the tents let in daylight (which comes before 4am even end of August), and there are large boats passing by, great to watch but not if they wake you up at 3am. Fortunately the hotel provides masks and earplugs... We also had buffet diner and breakfast, nothing to rave about but prices were reasonable for Norway, and overall the value is very good. Service was nice, though a bit sloppy at times.
Beautiful location. Great food, service and sauna!
We arrived hungry and the best dinner buffer was served. Room had a magnifevent view. Walks and a dip in the sea from a white beach. Fishing with gear from the hotel. Beautiful and friendly place!
Majoitus paikkana loistava. Puitteet, maisemat ja henkilökunta erinomaista. Illallinen pettymys, ruoassa vähän makua, ulkonäkö ei varsinaosesti houkuttanut varsinkaan lasta. Nälkä kyllä lähti.
We had been fortunate to pass this lovely hotel in its superb waterside location a couple of times over the years, whilst working on the cruise ships and I always thought that it looked a great place to stay. Finally we were up in the Nordland for a Lofoten area holiday and we booked a nice room in the Pakkhuset building of the Sandtorgholmen hotel, after email discussion with the team. Location is just under 30 mins easy drive from the airport on route to/from Lofoten or points North & West, and is recommended as a unique and characterful place to stay. Lots of history in this former coastal trading station and there is plenty to look at around the buildings and immediate area. The staff were friendly, welcoming and good to deal with throughout, led by the good management of Petter. The room was clean with great views over the nearby hills & mountains, the Tjeldsundet and its close passing shipping. An efficient shower, amenities and facilities with a comfortable bed. We slept well. Breakfast is included and dinner (a well priced extra) is served within the attractively decorated and interestingly sloping dining area, which has a well stocked bar and comfortable inside & outside deck seating with great views. We enjoyed the beer and wine available. Buffet breakfast and dinner, very adequate choice, tasty and well prepared. Friendly, efficient and pleasant service from the team who are very visible. Somewhere very unique to stay and we liked the history, displayed artefacts and quirkiness of the buildings. Lovely location, clean and comfortable with nice staff. Well Done to you all. Thoroughly recommended.
Absolutely amazing hotel - perfect stop off from Narvik airport. Friendly, very accommodating staff (we were running late for dinner!) and beautiful traditional buildings. The room was a little in need of attention, but perfectly adequate for a short stop, and the setting and history of the place made it well worth a visit. Breakfast was good, as was evening meal.
I stayed one night before my flight the next day. The hotel is comfortable. A very authentic Norwegian experience. Beautiful location on the ocean.
Flott sted!
Great location and wonderful owner. Great Norwegian home cooking with fish caught by chef the day before!
Staff cordiale.
Beautiful location on the water. Very quiet and peaceful. Friendly staff. Great food.
Rauhallinen mukava hotelli, ilmanvaihdon puuttuminen huoneesta ja aamupalan suppea valikoima miinnuksena.
Historisk og tradisjonsrikt sted. Fint restaurert. Nydelig fiskemiddag
Lovely independent hotel, overlooking the fjord. Beautiful location. Very nice couple greeted me, and could not do enough to make me feel welcome and at home. Would definitely stay there again if in the area for a few days.
its a bit basic but an amazing setting.
Clearly run by people who care deeply and make you feel welcome and at home. It's a good place to stay if you're flying out of Evenes airport, otherwise the area does not have much to attract it, although the hotel itself has some spectacular views.
The room was nothing like the internet photos. Maintenance needed to repair bathroom shower doors which didn't close properly thus floor flooded. Bedroom curtains didn't block out sunshine at all for sleeping. We booked a double room with sofa bed. No sofa bed and room was cramped with hardly anywhere to put cases. The TV didn't work and we couldn't get WiFi. Our room was changed for us but there were no tea making facilities in either of the rooms. The cost of our room was far too high for such a poor standard.
Personalen lyfter hotellet
An absolutely wonderful location with very involved owners. A place for a quiet getaway with the feeling of an upscale B&B. Would I go back again? Absolutely. Rural Norway at its best. The view was fantastic along a deep fjord.. A 30 minute drive from Evenes Airport... A perfect getaway
Wonderful hostess who opened for breakfast early just to accommodate us. Views were spectacular. Early August so we opened windows without too much shipping and nature noise. Would go back and stay many more times.
This is a lovely place to stay. It was off season so not much activity or guests but that's what I expected. I had the dining room to myself (the only other guests arrived after I had finished dinner. The location is good to catch a flight out of Evenes Airport. The room was comfortable and the view spectacular. I would stay there again and recommend it to others.
We traveled 30 hours and were very tired looking forward to our visit to the Lofoten Islands. This was a great place t start and just close enough to the Harstad (EVE) airport. The staff was very friendly the the restaurant food was excellent. We stayed at the beginning as well as the end of our trip into the islands.
