Very cordial and cooperative staffs, RM , Front Office, and dining staffs. Property is quite and surrounded by natural beauty.
Stunning and well kept gardens
Nothing
Absolutely wonderful 3 nights spent at the Villa Bentota. The hotel was designed by Geoffrey Bawa, the famous Sri Lankan architect, and it is absolutely beautiful with lovely gardens and a path to a pristine beach across the train track. Our room was spacious, clean, colonial in style with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was really nice, relaxed with fresh fruits and cooked breakfast, Sri Lankan or Western. Lastly, but not least, everyone who worked there was super friendly and helpful, service was great throughout. Recommend in a heartbeat.
Everything was great.
Everything was exceptional!
Everything was exceptional
Vraiment trop cher !
The grounds are very beautiful. The location moments from the very beautiful beach was charming.
All in all the food and drink was disappointing and some of the blandest during a 3 week stay in Sri Lanka. It was also very expensive too. We stayed in more high end hotels during our stay in Sri Lanka, where the food was cheaper and more tastier. It was a real shame you had to request in a day advance a Sri Lankan style hoppers breakfast. There was hardly any guests who stayed there when we were visiting yet we were pestered every day multiple times what time we would be dining.
Good
No trains, otherwise, staff very good.and so close to the sensational beach. (
A beautiful hotel in a stunning location by the beach, and the perfect way to end our holiday in Sri Lanka. Our room was gorgeous and so comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful, and made us feel so welcome. There is a really personal touch. All the food was delicious, and breakfast was a real treat. We had to checkout early in the morning and they ensured breakfast was served early for us to accommodate this. Would highly recommend.
The grounds of this hotel are absolutely beautiful as are the buildings themselves. On the whole the food was very good, although I did feel some options were overpriced.
The service was a bit hit and miss. On my first evening I wasn't allowed to sit straight down at a dinner table, but rather to take a seat in the bar seats. This then meant I wasn't sat at a table when my food arrived. On another occasion I clearly stated I did not want mayonnaise with my dish, yet it came with it within the sandwich. Whilst the rooms looking beautiful, each morning there was heavy condensation on the windows.
This a beautiful small but spacious hotel in colonial style which was developed by acclaimed Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa in the 1980s and renovated recently with great taste. Its simply and comfortably furnished public spaces flow into each other and link with the outdoors through courtyards, flowers and plants in huge pots. The main dining room is open to the garden on two sides with blinds that can quickly be pulled down if it rains. The garden is a good size with lush lawns, frangipane trees, a cool loggia and two pools. At the end of the garden is the main railway line from Galle to Colombo. Trains are not that frequent and add to the charm of one's stay. The beach is just the other side of the railway line, great for walking and sunsets. The staff were all delightful - nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Our room and en suite were lovely and had everything we needed, The food, both Sri Lankan and western dishes, was very good and not expensive (by London standards) so we didn't try any other local restaurants as we were only there 4 nights. We would definitely go back,
There are a couple of early trains (around 6.00 am) so light sleepers may find that disturbing. You have to walk a little way up the beach (300m) to find a safe place to swim as there are rip tides and strong surf.
The property is beautiful and had been designed by a most renowned Sri Lankan architect. Beautiful interiors and artwork. Fabulous restaurant for lunch and evening and a good choice for breakfast. You can walk Along the beach to several beach bars. The railway track runs along the bottom of the garden between the hotel and the beach which is actually great fun watching all the passengers. All the staff are super helpful and I can definitely recommend this boutique hotel to anyone.
Nothing
Great customer service. Beautiful location, right on the beach. We had a suite which was spacious. They organised a late check out room for us. We used the spa and had wonderful massages. Delicious food, available all day. Great recommendations for local restaurants. Tuk Tuk drivers outside the property every night. The train line is very close, it didn’t detract from the property, it was amusing waving to passengers.
Nothing
So off the beaten track and calm and quiet. The staff was so nice, discreet and helpful.
The architecture, garden, pools, location. The staff were very friendly and the food was good.
Incredibly relaxing, comfortable, great food and location
They need new locks for the bedrooms and better bar snacks - otherwise great!
We liked the surroundings the wildlife, the pools, the younger staff were amazing very attentive, the room was lovely the bed very comfortable
The hotel it self was very expensive. The food and drink were very expensive and we would not pay that sort of money in England. We went to restaurants in the area which was a third cheaper than here. Too expensive for us to eat here more than 1 night, food was just the same as other restaurants in the area for less money. We did have breakfast included in the price which was lovely however I asked for some orange juice which I had every morning, however one morning and was told by the member of staff that it was only the juices on display. The juice in display was blackcurrant juice and I don’t drink that because it has to much sugar in it. Quite disappointing that as a top hotel he couldn’t be bothered to get some juice. Also a few minor points Water left in the kettle and coffee pots not cleaned A swarm of flies on the balcony every day
The Villa is nice place, good location for trips. we highly reccomed driver for trips through Island- our dear Netaj +94 (77) 706 5854
Lovely staff Great pool Very quiet
The early morning wedding photo shoots with drone!
This hotel was beautiful, the staff were so friendly and our room was gorgeous.
Shame that the sea was so rough and the beach not swimmable just outside but there was an area for swimming just up the beach - 10 minute walk.
Beautifully styled property, very clean, immaculately kept gardens and pool. Great place for a relax, comfortable bed and room. Lots of lovely places to sit, short stroll over the railway line to the beautiful beach. Tuk tuk ride away from restaurants and shops. The hotel food was very good, breakfast was different each day, the buffet was very good but when they did table service on some days it was incredibly slow (my only criticism!) I would recommend this hotel.
Beautiful hotel in amazing grounds. Fabulous pool and dining experience. The staff were so attentive nothing was too much trouble.
The Villa Bentota is a quiet haven by the side of the Indian Ocean. The villa was designed by the famous Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. The pool was a real feature for us. 23 metres long and excellent for morning fitness swims. The food was excellent and the staff were extremely attentive.
Nothing not to like.
I have been visited Bawa's work for the whole trip. This one is a very clean, nice, different one. It is not a big hotel that owns lots of facilities, but rather a delicate one with interesting stuffs. the room is small but very comfortable and clean. enough to use. recommend the spa, it's much more cheaper than other fancy hotels, and it's good.
Exclusive, private, lovely staff, great food
Not much availability for spa treatments
No way to lock our room internally at night. Even though we emailed regarding a gluten free request, it seemed that the kitchen staff either hadn’t been informed or had no clue what that was. Eating options were very limited for me due to this. Loud neighbouring party on our last night continued on till after midnight.
Had an excellent stay at The Villa Bentota by KK Collection, the staff was very courteous, gave an excellent tour of the property and its amenities. The room was super clean and well organized. Overall an excellent stay.
I loved the aspect and the feel of the property. With the lush lawn, trees, white buildings and train running through the bottom of the property it felt like colonial days.
There is l
Stunning property with gorgeous spacious rooms. It’s beautifully designed and decorated. The staff are incredible and so attentive. We had the Sri Lankan breakfast and it was exceptional - such a generous portion. We also had dinner there one night and it was delicious.
We absolutely loved our stay here, it's a 10/10 and we cannot wait to come back. Everything was great: The friendly and helpful staff, beautiful property, located directly by the beach, the stunning pool, the food and drink options, walkability to other restaurants and the village. We definitely recommend staying here!
Nothing comes to mind!
Everything exceeded expectations. The staff couldn't help me more. The breakfast was substantial and lovely, as was the dinner. I didn't spend time on the beach - exploring around bentota and around the pool. The staff even brought me a glass of water without asking - very thoughtful.
Leaving. I could have stayed there for forever.
Beautifully designed, and gifted with a gorgeous garden and pool, this is a lovely place to stay, very close to the beach, but close to Bentota town, and Lunuganga, if you're a Bawa fan. It's a quiet, intimate place, ideal for relaxation. My room was exceptional, in design and comfort, up a flight of steps, with views of the garden and pools, and with privacy too. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. I am very happy to recommend it.
Just a note to say that my room had a very small bathroom, but it was well provided for.
The location, the place, the garden, Everything was just right. The breakfast was delicious.
Nothing as such
Property is amazing! Breakfast buffet offerings were average but the eggs were good. Location is good just a 20-25 minutes walk from the main beach but there is a pretty but small beach close by, just across the railway tracks.
Staff needs training in the service industry! Knowing a bit of the English language would be a big plus!
Wonderful rooms and very professional staff. Nice touches such as milk and not creamer. First place we stayed with a bathtub too. Lots of hidden areas to explore.
Food is a bit pricey especially rice and curry.
A charming property. The staff were all amazing and could not do enough to accommodate our needs. A beautiful property in a part of paradise!
Nothing!
The pool, the beautiful "Bawa" design, lovely spacious gardens and the rooms were gorgeous, the staff were v hospitable. Food was superb.
Nothing. It was perfect.
Loved the house and gardens. Fab pool. Majority of staff delightful
Wedding next day and one or two members of staff made us feel that they wanted us to leave asap
Everything is just beautifully designed and overall perfect. And the comfiest bed.
Very serene and tranquil place. Full of gorgeous details. Staff were very accommodating. The pool was great.
The wifi didn’t always work so well. It’s right next to the train track and there are trains during the night that sometimes woke me up.
Beautiful, renovated colonial villa. The room was spacious and nicely furnished, and everything was extremely clean. The grounds and pool were lovely, and access to the beach was extremely easy. Staff were always very friendly and attentive.
Having the rail line at the end of the garden was actually a nice feature, although it was also quite loud when the (occasional) train came past during the night.
This is the 2nd time we've been to Villa Bentota. The hospitality and the service from the staff was excellent. The food was fantastic and tasty. The service was great too - cannot complain at all. There's someone coming to clean the room twice a day which is excellent. The garden which is directly parallel to the railway line is beautifully maintained. The pools are clean. We love the privacy afforded to us when the pool is used. The surroundings are tranquil and the building is beautiful.
I think the high chair for toddlers in the restaurant need replacing. They are a bit sticky and the straps are dirty. Our view is that the child seats should not have wheels (that don't lock). Our child constantly kicked the chair back by pushing his legs against the dining table. It is a safety hazard, Our suggestion would be for the hotel to replace these high chairs and keep them clean. My wife used the Spa but the room could be a lot better to make it feel like a spa. She found that the towels could be newer/better.
The place is amazing. Clean. On the beach. The beach was clean and sandy. Food delicious. Staff attentive. Several pools in the place. The spa was great. Hot and cold water. Ac. Welcoming drink was lemon with lemongrass. It was so delicious to the point that we ordered it again on dinner.
Nothing
Beach, rooms, dinner
The pool
Nothing- it was perfection
Great hotel located on Bentota beach. The hotel is a stunning colonial building with a great pool area and nice gardens. Food and spa facilities are excellent.
An elegant and delightful hotel.. with charming staff and a fabulous location... A short walk to the beautiful beach (over the railway line...you get used to trains!!) if you can drag yourself away from the spectacular pool!!
Nothing!
The Villa was heavenly! Wonderful architecture and our room exceeded our expectations of a standard room! The staff were brilliant and food excellent! We met some fascinating guests and felt part of a house party! The boutique was an added bonus to take back gifts!
There were two wedding photoshoots during the day in the garden, which made us and other guests feel uncomfortable and slightly intruding. In the evening there was a private party in the garden, of which the music was quite loud. Another comment, but not a niggle - the pool was very warm and not refreshing. If it’s not heated, there’s obviously nothing that can be done, but other guests did comment.
Beautiful architecturally designed building with stunning views towards the sea
Nothing
The hotel was total luxury from when you enter. Great welcome by the staff, beautiful grounds, beautiful pool and lovely rooms. Trains going past was a cool touch and can walk straight down to the most stunning beach. Can walk along and there are great beach bars and loads of people playing volleyball. We were at the hotel for a family wedding and it was incredible. Would find it difficult to find a hotel that comes close to it in the area.
Genuinely find it hard to criticise anything.
- Wonderful place, large green garden, large and cosy-warm pool - large, very nicely decorated rooms - excellent breakfast and dinner - hotel team prepared a birthday cake for my wife and even sang a birthday song
- when train passes the premise it is a bit noisy, but this is acceptable as everything else was wonderful
The relaxed ambience and great beach. No crowds.
The breakfast room.
Beds were fabulous. Close to beach. All staff were very good and attentive.
Could do with a few more sun beds as some people put towels on them early.
Nice hotel felt very relaxed and great Sri Lanken breakfast and dinner
Excellent boutique hotel, in a peaceful location.
The bed was the comfiest we had slept in during our time in Sri Lanka. The hotel was incredibly peaceful and beautifully decorated, and right next to a very quiet beach. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice. It was the end of our holiday and a great place to relax before our flight home.
Great location. Offered tranquility and respite from the crowds. Good mix of residents. Receptive to special food requirements.
Fairly limited Ala carte menu. Food got repetitive after 2 days. The charm of the railways line next to the property ran out by day two.
The breakfast was lovely and it was a beautiful setting to eat in. All the staff were amazing and went out of their way to help.
The prices at the bar and restaurant were very expensive but there are lots of local restaurants nearby to eat traditional Sri Lankan food.
Staff v helpful but poor English Menu too western and no fresh fish, bbq etc Chef needs more imagination Rice portions huge
Beautiful authentic hotel with incredible staff. Service was simply excellent. We loved our stay and are still dreaming about the traditional curry they served us.
We had a perfect stay here, everything was beyond our expectations, the room was spacious and super clean, the Staff are super friendly and helpful, the hotel itself is great and very relaxing.
One suggestion is to improve the breakfast or include more options, it's not at the same level as the rest of the services on the hotel.
Fantastic house (architecture, vibe and facilities). Great and friendly staff. Beautiful location.
The buildings, art works, and grounds were beautiful. The pool and deck chairs were lovely and the staff were very friendly. Easy walk to the beach across the railway track. Good walk along beach to other resorts and into Bentota village & restaurants.
Nice villa, welcoming staff
Some noisy residents sometimes, if you are close to the pool. But staff arranged all very well
