Balito apartments

We visited Balito with a family of 7 and had the most wonderful stay. The hotel is small but updated and it is run by a wonderful family who makes you feel at home. The pool area is lovely and the breakfast and coffee is perfect in the morning. The rooms were good for our large family (we had two rooms with 3 beds each) and the area is very walkable. It’s about a 14 min walk to the beach (with my slower children) and a 10 min taxi into Chania. There is also a bus to take you to town and some of the other beaches that stops nearby but we didn’t do it because of elders in our group. There is a taverna around the corner that was amazing. Overall I highly recommend this hotel and will be back again if we return to Crete.

We had a fantastic stay, in July. What a pleasure, everything was exquisite. The rooms were spotless, the staff excellent, the pool was sparkling. I would rate this hotel as 100%

How anyone could not like this is beyond me. Unless you are actually looking for loud music and foam parties, this is great, a reasonably priced relatively modern property in a great location with its own bar serving food and drink and its own swimming pool, with fabulous sea views on a bus route, yards from a traditional village with its own restaurants, bakery, coffee kiosk. Supermarkets are just short stroll away. George is a very accommodating host easy to get on with and very helpful and informative.

What brings life to this hotel is the owner with his hospitality.

Great property. Apartments very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We had a beautiful sea view on 2nd floor. Kitchenette basic but adequate for cooking breakfast. Good shower in bathroom. Lovely pool. There is a pool bar. George the owner and his family and staff were very friendly and gave lots of information about Crete. It is about a 12 minute walk down the hill to the nearest beach Kalamaki. We didn't like this beach as it was by a busy road so we carried on walking another 20 mins to Apostoli beach which is fabulous with a great beach bar. Completely recommend this accommodation but bear in mind the distance to beaches, if you don't like to walk far you need to hire a car. Or there is a bus stop right outside the apartment you could use.

Lovely apartment on 2nd floor with sea view from window and balcony. Very clean. Free air con and safe. Kitchen facilities basic but adequate for cooking breakfast, there was a kettle fridge, 2 cooking rings and a microwave. Good shower in bathroom. Bed was a little hard. Lovely pool and there was a pool bar. Balito is in a very quiet area. 2 traditional restaurants just up the road in the village and a couple of supermarkets and a bakery. There is a bus stop right outside the apartment which goes to Chania and the beaches. You can walk from the apartment to Kalamaki beach in about 12 minutes but it is by a busy road, there are lots of restaurants and bars here. We preferred to go to the beach at Apostoli which was beautiful and had a fabulous beach bar. There are also some lovely restaurants and bars here. Really recommend this area and apartment.

Me and my uncle stayed 2 weeks at Balito Apartments and it was wonderful! The staff were really friendly and helpful. We got amazing recommendatiations from the staff to go to the beach and find good restaurants. We arrived at night and everything were arranged so that it was easy to come at night time too when everyone was sleeping. Rooms were good and cleaned, nothing special, but it had everything we needed. The pool was amazing and clean. Very peaceful place and on good location, not so far away. You can easily go down to the beach. I really recommend this place. Everything was good and the staff was just so amazing, it felt like home. Definitely going again!

Posizione molto comoda. Siamo stati davvero bene nonostante non si tratti di un hotel sfarzoso. La piscina è molto carina e pulita, il personale è gentile e disponibile. Oltre ai posti auto di fronte all’entrata si trova facilmente parcheggio sulla via.

Con la mia famiglia (2 3) abbiamo passato un ottimo soggiorno di 14gg in questo appartamento al secondo piano. Sebbene il cucinotto non sia fornitissimo per cui risultava difficile cucinare per tutta la famiglia, abbiamo apprezzato molto l'ampio terrazzo che usavamo per colazioni e cene take away. Il personale e' super cordiale e sempre pronto a darti suggerimenti e aiuto. La bella piscina e' davvero un plus che permette di rilassarsi dopo giornate "faticose" al mare. Simpatici gatti (che amiamo molto) sono frequentatori dell'hotel. La macchina e' necessaria per muoversi ed il parcheggio non e' un problema. Nelle vicinanze immediate Elia una taverna tipica consigliataci da George dove si mangia bene senza spendere una fortuna.

Bra personal och fint hotell.

Pros: Excellent location, close to Chania town and many markets close by. Nice size swimming pool, good size apartment with a small kitchenette. Price is reasonable for what you get. Cons: Overall cleanliness can be improved, one of the matresses was very uncomfortable, I booked a Seaview Apartment, we did get a seaview but on a lower floor, our view was blocked by trees. Overall happy with my experience but would wanna try somewhere else next time.

Ottimo hotel per rapporto qualità prezzo. Posto tranquillo e ottimo per visitare zona Chania. Struttura pulita e personale cordiale, molto piacevole la piscina. Unica nota negativa, ma credo sia normale in zona sopratutto al piano terra, una sera tornati in camera ci siamo trovati 4 blatte in camera

La posizione della struttura è ottima per gli spostamenti verso Chania e ovest ove sono le spiagge più belle. Ci è stata data una stanza al piano terra con spazio a sufficienza per tre persone ma con umidità...

Excellent apartment, the guy at the bar called Jorge is very friendly, helping me with everything I need, I have never been treated like this anywhere else, I definitely recommend it, we will definitely back , 5 starts in this place :)

Strongly recommend hotel Balito! The owners are really nice and welcoming. We asked a lot about recommendations on what to do in Chania and some help with taxi and our car that we rented, and they were really helpful! The hotel is not so far from the beach, and parking with car is good outside the hotel. I really loved the vibe of the hotel! It’s very welcoming, but also very calm and informal. If I ever come back to Chania I will 100% stay here again!

In addition to the comfortable rooms and friendly staff, we also enjoyed the great amenities at Hotel Balitol, including a nice kids' pool and an adult pool. The hotel's location was perfect, with the beach just a short walk away and a bus station right next to the hotel. It was convenient to have Chania city center only about 5km away, making it easy for us to explore and enjoy the local attractions. We also want to mention the lovely owner of Hotel Balitol, who made our stay even more special. Their warm hospitality and personal touch added to the overall charm of the hotel. It was clear that they genuinely cared about their guests and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. We truly appreciated their kindness and attention to detail. Thank you to the owner and the entire staff at Hotel Balitol for a fantastic week. We hope to visit again soon!❤️

Very nice location, and perfect to explore the eastern part of Crete with its beautiful beaches, we hired a car. Apartments are comfortable and clean. George is a very nice, easygoing and helpful! The swimming pool that can be used day and night is really relaxed and refreshing. Balito was the perfect accommodation for us, thanks!

Our family stayed at Balito hotel for one week in july 23. Although the hotel is a bit outside the mainstream tourism,  we can strongly recommend this place. It's quiet surroundings, but not far to Chania (bus leaves just outside the hotel every hour ) and its easy to reach a bus from Kalamaki to Platanias (about 15 min. walk from the hotel.) The service and the flexibility among the employers are very accommodating. The owner George was very helpfull, polite and took very good care of us. Our apartment in the second floor gave us spectacular view to both the sea and the mountains. The big balcony gave the family a lot of extra space. There is a pool area at the hotel which can be used at all times. It's about 800 meters down to the Beach, restaurants, and shops. There is also a very good local restaurant called Elia just 300 meters from the hotel. The bathroom is recently refresheed. There is a fridge and some kitchen equipment, but it is not designed for a propper meal. The hotel offers also breakfast for an extra charge. Summary: For a very reasonable price we had a very nice stay with good service, great hospitality and good faciilities.

We needed a place close to (20 minute drive) chania centre and this was perfect for our week long stay. The owner was really nice and helpful and provided his mobile number to contact if any info was needed. His recommended restaurant was our favorite in our stay. The room (studio apartment with a double bed) was a good size with good facilities like microwave, small stove top and a fridge. It had a balcony and was cleaned daily. No complaints at all. Good value.

We had a perfect relaxing holiday here in Balito hotel and Galatas area! Location is nice and quiet, but there is couple of good restaurants and minimarkets nearby and the beach is about 10 minutes walk away. Hotel has good rooms and pool area and the owner is extremely helpfull and nice! We will definitely return!

Solo female traveler/nomad here (PL/USA) It had a gear price and was only 3 min drive from the beach with a lot of parking space, so if you rent a car that's a big plus. George, the owner/manager was a superb host, quick to respond to all questions and requests... also great cook! He was always somewhere around the property and when I texted him (WhatsApp) he appeared within few minutes, always polite and in good spirit. I had a nice, clean and comfortable room with the ocean view from my balcony with daily cleaning service. Overall, great experience!

George is an excellent host nothing too much of a problem, kids loved the pool, room clean and tidy, excellent breakfast we loved the fresh orange juice and Greek yogurt with muesli. Really nice accessible beach with beach restaurant, hope to visit again.

Balito's is a very clean and quiet place. We will definitely visit again when next in Chania. George is a lovely host, very friendly and happy to help. The rooms are of good size and they have everything you need for self catering. We had a lovely view and loved every single moment we spent in the pool when not driving around Chania. There is a perfect local tavern five minutes walk from the hotel.

Veldig hyggelig leilighetsanlegg med serviceinnstilte medarbeidere som gjorde alt for at vi skulle ha det bra. De var hjelpsomme til å finne svar på våre spørsmål og behjelpelig med alt fra å bestille taxi til manikyr. En kveld i uken ble det arrangert felles grillkveld for alle gjestene med nydelig mat. Vi hadde stort sett bassenget for oss selv på dagtid da de fleste dro på stranden. Anbefales!

We were both alarmed and upset after we were subject to a very serious verbal attack by a member of the owner/ management team which was both untrue and hugely unprofessional. It left us with no option other than to leave the premises and cut short our stay. Our message to the owners of this hotel is: ‘Please turn your anger and frustration regarding the stray animal situation in your country towards the Mayor/Dimos (ie. local authorities) and NOT YOUR GUESTS! Unforgivable.

There were some out of control hiccups here and there (AC remote control ran out of battery, insect got in the room) at the start of our stay but they were very responsive to fix them. Full breakfast is highly recommended.

Very friendly staff at the restaurant, they helped me with everything that I asked and was extremely kind. The food was also good and breakfast cheap. The rooms were ok but nothing special, clean and perfect for a solo traveller like me who isnt spending a lot of time in the room. The hotel was located up on a hill in Kalamaki therefore I would maybe not recommend it if you dont like to walk or dont have a car. You walk down to the beach, restaurants and bus in 10-20 minutes. To Platanias and Hania it took around 10-15 minutes with taxi that costs 10-15€, but i recommend the local busses that costs 1-3€.

Nous avons adoré la salle de bain ( assez moderne ). Nous avons trouvé qu'il manquait de l'espace surtout pour loger 5 personnes ( 4 adultes et un enfant ). Déçu par la vue et la terrasse. Établissement bien entretenu et propre ( nettoyage tous les jours ). Piscine agréable. Menu du petit déjeuner un peu décevant. Nous n'avons pas pu goûter aux plats proposés le soir car fermé déjà à 20h (??)hôtes agréables .

Meget fint appartmenthotel til prisen. Ok lejlighed og senge, der manglede dog en del køkkenudstyr, men værterne var søde til at hjælpe. Balkonerne var små og aflange hvilket gjorde det svært at sidde sammen og spise fx morgenmad. Skøn og meget ren pool. Bil anbefales .... det ligger lidt afsides og alligevel meget tæt på både Chania by og agia Marina/platanias.

This was our first stay at Balito, but it certainly won’t be our last. This is a small family run business of 22 apartments in a pretty complex with lovely pool area and small bar. Owner Angelo and his wife Fiona, along with their son/manager George and his soon-to-be-wife Jennifer, are a charming and hardworking team who are dedicated to the comfort and wellbeing of their guests. The hotel’s studios/apartments vary in size, according to guest requirements. Ours had a separate bedroom with the most comfortable queen size bed. There was also a single bed, and a sofa bed in the open plan kitchen/lounge. The shower room was recently decorated with very attractive tiles, and modern bathroom fittings. A fully enclosed shower with plenty of room to move offered the most delightful shower experience we’ve had in a long time, due to amazing water pressure and shower head! The rooms were kept spotlessly clean on a daily basis by very friendly and helpful housekeeping staff. Fresh towels were supplied as and when needed, and crisp cotton bedding was replaced every three days. Very comfortable loungers surround the spotlessly clean pool, and towels are available for guests to borrow from the pool bar. It is also possible to take meals by the pool. A simple menu is available throughout the day. This includes a wondrous full breakfast which has to be tried, and is great value at €6 inclusive of fresh orange juice and coffee. Not to be missed either are Jennifer’s signature Moussaka and Patstitsio dishes, probably the best we’ve had anywhere on the island and beyond! The quality of the food served is excellent and prepared individually, using locally sourced ingredients. (It is probably best to give a few hours notice if you wish to take a cooked evening meal.) As mentioned already, the menu is simple, but this is first and foremost a small self-catering complex, so the availability of any menu is a bonus, and you will always be guaranteed fresh and appetising food. Within 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel you will find family-run restaurant Elia, with its authentic home-cooked Greek cuisine, and there are also plenty of cafes/restaurants around the area, many offering a takeaway service with free delivery. From Balito it is about 15 minutes by car to the centre of Chania town, and there is a local bus service which can be picked up within 50 metres of the hotel. There are plenty of beaches, cafes and bars in the vicinity of Galatas, and also as you travel both east and west along the coast road. We found Balito met all our requirements for a totally relaxing holiday, being so close to Chania, the sandy beaches and the national highway, and yet far enough away from traffic noise and busy locations. We were lucky enough to be staying at Balito for one month, and it truly felt like being with family. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We are so looking forward to going back again and actually booked for September before we left! Thank you to the entire Balito crew for you warm welcome, your friendly and helpful attitude, and your desire to make our holiday the best it could be.

This small hotel is ideal for families. The family room we stayed was pretty comfortable and really clean. The owner was very polite and gave many information. The best part was the swimming pool. We will be back soon.

Very nice placeon the beach, safe to walk and jog. Very nice beach clean and safe. The flat is situated close to all restaurants and shops. The accommodation is walking distance from Spar and all restaurants, you don't have to use your car.

Very good clean accommodation. Stayed in apartment number 15. Great size 2 bedrooms and loads of space in the living area. Huge shower and the department will sleep 7. Very comfortable beds. We were able to keep room all day on on our last day. Highly recommend.

The hotel looks brand new and the area is really nice. Moreover, the rooms are really big and the staff are great. It is also really easy to get to either chania or any of the beaches.

We stayed in a standard apartment initially, 2 adults 3 kids. It was a tight squeeze so we asked if they had a larger room and were willing to pay, but they upgraded us for free! Lovely pool which the kids enjoyed everyday, breakfast is served from the bar at the pool and very reasonably priced. Free parking at the unused basketball court adjacent to the property. Kitchen had everything we needed to make an evening meal, though the sockets were on the other side of the room for the electric oven - so we had to move the table! Apartments inside have been refurbed recently, and the bathrooms are nicely tiled as per the pics. Daily housekeeping nice and clean and very friendly too. Beach is a few minute drive down and the bus-stop to Chania centre is right outside the apartments (though we just drove). Oh and the young Albanian lady at the pool-bar was amazing - very helpful and friendly throughout! (The place doesn’t have a proper reception so you just go there if you need anything). Overall we were happy and would stay again.

The T.V. didn' t play.. There were not sesouar for hair. Our reservetion inclouded free drinks but the stuff offered it only the first day.. Althought the location is very good.. Fridge, small kitcen, and other things were included in the room.

Friendly staff, clean modern rooms. Lovely quiet pool/bar area. 15 minute walk to the nearest regular bus (21) to Chania. Nearby tavernas are fantastic value and quality. We really enjoyed our stay at the Balito!

Appartamenti pulitissimi e con una bella piscina,adatta anche ai bimbi piccoli. Indispensabile avere una macchina perchè si trovano fuori dalla città di Chania e lontani dalle spiaggge. Soluizone quindi ideale da sfruttare per la scoperta della parte occidentale di Creta avendo la macchina a disposizione. La struttura mette a disposizione un grandissimo parcheggio gratuito (non custodito).

I had a great experience here at Balito. The personal is so friendly ! The rooms were very clean. Anything you need you have it. The owner is really friendly. The pool is big and really clean. The rooms are big enough for 3 people and the kitchinette has everything you need.

Appart hotel tres propre, lit refait tous les jours. Kitchenette avec l'essentiel mais succinct (1 poêle, 1 casserole, 1 feux électrique, 1 micro onde). Clim dans piece principale et un ventilo pour la chambre. Par contre la wifi fonctionne tres mal dans la chambre, il faut ztre a la pisxine pour capter. Piscine ideal pour petit et grand. Situé à 1km de la plage en haut d'une côte (2min en voiture) et à 15min en voiture de la Canée centre. A 2min à pied, un resto typique, très bon.

Très bel hôtel, service au top l’équipe est aux petits soins. L’ambiance calme et reposante Magnifique piscine, petit déjeuner très bon.

Το ξενοδοχειο ηταν πολυ ανετο, πολυ καθαρο. Το προσωπικο ηταν ευγενικο και η πισινα επισης πεντακαθαρη. Μειναμε παρα πολυ ευχαριστημενοι και το συστηνουμε οικογενειακως σε αλλες οικογενειες!!!!

Afslappet sted med stor imødekommenhed. Gode værelser og altaner. En lille bar hvor god morgenmad kan bestilles og indtages i skøn skygge om morgenen. Og selvfølgelig er øl, sodavand og diverse drinks også tilgængelige 😎 1 km til strandvejen hvor der findes fantastiske spise steder samt strand.

The positives were that all the staff are super friendly and helpful. The property is very clean and the pool area is fabulous. It's a small enough hotel that the pool area is never crowded. The bar by the pool serves food and drinks. The negative being that the double bed (and pillows) were really hard and uncomfortable, resulting in bad sleep and waking up with sore backs. There was no AC in the bedroom and the one in the main room did not reach into the bedroom, thus very hot and uncomfortable at night, even with a fan pointed directly at us (in the bedroom). The beaches down the road are very good but it's a 10-12 minute walk (uphill going home). The restaurants nearby are all very good and the area is not too touristy compared with other villages nearby. If they sorted the bedrooms out (bed and AC) we would definitely return, as everything else was so good.

Easy and quick check in and check out. The room was as described. Very nice, spacious and clean. Shower was a good size; a change from other locations we stayed in Greece. And the bed was comfortable too. Beautiful set up in the back area with pool and bar. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend!

Located in a 10 min. walk from the beach and restaurants, it is a small hotel, very clean with spacious and well equipped rooms. There is also a nice pool area where breakfast and snacks are served. The owners are polite and helpful.

My partner and I spent 2 lovely weeks at the hotel Balito. The family who own and run the hotel couldn’t do enough to make sure we were comfortable and happy. The staff were knowledgable, caring, efficient and took pride in everything they did. The breakfast was plentiful, freshly cooked and tasty. The room was comfortable and quite spacious. My partner and I have recently stayed for 2 weeks at the Hotel Balito. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The owners who run the hotel; and the staff, are very welcoming, friendly and go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful, tasty and freshly prepared. The room, pool and outside areas were exceptionally clean and well maintained. This is the perfect place for escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Finally, I’d just like to say a big thank you to everyone at the Balito for being so lovely.

Pros: +Cool rooms, you can feel breeze from sea. No need for AC at +31. +very clean +nice pool area for family with kids. +very helpfull staff. +quiet location +near motorway, so easy to reach other parts of island. Cons: -beds matress comfortability 7/10. -cleaning every day. Could be only every 3rd day. -week wi-fi 7/10.

Balitos Apartments is located in a nice, quieter living area only few kilometers away from Chania city centre. Nearest local bus station was only 30 meters away from the hotel, so it was easy to move around with busses. The hotel was really cozy and our room was spacious and clean. The biggest praise still goes to the amazing hotel staff who were both helpful and super friendly.

Stayed here for a night with a friend while backpacking and found this property to be a perfect getaway. It's a few miles from the city centre but there were excellent local food choices nearby and the beautiful pool even had a bar. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and modern. We had amazing views of the mountains and the ocean. To top it off, the staff were genuine and friendly. Couldn't ask for more.

Everything was perfect...The staff and the owner manager were very polite and they make us feel like home!

Ησυχο και ευκολα προσβασιμο ξενοδοχειο. Ευγενικο προσωπικο. Αλλα παντελως ακαταλληλο στρωμα σε καναπε κρεβατι για το 4ο ατομο. Κλιματισμος δεν δουλεψε ποτε. Καθαριοτητα μη επαρκης και η καμαριερα ενω λειπαμε ολη μερα εως τις 16:30 ερχοταν αργοτερα και το δωματιο δεν ηταν ετοιμομοταν το χρειαζομασταν

Et enkelt familiedrevet apartment hotel til svært gunstig pris. Svært hyggelig personale. Stort rom med dusj og te-kjøkken og en liten balkong. Gratis Wi-Fi og svømmebasseng. Ligger i et rolig strøk med svært lite trafikk. Ca. 15 min spasertur nedover til hovedveien mellom Chania og Platanias som går langs stranden, hvor de fleste restauranter og butikker ligger. Anbefales for lav-budsjett turister.

Beaucoup de difficultés à trouver l'hôtel en suivant les indications notées sur le site. Mais l'hôtel est calme, bien situé par rapport à la plage et aux nombreux restaurants de cette partie balnéaire de Chania. La chambre était grande et possédait un balcon avec vue sur la mer. Très bon accueil malgré une arrivée tardive. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié Chania, qui est une ville facile d'accès, très animée et belle.

Grazie alle recensioni precedenti ci siamo affidati per il nostro soggiorno a questa struttura...è ottima! accesso indipendente, tutti i confort, arredamento nuovo e veramente GRANDE spazio a nostra disposizione, con una cucina attrezzata, frigo e aria condizionata... WiFi ultraveloce... La proprietaria ci ha consigliato una escursione che ricorderemo per la bellezza e per la ottima cucina che abbiamo potuto provare. GRAZIE! Sicuramente ci torneremo con gli amici...

Loved staying here. Location of the hotel is brilliant and our room was bright, clean and spacious. Beaches are a 15 min walk down the hill - very blue water! It was a shame the bar wasn't open at all, but understand if that were to do with the end of the season. All in all, we loved every second and didn't want to leave!!

Abbiamo fatto il Check in tardi ed in ogni caso c era qualcuno ad aspettarci che ci ha fatto tue le informazioni utili per visitare il posto, dal cibo ai luoghi da visitare. Il servizio in appartamento è stato adeguato, in un posto diffusioni ci hanno persino lavato i piatti che avevamo lasciato. L aparhotel è ristrutturato e a conduzione familiare ma funziona benissimo e ben quotato. Corredato di tutto cio che serve. ci hanno accontentato sulla camera con vista mare e wifi in camera. È collocato vicino a supermercati e vicino al mare, adiacente a dei campi sportivi pubblici per chi vuole anche fare un po di attivita sportiva.nel complesso viste le nostre esigenze e abitudini il giudizio è ottimo e il prezzo adeguato. Questa mia recensione mi auguro occorra a, mantenere le cose cosi come sono e a non stravolgere prezzi o servizi e a favorire il mantenimento del posto cosi come è.

El trato de la dueña fue estupendo. Nos ayudó mucho, dando información sobre qué ver en la isla. El apartamento estaba muy bien aunque tendrían que cambiar la cisterna del WC y la visagra del armario, pero por el precio que pagamos,no se podía exigir más. Las camas cómodas,no tanto las almohadas. La limpieza muy bien. Por las noches no se oía ningún ruido

The rooms are very big and ample. Also, the price is extremely cheap. You need to walk or drive a little bit to get to the beach though.

We enjoyed our stay at the Balito however would not suit all tastes, especially if prefer tourist areas. We went beginning of October (end of season) & the appts are situated in a more residential area. Approx 15 mins walk to beach/tavernas. 2 local minmarkets less than 5 mins walk away. Family owned/run establishment who were very friendly & lived in the local vicinity.
