Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The room was nice and the facilities good. Central to a few major shopping centres and other places.
The staff of this hotel makes you feel like they hate you being there. I don’t normally write bad reviews but this hotel is the worst I’ve stayed in. Management should take action. TL:DR: Security issues, busted door lock, FILTHY room, incompetent housekeeping, missing amenities, very late check in time, and many more. SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE. BELIEVE THE REVIEWS. THERE ARE BETTER HOTELS AROUND. I’ve stayed in many accommodation from 5-star hotels, family-run airbnb, tents, hostels, but this hotel is easily the worst service I experienced. They claim to be a 3-star hotel but their service is not up to par. We stayed for 3 nights and here are the details that caused me to write this review: Day 1: -hotel grounds have impressive gardens and facilities (pro) -room is spacious (pro) -good location (pro) -very late check in time at 3:00pm -FILTHY floor -broken door lock -stains on the bedsheet -itchy bed and sheets -missing items that are supposed to be included in the booking details: hairdryer, toothbrush and toothpaste -missing headboard foam (based on promotional images) - hit my head on the protruding panels First impression: Acceptable Day 2: -asked the room to be cleaned bec the floor is just nasty (see photos) -shower barely heats up -when we returned, the floor was swept but wasn’t mopped. It also felt a little sticky so I couldn’t go around barefoot. -bedsheet was not replaced!! Now, I’m getting the impression that they dont replace the sheets that’s why it was itchy on our first night. -towels replaced, but not the bath mat -no water refills -we called the front desk to send us water and a hairdryer as well -hairdryer arrived after an hour, still no drinking water -staff entered the room while we were sleeping!!! -they dropped off the drinking water after 4hrs!! they assumed it’s okay to enter the room without permission. What if we were dressing up?? -2 quick power outages during the night Overall: Getting annoyed but not enough to give a bad review. We, however, are now PARANOID about our safety. Every sound from outside puts me in alert in case someone opens the door. Day 3: -we ate mangoes in the room and washed up in the bathroom sink. Unfortunately, the mango stained a bath towel. Just a few spots, nothing to fret about. -I asked for another cleaning bec I just feel like the room is never clean and went about our day -when we returned, there’s NO DRINKING WATER, NO BATH MAT, and only 1 old looking towel. -sheets were not replaced and floor is still not mopped. -coffee cups not washed, and coffee packets not replaced. -we are getting bummed. We went to the front desk to ask for these items. -they returned with a NASTY looking bath mat! -Okay, we’re not too picky as long as it gets the job done. But we’re now feeling like the housekeeping is intentionally doing a bad job. It’s not like we thrashed the room. The last photo should be a snapshot of the room while in use. -then, they returned again, now with a write up about the STAINED TOWEL and that we have to pay 500php or clean it!! -oh my god! This makes me so furious! The housekeeping had NO STANDARDS in cleaning our room, but when they found slight MANGO stains, they suddenly throw hands?? -I couldn’t take a photo of the stains bec they EASILY disappeared after we washed and scrubbed them (without detergent, mind you) -I’m just blown away by how incompetent their service is and how easy it is for them to point fingers. -We’re checking out tomorrow, and I am expecting that they will come up with new things to charge us with. I should’ve believed the negative reviews I’ve seen online. I’m not too picky when it comes to accommodations, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt bec I thought their longevity and location trumps any inconvenience we might experience. But being consistently mistreated, in addition to security issues, is just not worth it. P.S. Still waiting for our drinking water 12hrs later
Went to have a drink but they told me the bar is closed at 9:30 the bar is empty already, how you suppose to make business if you close so early this is shocking.
Not bad at all nice spacious room
The staff didn’t accommodate to the customer and also why there was note that cleaning has to pay this the hotel is horrible I never had experienced. Even when we check the staff asked for the customer to wait until finished to check the room I never had experienced only this hotel. Rude and not kind staff.
The bed was spacious and comfortable but the room needs to be updated.
Great staff
Rooms are a little on the run down side/outdated. If you book through Orbitz, breakfast is not included.
The linens were dirty.
Rooms are a little dated, but everything worked and the room was large. The pool and garden were nice and had a poolside bar. Overall good place fot the price and I would stay again.
Lost my phone. They were very helpful to help me find it. Thanks to staff
The Ritz had everything we needed, Location, 3 in one room, Best of all was value and cleanliness for money
I booked for my wife and son. They loved it so thanks for great experience.
Food served was delicious including the hot chocolate, staff was friendly & professional
Staff are pleasant and accomodating . Room service is excellent and very prompt in attending to our request. Rooms, hallway and lobby are very clean. Very accessible if you want to have a city tour .
All
the location of this hotel is not bad, and the staff is very helpful, the room is clean but not big, no variety of food and medium quality, the room was not ready by the time I reached, and needs some improvements to be one of the good hotels.
Everything is good, has a parking area, has sorrounding area, swimming pool, separate kitchen and the room is clean.. recommend to stay this hotel
Not good staff, try to cheat costumers, I ask for night staff for drop off airport ,she said 700 peso morning staff charged 1000 peso., Shower doesn’t work properly, no hot water. I booked hotel with breakfast. Staff said no breakfast.
Convenient location. Good surroundings
There were a couple minor problems with the room, with two guests they only allowed one breakfast free, and they charged a pretty hefty fee for using the pool. That said it was a nice room, quality hotel, very inexpensive, and a nice stay overall (and the food you could buy there was wonderful).
hello My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at the Ritz.Overall it was a gd experience ? But there was a couple of things that could have made it better?No.1 the wifi was slow and we couldnt really make use of it? No.2 the cable tv was terriable with 3philippino channels only and 1 english channel, hbo? But there was no volume on it? we called someone to fix it but he couldnt so we turn off? N0.3 the food was good but pricey! ITS 10% more in the restrauant then the room service? the pool was great and nice ambiance in the nice garden setting next to pool and restra. so rate it a 7 of 10. sn
The good: hotel staff very friendly and accommodating, good food, clean rooms. The bad: older hotel that needs a facelift, lukewarm shower, very slow internet that regularly cuts out.
Better if pool guest are free. Instead paid for each guest.
The price is okay. I requested for matrimonial bed but they somehow forgot or mistakenly booked us with a two single bed room. However, they were nice enough to correct it by giving us the deluxe room. The problem with the room is the aircon, for 2 nights we endured sleeping in a very humid room because the aircon is not functioning well. Not happy with the service as well, I believe they have a very few staff, we requested for room make-up but no one attended. Even the assistance of having our things taken to our room took them hourssss.
We stayed for 4 nights and the hotel was unexpectedly amazing. Accommodating staffs and friendly security guards. The location was perfect, has nearby laundry shop as well which we really need. The room was spacious, we just had problems during check out when they’re asking for the payment when I already paid the rooms upon check-in.
Dirty and stinky even for free I don’t want to stay!
I was greeted with tall Florida palms as my ride entered the gate. The area is cool and relaxed because of the well-maintained grounds and plants. The property only has 5 floors so it responds to my need for feeling secure. The AC and hot/cold showers worked perfectly and the cleanliness is maintained. I really liked that the drinking water is always sealed and the buffet breakfast has a lot of options. The lobby provides a nice view and the seats are inviting.
The pool is really good. Just no phone/intercom and no hair dryer, those are needed since they have pool, you want to dry your hair. No dental kit and slippers in the rooms.
Stayed here to facilitate a workshop (held at their VIP room) and was charmed by the beauty and minimalism of their room. The staff was friendly and helpful. It has a well-maintained lawn that later in the afternoon of our stay hosted a garden wedding. But the best discovery for me was the food from their resto! Superb! Would recommend both for work and leisure trips (they have a pool!).
Was here for an AA Conference traveling from California, USA. I was impressed with layout and location of hotel. Well well guarded and everyone is very polite and helpful! Food too expensive for Philippines though. Swimming pool felt warm and looked well maintained. Conference room was clean and nice sized. Prices were kinda high but still worth it. I would come back if I stayed in Davao overall. Thank you so much front desk people for your patience with my American superiority attitude.
The last time we checked in, the pool wasn’t available. We are glad that renovation is already done and the kids enjoyed the pool. The staff are approachable and nice. We love the food and it’s free (i mean the breakfast buffet). We asked for a big bed because we have 3 kids and they obliged.
Beatiful and good place for a private party. We had a great time with great food and friendly crew. I recommend this place for exclusive dinning and room party. Heaps of parking spaces available for guests.
The room was big and clean, No wifi in the room which is a bit of a pain but had Lan connection if you have a cable in-room, breakfast was average, staff was very helpful spoke good English. The Swimming pool was great. Would definitely stay again, one of the better hotels in Davao
The facilities: Old and dusty. Even if you request for cleaning, you'd feel and smell the dust EVERYWHERE. The air conditioning units are also old and dirty and too small to cool the room. It has also caused the funky smell in the room. The dining areas were also not just old but not properly maintained. If you have asthma or rhinitis, expect to have attacks as the place is just dusty and dirty. The staff: The most rude and incompetent on the planet. Hats off to their staff and management for violating contract provisions and being deceitful when it comes to provisions. THEY WILL NOT HONOR ANYTHING YOU SIGN. They will cheat you to the best of their abilities. They will not apologize as they are trained to be uncouth. The staff also has a practice of not taking responsibility for whatever misdeeds they commit. They will lie through their teeth just to get rid of complaining customers. The management: Their motto is to cheat and be liars. They will cut corners just to earn every possible buck that they can. IF you want to be inconvenienced and shortchanged and be maligned, spend a night here. The worst possible place you could stay at in Davao.
We booked the room for sleepover. Go hotels and red planet were already fully booked, so we opt for this hotel. The room is spacious but its quite wornt out and dirty. The room in the ground floor is noisy with the cars outside and people passing. I should have booked Go Hotel ahead of time.
from the deal i got from hotels .com it was a great deal ,,, rooms are big and clean ,, beds comfortable and large ,, restaurant and pool ,, pool bar are top notch , location is a little ways away from the malls and parks ,, but taxis are cheap enough ,, staff and security were good,, cops eat for free so there allways around
What I like about this hotel is that it is very accessible at the same time the facilities they have is at par with other high end hotel at a fraction of the cost.
Overall good experience.Have stayed there before and was surprised to be remembered.Had room issues which were dealt with. But it's the staff I appreciate. From Jasmin to Paul to and everyone else. The staff makes the hotel !!!
We've booked this hotel for 10 nights. The room were clean and spacious. The only problem i had was with the staff during breakfast. They dont seem so accommodating. They keep an eye on you! Never happened in any hotel where we stayed during our trip.
There is a very nice outdoor pool with beautiful trees and garden. I found the hotel was pretty noisy inside and outside as well. The staff were very accommodating. We stayed for 3 days in February 2015.
We had a wonderful stay at The Ritz Hotel. The hotel is located at an area where many homegrown restaurants so looking for a place to eat was never a problem. The room we stayed in had a weak wifi signal but the management quickly came to the rescue and addressed our concerns immediately. Their customer service was indeed very good. Rooms, despite showing age, were very clean and we had a good night's sleep. We will definitely stay there again next time.
Breakfast is good
For two years in a row, I stayed overnight with some friends. The place is just simple like any other hotels, but unlike the others, the rooms at Ritz Hotel at Garden Oasis are more spacious and cozier. The location is ideal and accessible. Attended a lot of events held at Ritz and I can say that their function rooms are great. Their food are great too. The staff were friendly to us and accommodating. Ensuring that we're all good and getting a good service.
We wanted to have a staycation during the long weekend so we decided to try the Ritz Hotel. The hotel is located at downtown area which is near Gaisano, Victoria and Abreeza Malls. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel has a garden which is perfect for garden weddings. The breakfast buffet has very limited options but enough to start the day right. The staff was very helpful when the hotel's wifi signal was weak and they provided us with our very own router.
A few months ago, my friends and I had an overnight stay at The Ritz Hotel at Garden Oases. We stayed at one of their suites at the 5th floor. First off, the hotel's location is so convenient. Located right in the heart of Davao City, The Ritz Hotel is near to various malls, hospitals, banks, and convenience stores. The room is nice and cozy. The bathroom is also nice as it comes with a bathtub, a toilet with bidet, and other amenities. My stay was pleasant, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends who plan to visit Davao.
It's in downtown. Location is just right. Very near to a lot of malls, restaurants, and schools. Room is big and bed is so comfy! I stayed here with my friends. The staff is helpful. You will have the best stay in Davao if you stay at the Ritz Hotel at Garden Oases.
despite of a Deluxe room, the accommodatiom was very simple and not worth the price !
the hotel location is okay. however, restaurant staff, needs to improve a bit.
The hotel upgrade a super delux room for me. I enjoyed journey and had a happy vocation in davao.
Room was on the groundfloor. Voice from the outside could be heard. It would be nice if the plants outside were taller to obstruct the view inside. There were only soap and shampoo but no toothbrush and toothpaste. The towels were looking so old and no bath mat. I requested for one and they placed a very old dirty looking mat. No slippers. Swimming pool is ok but accessibility could have been better if you dont have to go through the main lobby
The room had the bare essentials. There was no Hot water until the last 2 days of my stay. There were times when we had to ask for things that they forgot to put in our room after it was cleaned such as floor mats. They did not provide washcloths to help with cleaning yourself in the shower luckily I brought a loofa.
Not great , no hot water ,no towels , the breakfast is good but you must also think of foreigner guest to include the bacon in your breakfast menu, the staff we're friendly , Hotel has an old part and New part ,l think we weren't in new
Only once returned to find there was no clean toweling after room had been cleaned l rang for new towelis to be sent up to room, there are no flanel , face clothes, nor small hand towels. There was no choice of non alcoholic beverages nor any snacks in the mini bar/ fridge.
internet room shoping has now taken a different twist for me...images will not be the major factor
Room upgraded again. Service is always professional and with that Filipine smile. Wifi isn't brilliant but I think it's an area problem rather than a hotel one. I don't really bother with breakfast here as there are outside places to go. Only downside is the cleanliness of the pool chairs - next time I go there I might be tempted to give them a good scrub
Hotel nice, clean, modern and staff fruendly. Very annoyed they charged us full rate knowing there was a party on that night with extremely loud music until midnight. It would have been appreciated to have been pre warned as got little sleep and was not offered any discount. Be aware of functions
hotel is near city centre, but surrounding is not convenient for.food and transportation. have big garden and pool, good for convention, but room is old, feel not so clean and the king size bed is combined of 2 single bed, not so comfortable. breakfast is good for the hotel rate. staff is friendly. but check in is slow, have to wait for almost 20minutes.
We came in early so there is a charge of 500 peso. Normally the hotel we stayed do not impose such charge subject to room availability.
Friendly staff - room was large comfortable for my needs - complimentary breakfast was adequate - pool a welcome bonus - wi fi service good throughout the complex - reasonably accessible to town by taxi
I like this hotel and it's location, staff, layout and services. Nice lobby and big for meeting business clients, etc. Good, friendly staff. Very clean rooms and spacious. Good family pool that is clean and not overly toxic with chemicals, but still clean water and pleasant. Good food, but could use a few more breakfast selections that are European/American. Still, they made me omelets that were not on the breakfast menu. Accommidating! I shall return!
first time , will go back but was very disappointed the swimming pool was not available as it was being renovated
Booked into a superior room. Unfortunately, I been to better hotels for the same price of 3,400/day. Room set-up was basic..king bed in-front of a flat screen TV. We did not like the rest room at all. Toilet having a separate door..felt so stuffy inside. However, we love the bed, very comfortable and huge. The food was affordable with halo2 for only 90 pesos however they forgot to serve it so we end up to having one. They have fresh seafood from shrimps, fish to live crabs. Internet is just in the lobby and the poolside. We may come back for the food.
The bed is tarrible back breaking, the room okay and front door people nice, over all it is okay however for next time isn't my first choice.
We were disappointed with the hotel services specifically the promptness of housekeeping to hand the items requested even the most basic ones. Also, we were informed that there is a fee for bath robes. This is free for other hotels. The internet connection is very poor. We were not able to even log into a social networking site, not even one of us.
The room was very clean, upgraded bathroom. Hotel is not five star but the room can be compared to one. Staff will treat you with care and respect. WORLD CLASS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!
Took a while at d front desk for chk in. I waited for like 20 mins or more. Very few choices of food at their breakfast buffet.
We had to move rooms multiple times. First room the safe was faulty. Room was so basic. Second room air con did'nt work. Third room internet point did not work. Fourth room they had to put a wifi router in our room just to get internet. Then a code needed to be used everyday for each device. They need to fix there wifi so that its standard in every room. Very disapointing.
How could a hotel with such high standing not provide Wifi?
I invited some relatives to eat by the pool and use the water it cost $4.00 a head for them to swim even for the children strict apparel rules except if your a muslim woman.
Good experience.
the bed is nice, cozy and big but, no ready towels in the room. when I requested for towels , we were given only 1 bath towel. the room is supposed to be good for 2, but we were given only 1 towel. the hotels I stayed in before have several towels for different uses. floor is not carpeted, no floor mat/rug outside of bathroom, no towel for foot. head board light needs cleaning. the pool needs some repainting there's a broken tile. some pool users didn't wear proper attire. breakfast is ok, but you need/ask the staff for refill coz they don't immediately refill the empty warmers. I ask for a butter, 1 staff told me that only 1 butter was left, however when my husband ask another staff for a butter, he gave him another butter. but in general, our stay was ok, except for those mentioned above.
I saw a reviewer who said he was disappointed considering Ritz Brand. Do you really think you can get a Ritz Carlton room for under $50? It's clean with hard wood floors, safe location, decent breakfast and nice staff. I actually preferred my stay there to Seda. This is a hidden gem for a budget traveler to Davao City who wants to have a nice place to stay. Thanks to Jessie and Ronald at front desk. Nice people.
wifi ws a constant battle
I have to be honest I am surprised at some of the negative reviews because it doesn't match my experience. I would probably give a 4 star review considering I have stayed at most hotels in Davao, but I am doing a 5 star to compensate a bit for some of the other negative listings which I can only assume are way more negative than they should be. 1) I got an online special so compared to other hotels, it was very well priced. 2) Room was good compared with similar hotels. The room had hardwood floors. It was clean. A/C worked perfectly. TV worked perfectly. I like the hardwood floors for allergies and so forth. 3) The staff were very friendly. From Ronald the bellman to the front desk people, I found everything to be fine. 4) Wifi was not strong in my room but was super fast in lobby. 5) Pool is very nice. 6) Breakfast is decent. It's not as big as Mandaya or Marco, but it's decent. You can ask for omelet. They have fresh fruit, many times fresh squeezed juices.
I would not recommend this hotel to any one. My life was threatened in front of my whole family buy the security while we were in the pool. The security thought I did not understand the language so he was very shocked when I related to him in this local language. The management and I had agreed that there was no room for people in the hospitality industry like this but yet they went against our agreement and instead the same man seemed to be making jokes the next day about it. So I advise everyone that I and the majority of others do not stand or support this unacceptable behaviour.
It's a cozy hotel in a garden within a quiet and safe neighborhood in Davao City. The room is very spacious. Most of the staff (including the restaurant staff) are friendly. The ambience in their restaurant is relaxing and has a good view of the swimming pool.
Room rate at Sgd 53 per night is reasonable. Not much to see in the vicinity. Need to travel out. Taxi fare is cheap though.
The building is very old, although decently maintained it is certainly starting to show the mark of age. What I however do not find acceptable is the following. *Overpriced - This hotel isn't of high enough class/quality that it righteously can charge the price that it does for its rooms. *No Wifi - The rooms have no wifi coverage, and although you can get wifi in the lobby or at the pool, it is of such an inferior/glitchy/spotty quality that you'll be unable to get anything done at all should you be lucky enough to be able to connect.
We were expecting more, based on the reviews, and the Ritz Brand name. There was no "wow" factor here, its just an old, used hotel. The standard room is nothing special and for less money we've stayed at much nicer, newer resorts in Mindanao. That playground probably has never been painted since it opened. We didn't let our kid play there.
Raymond on reception was excellent. Him and the other staff couldn't do enough to make my stay so comfortable. I have stayed at the Ritz Garden several times and it never disappoints. Clean and welcoming in a local and safe neighbourhood about half way between Gmall and Abreeza mall
Fantastic. We really enjoyed specially the pool..
Love staying here..... Close to Malls....rooms are comfortable .....staff friendly.... Food affordable.....stayed many times now.
At check in there was no personal so had to wait 20 min. The room was dirty as well as the bathroom and the TV didn´t work. A call to the reception didn´t help the situation so went to bed very disappointed. This morning we went for breakfast but was told it was not included even it said so on Hotels.com and at the same time there was only 3 dishes. In total a really bad hotel and bad service. Will definetely not stay there there again.
First when we checked in our room was not ready. Second the hotel has us booked for three rooms when I only booked for one room with breakfast included. Third the hotel said that I did not book for breakfast included and refused to honor my booking. When this initially happened, I asked to speak to a manager and the front desk person refused my request. It took me two days to speak to a manager and the manager refused to honor my reservation and my family and I ended up paying for breakfast separately.
I booked ahead of time. But when I checked in they didn't have the any room available. I was given a smaller room than what I paid for. They did move me the next day to an upgraded room. Which I didn't really need. I just wanted the room that I paid for from the start.
I told a number of people out of all the hotels I stayed in Davao, Ritz was the worst.
Great Hotel and Great Location. Clean pool, Rooms, and Gardens.
Generally, the was good. The ambience made the stay memorable. The only disadvantage that I could think of was the unavailability of WiFi access inside the room where I stayed.
Great hotel, but WIFI is so bad its almost unusable, and in a 3G/4G blackspot so hard to use mobiles for data.
The Ritz is a nice enough hotel but is in an industrial area of town . It struggles to be a big time hotel but it isn't. All in all it was simply OK.
Great stay, great hotel, great restaurant
no extras. no service. no stay (if your smart)
Great and enjoyed every bit. The quality of service is over and above, expectation.
this hotel was very accommodating and pictures were accurate of amenities and room size, my wife and I will stay here again
This hotel is very clean and secure , close to Gaisano shopping mall in a safe residential neighbourhood and has friendly staff but two things let the hotel down (1) the included breakfast is a set menu and even an omelette will cost extra (2) there is a lovely swimming pool, pool area bar and grassed area but no sun loungers so perhaps it's all just for show and not for using?
